Challenges Facing International Students
Most international students happen to have some major and minor struggles when they come to the
USA. People from different countries usually have different background, different thoughts, different
culture. Therefore, international students who come to the USA, tend to struggle with some problems.
The three most important challenges international students face can be categorized into three groups:
emotional challenges such as culture shock and homesick, social challenges, and academic challenges.
The emotional struggles that international students have are homesickness and culture shock.
According to Ivan Sekyonda from Uganda, he appreciates the school faculties for helping him with
going through homesickness and culture shock (Sewall, p. 127). Students from different countries
happen to have trouble adapting to American culture that is more liberal. This inability of getting
along with American culture due to culture difference causes homesickness which makes students
want to go back home. Many international students seem to not enjoy their first year in America for
such problems. The social challenges that international students face include international students
only relating to other international students. According to Macalester College, a group of Chinese
students were already bonded altogether within themselves even before they came to the campus
(Fischer, p. 100). Usually, American students find other students, who are planning go to the same
school, on social

Audrey Hepburn s Lasting Impact On World War II
Audrey Hepburn, born in 1929, made a lasting impact on World War II. During the war Hepburn s
mother moved her family to the Netherlands where she believed that their family would be kept safe
since it was a neutral country. Despite what Hepburn s mother thought, the Nazis invaded. The Nazis
cut off food supplies starving their family and millions of others; due to this malnourishment, causing
her to have a slender figure that later was envied by many. Due to children s innocence they would be
given the task of carrying money and papers to different groups of the resistance. Hepburn was a
strong advocate for the resistance, since her uncle was killed by the Nazis, one of her brothers was in a
labor camp, and the other brother was in hiding.

Malrotation Of The Gut Case Study
Volvulus (Malrotation of the Gut)
A malrotation of the gut occurs when something goes wrong during development the small intestine
(gut or small bowel). When this occurs, the small intestine is not fixed in the abdomen (belly). The
intestines are held by just their blood supply. When the intestines become twisted, because they are not
fastened down, it cuts off their blood supply. It is much like a hose getting kinked. This loss of blood
supply leads to damage to the gut. This condition is also called volvulus.
SYMPTOMS
Most often this abnormality shows up during the first month of life. Sometimes it may not produce
symptoms until adulthood. Usually the abdomen becomes distended and there is vomiting of bilious
material. This is greenish or bile stained vomitus. There is usually cramping and intermittent
abdominal pain.
DIAGNOSIS ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is an X ray study using contrast material. Contrast material is something given to the baby by
mouth that shows the inside of the stomach and small bowel better. This X ray shows an abnormal
position of the first part of the small bowel located where the small bowel first leaves the stomach.
TREATMENT
A volvulus is a surgical emergency. This must be corrected immediately to preserve life.
The surgeon will untwist the intestine if necessary.
The surgeon will cut through the abnormal bands holding the organs in the wrong places.
The appendix will be removed. If the child were to have an appendicitis the diagnosis would be
dangerously delayed because of the abnormal position.
After the operation, it is extremely unlikely the bowel will rotate again. The body has internal scarring
called adhesions that hold things in

Unit 6 Case Analysis Paul Arden Case
Paul Arden, a creative director and author, once stated If you always make the right decision, the safe
decision, the one most people make, you will be the same as everyone else. In the early summer of
2015, I was facing a decision about which deployment architecture to choose for a new product that
would launch later in the year. The safe choice was to continue using a legacy installer that was widely
used by the rest of the existing product line. However, doing so would perpetuate a cost and toll on the
service organization given that this installer was very fragile and time consuming to use. Newer
technology was available but many sources felt it was not yet mature enough for production
deployment. Additionally, several people associated with the program felt our customers may reject it
as an option. The right solution was not obvious and parties for both alternatives were very passionate
about their preferred path forward. The real question at hand was to either take the safe route or to take
on the risk of being different and potentially end ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We simply did not have the time left in this project for such activities and I was in a place where I had
to decide quickly for us to meet our deadline. I began by compiling a list of pros and cons with both
alternatives and even considered implementing both options as a fall back scenario if the new
technology was not successful. I knew that my team was not trained in the new technology stack and
we would have a few bumps in the road during implementation but I had faith in them to overcome
these setbacks. I could see the upside to the service engineering team since they would directly benefit
the most from the more modern approach. After analyzing the technical aspects of the situation, I
asked myself, If I were the customer, which option would I want to

Struggle Between Hindu and Secular Nationalisms in India...
Struggle Between Hindu and Secular Nationalisms in India
India holds a prominent place in the history of imperialism and decolonization, making recent events
in this country of nearly one billion especially important to the current day citizen. India also faces
problems associated with accommodating religion and diversity within a large federal republic,
making their experience important for Americans concerned with these issues. India faces growing
action of governing which invites the use of violence to achieve political objectives. In spite of India s
size and importance, it is hard for an American to gain an understanding of the issues and conflicts
which have set the stage for the most recent revival of Hindu nationalism. The ... Show more content

Nijhawan remarks, the contending sides swear by secularism. However, secularism as it has come to
be practiced by the Congress Party and the Indian government (hereafter referred to simply as
secularism) comes under scrutiny for four general reasons: the unequal treatment of different religious
groups, the implied hostility to religion, the poor translation of secularism from the West to India and
the inability of secularism to create a national identity for India. That both sides attempt to appropriate
the term secularism can lead to confusion; even the U.S. government had some problems in its effort
to catagorize the debate about secularism. In the opinion of the Hindu nationalist, the Congress
commitment to secularism does not bring about the tolerance, the Sarva Dharma Sambhava to be
expected of Hindu rulers. P.N. Joshi, President of the Rashtriya Hindu Manch, a militant Hindu
organization, explains in his 150 page pamphlet, Secularism in Action: A Fraud, A Conspiracy to
Destroy Hinduism that in reality, the picture of secularism in action in this country is neither beautiful
not presentable ... in fact, it is ugly and abominable and the produce even though so well packed in
gorgeous colours is foul and stinking .ii The concept of secularism in this country, in fact, means to
ignore the Hindus, to sell the rights and interests of the Hindus with a view to appeasing the Muslims,
Sikhs and Christians for buying their votes. The BJP also attacks

Short Story Of A Baseball Player
As we walked to the field he asked about my experience playing the game. So as we walked I told him
everything I had done in the sport and all of my accomplishments. He was impressed being at such a
young age not receiving or getting the opportunities to achieve what I had achieved. Neither of his
parents had played baseball. His father had played cricket and tennis and his mom ran track. Finally
we arrived at the baseball field, Kyle eager to learn about the sport. The grass looked beautifully rich
and the sun gleamed on the field.
First I taught him how to catch and throw the ball, which he picked up surprisingly very quick. He had
a great arm for a 7 year old! From there I taught him how to hit. We worked off the tee at first and then

Vanishing Point Paper
Vanishing point was the main focus for this paper, the VP is where the orthogonal lines all meet.
Knowing how to find the VP made me want to choose what I believed to be challenging pictures out
of what was given to us. This being said, I chose Gas, Edward Hopper 1940, Corridor in the Asylum,
Vincent Van Gogh 1889, and L`Europe Geneva Bridge, Gustave Caillebotte 1876. In these three
paintings I not only saw a challenge, but also a neat story that can be conveyed in finding the VP. Gas,
Edward Hopper 1940, is a picture of a man working the gas pump during the day while no one else is
around. The first orthogonal line I chose for this picture was against the grass line following along the
gas pumps. I took the line and pulled it along the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A man and woman are walking over the bridge while a dog is walking toward them, and another man
is gazing out in the water. In this painting I have three orthogonal lines starting with the first one on
the top corner of the building on the left side. This line then follows across the roofline, down through
the man walking s neck, through the woman s skirt. This line then finishes on the cement and ending
on the shadow of the dog. Orthogonal line two starts at the end of the bridge railing on the bottom
right side. The line then continues down the railing, crossing through the old man in green and through
the woman and man walking near each other. This line will end on the building in the left corner and
right above the buggy by finishing on the building. The third and final line starts along the sidewalk
on the bottom left side, leading up the sidewalk and going through the man s coat, head and hat, while
ending on building in the middle of the painting. The vanishing point leads us to the man that s
walking s head while he is looking away at the water. This vanishing point pulls the focus of the
painting on the man and also the women next to him on the bridge. These three pictures all have very
different stories in them, which creates for different vanishing points. In some paintings or drawings it
can be hard to find a vanishing point due to the different time eras of the artists. Overall, the vanishing
points allowed me to zone in on the meanings behind each painting and allowed me to come up with a
story as to what s going on in the

offering its customers first class hotel accommodations, gaming, entertainment and promotions. With
so many hotels and casinos in the Las Vegas valley, one must determine its goals and vision to

providing unique incentives for its employees.

