A Perspective On Human Rights
INSTITUTIONAL CHANGE
Having identified that the legalist perspective is crude, in that it fails to recognise the broader moral
nature of human rights, and restrictive, in its recognition, utilisation and understanding of human right,
allows a further debasement of the perspective, in that it utterly misinterprets human rights violations
by both individualising, and decontextualizing them
This point picks up a recurrent theme of this paper, that a legalist perspective on human rights has a
reactionary approach with a focus on identifying the wrongdoer of a human rights violation , rather
than to set peremptory guidelines that outline how to live and act in harmony with human rights or
seeking to bring about any overarching change in behaviour , or indeed, systematic institutional
change. This method of focusing only on the wrongdoer foreshadows the danger Arndt waned of in
that a society can convince itself that by identifying and removing all the bad men it has sufficiently
and absolutely dealt with the evil.
Law, particularly Criminal Law, negatively effects the lens on which we view the human rights
movement. Though criminal law is by no mean the only legal enforcement avenue available, it has
nevertheless become the enforcement tool of choice[11]. As the criminal law lens seeks to identify the
bad man it utterly individualises and decontextualizes our understand of human rights as the lens hold
no capacity to recognise the bureaucracy, societal issues or

Poverty In Developing Countries
In today s global economy, if we want economic growth and development in developing countries,
improvements need to be made that provide opportunities for the well being of the citizens. Economic
growth and development has factors that include poverty and life expectancy rates. The various causes
of poverty make a huge impact and it changes trends in many countries that effect the way people live.
Even with certain changes that the government has made, numerous individuals and nations are still
living in a state of poverty. Poverty is a significant issue to society that may be overlooked in certain
countries because it is normalized, especially in developing countries, such as India, Africa, Haiti and
more. The citizens of these countries may be living off of $2.00 or less to provide for themselves and
their family. The level of poverty that increased and changed the lives of millions is the main cause of
conflict in developing countries.
Poverty has a wide range of causes and is defined as when a community lacks the financial resources
and essentials to enjoy a minimum standard of life... ( Poverty Investopedia ). Many developing
countries, or third world countries, are living in a state of poverty. Developing countries may be based
off of literacy rates, economics, or lower ratings based on these statistical criteria... (Kuepper).

Comparing Grendel V, And The Epic Of Beowulf
Beowulf is an old tale told by many authors and it was edited throughout time. There are many
similarities and differences in the film, Beowulf, and the original poem. I, honestly, really enjoyed
watching the movie compared to reading the story because it is packed with very exciting scenes that
are filled with all out action.
A major difference between the two is that Grendel is not such a cruel monster as they portray him to
be in the poem. In the film, he is actually quite like a child. He has very sensitive hearing, so when
they celebrate at Herot, it seems to send pain throughout his body to the point that he attempts to claw
his own ears out. He ambushes Hrothgar s feast because of the excessive noise that was bothering him.
After Grendel kills the lot of people at the party, Hrothgar tells everyone that if someone were to come
kill the evil beast, then he would give them gold and riches and basically anything they want. This is
when Beowulf comes to take matters into his own hands.
Beowulf hears about Grendel killing Hrothgar s men and wants to kill the beast to give himself a
legendary reputation. He brings fourteen of his bravest men with him to Denmark to kill Grendel.
When he arrives, Unferth, a warrior in the tribe of the Spear Danes, comes in drunk and challenges
Beowulf s boasts and claims about himself by telling a story he heard about Beowulf s swimming race
with Breca. He suggests that Beowulf lost the competition, and Beowulf corrects him, but never

The Collapse Of North Korean State Essay
Assess the possibility of the collapse of the North Korean state in the next 5 7 years by examining the
influence and impact of relevant geopolitical factors/conditions.
As one of the most antagonizing countries, North Korea seems to find the wrath of the United Nations
more frequently than any other sovereign nation. The country s human rights abuses and violations of
international law have led the international community to impose heavy trade sanctions with North
Korea (cite). While the country attempts to be largely self sufficient, malnutrition is a growing
problem for the people of North Korea (worldhunger). Based on its geographic location and violation
of international law in regards to nuclear capabilities and human rights abuses, North Korea is in a
perilous situation in the next seven years. Its increasing globalization and fervent nationalism suggest,
however, that while the country may evolve and become more globalized, it will survive as the
contentious nation state it is today. The physical geography of North Korea does little to stabilize the 5
to 7 year outlook for the country. Despite being bordered by two amicable countries to the North,
China and Russia, North Korea s southern border makes its physical geography a potentially
destabilizing factor. The Northern border is largely shared with China, stretching along the Yalu River
(Yu). This border is where the majority of imports come into North Korea, as China is North Korea s
largest trading partner

George S Patton Emotions
Although at first glance General George S. Patton is anything but creative, if you think about it, he is
one of the most creative people of all time. Both his battle strategies and speeches were creative, bold,
and extremely powerful. Each of his speeches, particularly his speech to the Third Army, are some of
the most powerful and motivated I have read. Each and every speech he spoke riled his troops and
made them want to crush the Nazis and win the war. Many people dislike Patton and his speeches
because of his vulgar language, but there is no denying the effect the speeches had on the troops who
served under him and the power in each word he spoke. http://www.wjpbr.com/patton.html Innovation

