Emergent Service Workers: This new class has low economic capital but has high levels of 'emerging' cultural
capital and high social capital. This group are young and often found in urban areas.

aspects of the soul genre and to infuse the 21st century

Before producing my final product, I carried out an
Audience profile and wanted to ensure that the
connotations of the demographic were portrayed
throughout making my Vinyl Magazine. I feel I successfully
inferred these aspects and continuously included them
within my front cover, contents page and double page
spread.

off interests for old soul/Motown music however is
attracted by the latest released music.
Gold: Glamorous and represents
showbiz and unforgettable music.
Wealthy. The gold colours implies
wealth and sophistication.
The professional attire and well dressed
artist implies a job in the city and a well
paid job. No bright colours but neutral
and simple.
Strong, confident individual who aspires the demographic to be confident and a
powerful person. The feature article photograph resembles the demographic and how
they will succeed in their career. They also have aspirations and dreams and are not
afraid to strive for them. The artist on the front cover, allows these readers to believe
they are the best in what they do.
Featuring artists to remind the reader that
they can make it and can pursuit their dreams.

The masthead ‘Vinyl’ implies the authentic part of soul and how the reader is interested in consumerism
from that era. They enjoy music and play musical instruments and appreciate the objects that create the
oldest music.

approachable. Implies that they are able to attend these events and do take
interest in the soul genre and Vinyl Magazine; these are dedicated and passionate
readers. Willing to meet new people and share their interests with people all over
the UK. Plus, it conveys how the social group is non-stop and busy. Huge amounts
of time for these events.
The range of images, infer that the social group
is diverse and are engaged through people,
events, landscapes and objects associated with
the soul era. Admire music, travelling, concerts

they’re representing convey how they are
determined and individualistic.
However, the facial expressions on each of these
magazines look mysterious and full of attitude.
This gives the social group a view that they may
be stubborn and not easy going. The eye contact

suggests that they have stubborn traits and even
represent the proportion of the female
demographic as this.
They experiment with a range of angles which
resembles the demographic to be confident and
less insecure of their appearance as these

7. How is a Vinyl reader presented?
Not in any way bias to a gender and has full
gender equality. The use of male and female
images engage with all readers. Furthermore the
age gap is remarkably wide; any age can read this
and it has a friendly tone (easy to be attracted to).
Q magazine represents their demographic
partially bias and male dominated; hence the
large use of female celebrities. Vinyl magazine is
fully equal and represents the featuring artists
and has a range of ages ,genders and ethnicities
in the magazine.
The vinyl reader is social and
professional and is a hard worker as
they aspire to the successful artist on
the front and inside the magazine.Vinyl is for the readers who enjoy the 21st century music and also music from as
early as 1930’s – 1980’s. This means they are experimental and are passionate
about music.
