The Care Delivery System Measurement Tool Essay
Ms. Durand evaluates the hemodialysis units care delivery model on a quarterly basis, using the
Care Delivery System measurement tool. She involves staff in this evaluation process to promote
shared governance. The model supports all staff in providing safe, quality, responsible care to our
Veterans. Each staff member continues to articulate the model which is constantly developing as it
responds to both internal and external issues. The units care delivery model ensures a trusting
relationship between the staff and the Veterans. The success of this model has been measured by
our overall quality indicators exceeding the medical center benchmarks and our patient satisfaction
survey for the last few years. We have promoted the need for the Veterans to become active partners
in their own care.
Ms. Durand has successfully implemented staffing methodology for the hemodialysis unit. Her
expert panel can articulate the staffing plan while working closely to evaluate its effectiveness on a
quarterly basis. Her methodology ensures the outcome of optimal and safe nursing coverage in her
area of practice. The staffing methodology uses nursing sensitive indicators, such as adequacy of
treatment, anemia and bone management, vascular access and CLABSI with data driven metrics to
arrive at appropriate staffing levels. Overtime has improved significantly over the last 6 months
with the initial OT in the first few months of 2016 being associated with opening up a new

Malcolm X Movie Analysis
The film Malcolm X was released in 1992. In the movie, Malcolm X is portrayed by Denzel
Washington. It is a biographical drama that depicts the life and legacy of African American civil
rights leader, Malcolm X. One theme that I found to be very evident throughout this film is
evolution. To evolve means to gradually go through a major change. This film effectively captures
Malcolm Xevolving from a troubled teen with a rough childhood into one of the most influential
and powerful leaders of all time. Malcolm Little was born on May 19, 1925 in Omaha, Nebraska.
Both of his parents were proclaimed pan africanist and followers of black nationalist leader
Marcus Garvey. There were also very active in the Universal Negro Improvement Association.
When Malcolm was 6 years old, his father was killed by members of a white supremacist group
called the Black Legion, mainly because of him involvement with UNIA and his commitment to
pan africanism and the advancement of colored people, which was highly frowned upon during
that time. When he was 13 years old, his mother was admitted into a mental health facility after
suffering a nervous breakdown. Consequently, Malcolm and his 10 siblings were separated and
sent to various foster homes. In 1943, Malcolm moved to Harlem, New York where he began to
engage in several illegal activities such as drug dealing, robbery, pimping, and gambling. In 1946,
he was arrested and sent to jail for larceny and breaking and entering. During his

Alkaline phosphatase (ALP) is a compound present in every body tissue. It has a wide variety of
chemical structures. The structure diversity depends on the part of the body ALP occurs
(University of California San Francisco Medical Center, 2009). ALP contains three metal ions, two
Zinc and one Magnesium, on each active site. This makes it a very active enzyme (Department of

Safe Sex No Regrets Campaign Essay
Northern Territory Government Safe Sex, No Regrets Media Campaign
Australia has been experiencing increased rates of sexually transmissible infections (STIs) over
the past ten years as a direct result of unsafe sex practises (ABS Australian Social Trends, Jun
2012). These infections are some of the most common illnesses worldwide affecting the health and
wellbeing of people infected, particularily women in regards to their fertility (Gerbase, Rowley,
heymann et, al 1998). Northern Territory Health (2008) along with the other Australian states have

The National Notifiable Diseases Surveillance System (2010) received reports that the
predominant sexually transmissible infections during 2010 were Chlamydia and syphilis. It has
been established that the 15 to 29 year age group have the highest rates of infection and this is
continually increasing (Wilkins amp; Mak 2005). Research carried out by Stancombe Research
amp; Planning (2008) have confirmed that people falling into this age group not only show higher
rates of infection of STIs but also have limited knowledge of correct safe sex practice. These
findings brought to the forefront that the awareness of STIs was extremely low, particularly
amongst the younger population bringing to attention that education about the harm associated
with STIs was and is crucial, along with informed structural strategies that help reduce the risks, if
changing beliefs and attitudes in regards to improved sexual health are to be achieved.
Undiagnosed and untreated sexually transmissible infections (STIs) have negative health outcomes
for both individuals involved and the community (Strobel amp; Ward 2012). Higher costs to
medical services are a direct result from complications such as infertility, pelvic inflammatory
disease and cervical cancer caused by STIs. Risks need to be brought to the wider communities

Effectiveness of Therapeutic Exercises for Chronic Low Back Pain
Low back pain (LBP) is a major cause of disability wherein it involves nerves, muscles and bones
of the back (Luciana G Macedo, 2008). The sensation of pain that can be felt can be a dull
constant ache or a sudden sharp feeling (National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke,

Solubility of a Salt
Introduction
Mixture is two or more materials that can be physically separated, and there are two types of
mixture: heterogeneous and homogeneous. In heterogeneous, the different components of the
mixture can be seen separately. However, homogenous is the term of mixture which all components
stick together to be uniform. Also, in a mixture we have solvent and solute. A solvent is the major
part of solution which dissolves the solute, and solute is the part of solution that is being dissolved.
Therefore the combination of solvent and solute is solution which is a type of homogenous
mixture. For example, if water is the solvent and lemon juice and sugar are the solute, lemonade is
the solution. Also, every solution has its own solubility which is the maximum amount of solute that
will dissolve in a solvent under certain condition. A solution can be saturated, unsaturated, and super

Dance Concert Proposal
On February 6, my boyfriend and I attended the So Cal Dance Invitational. Going into the theatre,
I was expecting a performance similar to ones I have done in the past. I was unaware that it would
be a dance concert revolved around the modern dance style. Once we found our seats, I began
thumbing through the playbill. My boyfriend is a total stranger to the danceworld so naturally, he
was asking me questions about what it was going to be like and simple questions regarding dance
that anyone might ask. We didn t wait long until the show finally began. The director of the show
came on stage first to introduce the production as well as the opening number. An orange light

As the concert continued, I started to notice a pattern and was getting bored. I was tired of
seeing the same style of dance over and over again and quite honestly was ready to leave during
intermission. Me being the dance lover that I am, talked myself out of this decision and chose to
stay out of respect for the dancers. The second half of the show made me think and focus a bit
more and harder. It s not that the routines were more complex, seeing how they were still the
modern style and there are only so many things you can do with the body; it was more so the stories
that were being told that caused me to use my brain a little more than the first act had. In the
opening number, there were three dancers: two males and one female, the woman appeared to be a
good head taller than the men in the beginning counts but as the routine went on, she somehow
shrank to be around the same height, if not slightly shorter than the men. Truthfully, the routine did
not entertain me enough to pay full attention to it other than what I have already stated as

The Influence of Books on the Past and Present Literacy
The article describes the influence of religious books such as the bible on the past and present
states of literacy. Past literacy based on religious books shows the origin of the biblical practices of
exorcism and the culture of Protestantism in England. It describes the superstitions surrounding the
early forms of education and the difficulty they bring as regards the understanding of religious
books. The article shows that the understanding of the bible influenced the presentstate of literacy
by introducing prudence and enlightenment. The article is important in the research as it will
provide enough information on how the western culturehas reformed the present literacy by drawing
its roots from protestant Christianity.
The article describes how the past literacy played an important role in adult education. For
instance, the educators linked several issues to past literacy and adult education. The bone of
contention emerges between the impact of theory and practice on policy making. The research
provides the basis of how the three coexist in the world of literacy. It provides the platform where
literacy meets adult education. The aspect of literacy in this context relates to classrooms,
workplaces, cyberspace, and tutorial sessions. The scholar article is important as it will provide a
basis for understanding how the past literacy practices evolved into present literacy on the issue of
adult education. More importantly, it links policy making to literacy.