Formulate Strategy to Achieve Goal
Standout Strategy:
With a variety of casinos on the strip, it is hard to stand out and become the leading casino on the Las
Vegas strip; however, with the right stand out strategy it is not impossible. Harrah s will have to
implement a plan to stick out from the rest of the casinos. For example the Mirage has a volcano, Paris
has an Eiffel Tower and Treasure Island has a pirate show just to name a few. Do you see a theme?
Without a prominent attraction, Harrah s will concentrate on our other features like the reputation of
its sister properties, the fun atmosphere, friendly staff and high quality technology to attract its
customers.
Second Stop Strategy.
With the help of our sister properties all over the world, Harrah s can encourage customers to visit any
other our other Harrah s properties and insure them that they will receive the same wonderful
experiences as they do from the Las Vegas property and visa versa. The Harrah s club card will be
valid at all Harrah s locations and club card holders are able to increase their points no matter which
Harrah s they visit but they earn extra points for playing at the Harrah s on the Las Vegas strip. It is
kind of like frequent flyer miles, where the customer can use any airline but will receive better prices
or incentives for traveling on a certain airline.

Powder Movie Analysis
There s a small film, Powder, that in my opinion, didn t receive the acclaim it rightly deserves.
Directed by Victor Salva, it is carried by an ensemble cast of A List character actors, Mary
Steenburgen, Lance Henrickson, Jeff Goldbulm, with Sean Patrick Flannery playing the title role.
There are few movies with the ability to crawl inside you, and grip your heart like this one. This
movie speaks to me on many personal levels, I hardly know where to begin and almost didn t. It s
easy, with my abandonment and bullying issues, to assume its attraction for me. I admit these are a
factor, but it s not the whole. This film unabashedly delves into the mystical, and Pantheistic belief

He forms a telepathic link between doe and man, allowing the animal s emotions and dying thoughts

what happened in the woods, and how humans, in their cruelty, hurt innocent beings and shouting, I
don t like what you(humans) do! is heart wrenching. Throughout the movie Powder is acutely aware
he is a curiousity, feared, when he only wants to show love, and be loved. Continuously experiencing
man s aggression, leads him to believe he was better off hidden away. Leaving the school, making his
way across the field, he hears noises from the gym and investigates, finding a basketball game in
progress. Turning to leave, he spies another classmate in the shower, and his admiration and envy for
the boy s hair, is misinterpreted as homosexual longing. The drama ensuing next is stomach turning,
yet ends in showing the capacity of spirit to be compassionate, in the face of contempt. The ending to
this film is both predictable... and glorious. Powder s running into a thunderstorm, gathering energy
until he can hold no more, transforming into pure spirit, spreading outward with love, is uplifting and
brings me to tears. Every.

Mildred Taylor s Roll Of Thunder, Hear My Cry
Being courageous means to stand up for someone or something and to be brave to stand up for the
right thing. In Mildred Taylor s book Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry, she discusses the harsh reality of
discrimination and courage to stand against it in the 1930s South. Cassie is the most courageous
person in the book and I think this because she stood up for Little Man, she confronted Lillian Jean,
and she said something to Mr.Barnett. She does this because she doesn t think that it s fair to be
treated differently just because she is a different color than others. Little Man gets a dirty old book and
all the whites get nice and new books. Little Man likes things to be nice and in order. He looks in the

Helicopter Parenting Essay
There are many different ways to parent your kids, and every kid is different. There are also very
many different opinions on how you raised and brought up your kid and how it will affect the child in
the long run. Some people let their kids do what they want when they want while others never let them
do anything unless they are right there to step in. Everyone is different and some need it more than
others but for the average kid less is sometimes better. Helicopter parenting can be helpful in some
cases if that is what your child needs. These days there are so many things that kids have to worry
about such as school and jobs and everything else we have to do in our busy lives. The hardest thing
as a parent is to just stand there and watch your kid struggle and or fail. But also the last thing we need
is the added pressure from our parents. Kids may see your help as they were not good enough to do it
on their own or that you do not have to confidence in them to let them do it. In recent studies it has
shown that the added stress from helicopter parents make our lives worse than what it would be if they
just left us alone and let us take care of what we needed to on our own. Especially when it comes to
our academic habits. When we are in elementary school all the way up through high school parents
like to be there and have a saw in all of our schooling. But when we go off and go to college we no
longer know how to take care of own self because our parents have always been

Chinese Immigrants 1800s
In the early 1880 s immigrants started to come over to the United States. Immigrants came into the
United States for job opportunities, and a better life for there families. Immigrants come from all over
the world, such as chinese, Italian, and Russian immigrants. The experiences of Chinese immigrants
differed from immigrants from Italy, and Russia. Their experiences differed, because of how they
came over to America, where they lived, and jobs. Immigrants came from all over the world to
America such as Chinese, Italian, and Russian immigrants. These immigrants came over from other
countries and they traveled on a ship. When the immigrants were on the ship they lived in the steerage,
which was below the deck of the ship. When the European immigrants arrived in America, half had to
be quarantined so they do not get others infected. While the other half were just trying to find jobs,
and homes. Immigrants that were from China lived in towns called ghettos. Sometimes they even
lived in neighborhoods with white americans and immigrants from Europe. Also near big cities there

chinese immigrants accepted low wages, and also affected the pay rates of others. However

Myers-Brigg Personality Analysis
According to Myers Brigg personality test I am an INFJ (Introverted Intuitive Feeling Judging
Personality): As I read the description on learning style, it surprised me how accurate the results were
by just answering a few basics questions. For instance, a distinguish quality of an INF is creativity that
it usually results in an inclination towards the arts. Moreover, an INFJ type personality tends to seek
majors in the fields of education, counseling and science. In that sense, I am not only an artistic
person, but also a student who loves science and seek to help others. As a matter of fact, I chose a
career in the humanities during my undergraduate tenure as well as studies in biology (Human
anatomy) for the reason that I believe that biology and the humanities go hand in hand. In my opinion,
if someone decide to become a doctor or chose a career in the medical field, for example, it is not just
enough to have knowledge about how the human body works, but also it is of great importance to
posses an understanding of the social, and cultural aspects of an individual that is language, race,
religion, etc. The same is true for the humanities, and proved of that is that some well known writers

Revolution And Social Movements
Revolutions and social movements can be a huge deal and cause major effects in history. Some
examples of them are the Ku Klux Klan and the French Revolution. These are just some of the
hundreds out there that have happened in the past or are happening now. One thing that I want to point
out is that they are not the same. Revolutions and social movements are very different in several ways
and similar in some.
Revolutions, they are a necessary change in the political power when people rise up against it.
Revolutions tend to be exceedingly more violent than social movements. For example, the American
Revolution was when the 13 colonies rejected the British monarchy and overthrew the authority and
founded the United States of America. There were various wars fought in this revolution. Most were
very bloody and violent. Over 10,000 soldiers were injured or killed in this war. It may not seem like
tons, but when the 13 colonies were first beginning there weren t very many people living there
anyways.
Social movements, they are large group actions that are usually focused on changing a political or
social problem. Social movements aren t as violent as revolutions, although they can tend to get fairly
violent. One example of a social movement would be the Ku Klux Klan. The Ku Klux Klan is one ...

