According to the case, Lowe s management said that the growth rate of next two years would be 18%
to 19%. So I prefer to use this rate as the growth rate of the first two years. The growth rate of the first
two years would be 18.5%. The growth rate from 2004 to 2006 is estimated by the number of new
stores, sq. footage and the historical sales. The following exhibit will show this result.

Alfred Nobel s Impact On The Citizens Of The United States
Alfred Nobel If I have a thousand ideas and only one turns out to be good, I am satisfied . This means
that you can have a thousand ideas and only one will come out good. Alfred Nobel impacted the
citizens of the United States because he invented an explosive called dynamite and the Nobel Peace
Prize. The explosive was used in the war, which made it more dramatic. Alfred Nobel was born in
Stockholm, Sweden, October 21, 1833. He was a Swedish chemist, engineer, and industrialist, and
invented dynamite and other powerful explosives. His father Immanuel Nobel was a Swedish
engineer, architect, Inventor and industrialist. Also invented the rotary lathe used in Plymouth
manufacturing. Alfred was taught at home by tutors. Later in the years he

Tennessee Williams Who Is Your Intended Audience
1. Who is your author?
American playwright/dramatist, Thomas Lanier Tennessee Williams III
2. Specifically, what about this author piqued your interest?
My interest in Tennessee Williams was piqued after reading his biography. The following quote I
found particularly captivating:
At the age of fourteen, I discovered writing as an escape from a world of reality in which I felt acutely
uncomfortable. It immediately became my place of retreat, my cave, my refuge. From what? From
being called a sissy by neighborhood kids, and Miss Nancy by my father, because I would rather read
books in my grandfather s large and classical library than play marbles and baseball and other normal
kid games, a result of a severe childhood illness and of excessive attachment to the female members of
my family, who had coaxed me back into ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

This Study Reports The Detection Of The Carbapenem Resistance
This study reports the detection of the carbapenem resistance gene blaOXA 48 in 33 clinical isolates
of Pseudomonas aeruginosa from six hospitals in Khartoum state Sudan in period from December
2015 to June 2016. 21.2% of the samples were positive for the blaoxa 48. 36.4.8% of the samples
were resistant to meropenem, and 54.5% were sensitive while 9.1 were intermediately resistant to
meropenem. Among the imipenem resistant organisms 57.1% of them were positive for the blaoxa 48,
28.6% of the intermediately resistant were positive for the blaoxa 48 and 14.3% of the sensitive
organisms were positive to the blaoxa 48. 42.4% were resistant to imipenem, 48.5% were sensitive

Istanbul Turkey (Aktaş et al., 2008). Followed by several cases of OXA 48 producing organisms like
pseudomonas, E.coli and citrobacter were reported in patients from or have a relation with Turkey

Middle Eastern countries and North Africa. Sporadic cases have been reported in Lebanon, Oman,
Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. In Africa, mostly in northern African countries of Egypt, Tunisia, Libya and
Morocco. There were also reports of the enzyme producing organism in Senegal and South Africa
(Pasteran et al., Lafeuille et al., 2013, Nasr et al., 2013). This study reports the detection of blaOXA

Justice And Justice In Just Mercy, By Bryan Stevenson
In the novel, Just Mercy, by Bryan Stevenson, it is extremely apparent that there is a link between
poverty, wealth, injustice, and justice. This book incorporates a strong theme of poverty and how it
relates to justice, as well as injustice. Furthermore, it very apparently works to explain and provide
examples of problems within the justice system, and the urgency that these be corrected. One major
problem being poverty in relation to obtaining justice. This being said, throughout my personal
reading of the book, I have come to agree with Stevenson s statement, the opposite of poverty is not
wealth; the opposite of poverty is justice (Stevenson 18).
Walter McMillian, a man falsely convicted for a crime, experienced an immense amount of injustices
originally fueled from his race and societal status.
I felt the need to explain to people what Walter had taught me. Walter made me understand why we
have to reform a system of criminal justice that continues to treat people better if they are rich and
guilty than if they are poor and innocent. A system that denies the poor the legal help they need, that
makes wealth and status more important than culpability, must be changed. (Stevenson 313)
What I have interpreted this as, is the court system is trying to get through these things as quickly as
possible, as well as try to convict someone as quickly as possible to give the community a sense of
reassurance that a murderer is off the streets. Furthermore, if the

Generosity In The Shawshank Redemption
Andy is a man that is in complete contrast to the brutal prison, he spreads his positive views onto the
other prisoners, especially Red. In the film The Shawshank redemption, the director Frank Darabont
displays that through the contrasts in Andy and Red s characters that Andy is able to save himself and
Red from certain institutionalisation. Andy also achieves this through the display of generosity verses
the brutality the prisoners undergo in Shawshank. Andy is ultimately able to save Red and commit
Red to a lifetime of freedom rather then imprisonment and institutionalisation. Guilt and innocence is
a seemingly binary thing, either you are guilty or you are innocent, but that is not the case with Andy
Dufresne. Andy states that he was previously innocent but is forced to change his was and commit
crimes to survive the harshness of prison, this is displayed when Andy says The funny thing ... Show

Warden norton s two values are in direct contrast, he believes in discipline and the bible, the bad and
the good. Norton lets the audience know this when he tells the new inmates I believe in two things:
discipline and the Bible. Here you ll receive both. Put your trust in the Lord; your ass belongs to me .
Through the cracks of brutality comes friendship. Red gives various gifts to Andy but the gift that
shows Red s generosity in their friendship is the gift of rocks. Not only does Andy s generosity and
kindness just rub off on Red by it also spreads to the rest of the gang as they want to help Andy too.
This is communicated to the audience when Red says to the rest of the gang The man likes to play
chess; let s get him some rocks . Before Andy all Red s deals were purely business but Andy taught
Red the effect of generosity and kindness, this therefore saved him from certainly dying in prison.
Andy taught Red to find what people really want, this helped Red in his parol