In the early 1900 s a group of powerful business people came to the rescue of the economically
drowning Midsouth area. This area which was highly dependent on transportation for economic
development had no representation against any legislative decisions. That is until the Midsouth
Chamber of Commerce (MSCC) was formed. This group lobbied legislature on the issue to provide

Lassiter took it upon himself to make sure the product was ordered. Another month went by and
Lassiter found out the product was still not implemented, Kovecki was too busy with another
project and was not able to get to it until mid April. Lassiter needed to get things moving; after all
he told the Board it would be completed by the end of March 2006. He took some steps for
action, called a meeting to inform his staff, set up appointments with UNITRAK for training
himself and staff, yet the project continued to lag and Lassiter had no choice but to ask
Wallingford to intervene. He strongly urged Hedges and Kovecki toward completion of the project.
Gaps in the system continued, not only did the staff complain about the software not being user
friendly, UNITRAK openly admitted the software was new and that they were open to adjustments
and changes, that did not give the staff any confidence. More problems came about when Kovecki
attempted to transfer the information from the old system to the new and was unsuccessful.
Lassiter was at his wits end, sat down and let out a loud sigh.
Many issues have been brought forth in this case study. I believe that I would propose the
following actions to the Executive Board.
First I would propose role modification changes. A Chief Information Officer (CIO) position
would be created and Lassiter would be the right candidate for it. Value is

The Effect Of Diversity On Asian-American Culture
Does race really matter on our tv screens? The facts, statistics and stories that follow this question
almost a century after the invention makes the answer clear. What you see on television is a big
part of what how people regard other cultures and diversity as a whole. The misconceptions of how
the world looks and works dramatically impacts the audience, and what they think is the societal
norm.
Television has been around since 1925 and likely will not go away anytime soon. Back when it

Analysis Of Machiavelli

HIS 102 W1: Western Civilization II

There are many reasons why Machiavelli is widely considered the beginner of modern political
thought, one of the many is he studied strictly the politicians, and businessmen. Machiavelli
recognized the political playing field as a vile place only for the most dominating and cunning of
political giants. One of Machiavelli s most famous work, On Principalities, or known by the other
title, The Prince, absolutely announced a break with previous political beliefs secured between

Without the power of the control the prince had over them many of the people would believe they
were free to do as they pleased without persecution.
Threw his book and most of his life Machiavelli was considered a consequentialist for believing
that actions should be courted by their aftermath. The way he thought you could measure a
consequence calculating your actions. He thought this way would be great way to rationalizing
actions others would consider to be against most morals. These thoughts slowly lead him into the
mind set of believe in what is then what it ought to be , his mind continuously worked out many
of the political problems and soon came to realize that it does not matter on how things should be
when what is is more of a challenge than just changing it to fit what the people and the nobles
want it to be. Living in the what is allows more of the power to be set to the holder rather than
making changes to the what it ought to be and allowing power to slowly slip into the public based
on their opinion.
Machiavelli s works and thoughts were lousily connected to how he viewed human nature, he
believed people were mostly self centered, even though many of their affections for others could be
won over and lost within a short period of time. They remained content as long they avoided
hardships and persecution. You may be able to trust them in

The Purpose Of Art And Its Felicity
Joseph Anton Koch The purpose of art and its felicity lies both in its aesthetic quality as well is the
instructive capacity of art, wherein the various perspectives employed by artist s help to understand
the particular period in which the work was created and the influences that may have attributed to
the final product. The early 19th centuryin Europe was marked by a desire to return to the
classicism of the Greek and Roman empires as it connoted a sense of stability after the upheaval
of the French revolution which had brought down existing social, political and economic structures
to an end. The work ofJoseph Anton Koch, a German painter who chose to live in Rome and
imbibe the traditions of the classicists shows in his work a clear attachment to the values of linear
composition and idyllic subject matter and this is clearly apparent in his monumental workHeroic
Landscape with Rainbow, now a part of the European gallery at the Metropolitan Museum of Arts in
New York City. This work is an apt illustration of the manner in which the neoclassical tradition of
landscape paintingbecame an important part of the works of European painters of the early 19th
century as a means of portraying the kind of society which people aspired to after the upheavals of
the late 18th century. The heroic landscape as a painting genre had achieved great popularity in the
17th century when artists like Nicholas Poussin and Claude Lorrain captured the beauty of the

Should Textbooks Be Taught In Schools Research Paper
Technology constantly evolves, adding new features, applications, and creative opportunities for
advancements. However, some critics consider education as archaic and unimaginative, for it
preserves the practices of pencil and paper, textbooks and notes.
In the past decade, technology advanced faster than previously before, forcing the question whether
schools and communities should integrate technology with education. In addition, boards consider
how much is appropriate to include in the educational standards while maintaining a balance with
traditional methods.
Schools argue that these tablets or other technological devices are a cost burden on the school
district since they have to pay and maintain a higher bandwidth cost, in addition to the initial cost
of purchasing the tablets. Implementation costs for e textbooks on iPad tablets are 552% higher
than new print textbooks in an average high school, and the annual cost per student per class with
tablets is $71.55 vs. $14.26 for print textbooks ( Should Tablets Replace Textbooks in K 12

Eulogy For America
Once we were revered and powerful. Now we are forgotten relics of the past, left to wither in the
dust of time. No longer are we feared or worshipped, with the vain hope of being spared. I am
Lachesis, measurer of the thread and this is the story of the unavoidable destruction of my sisters
and I, the fates.
She spun around, there was fire, blood, and death everywhere. They had seen the army as it
approached, felt the thud of the earth from their marching. She called out for her son. There was
no escape, but she hoped for it anyway. She stumbled through the market, tripped on bodies and
ignored the wail of a babe that sat beside its mother s unmoving body. Relief bloomed in her chest,
her searching eyes found her son, he ran towards her. Her gaze swept past him and landed on us.
Few excepted what the sight of us meant, hiding even in their last moments from death. The
youngest of us, Clotho was humming almost serene, spinning thread onto its spindle. Myself
measuring what she spun to the determined length, our elder sister Atropos, cackling almost crazed,
she snipped the thread of life. Mortals they cling to life even as the inevitability of death crushes

