The magazine targets older teenagers to young adults, who are actively socializing and discussing music tastes at that age. To attract this demographic, the main image features a 17-year-old model, who younger audiences and young adults would want to emulate or envy for her appearance and status in the music world. Both the front cover poses and content page poses and layout demonstrate simplicity appealing to young people, though the collage on the content page reflects the busy mind of an older teen to young adult.
RNR MAGAZINE REPRESENTS YOUTH THROUGH IMAGES AND DESIGNS
1. HOW DOES YOUR MEDIA PRODUCT REPRESENT PARTICULAR SOCIAL GROUPS?
2. The RNR magazine is supposed to be targeted towards older teenagers to a young adults category and I have chosen that age group because it is around that certain age where socialising is a key aspect in their life and within that people tend to discuss about their musical tastes and interests. So consequently, I have applied a younger model for my main image around the age of about 17. Using a older teenager as a model would draw younger audiences attention and the young adults attentions for perhaps other peculiar reasons such as wanting to emulate her appearance as she is younger then them and also envy her looks and status in the music world. The poses that the artists have exhibited in the front cover and contents also demonstrate that the target audience are of young people. The poses seem to be straightforward as they are simple yet giving a direct expression across the audiences. The contents page has a simplicity value also because although it appears to be tidy and organised the collage effect on the right hand side demonstrates the mind of an older teen to young adult. It is a time period where they are the most busiest due to work and outside relations so placing this there would create a sense of familiarity to them.