Ernest Hemingway Feminism
Ernest Hemingway is a male author of fictional stories whose work has been controversial regarding
the way he portrays women. This paper will explain how feminist scholars view Ernest Hemingway s
fictional stories and why. The way female scholars view Hemingway s stories are important because
readers have criticized Hemingway for use stereotyping women in his work and others have enjoyed
his work. Therefore, it is important to learn about the different view female scholars have on his
fiction. Lawrence Broer and Gloria Holland of The University of Alabama argue that Hemingway has
an inability to portray women as independent, strong and sympathetic, therefore why should women
continue to read, teach and write about his work (Broer, Holland 7). In contrast Margaret Bauer
proposes that the problem critics have with Hemingway s female characters is not that they are one
dimensional, but that they are not the central characters (Bauer 126). Throughout this paper short
stories by Hemingway like Indian Camp, Hills Like White Elephants, The Sun Also Rises, A Farewell
to Arms, For Whom the Bell Tolls, Cat in Rain and The Last Good Country. Throughout the research
studies have shown that female scholars criticize Ernest Hemingway s stories passed on prior
knowledge to what they have heard about him. However, other scholars read Hemingway s work with
an open mind and make their interpretations afterward. The research has shown both negative and
positive responses to Hemingway s

diazepam has a much stronger sedative effect compared to barbiturates.
Death rarely results from diazepam overdose. Diazepam pharmacologic classificaition is

It can be used in the treatment of status epilepticus and for uncontrolled seizures as well as a skeletal
muscle relaxant. It can also be used to treat acute myocardial infarction with associated anxiety and

Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi And The Congress Of Gandhi
On October 2, 1869, Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was born into a religious Hindu family. His
father, Karamchand Gandhi, already had previous sons and daughters from his four other wives, with
Gandhi marking his last son. As a child, Gandhi showed great interests towards family devotion and
sacrifices. He would often slip away from his overly crowded house and into shops on the street.
Because of Hindu law, Gandhi was wed to Kasturbai Makanji at age 13 14.
Eventually, as Gandhi became older and more mature, he started showing passion towards his studies.
He was offered a one year contract for working in a South African Indian law firm. On his way to
Pretoria, a white man objected to the fact that Gandhi was traveling first class. Gandhi refused to
move, claiming he had a first class ticket. He was quickly thrown off the train and was forced to spend
a night on the station platform. After a successful and fulfilling year as a lawyer, Gandhi s trip to
South Africa was almost at an end. At his farewell party, Gandhi spotted a column in the newspaper
stating that the government in Natal was preparing to seize Indian s right to vote. Disheartened by
India s current condition, Gandhi decided to stay longer and gather signatures for a petition against the
discriminatory actions. Within two weeks, the pacifist collected ten thousand signatures and founded
the Indian Congress of Natal. Believing that written words would make a bigger impact, Gandhi
published two pamphlets that spoke out against the new government movement. Without delay,
Gandhi promptly returned to India to fetch his family. In 1906, Gandhi attempted a mass nonviolent
civil disobedience campaign to counteract the South African Transvaal governments new restrictions
and regulations. He dubbed it Satyagraha, meaning firmness in truth , but his attempts failed and he
was promptly arrested. His actions, however, left a lasting impact, leading to multiple rebellions and

Prepaid Phones Vs Pre Paid Phones Essay
Contract vs. Pre paid Phones I have gone through many years of switching between phone companies.
I have had contract phones such as Sprint, T Mobile, AT T, and Verizon Wireless. Although I had a
contract cell phone plan for many years I am happy that I have finally switched to a prepaid service
plan. I now have a prepaid service plan called Straight talk. Straight talk is a service provided but
TracFone wireless. After switching profusely between big name phone companies and different
prepaid phone services I have come to the conclusion that it is much easier and cheaper to use pre paid
phones. Prepaid cell phones are better because they can save you money, they have no contracts, and
they use the same carrier networks An average bill for everyone that I know that has a contract phone
is over one hundred dollars a month. Paying for the phone and the service small quantities at a time

Canterbury Tales Essay
Corruption in the Church nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp;Chaucer lived in a time dictated by religion
and religious ideas in which he uses The Canterbury Tales to show some of his views. Religion played
a significant role in fourteenth century England and also in Chaucer amp;#8217;s writing. His ideas of
the Church are first seen in amp;#8220;The Prologue, ; and he uses seven religious persons to show
the influence of the religion in his writing. Although many of his characters appear to portray part of
the corruption in the Church, he does give a small example in which one can conclude that he is

illustrate an example of Chaucer amp;#8217;s awareness of a defiled Church. Chaucer provides
humor to his description of the Summoner in that amp;#8220;he amp;#8217;d allow amp;#8211; just

Teaching A Foreigner Language And An Training Of Teaching...
The aim of this essay is to reflect the experience of teaching a foreigner language and an analyzation
of teaching strategies. The first part of the essay is an evaluation of the weaknesses and strengths of a
Task Based Learning (TBL). Second part of the essay is a self reflection on my peer teaching lesson
and how I could apply in practice the Presentation, Production, Practice (PPP) teaching strategy and
how to improve my teaching skills.
Firstly, the positive parts of the TBL lesson, the Teacher (T) was leading the lesson by concentrating
on the local needs of the Learners(L) (Tarone and Yule, 1990). To investigate the L s knowledge, she
used the life experience for learning the language (Tarone and Yule,1991:5). It was a well chosen ...

According to Scrivener all these are pending on the language level of the Ls because the activities
should be more effective to use the language (Scrivener, 2010:58.). Ellis suggesting the lesson could
improve with more concentration of leading process than by using fewer tasks. Furthermore, near to
the end of the class the T could not balance the interaction between herself and the Ls and it led to a
diverted situation which expanded the Teacher Talking Time (Stewick, 1980).
Following strategies, I learned during the observation that the best way is to shorten the controlled
practice to use more talking tasks. During the preparation of the lesson, T need to keep the attention of
the Ls, and give clear instructions, use tools such as pictures and the writing on board because they
would lose motivations to do the task easily. Also, during the activity, the T s role is to monitor how
the L could work together in groups and individually. The most practical way of the seating is the
horseshoe arrangement (Gower, Phillips, and Walters, 2014).
In order to identify our strengths and weaknesses of our teaching skills, each member of the class
participated in a 10 minutes peer teaching lesson. My chosen language was Hungarian and the aim of
the lesson was to learn the different pronunciation some letters which English does not include.
The main difficulties I had to face with were the planning the lesson and my anxiety. For me the

Hunger Is A Moral And Humanitarian Crisis
Despite all the atrocities and problems that bedevil the world, what has always horrified me is the
hunger that exists amidst the world of so much plenty. Indeed, hunger exists even in the First World
countries, including the most advanced nation, the United States of America. It is inconceivable how
even the poorest nations allocate big portions of their budgets to military hardware and not food
production. Hunger is a moral and humanitarian crisis, exacerbated by unjust policies and practices,
market distortions caused by excessive financial speculation by the deviation of food resources to
produce energy (News VA).The overall effect is that the population of people who are hungry is

The problem is more common on the streets where the homeless depend on the increasingly unreliable
Food Stamp for their upkeep. However, the countries that are most affected by chronic are some of the
most impoverished in the world. A good example is Honduras. The Republic of Honduras is the
second poorest country in Central America, with persistent poverty and inequality challenges and a per
capita income of about US$1,880 in 2010 (Rural Poverty Portal). 62.8% of Hondurans live in poverty
(World Bank, 2013).This puts Honduras in the league of the least developed nations on earth. With a
population of only eight million people, it is surprising how the state has failed to channel funds to
agricultural activities in order to feed its small population comfortably. 62.8% of Hondurans live in
poverty, and 6 out of 10 of households are subject to extreme poverty of incomes of less than $1.25
per day (World Bank, 2013). This situation is replicated in almost every country that is at the bottom
of economic food chain. Still, the Honduras hunger story reads like a horror movie as it is affecting
almost every child born and brought up in the country. With one in every four children suffering from
chronic malnutrition, one doesn t have to look far in Honduras to find a child in desperate need of
food (World Food Programme). Obviously, this is a chilling statistics. And with shortage

Maggots Movement
By moving in a direction where there is less light or with more moisture or food will be advantages to
the maggots in terms of survivorship whether that s in an arena or in outdoor habitats. To be in an area
or trap/section in this instance with those more suitable conditions would ideally protect from
predators especially as these blowflies are white and more likely to be detected during the day
therefore they move during the night (Kocarek, 2001). Borrowing down into the ground where
conditions are dark and moist also avoids detection from predators like birds, or larger animals
preying on the corpse. This type of behaviour was observed during all the experiments conducted. It
would be instinctive for maggots to find dark areas if threat was possible. Movements towards

these maggots may have turned into pupa and then into flies. In terms of maggots, they are found in
clumps together which is more beneficial to forensics to find larger numbers of maggots/pupae to