The government should be second to the people, no matter what the orders were. The Jacobins
get their name from the Jacobin Monastery where they frequently met. They wanted a
centralized government and were comprised of cruel hearted people that were more often than

the Girondins were led by Jean Marie Roland and his wife Marie Roland. The majority of the
Girondins came from an area called Gironde, and were much more wealthy and honest as
compared to the Jacobins. The district of Gironde was made up of people of high intellect. The
Girondins urged citizens to stop the violence while Jacobins encouraged the bloodshed. At the
begging of the struggle there was a wide gap between the Girondins and the Jacobins, as the
Jacobins were seen as the minority. The Girondins saw themselves as strong enough to dissolve

which celebrants explode fireworks, share sweets, and send greetings to friends and family.
Women may have their hands decorated with henna designs. Homes are decorated with small
lamps and colorful paper lanterns called diyas and kandils, important parts of Diwali decorations.
In some parts of India, Hindus also create rangoli, intricate floor paintings made of colored tikka

Research Paper On Tourette Syndrome
Tourette Syndrome is a common neurological disorder that affects many Americans every year. It is
characterized by sudden motor tics that can be involuntary and repetitive. These involuntary motor
tics can have degrees of intensity ranging from simple to complex. Brief and repetitive movements
such as, eye blinking, facial grimacing, other eye movements characterize simple motor tics. Simple
motor tics usually involve a limited number of muscle groups and can include simple vocalizations
such as, repetitive sniffing, throat clearing, or grunting sounds. Unlike simple motor tics, complex
motor tics are distinct and coordinated patterns of movement. Facial grimacing, sniffing or touching

How did that work? In reality, it only accelerated our financial problems. One thing we must keep
in mind, a 3.2 percent property tax increase does not cover a 3.2 percent budget increase.
A 3.2 percent budget increase adds more than $1.66 million in costs and a 3.2 percent property tax
increase will likely raise only roughly $1 million of additional revenue. This is because a large
portion of our revenue comes from other sources like the State and Federal governments. Property
taxes are the largest portion of our revenue, but it is significantly short the cost of the budget, So,
expect to add an additional $600K deficit to the carried over deficit from last year.
Ok, sure, nothing has been decided. However, there are only so many viable paths here. So, you

lived in Johnstown and surrounding towns. The main industries of the time were the Pennsylvania

The Pros And Cons Of Stop And Frrisk Case
On October 31, 1963, a veteran detective of 39 years in downtown Cleveland noticed two men (one
being the petitioner Terry) walking back in forth in front of the same store numerous times each.
When they returned they would talk between each other for a few moments. Then, the men met
with a third man and stood outside suspiciously chatting before the third man left (Terry v. Ohio).
The officer suspected that the men were casing the stores for a stick up or robbery and began to
follow the two men (Oyez). Again, the two men met with the third man around the block in front of
another store and again conversed. That is when the detective approached the three men,
announcing himself as a policeofficer and asking the names of the men (Terry v. Ohio). The men
replied with a low mumble, upon which the officer grabbed Terry, spun him around and patted
him down (ACLU Ohio). Upon patting down his overcoat, he found a pistol on Terry, and then
another pistol on the other man that was originally with Terry, before patting down and arresting
the three men on concealed weapon charges. This type of stop and frisk technique is now known
as the Terry frisk because of this (Argiriou). This case revolves around whether the stop and frisk
by the officer violated the Fourth Amendment rights of Terry, which provides protection from
illegal search and seizures (Oyez). Do the police have the ability to stop and pat down anyone that
they deem suspicious, or do people have more rights to

Analysis Of Alfonso Cuaron s Children Of Men
STATEMENT This essay analyses how mise en scene informs both what is seen and how we are
invited to see it, in Alfonso Cuaron s Children of Men (2006), a dystopian science fiction thriller.
The film is set in England in 2027 and humanity has become infertile. Every other society has
collapsed due to dwindling populations with many migrating to England a former activist, Theo
Faron (Clive Owen), agrees to help, Julian Taylor (Julianne Moore), to get Kee a miraculously
pregnant woman to a sanctuary at sea. The aim of this essay is to investigate the power of mise en

this imaginarysociety and the use of omnipresent media in the film and how audienceis invited to
see it by resembling their own reality. Using close textual anlysis of Children of Men, combined
with an ideological critique of post 9/11 global, this analysis will demonstrate how Alfonso Cuaron

invites them to debate the nature of contemporary society or politics . Key words: mise en scene,

New Method Of Ultrahard Material Synthesis
New Method in Ultrahard Material Synthesis: CS2 Catalyzed Ultrahard Fullerite
Ultrahard materials is a broad category define by materials that are harder than diamond. Diamond,
thought to be the hardest material for centuries hasn t been the hardest material seen by scientists in
a long time. Many materials have been developed or discovered recently that surpass the 150 GPa
hardness of diamond by as much as 100%. There are many ways to measure the hardness of a
material, from the classic scratch test to more complicated bulk modulus calculations. Other tests of
hardness include indentation and rebound tests, or measurements of the elastic and shear modulus.
Ultrahard fullerite is one such material that has surpassed diamond with values ... Show more

Structural studies of fullerite are hampered by its lack of a 4 or 6 fold axis, so long term periodicity
in fullerite s crystal lattice isn t possible for covalently bonded fullerene molecules in three
dimensions. TEM studies have shown a sequence of FCC phases that have been explained by
bonded fullerene chains formation. Because of this difficulty, researchers have turned to Raman
spectroscopy to study the polymerization, which has features explained by the C60 phonon spectra
perturbations by intermolecular covalent bonding. The 3D polymerized phases produced in
ultrahard fullerite synthesis are phase IV and V, where phase V is the desired ultrahard fullerite.
Phase V is translucent in the near IR or visible range having a Raman spectrum containing two
broad peaks around 1550 cm 1 and around 500 cm 1.
Prior to research by Popov et al., the synthesis conditions of ultrahard fullerite depended on a
degree of plastic deformation and stress tensor variation of a sample under compression. The
minimum required pressure for synthesis was 13 GPa at 1100 K, or 18 GPa at room temperature,
both of which aren t suitable for industrial production without a catalyst. The polymerization of
fullerene molecules starts under sunlight irradiation at ambient temperatures to create dimers.
These simple conditions for these intermolecular bonds to form led researchers to hypothesize

Arnold Friend Allusion
Where Are You Going? Where Have You Been, is a testament of a true artist, because art can be
interpreted into many forms and meanings. These meanings can differ from person to person, such
as each reader of this tale can walk away with a different understanding of what the deeper
implication may be. With the element of religious metaphors and allusions, the author is able to
connect her short story to a much deeper value that pertains to today s society and it s current
relations with religion.
Within Where Are You Going? Where Have You Been? it is prevalent that Connie s family is not

Since she does not seem to idolize her parents and respect them in any form, she finds another

important to Connie at this time in her life. A biblical allusioncould be made between the
confrontation of Arnold Friend and Connie. Arnold Friend and his charismatic attempt to persuade
Connie to get out of her house and come for a ride (Oates) in his car with him could be interpreted
as Eve and the serpent that tempts her to eat the forbidden apple. Just as the serpent exclaimed, For
God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as
gods, knowing good and evil, Arnold Friend attempted to persuade Connie to do as he desired.

