2. What is a DigiPak?
A DigiPak is a foldable, often four paneled CD case
used by artists when they feel a standard CD case
isn’t good enough.
Usually gatefold paperboard, they hold the CD and
all the necessary accompanying information;
barcodes, tracklist, artist info etc.
DigiPaks are designed to unfold from a single pane
CD case into a much larger display of artist info and
artwork.
DigiPaks often come in different
shapes and sizes. They often
distinguish themselves using variety,
bright colours and fonts.
3. Cover
Artists tend to use bright, noticeable covers in
order to draw people’s eyes to them and
promote sales.
They are often unique and covered in the artist
name and branding so that they are
distinguishable to all the rest.
Minimal information is applied to the front cover,
often consisting only of the artist and album
name.
4. Back
The back of the DigiPak often contains more
branding information however this is mostly
where album information is contained.
The back is where the tracklist, copyright
information and barcodes are contained.
Often printed on a large spread of the artist(s) or
album iconography, the back features things
such as record labels and company information
as well as information purely associated with the
artist(s) themselves.
5. Inside
The inside of a DigiPak contains a plastic holder
in order to hold the CD(s); often transparent
plastic is used in order to fit more album or artist
imagery inside.
It is often surrounded by artist or album imagery.
Other items may include song lyrics, more
information and personal messages from the
artist.