The Importance Of The French-English Relations In Canada
English and French Canadians have had one of the most complicated and intriguing relationships
throughout all of history. Even though they share the prosperous country of Canada, they could not be
more divided as a nation. Factors such as language, culture and political beliefs have separated these
two vast majority of Canadians for a very long time. Throughout the last century, French English
relations have slightly improved over time, yet there is still an unstable peace between the two
peoples. This will be clearly demonstrated throughout this essay, which will explore three critical time
periods that changed French English relations in Canada. Between the years 1914 and 1929, relations
amongst the English and the French are shown to be very unstable and unpleasant, due to the events
which occurred in that timeframe. Later on between the years 1930 and 1945, relations improved
slightly because much was learned from the previous time period. In the years after, the unstable peace
and division between French and English Canada, even to this day, was established.
In the years between 1914 and 1929, relations between French and English Canada were shown to be
very unpleasant, due to events which occurred throughout the time frame. To begin with, the
conscription crisis of 1917 brought upon hostility and division between French and English Canada.
The conscription crisis occurred when the federal government of Canada, as well as Canada s Prime
minister at the time, Sir Robert

Raiders Of The Lost Ark Film Analysis Essay
Raiders of the Lost Ark The film Raiders of the Lost Ark was directed by Steven Spielberg in 1981. It
is the first film in a series of films that follow the adventures of archaeologist and professor Indiana
Jones. Some proclaim the Raiders of the Lost Ark is one of the best action/adventure movies of all
time. Since its release, the film has grossed $389 million worldwide and is ranked #40 on the top rated
movies list on IMDB.
Mise en Scene:
Raiders of the lost Ark takes place in 1936. When comes down to the settings, lighting, music,
costumes and the way everyone acts in this film, everything works together to get an overall feel that
the time really is the 1936. The costumes look like outfits people would really wear during that time
and the music sounds right for that era.
In the very beginning of the film, viewers see Indiana Jones walking through the jungle with some
men. Although his face is not shown for the first couple of minutes you can tell that the man in the
fedora is an important character. It s never specifically mentioned that it is a jungle but there are
animal noises and plants in the background. Also, the lighting looks natural almost as if the sun is
shining through a thick canopy of trees. All the men look a little tired and their faces and clothes look
dirty. From the way the music sounds and the way they all look you can tell that they are on some kind
of quest, searching for something for what seems like a while.
One of the best scenes in the

IV therapy is used because it is fast acting, works effectively and if there are any side effects then the
treatment can be stopped instantly (Hopkins 1999 p13); (Mallett Dougherty 2000 p822). During my
clinical placements I have witnessed IV therapy being administered to patients who require prescribed
analgesia, antibiotics or anti emetics as well as observing patients reactions to the treatment. IV
therapy can be very effective (Hyde 2002 p42) but it also carries the greatest risk of any
administration route. Amoore Adamson (2003 p45) maintain that the safe administration of IV therapy
requires the nurse to be skilled and knowledgeable in the use of the equipment, and to prevent any
adverse incidents nurses must have up to date knowledge of the associated risks. As a student nurse I
am not considered professionally accountable and I must work within my level of understanding and
competence, under the direct supervision of a registered nurse (NMC guide for students 2006 p4).
Nurses must have the knowledge and skills for safe and effective practice when working without
direct supervision (NMC The Code 2007 p7). The Royal College of Nursing (RCN 2003 p7) states
that IV therapy is a central part of a nurse s professional practice. I realise that as a final year student I
am not authorised to give IV therapy without supervision, so as a newly registered nurse this is an
ideal opportunity to learn about IV therapy. I am using the SMART Framework to

The Reality of Sex Slavery in the Present Day
In Margaret Atwood s novel, Oryx and Crake, she constantly places the reader in an uncomfortable
environment. The story takes place in a not so distant future where today s world no longer exists due
to an unknown catastrophe. The only human is a man who calls himself the Abominable Snowman or
Snowman for short, but in his childhood days his name was Jimmy. If the thought of being all alone in
the world is not uneasy enough, Atwood takes this opportunity to point out the flaws of the modern
world through Snowman s reminiscing about Jimmy s childhood. The truths exposed are events that
people do not want to acknowledge: animal abuse for human advancement, elimination of human

informing the public about human trafficking reports, 3,287 people are sold or kidnaped and forced
into slavery every day. That s 136 an hour and that s just the reported cases ( Human Trafficking Facts

because there was only so much food to go around (Atwood 117). In a world with so much why do
young children and families with so little have to suffer? Why must these girls come to peace with the
images they have seen? Why must families justify the sales of their daughters by stating In the village
it was not called selling, this transaction. The talk about it implied apprenticeship. The children were
being trained to earn their living in a wide world (Atwood 116). An honest living that involves a girl
not yet a teenage to undress in front of a man multiple times her age in exchange for money (Atwood
131). It does not have to be that way. Atwood makes that clear. If the root of the problem is there is not
enough food for the children to survive there is a simple solution. If society was more aware of what
was happening the increase in awareness and charitable contributions could lead to a hopeful
tomorrow. While this answer seems easy enough to apply the

How Does the Line Between High and Pop Culture Become...
In this essay I intend to explore what is meant by the terms popular culture and high culture. I will also
look at how the relationship between these two terms has become distorted and blurred over time. In
order to reinforce what I am saying about popular and high culture I will be using a range of examples
from the music industry to show how the line between high culture and popular culture has become
ambiguous. I will also call upon the work of John Storey to give my work an academic foundation.
Although Storey is the main academic I will be looking at, I will also include references to a number
of other academics who have written about popular culture and high culture.
The term popular culture is a particularly difficult one to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Once this is established, the format of the programme changes and viewers are coaxed in and
persuaded to vote for the contestant that they wish to stay in the competition. Even when the show has
finished, the viewers are urged to buy the records of the winning contestants. The person who benefits
the most from this is Simon Cowell, who takes a certain percentage of whatever the show makes
financially. This is also known as mass culture and sometimes commercial culture. Mass culture is a
form of culture which is produced purely to make a profit. The profit is made by exploiting the mass
members of the public into consuming a product (e.g. The X Factor). (Strinati; 1995)
This is a contradiction to the types of popular culture which are made by the people and for the people

