Schedule
Week Beginning Work Completed
Summer Holidays
Monday 7th September -We learnt and identified the key features and conventions of a usual
magazine.
As a class we identified the key features of Q magazine, and afterwards -I
did the same for a magazine of my choice (XXL magazine) and started
putting the information together on my main task Planning and
Research PowerPoint.
-I have also started to complete my ‘Audience Profile’ about the genre of
my magazine in relation to the theorists Hartley, Maslow and Katz).
Monday 14th
September
-Today I finished my audience profile and then I went out and found my
friends from school that I believed would fit the image for my target
audience. I also went into depth talking about Hartley’s 7 Subjectivities,
Katz’ Uses and Gratifications Theory, Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs along
with Socio-Economic needs.
-During the week I have also continued with my Planning and Research
PowerPoint along with a mind map connoting ideas of what masthead
fonts and names I will have, what props, potential colour schemes and
strapline ideas.
Monday 21st
September
-I have now completed my planning and research PowerPoint.
-Also, I have created a prop list for the photo-shoot for my music
magazine.
-Anchored with this, for homework I created and completed my
‘Magazine Flat Plan’ PowerPoint.
Monday 28th
September
-Now, I have completed my prop list for the photo-shoot of my music
magazine.
-Also, the process of creating my ‘Production Plan’ has started along
with my ‘Photography Plan’ which is where I need to consider who is
going to be placed on my magazine and what page.
-Mr Crafts also gave us our ‘Location Recce’ to complete and made us
create a Survey Monkey questionnaire as part of our primary research
for our magazine. I need approximately 10 questions and responses, I
also need to do the same for a typed up questionnaire and then calculate
the results.
-Corrections were also given to us, so I finished off my mood board.
Monday 5th October -I have collected survey results for my typed questionnaire and have
received responses from over 10 people on Survey Monkey – I presented
both of these pieces of results on a PowerPoint.
- I have been continuing with my corrections that have been given out to
me and have started to create my hand-drawn drafts.
Monday 12th October -In class today I have started my Preliminary front cover on Photoshop; I
have added my masthead, strapline, a barcode, and the school logo to my
front cover. I used the yellow and blue colours from the St Andrews logo.
Monday 19th October -I have inserted a MCU of Mr Hamshar on the front cover of my
preliminary task and deleted the background that was on the original
image because we learnt how to use the ‘Quick Selection Tool’ on
Photoshop.
-I also inserted the issue number, price, and social media logos in my
barcode.
-I have added cover lines and the main headline stating “Exclusive
interview with Mr Hamshar”.
-I inserted ident images that related with my cover lines and added a
puff promotion to win an Ipad Mini.
Half Term
Monday 2nd November -After completing my preliminary front cover, I have made a start to my
contents page.
-I have planned using the ‘Ruler Tool’ to map out where everything will
go.
-.-I have written my sublines for the stories of my preliminary contents
page and have copied the St Andrews logo a number of times to bullet
point each different subline clearly.
-I then wrote the description underneath.
Monday 9th November - From last lesson, I have inserted editorial, signature, my contact
information, an image of myself and a drop capital. I did this by learning
how to use the ‘Pen Tool’.
-I have added the image of Mr Hamshar and other anchored images to
fill the page along with the web address for St Andrews.
Monday 16th November -My preliminary contents page is now complete, but I must await
corrections.
-In class today we started our main task front cover.
- I Created my masthead by using the font style ‘AquaWax’ from
www.dafont.com, I also created the red box to place the font in.
-I have inserted my strapline “Raps Most Ragin” and the main image of
COD Rap with the front covers main headline.
-I have also added my cover lines and barcode along with social media
logos that have been placed inside.
Monday 23rd November -This week I have made adjustments to my main task front cover, I
added drop shadows to my cover lines and a stroke effect to the word
“RAP?” on my main headline.
-I also have added some “$” signs on my background to not make my
front cover not look so plain and bare.
Monday 30th November -I have now started to conform together my main task contents page.
-I have laid out using the ‘Ruler Tool’ where I would like everything to be
placed, and I created my title for my contents page along with the footer
box.
Monday 7th December -I have written out the sublines and description underneath using the
‘Text Tool’ (T).
Monday 14th December -I have also added my picture of “Iggy Azalea” with a pull quote.
CHRISTMAS HOLIDAYS
Monday 4th January -All of the corrections for my preliminary tasks and planning and research
tasks that I have been given by Mr Crafts and Miss Oliver have been
completed and am waiting for more corrections on top of that.
- I have also started the creation for my editorial page.
Monday 11th January -My editorial has been completed with help from Miss Oliver and Mr
Crafts.
-We have started to develop our skills from Photoshop to use for InDesign
as we have now started the creation of our DPS.
-I have created the layout of my DPS by making columns.
