2. Constraints with the project
There has only been 1 main problem legally with the client project and that’s been with the
font. It has been tough finding a font that is free to use commercially, however after some time
looking on DaFont.com I did find an appropriate font that was free commercially and my client
agreed that it was good to use for the project. Other than that, there wasn’t any problems I
came up with for the project legally.Another problem that was averted was how I was going to
use photography in the products without there being legal constraints, luckily me and the
client had an agreement which meant I could use the photography that they gave me through
email which I have kept a record of just in case there is a problem in the near future. Other than
those two potential problems, there was nothing else legally wrong with the project itself. This
is good because then I don’t have to worry about any legal issues when in production as I’ve
already sorted it out in the pre production phase, this therefore gives me more time to focus on
production rather than ironing out different things that could lead to legal issues.
3. Proof that the font used for the logo and a lot of the text is free for commercial use as well as personal
4. Two screenshots of e-mails that shows the client’s consent after I asked to use their photographs for my
products including the business card, leaflet, poster and social media products.
5. How well did I manage the project?
In my opinion the project was handled better than the previous projects, I started the
production one week later than I would of expected to start it this was because of planning and
of a previous project being late for me to send in which might of impacted how long it took to
finish this project. I did also make a schedule that I haven’t exactly kept to because I was doing
work out of order and not how I wanted to do it initially, this was because of client feedback
and having to improve the original work which was always going to happen and I should of
accounted for that in the pre production phase. However despite these early setbacks, I have
managed to finish the production and get it approved early on by the client. So in conclusion, I
had a poor start due to a previous college project however I got the finished production
approved early on by the client which lead to production being finished slightly earlier than
expected which meant I could concentrate more on the pre production that I haven’t finished
and on any improvements that could impact my grade positively.
6. Time management in the project
Time management was a massive issue at the start of the project, I was behind on
previous work as I mentioned in the previous slide and I was behind on pre production.
However once the other work was done I started production later than some people but
that was ok because as I’ve brought up before the client was a big fan of my work once I
started getting it sent to them, and I finished production early on because of the client not
asking for big improvements that would of taken time. I finished production half a week
earlier than I thought I was which gave me an ample amount of time to finish off any pre
production from 2 weeks before, and that’s when I started to get back on track and be
ahead of my work for the first time since the start of the project. In conclusion, my time
management was poor to start with but due to the client liking the initial work and not
asking for too much improvements I managed to finish off with a good amount of time
remaining to improve anything and get pre production sorted.

8. How well did I manage communication
with the client?
Communication with the client was clear and precise, I have kept screenshots of every e-
mail just in case some legal constraints popped up regarding me using their photos which
they have allowed me to use throughout the project. This communication was frequent as
I’ll always e-mail the client with updates on the project and how it was going, they would
reply with feedback and potential improvements and then the cycle would repeat itself
until the client was 100% happy with the work which in my case didn’t take that long as
the client was happy with the work. In conclusion I did keep in communication with the
client as much as I could during the production phase to keep them up to date with their
product in the making to see if they were happy with certain changes and just how it
looked in general.
9. These were two of the competitors that I looked at that were based inYork, from what I tried to find
they have a website with links to social media accounts. The style is simple and professional with an
easy to read website for the people going onto it, this is probably because the target audience would be
the older generation so when trying to book lessons or a day out they would need an easy to navigate
system for them to see and use. I never made a website however this shows that my products including
the social media needed to be easy to see and navigate for the older generation who are the target
audience of my client.
10. Proof of regular communication between me and the client, discussing the project but the main focus in these photos
are the feedback from the client and any improvements I could add, this slide also links in with slide 4 which also
proves that I had frequent communication with the client.
11. How did I meet the requirements of the
brief?
The brief in general wasn’t very specific, this can be viewed as a good thing as this left room for
my ideas and styles to fit into the project instead of having to stick very strictly to a specific
style and plan that the client wants.Their outline in the brief was to include a leaflet, logo and a
business card, however they mentioned in the outline that they’d love to hear about any ideas
that I had and I included my own ideas to production by adding in social media mock ups and a
poster to go with the leaflet as they mentioned they had a poster but they haven’t done much
with so I thought I’d take that challenge too. There were specific requirements for the project,
one being that all adverts should be A4 and that the leaflet should be trifold and based on A4
and I did manage to keep to these requirements as you could tell by the final products that I
have made have kept to those specifications. The other specification they had for me was to
include social media and other links in all pieces of media that I make, all of which I have
managed to include on all pieces of media I have created. In conclusion, I have followed the
requirements set out to me on the brief by the client.
12. How did I meet the requirements of the
brief?
During the pre production phase I looked through other examples of products made by
my client and other competitors in the area, this was to give me a rough idea of how
everything was going to fall into place and what design I should go for based on what the
other companies do to be eye catching to their target audience. The audience for my
client is an old age with the client saying the average age is 50+, this was because due to
retirement people would go back to their hobbies they used to have so companies like this
provide a great service to those ages and the products I make to advertise it had to be
clear and eye catching to that age demographic. I feel like I achieved that with my bright
and colourful products that are very eye catching, the font and size of that font is big and
readable close up and from some distance too which is perfect for that age category in my
opinion.
13. This was the initial brief that I
received at the start of the
project, this shows the
requirements and how there
wasn’t many specific
requirements that would impact
the way I made the project
completely which was good
because that gives me the
creative freedom to create what I
want for the client based off these
simple requirements.
14. Proof that I
have kept to
the
requirements
by adding all
the social
media links
and any other
links in every
product
15. A4 Page Example The A4 Poster The A4Tri Fold Leaflet 1
Proof that I have kept to the specific requirements by making sure the posters and leaflet sizes
stick to the A4 Format
16. What have I learnt for future tasks?
With this project being the last task I’ll ever do on this course it’s hard to fully answer this
question, however this gave me plenty of experience on how to work with clients. I have
managed to learn how to communicate with the client regularly and respond to their
feedback positively and make sure the changes are good enough for the client’s demands.
My future will be in university doing photography, so this task will help me with contacting
client’s in the future as I’ll have the basic knowledge to communicate and work efficiently
with the client.