Theme Of Love In The Canterbury Tales
The idea of love in marriage is a reoccurring theme within British literature, and Chaucer s The
Canterbury Tales is no exception. The Canterbury Tales consists of a multitude of short stories which
offers a peek into what the social culture of England in the Middle Ages may have been like. Two
stories, in particular, are The Millers Tale and The Knights Tale, which are two contrasting stories that
juxtaposes each other s stance on love in marriage. From the very moment Palamon and Arcite lay
eyes on Emily in The Knights Tale, they are struck with a love so intense that they feel sick to their
stomachs. Although this may seem like a typical cliche, this behavior is also fairly typical within the
courtly love genre. Palamon and Arcite view Emily as a goddess, even going as far as to potentially
break the knight s oath. Soon after, Duke Theseus enters the scene and questions Palamon and Arcite s
intense love. Theseus believes that love has the powerful ability to bend people s heart at will. This is
evident between Palamon and Arcite as they are willing to break the oath which they are sworn into to
fulfill their desires. Ironically, Theseus himself had committed silly acts for the name of love and
believes that the wretch I am, now weeping, wailing thus, ( The Knights Tale 931). The Knights Tale
has a seemingly conflicting stance on love in that it paints an ennobling portrayal of courtly love in a
degrading way. For example, it is evident that Arcite and Palamon

Economic Globalization And Its Impact On Society
Economic globalization has progressed significantly around the globe. First world republics have
evolved due to economics, while possessing economical supremacy over the poor. Developing
technologies, social interactions and the exchange of ideas knowledge promote the expansion of
economical impacts on societies. With growing competition between nations, the world of economics
is seen at every corner. Sources of economic globalization, such as market economies, control every
aspect of a consumer s life, including their wants and needs. Production occurring in industrialized
factories determine the needs and survival of consumers. The growing impact westernization has on
demand, heavily influences the day to day consumer and their investments. Historically, industrial
revolution was one of the major factors which drove economic globalization. From Britain being the
first nation to industrialize, countries around the globe began to discern the economic benefits and
opportunities it brought. So, began the era of industrialization and a new chapter of economies. In
roughly early 1900s, Canada began to encounter economic evolution. Changes in technology and
agriculture enabled the productizing of large scale farming and mass manufacturing, which resulted in
new means of transportation like the railway and canals. One of the most important invention was the
steam engine which was used to power transportation such as railways, ships, and factory machinery.

How Different Cultures React to Death and Dying
How Different Cultures React to Death and Dying
Abstract
This research explores the literature across cultures on death and dying in order to highlight the impact
of culture on reactions to death and the dying process. A theoretical framework is established, using
Elizabeth Kubler Ross s five stages of dying, followed by a succinct discussion of the reactions and
attitudes toward death and the dying process of four cultures (Buddhist, Hindu, Native American and
American). By illustrating the different reactions and attitudes toward death of these cultures, it is
revealed that through increased cultural understanding health care workers can provide more
personalized care to the dying.

Instead, they believe the body must be cremated quickly after death. As Lama (2004, p. 1) maintains,
The belief that once it sheds its body, the soul prepares to depart immediately on its karmic journey,
and as such, it s very important to cremate the body as soon as practical so as not to provide any
allurement for the soul to linger on this side of the world. In such cultures there is little relating to the
bargaining or depression stages of Kubler Ross theory, but acceptance certainly applies to both Hindus
and Buddhists. In fact, for the gerontologist, increased cultural understanding of the death and dying
process aids overall quality of care. As Barker (1999, p. 161) reports on one study conducted on
Hindus in a British community, ...poor communication due to linguistic and cultural distance between
relatives and hospital staff, as well as lack of sensitivity involving the latter, may be most distressful to
the dying and their relatives.
Native Americans Native Americans also had and still have a unique perspective on death. It is
doubtful Native Americans relate to any of the phases outlined by Kubler Ross, save for acceptance.
For Native Americans perceive death as merely one facet of what they view as the Sacred hoop of life,
(Turner Weeden, 1995, p. 11). This is because of their unique worldview with respect to what happens
to the soul after death. Native Americans view life and death as a circular movement, wherein the

The experiment was conducted in Sheboygan County at three locations of varying distance from Lake
Michigan, where they were surveyed for the occurrence of the invasive tree species black locust. The
first location, Kettle Moraine State Park, is located 20 miles inland west of Lake Michigan. As its
name suggests, this location has a combination of kettles and moraines. Kettles are steep side
impressions in a landscape while moraines are linear deposits that accumulated at the edge of an ice

What made this location different than the other two locations was that it was set on private land rather
than public land. The vegetation was dominated by sugar maple, with more red oaks than in the first
site. The canopy was not as closed as the first location but still consisted of coverage of about 90%.
Pleasant Mile Woods had less foot traffic than that of the Kettle Moraine State Park, being that it is a
private land, and had more wind than the previous location due to the increase in farmland
surrounding the patch of woods. The final location, Kohler Andrae State Natural Area, is right off the
shore of Lake Michigan and the part of the site which was surveyed was the woody area off of Black
River Trail. Once again, this area was heavily shaded and dominated with sugar maple. This site had
the most foot traffic due to the occurrence of more trails and surrounding lakeside suburbs along with
having more wind than the other two locations. At each of the locations, square quadrats of 10 meters
in length were sampled using a stratified random sampling technique. At each location, a total of 25
quadrats were analyzed leading to a total of 75 total

Defining Social Roles for Men and Women in India through...
Social Roles for Men and Women in India through Traditional Hindu Texts Throughout this essay, I
will discuss the social roles of men and women in the home, within rituals and within creation. I will
look at the roles of a husband and wife, as well as Goddesses and Kings. The main traditional texts
that support these roles are the Rg Veda, the Kalpa Sutras, the epics (the Ramayana and Mahabharata),
Tryambaka, and Manu Smrti. They are believed to lay the foundations for order in society, as well as
giving people the knowledge of their duty. I will show how these separate texts have defined roles
within castes and genders and show how their different styles of writings have defined roles in
different ways. A person s role in society ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first three are called the twice born. This is brought about by the initiation ceremony (upanayana)
at which they are ceremonially reborn and assume the sacred thread. The Saudras are not permitted to
perform this ceremony. There is also a class called the `Untouchables , which are outside the caste
system as they are too polluted and contact with whom was considered polluting. These people deal
with things that are seen as polluted, e.g. bodily fluid and certain animals. All these different classes
determine a person s duty in society. A person s duty in known as their `Dharma . This is dependant on
their caste, as well as their age and Gender. For example a woman s duty in the Brahmanical caste
would be different from a mans. This is mainly because a woman is prohibited from reading the Veda.
It is believed that this is one of the six things that cause a woman to fall. This was written in the
Stridharmapaddhati of Tryambakayajvan, (guide to the religious status and duties of women). A
person s age also comes into account. The main sources of Dharma are believed to be in the Veda, the
Kalpa Sutras, as well as the epics, the Ramayana and Mahabharata. All these texts have helped to
shape what peoples duties are in life, as I will show later on in this essay. The main feature that
dharma brings to society is a sense of social structure or

Older students can dissect an owl pellet. We can take the lesson further and explore what animals stay
in the winter and how they survive. Since this is a story of what a boy did with his father, perhaps the
students can discuss or write about an activity they have done with a parent, grandparent, or friend. I
remember writing a short story when I was seven, about snowmobiling with my grandfather. I drew a
picture with the story; I think my mother laminated it.
I chose Owl Moon because it reminded so much of where I live. Although I have never been on an
owling , I have had many opportunities to hear them. The words of the author and the illustrator
transported me to our meadow path. Our feet crunched over the crisp snow , reminds me when my
mother, sisters and I went to the meadow to make plaster of paris molds of deer prints.