Corporation). T o start with, the BBC is a non profit organisation; in effect the money which it makes
is put back into the corporation and consequently used to make the services that the BBC provides.
Also, the BBC takes the majority of its funding from the public. Each household in the UK which
owns a colour television set must pay for a TV license, which currently costs £145.50

producing the BBC s TV, radio and online services. The BBC also is for the people as the majority of

The Impact Of The Golden Age Of Literature
With the end of the conflict that resulted to the war between the United States of America and Great
Britain after the ratification of the Treaty of Ghent, America entered into an era that saw great changes
politically, economically, and socially. The presidential elections were more vibrant as more men
partook in the exercise, the industrial and economic growth was notably consistent with growth in
science, arts, and the textile industries, and the emancipation of slavery led to the end of that trade
with the civil war of 1861 to 1865. The crucial development of this century was the development and
changes that saw the beginning of a new era of politics. As result of the high political contention
between the Democrats and the Whigs, American would have twenty presidents between 1825 with
John Quincy Adams win and William McKinley in 1897. The presidential contention of 1824 between
John Quincy Adams and Andrew Jackson would take the American politics to a new height. Even

Camphor Reduction Reaction Lab Report
The purpose of this experiment was to perform a reduction reaction using camphor in methanol with
sodium borohydride. This reaction generated a mixture of diasteroemers; bornoel and isoborneol.
NMR analysis was used to determine the product ratio of isoborneol to borneol. In this experiment,
100 mg of camphor, appearing as white crystals, were dissolve in 1 mL methanol. Four portions of
approximately 25 mg of sodium borohydride were added. The reaction mixture was refluxed for 5
minutes and cooled to room temperature. The reaction flask was then placed into ice bath and filtrated
by vacuum filtration. The mixture of isoborneol and borneol appeared to as a white powder. Camphor
is the limiting reagent in this reaction, which will theoretically yield 0.101 g of borneol. In this
experiment, .0961 g of bornoel was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is very high yield, which indicate there weren t any errors in this experiment. As seen the
calculations, the product ratio between isoborneol to borneol is 3.91. This means that for every 3.91
isoborneol will be 1 borneol. Compared to the example with integration ratio of 2.314 and 9.497, a
product ratio of 5.13 was calculated. The product ratios are similar, however, in this experiment much
less borneol was found. Even in the NMR displayed in figure A, it was difficult locating the peak B,
which represented borneol. Isoborneol is the major product in this reaction because the reaction has
favorable mechanism for endo pathway. In this reaction, sodium borohydride acts as nucleophile to
the electrophile of the carbonyl on camphor. Sodium borohydride can attack via the endo and exo
pathways. In order to attack the exo pathway, the sodium borohydride has to

Transplant surgery can be a very incredible topic. The act of exchanging organs or even body parts to
help or even save another persons life is truly amazing. Transplant surgery can save many lives
without even affecting the donor at all. Organs can come from any body whether it be deceased, alive,
or brain dead. New studies are even trying to get animal organs into humans who need them. The
value of having transplant surgery weighs more than not being able to benefit or save someone s life.
There is nothing un ethical about where the organs come form as I said organs can come from any

Paternalistic Interference interferes with the an individuals choice or conduct that is justified or

Canada Target Market Segmentation
Firms that utilize market segmentation, targeting, and positioning strategy have recognized that their
product can be focused on specific portions of the market. Thus enabling the most successful
marketing of their product. These firms operate under a consideration that they are not marketing their

Romance and Reality in Flaubert’s Madame Bovary Essay
Romance and Reality in Flaubert s Madame Bovary
In the story of Alice in Wonderland we follow Alice down a rabbit hole into a land of pure wonder,
where the logic of a little girl holds no sway. In Gustave Flaubert s Madame Bovary, we witness
exactly the opposite as Emma Bovary, a most romantic creature, is purposely cast into a harshly
realistic world. In either case, a creature is put into an environment unnatural to her disposition, yet in
Flaubert s example, Emma shares the world we inhabit, and thus the message her story brings is much
more pertinent. To convey this message, Flaubert replicates not a world of fantasy, but rather the real
world, with all its joy, sadness, and occasional monotony intact. Then he proceeds to dump an ... Show

All the bitterness of life seemed to be served up to her on her plate, and as the steam rose from the
boiled meat, waves of nausea rose from the depths of her soul. (Flaubert 58)
This image and atmosphere of mundane imperfection is a far cry from what Emma expects after
reading the romantic novels she smuggled in at the convent. From those foppish texts she gathers the
impression that ladies such as she should be lolling on carriages or dreaming on sofas, or perhaps
embracing some dashing young man in a short cloak (Flaubert 32). Yet such is not the reality in which
she lives.
Flaubert adds to his stark images the homey atmospheres and settings of the provincial towns in which
Emma lives, places which by their very simplistic natures are anathema to a romantic such as Bovary.
It is only through Emma s depiction of these villages that they are cast as mundane and drab. Though
the image exists of the small and backward town with its town gossips and town idiot, it can be seen
that it is simply a town, one in which a person can be content that is, if she is not the always
unfulfilled Emma Bovary. Thus the setting and the stereotypical characters add to the realistic
atmosphere that confronts Emma.
Into the midst of this hodgepodge of unflattering images and commonalties, Flaubert then tosses
Emma and Charles. To Emma, Charles is

