The production plan outlines the key stages in creating a magazine: 1) Editorial decisions are made about topics and budgets. 2) Writers create content and graphics. 3) Editors check articles for accuracy and layout pages. 4) Pages are proofread and sent to the printer. 5) The printed magazines are distributed to shops for purchase. The candidate will research and write articles, layout the magazine, and proofread during the week of October 24th to November 1st, with a distribution date of November 1st. This allows readers to stay updated weekly on music artists.

The first thing in creating a magazine is to look at the editorial and budget and make editorial decisions
like deciding and putting together the topics that will be included in that issue of the magazine. After they
have done this decisions based on their budget will be made. The second step is the content acquisition
where internal and external wr4iters create the content that will be used in the magazine; it is at this stage that the graphics are worked
on. The journalists will research the topics and events that will be covered. This is done through the use of internet and the news. They
will also arrange with interviewees when they can conduct an interview. The third stage is sub-editing. This is the point at which the sub
editor or the editor checks the accuracy of all the facts in the articles, they ensure all words are spelt properly and all the grammar and
punctuation is correct. They also make sure the articles follow the house style and will begin to work on the layout of the pages. The
fourth stage is the page layout, where a special team in the magazine decide how to layout the magazine. They use desktop publishing
programs such as InDesign or PageMaker. This is the point where adverts are placed as well. The next step is proof reading where the

editors continue to look through the magazine and check there are no mistakes. They print out a hardcopy of the magazine and read
through it to do this. Any mistakes found will be corrected and will continue to proofread until they are certain there are no more
mistakes. Then the file is emailed to the printer, this is the stage where the magazine is sent to the printer and will be printed. Before
this there is the pre-press stage where it is checked that all the fonts and images needed have been sent. Once this is over the printing
company takes over. The final stage is distribution where the magazines are sent to the warehouse and sent out to different shops to be
purchased.
The distribution date will be the 1st November. This is because it’s the first day of the month so readers will remember and will be able
to see what went on with music artists in the previous week. Since it is a weekly magazine people can rely on the magazine to find out
things about their favourite song artists and other things such as concerts or tours. Readers can stay updated on a weekly basis which a
lot of readers would find useful.