Satan, as a character, has been satirized, mocked and made foolish in our modern world. John
Milton, however, presents quite a different Satan from the devil on your shoulder image people
are used to seeing. In Paradise Lost, Milton draws on the Bible for his source of Satan s character,
thereby creating a horrifyingly corrupt Satan. Despite this portrayal, readersoften find themselves

evidenced by his long, brave speeches. Later, however Satan s speeches begin to show signs of

Heav n against Heav n s matchless King: Ah Wherefore! he deserved no such return From me,
whom he created what I was In that bright eminence, and with his good Upbraided non, nor was
his service hard (4.39 45)
Looking back, Satan sees that his actions against God were not fully justified. He recalls how
glorious things were, even calling God the matchless King . He further decides that things were
better than he thought, noting that the service was not bad, and that he probably owed service to
God for creating him. After thinking about this, though, Satan attempts to justify his actions by
saying O had his powerful destiny ordained/ Me some inferior angel, I had stood/ Then happy; no
unbounded hope had raised/ Ambition (4.58 61) . Satan feels that it was his prominent position
that forced him to become so ambitious, and that none of these feelings would have emerged if he
had been a lesser angel.
This inner battle leads the reader to become slightly suspicious about Satan s description of
himself in earlier books, and their own interpretation of his earlier words. It becomes difficult to
view Satan as a hero, when his own words call into doubt everything for which he stands. While
Satan s ultimate decision is to carry through with his plan, the reader is invited to look through this

Proposition 140
Initiatives like any other issues have two sides to it; we must assess both sides to get a better
scope of the issue. Contrary to the believe, propositions gave some benefits to the people of
California as well as the legislature. In 1911 the California legislature passed the initiative process
and was later approved through an election by Californians. By doing so Californians were given
the right to directly vote on constitutional amendments and statues. In California, the legislatureis

We see that propositions have changed the function of the legislature by creating constraints and
mandating certain actions. The stipulations and mandate of Proposition 13 and 58 is
problematic for it makes it difficult for legislators to create policies or pass the budget.
Proposition13 created a two thirds majority rule, which made it difficult to pass any tax revenue.
This is problematic especially during an economic crisis for the legislature is not able to create
new revenue sources when needed. The two thirds rule imposed by Proposition 13 creates
hostage taking in the legislature for it allows the legislative minority to demand major concession
for their vote. By doing so, the minority in the chamber can stall the passage of policies or even

Analysis Of Nancy Parsons In Turkish Dress Portrait
Oftentimes, portraits are mistakenly believed to be objective representations of their subjects by the
uninformed viewer. Thus, portraits are thought to simply depict the exact likeness of their sitters. In
reality, however, they reveal much more than just the physical appearance of their figures. Portraits
can, and usually do, convey a significant amount of information about their subjects, such as their
wealth, social status, marital status, and moral virtue. Through the use of visual features like
garments, props, and pose, portraits also tend to ascribe these attributes to their sitters, whether or
not such characteristics are accurate. George Willison s Nancy Parsonsin Turkish Dress (1771)
paintingprovides an excellent example that portraits are not merely records of how their sitters
looked. With a thorough analysis of the portrait, multiple implied messages about Ms. Parsons are
exposed. The Nancy Parsons in Turkish Dress portrait illustrates her profession as a courtesan,
wealth and social status, and conformity to the contemporary conventions of femininity. Notorious
for engaging in many intimate relationships with aristocratic men of all ranks and ages, such as
Duke of Grafton, Duke of Dorset, and Viscount Maynard, Nancy Parsons wishes to emphasize
these aspects of her identity in the painting to preserve her public self image from further
scandalous claims. In Nancy Parsons in Turkish Dress, the artist portrays his female model in a
domestic interior. She

Rhetorical Analysis Of Volkswagen
Over 17 million cars and trucks are sold around the world every year. Amongst the plethora of car
companies aiming to convince shoppers that their car is paramount, marketing teams ought to go
the extra mile. By developing a persuading advertisement, companies are more likely to sell their
products. On February 6, 2011, Volkswagenaired a Superbowl commercial for the first time in over
ten years. This commercial would be one that awakens the inner child of millions. By employing
pathos, ethos, and logos rhetorictechniques, Volkswagen is able to appeal to consumers in order to
sell their new car.
In the commercial, a young boy dressed as Darth Vaderfrom the Star Wars films struggles to use
the force on objects throughout his house. After ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By displaying the innocence of the boy, it might help families who watch the commercial relate
to their own children. Secondly, we see the mother in the commercial who appears slightly
irritated with her son since he s been trying all day. This character choice might help other parents
relate to a situation where they ve gotten annoyed when their child gets too involved with
pretending to do something. Finally, we see the father at the end of the commercial who wants to
assist his son when pretending to be Darth Vader. By showing a father who helps his son believe
he was successful with using the force, it demonstrates a loving and caring relationship. This might
make fathers who watch the commercial want to go out and buy the car to be that loving and
caring dad. The advertisement s stylistic choice is effective due to how they tell a story and use
supportive rhetorical techniques. First, Volkswagen does this by pulling people in with the
rhetorical technique of pathos. By creating a scenario within the advertisement which consumers
can relate to, the viewer tends to feel a sense of familiarity and emotional attachment. The scene in
the commercial that acts as the strong emotional trigger is the final scene where the young boy
uses the force on the car. Whether it s a parent watching the commercial or someone thinking back
to their own childhood, there s a way they can relate to it. For parent s watching the commercial,
they might imagine a