Super Size Me Social Cognitive Theory
The film, Super Size Me, was a documentary that was created to show the harmful effects of
McDonalds. Morgan created this film to mainly display that fast food is becoming a ritual in North
American. This movie showed McDonalds could really affect a person s health. Eating fast food
repeatedly can cause serious liver issues, cholesterol problems, chest pains and obesity. Morgan
mentions everything time he consumes his meals from McDonalds he always feels down and
depressed. This shows that the food you eat can absolutely affect your mood. Morgan gained over
twenty pounds eating McDonalds three times a day for thirty days straight. He surely exposed the
phrase you are what you eat along with proving why Americans continue to be overweight with
obesity on the rise.
The theory I chose that relates to this movie is the Social Cognitive Theory. Also the article I chose is

A prodrug in order to elicit required pharmacological effect, must be converted enzymatically or

problems associated with absorption, tumor targeting, distribution, pharmacokinetics, premature

first applied to steroids in ophthalmology to improve the corneal absorption, aqueous solubility and
patient compliance 52. The first prodrug dipivefrin (a prodrug of epinephrine) for ophthalmic use was

Granulomatous Tissue Essay
Granulomatous tissue is a typically small area of inflammatory cells that have fused together, to create
large multinucleated cells to fight against infectious bacteria. Granulomas are most prominently
located in the lung, though they can also be found throughout various parts of the body, often due to
prolonged infection. The inflammation in granulomas, is a cell mediated hypersensitive reaction to
persistent micro bacteria, often found in pulmonary infections, whether it be a fungal, bacterial,
parasitic or mycobacterial infection. Most commonly, granulomatous tissue is found to be associated

The granulomas associated with tuberculosis are both necrotising and non necrotising. The
involvement with lung parenchyma leads to; peribronical, perivascular, interstitial and alveolar

developing a dense fibrous capsule, or can undergo liquefaction and cavitation. Cavitation of the
liquefactive exudate releases into an airway in is evacuated. The exudate released from these
developments can occasionally develop into a granulomatous tuberculosis pneumonia.
Though there are various forms of mature granulomas and different causes for development, the key
feature of the inflammatory masses is characterised by the primary cell types involved. This includes;
foamy cells, uninfected epithelioid macrophages, giant multinucleated cells and CD4+ T cells (T

Case Woods V. Kansas
Defendant Hankins filed a motion to correct an illegal sentence on appeal after pleading guilty to
felony charges because he argued a Kansas trial court wrongfully considered a deferred judgment
from Oklahoma in his sentencing calculation. The State argued that Kansas law required such deferred
judgments from other states to be included in sentencing determinations. The Supreme Court of
Kansas disagreed with the Court of Appeals dismissal of Hankins motion, finding that there was a
discrepancy between Kansas and Oklahoma s statutory standards for an entry of a judgment of guilt.
Under Kansas law, the Court concluded, a conviction requires a judgment of guilt. However, under
Oklahoma law, an entry of judgment will not be entered for an offender who successfully completes a
deferred judgment. The initial conditions are to be imposed without entering a judgment of guilt.

most of us had ever been on a boat. Time seemed to crawl on, until suddenly the white folk wanted us

Once we were all gathered up deck, some of the white folk began playing some music on drums. The
seemingly leader of the white folk encouraged us to dance. It was humiliating. They jeered and
laughed at us, as if we were animals at a circus, not only that but they mocked our culture and music.
A young girl at the very edge of the crowd began shifting, little by little towards the edge of the boat. I

A Summary Of The Ponca Tribe
Great Plains tribes share a history of events in the late 19th century. This essay focuses on the Ponca
tribe and the trial of Standing Bear, one of their chiefs. Other tribes experienced similar incidents of
callous disregard for legal rights and struggles to accept their fate of losing their tribal lands and
relocating to Indian Territory that barely sustained the people and shattered tribal customs and
practices. It is also a story of help provided by white Americans to resolve conflicts and restore the
Ponca to their rightful land (Brennan, Authors Note). The travails of the Ponca tribe are typical of 19th
century U.S. Indian relations experienced by Native Americans.
Discussion
The Ponca Story The Ponca signed several treaties with the United States after a 1817 peace treaty: a
trade agreement in 1825 and land cession in 1858 and 1865 to ensure military protection and
economic assistance. In the 1860s and 1870s, the Ponca almost starved after droughts, unproductive
bison hunts and constant threats to the Ponca by the Sioux threatened their existence. Rather than
honor treaty obligations, the U.S. gave Ponca land to the Sioux in 1868 that included all of Dakota
Territory (van de Logt). In 1877, Indian tribes, including the Ponca, were ordered to move to Indian
Territory in the south. After ten chiefs visited the new location and found the situation unsustainable
for farming or grazing, eight walked back and stopped at the Otoe and Omaha reservations. A letter

The War in Kashmir
Culture can be defined as learned patterns of perception, values, and behaviours, shared by a group of
people, that are dynamic and heterogeneous (Martin Nakayama, pg 32). The purpose of this paper is to
present research on a conflict involving different cultural groups. The paper will integrate library
research as well as focus on two specific aspects of conflict for my research. Those aspects will be; the
history of the relationships between cultural groups and culture conceptions of women. The war in
Kashmir is the cultural conflict I have chosen to research.
Kashmir is located between the nations of India and Pakistan, for which these two nations share
cultural and historical connections. Which neither historical links have helped in contribution to a
solid resolution between these two countries. Like Kashmir, India and Pakistan are home to various

are so closely linked there are specific differences such as Muslims, who follow the belief of Islam,

views towards reincarnation.

Gun control is one of the most important issues debated worldwide, but most importantly in the

A recent event that dealt with gun control regulation is the Sandy Hook Shooting where the tragic
massacre in Newton, Conn. killed twenty children and eight adults including himself. I argue this
event, because it gave me prove for the need for more gun control.