-In my free periods I wrote out the interview with COD Rap and proof read
it.
Monday 18th January -I placed my interview into my columns.
-I have also changed the background of my interview page to a grey to
black gradient and I have placed the social media information and logos
onto my interview page.
- I found an image of a brick wall that I liked for COD to be placed on top of
and started to place the image of COD on my DPS along with the pull quote
on the same page.
Monday 25th January -Today I have completed my DPS because I have added another pull quote
that goes on the interview page, I did this by wrapping the text around the
interview.
-I also changed the questions to be the colour red as well as being
capitalized whereas the responses to the interview are in white, normal
text.
Monday 1st February -This week, I have continued with my corrections that I got received back
from Miss Oliver about my production main task work.
- I also focused on corrections on my Production Plan and Magazine Flat
Plan.
Monday 8th February -This week and this lesson I have just continued with my other remaining
planning and research corrections that have been given to me.
Monday 15th
February
-During this week, I have been writing up my first question for my
evaluation.
Monday 22nd
February
-Question 1 evaluation complete because Mr Crafts told us the deadline
was on Monday 22nd February, now I am onto question 2.
Monday 29th
February
-I have completed question 2 and completed corrections for my question
one. I now will await corrections for my question 2 and complete my
question 3 which is due on Friday 4th March.
Monday 7th March -Today, on this Monday Question 4 is due in
-I have completed my corrections for questions 2 and 3 as they were not
big questions.
- I have also completed question 5.
-We have been given question 6 to complete for Friday 18th March and
have been allowed more time for this question as it is meant to be longer
and more in-depth in comparison to other questions.
Monday 14th March -In class we have been continuing with exam preparation for Unit G322.
-I have also completed evaluation question 6 and sent it to Miss Oliver to
wait for corrections.
-Question 7 has also been set to us, this is our last question and is due for
Tuesday the 22nd March.
Monday 21st March -I have completed evaluation question 7 and will be awaiting corrections
to do this over half term, and then put all of my corrected evaluation
questions into their technologies.
EASTER HOLIDAYS
Monday 11th April -Over the Easter holidays, I have been correcting all of my evaluation
questions and I put them on my technologies.
-I also came into school twice during the 2 weeks to do more coursework
catch up where I did more planning and research corrections
-Also we have been doing more Unit G322 revision
Monday 18th April -This week was me sorting out my blog posts and AS media final page.
Monday 25th April -I have uploaded everything on my blog page!

  • 1. St. Andrew’s Catholic School 64135 Candidate Name: Maryasiye Kircin Candidate Number: 1158 Unit G321: Foundation Portfolio in Media Studies Schedule Week Beginning Work Completed Summer Holidays Monday 7th September -We learnt and identified the key features and conventions of a usual magazine. As a class we identified the key features of Q magazine, and afterwards -I did the same for a magazine of my choice (XXL magazine) and started putting the information together on my main task Planning and Research PowerPoint. -I have also started to complete my ‘Audience Profile’ about the genre of my magazine in relation to the theorists Hartley, Maslow and Katz).
  • 2. Monday 14th September -Today I finished my audience profile and then I went out and found my friends from school that I believed would fit the image for my target audience. I also went into depth talking about Hartley’s 7 Subjectivities, Katz’ Uses and Gratifications Theory, Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs along with Socio-Economic needs. -During the week I have also continued with my Planning and Research PowerPoint along with a mind map connoting ideas of what masthead fonts and names I will have, what props, potential colour schemes and strapline ideas. Monday 21st September -I have now completed my planning and research PowerPoint. -Also, I have created a prop list for the photo-shoot for my music magazine. -Anchored with this, for homework I created and completed my ‘Magazine Flat Plan’ PowerPoint. Monday 28th September -Now, I have completed my prop list for the photo-shoot of my music magazine. -Also, the process of creating my ‘Production Plan’ has started along with my ‘Photography Plan’ which is where I need to consider who is going to be placed on my magazine and what page. -Mr Crafts also gave us our ‘Location Recce’ to complete and made us create a Survey Monkey questionnaire as part of our primary research for our magazine. I need approximately 10 questions and responses, I also need to do the same for a typed up questionnaire and then calculate the results. -Corrections were also given to us, so I finished off my mood board.
  • 3. Monday 5th October -I have collected survey results for my typed questionnaire and have received responses from over 10 people on Survey Monkey – I presented both of these pieces of results on a PowerPoint. - I have been continuing with my corrections that have been given out to me and have started to create my hand-drawn drafts. Monday 12th October -In class today I have started my Preliminary front cover on Photoshop; I have added my masthead, strapline, a barcode, and the school logo to my front cover. I used the yellow and blue colours from the St Andrews logo. Monday 19th October -I have inserted a MCU of Mr Hamshar on the front cover of my preliminary task and deleted the background that was on the original image because we learnt how to use the ‘Quick Selection Tool’ on Photoshop. -I also inserted the issue number, price, and social media logos in my barcode. -I have added cover lines and the main headline stating “Exclusive interview with Mr Hamshar”. -I inserted ident images that related with my cover lines and added a puff promotion to win an Ipad Mini. Half Term Monday 2nd November -After completing my preliminary front cover, I have made a start to my contents page.