What should a person care about more, the nation or the...
What should a person care about more, the nation or the individual? If an individual wants privacy for
their personal life instead of national security, that is providing yourself with less protection. It is said
that privacy is one of the cherished freedoms in our democracy. Everyone wants privacy in their life,
but privacy can only go so far without having protection. National security is what keeps the United
States safe. National security is the building blocks of a country, because without security anyone can
take a country or destroy it. Most people want their life private and want only themselves to know
what is going on, but if national security means keeping yourself and others around safe, why not
choose it instead? When ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Central Security Service provides accurate support and knowledge to the military. It is in

The government is constantly watching U.S. citizens and everything they do. Cameras are posted at
red lights and at light posts. Every stop made at red lights by travelers is recorded and stored by
google, comcast, or verizon. Employers place cameras in stores when you walk in and around
different isles. They even place cameras in their parking lots. They are mostly looking for shoplifters
but could occasionally come across a individual who is planning to harm others. Also, retailers scan
and analyze every purchase made. Smart tvs monitor what each individual is watching. The
government keeps a watch every citizen s phone records, emails, texts, downloads, medical records,
bank balances, credit card numbers, and where they travel. The executive branch of the government
keeps a watch on all the cameras and it is all overseen by congress. In 2013, Edward Snowden,
contractor, revealed documents showing the National Security Agency monitored the usage of
telephone records and searches on the internet. By letting the government watch individuals, the
government can watch the United States, and ensure safety, but citizens are sacrificing their privacy.

Charles Dickens Hard Times For These Times
Fancy is a noun. It means the power of the mind to imagine things. Do not think about it; do not think
about thinking about it. Just memorize it. Can you? There is only one right path that society has
pinned you on. Like a toy car on a wooden train track, you are expected to complete the course
without straying from it. If you do, you are considered broken. Yet, what exactly is the point of
mindlessly walking the same path as everyone else, only to constantly find yourself memorizing
empty facts over and over again? In Hard Times for these Times, Charles Dickens embodies the
consequences of an absolutely factual world: blindness, imbalance, and nonfulfillment. Through the
convoluted stories of the opposite worlds, Sissy s journey to becoming a jewel of balance, Louisa s
tragic fight for fulfillment, and the harmonious character Sleary, Dickens defines the urgency for the
proportional combination of fact and fancy.
Gradgrind s education system is structured to plucking imagination and emotions out of the lives of
children, resulting in dangerous, machine like human beings. He closed mindedly abides to rules and
facts; dreams and abstractness is a crime. For example, Bounderby, Gradgrind s subordinate, insists
that his workers expect to be fed on turtle soup and vension, with a golden spoon (72), while on the
other hand, the workers believe that they are unfairly treated like dumb objects. Both Bounderby and
the workers think their opinion is the fact, but it shrivels

Blue Collar Brilliance And The Busy Carter Analysis
Work and leisure, these are two integral parts of human life, however there is much debate about
which of them is more important as well as what the proper balance between them should be. Those
such as Mike Rose and Nicholas Carr, in their articles Blue Collar Brilliance and World and Screen
respectively, emphasis how the benefits of working, physically as well as mentally, are often forgotten.
On the other side, however, Tim Freider in his work The Busy Trap contends that leisure is just as
neglected in our fast paced world. Despite these seemingly different statements, these works share
quite a lot on when looks just below the surface. In Blue Collar Brilliance Mike Rose describes his
appreciation for the often unnoticed intelligence that many blue collar workers posses as well as the
positive impact that physical work can have on the lives of those taking part in it. Nothing he says
encapsulates this more than his description of his uncle Joe working on a car assembly line, For Joe
the shop floor provided what school did not; it was like schooling, he said, a place where you re
constantly learning. Joe Joe learned the most efficient way to use his body with a set of routines that
were quick and preserved energy. (1036). This parallels the findings of Carr in World and Screen
where he describes how by using our ancestral navigation abilities we keep our mind healthy mentally,
by working out the parts of the brain that are in charge of memory, and physically by

The Theme Of Holes By Louis Sachar
«If you take a bad boy and make him dig a hole every day in the hot sun, it will turn him into a good

Louis Sachar is an award winning author of twenty five books for children and young adults. Holes
was first published in 1998 in America, and Louis Sachar, the author, have won several awards for the

The genres of this book are drama and friendship, but you can also find a small dose of comedy and a
little love story in this book.
I mean that the main idea of the story is that friendship and acceptance sometimes can be the
difference between life and death. That you should accept people as they are, and don`t judge them

Pathos is a method that affects the audience s emotions, whether it be an attempt to make the viewer
happy, mad, sad, joyful, surprised, etc. In this advertisement there are a variety of methods used to
appeal to the audiences emotion. The first method demonstrated is the use of vivid imagery. The
announcement shows a lot of different animals that all have been recently rescued. The animals all
have very sad and helpless visages; it is clear that some of the animals have suffered from some bad
injuries as if to display that they have been neglected. This aims to make the viewers very sad. This
pulls at the heartstrings of most of viewers because almost everyone has had a family pet some time in
their life. The viewers feel a sense of compassion and sadness for these sorrowful looking animals
because they couldn t imagine of their pet had to go through abuse or neglect. Even if the viewer
doesn t own a pet it s almost impossible to not feel sad for powerless animals that have had to go
through such torment. This is just one method the ASPCA announcement uses to make its audience
sad. The pathos technique is also employed by the use of music in this advertisement. Angel by Sarah
Mclachlan is a very powerful and emotional piece. The song has undoubtedly sad tone. The song s
message resonates perfectly with the advertisement s message, and it suggests that the audience can be
the animals angels or saviors. Playing Angel through out the advertisement only further enhances the
strong sense of sadness that it aims to provoke onto the audience. Lastly, the announcement uses
strong dialogue to demonstrate the rhetorical device pathos. Sarah Mclachlan s tone through out the
commercial is very soft and somewhat somber. She uses the word you several times during the
commercial, which makes the audience feel a very personnel connection to the animals portrayed