In a current review they have found that, instead of being utilized for self protection, firearms in the

A mistake that was made when the Second Amendment was made is that they gave people the right to

Although many countries are changing their way of political movements there is still totalitarianism in

according to Quora. This can be seen in the quoted words, Man serves the interest of no creature

It is factual that effective communication skills and competency are needed upon achieving a
profession as a nurse. Upon first greeting a patient the distinctive level of communication is apparent.
Communication has two core factors, non verbal and verbal. Both types of communication will be
implemented on a regular basis as I interact with patients in my nursing career. It will be vital for me
to attain an increased and developed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I now understand that spirituality represents for numerous people a critical element that solidifies their
belief in God. Showcasing spirituality through common practices, via good service to others, passing
on wisdom, or showing compassion, usually brings deep intimate satisfactions. From my reading and
comprehension, as I will concentrate on creating a secure, wholesome and warm environment for the
patients in my care. I understand that the nurses function is to feel and capture the imbalance that is
present, and to get rid of the barricades in the patients recovery process. Spiritual care should be a
positive and delicate approach, on the basis of trust and a terrific comfortable relationship between the
patient and nurse in an effort to deliver quality care.
Holistic care focuses on the emotional, physical, economic, social and spiritual needs of individual
people. Patient care has an important goal which is obtaining and maintaining the equality between
mind, body and environment, as this balance is important for a fulfilling life.
In closing, this textbook has fundamentally taught me that Nurses play an important role in the health
care profession helping and caring for individuals, or whole families and it has many important
elements which are needed to ensure a great quality of

Why I Am The Mediator-Personal Narrative
A disgruntled African American, well into his 40 s walking and takes a seat next to the prosecutor. He
stands at about 6 feet tall, this, with dreadlocks and wearing glasses. He clears his throat as the
plaintiff enters the room. The plaintiff, with a more medium build and shorter, shows a half
uncomfortable smile. He takes his seat along the other side of the prosecutor. Alright gentlemen, you
understand that I am not a mediator, I am the prosecutor. However, because Mr. Jones was late and the
mediator left for the day, I will take on the process. Are we in understanding in the role I m taking,
sitting in front of you today? With her soft spoken voice, almost as a whisper, she waits for a response
from each man. They both nod their heads ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

going on in there. Men coming in and out of a daycare, c mon, that does not fly with me man. Those
are my daughters in there. The mother of my daughters work at Mr. Jones daycare; we were in
communication and she would tell me to pick her up a block away from the place being sneaky. But
her and I are no longer together. So, that s over with. Mr. Smith sits quietly, his hands in his pockets of
a bubble fluff black jacket and his mouth almost lost in the turtle neck he had on. He listened
attentively, with the occasional smirk and nodding the head no. I have no problem with Mr. Jones, Mr.
Smith continues, today is my first time meeting this man. But, if my daughters are in that school, I

Sexual Orientation Is The Dominant, Or Normal, Sexual, And...
Introduction
Sexual orientationism is best described as discrimination or prejudice against homosexuals on the
assumption that heterosexuality is the dominant, or normal, sexual orientation. Within society there
are many barriers, assumptions, and stigmas placed upon the queer community, numerous of which
steam from this heterosexist stance that has become the dominant ideology. This stance has historical
significance in trauma, and oppression of those within the sexual minority, and how this can play on
representation.
Social Location
Because sexual orientationism, or homophobia, is something that is unconsciously encouraged since
our youth by the media and its lack of representation of the queer community, there is often a lot of
work that has to be done internally in order to understand and accept homosexuality, regardless of
whether you identify with or simply wish to be an ally. My understanding of my privilege or
oppression with sexual orientation comes from many years of internally restructuring my own
understanding of societal norms. I had a much easier time of accepting the community from my
mother who was always there to encourage my acceptance, and growth not only of, but within the
community. As an individual who identifies as a pansexual male, my deconstruction of what was
proposed as the norm, and reconciling that with my own understanding of what I felt inside to be true
was fairly straight forward, but no less substantial. However, I do recognize my own

Robotic Surgery Pros And Cons
Since its inception, Americans have tried to improve the nation by creating legislature, waging wars,
or inventing new things. Most of the developments in the twenty first century were detrimental,
because of this the American nation is on a negative course towards a collapse
Despite the detrimental use of mankind s creative ability, many advances and positive innovations
were produced. One field especially impacted in the 2000 s was new technology in the medical care.
New technology helps improve lives and in the medical field can even help save lives. An example of
a lifesaving technology is robotic surgery. Robot assisted minimally invasive surgery was a new form

In 2014 the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries, or OPEC decided to lower the oil price.
The reason the OPEC nations decided to overproduce and flood the market was to strangle the oil

compete and therefore income would be reduced. The OPEC nations would have a majority of control

A Quick History Of Abortion Pills
A quick history of abortion pills and how they came to be comes from WebMD. The top drug used for
abortions is mifepristone also known as RU 486. Testing of the drug began in 1983 when the FDA
issued a permit. Jan. 1993 President Clinton asked for the FDA to reconsider their import ban. In 1994
1995 the Population Council the U.S. patent rights for mifepristone, and clinical trials began. In
September 1996 the FDA issued an approval for RU 486 to be used as a safe alternative to surgical
abortion, but they also said, they wanted more information on how the drug was manufactured and
labeled before they could make their final decision. On September 28, 2000 the FDA approved RU
486 as a method for early medical abortion.
Mifepristone can be used till the eighth week of pregnancy. The woman is required to go to at least
three doctor office appointments during the treatment. The drug is taken by mouth usually once unless
directed differently by the woman s doctor. The woman has to take misoprostol within forty eight
hours of taking the mifepristone (RU 486).
Some side effects of these drugs are nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, weakness, and/or dizziness. If the side
effects continue after the first 24 hours, medical attention is required because there can be serious
medical problems. Bleeding and severe cramps are expected during the process. Bleeding and spotting
may last for more than the next 30 days. Sometimes, the bleeding has needed to be stopped by surgery.

