1. Blogger
Blogger was used so that I could
show the work that I have done
for this coursework. I found
uploading the files onto blogger as
I was able to easily grasp onto
what other software to use to
upload different types of media.
For sound, I used sound cloud. I
found this software simple as it
was simply just getting an embed
link so that I could put the sound
directly onto blogger. For video I
used vimeo. Vimeo I found to be a
easy piece of software, as I was
able to learn how to use vimeo
without being told within seconds.
This therefore was a very simple
software to use, meaning o was
able to upload my videos at a
quicker rate.. As well as this, I
used slide share to upload any
word documents or PowerPoint
presentations. This process was
similar to sound cloud and vimeo
as I needed an embed link. I found
this the easiest software to use as I
was able to use to put a variety of
different documents onto my
blogger page.
InDesign
I used InDesign to construct the double page
spread of my magazine. What I learned from
using this software was many things, as I had
not used it before. Through this software I was
able to create a masthead for the piece. I found
this effective as I was able to include the text in
the piece easily, whilst I was also able to change
the key words in the sentence to read by
highlighting the word and changing the colour.
This was an effective as it allows the audience
to know the most important parts of the
quotation, and by highlighting them in different
colour it allows the audience to remember that
specific part of the article. I was also able to
create a by-line and a short sub-heading for the
piece. This was also effective as it is a key part
of an article in a magazine. I have also learned
how to create paragraphs on InDesign. The
paragraphs shown where already on the page
when I entered, yet when I had to add another
paragraph, I clicked on an icon on the top left of
the final paragraph. This allowed another
paragraph to enter the page. The paragraphs
were also effective as I was able to rearrange
them around the picture. I mainly did this by
moving the paragraphs after I had put the
picture in. However, I found the software
harder to use when using the picture. I knew
how to put the picture in, yet could not work
out how to expand the picture. This required
help to learn how to do it, has I had not learned
about it the previous time we worked on our
double page spread
Photoshop
I used photo shop for my front cover,
contents page and double page spread. I
created my front cover on Photoshop, as well
as taking out the background of the picture
of my cover star. I also used Photoshop to
create the background of my magazine, such
as coloured texts boxes and the text off of
dafont. I found dafont an easy process to use
on Photoshop as once you learned how to do
it, it was easy to take out the background of
the print screen. I found creating the text
boxes an effective process, as I just had to put
the text boxes underneath the text in order ,
which was showed on the right hand side of
the screen. However, the part I found hardest
was taking out the background of the image.
I found this process, as I had not properly
done it before but had tried and learned how
to do it. This meant that I needed to be
reminded of what software tools to use to
take out the background of the image. I later
learned that I had to use the magic wand tool
as well as the magnetic lasso tool. I found the
contents page much inside to use as I had
used most of the contents page already on
the front cover. This included creating text
for my editors letter and the names as well as
the info shown underneath. The only thing
that I found challenging was having to
rearrange everything once I had added more
information so that everything looked
proportionate. This allowed the contents
page to look professional to the target
audience
Dafont
Dafont I used for my front cover and my
contents page. Dafont allowed me to use
text which looked appropriate for my type
of magazine. The text used showed the
target audience what type of magazine it
was, as well as the font being used for
artists which were shown within the
genre.
2. Camera
I used the camera to take
pictures for my front cover,
double page spread and
contents page. I found this to
be an easy process I was able to
take pictures easily despite
initially not working out how
to use the camera as the
pictures were coming out
blurry. The camera was
eventually effective however,
as was able to take pictures to
show off my artist as well as
other locations throughout my
magazine.
Video recorder
I found the video recorder to be an
effective tool when doing my
coursework. This is because I was
able to record many people at one
time. I especially found that because
it was a handheld camera, I was les
likely to drop it. However, because it
was handheld it meant that parts of
the video were shaky, especially
when I was reading out the questions
to the interviewees. This means, that
on further thought, I should have
used a tripod when filming the
questions and answers, as it would
have made it look more clear as well
as it being more professional
Pc
I used a pc throughout the
entirety of my coursework. The
pc was used to up[load
everything like videos and images
through a cable, whilst also being
used to create presentations and
documents to be put onto
blogger, which a pc was also
needed top use. I used a pc over a
laptop or an iMac as I am used to
using regularly, meaning that by
knowing how to use the software
the computer has, I was able to
save time so that I could spend
that time on creating and working
on more work rather than
figuring out how to use the
software that is installed on the
computer like I would do with an
iMac