Women Should Not Be A Mandatory Procedure For Chinese Women
Throughout history, women have tried many different ways to make themselves as beautiful as
possible to be accepted into their society. In the eleventh century, Foot Binding seemed to be a
mandatory procedure for Chinese Women. It was an excruciating process that women would go
through to please their husbands. Foot binding became popular as a means of a flaunting status
because women from wealthy families who did not need them to work could afford to have their feet
bound The practice became so established that a woman who did not have bound feet would have
difficulty finding a husband, for most families they demanded a woman with tiny feet when selecting
a wife for their son. The woman who refused to bind her feet was known to become an outcast and
even punished to death. There are a thousand buckets of tears for one who binds her feet and 5,000
more for the one who unbinds. ( ) Many young girls did it because it was a mark of beauty and
Chinese women with the smallest feet were given the best chance of living a luxurious life style. This
time in history was known to have lasted for at least one thousand years. Although, Foot Binding was
appreciated by Chinese men, but for women it didn t seem like something to look forward too. This
was an excruciating method of women folding all of her toes, except for the big toe, into the sole of
her foot. It was so that her foot appeared smaller and pointier. This tradition began in the north, later

Job Satisfaction And Employee Turnover
Job satisfaction is a highly complex mixture of individual perceptions and individual rewards. Job
dissatisfaction often leads to employee turnover which is costly financially, frustrating to unit
managers, and also detrimental in regard to patient care and outcomes. Maintaining registered nurse
(RN) job satisfaction is directly related to staffing levels (Kalisch Hee Lee, 2014). Teamwork and
collaboration between all medical staff members can increase job satisfaction and provide better
outcomes in patient care. Absence of teamwork and communication can result from cultural and rank
barriers (McCulloch, Rathbone, Catchpole, 2011). Several studies have been performed to measure
job satisfaction in nursing staff, but the aim of this study examines the links between actual unit level
staffing and job satisfaction of RNs and nursing assistants (NAs) (Kalisch Hee Lee, 2014) in order to
identify factors that lead to employee turnover. The first question the researchers were interested in
states, What is the relationship between staffing and job satisfaction of RNs and NAs controlling for
demographic variables and patient acuity? The second research question states, Are there any
differences as to the significant predictors for job satisfaction between RNs and NAs? The RNs and
NAs were surveyed using a questionnaire to rate job satisfaction while also providing demographic
data. The researchers used 131 patient care units in 11 different hospitals based in Michigan and

Albert Bandura s Theory Of Learning And Development
Social learning theory proposed by Albert Bandura has become the most influential theory of learning
and development. According to Bandura, people learn from each other through observation, imitation
and modeling. Social Learning theory explains human behavior in term of continuous reciprocal
interaction between cognitive, behavioral and environmental interaction. Bandura believed that direct
reinforcement could not account for all types of learning. While the behavioral theories of learning
suggested that all learning was the result of associations formed by conditioning, reinforcement, and
punishment, Bandura s social learning theory proposed that learning can also occur simply by
observing the actions of others. His theory added a social element, arguing that people can learn new
information and behaviors by watching other people. Known as observational learning (or modeling),
this type of learning can be used to explain a wide variety of behaviors.
Bandura explained:
Learning would be exceedingly laborious, not to mention hazardous, if people had to rely solely on

centerpiece of the meal and what people are most looking forward to. Having a fully cooked turkey
means that as a cook you ve bypassed the first potential horror story, but you still have to get the
turkey from the roasting pan onto a serving platter. One mom was in charge of cooking the turkey for
her entire extended family. She and her teenaged daughter were in the kitchen and she was taking the
turkey from the roasting pan to put it on a serving dish, except the turkey slipped and crashed to the
floor. Mother and daughter looked at each other with mouths gaping, but then the mother picked the
turkey up with both hands and put it on the serving platter. She looked at her daughter again and
uttered with quiet steel, Nothing happened.

Microbial Regulation oin the Food Industry
Microbiology Topic Paper:
Microbial Regulation in the Food Industry
Microorganisms have been involved I the development of food items throughout history. Although at
first it may have not been intentional over time humans have study and experimented with culturing
microbes to prolong the shelf life of foods, inadvertently changing the taste and textures of the food
item as well. As safety concerns spread in the 1900s regulations were formed to ensure the safety and
well being of humans. In the United States, the U.S. Food and Drug Admiration is the organization
that determines the overall safeness of a food element.
When Microbes are used in food they tend to fall under two types of categories in the FDA regulatory
classifications. The first category would be the generally recognized as safe category or GRAS
published as a proposed rule in 1997. Microbes considered GRAS fall under multiple definitions. If a
microbe was utilized prior to 1958 as an additive with no apparent side effects and proven to be safe
over time, it will fall under GRAS via being grandfathered in. Another way in which a microbe
additive will be considered GRAS is through common knowledge. Common knowledge is the
assumed awareness that experts have in knowing that a microbe is naturally in the development in the
food process. For example if a microbe is naturally present in yogurt, such as S. thermophiles, then
supplementary amounts of the same microbes being added to the yogurt

Cell Phone While Driving
Cell phone usage while driving is a major source of distraction that could potentially lead to accidents
and consequently cause injury or loss of life. Technology has had a way of dealing with distractions by
coming up with hands free cell phones mounted on the dashboards of most vehicles. But, even so, cell
phones are still a source of distraction when driving regardless of the fact that they are hand held or
not. Therefore, even the choice for authorities to come up with handheld bans still that does not
achieve safety because the brain, the central organ is still distracted. The thesis statement of this
persuasive essay is that cell phone usage while driving has a negative impact on the overall road users
as they compromise safety. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Saving lives is the number one motive of avoiding using mobile phones while driving. Research
indicates that people are more likely to get involved in an accident, which could potentially lead to
death if the act of multitasking, in this case driving and texting is in progress. For instance, in a study
that was carried out in a higher institution of learning in a time frame of about 18 months, university
students that were making use of a complex driving simulator came up with the conclusion that people
who use mobile phones when driving are eight times more likely to encounter a car crash than those
who do not (Park, 2017). Other research studies show that about 36 percent of young people have
been involved in an almost crash scenario because they or someone close to them was using a cell
phone while driving. Mobile phone usage while driving should not be allowed under any
circumstances. Despite the fact that there are many reasons why people should not use their mobile
phones when driving, it is normally very hard to do so. Additionally, there is a misunderstanding
amongst the authorities and in this case the law makers on the definition of distractions caused by
mobile phones. That is why one group thinks that mobile phone users should be banned completely
regardless of the fact that the users are using hand held or hands free phones. Another group thinks
that cell phones are not a distraction and hence the ban should be specific, i.e. so long as

Examples Of Light And Light In A Streetcar Named Desire
Darkness and light have been used as symbols in various literary works throughout history from
meaningful lines in the first book of the bible to powerful statements in modern literature. These two
naturally opposing forces are displayed in literary texts to exemplify the ever continuing battles of
good vs. evil, illusion vs. reality, happiness vs. misery, or love vs. hate. Most of these external
struggles are shown especially in Tennessee Williams A Streetcar Named Desire. There are instances
in life where some matters can be hidden, but others need to be exposed. Throughout the play,
Williams is constantly describing characters, symbols, and themes with the motif light vs. dark. The
idea of light vs. dark is evidently shown through the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
dark is also used throughout the play to help convey the theme illusion vs. reality. One example of this
is the paper lantern. Blanche covers the exposed light bulb in the Kowalski s apartment with a chinese
paper lantern. I bought this adorable little paper lantern, put it over the light bulb! (60). Blanche s
colored paper lantern was a approach to create her own beautiful world to mask the hideous reality
that she does not want to deal with. However, when Mitch finds out the truth about Blanche, she
finally admits that she tried to disguise the harsh reality. I don t want realism. I want magic. Yes, yes
magic! (117). Another example how darkness and light express this theme is Stanley Kowalski s
violent nature. In the beginning of the play, he is displayed as a likeable person, as he is faithful to his
friends and passionate about his wife. However, Stanley s pleasant and good natured character is
found to be harsh and detrimental. Later in the play, he beats his wife and rapes his sister in law.
Williams displays his true image when describing Stanley s monstrous and menacing shadows that
appear on the wall before he rapes Blanche. This theme is also shown by Stanley s wife, Stella

Psychology, Theology And Spirituality
A 4 MAT Review: Psychology, Theology and Spirituality in the Christian Counseling
Introduction
Mark McMinn is a trained psychologist who is known for his book that was written in 1996 called
Psychology, Theology and Spirituality in Christian Counseling. McMinn had advocated for the
Christians who are counselors for many years. McMinn is very experienced in the work and in his
field of study. One of the biggest things that McMinn stresses is the importance of establishing and
maintaining a good trustworthy relationship with the client and showing ways of how to confront the
client as a therapeutic approach.. The major purpose for this is to create and achieve a lasting change
to the client so that the counseling process can be effective (McMinn, 1996).
Summary
In effect, Mark McMinn has utilized theology, spirituality and psychology to help individuals in
enhancing diverse concepts of their lives. Notably, the author articulates clearly that the counselor
should be strong particularly in their personal spirituality. Hence, this is important because it is the
only way to assist their clients appropriately in the counseling process. The author also expounds on
various precautions, which counselors must take, as well as the limitations. Subsequently, it can be
challenging to incorporate the counselor s spirituality especially in their counseling sessions since
many of them are not confident since they lack adequate knowledge about the Bible. Thus, this will
result to