Dante In The Inferno Character Analysis
In the journey to the other world in the Inferno, Virgil function as a guide to Dante as they go down
through the gates of Hell. However, Virgil s function is not limited just as a guidance to Dante, but
also as an instructor and communicator. As their journey processes through the gates of Hell, Virgil
explains to Dante the characteristic and structures of the concentric rings of Hell and the punishment
received. At one point Dante starts to feel pity for the punishment that some of the souls are receiving,
but Virgil does not show any sympathy to the souls and reminds Dante the these souls are receiving
such punishment equally to the crimes committed in the human life because that is what God wanted.

both sides of the spectrum this issue has yet to be resolved because the situation is very complicated.
Furthermore, the debate has escalated far beyond just the medical risks and benefits but now has an
ideological principle regarding a parent s decision and governmental confines. Scientist Hank
Jennings says, They still want it to be a choice. They don t want it to be compulsory (Palfreman,

independent nation s economies. It occurs through the development of cross border movement of
technology, capital, labour, services, and products. Economic globalization is a product of neo liberal
capitalist market values. The capitalist global economy has lead to an apparent improved global
market however the burden of the economic nature of globalization has developed into a dilemma of
environmental and ecological destruction. Economic globalization has increased consumption and
consumerism, continued the domination of neo colonialism through eco imperialism, and dictated the
discourse surrounding international environmental protocol and treaties.
Economic globalization has rapidly increased world consumption and consumer patterns. With these
increases comes the development of more landfills to sustain increased waste, increased transportation
of goods and services, and the increased

The Nature, Beliefs, And Practices Of Religious Life Among...
Slave Culture
Topic: The nature, beliefs, and practices of religious life among slaves
The practice of slavery in the United States is a topic that has been researched, written about, and
continues to be a source of contention when discussed. Throughout history, slavery has been an
obvious controversial subject, with the main question being whether it was needed or would be
abolished. Slaves in America are typically defined as people who were treated as property rather than
human beings, and slaves were subjected to what would be considered inhumane treatment on a daily
basis. As a way to survive, slave nature included slaves seeking peace through religious practices,
praying and singing hymns during their chores. Religious beliefs and practices shaped the lifestyle and
culture of those forced into the practice of slavery, enabling them to survive harsh and cruel
circumstances beyond their control. Slaves did not expect to see liberty and freedom revealed in their
lifetime, but they prayed that their children would not have to live the lives they were living, and that
they, themselves, would live freely in Heaven. However, did slaves stay faithful to their Christian
beliefs? Were they focused only on God and a future life of freedom?
First, Christianity, and the belief in a higher power that would deliver those who believed from evil,
was a major common practice among slaves. Slaves stayed firm and true to their beliefs, no matter
where life took them or what they

1.0 Review of ISO 9001:2015
ISO 9001 is a universal quality management standard that sets requirements for quality management
systems and can be adopted by organizations in any industry and of any size. It helps the organization
which use it achieve customer satisfaction through efficient processes [ISO, 2015]. ISO 9001: 2015 is

Figure 2.0 Flowchart for implementing ISO 9001: 2015
2.1 Flowchart analysis:
Implementing ISO 9001 QMS in an organization begins with the decision to establish the QMS
having appraised the organization. The next step is to get the management involved and committed to
the cause after which an implementation team is setup to manage the process. Most often after this
stage, the management backs off leaving the responsibilities to the implementation team alone causing
challenges in the implementation.
The implementation team then checks the context of the organization against the customer
requirements and defines the organization s quality management standard (QMS) from there. An
awareness campaign is done to inform everyone in the organization about the QMS implementation
and then staff are trained to meet the requirements. Roles are assigned and an operations plan is then
created. At this stage, the process plan is documented and then process is carried on.
An internal audit takes place to check the conformance of the process and products to standards. The
results of the audit are put up for management review and then corrections are made where needed.
External audits also take place and then customer feedback is harvested and put in place for

Negotiation Report Pakistani Prunes Essay
Negotiation simulation:
The Pakistani Prunes
The case is about a negotiation with a competitor to buy Pakistani prunes in order to use them to save
lives. In fact, being a world leader of genetic engineering processes, I need Pakistani prunes to work
on people. However, my direct competitor needs Pakistani prunes too and we have to find a deal
before the day after.
The outcome has been buying fifty fifty in the short term. In fact, we agreed to share the limited
resources on the short term, and then find another agreement 5 years after because each 5 years there
are lots of changes thanks to progress of researches etc. we decided during the auction to offer 2
millions as our first offer, and to make our maximum as 4 millions. I ... Show more content on

