2. Is to make a magazine that is a mix of J-pop, K-pop, gaming, comics,
films, charts and recommendations.
Therefore it’s a hybrid magazine – this is so that it appeals to a
wider audience – some will enjoy certain aspects of the magazine .
My Idea
4. Ages from 13-20
Appeals to all genders
Full-time or part-time education, possibly workers –
I don’t want to stereotype a group of people and
certain people outside the age range or aren’t in
education might enjoy this magazine.
Media interests – Music, films, gaming, comics and
fiction.
Buying interests – CDs, music, games, films comics.
I want the people who view this magazine to be able
to connect with other people over shared interests,
I want to appeal to the audience with things such as
reviews, top tens and interviews with artists.
Audience
5. The magazine will use some generic conventions
from both K-pop and J-pop magazines (e.g. the
cover articles don’t obstruct the central image)
I want to use colours that contrast well such as
white and red, but I also want to use some bright,
bold fonts as well.
Mode of Address – Informal - no swearing.
Images – Bright and interesting, mainly of the
artists featured in the magazine, possibly along
with some quotes from them. I want to utilise the
effects of lighting in my images.
Description
An example of how the
cover lines don’t obstruct
the central image.
6. Games – Reviews, new releases, top ten and
recommendations
Music – Mainly a mixture of K-pop and J-pop, but
could include some indie bands and cover artists –
also with interviews with bands and artists.
Films – Reviews, new releases , recommendations,
top ten and latest information on films coming on.
Comics/Manga – Recommendations, interviews and
synopsis’s of new releases.
Series’ – Such as drama, anime, romance etc.. – the
latest updates and behind the scenes.
What my Magazine will Cover
7. My double page spread will feature an interview
with an artist – it could be a relatively unknown
artist so that they get promotion or it could be a well
known artist so that more people read it because
they know who it is and are more likely to read it.
I want to make sure it follows the generic
conventions of other magazines double page
spreads.
I could also put in some other things – such as an
editors note or a few mini articles that aren’t the
main feature of the DPS.
Double Page Article
8. There aren’t many institutions that would publish a
hybrid magazine like this but I have found these two
institutions who might be interested in publishing a
magazine like mine.
Imagine Publishing – Has published magazines with
genres such as design, tutorial, gaming, crime and
science. I think that because my magazine
incorporates some of these genres it’ll be more
likely that they’ll publish my magazine.
Future Publishing – Has published with gaming,
music, film, games, technology and photography. I
think that because of the diverseness in the genres
and individual magazines they publish that they
would probably be more likely to publish my
magazine than Imagine Publisher.
