Date of production:
The first part of the production process of a monthly music magazine is finding a date for the magazine to be published. A schedule can then
be made in order to meet this publication deadline.
Managing the schedule:
The schedule should be made so that there are provisions for certain mishaps that may occur during the production process, and gives enough
time to still meet the deadline even when these mishaps may occur.
Editorial and Budgetary decision:
This is when the editorial team decide on the content included in each issue of the magazine. After deciding on the content, the team will
discuss the budget they have for the issue.
Content Acquisition:
There are two major ways in which content can be gathered for magazine issues. One way is through in-house staff writers, and the second is
through external writers who are commissioned to write about topics. It is in this stage that artwork and graphics are also worked on.
Reporters and journalists are also researching the content covered in the magazine at this point in the production process.
Sub-Editing:
A sub-editor checks the accuracy of all facts in the magazine, checks the spelling of words, checks grammar and punctuation, and works on the
page layout of the magazine pages.
Page Layout:
In big companies, they often have a team of staff known as the layout staff, whose job is to typeset and layout the various pages that come
together to make the magazine.

Proofreading:
The editorial department will print out a hard copy of the magazine, in order to read through it and point out and correct any spelling,
punctuation or grammar mistakes. The editorial team will continue to proof read the magazine, until each member is satisfied that there are
no more mistakes.
File emailed to printer:
After being proof read, the magazine will now be emailed to the printer, which will then print out the amount of copies needed. A pre-press
process will ensure all images and fonts needed for the magazine have also been sent with the file. Once this stage is over, the printing
company takes over and prints the required copies of the magazine out.
I think a suitable distribution company for my magazine would be Innzone. This is because they communicate, sell and distribute products over
the telephone to 25,000 independents with a display value of £250 per store, resulting in over 3000 stockists. The date of release for my
magazine will be 1st February. This is because it is the start of the month, meaning readers will have the entire month to purchase this issue of
my magazine. I would then continue to release my magazine issues on the first of each month as this will be convenient for readers, and they
will remember the date of release because it will be the first of each month.
