The War On Drugs Should End
The United States absurdly spends billions to concentrate its efforts on the interdiction of substance
use. Law enforcement and labors of exclusion have not been met with reductions in the accessibility
of drugs in America. Aside from being remarkably expensive, drug task agencies have demonstrated
racial discrimination and unequal anguish distressed by minority communities. Ultimately, it costs the
government extreme amounts of taxpayer dollars to maintain this futile war while disregarding the
rights of American citizens.
Minority Target
Since the birth of the United States, people of color have been the object of many societal injustices.
For example, the War on Drugs has produced a staggering number of African American and Latino
arrests and incarceration rates throughout the U.S. Although the levels of drug consumption and
peddling are similar amongst Caucasians, minorities are largely more susceptible to be detained,
prosecuted, and imprisoned for drug law violation. And between federal and state governments, this
discriminatory war costs billions of dollars annually to enforce. The war on drugs should end because
it is awfully biased towards minorities, the epitome of ineffective policy, and unconstitutional.
First, programs such as D.A.R.E. and the Just Say No campaign were launched to bring drug
awareness to children due to the War on Drugs. However, this operation should end because it has
become a war on the people, especially minorities. Major arrest

Pros And Cons Of Charlie Gordon
Learning about the world is challenging enough, but to unlearn it knowing what is being lost is even
more burdensome. Charlie Gordon is a man that learned the world and lost it all. Is knowledge
admirable while it can be retained or is ignorance bliss when it can t? Knowledge is excellent, even if
it is only for a little while, even if it is retained for a short period because people know what the world
is, even when that knowledge is lost, people will retain a certain understanding of the world before
they unlearned it. Some say Knowledge is a wonderful tool in life, but if a man acquires knowledge,
but soon unlearns the knowledge yet understands how the world should be, and then loses it,
ignorance is bliss so the man does not know how people treat them in atrocious ways, and it shall stay
that way for his/her benefit. . All people deserve to acquire Knowledge, so they have the experience of
how life should be. Charlie Gordon acquires knowledge of how the world is and how people treat
people who have mental setbacks. To come from a position where he is made fun of, to know this, and
then back to being treated as a person that has a mental disability, knowing how he is treated has
multiple pros including some cons.
To know information, even if that knowledge hurts you, is useful. Although it may hurt, it is
wonderful because you gain the information. Charlie Gordon learns that his friends are not actually
great friends. After becoming smart Charlie realizes his

The Importance Of Real Property
Statutory deferral when real property is transferred to a corporation with FMV higher than the tax
basis.
The law provides three exceptions where the transfer of Real property to a corporation with market
value higher than the basis is not taxable; 1. The transferor owns more than 80% of voting stock of the
corporation immediately after the transfer 2. The transferor and a group, simultaneously transfer real
property to a corporation and own more than 80% of the corporate voting stock immediately after the
transfer. 3. The transferor already owns 80% voting stock of the corporation and any additional
transfers do not trigger gain. The above transfers only deferred the gain but did not exempt it, pursuant
to § 351. Corporation takes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
IRC § 721, which dictates transfer of property to partnership, is comparable to §351 except it does not
have an 80% or more ownership constraint, you could own 1% of partnership interest the transfer
would still be tax free. In addition, basis rules are like corporate rules upon transfer. The similarity
ends from this point forward, in cases where property is subject to liability, the partner would adjust its
basis in the partnership. Gain, if triggered due to partner s liability decrease, termed deemed
distribution, recognition of this gain could be circumvented by adjusting the transferor s outside basis,
hence no recognition of gain either by the partnership or the partner. In case of liquidating or non
liquidating distribution interplay of sections in partnership law avoids the recognition of gain, and in
both cases basis is adjusted instead. Gain is only triggered when the transferor sells property received
in both liquidating and non liquidating scenarios.

The Importance Of Cultural Diversity In The United States
The United States is a melting pot now more than ever. The biggest reason for this change is largely
due from immigration and birthrates. Over the past thirty years immigrants who have come to
American have been primarily non Europeans including Asians, and people from South and Central
America. In the year 2000, the United States census recorded 2.4 percent of the population in the
United States to have multiracial backgrounds. Although this may not sound like a big number,
Americans have had to adapt to being more culturally competent. Cultural competence is, The process
by which individuals and systems respond respectfully and effectively to people of all cultures,
languages, classes, races, ethnic backgrounds, religions, and other diversity factors in a manner that
recognizes, affirms, and values the worth of individuals, families, and communities and protects and
preserves the dignity of each. The Census Bureau believes that by 2050, nearly fifty percent of
America s population will be minorities. When the civil rights movement began in the 1950 s, African
Americans and other minority groups tried to alert the United States their distinct identities. They felt
that their long history of oppression especially in the United States had to come to an end. Immigrants
who come to this country bring certain qualities that Americans do not obtain. Whether it is their
language, religion, culture or even different political backgrounds. As our nation grows more diverse it

The Glass Menagerie Symbolism
Constantly on the run, always hiding in fear. There was no escaping him and his dreaded army.
December 8, 1937, is when they finally uncovered Charlotte s family. The last thing Charlotte recalls
from that night is her mother being dragged away to her most certain death by the horrid and repulsive
crimson swastika. Symbols have been around since the beginning of the existence of mankind from
the ancient egyptians to Christ. Symbols is humanity s way of expressing feelings, stories, and events
through objects or pictures. Symbols can also have different meaning for different groups of people.
For the Jews, the swastika represents hate and death, but for Hitler and the Nazi army is represented
power and victory. In both plays, The Glass Menagerie ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Ibsen uses macaroons as a symbol of disobedience and deceitfulness. When Nora arrives home to
Helmer he suspects she has gone out and got some sweets which Nora denies when in actuality she
had eaten some macaroons that were hidden in her pocket (Ibsen, 7). Nora denying to her husband
shows how easily she can spout a lie. Nora s disobedience gives a hidden inside to the rebellious side
of Nora. The macaroons also helps to start to develop the relationship between Nora and Torvald.

