The production of a music magazine is split intovarious sections tobe completed inorder toget the best hard copy. The
sections canbe divided intocategories, Planning, Editing, Final work, proof reading and finally distributing.
Week beginning: 1st of November Date of publication – Weeks time (Monday first pressing)
Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday Saturday Sunday
Date Of
publication:
This is the chosen
date of time of
publication. The
company will
need to produce
a schedule of
how to order the
production
process.
Schedule:
The schedule will
help the team of
editors plan out
the production
week and make
sure to prepare
for any mistakes.
Editorial And
budgetary
decision:
This is where the
editorial team will
plan out what the
contents of the
magazine editorial
will be and how
much money will
be spent on the
first issue as well
as them staying
within the budget
range.
Content
acquisition:
(Most important
part) this is the
fieldwork for
interviewers and
photographers to
gather the data
needed for the
magazine content.
Sub – Editing: This
next step is where
the content is going
through quality
control to make
sure things like
spelling and
accuracy in facts
are all correct.
Magazines cannot
afford to make big
mistakes like this
especially if my
magazine
(Scream) aims to
be a successful
media product like
my magazine of
inspiration rock
sound.
Page layout – the
layout team
assemble the
prototype to make
sure all of the
pages are correctly
in place and with
good clarity and
structure.
Proof reading –
Once the layout is
done proof reading
commences and
the content is then
corrected or
altered if needs be.
Final file
emailed to the
printer – the final
file containing all
of the consistent
house styles and
fonts are sent to
the printing
company to be
printed. Before
distributing the
final product they
will send a copy
to the magazine
company to be
read over and
checked before
distribution.
Distribution –
This is the
absolute final
stage of the
magazine
production;
once all the hard
copies are
printed out they
are then sent off
to the
warehouses.
From the
warehouses
they then are
sent to
newsagents and
shops for public
distribution.
