2. Digipak Definition -
What exactly is a Digipak?
A Digipak is a type of CD packaging, which is made out of card stock or other heavy
paper/cardboard material. Digipaks can flip open like a book, or they can have
three parts, so that one portion of the packaging opens to the right and one to the
left, with the CD in the centre portion.
In order to create your own Digipak, you must carry out a lot of research to come up
with an idea that is YOURS and ORIGINAL!
You must consider:
- Font styles, wording, colouring
- Logo
- Layout, colouring, composition
- Images used, design, layout
- Information present
- What conventions of a CD cover/Digipak does it include and/or leave out
3. Conventions -
When looking through Digipaks you will notice some
conventions of the product; this is useful information to
know when you come to creating your very own one.
- Either 4 or 6 panels
- A main image was placed on the front either being a logo,
symbol, image to represent the artist or band.
- A song list was at the back to show what songs were on the
CD.
- The logo of the production company.
- Barcode of the product.
- Name of the album and artist in the form of text or pictures.
4. Digipak Layout
• This is a flat plan template of one. To create
your own Digipak, you would have to create a
template which is quite similar to this one,
with correct measurements and with the 6
panels.