The Flaws Of Foots Moral System Essay
Shortcomings of Foots Moral System
In Morality as a System of Hypothetical Imperatives, Philippa Foot argues that moral judgments are in
hypothetical imperatives rather than categorical imperatives. For Kant, categorical imperatives are
actions that are good in themselves and do not depend on desires, while, hypothetical imperatives are
actions that are good to some purpose (306). According to Foot, hypothetical imperatives alone serve
as the basis of moral judgments because categorical imperatives give us no reason to obey them. In
this paper, I will explain foots argument that moral judgments are hypothetical imperatives. I will then
argue that that Foot s theory of moral judgments fails in two ways. First, placing moral judgments in
hypothetical imperatives fails to designate moral from immoral contingent ends, and second, the
hypothetical imperative weakens morality by making it too optional. To show this, I will first argue
that placing moral judgments in hypothetical imperatives begs the question of what is the moral basis
of its own contingent end. I will then propose a decision procedure for determining the moral value of
the contingent ends of hypothetical imperatives. Then I will argue that the Leningrad does not solve
and that basing moral judgments in hypothetical imperatives still makes morality too optional.
In her paper, Foot argues that moral judgments must exist in either categorical or hypothetical
imperatives. If moral judgments are not in categorical

The Importance Of Selfwareness
Q 11: Why is it important to be self aware and use self reflection in relation to your work with clients
and colleagues?
Self awareness helps managers to know management skills, which promotes skill development. But
self awareness also helps them find situations in which they will be most effective, assists with
intuitive decision making, and guide them in stress management and motivation of oneself and others.
(Raj Soin Collage of Business Wright State University, 2017).
Skill development this improves projects that should normally begin with an assessment of the gap
between the current situation and the desired future situation. This will surely have effect on other
workers being it good or bad. (Raj Soin Collage of Business Wright State University, 2017).
Knowing your strengths and weaknesses, being aware of yourself helps exploit your strengths and
cope with your weaknesses. Like looking at the broader picture, but can t pay attention on much on
details. Is good you talk to colleagues and subordinates that are more detail oriented when making
major decisions. (Raj Soin Collage of Business Wright State University, 2017).
Developing intuitive decision making skills in this situation manager access large amount of
unorganised and ambiguous data. It is better to bring on board others since making a decision out of
the data processed will be a bit challenging. Ideas from other people could help in this situation.
Personal decision may result in positive or negative

Heteronormativity In Let It Go
The Disney cinematic universe is riddled with an obscene heteronormativity that appears to be
subverted in Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck s, Frozen. The entirety of this film removes itself from the
particular expected narrative of its counterparts. This is particularly clear in the title song of the film,
Let it Go. Sung by queer icon Idina Menzel, this song seems to divulge from the implications of
heteronormativity and showcase clear insinuations of a coming out narrative . Using the works of
Somerville, Freud, Wittig, and Butler this paper will aim to follow the protagonist through the song
and her queer narrative. Unbound by the typical narrative of heterosexual love and freed by self
expression, this song allows for a clear queer reading ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Using Somerville s concepts of heteronormativity, it is possible to experience the expectations of Elsa
s parents and society. She sings, don t let them in, don t let them see, be the good girl you always have

monarch. In Subjects of Sex, Gender, Desire, Judith Butler speaks of norms of intelligibility, namely
what is accepted as normal by a society. Elsa has hidden away and refused to let people see within her,
she hides so as not to be presented as freakish or monstrous. She is unable to fully present herself in a
way that would be viewed as normal or expected so she instead removes herself from the view of her
society. Butler also mentions the concept of the heterosexual matrix and the expectations of a
heteronormative society. Elsa lives in a society that instructs her to hide the aspects of herself that do
not conform to the expected norms, she alters the perception of herself so as to fit into the mold of the
heterosexual matrix. She escapes it only by accepting aspects of herself that are non normalized and
inherently odd. After escaping this society she realizes the freedom in full expression of self, I m never

How Did The Court System Work During The Middle Ages
How did the court system work during the Middle Ages ?
The court system in the middle ages worked by using the term guilty until proven innocent and using
trials of ordeal to determine innocence. The courts weren t based on the idea of an accused being
innocent until proven guilty as there was no concept to believe the accused was innocent. It was the
job of the accused to prove their innocence. The accused could do this by taking an oath to prove their
innocence. The accused would also be required bring oath helpers, these helpers would normally know
the person very well. The oath helpers swore that they believe the accused is innocent. The oath
system worked well as it was very efficient and workable as it was hard for an evil person to be able to

enough oath helpers. In the absence of oath helpers, the accused was able to prove their innocence by

dangerous test. The ordeal would usually be life or death. Examples of a trial by ordeal are Trial by
Fire , Trial by Hot iron and Trial by Water . The trial by is when the defendant is in a fetal position and
thrown into water. If the accused sank and drowned they were innocent but if they floated they were
presumed guilty. In many of the ordeals the only way to prove your innocence was also by dying. In

Do you want get married with the one you love or do you want to find someone who has many

people avoid their marriage from divorce? Young people nowadays can have a chance and freedom to
get married by two main ways: love marriage and arranged marriage. A lot of people in Western