At this time, he asked me to do fifty fifty, I agreed on that statement because I thought that he will
spend all his money and I will save some if I need it in the future. The other issue was to agree on a
short term and a long term agreement because thanks to researches and progress, things are changing
each five years. So we agreed on a fifty fifty share in the sort term but we also signed to review our
agreement in few years, depending on the progress and changes. My strategy was firstly to try to know
more about the other party s ambitions, goals, strategy etc. Dr Sanchez told me a lot about what he
wanted to do with prunes, how much he wanted to spend, what he wanted in the short term and long
term since the beginning of the discussion so I decided to trust what he said to me, even if I was
maybe wrong doing that, I had the feeling that he was trustful, he was open to me and didn t seem to
lie. His strategy was to expose the all situation in order to obtain the maximum he could have from
me. I think he knew that he had a really limited budget and that the best thing would be to cooperate
and not to compete. The critical moments has been firstly the moment when he told how much he had
to spend on it because he gave me an important information, the second one has been when I learnt
about his goals because I could analyse the long term and short term strategies we had to

Socrates Views On The Allegory Of The Cave
In the allegory of the cave, Socrates is explaining to the student how we are blinded by what we are
only allowed to see. If we were to see the truth, then we would return to tell the others, but they would
not believe you.
If you put that into today, you could compare it to the conspiracy theorists. They think that the
government is hiding us from the truth, and that the only way to learn is to go beyond the boundaries
set by the law. If you saw the report about the Roswell incident, you would see that they describe the
spacecraft as circular, 50 feet in diameter, and held three bodies of human shape, three feet tall,
dressed in metallic cloth of a fine texture. I think that that proves the existence of aliens, or midgets

How Climate Affect Eurasia
The Europeans had a climate where they were able to grow productive crops and domesticate animals,
creating a surplus of food, freeing some people from food production to become specialists who were
able to create advanced tools and weaponry. Because the Europeans had time, steel, and immunity to
smallpox, due to their exposure to domesticated animals, they could decimate populations, appropriate
there resources, and conquer the world. The first inequality that geography caused was the
development of agriculture in areas such as Eurasia, versus the lack of development in places such as
Papua New Guinea. Geographic location changes what crops can grow by affecting the climate of the
given area. The climate then affects what plants can grow ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In order for animals to live in an area, two basic needs have to be met by that location. First, the
climate in that area must conform with the climate the specific species needs to survive. As explained
previously, the climate of an area relates to its geographic location. This is why animals such as polar
bears live in Antarctica and Alaska, areas farther from the equator, which have less sunlight and less
warmth. The second requirement is that there has to be food which the animal is able to digest.
Animals such as cows, which depend on grass for food, would not be able to live in an arid or desert
like environment. Grass just isn t going to grow there. This means that areas which have prime
conditions for containing domesticable animals, which just so happened to be Eurasia, have a
significant advantage in the form of technological development over areas which don t have the right
climate or the right foods to sustain domesticated animals. Because these animals provided a
sustainable source of food, as well as performing farming tasks such as pulling plows, they gave
societies with domesticable animals access to a very important resource, time. With that, these
societies were able to develop concepts such as art and to sustain specialists. Not all animals can be
domesticated. They have to be able to cooperate with humans and make economic sense. In order for a
species to be domesticable, it has to have the inclination to not attack or eat humans, otherwise, the
species could be dangerous to domesticate. Along with that comes the ability to actually control the
species. A species has to have a hierarchy like social structure in order for humans to be able to control
a whole pack of animals, which is much more sensible than trying to train every individual animal.
They also need to be economically sensible.

Richard Wright s Native Son
Richard Wright s book, Native Son, is considered one of the pioneers of African American literature
within mainstream America (Ann Rayson). The book follows Bigger Thomas s journey through self
realization, while exposing the line of racism and its effects in 1930s Chicago. Yet, for an African
American narrative, the story lacks one key character, a strong woman. The women Wright includes in
his story are only there as a tool to better shape Bigger s, or another man s, character. While the lack of
any strong, female character could be based on Richard Wright s own life, his presentation of Mrs.
Thomas, Vera, Mrs. Dalton, Peggy, Mary, and Bessie all lack the characteristics required to fulfill the
strong female lead that African American literature demands. Despite of the reasoning behind
justification or condemnation for Wright s characters, when considering Wright s life it is clear that a
strong female character was missing. Past criticisms of Native Son have normalized Bigger s extreme
violence and commodification towards women, given Bigger s character. In How Bigger was Born
Wright even argues that all characters are portrayed exclusively as seen from Bigger s perspective
(Wright, xxxi). Literary critics and feminist challenge this justification based upon Wright s authority
as the author. They argue instead that If read as the negative polarity of the text, this process of male
reification and appropriation pervades the work. (France, 414). Every woman in the

