Question 6.
1. Question 6: What have you learnt
about technologies from the process
of constructing thus product?
Hannah Mealor.
2. Photoshop.
To produce my front cover I used
a software called “Photoshop”
At first my skills on Photoshop were not very
complex, the skills I had to use Photoshop were
not strong enough at first to create the magazine
front cover I would need to get my target grade.
After having a go at it and using it for a few
lessons i started to learn new skills that helped me
to create my magazine front cover to its best
ability.
One of the hardest things I found was resizing
pictures so that they would fit on the page.
But after using it a few times I slowly got easier. This software was so helpful and allowed
me to use tools that made my pictures and whole magazine look a lot more affective. It also
helped with how many different fonts and fancy effects the software held. This made it
easier for my to pick the correct font and also for me to be able to make sure it was the
correct size, also the fact your could zoom into little details to crop or erase helped so I
didn't lose any imagery or text that would make even a tiny affect to my front cover.
3. Quark.
I used this software to create
my contents page and Double
page spread.
To start of with I found Quark very
difficult and didn't like it very much at
all, I found that this was because i had
never experienced a software like
quark before and therefore to learn all
the tools I had to use in the space of a
couple of weeks almost felt
impossible, but after starting and after
a week or so I started to realise that
the tools were very similar to the tools
on Photoshop and therefore gave me
the ability to produce a contents page and a DPS to the standard I needed to. The tools in
the end were easy to use and also the ability to put pictures and text in was easy. The one
thing I did find hard though was making the pictures i had taken fit the picture box i had
made on my page and this was very difficult as sometimes could be either slightly to small or
slight to big, and when trying to resize it can completely change it to a different size. But all
in all I thought Quark worked well for me.
4. Blogger.
I used this site to keep all
my work on so my
teacher could see it.
At first when I started using blogger I though
it was very complicated and unreliable
because of the fact it was on the internet
and not always retraceable if work was lost.
But after a couple of weeks of using it I got
the hang of it and found it a lot easier and
better than having to print everything out
and giving it in. It also turned out the site
was very reliable. Using blogger became like
a routine so not only was I saving all my
work on my system as a back up but if ever
lost I new it would be on
My blogger, so this was useful in case I deleted any documents. This also made it easier
because when having deadlines I could still go home and go onto my blogger to add the work
that had to be handed in. it also kept everything I did in the correct order so I didn't have to
date anything and when looking for a piece of work it would already be in the correct place
and date, this also made my work a lot more interesting and not all just page after page of
righting, you also had the same text tools as you would on the likes of word so it worked just
the same.
5. Video.
I used a video camera to video someone
filling in part of my question air analysis
I had never really used a video camera to
video anything before, so when first asked
to used one i found it kind of difficult an
had to re-do it a couple of times, but after
a while i figured out all the buttons and
was able to use this affectively. I found
this gave me a different way to show my
analysis and also gave me a different
affect so people could see that i had
chosen different people to full in my
question air.
6. Voice Recorder.
I used a voice recorder to answer some of
my evaluation questions and my
questionnaire analysis.
I had never used a voice recorder before so when
given this for the first time I didn't really no how to
work it, but after having a few tries before I did the
correct one i got the hang of it completely and it
was very hard at all. This made my evaluation look
a lot more affective and also my question air it was
very useful and very easy to use.
7. Premier pro.
I used Premier pro to help me with
some of my evaluation questions.
I had previously used this software
before in year 10, but with that being
3 years ago and knowing I hadn't used
it since I found this software very
confusing and at first looked like it was
a lot to handle. But after having a
small demonstration of how to use
it, it was all that hard after all, I was
able to use Premier to make some of
my evaluation questions a lot more
affective and more exciting to read.
Although I found almost everything
Easy to use, I didn't find saving it difficult to understand, as there were a lot of boxes were I
had to change stuff around and remembering how to do this after a small demonstration
was hard. But I had written most of the instructions down so I followed the instructions I
had and this made it a lot more easier for me to save after I had created each video. I
personally think premier pro and a huge affect on my work and made it a lot more
interesting.
8. Prezi.
I used Prezi to help me
present my work in
different ways.
When I was first told about Prezi i went
onto it and at first I got really frustrated
with it as I didn't no how to use any of the
tools and it was all set out difficultly. But
then after I had done one or two pieces of
my work on there it started to become a
lot clearer and easier to work. Prezi made
all my work a lot more fun and less boring
as you could chose all the colours and
shapes that you wanted to choose and you
Could also add any images. There were also many different ways in which you could set it
out and it had all different themes that you could choose from that worked well with what
you were righting about. The only thing i found hard with Prezi was adding the pictures
because sometimes they just wouldn't load, so then you would have to pick a different
one, but other than that I thought that Prezi worked well with my work and also made it a
lot more interesting.
9. Camera.
I used a camera to take all my
pictures for my front cover, contents
page and double page spread.
I had never really used a professional
camera at first, so when given the task
to take photos it was a lot harder than i
had originally expected. After having a
lesson to demonstrate and figure out
ourselves how to use the camera it all
became a lot easier and I was able to
use the buttons to a standard were my
photos were of good magazine quality. If I hadn't of took the correct photos with the
correct lens and angle shot, I would not of been able to get the correct photo’s for my
magazine. I also gained a lot of new skills and important information while using the
camera so that I was able to use it correctly, so it also helped me gain brand new skills.
The photos I ended up taking with the camera were at a standard that I was happy
with so I could use them on my front cover, contents page and double page spread.