Due to that, the couple might end up with suffering and divorce. In case of love marriage, people
might expect more from their partner, largely because they have fallen in love before marriage. This
leads to lesser compromises, as the person expects more from his or her partner. On the other hand,
this shows that in an arranged marriage, the couple will not expect anything from the partner instead
give a full commitment to adjust themselves with their partner. Furthermore, world divorce statistic
illustrates that India records the lowest rate of divorce which is 1.1% compared to the other countries
such as United States which records 54% of divorce rate leading the most high divorce rate (American
for Divorce Reform, 2002. Retrieved from: http://divorcerate2011.com/divorce statistics/ ) As
arranged marriage is a common practice in Indian culture but it is impractical in Western countries, the
practice of arranged marriage may become one of the factors that contribute to this significant
statistic. In fact, arranged marriage somehow reduces the divorce rate. Therefore, these prove that
arranged marriage is more stable than love marriage.

The desire to discover something can be the effect of the human condition or metaphysical with the
idea of emotions causing transformation of perspectives of oneself and the world. In Frost s poem
Mending Wall , a contemplation regarding the repairing of a wall between a persona and their
neighbour reveals that they hold conflicting views about the necessity of a wall. It is shown that the
persona disapproves the mending of the wall through the personification of apple trees. The persona
uses it as a logical example of the futile nature of having fences for fruit trees; thus, the composer
challenges not just the neighbour but also the audience to speculate the reasons for having a fence. A
bitter clash of opinions is unveiled when the persona ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The protagonist is a man who experiences a series of events in attempt to pursue a girl he has never
had any verbal interaction with. An element of romance is prevailed through the establishing shot
where winds blow a piece of paper with the girl s lipstick stain and coincidentally lands on the man.
This is a metaphor for fate, although it is juxtaposed by a reverse shot, where it shows the man that he
is unaware that the women has left and this experience is shared with the audience. Thus, it creates an
impact on the audience as well leaving them wondering whether the man and the women will ever see
each other again. A high angle shot is established in the following scene where he is relishing the piece
of paper that was originally owned by the girl. It depicts that the man desires to see her again. The
man experiences an unforeseen turn of event when he realises the girl is in the building across from
his work office. He attempts to create dozens of paper planes and toss them, at the window where she
is standing, in order to get her attention. The anthropomorphism of the planes is a manifestation of the
self discovery of his desire to be with her and is complemented with jubilant music, which gradually

The Happiness Trap Analysis
Recently, I read the book The Happiness Trap by Russ Harris and Bev Aisbett and at first I really
hated the book. It was patronizing, belittling and used an excess amount of exclamation marks. It also
said things such as let your mind chatter away like a radio in the background which I do not agree
with at all. I think that you should always pay attention to your emotions and thoughts, and that
dealing with them is much different than ignoring them. I overlooked this line, however and continued
reading, and athough I didn t like it at first, I tried to keep an open mind about the book, as the reviews
were good and some of the lessons made sense. So I begrudgingly read through the book, trying to

A Connection Between Existence And Absence
Life could sometimes be harsh and not grant us the ability to care for ourselves and therefore rely on
others to survive. Being unable to care for oneself leads to a diminished sense of self esteem. Not until
the time we lack the ability to perform the things we want, do we feel the absence and thus wish for
their existence. This is so because we have a humane nature of taking everything for granted. In his
play Endgame, Beckett uses many absurd elements to make a connection between existence and
absence. Throughout his characters Clov and Hamm, Beckett uses each of them to demonstrate their
incompleteness and thus the need to seek the help of one other in order to survive and achieve their
complete existence. Being a caregiver or a nurse requires a lot of patience. Clov is the sole person
whom helps Hamm with his activities of daily living. That job for Clov is identical to being someone s
caregiver or nurse. It is similar to a nursing assistant taking care of an elderly or a disabled person in a
senior living facility, nursing home or a hospital. There could be times when the job may seem
punitive because of the redundancy of certain tasks. For instance, there could be someone who is
bedridden and requires a lot of cares versus another patient who is independent but only needs
minimal assistance. In Endgame, Hamm relies on Clov for helping him but yet Clov is complaining
about the redundancy and repetitiveness of one of the tasks: getting him up and putting him to bed.

Blindness In Oedipus The King Essay
Even those who acquire the physical ability to see may be blind to truth and the comprehension of it.
Although humans have a large capacity for knowledge, even the smartest individual is prone to error
and may be ultimately sightless to the obvious solution due to what they chose not to see. This theme
of constant and initial blindness becomes recurring in Sophocles Oedipus the King. This recurring
theme seems to play an important role in the development of the events and characters in Oedipus the
King. The tragic hero Oedipus, for example, is the quintessential example of a character who
experiences continual blindness. This continual blindness contributes to the dire fate of Oedipus when
at the conclusion of the play he finally realizes that he had actually been blind to the truth for many
years. Jocasta, Oedipus mother and wife, is another ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Box Jellyfish: Nothing Square About It For many people, water is a source of relaxation and comfort,
while others believe that it can be dangerous and deceiving, but often times people do not look at what
lives among it. Whether it is a body of fresh water, or a body of salt water, many creatures lurk among
the depths of seas, oceans, lakes, and rivers without gaining the attention of human beings. With this, a
plethora of sea creatures that tend to remain hidden can harm human beings. People believe that
sharks are the deadliest sea creature on the planet, however, this is a false statement. Sharks are most

