Introduction
• Human resource is the most precious resource for any
organization. Recruitment of right person on the board of a
company is indispensable for success of the organization.
• Human resources solution providers consist of dedicated

HISTORY OF CONSULTANTS
Recruiting began with the military and dates all the way back to ancient
Egypt, Greece and Rome.
HR in India
• Starting from independence until the mid 70s was purely transactional and
focused on industrial relations.
• From the 70s, the focus shifted to personnel management and this continued
until the early 90s.
• HR, as a function, evolved post liberalization era when global business standards
were introduced and the competition for talent intensified.
• The HR buyer began to look keenly into recruitment services to gain access to a
larger pool of quality talent.

In India, recruitment services started about 20 years back when the economy got
liberalized and there was a sudden Hike in the demand for talent.