Oscar Wilde Satire
Oscar Wilde s play An Ideal Husband (1893) is of a genre that is unlikely to ever fade out; the
dramatic comedy. Wilde utilises melodramatic language to explore several heavy subjects such as
compassion and empathy but there is no doubting that the play is of the romantic comedy genre. And
this is concreted by the fact that this is a play that not only comments on society but makes comedy of
people s faults and bad habits via the employment of the comedic conventions satire. Oscar Wilde
effectively blends these comedic devices into the play s melodramatic drawing room comedy , which
traditionally features upper class people in social and family situations of which Wilde was considered
a master, to provoke thought on different societal subjects ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mabel epitomises the supposed silliness and frivolity that a young Victorian girl would have and this
is further encouraged by Wilde s use of epigram and absurdity in the line Oh, I love London Society! I
think it has immensely improved. It is entirely composed now of beautiful idiots and brilliant lunatics.
Just what Society should be. showing the shallow and flamboyant nature of Mabel s character to
reflect to typical young woman in Victorian society. Farce can be further seen by the interaction
between Lady Basildon and Mrs Marchmont who are described as types of exquisite beauty . The
lines (Lady Basildon) What martyrs we are, dear Margaret. (Mrs Marchmont). [Rising.] And how well
it becomes us, Olivia! Utilises hyperbole to show their frivolity and silliness to highlight their
situation within the gender norms. Their willingness to suffer conversation with boring men makes
them more attractive and also shows how women were forced to settle for men they may not
particularly like. This comment is then further driven by Wilde via Lord Goring s epigram if we men
married the women we deserved, we should have a very bad time of it highlighting the inequality
between the sexes in terms of

Master Filmaker Akira Kurosawa
I believed at the time that for Japan to recover, it was important to place a high value on the self. I still
believe this. Akira Kurosawa
As the first Japanese film director with international notoriety, Akira Kurosawa had a reputation as an
artist and scholar that was tremendously admired. In addition he had remarkable stylistic influence on
international filmmaking. Many who are interested in films or filmmaking are deeply impressed by the
level of Kurosawa s vision and his numerous film achievements. Also, the universal themes of ethics;
and the humanism of Akira Kurosawa s films made him a fantastic representation of Japan s cultural
reshaping post World War II. Mr. Kurosawa s work is not confined by politics, age, or ... Show more

Yet, the essential messages are global and universal. Within the borders of his films the viewer will
find man s struggle for fulfillment and self perfection and the conflicts of good and evil. These are the
foundation of this man s films. Kurosawa continually revisited these themes that are familiar to all of
us. As a recognized master of film technique and storyteller for all peoples, Kurosawa stands apart
from other Japanese filmmakers. Although these films were made for the Japanese audiences, his
works have attained international notoriety and admiration. This has reinforced Kurosawa a master
artist and philosopher. Two major films by Kurosawa are Ikiru and Seven Samurai the films were
made back to back in 1952 and 1954, both appear on many critics lists of 10 or 20 finest films of all
time. Though made by the same director and nearly the same time, the works are thoroughly different.
Ikiru is a modern drama, an existential portrait of a single, unimportant, office worker facing death
and obsessed with a purpose to give meaning to his life. Seven Samurai is an epic of tremendous
sweep, with a huge cast of heroic characters wedged into action of enormous scope. When it was
made, it nearly broke its production company and thoroughly exhausted its crew and actors. But still
Seven Samurai offers many life lessons in addition to modern action film

Thanksgiving Conflict Essay
With six people living in a small house conflicts do arise. Things like who is using all the hot water,
eating the last of the leftovers, and fighting for a spot to sit in front of the television. The one conflict
that seems to stand out the most was an argument over sugared cereal. Earlier that day Grandma was
up from Oregon and she left the house a box of Frosted Flakes. The box of cereal that my grandma
gave us wasn t even full, but I called at least one bowl. My older sister Danielle was bent on getting
some cereal, and sure enough, she ate the rest of the box. She was on her third bowl and my siblings
came up and called her out for it and it morphed into an aggressive and tense argument. While they
were arguing I looked into the bowl and there were a bunch of tiny black ants floating in her cereal
bowl. They were helplessly drowning in a bowl of sugar and milk. Danielle freaked out, and that was
that. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

justified in her mind, she munched down three bowls of cereal, unknowingly with ants. Maybe my
story is closer to the truth, maybe hers is, maybe both of the stories are just garbage skewed by time
and apathy. Either way this was not a meaningful life experience, but I could not think of a truly life
changing experience that would make sense in a college

Analysis Of Titus Andronicus During The Spanish War Of...
Titus Andronicus during the Spanish War of Succession In 2000, Julie Taymor restaged Shakespeare s
Titus Andronicus, mixing it with World War II era culture. By taking one of Shakespeare s goriest
tragedies and combining it with one of the most devastating moments in history, Taymor provides a
new perspective on the play, in particular the universality of its conflicts. These conflicts are not only
elevant at the end of the sixteenth century when Shakespeare wrote Titus Andronicus, but they are also
suitable for the 1940s during World War II. By making a statement on how tenuous relationships
between people and countries can be at different points in time, Taymor demonstrated the
pervasiveness of the conflicts presented in this play. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a result, France, Bavaria, and Austria offered their heirs as the future Spanish monarch, similar to
how Saturninus, Bassianus, and Titus are all up for the Roman Empire in the play. Being the sons of
the previous emperor, Saturninus and Bassianus cite their relations to him as the reason they should
rule, and comparatively the heirs of France and Austria were also distantly related to King Charles II.
As Saturninus states, plead my successive title with your swords. / I am his first born son (1.1 5 6).
Generally in Rome, succession was hereditary; however, if the candidate was considered unsuitable,
the succession decision was left to the public. Being the eldest son of the late emperor should be
Saturninus s claim to rule, but he nonetheless is met with resistance from the people. Likewise, Philip
of Anjou, grandson of the French monarch and heir to the French monarchy, was named successor to
the Spanish throne by King Charles II, but other countries feared that this would lead to the unification
of Spain and France as one country. Accordingly, Philip too was then met with resistance despite his
right to the throne. Then there is Bassianus, who points out his ancestry as well by saying if ever
Bassianus, Caesar s son / Were gracious in the eyes of Royal Rome and calls for the public to place
him on the throne in the name of virtue and honor (1.1 10 11). While he too has a