The Silance Of Music In Alfred Hitchcock s Vrtigo
Vertigo is a 1958 film directed by Alfred Hitchcock, starring James Stewart, Kim Novak, and
Barbara Bel Geddes. The film follows the acrophobic, retired San Francisco detective, John
Scottie Ferguson (Stewart) who is hired to trail his friend s wife, Madeleine (Novak), but falls
in love with her in the process. When Madeleine dies in what is deemed a suicide, John becomes
depressed and begins to obsess over Judy (Novak), who looks exactly like the Madeleine he
knew. After changing Judy s appearance to be a doppelganger of Madeleine, John comes to find
out that he had actually fallen in love with Judy pretending to be Madeleine, because she was
part of a plot to murder the real Madeleine. One aspect of the film that is interesting is the way
the balance of music and dialogue add to the suspense of the story. As stated in James Berardinelli
s review of Vertigo, There are numerous, lengthy passages that pass without dialogue (most of
these occur while John is trailing Madeleine), and Herrmann s music sustains Hitchcock s
carefully crafted tone. As well as to create these interesting scenes that rely almost entirely on
visuals to tell the story, the music has an important role of building the feeling of suspense,
complete with the typical thriller crescendos used to foreshadow a big event. This film has many
technical aspects that help it stand apart from others and the musical choices made are a clear
example of this. Another aspect of this film that is fantastic is the

How The Philosophies Of Lily And Selden In The House Of Mirth
Lily Bart is 29 years old in early 20th century America, unwed and unattached to any family

she is orphaned, as she desperately clings to the wealth of her friends and attempts to marry into
money. Among the many suitable prospects, Lily finds Lawrence Selden, a bachelor who exists
on the edge of rich society with no fortune of his own and no desire to acquire any, the most
alluring. References to the Bible and Greek mythology serve to flesh out the respective
approaches to life of Lily and Selden, how those approaches adapt to the course of their lives and
the overall struggle between pleasure and survival. To first establish the different philosophies of
Lily and Selden, Wharton titles the novelwith a reference to the Bible which condemns frivolous

traveling. She takes only one thing very seriously: her goal of marrying into a fortune

A Report On California Drought

California Drought Here in the desert we all know it s a very dry place. You may also know that
California is in a drought as well and the dryness of our area has resulted in many continuous
disadvantages. People are conserving water as much as they can but maybe some of you out
there are not doing your part in saving our water and I am here to tell you it is so simple! But first,
let me provide some facts on the drought in California that should help you realize the dire
situation we are in. According to saveourwater.com, 2013 was marked as the driest year on record
in many parts of California including Sacramento and Los Angeles. Water storage in the big
reservoirs, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In other words, the drought can really affect our economy as well as our social life. The Sierra
Nevada snowpack, which is counted on to provide 30 percent of the state s water supply as it
melts through early summer, is at its second lowest level on record. According to Hippo Reads, it
will take about 11 trillion gallons of water (42 cubic kilometers) around 1.5 times the maximum
volume of the largest U.S. reservoir to recover from California s continuing drought, according to a
new analysis of NASA satellite data.
Now you may be thinking to yourself, How can California even start to cope with this drought?
How can it go back to normal in a climate that receives little snowpack and rain? Well although
these issues are complex, there have been some achievements political and otherwise toward
developing more resilient water supplies. One way is groundwater legislation: our Governor, Jerry
Brown, signed legislation mandating sustainable groundwater management, though the law leaves
local entities to define that idea further. We have to learn to manage wisely water, energy, land and
our investments, that s why this is important, said Governor Brown (CA.gov). Another way our
government is helping is the spending on water projects.

Tiebout Case Study
Charles Tiebout believed that people move from one political administration to another in search of
their interests in government taxes and spending. This theory suggest that people choose
government in the same way as they choose their car, a home or any other things of their daily life.
However this shopping is affected by some other factors (Encyclonomic, 2000 2016).
The Tiebout theory says that people have two options for affecting the job of local government
participation in economy. People can vote to replace the government which not of their will, or
they move to some other place which offers a more preferred policies (Taxes). These options
improve the assignment of resources matching the government activity with consumer favors.
While there is a problem, all people don t have the same resources to relocate themselves to place
which better suits them. Some people have job problems which stop them from relocation, while
some has some bond with the community where they are living. On the other hand economists
adopt only practically possible thing from Tiebout model.
The positive view of Tiebout is that we don t have to take care of the local government approach.
The government has to make stable and reasonable rules of taxes and benefits to make people stay
or choose them, on the other hand if government fails to maintain cost benefit ratio they have to

The Medicine Wheel
In Native American Spirituality, the medicine wheel represents harmony and connections and is
considered a major symbol of peaceful interactions among all living beings on earth ( Medicine
Wheel , 2013, p. 1). The medicine wheel has been used for many generations of various American
native tribes and are still used today in the Native American spirituality. In an interview with an
aboriginal woman B.C, B.C stated the wheel has been passed down from generation from
generation and the meaning of the wheel has never been altered and it s very symbolic to the first
nation s people. The following is a picture of the medicine wheel;

The wheel suggests that each aspect of the wheel must be equally developed in a healthy way and
balance in each area puts us into balance. If there is part of the wheel not in balance it may greatly
effect health decisions (uOttawa, 2009) First Nations people agree that emphasis needs to be given
in each area of the wheel.
The medicine wheel symbolizes the interconnection of all life, the various cycles of nature, and
how life represents a circular journey. The number four is sacred to the many Aboriginal peoples of
North America and can represent many things: the four seasons, the four parts of a person
(physical, mental, emotional and spiritual); the four kingdoms (animal, mineral, plant and human);
the four sacred medicines (sweet grass, tobacco, cedar and sage). Hence, you may see the medicine
wheel presented in several different ways (uOttawa, 2009, p. 1)
Different tribes examine the medicine wheel differently (Terpning, 2011). They continue to use the
wheel as a first nation symbol. The wheel continues to be sacred to them for various reasons,
including teachings, health and healing, many traditional ceremonies, dances and ritual vision
quest (Sutherland, 2013). It is important to First Nations People to continue to use this Medicine
wheel and it is important to remember that if the focus is on one area of the medicine

The Palestinian-Israeli Conflict in the Middle East Essay
The Palestinian Israeli Conflict in the Middle East
The Arab world is not in a compromising mood... Nations never concede; they fight. You won t get
anything by peaceful means or compromise. You can, perhaps get something, but only by the force
of your arms...But it s too late to talk of peaceful solutions (Bard 1). The Arab League Secretary
Azzam Pasha said this statement on September 16, 1947, eight months before the state of Israel was
established. The Arabs held this mentality in a time when Israel was not yet a fact. This trait was
hereditary in the sense that it was taught to their children, who taught it to their children, and so on.
Those are the people who are living in Arab countries, and still despise everything about Israel ...