As for the blue ringed octopus, this animal can somewhat compare to a sea wasp when it comes to
staying hidden. The blue ringed octopus can control its dermal cells, allowing it to camouflage itself in
the rocks and reefs throughout their respective oceans. Also, the size of the octopus helps its case
against box jellies, being that the blue ringed octopus is no bigger than a golf ball (Barnett). But this
could hurt the octopus if it is looked at from another viewpoint; the size of the box jellyfish and its
tentacles are the reason that it is above the blue ringed octopus in lethality. The length of the box
jellyfish allows it to inflict more damage, and release more venom than a blue ringed octopus. By
looking at box jellies from this perspective, they are clearly more deadly than their fellow dangerous
sea creatures. With the possibilities of dying by way of cardiac arrest, heart failure, drowning, and
Irukandji Syndrome, box jellies have many ways to kill a human being. These aquatic devils have

Salmonella Of Salmonella And Enteritidis
Salmonella is a communicable disease that is caused by the salmonella enterica bacterium. There are
many types of this bacteria including salmonella Typhimurium and Enteritidis. Salmonella is most
common in young children and elderly who have impaired immune systems meaning they are more
likely to contract infections. Salmonella is one of the most reported causes of food poisoning in the
UK.
Types:
All types of salmonella come from the genus Salmonella, the bacteria then gets divided up into
categories. The majority of the components in each bacteria are about 95% identical for example E.
coli and Salmonella are around 60% identical at the DNA level.
There are 3 main serovars of salmonella; Typhimurium, Typhi and Enteritidis. A serovar is a distinct
variation of a bacteria and are classed together based upon their similarities. The distinct types help
the scientists create effective treatment to target the certain type of salmonella, which makes the
treatment more effective because it distinguishes the exact strain of salmonella to cure it.
Biological structure:
This biological structure of a salmonella bacteria contains; ribosomes, cytoplasm, bacterial flagellum,
mesosome, cell wall, and a plasma membrane.
Ribosomes This is a tiny particle made up from RNA and a large number of proteins found in the
cytoplasm. Ribosomes bind to messenger RNA and then synthesises proteins.

Merit Scholarship Analysis
I am writing my appeal for the Merit Scholarship for the upcoming Fall 2015 2016 semester at Dillard
University.
In life there are many transitions and change that occurs. Coming from L.W. Higgins High School in
Marrero, I maintained a 3.0+ GPA. I had good relationships with my teachers and school was never a
problem for me. The difference is that I had brought the same mentality to Dillard University thinking
that it would be the same, but it was totally different from what I expected. I am being honest that I
was distracted and I have to learn how to balance everything that was going on in my personal life and
it was a struggle to balance my social, spiritual and my education.
With always doing well in school without studying. I learned that I do not know how to study and I
thought I did not need to and I was in for a rude awakening. I was not really asking for help. I didn t
use the resources at student success to help me in areas of studying where I lacked. I started studying
with a group of people that kept me more grounded and I was doing better in my grades and my
overall performance. This is why I picked Dillard as a university because I have met people that really
care and having the want for everyone to succeed. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

III. FACTS:
During World War II, President Franklin Roosevelt signed executive order 9066 that ordered those

military the ability to remove Japanese citizens from any area that would be crucial to national
defense. The petitioner was Fred Korematsu and the respondent is the United States. The issue at hand
was Korematsu lived in San Leandro California who was ordered to move to a Japanese internment
camp. After refusing to leave San Leandro Korematsu was arrested and convicted. Korematsu claimed

COURT DECISION
The Supreme Court decided the case on December 18, 1944. The executive order held and supported
the idea of moving Japanese Americans to internment camps during World War II. The Justices who
supported the United States were Reed, Black, Stone, Douglas, Rutledge, and Frankfurter. The
Justices opposed were Murphy, Jackson, and Roberts. This was a makeup of six votes for the United
States and only three votes against. The Supreme Court agreed with the government to protect the
United states during the war which overruled Korematsu individual rights. VI. OPINION AND
REASONING OF THE COURT:
While the Supreme Court reviewed the case they relied heavily on a case prior, Hirabayashi v. United
States. After the president passed two executive orders giving the secretary of war the ability to
generate military areas. The other order included the ability to remove, supervise, or maintain outside
military areas.
Justice Black s weighed in his opinion which stated:
It should be noted, to begin with, that all legal restrictions which curtail the civil rights of a single
racial group are immediately suspect. That is not to say that all such restrictions are unconstitutional.
It is to say that courts must subject them to the most rigid scrutiny. Pressing public necessity may
sometimes justify the existence of such restrictions; racial antagonism never

increase the risk of debt. Therefore, to avoid the use of debt financing, debt risk can be controlled at a

be in a controlled range of operations, rather than being forced by the debt. This investment
philosophy can also be wielded in life. That suggests people should buy things within their own

away from credit cards (bank loans) and invest in yourself.6 (Elyssa Kirkham, 2017) He has never
borrowed a significant amount not to invest, not for a mortgage 7. He said: Negotiate with creditors to

It is stereotypically correct to say that pink is a girl s color, but that wasn t always so. The history of
how pink came to represent feminism started in WWII, it was up until then the men that were
dominantly wearing pink and were dominantly the gender that was employed. At that time, there was
a female equality/ feminist issue with women being barred into employment. Because of WWII, most
of the men in America were drafted out to war and women substituted in the absence of men s labor.
Accompanying that, women started to wear pink uniforms and aprons, including an inspirational

