The student managed their design project well by creating a schedule, communicating regularly with their client, and delivering the agreed upon outcomes of two social media posters on time. They experienced no copyright constraints as the client provided all necessary content. Overall communication with the client went smoothly, though one poster initially missed a character and needed updating. The student learned the importance of planning, meeting deadlines, maintaining good client communication, and avoiding copyright issues for future projects.
2. Discuss the constraints you experienced in the project from a legal (copyright), regulatory (ASA
and financial perspective.
My work didn't face any constraints due to copyright. This is because my client provided me with the content I
needed to add into my designs. My client gave me permission to use her characters, fonts, everything. This helped
me a lot as I wouldn't be running into any copyright issues. All the other design features that wasnโt my clients were
shape tools in Photoshop. Not worrying about copyright issues and not getting sued allowed me to comfortably get
along with my design work which allowed me to work faster and better. I cut out the characters using the polygon
tool in Photoshop. This allowed me to place them on the page wherever I liked with no backgrounds on them.
3. You need to discuss how well you managed the project.
Over all I think I managed my time very well. Creating a project schedule helped me guide my way through planning
and designing very effectively. Using It allowed me to finish all my work on time and it helped me see that I had
enough time for improvements. My client gave me no deadline so I followed the college hand in deadline to finish
all my production and improvements. The Overall management of my project was also good because me and my
client had a strong communication through emailing and I believe it all ran very smoothly. I sent images of my work
and she really liked the idea, the only issue I faced was when I missed out one of the characters on one of my
designs. I sent her an updated copy and she used it on her Instagram. The fact that there was no cost and no worries
about copyright allowed me to get on with my work, without having many issues to face. This allowed me to
manage my time better and for a more fluent work flow. I also think the schedule really helped me map where I
should be at and it also allowed me to work well and organize myself.
4. Discuss your time management and how you worked to the agreed timescales.
I believe I managed my time well the log I created helped me as it gave me an idea of when I needed to complete each task I
Set out for myself. I gave myself two weeks of production and I believe this was more then enough time to make sure I came up
with successful ideas for my client. In the third and fourth week I gave myself two weeks to create two posters. I split this up to
create a poster a week. This again was more then enough time and I felt very comfortable when designing each poster.
Week five was my improvements week, this gave me time to contact my client and make any improvements to my posters.
5. How well did you manage communications?
I believe overall communications got handled very well. Me and my client managed to hold a strong connection and this helped
me and her in creating a successful piece of work. My and my client contacted each other through email and I think it all ran very
smoothly. Firstly I sent her an email explaining to her my proposition and she came back to me with the brief all filled out. My
client also gave me a hand in giving me inspiration by emailing me existing posters. My client also sent me a JPG of each
character and a JPG of the book so I could use the characters and the title. She also mentioned that I could use my own artistic
flare. This gave me a wide range of the amount of ideas I could come up with. I got to work right away and as soon as I had finish
my work I sent her the two posters to see if they were acceptable and if she wanted any improvements. On one of the designs I
missed a character as she stated in the email she sent me. I got to work right away and I sent her an updated version of my
design and she loved it. My client used both my designs on her social media and it was all very successful. Sending my designs to
her for improvements was a very good idea as it made a much more successful piece of work. Overall the contact between me
and my client as strong and this allowed for a better piece of work.
6. How did you meet the requirements of the brief and achieve your agreed outcomes.
In my brief my the requirements were to design two social media posters
one for Instagram and one for twitter. My client mentioned that I could use
my own artistic flare to create these eye catching posters. My client
mentioned that it needs to be colorful and it needs to include all the
characters from the book in the designs. I think I successfully did this as both
my designs include all the characters and I believe they are both very
colourful and eye catching. I think the characters really standout when you
use depth of field and I think they both really work. Both designs meet the
correct sizes for the social media platforms they will be released on. I think
over all I met the requirements as I have made two eye catching, colourful,
social media posters that send the message across about the book. Parents
that are scrolling through their social media pages will see these pop out of
their pages and I believe it will catch their attention.
7. What have your learnt here that could help you in future tasks.
Overall I think I worked well and my planning and production went accordingly. I learnt the key skills of
contacting a client this helped me better social skills. Its also helped me to get better at planning and to follow
deadlines. This will be sure to help me in the future when I get asked to produce another piece of work for a
client. You start off with your planning, production, improvements and you need to keep good communication
through out the whole project for your client. This enables for a better piece of work and a happier client.
Another good thing I learnt is making sure you aren't copyrighting because this could cause lots of problems you
and your client donโt want to be facing.
