A Critique of the Proposed National Education Policy Reform

1. Task What went well What went
wrong
What I will do in the future
Preliminary
Planning Task
One – Radio
Station/show
names &
conventions and
Target Audience
planning
I think that many things
went well when it came to
planning out our radio
broadcast. First of all we
came up with many
different names which
could have fit into our
radio broadcast, second of
all we came up with
numerous ideas which
helped us get a good
broadcast in the end.
A few things I think
personally went wrong
when it came to planning
out our radio broadcast,
first of all I think that it was
quite hard when it came to
finding a suitable name to
fit the target audience for
out radio broadcast.
Another thing that went
wrong was we struggled
when it came to thinking
about the physcographics
and Maslow’s Hierarchy.
In the future I think that as a group we will
make we have an understanding of certain
names before we note them down, we will
think about the target audience and come
up with a name in which we all think suits.
Also I think that we will spend a little bit
more time planning it all out so we can get
the best possible ideas for our broadcast.
Preliminary
Planning Task
Two – Identifying
team roles,
sourcing examples
of archive clips,
flow chart of
broadcast
structure and
script writing
When we were identifying
team roles it wasn’t a
hassle because we all had
an idea of who we wanted
to be when we were asked
about it. I also think that
the archive clip went well
as well because we had
recorded on previously so
it was easier when it came
to putting the broadcast
together because we had
it ready and we didn’t
have to waste time finding
a clip or recording
something fresh. The
script writing went
smoothly because we all
contributed on Google
Documents which made
the process a lot quicker
and this gave us more
time to do other things. I
think the flow chart also
went smoothly because
we also did this on Google
Drive so it was quick but
also done as a team to a
high quality.
I personally think that
nothing major went wrong
when it came to the four or
five tasks we were set to
do as a group, this mainly
because we worked as a
team on the same
documents so we were all
contributing and working
quickly.
In the future I think that we will carry on
with what we did because I think the
process as a whole went very well and
there wasn’t much I think we could have
changed to make it better.
Creating a jingle
I think that finding the
sound clips to put into
my jingle was easy and
it wasn’t hard to
There were a number
of things that went
wrong when it came to
creating my jingle. It
was quite hard to get to
terms with the software
In the future I would make sure I had
a look and I got to terms with the
software before I started making
anything. Also I would make sure that
the jingle I made sounded like it was
more suitable for the target audience
2. download them and
import them into the
software in order to
create a jingle. I also
think that putting
everything together
was very easy and I
didn’t have any
problems when it came
to putting the clips in
order and making sure
they sounded alright.
in general and it was
hard when it came to
finding certain tools.
the broadcast was aimed at.
Using Audition
I think that once I was
used to all of the little
buttons that were on the
software I was
comfortable using it all
and it was quite easy to
put everything together.
Quite a lot went wrong at
the start of using the
software, as I said it was
quite hard to get used to
the little buttons around
me and I didn’t quite know
what to click if I needed
certain things.
If I were to do it next time I think that I
would watch some tutorials on the internet
if I ever needed anything that I didn’t quite
understand.
Recording in the
Studio
Recording in the studio
was quite easy, once we
was told about all of the
software and the
equipment we were using,
it was all quite easy
recording. I think that
when we were reading the
script into the microphone
it went really smooth and
nothing went wrong when
we got used to recording
through it.
When we were recording
for out broadcast, we
made a few mistakes so
we had to re-record a few
times to make sure it
sounded professional
enough for the broadcast.
Next time I think that we will make sure we
are composed enough not to make small
mistakes and make sure we don’t have to
re-record it numerous times in order to get
it right so we therefore have more time to
edit the broadcast over time.
3. Recording using
a Dictaphone
When we were recording
using a Dictaphone it was
very easy to get used to,
there wasn’t anything
major that we had to
overcome in order to use it
‘correctly’ so as a whole it
was easy to use and
record with.
I don’t think anything went
wrong when we were
using the Dictaphone, it all
went smoothly and it was
easy to use.
I don’t think I would change anything if we
were to make the broadcast again, the
Dictaphone sounded alright and it wasn’t a
grainy sound.
Editing using
Audition
When it came to the
editing on Adobe Audition
I don’t think it was very
hard once I was used to
everything on there. I was
very easy to drag clips
and get them to the
correct places on the
Multitrack and make them
sound good.
Again I don’t think much
went wrong when I was
editing my radio broadcast
simply because it was
easy enough to
understand and we knew
what to do.
I don’t think I would change anything if we
were to do it all again. The software was
easy enough to get to terms with and it all
went smoothly when we got used to it.
Team work
I think that as a team we
worked very well, we got
things done quickly and
effectively because we all
knew the jobs that we
were set out to do, as a
whole I think that
everything we did went
smoothly and everything
was done to a high
standard in the group.
I think that maybe as a
group, each individual
could have helped each
other a little bit more and
made sure everyone was
up to date with where they
needed to be.
I think that if we were to do it again I would
make sure that everyone was where they
needed to be and made sure they had
everything they needed in order for them to
achieve what they wanted.
4. Blogging
I think that it was easy to
upload new posts onto my
blog, when it came putting
a little text box underneath
the work it was easy to
find out how to do it and it
was a quick process.
It was quite difficult to
upload certain posts onto
my blog such as the
YouTube videos and the
things we had to take
photos off in order to get
them on.
Next time I think that I would try and find an
easier way in which I can upload certain
posts onto my blog, this could save a lot of
time and effort for other work.
Individual
contribution to
your team
I think that myself
contributing to the team
went ok, I think that
making the script and the
flow chart was the key part
of everyone in the group
contributing and
personally I think making
the script was the stronger
point that I did in the team.
I think that I personally
could’ve helped out the
other people that I was
working with a little bit
more and made sure their
broadcasts were sounding
alright and help them with
anything they wanted help
with.
If we were to do it all over again, I think I
would make sure I contribute to the team a
lot more and make sure everyone else in
the group has help which I can offer them
with little things.
Class work
I think that everything we
did in the class as a group
was done to the best of
our abilities and we
couldn’t have done much
better to get everything
out of the work we did.
I think that maybe we
could’ve maybe came up
with a few more ideas to
contribute to our radio
broadcast.
I don’t think I would change anything that
we did in the class because we all got on
with everything and did it to the highest of
our abilities.
Independent
work (work
When we weren’t doing
work inside of the class as
When we weren’t working
in the class and we were
doing our own individual
I think that if we were to do it next time, I
would do more research on existing radio
stations similar to ours.
5. outside of
lessons)
a group we all did
individual research to
make sure we could get
the best out of our work.
work we could have
possibly researched
existing radio stations of
the same genre and target
audience to get a better
understanding of what we
needed to do.