Essay on Moral Dilemma
Moral Dilemma
Everyday we are tested as individuals to make the right choice. How we view ourselves as individuals
and how others view us are directly correlated to our moral decision making. But morals are
somewhat misleading. What might be a wrong decision for one person might be a solution to another.
So how do we define morals? Do we follow Gods moral rules because to do so would increase out
likelihood of obtaining salvation in the afterlife? Or is it simpler than that. Is God going to deny our
entrance into heaven because we have run a stop sign here and there? No. I believe our moral values
are much simpler than that. I believe that our moral decision making comes from our upbringing of
what is right or wrong. Our parents and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was about 13 degrees out and the sun had just started to peek over the mountains behind our house.
It was a magnificent morning. It was one of those crisp, cold mornings with no wind and I could hear
for miles and miles. I remember hearing my neighbor s dog, Orvis, barking two miles away. I kept
walking for about a quarter mile until I came upon a field that was always a hot spot for deer in the
morning. It was an exciting feeling to be out in the woods with the deer, yet at the same time, a
terrifying feeling. Was I going to fail yet another year of not bagging my buck? I was anxious as to
what my family and friends would think of me. I needed to get a deer in the worst way.
As the morning wore on I began to get anxious and fidgety feeling that no deer were going to come.
As I was contemplating whether to leave my stand in the field, I recognized two deer grazing
peacefully in the middle of the field. I quickly pulled up and looked through my scope and saw
nothing but green fuzz. I was so nervous that I had forgotten to readjust the focus on my scope. As I
did, the deer saw me move and began to trot away from me and into the protection of the forest. I
managed to get my scope in focus in time to see that there was a buck and a doe. My chance had
finally come. I was going to get my first Vermont buck. I immediately stood up from my stand and
jogged over to where they had entered the woods. Once in the woods, I evaluated the surroundings