Even though a cease fire was in effect, the war continued as Arabs closed the Suez Canal to Israel
shipping and Israel (in retaliation) did not allow the 700,000 Arab refugees return to their homes
(Regan 22).
The problem was that no Arab State wanted those refugees so camps were set up in Gaza Strip,
which was controlled by Egypt, and the West Bank, which was controlled by Jordan (23). This
inability to find a home land for the people now called Palestinians would lead to many of Israel s
conflicts with the Arab world. The Arabs did not want their Palestinian brothers in their countries
but, for some reason, Israel, the Jewish State, was supposed to take them in even though it had the
best reason not to. Was Israel, which had just won the war, now supposed to take back their
enemies? Of course not.
From 1949 to 1956, there was no peace in Israel, because Egypt continued attacking Israel from
one side while Syria continued attacking from the other. In 1953, in order to try to stop the
violence, Israel passed the Land Acquisition Law, offering payment for property taken from Arab
citizens of Israel who lived there between May 4, 1949 and April 1, 1952 (Silverman 54).
However that did not appear to stop the terror in the region or make peace with its neighbors. On
October 14, 1956 Egyptian President Nasser said, [o]ur hatred is very strong. There is no sense in
talking about peace with Israel. There is not the smallest place for negotiations

How far do you agree with the opinion that courtship and marriage are undermined and ridiculed in
The Taming of the Shrew ?
Shakespeare s drama The Taming of the Shrew is set in the Elizabethan era, and marriage and
courtship was very different than how it is in the present. Back then it was the parents who picked
suitors for their daughters. This choice would be final for the daughters but often women rebelled
against the decision as they wanted to choose their own suitors. Romeo and Juliet is an example of
this. In our Taming of the Shrew this is no different as Baptista Minola chooses the suitors in which
marry his daughters.
We first see this undermining of courtshipand marriage when Petruchio speaks of his view on ...
Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Petruchio takes away the whole aspect of falling in love from Katherina as he forces her to
marry him and her father happily abides, will you, nill you, I will marry you . This again makes
a charade of marriage. I agree when CoppГ©lia Kahn says The overt force Petruchio wields over
Kate by marrying her against her will in the first place, and then by denying her every wish and
comfort, stamping, shouting, reducing her to exhaustion, etc., is but a farcical representation of the
psychological realities of marriage... as the audience would definitely find it funny and is a perfect
example of Shakespeare s attempts to ridicule the sanctity of marriage.
As Robert Heilman demonstrates, the taming is best viewed as farce which carries out our desire
to simplify life by a selective anesthetizing of the whole person; man retains all his energy yet
never really gets hurt and this is shown as the drama is a comedy of mocking the institution of
marriage.
Another negative outlook against marriage and courtship is when we find of Hortensio s plans to
disguise himself as a schoolmaster well seen in music to instruct Bianca . Lucentio also disguises
himself by swapping clothes and identities with Tranio so that he may woo Bianca secretly. This
shows courtship to be a mockery as when you court someone, you are opening up and showing the
person who you are and that you ve nothing to hide. Hortensio is doing the complete opposite as

The Correlation Between The Value Of Time Series Of...
Autocorrelation
Autocorrelation is defined as the correlation between the value of time series at a specific time
and previous values of the same series (Reference). In other words, with time series what happens
in time t contains information about what will happen at time t+1. Autocorrelation plots are a
commonly used tool for checking randomness in a data set. This randomness is ascertained by
computing autocorrelations for data values at varying time lags. If random, such autocorrelations
should be near zero for any and all time lag separations. If non random, then one or more of the
autocorrelations will be significantly non zero. The autocorrelation plots can provide answers to
questions such as are the data random? Is an observation related to an adjacent observation? Is the
observed time series white noise, sinusoidal or autoregressive? They help in understanding the
underlying relationship between the data points. The autocorrelation plots of 4 time series of
heating operating system are as follows :
a. Supply temperature setpoint : The plot starts with a high correlation at lag 1 which is slightly less
than 1 and slowly declines. It continues to decrease until it becomes negative and starts showing an
increasing negative correlation. The decreasing autocorrelation is generally linear with little noise.
Such a pattern in the autocorrelation plot is a signature of strong autocorrelation , which in turn
provides high predictability if modeled properly. b. System

Mother Son Conflict In The Odyssey
There is a common theme in Greek Mythology of children fighting with, overthrowing, and often
killing their parents. Zeus kills his father Cronus to rise to power as the king of the Olympian
gods. Prior to this, Cronus had killed his own father, Uranus, which lead to the rise of the Titans.
Perhaps you re confused. No one kills their parents in the books we read in class, you re probably
thinking. In this, you are correct. However, Telemachus relationship with his mother Penelopestill
fits some aspects of this trope of struggling in the assumption of power from his parents. His
murder of the maids at his father s command is influenced by his attempting to prevail in this
mother son conflict.
In order to present this concept in my media project, I created a comic detailing Telemachus
hypothetical thought process, the people and statements I d imagine were passing through his mind
the moment before he murdered the maids. In doing so, I can justify my thesis. Sections from the
comic and the quotations that go along with them will appear on the screen behind me as I provide
literary analysis, and at the end I ll show the comic in full.
To begin, in order to prove the murders were influenced by the conflict, it must first be proven that
there is a conflict. Shortly after the introductory section of the Odyssey, we see Telemachus telling
his mother to go back to her quarters and tend to her distaff and loom . Then, he reminds her he
holds the reins of power in their house.

The Efficacy Of Massage Therapy On Preterm Infants
The Efficacy of Massage Therapy on Preterm Infants Taryn L. Metz Winona State University The
Efficacy of Massage Therapy on Premature Infants According to the Centers for Disease Control
and Prevention (2013) 500,000 infants are affected by preterm births each year. A preterm infant
is born prior to 37 weeks of their gestational age (Smith, 2012) and can be classified as very
premature (less than 32 weeks gestation), premature (born between 32 and 34 weeks gestation) or
late premature (born between 34 and 37 weeks gestation) (Durham Chapman, 2010). Despite the
widespread advances in hospital policies and extensive research, the preterm birthrate continues to

My dream is to not only promote healing for such vulnerable patients, but also inspire hope in the
families of these premature infants. I am continuously striving to become the best nurse and patient
advocate that I can be, by implementing more than just conventional treatment within each of my
patient s plan of care. My interest in the use of alternative therapies led me to develop the following
question: In hospitalized preterm infants, does the use of massage therapy promote overall
adaptation and development? Massage therapy is defined as, a systematic touch by human hands,
which stimulates the tactile sense of the infant and which has been documented for several decades
to have a positive effect on both full term and preterm infants (Abdallah et al., 2013, p. 663). The
goal of this paper is to describe the transition from intrauterine to extrauterine life and identify
normal adaptation for the newborn and how these adaptations can affect a preterm infants
development, identify different nonpharmacological interventions, including massage therapy and
determine whether these techniques are effective in promoting adaptation and development of the
preterm infant and if so, how do these therapies impact the preterm infant s overall development.
Throughout the human experience, one of the most complex adaptations is the transition from
intrauterine to