After making these changes the company declared themselves as the fastest growing wireless
company in the nation. If one takes these three marketing strategies and compare it to how women are
being targeted by retail, one will see that they are the same. According to the research done by Time,
there s a stronger emotional and personal connection to their mobile devices by females. The key
differences between men and woman in relation to their mobile devices is that a woman is more
engaged with her phone in a way that there is more fulfillment in getting things done with her mobile
device. The Un carrier movement is a solution primarily to American females. The strategy of getting
personal interactions with the customers is what females prefer rather than taking to an automated help
line. The second strategy of a faster data service provides an expedited access for females to turn a
passive time into an active time. For instance, when a woman does her daily activities; there are some
down time that she would rather prefer to spend some time on her phone. This is the time that is
referred to as the mobile device is a substitute for a human engagement. T Mobile s third strategy on
rebranding the company into an edgy and highly differentiated market is definitely targeting women
because on all of the promotion and advertisements there is the color pink present. What s also
associated with the marketing materials are more of an alternative punk rock vibe. An electric guitar is
playing in the background and the color is used in a monochromatic theme, whereas the color pink is
the only color that is apparent. One thing that will be guaranteed in all the marketing materials since
the Un carrier would be the distinct shade of pink; which is magenta. This shade of pink is present in
all of the materials that target women. The Un carrier movement is a solution

Fed Ex vs UPS Case Analysis Essay examples

The parcel service industry is made up of four main competitors. These competitors are UPS, FedEx,
Airborne Express, and the U.S. Postal Service. Since 2000, American consumers have spent more than
$50 billion to ship parcels, packages, and overnight letters. New parcel distribution patterns developed
due to the way U.S. manufacturing companies are operating. The Internet has expanded the reach of

Manufactures also depended more on the customer, information technology, and the increase in the
use of technology in all parts of the economy. Companies such as FedEx, UPS, Airborne Express, and
USPS shipped parcels at a faster rate and were more reliable than other rail, motor, and water carriers.
Trends and opportunities of the parcel service industry include globalization, e commerce, and supply
chain management. Internet logistics was FedEx and UPS s fastest growing business. The internet
enabled customers to link directly to retailers and their manufacturers. In 2001, parcel carriers served
almost all of the online market. They were able to provide information on packages to customers
through tracking systems on the web. This allowed customers to plan ahead and decrease delays in
deliveries. It also allowed for faster transactions and lower communication costs. Parcel companies
created partnerships with large Internet retailers. These partnerships allowed parcel service companies
to expand its overall delivery volume. Parcel companies improved tracking by implementing several
technological innovations. These included laser scanners and bar codes, state of the art software
programs, satellite and cell phone communication equipment, electronic information interchanges, and
the Internet.
Globalization is another major trend. Since the emergence of the

Life At Home Recovering Before It Is Safe For Resume Work
Many times after injuries or medical procedures, one is required to spend time at home recovering

decides the length of recovery. The first form of leave is called quarters and is typically 24 to 36
hours. Quarters is typically prescribed to soldiers that have infectious diseases such as the flu. When a
Soldier is given quarters they must stay at home in order to mitigate the spread of the disease and to
allow them to rest and recover. The second form of medical leave is called convalescence leave.

Probably one of the biggest aspects of the Army s Total Compensation plan is the free medical
coverage provided to all soldiers. I cannot think of another organization that offers a totally cost free
medical package for its employees. Also, as I mentioned earlier, the leadership in the Army is very
supportive of soldiers attending medical appointments in order to maintain a high level of medical
readiness, which is a critical aspect of the Army being able to conduct its mission. Soldiers do not see
a physician when they are injured or ill initially. The first line of medical screening includes unit
medical personnel, which includes medics and the unit physician s assistant. If it is determined that the
soldier will require treatment or diagnosis from a physician they are then referred to a doctor. This is a
key way that the Army saves money on its no cost medical coverage. By not having a soldier be seen
by a physician immediately and having a lower ranking medic, who gets paid much less, conduct the
initial assessment and possibly remedy the situation, the Army save substantial money. Of course, if a
soldier is critically injured or ill they can always go to the military installation emergency room for
treatment or call 911 for assistance. Depending on the nature of the injury or illness, and whether or
not the appropriate physician or specialist is available at the military installation, a soldier

The Scrivener, By Herman Melville
Bartleby the Scrivener was written in 1853 by Herman Melville. The plot revolves around a man s
issues with a strange employee who has a severe case of passive resistance all other scriveners for a
few passages in the life of Bartleby, who was a scrivener the strangest I ever saw or heard of (p1483).
Civil Disobedience was written by Henry David Thoreau in 1849. Thoreau presented himself in
Walden as an exemplary figure who by virtue of his philosophical questionings, economic good sense,
nonconformity, and appreciative observation of the natural world could serve as a model for others (p
961).
Both Thoreau and Melville were seen as excellent writers of their time. While looking at each
character, as depicted in their writings, the key moments of why they were imprisoned, and what their
experience was while in prison, will be explained. Thoreau is the book s storyteller and its primary
character. In 1845, at the age of twenty eight, he assembled a cabin at Walden Pond in the forested
areas of Concord, Massachusetts, and resided there for a few years while trying to live deliberately
and find the essentials of life far from the preoccupation of town life.
He discovers camaraderie and motivation in nature, investigating the relationship between people,
nature, and heavenliness. Despite the fact that its winter, he tests his spirits, the changing of spring and
revives his conviction that he is a piece of the continuous life of nature. Following two years, he

