Wellness And Health
1. Wellness And Health
What does treating the body, mind, and soul mean to you? And why is it important? Treating the body, mind, and soul means to me having balance in
these areas because it contributes to a person's overall health and wellâbeing. The seven principles of wellness include "wellness is holistic, the self is
the only true healer, wellness is your responsibility, positivity is empowerment, wellness is an active process, wellness is outcomeâoriented, and
prevention eliminates the need for treatment" (Hopper, 2016). When treating a person whether in counseling or medically the whole person is
integrated into one which includes the body, mind, and spirit. Physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health among others contributes to our

Provide examples of how you treat the body, mind, and soul as you facilitate family and group sessions? How does treating the body, mind, and soul
in groups and families differ from when working with individual clients? When facilitating a group or family in therapy the body, mind, and soul are
treated by providing therapeutic services a social worker works with the groups and families to help them overcome problems and help them to make
changes and in doing so it improves the family and individual's wellâbeing and mental or emotional health or helps to resolve problems with behavior
and beliefs, or other things and improves relationships or people's lives by addressing the issues and finding solutions.
Counseling and therapy leads to wellness for the clients and improves their health and wellâbeing and that is done by encouraging the family and
group, empowering them, supporting them, and allowing them to help themselves. As a result, it often brings about positive changes and completion of
goals and gives the power and confidence back to the client that they might have lost and helps them to have a better future by helping themselves and
solving their own

2. Essay about Health and Wellbeing
In society today, there is an extensive range of definitions of health and wellbeing which can be seen as both positive and negative. A Holistic view
can also be identified and defined. These definitions of health have changed over time and will carry on changing within the future. According to
where a family lives or their social class everyone will have different meanings and views of health and wellbeing. This may be due to what one
person perceives as being healthy as another person may not. Channel 4 learning (no date) describes that a positive view of health can be seen as
when a person is more likely to achieve and sustain physical fitness from exercising and are mentally stable. Therefor a negative view can be
described when a...show more content...
According to Floyd, Mimms and Yelding (2008) Webster's Dictionary defines health as "the condition of being sound in body, mind and spirit...
freedom from physical disease or pain." This definition has very much taken the holistic view. Wellbeing is a term in which reflects on the positive
emphasis on health and can be broken down into six aspects know as environmental, physical, social, emotional, mental and spiritual. To achieve a
high balance of wellbeing it is vital that a person is able to balance and take care of each aspect effectively. Underdown (2007) implies that in 1948 the
World Health Organization(WHO) defines health as 'a state of complete physical, mental and social wellâbeing and not just the absence of disease or
infirmity.' This definition took a holistic view as it mentions mental and social wellbeing and it was supported as it focused on a person being healthy
rather than not being ill. However, this definition has been widely criticized. Seedhouse (1986) believed that for someone to be in perfect state of
health is unachievable and unrealistic.
There is a wide range of major genetic, social and environmental factors which influence the health and wellbeing of children in today's society.
According to The Marmot Review (2011) the more deprived the area or district which a child lives in, the more likely it is to have social and

Health and wellâbeing is a high priority in current health and social care provision. The importance of promoting health and wellâbeing is due to the
dramatically increasing trend of morbidity and mortality from health problems, illness and chronic disease. Physiotherapists have potentially a
significant role in the multidisciplinary health promotion arena. As physiotherapists can promote health in dynamic of ways and make contribution to
the community. The promotion of health to enable individuals suffers from illness or has chronic conditions to improve their potential for healthy
living. "Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social wellâbeing and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity." (WHO, 1948) Wellness

Due to their individual live is at a greater life quality. Quality of life can be defined as "individuals' perception of their position in life in the context of
the culture and value systems in which they live and in relation to their goals, expectations, standards and concerns." (WHOQOL, 1995).
Socioeconomic status tends to be inversely related to participation in leisureâtime physical activity, which may be related to people with low incomes
having less discretionary time and less access to exercise facilities and green spaces (McNeill et al., 2006) In developed countries, people tend to have
a sedentary lifestyle which can leads to higher levels of obesity, therefore lower overall wellâbeing. A study shown "The percentage of all deaths in
England with obesity on the certificate doubled from 0.11% in 1995 to 0.23% in 2006." (NHS choices, 2010) The researchers concluded: "There is an
emerging trend of increased certification of obesity as a cause of death in England." (NHS choices, 2010) Levels of obesity are increasing dramatically
and, if current trends continue, around 90% of men and 80% of women will be overweight or obese by 2050. (Black, DC, 2008).
Although countries differ greatly, "two thirds of the people 15 years and older in the European Union are not physically active at

4. Perspectives on Wellness Essay
What is wellness? "Wellness is an active process of becoming aware of and making choices toward a healthy life. Wellness is also a process for change
and growth" (Health Topic â What is wellness?). To have acceptable wellness you should have an equal amount of social, emotional/mental, and
physical health. I, myself, believe that I have an okay wellness, I mean not like full wellness but just enough to pass I'll say. But how am I living in
wellness?
There are different ways of living with wellness. My social health is getting better. I'm doing my best to be social with people. I occasionally like
talking to people, but it's better than not talking at all. My mental/emotional health I would say is good. Consistently I...show more content...
I mostly have acquaintances, people who I would talk to but won't tell them personal stuff. Anyways my physical health isn't the best. I keep having
of back pains, and sometimes chest pains that hurt like crazy. That is why my resolution is to exercise. I'm starting in Spring where I can do much
more stuff like play sports and go walking. It's also a great thing that I'm in gym, if I wasn't I wouldn't know about all the problems that could happen
to me if I kept being lazy. I judge my behaviors have something to do with my problems.
It is important to think about your behaviors because you need think about how it will affect you and the other person. If you call someone ugly and
say just kidding you don't know how that person will feel about you saying that. The person might be laughing now, but later they will look back at that
comment and start thinking about if they are ugly or not. There are people who can take jokes, there are people who can't. Just put together who is and
isn't. There are times in class when you are learning something, and there is that one person who wants to talk in class when you're learning. They aren't
thinking about how they are making others feel, just themselves. When you say something they start getting defensive for no reason. That's why you
don't say something. You can't do anything but tell the teacher, or just learn from them. Don't be the person who will hurt others education. They aren't
hurting anyone

5. Workplace Wellness Essay
INTRODUCTION
Health and wellness in the workplace is crucial to business success. Increasingly, it is recognized that the workplace itself has a powerful affect on
people's health. When people are satisfied with their job, they are more productive and tend to be healthier. When employees feel that the environment