The next possible step in being a zoologist is to gain a Doctoral degree in order to teach zoology at

the doctoral level is often used to create new plans for conservation of very specific animal
species. This would be a great goal, but I am not sure if I would like to push myself this far in my
educational lineup as of now, and I would make this option depending on how my life is going at
this stage. For doctorateschool, students must carry out their own original research, write a

Julie Andrews, James Earl Jones, And Jim Parsons
If one would to ask you how Julie Andrews, James Earl Jones, and Jim Parsons have anything in
common, the simplest answer besides them all having a name that start with a J, is that they re
among the many actors and actresses that enjoy successful careers both on stage and on screen.
Although film acting differs from stage acting, the practice can still equip an actorto excel at both.
But the point at hand is still at question, just how do these two different forms of entertainment both
come together with their similarities, but yet separate when it comes to their differences?
Well, for starters, The biggest difference between acting for stage versus acting for screen is the
location of the audience. In a theatre, the stage tends to be far away from the audience. Depending
on the size of the theatre, the actors need to exaggerate their facial expressions and gestures so
even the people towards the back of the theatre can see what s going on. For example, actors
cannot express sadness with just a single tear onstage, since only the audience members closest to
the stage will see it, leaving everyone else in a world of confusion as to what is going on right in
front of them.
When acting on screen, however, the camera can get extremely close to the actor, which closes the
gap between the audience and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For each live theatre performance, actors have just one chance to get thing in order before they
get on stage to perform. That s why it is so important to have a strong and healthy voice, and to
ensure that lines are memorized. Depending on the show or production budget, microphones may
or may not be used during a performance. Even with a microphone, actors must practice and
perform their lines accurately each time, with crisp diction and clear enunciation. In musicals,
actors must get their notes and lyrics correct on the first try. There are no do overs during a live