  • 4. -I have planned using the ‘Ruler Tool’ to map out where everything will go. -.-I have written my sublines for the stories of my preliminary contents page and have copied the St Andrews logo a number of times to bullet point each different subline clearly. -I then wrote the description underneath. Monday 9th November - From last lesson, I have inserted editorial, signature, my contact information, an image of myself and a drop capital. I did this by learning how to use the ‘Pen Tool’. -I have added the image of Mr Hamshar and other anchored images to fill the page along with the web address for St Andrews. Monday 16th November -My preliminary contents page is now complete, but I must await corrections. -In class today we started our main task front cover. - I Created my masthead by using the font style ‘AquaWax’ from www.dafont.com, I also created the red box to place the font in. -I have inserted my strapline “Raps Most Ragin” and the main image of COD Rap with the front covers main headline. -I have also added my cover lines and barcode along with social media logos that have been placed inside. Monday 23rd November -This week I have made adjustments to my main task front cover, I added drop shadows to my cover lines and a stroke effect to the word “RAP?” on my main headline. -I also have added some “$” signs on my background to not make my front cover not look so plain and bare.
  • 5. Monday 30th November -I have now started to conform together my main task contents page. -I have laid out using the ‘Ruler Tool’ where I would like everything to be placed, and I created my title for my contents page along with the footer box. Monday 7th December -I have written out the sublines and description underneath using the ‘Text Tool’ (T). Monday 14th December -I have also added my picture of “Iggy Azalea” with a pull quote. CHRISTMAS HOLIDAYS Monday 4th January -All of the corrections for my preliminary tasks and planning and research tasks that I have been given by Mr Crafts and Miss Oliver have been completed and am waiting for more corrections on top of that. - I have also started the creation for my editorial page. Monday 11th January -My editorial has been completed with help from Miss Oliver and Mr Crafts. -We have started to develop our skills from Photoshop to use for InDesign as we have now started the creation of our DPS. -I have created the layout of my DPS by making columns. -In my free periods I wrote out the interview with COD Rap and proof read it. Monday 18th January -I placed my interview into my columns.
  • 6. -I have also changed the background of my interview page to a grey to black gradient and I have placed the social media information and logos onto my interview page. - I found an image of a brick wall that I liked for COD to be placed on top of and started to place the image of COD on my DPS along with the pull quote on the same page. Monday 25th January -Today I have completed my DPS because I have added another pull quote that goes on the interview page, I did this by wrapping the text around the interview. -I also changed the questions to be the colour red as well as being capitalized whereas the responses to the interview are in white, normal text. Monday 1st February -This week, I have continued with my corrections that I got received back from Miss Oliver about my production main task work. - I also focused on corrections on my Production Plan and Magazine Flat Plan. Monday 8th February -This week and this lesson I have just continued with my other remaining planning and research corrections that have been given to me. Monday 15th February -During this week, I have been writing up my first question for my evaluation. Monday 22nd February -Question 1 evaluation complete because Mr Crafts told us the deadline was on Monday 22nd February, now I am onto question 2. Monday 29th February -I have completed question 2 and completed corrections for my question one. I now will await corrections for my question 2 and complete my question 3 which is due on Friday 4th March.
  • 7. Monday 7th March -Today, on this Monday Question 4 is due in -I have completed my corrections for questions 2 and 3 as they were not big questions. - I have also completed question 5. -We have been given question 6 to complete for Friday 18th March and have been allowed more time for this question as it is meant to be longer and more in-depth in comparison to other questions. Monday 14th March -In class we have been continuing with exam preparation for Unit G322. -I have also completed evaluation question 6 and sent it to Miss Oliver to wait for corrections. -Question 7 has also been set to us, this is our last question and is due for Tuesday the 22nd March. Monday 21st March -I have completed evaluation question 7 and will be awaiting corrections to do this over half term, and then put all of my corrected evaluation questions into their technologies. EASTER HOLIDAYS Monday 11th April -Over the Easter holidays, I have been correcting all of my evaluation questions and I put them on my technologies. -I also came into school twice during the 2 weeks to do more coursework catch up where I did more planning and research corrections -Also we have been doing more Unit G322 revision Monday 18th April -This week was me sorting out my blog posts and AS media final page. Monday 25th April -I have uploaded everything on my blog page!