Essay on he Meiji Restoration in Japan
In 1868, The Meiji Restoration in Japan begins as the Emperor Meiji oversees an era of rapid
modernization, creates a conscript army, and abolishes the samurai class ranking which has defined
order in Japan since the 1600 s. Education is reformed, a constitution is created; a parliament
established. Victory in wars with Russia and China will begin the dominant period of Japanese
nationalism and influence leading to World War II.
Japan in modern times is one of the most technologically advanced countries in the world. This
modern image that Japan hasn t been around forever, Japans decision to change from an old traditional
country to a westernised one came in 1868, and it took only 50 years for the improvements to be
made. In order to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Now realizing that Japan must play an international role in the world, they were united in looking
towards the West. They hoped to adapt western ideas while retaining the values of the East.
Government stability was crucial to this objective. In 1873 a new tax system provided a secure
revenue base and abolished the feudal land system. In 1877 the conscript army defeated a major
samurai revolt led by Saigo Takamori, a leading figure in the imperial restoration. Inflation reduced
the value of government revenues, and between 1881 and 1885 a rigorous deflation policy initiated by
Matsasukata Masayoshi stabilized the currency. The incredible speed of adaptation shown by the
change in systems allowed the Restoration to go smoother and faster, it gave the people incentives to
work towards a greater Japan, especially when all classes were equal.
The young Meiji government worked hard to balance production for domestic use as well as for
export. Protection for native industries was a prime consideration, but the new internationalists
understood the necessity for an accelerated industrial revolution in Japan. They were quick to adopt
western methods in heavy industries and in the processing of textiles. The foundations for some of the
great fortunes of Japan were laid in the early Meiji period, when the government, after nationalising
and developing such industries as shipbuilding, mining, railroads, electricity and silk

Essay #2 Leibniz s law
TA: Jordan Bell
A Dualist s Point of View: How Mental States are distinct from Physical States The mind and the body
are very controversial entities that has caused philosophical debate between dualists and physicalists.
Common knowledge states that the mind inevitably will affect what the body does. The mind and
body issue is a question of what the nature of the mind is and how it relates to the body. The mind is
the psychological aspect of your being as in your mental state. The body is all physical parts of you:
your height, weight, color. With all this in mind, we can use Leibniz s Law to make an argument
supporting either a physicalist or dualist point of view. I will be ... Show more content on

Physical states are investigated by the sciences and mostly are measurable. Physical properties include
but are not limited to color, shape, weight, smell, and opacity. In the eyes of a dualist these states are
completely different but a physicalist would argue that they are equivalent. The argument that physical
and mental states are in fact distinct and can be made valid is shown through Leibniz s Law also
known as the notion of sameness. To understand Leibniz s Law we must first master identity. This
identity is not in terms of qualitative identity like twins but numerical identity. Numerical identity is
the notion of being the same thing as and that Everything is identical with itself. The structure for
Leibniz s law is if X equals Y then all aspects of X must equal all aspects of Y. Leibniz s Law can be
used to compare physical and mental states depending on if a dualist or a physicalist is making the
argument. The structure for a dualist is as follows: premise 1: mental states have property X, premise
2: physical states lack property X, therefore mental states and physical states are different because one
has while the one lacks a certain property. Here is my argument for a dualist: mental states have the
properties that include emotion, physical states lack emotion. Therefore mental states and physical
states are not the same. In premise one I argue that mental states have properties that include emotion.

Do Connections With Buy-Side Analyst Research Analysis
Critique: Cici, Shane, Yang (2017), Do Connections with Buy Side analysts inform Sell Side Analyst
Research? It is easier to be the first, rather than the best. I Front End Motivation Following Brown,

further investigate the flow of information between buy and sell side analysts (SSAs). Brown et al
(2016) found that 55.10% of BSAs have conversations with SSAs more than 24 time per year. Clearly,
this frequency of private communication is interesting as it suggests that the flow of private
information flows both ways, rather than just to BSAs from SSAs. The methodology employed by the
authors is the first attempt to empirically formalise this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If a BSA is covering 20 stocks and communicating approximately 30 times per year is the effect as
pronounced as it was found to be in Table 3? 30 conversations for 20 stocks, likely with a range of
SSAs at a few research houses does not necessarily build strong relationships that would induce
private information sharing. It may be valuable to adjust for industry. SSAs in oil and gas are likely
more valuable to BSAs due to their expert knowledge required, or in the opposite case some funds
directly hire former staff members of their largest holdings in order to inform their modelling and
competitor modelling. Exploring industries with more niche or complex systems could be valuable to
remove the aggregated effect. Construct Validity As noted previously the construct validity of their
primary contribution is questionable but it is the first to attempt to define a publicly unobservable
relationship. The major issue is that the 13F reports only indicate what actually went into the portfolio
whereas the most value a SSA adds to the BSA investment process is before the stock enters the
portfolio. Although the authors are primarily focused on the BSA to SSA information flow, without
adequately capturing the nature of the relationship at the most important phase the results are likely to
be misrepresentative. Similarly, the CONNECTION term focuses on information swapped about a
single stock. However, in reality, it may be the case that the

The Success Of An English Language Learner
Success in EWRT 1A From almost 8000 miles away landing here, I not only packed up my luggage
full of clothes and shoes, but also had my determination to gain a band new and successful life here in
the United States. I choose here for studying and seizing more opportunity for self accomplishment.
Undoubtedly, China, where I come from, owns the very different system of education and language.
Like many of the Chinese students studying abroad, I have gone through the roughest part of that
pattern and have been taken a glance of the outside world. I chose to escape from where I got used to
and started my journey here with my dream of a better and even successful life. It is obvious that
language would be the first major problems I need to face directly. As an English language learner
here in the United States, probably I am not at the same level as those who are native speakers here.
Thus, there will be more problems for me to overcome it and to success. Mixed up with my
confidence and faith to achieving, along with my experiences and skills gained in learning language
from both China and here, I believe I can achieve the goal of success in EWRT 1A. My family
background prepared me to be successful in English 1A. Actually they neither speak English nor train