  • 2. The War On Drugs Should End The United States absurdly spends billions to concentrate its efforts on the interdiction of substance use. Law enforcement and labors of exclusion have not been met with reductions in the accessibility of drugs in America. Aside from being remarkably expensive, drug task agencies have demonstrated racial discrimination and unequal anguish distressed by minority communities. Ultimately, it costs the government extreme amounts of taxpayer dollars to maintain this futile war while disregarding the rights of American citizens. Minority Target Since the birth of the United States, people of color have been the object of many societal injustices. For example, the War on Drugs has produced a staggering number of African American and Latino arrests and incarceration rates throughout the U.S. Although the levels of drug consumption and peddling are similar amongst Caucasians, minorities are largely more susceptible to be detained, prosecuted, and imprisoned for drug law violation. And between federal and state governments, this discriminatory war costs billions of dollars annually to enforce. The war on drugs should end because it is awfully biased towards minorities, the epitome of ineffective policy, and unconstitutional. First, programs such as D.A.R.E. and the Just Say No campaign were launched to bring drug awareness to children due to the War on Drugs. However, this operation should end because it has become a war on the people, especially minorities. Major arrest ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Pros And Cons Of Charlie Gordon Learning about the world is challenging enough, but to unlearn it knowing what is being lost is even more burdensome. Charlie Gordon is a man that learned the world and lost it all. Is knowledge admirable while it can be retained or is ignorance bliss when it can t? Knowledge is excellent, even if it is only for a little while, even if it is retained for a short period because people know what the world is, even when that knowledge is lost, people will retain a certain understanding of the world before they unlearned it. Some say Knowledge is a wonderful tool in life, but if a man acquires knowledge, but soon unlearns the knowledge yet understands how the world should be, and then loses it, ignorance is bliss so the man does not know how people treat them in atrocious ways, and it shall stay that way for his/her benefit. . All people deserve to acquire Knowledge, so they have the experience of how life should be. Charlie Gordon acquires knowledge of how the world is and how people treat people who have mental setbacks. To come from a position where he is made fun of, to know this, and then back to being treated as a person that has a mental disability, knowing how he is treated has multiple pros including some cons. To know information, even if that knowledge hurts you, is useful. Although it may hurt, it is wonderful because you gain the information. Charlie Gordon learns that his friends are not actually great friends. After becoming smart Charlie realizes his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Importance Of Real Property Statutory deferral when real property is transferred to a corporation with FMV higher than the tax basis. The law provides three exceptions where the transfer of Real property to a corporation with market value higher than the basis is not taxable; 1. The transferor owns more than 80% of voting stock of the corporation immediately after the transfer 2. The transferor and a group, simultaneously transfer real property to a corporation and own more than 80% of the corporate voting stock immediately after the transfer. 3. The transferor already owns 80% voting stock of the corporation and any additional transfers do not trigger gain. The above transfers only deferred the gain but did not exempt it, pursuant to § 351. Corporation takes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... IRC § 721, which dictates transfer of property to partnership, is comparable to §351 except it does not have an 80% or more ownership constraint, you could own 1% of partnership interest the transfer would still be tax free. In addition, basis rules are like corporate rules upon transfer. The similarity ends from this point forward, in cases where property is subject to liability, the partner would adjust its basis in the partnership. Gain, if triggered due to partner s liability decrease, termed deemed distribution, recognition of this gain could be circumvented by adjusting the transferor s outside basis, hence no recognition of gain either by the partnership or the partner. In case of liquidating or non liquidating distribution interplay of sections in partnership law avoids the recognition of gain, and in both cases basis is adjusted instead. Gain is only triggered when the transferor sells property received in both liquidating and non liquidating scenarios. • 5. The Importance Of Cultural Diversity In The United States The United States is a melting pot now more than ever. The biggest reason for this change is largely due from immigration and birthrates. Over the past thirty years immigrants who have come to American have been primarily non Europeans including Asians, and people from South and Central America. In the year 2000, the United States census recorded 2.4 percent of the population in the United States to have multiracial backgrounds. Although this may not sound like a big number, Americans have had to adapt to being more culturally competent. Cultural competence is, The process by which individuals and systems respond respectfully and effectively to people of all cultures, languages, classes, races, ethnic backgrounds, religions, and other diversity factors in a manner that recognizes, affirms, and values the worth of individuals, families, and communities and protects and preserves the dignity of each. The Census Bureau believes that by 2050, nearly fifty percent of America s population will be minorities. When the civil rights movement began in the 1950 s, African Americans and other minority groups tried to alert the United States their distinct identities. They felt that their long history of oppression especially in the United States had to come to an end. Immigrants who come to this country bring certain qualities that Americans do not obtain. Whether it is their language, religion, culture or even different political backgrounds. As our nation grows more diverse it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Glass Menagerie Symbolism Constantly on the run, always hiding in fear. There was no escaping him and his dreaded army. December 8, 1937, is when they finally uncovered Charlotte s family. The last thing Charlotte recalls from that night is her mother being dragged away to her most certain death by the horrid and repulsive crimson swastika. Symbols have been around since the beginning of the existence of mankind from the ancient egyptians to Christ. Symbols is humanity s way of expressing feelings, stories, and events through objects or pictures. Symbols can also have different meaning for different groups of people. For the Jews, the swastika represents hate and death, but for Hitler and the Nazi army is represented power and victory. In both plays, The Glass Menagerie ... The broken unicorn helps to develop her realization of her faux reality and to finally take a step into the real world. Ibsen uses macaroons as a symbol of disobedience and deceitfulness. When Nora arrives home to Helmer he suspects she has gone out and got some sweets which Nora denies when in actuality she had eaten some macaroons that were hidden in her pocket (Ibsen, 7). Nora denying to her husband shows how easily she can spout a lie. Nora s disobedience gives a hidden inside to the rebellious side of Nora. • 7. The Flaws Of Foots Moral System Essay Shortcomings of Foots Moral System In Morality as a System of Hypothetical Imperatives, Philippa Foot argues that moral judgments are in hypothetical imperatives rather than categorical imperatives. For Kant, categorical imperatives are actions that are good in themselves and do not depend on desires, while, hypothetical imperatives are actions that are good to some purpose (306). According to Foot, hypothetical imperatives alone serve as the basis of moral judgments because categorical imperatives give us no reason to obey them. In this paper, I will explain foots argument that moral judgments are hypothetical imperatives. I will then argue that that Foot s theory of moral judgments fails in two ways. First, placing moral judgments in hypothetical imperatives fails to designate moral from immoral contingent ends, and second, the hypothetical imperative weakens morality by making it too optional. To show this, I will first argue that placing moral judgments in hypothetical imperatives begs the question of what is the moral basis of its own contingent end. I will then propose a decision procedure for determining the moral value of the contingent ends of hypothetical imperatives. Then I will argue that the Leningrad does not solve and that basing moral judgments in hypothetical imperatives still makes morality too optional. In her paper, Foot argues that moral judgments must exist in either categorical or hypothetical imperatives. If moral judgments are not in categorical ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The Importance Of Selfwareness Q 11: Why is it important to be self aware and use self reflection in relation to your work with clients and colleagues? Self awareness helps managers to know management skills, which promotes skill development. But self awareness also helps them find situations in which they will be most effective, assists with intuitive decision making, and guide them in stress management and motivation of oneself and others. (Raj Soin Collage of Business Wright State University, 2017). Skill development this improves projects that should normally begin with an assessment of the gap between the current situation and the desired future situation. This will surely have effect on other workers being it good or bad. (Raj Soin Collage of Business Wright State University, 2017). Knowing your strengths and