De Blasio Threaten to Sue President Trump Over Executive Order For Sanctuary Cities New York
City Mayor Bill de Blasio issued a warning to President Trump to take him to court if he tries to cut
federal funding away from Sanctuary Cities. President Trump issued an executive order earlier today
and it s purported purpose, according to the President was to enhance public safety, but here in New
York City and in cities across this nation, this executive order could in fact undermine public safety, de
Blasio said Wednesday evening in a press conference surrounded by Democratic New York officials.
This executive order is written in a very vague fashion. We believe that not only will it be susceptible
to many legal challenges, but that it will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is not the American way, Crowley said. This is not what we have been about over the last 75
years and Donald Trump needs to hear it. This scares the daylight out of me because it is going to shut
down our ability of our law enforcement folks to get information from those who want to expose the
criminal elements because those people will fear deportation. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer
in a statement called President Trump plan are based on alternative facts and the solution to the illegal
immigration problem is amnesty. The only real solution to reform our immigration system is to pass
comprehensive immigration reform that provides a path to citizenship for the 11 million
undocumented immigrants. President Trump s plans are based on alternative facts and do nothing to
keep us safe or fix our immigration system in a humane, pragmatic and effective way, Schumer said in
a statement. Before Trump took the oath of office, de Blasio has repeatedly bashed the President elect
regarding his views he ran during the presidential campaign regarding illegal immigration. The Mayor
has even used this hotly topic to raise campaign funds for his upcoming re election bid to stop Donald

Persuasive Essay On Cheerleading A Sport
ESPN cameras all around, multiple amounts of screaming fans, bragging rights, and a big trophy at
stake; no, this is not a described moment from a basketball or football championship. The excitement
in the air soars beyond belief as the next team takes the mat to put all their blood, sweat and tears to
test in just two minutes and thirty seconds. With the different amount of sports established today;
cheerleading is considered to be a new sport everyone is starting to get into. Many would argue the
cheerleading should not and cannot be considered a sport, but according to the United States All Star
Federation, this sport meets all guidelines. With that being said, cheerleading should be very well
considered a sport because of its high level of physical activity, competition, set rules, and team work
requirements.
Cheerleading requires an exceptional amount of high level physical action with an equally high risk of
injury. Today, in order to make a high level team, cheerleaders must participate in an extensive tryout
process that often takes more than just a week or two. Athletes of any ... Show more content on

advances stunting and tumbling that these athletes perform is what draws in a crowd of thousands all

those who have a real passion for the sport. To the athletes that participate in cheerleading, it is
considered a sport no matter what any judge or outsider may speculate. Cheerleading is a huge part of
these athletes lives and is what many consider to be their

Antisocial Personality Disorder
Antisocial Personality Disorder is a psychological disorder in which an individual s way of thinking
and way of relating to others is dysfunctional and destructive. People with antisocial personality
disorder usually have no regard for right and wrong and often disregard the rights and feelings of
others (Mayo Clinic 1). They tend to antagonize and manipulate others for pleasure or personal benefit
and often violate the law and end up in trouble most of the time, but show no remorse or regret for
their actions. Some examples of the type of people with this disorder can include serial killers and
politicians.
Antisocial Personality Disorder symptoms may begin in childhood and become fully evident for most
people during their 20s and 30s. In children, cruelty to animals, bullying behavior, social isolation, and
poor school performance may be early signs of the disorder. Most of the people diagnosed with
antisocial personality disorder show symptoms that violate the rights of others. The Diagnostic and
Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) states all the possible symptoms of the disorder:
These individuals tend to fail to conform to social norms with respect to lawful behaviors by
performing acts that result in arrest. They are also masters of deception because they lie repeatedly by
using aliases or by conning others for personal profit or pleasure. They rarely plan and act on impulse
when they perform their actions. They also become very irritable and aggressive,

Comparison Of The BeatlesThe Beatles And The Rolling Stones
The Beatles and the Rolling Stones first number one hit songs in the United States, I Want To Hold
Your Hand and (I Can t Get No) Satisfaction were major players in the British Invasion, a musical
revolution which saw a massive spike in the popularity of British artists and culture in America. Both
songs hold some similarities, most notably in the composition of the instruments, along with some
conventions seen in the genre. Yet, strong differences can be found in the vocals, lyrics and general
tone of the songs, showing the separation between two rising subcultures in England. Although very
similar in composition, the two bands display the growing rift between the mods and the rockers those
who preferred the clean cut look and music inspired by the blues, and those who preferred the
rebellious nature of a harder rock and roll.
Both songs display a very similar make up as far as the band and instruments of choice. The core
consists of two guitars, one for lead, and the other for helping maintain rhythm, a bass guitar and
drums along with vocals. The difference here is seen in the instruments used to follow the beat. The
Beatles utilized hand clapping in the background, standing out distinctly from the drums during a
verse, and dissipating as the chorus starts. A good example of this can be heard at 0:07, running until
0:21 as the chorus leads in. The Rolling Stones takes a different approach, using a tambourine and
keeping it on a consistent beat throughout the entire

Case Study Abnormal Psychology
Case Study Name: Institution: Date: Case Study Abnormal behavior relates to the influence of
psychological factors, biological factors as well as the social factors referring to inadequate
relationships. In the face of diverse definition, abnormal behavior refers to the deviating from norm,
which norm is the typical behavior or characteristic of the population. As such, Jim behavior is
abnormal because it violates moral and conventional mores of the society (Violates societal
standards), as such causing social discomfort to others. For instance, Jim fails to recognize the social
cues in conversation thereby annoying other interlocutors. Jim is this case is behaving in a manner

The episode of the Jim portrayed in the case falls in the dimension of Axis II. The present edition of
DSM IV published in 1994, offers virtually 400 disorders (Crowe, 2000). The advantage of this is that
it enhances diagnostic impartiality by adding decision trees demarcating significant characteristics of
disorders, which makes clinicians by collections of questions concerning the presence or the absence
of the symptoms. The present DSM IV manual comprises of extensive anthology of information
organized into portions for easier reference (Purse, 2009). The first section encompasses instructions
on the way to use the tools contained in the DSM IV, while following section contains comprehensive
classification systems catalog of the official codes for each single diagnosis. The fourth section
comprises of the manual detailing the diagnostic criteria accompanied by a description for each
disorder. Despite the advantages highlighted above, there are some disadvantages in the manual
compilation. First, the DSM IV compilation lacks the exactitude in diagnostic criterion to evidently,
differentiate one diagnosis from the other as well as the distinguishing mental disorder, from the
situation, such as mental distress. DSM is not visibly clear on how experiences and behaviors cited
within the diagnostic criterion justifiably can consider as substantiation of mental disorder as
distinctive from rejoinders to life events (Crowe,