Ref [29] provides an official benchmark and evaluation method for validating the correctness of
optimized WRF codes by employing the RMSE value, which is a frequently utilized statistic in the
form of: RMSE = vuut 1n Xni=1 ( fi − o i ) 2 , (5) where for the case of WRF, fi represents the ith
component of the forecast variables on the mesh, o i is the corresponding observed variable
component and n is the number of mesh cells on the computational domain. To get the RMSE,
comparisons are conducted between the original results and the results obtained with the input being

CONUS 12KM provided in [29], we compare the computational results of our generated WSM5 codes
on different platforms with the original WRF WSM5 code on IVB and calculate the RMSE values for

  • 4. A Perspective On Human Rights INSTITUTIONAL CHANGE Having identified that the legalist perspective is crude, in that it fails to recognise the broader moral nature of human rights, and restrictive, in its recognition, utilisation and understanding of human right, allows a further debasement of the perspective, in that it utterly misinterprets human rights violations by both individualising, and decontextualizing them This point picks up a recurrent theme of this paper, that a legalist perspective on human rights has a reactionary approach with a focus on identifying the wrongdoer of a human rights violation , rather than to set peremptory guidelines that outline how to live and act in harmony with human rights or seeking to bring about any overarching change in behaviour , or indeed, systematic institutional change. This method of focusing only on the wrongdoer foreshadows the danger Arndt waned of in that a society can convince itself that by identifying and removing all the bad men it has sufficiently and absolutely dealt with the evil. Law, particularly Criminal Law, negatively effects the lens on which we view the human rights movement. Though criminal law is by no mean the only legal enforcement avenue available, it has nevertheless become the enforcement tool of choice[11]. As the criminal law lens seeks to identify the bad man it utterly individualises and decontextualizes our understand of human rights as the lens hold no capacity to recognise the bureaucracy, societal issues or ... • 5. Poverty In Developing Countries In today s global economy, if we want economic growth and development in developing countries, improvements need to be made that provide opportunities for the well being of the citizens. Economic growth and development has factors that include poverty and life expectancy rates. The various causes of poverty make a huge impact and it changes trends in many countries that effect the way people live. Even with certain changes that the government has made, numerous individuals and nations are still living in a state of poverty. Poverty is a significant issue to society that may be overlooked in certain countries because it is normalized, especially in developing countries, such as India, Africa, Haiti and more. The citizens of these countries may be living off of $2.00 or less to provide for themselves and their family. • 7. Comparing Grendel V, And The Epic Of Beowulf Beowulf is an old tale told by many authors and it was edited throughout time. There are many similarities and differences in the film, Beowulf, and the original poem. I, honestly, really enjoyed watching the movie compared to reading the story because it is packed with very exciting scenes that are filled with all out action. A major difference between the two is that Grendel is not such a cruel monster as they portray him to be in the poem. In the film, he is actually quite like a child. He has very sensitive hearing, so when they celebrate at Herot, it seems to send pain throughout his body to the point that he attempts to claw his own ears out. He ambushes Hrothgar s feast because of the excessive noise that was bothering him. After Grendel kills the lot of people at the party, Hrothgar tells everyone that if someone were to come kill the evil beast, then he would give them gold and riches and basically anything they want. This is when Beowulf comes to take matters into his own hands. Beowulf hears about Grendel killing Hrothgar s men and wants to kill the beast to give himself a legendary reputation. He brings fourteen of his bravest men with him to Denmark to kill Grendel. When he arrives, Unferth, a warrior in the tribe of the Spear Danes, comes in drunk and challenges Beowulf s boasts and claims about himself by telling a story he heard about Beowulf s swimming race with Breca. He suggests that Beowulf lost the competition, and Beowulf corrects him, but never ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The Collapse Of North Korean State Essay Assess the possibility of the collapse of the North Korean state in the next 5 7 years by examining the influence and impact of relevant geopolitical factors/conditions. As one of the most antagonizing countries, North Korea seems to find the wrath of the United Nations more frequently than any other sovereign nation. The country s human rights abuses and violations of international law have led the international community to impose heavy trade sanctions with North Korea (cite). While the country attempts to be largely self sufficient, malnutrition is a growing problem for the people of North Korea (worldhunger). Based on its geographic location and violation of international law in regards to nuclear capabilities and human rights abuses, North Korea is in a perilous situation in the next seven years. Its increasing globalization and fervent nationalism suggest, however, that while the country may evolve and become more globalized, it will survive as the contentious nation state it is today. The physical geography of North Korea does little to stabilize the 5 to 7 year outlook for the country. Despite being bordered by two amicable countries to the North, China and Russia, North Korea s southern border makes its physical geography a potentially destabilizing factor. The Northern border is largely shared with China, stretching along the Yalu River (Yu). This border is where the majority of imports come into North Korea, as China is North Korea s largest trading partner ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. George S Patton Emotions Although at first glance General George S. Patton is anything but creative, if you think about it, he is one of the most creative people of all time. Both his battle strategies and speeches were creative, bold, and extremely powerful. Each of his speeches, particularly his speech to the Third Army, are some of the most powerful and motivated I have read. Each and every speech he spoke riled his troops and made them want to crush the Nazis and win the war. Many people dislike Patton and his speeches because of his vulgar language, but there is no denying the