Specifically, what about this author piqued your interest? My interest in Tennessee Williams was piqued after reading his biography. From being called a sissy by neighborhood kids, and Miss Nancy by my father, because I would rather read books in my grandfather s large and classical library than play marbles and baseball and other normal kid games, a result of a severe childhood illness and of excessive attachment to the female members of my family, who had coaxed me back into ... The first case of resistance mediated by OXA 48 was identified in 2001 from a multi drug resistant Klebsiella pneumonae in Istanbul Turkey (Aktaş et al., 2008). Followed by several cases of OXA 48 producing organisms like pseudomonas, E.coli and citrobacter were reported in patients from or have a relation with Turkey (Livermore and Woodford, 2006). • 11. Justice And Justice In Just Mercy, By Bryan Stevenson In the novel, Just Mercy, by Bryan Stevenson, it is extremely apparent that there is a link between poverty, wealth, injustice, and justice. This book incorporates a strong theme of poverty and how it relates to justice, as well as injustice. Furthermore, it very apparently works to explain and provide examples of problems within the justice system, and the urgency that these be corrected. One major problem being poverty in relation to obtaining justice. This being said, throughout my personal reading of the book, I have come to agree with Stevenson s statement, the opposite of poverty is not wealth; the opposite of poverty is justice (Stevenson 18). Walter McMillian, a man falsely convicted for a crime, experienced an immense amount of injustices originally fueled from his race and societal status. I felt the need to explain to people what Walter had taught me. Walter made me understand why we have to reform a system of criminal justice that continues to treat people better if they are rich and guilty than if they are poor and innocent. A system that denies the poor the legal help they need, that makes wealth and status more important than culpability, must be changed. (Stevenson 313) What I have interpreted this as, is the court system is trying to get through these things as quickly as possible, as well as try to convict someone as quickly as possible to give the community a sense of reassurance that a murderer is off the streets. Furthermore, if the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. Generosity In The Shawshank Redemption Andy is a man that is in complete contrast to the brutal prison, he spreads his positive views onto the other prisoners, especially Red. In the film The Shawshank redemption, the director Frank Darabont displays that through the contrasts in Andy and Red s characters that Andy is able to save himself and Red from certain institutionalisation. Andy also achieves this through the display of generosity verses the brutality the prisoners undergo in Shawshank. Andy is ultimately able to save Red and commit Red to a lifetime of freedom rather then imprisonment and institutionalisation. Guilt and innocence is a seemingly binary thing, either you are guilty or you are innocent, but that is not the case with Andy Dufresne. Andy states that he was previously innocent but is forced to change his was and commit crimes to survive the harshness of prison, this is displayed when Andy says The funny thing ... Through the cracks of brutality comes friendship. Red gives various gifts to Andy but the gift that shows Red s generosity in their friendship is the gift of rocks. Not only does Andy s generosity and kindness just rub off on Red by it also spreads to the rest of the gang as they want to help Andy too. This is communicated to the audience when Red says to the rest of the gang The man likes to play chess; let s get him some rocks . • 13. The Importance Of The French-English Relations In Canada English and French Canadians have had one of the most complicated and intriguing relationships throughout all of history. Even though they share the prosperous country of Canada, they could not be more divided as a nation. Factors such as language, culture and political beliefs have separated these two vast majority of Canadians for a very long time. Throughout the last century, French English relations have slightly improved over time, yet there is still an unstable peace between the two peoples. This will be clearly demonstrated throughout this essay, which will explore three critical time periods that changed French English relations in Canada. Between the years 1914 and 1929, relations amongst the English and the French are shown to be very unstable and unpleasant, due to the events which occurred in that timeframe. Later on between the years 1930 and 1945, relations improved slightly because much was learned from the previous time period. In the years after, the unstable peace and division between French and English Canada, even to this day, was established. In the years between 1914 and 1929, relations between French and English Canada were shown to be very unpleasant, due to events which occurred throughout the time frame. To begin with, the conscription crisis of 1917 brought upon hostility and division between French and English Canada. • 14. Raiders Of The Lost Ark Film Analysis Essay Raiders of the Lost Ark The film Raiders of the Lost Ark was directed by Steven Spielberg in 1981. It is the first film in a series of films that follow the adventures of archaeologist and professor Indiana Jones. Some proclaim the Raiders of the Lost Ark is one of the best action/adventure movies of all time. Since its release, the film has grossed $389 million worldwide and is ranked #40 on the top rated movies list on IMDB. Mise en Scene: Raiders of the lost Ark takes place in 1936. When comes down to the settings, lighting, music, costumes and the way everyone acts in this film, everything works together to get an overall feel that the time really is the 1936. The costumes look like outfits people would really wear during that time and the music sounds right for that era. In the very beginning of the film, viewers see Indiana Jones walking through the jungle with some men. Although his face is not shown for the first couple of minutes you can tell that the man in the fedora is an important character. It s never specifically mentioned that it is a jungle but there are animal noises and plants in the background. Also, the lighting looks natural almost as if the sun is shining through a thick canopy of trees. All the men look a little tired and their faces and clothes look dirty. From the way the music sounds and the way they all look you can tell that they are on some kind of quest, searching for something for what seems like a while. One of the best scenes in the ... IV therapy can be very effective (Hyde 2002 p42) but it also carries the greatest risk of any administration route. Amoore Adamson (2003 p45) maintain that the safe administration of IV therapy requires the nurse to be skilled and knowledgeable in the use of the equipment, and to prevent any adverse incidents nurses must have up to date knowledge of the associated risks. The story takes place in a not so distant future where today s world no longer exists due to an unknown catastrophe. The only human is a man who calls himself the Abominable Snowman or Snowman for short, but in his childhood days his name was Jimmy. If the thought of being all alone in the world is not uneasy enough, Atwood takes this opportunity to point out the flaws of the modern world through Snowman s reminiscing about Jimmy s childhood. Atwood shines light on the situation by stating one of the main reasons human trafficking occurs is because there was only so much food to go around (Atwood 117). In a world with so much why do young children and families with so little have to suffer? Why must these girls come to peace with the images they have seen? Why must families justify the sales of their daughters by stating In the village it was not called selling, this transaction. The talk about it implied apprenticeship. An honest living that involves a girl not yet a teenage to undress in front of a man multiple times her age in exchange for money (Atwood 131). It does not have to be that way. Atwood makes that clear. If the root of the problem is there is not enough food for the children to survive there is a simple solution. I will also look at how the relationship between these two terms has become distorted and blurred over time. In order to reinforce what I am saying about popular and high culture I will be using a range of examples from the music industry to show how the line between high culture and popular culture has become ambiguous. I will also call upon the work of John Storey to give my work an academic foundation. In either case, a creature is put into an environment unnatural to her disposition, yet in Flaubert s example, Emma shares the world we inhabit, and thus the message her story brings is much more pertinent. From those foppish texts she gathers the impression that ladies such as she should be lolling on carriages or dreaming on sofas, or perhaps embracing some dashing young man in a short cloak (Flaubert 32). Yet such is not the reality in which she lives. Flaubert adds to his stark images the homey atmospheres and settings of the provincial towns in which Emma lives, places which by their very simplistic natures are anathema to a romantic such as Bovary. It is only through Emma s depiction of these villages that they are cast as mundane and drab. Though the image exists of the small and backward town with its town gossips and town idiot, it can be seen that it is simply a town, one in which a person can be content that is, if she is not the always unfulfilled Emma Bovary. It is also a story of help provided by white Americans to resolve conflicts and restore the Ponca to their rightful land (Brennan, Authors Note). The travails of the Ponca tribe are typical of 19th century U.S. Indian relations experienced by Native Americans. • 36. The War in Kashmir Culture can be defined as learned patterns of perception, values, and behaviours, shared by a group of people, that are dynamic and heterogeneous (Martin Nakayama, pg 32). The purpose of this paper is to present research on a conflict involving different cultural groups. The paper will integrate library research as well as focus on two specific aspects of conflict for my research. Those aspects will be; the history of the relationships between cultural groups and culture conceptions of women. The war in Kashmir is the cultural conflict I have chosen to research. Kashmir is located between the nations of India and Pakistan, for which these two nations share cultural and historical connections. Which neither historical links have helped in contribution to a solid resolution between these two countries. Like Kashmir, India and Pakistan are home to various cultural groups such as Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, Christian and Sikh. However certain cultures over shadow others; India is dominantly Hindu while Pakistan is dominantly Muslim. While both cultures are so closely linked there are specific differences such as Muslims, who follow the belief of Islam, believe in a monotheistic god and a possible judgement day, while Hindu faith is polytheistic and has views towards reincarnation. While historically the conflict within Kashmir is one of territory and not cultural, Pakistan has recently used their religion, primarily the notion of a Jihad, holy war, to justify their ... Although, the greed for power and much more take place quite quickly. Introduction Sexual orientationism is best described as discrimination or prejudice against homosexuals on the assumption that heterosexuality is the dominant, or normal, sexual orientation. Within society there are many barriers, assumptions, and stigmas placed upon the queer community, numerous of which steam from this heterosexist stance that has become the dominant ideology. This stance has historical significance in trauma, and oppression of those within the sexual minority, and how this can play on representation. Social Location Because sexual orientationism, or homophobia, is something that is unconsciously encouraged since our youth by the media and its lack of representation of the queer community, there is often a lot of work that has to be done internally in order to understand and accept homosexuality, regardless of whether you identify with or simply wish to be an ally.
