A talk was arranged for the NSS Volunteers of the St. Pious Degree College, Nacharam, Hyderabad, on Healthy Youth – Healthy India. Two power point presentations were used for the lecture. For the first half an hour, the lecture went on in English, however, after verifying that all the students know Telugu, Telugu was also used for explaining certain aspects, which can be better appreciated when explained in the mother tongue.

The need for health, the need for physical, mental, spiritual health, how to obtain all-round health, were touched upon. The need for healthy development of the youth for the health and well-being of the nation was emphasized. Human values must be considered as important in the development of spiritual health. The explanation was given in the context of patriotism – how to be. 40 assets, that the youth must strive to acquire, were briefly explained. In the context of spiritual health, the concept of GOD was explained, briefly, in a secular manner.

You would be better able to appreciate the beauty and the purpose of the presentation when both the audio version, uploaded to www.archive.org [please search for Prof. V. Viswanadham], and the relevant power point presentation that can be viewed at www.scribd.com [please search for Viswam.vangapally4581] and / or www.slideshare.net/viswanadham and taken together as a package.

  5. 6. 1 The Power of ONE
  6. 7. 0 The Power of ZERO
  7. 8. The power of one Yes, one person can make a difference in the world. Even small contributions, can make a big difference - can mark the beginning of substantial change
  8. 9. BE THAT 1 PERSON Who can make a difference in the world. From 0 To HERO To INFINITY
  9. 10. Become KNOWLEDGABLE. It's easier to be ignorant and say that I don't know about the problem. But once you know, once you've seen it with your eyes, then you have a responsibility to do something. There is strength in numbers, and if we all work together as a team, we can be unstoppable. Together, we can make a substantial difference.

  14. 15. Physical health, and to some extent mental health too, can be improved by active participation in sports. Character, values, physical and mental strength are all challenged and improved in a short span of time. Sports can tell us a lot about ourselves as individuals and as a society.
  15. 16. Mental health, relatively speaking, is more important. It can be improved by developing positive attitude, engaging in healthy thinking, cultivating good habits, reading inspiring books, choosing good friends, and participating in good activities. Character, values, personality, attitudes, behaviour, etc. will all be improved.
  16. 17. Spiritual health, can be improved by practicing Human Values, such as, Love, Truth, Peace, Righteousness, Non-violence, etc.
  17. 18. Spiritual health, plays a significant role, in improving all-round health. It can be improved by traditional methods, such as participating in religious activities. Spirituality, is more abstract and to my mind, more important, in developing your spiritual health.
  18. 19. Improving simultaneously all aspects of health ~ Physical, Mental and Spiritual ~ will help an individual to become a constructive, contributing citizen. With such citizens, the whole country will become more vibrant, productive, developing and progressing in all respects.