effect the speeches had on the troops who served under him and the power in each word he spoke. http://www.wjpbr.com/patton.html Innovation is a quality that is instilled in each and ... If an individual wants privacy for their personal life instead of national security, that is providing yourself with less protection. It is said that privacy is one of the cherished freedoms in our democracy. Everyone wants privacy in their life, but privacy can only go so far without having protection. National security is what keeps the United States safe. National security is the building blocks of a country, because without security anyone can take a country or destroy it. Most people want their life private and want only themselves to know what is going on, but if national security means keeping yourself and others around safe, why not choose it instead? When ... Employers place cameras in stores when you walk in and around different isles. They even place cameras in their parking lots. • 12. Charles Dickens Hard Times For These Times Fancy is a noun. It means the power of the mind to imagine things. Do not think about it; do not think about thinking about it. Just memorize it. Can you? There is only one right path that society has pinned you on. Like a toy car on a wooden train track, you are expected to complete the course without straying from it. If you do, you are considered broken. Yet, what exactly is the point of mindlessly walking the same path as everyone else, only to constantly find yourself memorizing empty facts over and over again? In Hard Times for these Times, Charles Dickens embodies the consequences of an absolutely factual world: blindness, imbalance, and nonfulfillment. Through the convoluted stories of the opposite worlds, Sissy s journey to becoming a jewel of balance, Louisa s tragic fight for fulfillment, and the harmonious character Sleary, Dickens defines the urgency for the proportional combination of fact and fancy. Gradgrind s education system is structured to plucking imagination and emotions out of the lives of children, resulting in dangerous, machine like human beings. He closed mindedly abides to rules and facts; dreams and abstractness is a crime. For example, Bounderby, Gradgrind s subordinate, insists that his workers expect to be fed on turtle soup and vension, with a golden spoon (72), while on the other hand, the workers believe that they are unfairly treated like dumb objects. Both Bounderby and the workers think their opinion is the fact, but it shrivels ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Blue Collar Brilliance And The Busy Carter Analysis Work and leisure, these are two integral parts of human life, however there is much debate about which of them is more important as well as what the proper balance between them should be. Those such as Mike Rose and Nicholas Carr, in their articles Blue Collar Brilliance and World and Screen respectively, emphasis how the benefits of working, physically as well as mentally, are often forgotten. On the other side, however, Tim Freider in his work The Busy Trap contends that leisure is just as neglected in our fast paced world. Despite these seemingly different statements, these works share quite a lot on when looks just below the surface. In Blue Collar Brilliance Mike Rose describes his appreciation for the often unnoticed intelligence that many blue collar workers posses as well as the positive impact that physical work can have on the lives of those taking part in it. Nothing he says encapsulates this more than his description of his uncle Joe working on a car assembly line, For Joe the shop floor provided what school did not; it was like schooling, he said, a place where you re constantly learning. Joe Joe learned the most efficient way to use his body with a set of routines that were quick and preserved energy. (1036). This parallels the findings of Carr in World and Screen where he describes how by using our ancestral navigation abilities we keep our mind healthy mentally, by working out the parts of the brain that are in charge of memory, and physically by ... Slave Culture Topic: The nature, beliefs, and practices of religious life among slaves The practice of slavery in the United States is a topic that has been researched, written about, and continues to be a source of contention when discussed. Throughout history, slavery has been an obvious controversial subject, with the main question being whether it was needed or would be abolished. Slaves in America are typically defined as people who were treated as property rather than human beings, and slaves were subjected to what would be considered inhumane treatment on a daily basis. As a way to survive, slave nature included slaves seeking peace through religious practices, praying and singing hymns during their chores. Religious beliefs and practices shaped the lifestyle and culture of those forced into the practice of slavery, enabling them to survive harsh and cruel circumstances beyond their control. Slaves did not expect to see liberty and freedom revealed in their lifetime, but they prayed that their children would not have to live the lives they were living, and that they, themselves, would live freely in Heaven. However, did slaves stay faithful to their Christian beliefs? Were they focused only on God and a future life of freedom? How Climate Affect Eurasia The Europeans had a climate where they were able to grow productive crops and domesticate animals, creating a surplus of food, freeing some people from food production to become specialists who were able to create advanced tools and weaponry. Because the Europeans had time, steel, and immunity to smallpox, due to their exposure to domesticated animals, they could decimate populations, appropriate there resources, and conquer the world. The first inequality that geography caused was the development of agriculture in areas such as Eurasia, versus the lack of development in places such as Papua New Guinea. Geographic location changes what crops can grow by affecting the climate of the given area. The climate then affects what plants can grow ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In order for animals to live in an area, two basic needs have to be met by that location. First, the climate in that area must conform with the climate the specific species needs to survive. As explained previously, the climate of an area relates to its geographic location. This is why animals such as polar bears live in Antarctica and Alaska, areas farther from the equator, which have less sunlight and less warmth. The second requirement is that there has to be food which the animal is able to digest. Animals such as cows, which depend on grass for food, would not be able to live in an arid or desert like environment. Grass just isn t going to grow there. This means that areas which have prime conditions for