weaknesses, being aware of yourself helps exploit your strengths and cope with your weaknesses. Like looking at the broader picture, but can t pay attention on much on details. Is good you talk to colleagues and subordinates that are more detail oriented when making major decisions. (Raj Soin Collage of Business Wright State University, 2017). Developing intuitive decision making skills in this situation manager access large amount of unorganised and ambiguous data. • 10. Heteronormativity In Let It Go The Disney cinematic universe is riddled with an obscene heteronormativity that appears to be subverted in Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck s, Frozen. The entirety of this film removes itself from the particular expected narrative of its counterparts. This is particularly clear in the title song of the film, Let it Go. Sung by queer icon Idina Menzel, this song seems to divulge from the implications of heteronormativity and showcase clear insinuations of a coming out narrative . She sings, don t let them in, don t let them see, be the good girl you always have to be it is expected that she will conform to the norms of society and act as the proper woman and monarch. In Subjects of Sex, Gender, Desire, Judith Butler speaks of norms of intelligibility, namely what is accepted as normal by a society. Elsa has hidden away and refused to let people see within her, she hides so as not to be presented as freakish or monstrous. She is unable to fully present herself in a way that would be viewed as normal or expected so she instead removes herself from the view of her society. Butler also mentions the concept of the heterosexual matrix and the expectations of a heteronormative society. Elsa lives in a society that instructs her to hide the aspects of herself that do not conform to the expected norms, she alters the perception of herself so as to fit into the mold of the heterosexual matrix. She escapes it only by accepting aspects of herself that are non normalized and inherently odd. • 11. How Did The Court System Work During The Middle Ages How did the court system work during the Middle Ages ? The court system in the middle ages worked by using the term guilty until proven innocent and using trials of ordeal to determine innocence. The courts weren t based on the idea of an accused being innocent until proven guilty as there was no concept to believe the accused was innocent. It was the job of the accused to prove their innocence. The accused could do this by taking an oath to prove their innocence. In case of love marriage, people might expect more from their partner, largely because they have fallen in love before marriage. This leads to lesser compromises, as the person expects more from his or her partner. On the other hand, this shows that in an arranged marriage, the couple will not expect anything from the partner instead give a full commitment to adjust themselves with their partner. Furthermore, world divorce statistic illustrates that India records the lowest rate of divorce which is 1.1% compared to the other countries such as United States which records 54% of divorce rate leading the most high divorce rate (American for Divorce Reform, 2002. Mending Wall Annotation The desire to discover something can be the effect of the human condition or metaphysical with the idea of emotions causing transformation of perspectives of oneself and the world. In Frost s poem Mending Wall , a contemplation regarding the repairing of a wall between a persona and their neighbour reveals that they hold conflicting views about the necessity of a wall. It is shown that the persona disapproves the mending of the wall through the personification of apple trees. The persona uses it as a logical example of the futile nature of having fences for fruit trees; thus, the composer challenges not just the neighbour but also the audience to speculate the reasons for having a fence. A bitter clash of opinions is unveiled when the persona ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The protagonist is a man who experiences a series of events in attempt to pursue a girl he has never had any verbal interaction with. An element of romance is prevailed through the establishing shot where winds blow a piece of paper with the girl s lipstick stain and coincidentally lands on the man. This is a metaphor for fate, although it is juxtaposed by a reverse shot, where it shows the man that he is unaware that the women has left and this experience is shared with the audience. Thus, it creates an impact on the audience as well leaving them wondering whether the man and the women will ever see each other again. A high angle shot is established in the following scene where he is relishing the piece of paper that was originally owned by the girl. It depicts that the man desires to see her again. The man experiences an unforeseen turn of event when he realises the girl is in the building across from his work office. He attempts to create dozens of paper planes and toss them, at the window where she is standing, in order to get her attention. The anthropomorphism of the planes is a manifestation of the self discovery of his desire to be with her and is complemented with jubilant music, which gradually increases in volume and drowns out the ... • 14. The Happiness Trap Analysis Recently, I read the book The Happiness Trap by Russ Harris and Bev Aisbett and at first I really hated the book. It was patronizing, belittling and used an excess amount of exclamation marks. It also said things such as let your mind chatter away like a radio in the background which I do not agree with at all. I think that you should always pay attention to your emotions and thoughts, and that dealing with them is much different than ignoring them. I overlooked this line, however and continued reading, and athough I didn t like it at first, I tried to keep an open mind about the book, as the reviews were good and some of the lessons made sense. • 17. A Connection Between Existence And Absence Life could sometimes be harsh and not grant us the ability to care for ourselves and therefore rely on others to survive. Being unable to care for oneself leads to a diminished sense of self esteem. Not until the time we lack the ability to perform the things we want, do we feel the absence and thus wish for their existence. This is so because we have a humane nature of taking everything for granted. In his play Endgame, Beckett uses many absurd elements to make a connection between existence and absence. Throughout his characters Clov and Hamm, Beckett uses each of them to demonstrate their incompleteness and thus the need to seek the help of one other in order to survive and achieve their complete existence. Being a caregiver or a nurse requires a lot of patience. Clov is the sole person whom helps Hamm with his activities of daily living. That job for Clov is identical to being someone s caregiver or nurse. It is similar to a nursing assistant taking care of an elderly or a disabled person in a senior living facility, nursing home or a hospital. There could be times when the job may seem punitive because of the redundancy of certain tasks. For instance, there could be someone who is bedridden and requires a lot of cares versus another patient who is independent but only needs minimal assistance. In Endgame, Hamm relies on Clov for helping him but yet Clov is complaining about the redundancy and repetitiveness of one of the tasks: getting him up and putting him to bed. ... Although humans have a large capacity for knowledge, even the smartest individual is prone to error and may be ultimately sightless to the obvious solution due to what they chose not to see. This theme of constant and initial blindness becomes recurring in Sophocles Oedipus the King. This recurring theme seems to play an important role in the development of the events and characters in Oedipus the King. The tragic hero Oedipus, for example, is the quintessential example of a character who experiences continual blindness. The blue ringed octopus can control its dermal cells, allowing it to camouflage itself in the rocks and reefs throughout their respective oceans. Also, the size of the octopus helps its case against box jellies, being that the blue ringed octopus is no bigger than a golf ball (Barnett). But this could hurt the octopus if it is looked at from another viewpoint; the size of the box jellyfish and its tentacles are the reason that it is above the blue ringed octopus in lethality. The length of the box jellyfish allows it to inflict more damage, and release more venom than a blue ringed octopus. By looking at box jellies from this perspective, they are clearly more deadly than their fellow dangerous sea creatures. Probably one of the biggest aspects of the Army s Total Compensation plan is the free medical coverage provided to all soldiers. I cannot think of another organization that offers a totally cost free medical package for its employees. Also, as I mentioned earlier, the leadership in the Army is very supportive of soldiers attending medical appointments in order to maintain a high level of medical readiness, which is a critical aspect of the Army being able to conduct its mission. Soldiers do not see a physician when they are injured or ill initially. The first line of medical screening includes unit medical personnel, which includes medics and the unit physician s assistant. If it is determined that the soldier will require treatment or diagnosis from a physician they are then referred to a doctor. This is a key way that the Army saves money on its no cost medical coverage. By not having a soldier be seen by a physician immediately and having a lower ranking medic, who gets paid much less, conduct the initial assessment and possibly remedy the situation, the Army save substantial money. Of course, if a soldier is critically injured or ill they can always go to the military installation emergency room for treatment or call 911 for assistance. Depending on the nature of the injury or illness, and whether or not the appropriate physician or specialist is available at the military installation, a soldier ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

