Self-Evaluation
Pre-Production
What Went Well:
Throughout the whole of pre-production we all had our designated roles, our manager gave
us all designated role s on what we are doing and what we need to get on with, I was told to
become the co-manager so I was able to help our group with things that the manager may
of needed help with. Because we all our own work to do we were able to finish the post-
production as soon as possible, we all gave each other deadlines on when to complete
certain tasks, Because we all worked individually we done a lot more work than working all
together, when one person completed a task I would go over and look over their work to
see what improvements they can make to produce the best work they can. As I have done
media before and made a horror movie I have more experience when creating the pre-
production so I was able to help my group and tell them things they should know, this was
good because other groups didn’t have the experience when working on production as
much as I did, this allowed us to Finnish the pre-production way more quicker than most of
the other groups. Having this experience in media allowed me to look over my old work and
to get more ideas on how we should improve our work and what things to include. Because
we completed our pre-production with time to spare it gave us the opportunity to make our
work the best it could be with making all of our work so detailed so we can get the top
grades. Overall some of the hardest tasks where done my me and another member because
I feel that because I had more experience with pre-production I should do the more
advanced tasks to get the best marks.
Improvements:
In the pre-production I feel that I could have made improvements such as working harder
and taking more time in my work, at some tasks I rushed my work and when I looked back
on it there were a lot of mistakes and things that may need to be improved. Some tasks
went over the deadline and this ended up on some of us leaving the work we were doing to
help the other members of our group with their work so we ended up having two tasks
behind the deadline. I feel that because I was the co-managers and sorting out most of the
work for our group that I should have been a bit stricter with the deadlines and the tasks
because sometimes people may of messed around so we couldn’t finish all of our work in
time. Sometimes of a member was struggling with a task I would often go and help them
and this mean I was abandoning my task so we don’t get all the work done in time, but
overall because the task went over the deadline I knew we put as much work as we could of
into the task.

Production
What Went Well:
Throughout the production I made sure all of the filming ran as smoothly as possible and we
tried to use as much time as we could daily on filming so we could move onto editing as
soon as possible, Firstly I felt that because I had past experience with filming and using
cameras it was very helpful for my group because we didn’t spend a lot of timing thinking on
how to work the camera. Using my past experience with filming really helped our group and
it allowed us to move on quicker to editing. I felt that we used a lot of good shots for all
different scenes to allow us to have as many options as possible for the final production. In
our group I gave everyone their designated tasks when in the filming process so everyone
ended up having something to do when we were filming, also we included everyone in the
music video so it gave everyone a chance to improve on something else other than being
behind the camera, also we tried to get everyone to have a go on the camera and filming,
this allowed us to improve on a different skill other than our designated role.
Improvements:
However not everything was right and ran smoothly in the production, there were some
things that I felt we could have improved if we put more time into filming. Firstly I felt that
we could have included more shots for certain scenes like the first scene where Eric meets
another girl, I say this because the shot we used lasted too long and we didn’t have another
shot of a close up or a different angle so we needed to use a shot from another clip and
zoom it in loosing quality of the clip but it improved the video quite a bit. We had to do the
exact same thing for another scene where both Eric and angelica are sitting together, the
stop lasted too long so we had to split the clip up and include more range of shots, this also
lost more quality but in the end it improved the music video. For next time we should
always look back on the footage we took because then we can see if we have made any
mistakes and I say this because in one shot we took there are two mistakes in one shot. In
this shot the door was open and you were able to see the tripod, it is not that noticeable but
I feel that we should look back on our shots to try and spot thing like this out, also in the
same shot one of our group members who is acting looks at the camera and that was the
best shot we had of this cut so we had to use it.
Post-Production
What Went Well:
Post production was all about us putting the work up and editing, because I had past
experience with editing our group had a bit of an advantage because I understood what we
had to do. We didn’t give our self a deadline because our teacher told us when we needed
to finish and over that time if we were running behind I told our group that if anyone had a
free lesson to go to media and do some editing so we can finish as quick as possible. The

software was not the same software we used last year so at some parts I was confused on
how to edit certain bits. I made sure that everyone had a word when editing so when
someone was saying something about what shot should be added we would look at it and
see if it should be used, everyone had a task in the editing process including on who should
write the editing decision list and I made sure that everyone had a go on editing so my other
members got a feel of what its like to edit. I made sure that everyone took part in editing
and that everyone got a word in the process.
Improvements:
For improvements I felt that we should of finished sooner and not made as many mistakes,
for parts we had to zoom into our clips so we had a more range of shots for the music video,
this lost quality for the final production but it was better because it added more to our
music video. I felt that we should of got our teacher to look over our work more because we
done all the editing our self and then got sir to look at it and this meant we had to improve
quite a bit and this waited time, I felt that at parts we rushed it because the deadline has
already came so we had to extend it. As an improvement I feel that we should have looked
in more depth on the different dissolves we could have used and the colours for each clip
because at some clips it looked more dull than the other. Some clips were dark and I feel
that we should have made them brighter but having it dark set more of a sad scene for our
music video. As we looked through our footage we found some continuity errors and I feel
that we should have looked over our clips after we filmthem so we can see if there were
any errors. Having these continuity errors made some parts of the music video seemless
professional. Because I already had experience with editing I was the one mainly editing and
I feel that I should of allowed my group to do more of the editing so they get more
experience with it for the future.