containing domesticable animals, which just so happened to be Eurasia, have a significant advantage in the form of technological development over areas which don t have the right climate or the right foods to sustain domesticated animals. Because these animals provided a sustainable source of food, as well as performing farming tasks such as pulling plows, they gave societies with domesticable animals access to a very important resource, time. With that, these societies were able to develop concepts such as art and to sustain specialists. Not all animals can be domesticated. They have to be able to cooperate with humans and make economic sense. In order for a species to be domesticable, it has to have the inclination to not attack or eat humans, otherwise, the species could be dangerous to domesticate. Along with that comes the ability to actually control the species. A species has to have a hierarchy like social structure in order for humans to be able to control a whole pack of animals, which is much more sensible than trying to train every individual animal. They also need to be economically sensible. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 28. Richard Wright s Native Son Richard Wright s book, Native Son, is considered one of the pioneers of African American literature within mainstream America (Ann Rayson). The book follows Bigger Thomas s journey through self realization, while exposing the line of racism and its effects in 1930s Chicago. Yet, for an African American narrative, the story lacks one key character, a strong woman. The women Wright includes in his story are only there as a tool to better shape Bigger s, or another man s, character. While the lack of any strong, female character could be based on Richard Wright s own life, his presentation of Mrs. Thomas, Vera, Mrs. Dalton, Peggy, Mary, and Bessie all lack the characteristics required to fulfill the strong female lead that African American literature demands. Despite of the reasoning behind justification or condemnation for Wright s characters, when considering Wright s life it is clear that a strong female character was missing. Past criticisms of Native Son have normalized Bigger s extreme violence and commodification towards women, given Bigger s character. In How Bigger was Born Wright even argues that all characters are portrayed exclusively as seen from Bigger s perspective (Wright, xxxi). Literary critics and feminist challenge this justification based upon Wright s authority as the author. They argue instead that If read as the negative polarity of the text, this process of male reification and appropriation pervades the work. (France, 414). Every woman in the ... In 1873 a new tax system provided a secure revenue base and abolished the feudal land system. In 1877 the conscript army defeated a major samurai revolt led by Saigo Takamori, a leading figure in the imperial restoration. Inflation reduced the value of government revenues, and between 1881 and 1885 a rigorous deflation policy initiated by Matsasukata Masayoshi stabilized the currency. The incredible speed of adaptation shown by the change in systems allowed the Restoration to go smoother and faster, it gave the people incentives to work towards a greater Japan, especially when all classes were equal. Common knowledge states that the mind inevitably will affect what the body does. The mind and body issue is a question of what the nature of the mind is and how it relates to the body. The mind is the psychological aspect of your being as in your mental state. The body is all physical parts of you: your height, weight, color. Physical states are investigated by the sciences and mostly are measurable. Physical properties include but are not limited to color, shape, weight, smell, and opacity. In the eyes of a dualist these states are completely different but a physicalist would argue that they are equivalent. The argument that physical and mental states are in fact distinct and can be made valid is shown through Leibniz s Law also known as the notion of sameness. To understand Leibniz s Law we must first master identity. This identity is not in terms of qualitative identity like twins but numerical identity. Numerical identity is the notion of being the same thing as and that Everything is identical with itself. The structure for Leibniz s law is if X equals Y then all aspects of X must equal all aspects of Y. Leibniz s Law can be used to compare physical and mental states depending on if a dualist or a physicalist is making the argument. The structure for a dualist is as follows: premise 1: mental states have property X, premise 2: physical states lack property X, therefore mental states and physical states are different because one has while the one lacks a certain property. Here is my argument for a dualist: mental states have the properties that include emotion, physical states lack emotion. Therefore mental states and physical states are not the same. Compared with the direct access mode, DMA transfer has a broader bandwidth and thus cost less time. Besides, the DMA engine works all alone without any assistance of both MPE and CPEs, so the transfer time can also be overlapped with the computation. One of the most important features for the WRF microphysics schemes is that the conversion process may ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ref [29] provides an official benchmark and evaluation method for validating the correctness of optimized WRF codes by employing the RMSE value, which is a frequently utilized statistic in the form of: RMSE = vuut 1n Xni=1 ( fi − o i ) 2 , (5) where for the case of WRF, fi represents the ith component of the forecast variables on the mesh, o i is the corresponding observed variable component and n is the number of mesh cells on the computational domain. To get the RMSE, comparisons are conducted between the original results and the results obtained with the input being perturbed in the lowest order bit to simulate the effect of floating point round off error. For simplicity, we only show the validation results of the WSM5 scheme as an example. Using the benchmark CONUS 12KM provided in [29], we compare the computational results of our generated WSM5 codes on different platforms with the original WRF WSM5 code on IVB and calculate the RMSE values for some representative variables in both single and double precision. Table IV lists the comparison results, where the first three columns in the RMSE section represent the RMSE values of the WSM5 scheme on IVB with respect to that on SW26010 MPE, SW26010 CPEs and KNC from left to right orderly. In addition, The last column (IVB, KNC) precise adds the RMSEs of IVB with respect to KNC in high precision by the compiler option fp model precise fimf precision=high. Observed from the data shown in Table IV, the RMSEs for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