His first class starts at 9:15 am every day; he arrives to class early to get everything set up before the students come in. Students arrive to class on time; Mr. Mike already has the question for the new topic on the smart board. He starts his lesson by recalling what they learned in the previous class. Then he introduces the new topic along with an interesting story; which seems to grab student s attention. Mr. Mike shows a tremendous understanding and knowledge about the topic. The plot revolves around a man s issues with a strange employee who has a severe case of passive resistance all other scriveners for a few passages in the life of Bartleby, who was a scrivener the strangest I ever saw or heard of (p1483). Civil Disobedience was written by Henry David Thoreau in 1849. Thoreau presented himself in Walden as an exemplary figure who by virtue of his philosophical questionings, economic good sense, nonconformity, and appreciative observation of the natural world could serve as a model for others (p 961). Both Thoreau and Melville were seen as excellent writers of their time. While looking at each character, as depicted in their writings, the key moments of why they were imprisoned, and what their experience was while in prison, will be explained. Thoreau is the book s storyteller and its primary character. In 1845, at the age of twenty eight, he assembled a cabin at Walden Pond in the forested areas of Concord, Massachusetts, and resided there for a few years while trying to live deliberately and find the essentials of life far from the preoccupation of town life. He discovers camaraderie and motivation in nature, investigating the relationship between people, nature, and heavenliness. Despite the fact that its winter, he tests his spirits, the changing of spring and revives his conviction that he is a piece of the continuous life of nature. Following two years, he leaves ... Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) On September 15, 2004, the existing collective bargaining agreement (CBA) between the National Hockey League (NHL) and the National Hockey League Players Association (NHLPA) expired.
