2. Preliminary Planning Task One
I feel like we handled this task well as we agreed on ideas very
quickly and all contributed to different parts of the task. I
came up with the name of ‘DJ EJ’ as it was all of our first name
initials. At the time I felt this was a good name as it showed
our group style, however now looking back I feel we could have
spent more time on deciding a better name for our radio
programme. This is what I will improve for the future to make
sure the main task has more time spent on individual things
such as the name.
3. Preliminary Planning Task Two
This task was done well as it was a simple task that didn’t take
too long. We decided the roles quite quickly as we all chose
something that we thought we’d be good at. For example I am
a shy person so therefore didn’t really want to be the presenter
or the guest.
Getting archive clips was a very fast process as we picked the
first ones that suited our show, we could have spent more time
on choosing them as we could have got ones that related even
more to the kind of radio station we were doing.
4. Using Audition
Using Audition was a good task as we got to use new software
which meant we needed some guidance. I got to grips with
using audition quickly which made this task a lot easier than it
could have been. I feel we didn’t have enough times to be 100%
confident on using this software.
5. Creating a Jingle
Creating my jingle was easy enough, however I don’t think I
had enough time to make my jingle as good as I would have
liked it to be.
Once me and my group had decided on a jingle, we used the
tune that was already on the jingle however we edited it so the
voice was different because before we changed it, the voice
was boring and didn’t match the style of the radio station. This
didn’t take too long as we knew what needed to be done, it
was just a case of editing and importing it to the full radio
programme.
6. Recording in the Studio
I feel as though nothing went wrong in this task as we had a
tutorial on how to use the software and once we knew how to
record and save, it was simple enough to record the whole
thing in one run.
The only thing that went slightly wrong is that we didn’t leave
enough time in between some of the parts of speech for the
sound effects. This meant that we had to cut the recording
when it was on the computer to be able to fit all of the sound
effects in at the correct time.
7. Recording using a Dictaphone
Using the dictaphone was a very simple process. We used the
dictaphone very quickly to record things we needed for the
show, however we lost our work once which meant that we had
to redo one of our recordings.
We went to different places to record other people’s voices
which meant taking the dictaphone to different areas of
college. They are very easy to transport which made this task
easy. Uploading the dictaphone recordings involved simply
plugging in the dictaphone and copying and pasting our
recordings.
8. Team Work
I feel as though there was nothing wrong with our team working
skills, this is because we worked together and communicated as
a team. We all took on our different roles and did our part for
the team by carrying out our roles.
9. Blogging
My blog went well, this is because I kept up to date with
everything and did most things when they were set to do. I
kept on top of my blog work which meant that all of the dates
of uploading are continuous and there are no big gaps of no
work completed and no small gaps of me uploading lots of
things at once. I feel it was important to keep my blog up to
date as it shows that I am organised and using my time wisely
to do the work.
10. Individual Contribution to the Team
I feel as though my team contribution was ok. I did everything I
needed to do for the team to make sure that everything was
done to the best of my ability.
However I did sometimes feel that I didn’t do as much as some
of the others in my group. I would improve this next time by
volunteering to do a couple more things and get involved more.
11. Class Work
In class we mainly did the main task which meant that
everything done in class was something that could only be done
in class or the things that had to be done with the team. Me
and my team generally did the class work the day that it was
set to make sure we didn’t have to cram a lot of work in just
before the deadline. I feel we approached the class work in the
right way because once we quickly got it done we didn’t have
to rush getting it done.
12. Independent Work
I personally didn’t do lots of work at home as most of what was
needed to be done was done in lesson. The work that I did do
at home was updating my blog with things such as progress
updates of what we had done in the lesson etc.
There were a couple of youtube issues that needed to be done
at home such as uploading my videos and making the youtube
account. Other than these very few issues, I feel that there was
nothing wrong with doing limited work at home as long as I got
it all completed for my team.
