wrongly by the Puritans. The Puritans are ruthless and harsh towards sinners such as Hester Prynne,
unlike the natural world which is merciful and kind. The novel tells a story of characters trying
to find their way into the sympathetic light or lose their way into the deep despair of darkness.
Hawthorne uses sunshine or light as an element of forgiveness and innocence, while using the
darkness to symbolize the evil. The contradiction between the light and darkness can be depicted
between Pearl who is favored by the sunshine, Hester who is later favored, and Chillingworth who
is enveloped by the evil darkness. Hawthorne s use of sunshine to favor Pearl presents the
understanding that Pearl is innocent and pure. Pearl was brought into the world out of sin and the
Puritans view her as a child from the devil. The use of sunshine and light to Pearl s favor

Cola has expanded to over 200+ countries. From concerts to sport venues to local restaurants you
are more than likely to come across a Coca Cola product, Coca Cola has had such an impact on
society that it is given credit for how we portray Santa Clause today. Other credits should also be
given to Coca Cola like an increase in diabetes and other diseases. Coca Cola has been known to
cause several health issues such as diabetes, liver problems and heart disease. There has been
scientific research that has proven how Coca Cola effects the human body negatively. For example,
a study shows exactly what happens to the human body after an hour of drinking coke.

Analysis Of If I Forget Thee, Oh Earth
1. I was, initially, struck by the imagery in the author s writing. With the vivid descriptions and
general lucidity coupled with the slow revelations throughout the plot, the style of writing keeps
you engaged. This impressed me most, as well as the clever usage of a biblical quote in the title to
allude towards the themes in the story.
2. The genre of If I Forget Thee, Oh Earth is science fiction.
3. We find the exposition in our introduction to Marvin, the young protagonist who seems to be
living in some sort of lunar colony with the remains of humanity, as his father leads him through
long, echoing corridors. The rising action occurs as Marvin is allowed Outside for the very first
time, at which point his father brings him to a vehicle and drives them away from their Colony. In
the climax, Marvin sees Earth, or at least what remains of it. His father explains to him how Earth
was destroyed, that their Colony is all that is left. In the falling action, we see Marvin understanding
the purpose of this pilgrimage. He knows he will not venture to Earth, but in the denouement,
Marvin decides to pass this story and a dream of returning to Earth along with it to his own son one
day. Marvin and his father return to their colony.
4. Our protagonist is Marvin, the main character. There is no clear antagonist, except perhaps the
past and future of humanity and the destruction said humanity brought upon itself.
