Flint, Michigan, it seems, is no longer part of the GM plan. To GM s board, Flint is not very
important anymore, it does not need Flint at this point. The board believes it is in GM s best
interest to get the lower priced workers from Mexico, therefore hurting Flint.
This is an example of the conflicts between what workers want and what their employers want.
The textbook says, It is inherent in the process of profit making and places workers and their

Compare and contrast James Scott s and Michel Foucault s theories of power and resistance.
In this essay I shall compare James Scott s theory of power and resistance with Michel Foucault s,
as in what similarities do they share in their structure of theories; and contrast the difference as in
their understanding of power, position they take to look for/into power, exercise of power and
resistance in response. By contrasting the two approaches on the subject of power and
resistance, I shall argue, if one wish to look for the powerful and the weak, Scott s approach is
the go to. But for now, I find Foucault s idea more plausible that we are surrounded by or
inescapable from power, and that by any means, are not necessarily forced to submission; rather as
freedom the same time.
Firstly, I shall compare the similarities the two idea shares. Both Scott and Foucault think power is
more than being a form of coercion, that power is found in symbolic dimensions. Scott stated
power and resistance can be spotted and take forms in language and discourse, that is conversation,
statement, narratives made by the dominant and subordinates, in terms of what he purposes public
transcript and hidden transcript accordingly. Similarly, Foucault see power as coextensive with
language and discourse.
However, Scott and Foucault has very different understanding of power. Scott thinks power is
something that is externally imposed on mankind s social life, whereas Foucault thinks power is

When it comes to what is important to me, I have numerous things that I am passionate about.
Included in that list of important things are animals, but more specifically, dogs. Dogs are a very
important part of my life. I cannot think of a time when I did not have a dog as a part of my
family. In short, dogs are incredible. They can be smart, athletic, reliable, caring, protective,
friendly, etc. Describing a dogis easy for me to do, because I love them. There are copious numbers
of people who agree that dogs are a man s best friend. However, many people have opposing

The objective of this research proposal is to observe whether media plays a role in the negative
perception of certain breeds of dogs. Viewers of the media have opened their minds to accept or
reject what is presented in the media. Some of the presentations fall under biased agenda setting,
so they only receive what the editor s classify as the truth. The significance of this hypothesis
uncovers that some breeds of dogs obtain harsh reputations due to what has been shown in the

Hearts And Minds Documentary Analysis
The documentary Hearts and Minds was interesting and eye opening for me as it was the first in
depth visual of the Vietnam Era and of the war itself. After watching the movie, and thinking
about it without the initial emotional impact, I realized a few things that the director was trying
to prove to the audience. Generally, I thought that the film was biased towards one side. It
showed almost no pro war people except the POW and a few politicians. However, the framing
the director used made them look like fanatics or cold hearted racists. Granted, the human pain

The blatant disregard for non American life, the lack of knowledge in the country about what
was occurring overseas, and the lies that the government pushed down the peoples throats. To be
honest, I think the documentary could have gone either way with the American public at the
time is was released. I feel that if you saw the film with open eyes that it would have greatly
disturbed anyone that saw it. However, I also feel that there would be individuals who would
refuse to believe that that was really went on if they had gone in believing that it was a necessary