  • 2. Challenges Facing International Students Most international students happen to have some major and minor struggles when they come to the USA. People from different countries usually have different background, different thoughts, different culture. Therefore, international students who come to the USA, tend to struggle with some problems. The three most important challenges international students face can be categorized into three groups: emotional challenges such as culture shock and homesick, social challenges, and academic challenges. The emotional struggles that international students have are homesickness and culture shock. According to Ivan Sekyonda from Uganda, he appreciates the school faculties for helping him with going through homesickness and culture shock (Sewall, p. 127). Students from different countries happen to have trouble adapting to American culture that is more liberal. This inability of getting along with American culture due to culture difference causes homesickness which makes students want to go back home. Many international students seem to not enjoy their first year in America for such problems. The social challenges that international students face include international students only relating to other international students. According to Macalester College, a group of Chinese students were already bonded altogether within themselves even before they came to the campus (Fischer, p. 100). Usually, American students find other students, who are planning go to the same school, on social ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Audrey Hepburn s Lasting Impact On World War II Audrey Hepburn, born in 1929, made a lasting impact on World War II. During the war Hepburn s mother moved her family to the Netherlands where she believed that their family would be kept safe since it was a neutral country. Despite what Hepburn s mother thought, the Nazis invaded. The Nazis cut off food supplies starving their family and millions of others; due to this malnourishment, causing her to have a slender figure that later was envied by many. Due to children s innocence they would be given the task of carrying money and papers to different groups of the resistance. Hepburn was a strong advocate for the resistance, since her uncle was killed by the Nazis, one of her brothers was in a labor camp, and the other brother was in hiding. ... • 4. Malrotation Of The Gut Case Study Volvulus (Malrotation of the Gut) A malrotation of the gut occurs when something goes wrong during development the small intestine (gut or small bowel). When this occurs, the small intestine is not fixed in the abdomen (belly). The intestines are held by just their blood supply. When the intestines become twisted, because they are not fastened down, it cuts off their blood supply. It is much like a hose getting kinked. This loss of blood supply leads to damage to the gut. This condition is also called volvulus. SYMPTOMS Most often this abnormality shows up during the first month of life. Sometimes it may not produce symptoms until adulthood. Usually the abdomen becomes distended and there is vomiting of bilious material. This is greenish or bile stained vomitus. There is usually cramping and intermittent abdominal pain. DIAGNOSIS ... Contrast material is something given to the baby by mouth that shows the inside of the stomach and small bowel better. This X ray shows an abnormal position of the first part of the small bowel located where the small bowel first leaves the stomach. TREATMENT A volvulus is a surgical emergency. This must be corrected immediately to preserve life. The surgeon will untwist the intestine if necessary. The surgeon will cut through the abnormal bands holding the organs in the wrong places. The appendix will be removed. If the child were to have an appendicitis the diagnosis would be dangerously delayed because of the abnormal position. After the operation, it is extremely unlikely the bowel will rotate again. The body has internal scarring called adhesions that hold things in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Unit 6 Case Analysis Paul Arden Case Paul Arden, a creative director and author, once stated If you always make the right decision, the safe decision, the one most people make, you will be the same as everyone else. In the early summer of 2015, I was facing a decision about which deployment architecture to choose for a new product that would launch later in the year. The safe choice was to continue using a legacy installer that was widely used by the rest of the existing product line. However, doing so would perpetuate a cost and toll on the service organization given that this installer was very fragile and time consuming to use. Newer technology was available but many sources felt it was not yet mature enough for production deployment. Additionally, several people associated with the program felt our customers may reject it as an option. The right solution was not obvious and parties for both alternatives were very passionate about their preferred path forward. The real question at hand was to either take the safe route or to take on the risk of being different and potentially end ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We simply did not have the time left in this project for such activities and I was in a place where I had to decide quickly for us to meet our deadline. I began by compiling a list of pros and cons with both alternatives and even considered implementing both options as a fall back scenario if the new technology was not successful. I knew that my team was not trained in the new technology stack and we would have a few bumps in the road during implementation but I had faith in them to overcome these setbacks. I could see the upside to the service engineering team since they would directly benefit the most from the more modern approach. After analyzing the technical aspects of the situation, I asked myself, If I were the customer, which option would I want to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Struggle Between Hindu and Secular Nationalisms in India India holds a prominent place in the history of imperialism and decolonization, making recent events in this country of nearly one billion especially important to the current day citizen. India also faces problems associated with accommodating religion and diversity within a large federal republic, making their experience important for Americans concerned with these issues. India faces growing action of governing which invites the use of violence to achieve political objectives. In spite of India s size and importance, it is hard for an American to gain an understanding of the issues and conflicts which have set the stage for the most recent revival of Hindu nationalism. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Nijhawan remarks, the contending sides swear by secularism. However, secularism as it has come to be practiced by the Congress Party and the Indian government (hereafter referred to simply as secularism) comes under scrutiny for four general reasons: the unequal treatment of different religious groups, the implied hostility to religion, the poor translation of secularism from the West to India and the inability of secularism to create a national identity for India. That both sides attempt to appropriate the term secularism can lead to confusion; even the U.S. government had some problems in its effort to catagorize the debate about secularism. In the opinion of the Hindu nationalist, the Congress commitment to secularism does not bring about the tolerance, the Sarva Dharma Sambhava to be expected of Hindu rulers. P.N. Joshi, President of the Rashtriya Hindu Manch, a militant Hindu organization, explains in his 150 page pamphlet, Secularism in Action: A Fraud, A Conspiracy to Destroy Hinduism that in reality, the picture of secularism in action in this country is neither beautiful not presentable ... in fact, it is ugly and abominable and the produce even though so well packed in gorgeous colours is foul and stinking .ii The concept of secularism in this country, in fact, means to ignore the Hindus, to sell the rights and interests of the Hindus with a view to appeasing the Muslims, Sikhs and Christians for buying their votes. So as we walked I told him everything I had done in the sport and all of my accomplishments. He was impressed being at such a young age not receiving or getting the opportunities to achieve what I had achieved. Neither of his parents had played baseball. His father had played cricket and tennis and his mom ran track. Finally we arrived at the baseball field, Kyle eager to learn about the sport. The grass looked beautifully rich and the sun gleamed on the field. First I taught him how to catch and throw the ball, which he picked up surprisingly very quick. • 8. Vanishing Point Paper Vanishing point was the main focus for this paper, the VP is where the orthogonal lines all meet. Knowing how to find the VP made me want to choose what I believed to be challenging pictures out of what was given to us. This being said, I chose Gas, Edward Hopper 1940, Corridor in the Asylum, Vincent Van Gogh 1889, and L`Europe Geneva Bridge, Gustave Caillebotte 1876. In these three paintings I not only saw a challenge, but also a neat story that can be conveyed in finding the VP. Gas, Edward Hopper 1940, is a picture of a man working the gas pump during the day while no one else is around. The first orthogonal line I chose for this picture was against the grass line following along the gas pumps. I took the line and pulled it along the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A man and woman are walking over the bridge while a dog is walking toward them, and another man is gazing out in the water. In this painting I have three orthogonal lines starting with the first one on the top corner of the building on the left side. This line then follows across the roofline, down through the man walking s neck, through the woman s skirt. This line then finishes on the cement and ending on the shadow of the dog. Orthogonal line two starts at the end of the bridge railing on the bottom right side. The line then continues down the railing, crossing through the old man in green and through the woman and man walking near each other. This line will end on the building in the left corner and right above the buggy by finishing on the building. The third and final line starts along the sidewalk on the bottom left side, leading up the sidewalk and going through the man s coat, head and hat, while ending on building in the middle of the painting. The vanishing point leads us to the man that s walking s head while he is looking away at the water. This vanishing point pulls the focus of the painting on the man and also the women next to him on the bridge. These three pictures all have very different stories in them, which creates for different vanishing points. In some paintings or drawings it can be hard to find a vanishing point due to the different time eras of the artists. Overall, the vanishing points allowed me to zone in on the meanings behind each painting and allowed me to come up with a story as to what s going on in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For example the Mirage has a volcano, Paris has an Eiffel Tower and Treasure Island has a pirate show just to name a few. Do you see a theme? Without a prominent attraction, Harrah s will concentrate on our other features like the reputation of its sister properties, the fun atmosphere, friendly staff and high quality technology to attract its customers. There are few movies with the ability to crawl inside you, and grip your heart like this one. This movie speaks to me on many personal levels, I hardly know where to begin and almost didn t. In Mildred Taylor s book Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry, she discusses the harsh reality of discrimination and courage to stand against it in the 1930s South. Cassie is the most courageous person in the book and I think this because she stood up for Little Man, she confronted Lillian Jean, and she said something to Mr.Barnett. She does this because she doesn t think that it s fair to be treated differently just because she is a different color than others. • 13. Helicopter Parenting Essay There are many different ways to parent your kids, and every kid is different. There are also very many different opinions on how you raised and brought up your kid and how it will affect the child in the long run. Some people let their kids do what they want when they want while others never let them do anything unless they are right there to step in. Everyone is different and some need it more than others but for the average kid less is sometimes better. Helicopter parenting can be helpful in some cases if that