  • 5. Malcolm X Movie Analysis The film Malcolm X was released in 1992. In the movie, Malcolm X is portrayed by Denzel Washington. It is a biographical drama that depicts the life and legacy of African American civil rights leader, Malcolm X. One theme that I found to be very evident throughout this film is evolution. To evolve means to gradually go through a major change. This film effectively captures Malcolm Xevolving from a troubled teen with a rough childhood into one of the most influential and powerful leaders of all time. Malcolm Little was born on May 19, 1925 in Omaha, Nebraska. Both of his parents were proclaimed pan africanist and followers of black nationalist leader Marcus Garvey. There were also very active in the Universal Negro Improvement Association. When Malcolm was 6 years old, his father was killed by members of a white supremacist group called the Black Legion, mainly because of him involvement with UNIA and his commitment to pan africanism and the advancement of colored people, which was highly frowned upon during that time. When he was 13 years old, his mother was admitted into a mental health facility after suffering a nervous breakdown. Consequently, Malcolm and his 10 siblings were separated and sent to various foster homes. In 1943, Malcolm moved to Harlem, New York where he began to engage in several illegal activities such as drug dealing, robbery, pimping, and gambling. In 1946, he was arrested and sent to jail for larceny and breaking and entering. During his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Solubility Of A Salt Lab Report Sozi Hassan Section 3 November 7, 2016 Solubility of a Salt Introduction Mixture is two or more materials that can be physically separated, and there are two types of mixture: heterogeneous and homogeneous. I was tired of seeing the same style of dance over and over again and quite honestly was ready to leave during intermission. Me being the dance lover that I am, talked myself out of this decision and chose to stay out of respect for the dancers. The second half of the show made me think and focus a bit more and harder. It s not that the routines were more complex, seeing how they were still the modern style and there are only so many things you can do with the body; it was more so the stories that were being told that caused me to use my brain a little more than the first act had. In the opening number, there were three dancers: two males and one female, the woman appeared to be a good head taller than the men in the beginning counts but as the routine went on, she somehow shrank to be around the same height, if not slightly shorter than the men. The Purpose Of Art And Its Felicity Joseph Anton Koch The purpose of art and its felicity lies both in its aesthetic quality as well is the instructive capacity of art, wherein the various perspectives employed by artist s help to understand the particular period in which the work was created and the influences that may have attributed to the final product. The early 19th centuryin Europe was marked by a desire to return to the classicism of the Greek and Roman empires as it connoted a sense of stability after the upheaval of the French revolution which had brought down existing social, political and economic structures to an end. The work ofJoseph Anton Koch, a German painter who chose to live in Rome and imbibe the traditions of the classicists shows in his work a clear attachment to the values of linear composition and idyllic subject matter and this is clearly apparent in his monumental workHeroic Landscape with Rainbow, now a part of the European gallery at the Metropolitan Museum of Arts in New York City. This work is an apt illustration of the manner in which the neoclassical tradition of landscape paintingbecame an important part of the works of European painters of the early 19th century as a means of portraying the kind of society which people aspired to after the upheavals of the late 18th century. The heroic landscape as a painting genre had achieved great popularity in the 17th century when artists like Nicholas Poussin and Claude Lorrain captured the beauty of the natural environmentas a ... However, some critics consider education as archaic and unimaginative, for it preserves the practices of pencil and paper, textbooks and notes. In the past decade, technology advanced faster than previously before, forcing the question whether schools and communities should integrate technology with education. In addition, boards consider how much is appropriate to include in the educational standards while maintaining a balance with traditional methods. Schools argue that these tablets or other technological devices are a cost burden on the school district since they have to pay and maintain a higher bandwidth cost, in addition to the initial cost of purchasing the tablets. Implementation costs for e textbooks on iPad tablets are 552% higher than new print textbooks in an average high school, and the annual cost per student per class with tablets is $71.55 vs. $14.26 for print textbooks ( Should Tablets Replace Textbooks in K 12 Schools? 3). She spun around, there was fire, blood, and death everywhere. They had seen the army as it approached, felt the thud of the earth from their marching. She called out for her son. There was no escape, but she hoped for it anyway. She stumbled through the market, tripped on bodies and ignored the wail of a babe that sat beside its mother s unmoving body. Relief bloomed in her chest, her searching eyes found her son, he ran towards her. Her gaze swept past him and landed on us. Few excepted what the sight of us meant, hiding even in their last moments from death. The youngest of us, Clotho was humming almost serene, spinning thread onto its spindle. Many materials have been developed or discovered recently that surpass the 150 GPa hardness of diamond by as much as 100%. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Structural studies of fullerite are hampered by its lack of a 4 or 6 fold axis, so long term periodicity in fullerite s crystal lattice isn t possible for covalently bonded fullerene molecules in three dimensions. TEM studies have shown a sequence of FCC phases that have been explained by bonded fullerene chains formation. Because of this difficulty, researchers have turned to Raman spectroscopy to study the polymerization, which has features explained by the C60 phonon spectra perturbations by intermolecular covalent bonding. The 3D polymerized phases produced in ultrahard fullerite synthesis are phase IV and V, where phase V is the desired ultrahard fullerite. Phase V is translucent in the near IR or visible range having a Raman spectrum containing two broad peaks around 1550 cm 1 and around 500 cm 1. Prior to research by Popov et al., the synthesis conditions of ultrahard fullerite depended on a degree of plastic deformation and stress tensor variation of a sample under compression. The minimum required pressure for synthesis was 13 GPa at 1100 K, or 18 GPa at room temperature, both of which aren t suitable for industrial production without a catalyst. John Milton, however, presents quite a different Satan from the devil on your shoulder image people are used to seeing. In Paradise Lost, Milton draws on the Bible for his source of Satan s character, thereby creating a horrifyingly corrupt Satan. Despite this portrayal, readersoften find themselves sympathizingwith Satan s cause, and his determination, viewing him as a hero for his cause, as evidenced by his long, brave speeches. He recalls how glorious things were, even calling God the matchless King . He further decides that things were better than he thought, noting that the service was not bad, and that he probably owed service to God for creating him. After thinking about this, though, Satan attempts to justify his actions by saying O had his powerful destiny ordained/ Me some inferior angel, I had stood/ Then happy; no unbounded hope had raised/ Ambition (4.58 61) . Satan feels that it was his prominent position that forced him to become so ambitious, and that none of these feelings would have emerged if he had been a lesser angel. This inner battle leads the reader to become slightly suspicious about Satan s description of himself in earlier books, and their own interpretation of his earlier words. • 43. Analysis Of Nancy Parsons In Turkish Dress Portrait Oftentimes, portraits are mistakenly believed to be objective representations of their subjects by the uninformed viewer. Thus, portraits are thought to simply depict the exact likeness of their sitters. In reality, however, they reveal much more than just the physical appearance of their figures. Portraits can, and usually do, convey a significant amount of information about their subjects, such as their wealth, social status, marital status, and moral virtue. Through the use of visual features like garments, props, and pose, portraits also tend to ascribe these attributes to their sitters, whether or not such characteristics are accurate. George Willison s Nancy Parsonsin Turkish Dress (1771) paintingprovides an excellent example that portraits are not merely records of how their sitters looked. With a thorough analysis of the portrait, multiple implied messages about Ms. Parsons are exposed. The Nancy Parsons in Turkish Dress portrait illustrates her profession as a courtesan, wealth and social status, and conformity to the contemporary conventions of femininity. Notorious for engaging in many intimate relationships with aristocratic men of all ranks and ages, such as Duke of Grafton, Duke of Dorset, and Viscount Maynard, Nancy Parsons wishes to emphasize these aspects of her identity in the painting to preserve her public self image from further scandalous claims. • 46. The Silance Of Music In Alfred Hitchcock s Vrtigo Vertigo is a 1958 film directed by Alfred Hitchcock, starring James Stewart, Kim Novak, and Barbara Bel Geddes. The film follows the acrophobic, retired San Francisco detective, John Scottie Ferguson (Stewart) who is hired to trail his friend s wife, Madeleine (Novak), but falls in love with her in the process. When Madeleine dies in what is deemed a suicide, John becomes depressed and begins to obsess over Judy (Novak), who looks exactly like the Madeleine he knew. After changing Judy s appearance to be a doppelganger of Madeleine, John comes to find out that he had actually fallen in love with Judy pretending to be Madeleine, because she was part of a plot to murder the real Madeleine. One aspect of the film that is interesting is the way the balance of music and dialogue add to the suspense of the story. As stated in James Berardinelli s review of Vertigo, There are numerous, lengthy passages that pass without dialogue (most of these occur while John is trailing Madeleine), and Herrmann s music sustains Hitchcock s carefully crafted tone. As well as to create these interesting scenes that rely almost entirely on visuals to tell the story, the music has an important role of building the feeling of suspense, complete with the typical thriller crescendos used to foreshadow a big event. This film has many technical aspects that help it stand apart from others and the musical choices made are a clear example of this. Another aspect of this film that is fantastic is the ... This inability to find a home land for the people now called Palestinians would lead to many of Israel s conflicts with the Arab world. The Arabs did not want their Palestinian brothers in their countries but, for some reason, Israel, the Jewish State, was supposed to take them in even though it had the best reason not to. Back then it was the parents who picked suitors for their daughters. This choice would be final for the daughters but often women rebelled against the decision as they wanted to choose their own suitors. Romeo and Juliet is an example of this. Another negative outlook against marriage and courtship is when we find of Hortensio s plans to disguise himself as a schoolmaster well seen in music to instruct Bianca . Lucentio also disguises himself by swapping clothes and identities with Tranio so that he may woo Bianca secretly. Autocorrelation Autocorrelation is defined as the correlation between the value of time series at a specific time and previous values of the same series (Reference). In other words, with time series what happens in time t contains information about what will happen at time t+1. Autocorrelation plots are a commonly used tool for checking randomness in a data set. This randomness is ascertained by computing autocorrelations for data values at varying time lags. If random, such autocorrelations should be near zero for any and all time lag separations. If non random, then one or more of the autocorrelations will be significantly non zero. The autocorrelation plots can provide answers to questions such as are the data random? Is an observation related to an adjacent observation? Is the observed time series white noise, sinusoidal or autoregressive? They help in understanding the underlying relationship between the data points. The autocorrelation plots of 4 time series of heating operating system are as follows : a. Supply temperature setpoint : The plot starts with a high correlation at lag 1 which is slightly less than 1 and slowly declines. No one kills their parents in the books we read in class, you re probably thinking. In this, you are correct. However, Telemachus relationship with his mother Penelopestill fits some aspects of this trope of struggling in the assumption of power from his parents. His murder of the maids at his father s command is influenced by his attempting to prevail in this mother son conflict. In order to present this concept in my media project, I created a comic detailing Telemachus hypothetical thought process, the people and statements I d imagine were passing through his mind the moment before he murdered the maids. Julie Andrews, James Earl Jones, And Jim Parsons If one would to ask you how Julie Andrews, James Earl Jones, and Jim Parsons have anything in common, the simplest answer besides them all having a name that start with a J, is that they re among the many actors and actresses that enjoy successful careers both on stage and on screen. Although film acting differs from stage acting, the practice can still equip an actorto excel at both. But the point at hand is still at question, just how do these two different forms of entertainment both come together with their similarities, but yet separate when it comes to their differences? Well, for starters, The biggest difference between acting for stage versus acting for screen is the location of the audience. In a theatre, the stage tends to be far away from the audience. Depending on the size of the theatre, the actors need to exaggerate their facial expressions and gestures so even the people towards the back of the theatre can see what s going on. For example, actors cannot express sadness with just a single tear onstage, since only the audience members closest to the stage will see it, leaving everyone else in a world of confusion as to what is going on right in front of them.