is what your child needs. These days there are so many things that kids have to worry about such as school and jobs and everything else we have to do in our busy lives. The hardest thing as a parent is to just stand there and watch your kid struggle and or fail. But also the last thing we need is the added pressure from our parents. Kids may see your help as they were not good enough to do it on their own or that you do not have to confidence in them to let them do it. In recent studies it has shown that the added stress from helicopter parents make our lives worse than what it would be if they just left us alone and let us take care of what we needed to on our own. Especially when it comes to our academic habits. When we are in elementary school all the way up through high school parents like to be there and have a saw in all of our schooling. Myers-Brigg Personality Analysis According to Myers Brigg personality test I am an INFJ (Introverted Intuitive Feeling Judging Personality): As I read the description on learning style, it surprised me how accurate the results were by just answering a few basics questions. In that sense, I am not only an artistic person, but also a student who loves science and seek to help others. These are just some of the hundreds out there that have happened in the past or are happening now. One thing that I want to point out is that they are not the same. Revolutions and social movements are very different in several ways and similar in some. Revolutions, they are a necessary change in the political power when people rise up against it. Revolutions tend to be exceedingly more violent than social movements. For example, the American Revolution was when the 13 colonies rejected the British monarchy and overthrew the authority and founded the United States of America. There were various wars fought in this revolution. Most were very bloody and violent. Over 10,000 soldiers were injured or killed in this war. It may not seem like tons, but when the 13 colonies were first beginning there weren t very many people living there anyways. Social movements, they are large group actions that are usually focused on changing a political or social problem. • 20. Ernest Hemingway Feminism Ernest Hemingway is a male author of fictional stories whose work has been controversial regarding the way he portrays women. This paper will explain how feminist scholars view Ernest Hemingway s fictional stories and why. The way female scholars view Hemingway s stories are important because readers have criticized Hemingway for use stereotyping women in his work and others have enjoyed his work. Therefore, it is important to learn about the different view female scholars have on his fiction. Lawrence Broer and Gloria Holland of The University of Alabama argue that Hemingway has an inability to portray women as independent, strong and sympathetic, therefore why should women continue to read, teach and write about his work (Broer, Holland 7). In contrast Margaret Bauer proposes that the problem critics have with Hemingway s female characters is not that they are one dimensional, but that they are not the central characters (Bauer 126). Throughout this paper short stories by Hemingway like Indian Camp, Hills Like White Elephants, The Sun Also Rises, A Farewell to Arms, For Whom the Bell Tolls, Cat in Rain and The Last Good Country. Throughout the research studies have shown that female scholars criticize Ernest Hemingway s stories passed on prior knowledge to what they have heard about him. However, other scholars read Hemingway s work with an open mind and make their interpretations afterward. The research has shown both negative and positive responses to Hemingway s ... His father, Karamchand Gandhi, already had previous sons and daughters from his four other wives, with Gandhi marking his last son. As a child, Gandhi showed great interests towards family devotion and sacrifices. On his way to Pretoria, a white man objected to the fact that Gandhi was traveling first class. Gandhi refused to move, claiming he had a first class ticket. He was quickly thrown off the train and was forced to spend a night on the station platform. After a successful and fulfilling year as a lawyer, Gandhi s trip to South Africa was almost at an end. At his farewell party, Gandhi spotted a column in the newspaper stating that the government in Natal was preparing to seize Indian s right to vote. Disheartened by India s current condition, Gandhi decided to stay longer and gather signatures for a petition against the discriminatory actions. Within two weeks, the pacifist collected ten thousand signatures and founded the Indian Congress of Natal. Believing that written words would make a bigger impact, Gandhi published two pamphlets that spoke out against the new government movement. Without delay, Gandhi promptly returned to India to fetch his family. In 1906, Gandhi attempted a mass nonviolent civil disobedience campaign to counteract the South African Transvaal governments new restrictions and regulations. He dubbed it Satyagraha, meaning firmness in truth , but his attempts failed and he was promptly arrested. His actions, however, left a lasting impact, leading to multiple rebellions and protest. In 1913, Gandhi made a negotiated a compromise with General Jan Christian Smuts, which ended poll taxes for Indians and recognized non Christian marriages. Later on in his life, Gandhi supervised many other nonviolent acts of rebellions, such as mass marches and boycotts. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Firstly, the positive parts of the TBL lesson, the Teacher (T) was leading the lesson by concentrating on the local needs of the Learners(L) (Tarone and Yule, 1990). Furthermore, near to the end of the class the T could not balance the interaction between herself and the Ls and it led to a diverted situation which expanded the Teacher Talking Time (Stewick, 1980). Following strategies, I learned during the observation that the best way is to shorten the controlled practice to use more talking tasks. During the preparation of the lesson, T need to keep the attention of the Ls, and give clear instructions, use tools such as pictures and the writing on board because they would lose motivations to do the task easily. Also, during the activity, the T s role is to monitor how the L could work together in groups and individually. The most practical way of the seating is the horseshoe arrangement (Gower, Phillips, and Walters, 2014). • 29. Theme Of Love In The Canterbury Tales The idea of love in marriage is a reoccurring theme within British literature, and Chaucer s The Canterbury Tales is no exception. The Canterbury Tales consists of a multitude of short stories which offers a peek into what the social culture of England in the Middle Ages may have been like. Two stories, in particular, are The Millers Tale and The Knights Tale, which are two contrasting stories that juxtaposes each other s stance on love in marriage. From the very moment Palamon and Arcite lay eyes on Emily in The Knights Tale, they are struck with a love so intense that they feel sick to their stomachs. Although this may seem like a typical cliche, this behavior is also fairly typical within the courtly love genre. Palamon and Arcite view Emily as a goddess, even going as far as to potentially break the knight s oath. Soon after, Duke Theseus enters the scene and questions Palamon and Arcite s intense love. Theseus believes that love has the powerful ability to bend people s heart at will. This is evident between Palamon and Arcite as they are willing to break the oath which they are sworn into to fulfill their desires. Ironically, Theseus himself had committed silly acts for the name of love and believes that the wretch I am, now weeping, wailing thus, ( The Knights Tale 931). The Knights Tale has a seemingly conflicting stance on love in that it paints an ennobling portrayal of courtly love in a degrading way. For example, it is evident that Arcite and Palamon ... In such cultures there is little relating to the bargaining or depression stages of Kubler Ross theory, but acceptance certainly applies to both Hindus and Buddhists. Absence of teamwork and communication can result from cultural and rank barriers (McCulloch, Rathbone, Catchpole, 2011). Several studies have been performed to measure job satisfaction in nursing staff, but the aim of this study examines the links between actual unit level staffing and job satisfaction of RNs and nursing assistants (NAs) (Kalisch Hee Lee, 2014) in order to identify factors that lead to employee turnover. The first question the researchers were interested in states, What is the relationship between staffing and job satisfaction of RNs and NAs controlling for demographic variables and patient acuity? The second research question states, Are there any differences as to the significant predictors for job satisfaction between RNs and NAs? The RNs and NAs were surveyed using a questionnaire to rate job satisfaction while also providing demographic data. The researchers used 131 patient care units in 11 different hospitals based in Michigan and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. Albert Bandura s Theory Of Learning And Development Social learning theory proposed by Albert Bandura has become the most influential theory of learning and development. According to Bandura, people learn from each other through observation, imitation and modeling. Social Learning theory explains human behavior in term of continuous reciprocal interaction between cognitive, behavioral and environmental interaction. Bandura believed that direct reinforcement could not account for all types of learning. While the behavioral theories of learning suggested that all learning was the result of associations formed by conditioning, reinforcement, and punishment, Bandura s social learning theory proposed that learning can also occur simply by observing the actions of others. His theory added a social element, arguing that people can learn new information and behaviors by watching other people. Known as observational learning (or modeling), this type of learning can be used to explain a wide variety of behaviors. Bandura explained: Learning would be exceedingly laborious, not to mention hazardous, if people had to rely solely on the effects of their own actions to inform them what to do. Fortunately, ... Microbial Regulation oin the Food Industry Microbiology Topic Paper: Microbial Regulation in the Food Industry Microorganisms have been involved I the development of food items throughout history. Although at first it may have not been intentional over time humans have study and experimented with culturing microbes to prolong the shelf life of foods, inadvertently changing the taste and textures of the food item as well. As safety concerns spread in the 1900s regulations were formed to ensure the safety and well being of humans. In the United States, the U.S. Food and Drug Admiration is the organization that determines the overall safeness of a food element. When Microbes are used in food they tend to fall under two types of categories in the FDA regulatory classifications. The first category would be the generally recognized as safe category or GRAS published as a proposed rule in 1997. Microbes considered GRAS fall under multiple definitions. If a microbe was utilized prior to 1958 as an additive with no apparent side effects and proven to be safe over time, it will fall under GRAS via being grandfathered in. Another way in which a microbe additive will be considered GRAS is through common knowledge. Common knowledge is the assumed awareness that experts have in knowing that a microbe is naturally in the development in the food process. Both songs hold some similarities, most notably in the composition of the instruments, along with some conventions seen in the genre. Yet, strong differences can be found in the vocals, lyrics and general tone of the songs, showing the separation between two rising subcultures in England. Although very similar in composition, the two bands display the growing rift between the mods and the rockers those who preferred the clean cut look and music inspired by the blues, and those who preferred the rebellious nature of a harder rock and roll. Both songs display a very similar make up as far as the band and instruments of choice. The core consists of two guitars, one for lead, and the other for helping maintain rhythm, a bass guitar and drums along with vocals. The difference here is seen in the instruments used to follow the beat. The Beatles utilized hand clapping in the background, standing out distinctly from the drums during a verse, and dissipating as the chorus starts. A good example of this can be heard at 0:07, running until 0:21 as the chorus leads in.
