01 Introduction
Confucius :
“Education breeds confidence
Confidence breeds hope
Hope breeds peace.”
“ Knowledge is the food for
man because in absence of
knowledge man cannot
grow his food.”
The first thing that strikes into our mindset when we think
about education is gaining knowledge. Education is a tool
which provides people with KNOWLEDGE, SKILL,
TECHNIQUE,INFORMATION,enables them to know their
rights and duties toward their family, society as well as the
nation. It expands vision and outlook to see the world. It
develop the capabilities to fight against injustice, violence,
corruption and many other negative elements in the society.
Education gives us knowledge of the world around us. It
prepares us a perspective of looking at our life.
We have to go through many stages of education in our whole life.
From early childhood education, primary education, secondary
education, higher education, vocasional & technical education, etc.
There are many learning opportunities around us thus we have enter
workplace. There are still skill training, information learning, and
never ending learning pathway all the ways.
Why should we go to school?
Is that education so important in our
life?
Prof H.Mahmud
Yunus

Economic
Many young people have
pretty ideas of what type of
career they would like to
have as an adult. For that,
education will primarily
serve as means
01
for gaining the skills, training and essential knowledge to enter their desired
profession.
However, many youngsters will find the dilemma in making their choices in
courses. Most of the universities encourage incoming students not to select an
area of focus until after their freshman year, or in some other cases, their
ssophomore year. So,, even you are unsure what profession you are interested in
pursuing, you should remain mindful that academic environment offer one of the
best places to explore your oprions and make that choice.
Through the process in education such as studying, taking tests and completing
assignments, we are gaining important skills for life : -
 By setting aside time each day to study and doing assignments, you are
practicing self-disipline, something that will definitely come in handy when
you have to complete tasks of the job.
 When we work on the research thesis, we learn how to research a particular
topic. This research skills perfect us in the future when we need to research
our family’s illness, or a better way to run the business.
 Learn to embrace the writing assignments, prepare us the ability to
communicate effectively through certain types of writing-
letter/email,reports,presentations or speechs.
Economic
As a general rule, the more
education you earn, the
higher pay you will receive.
An educational person has
more chances of landing up a
02
a good high paying job. Everybody wants a good life but the good life! It may be
called as the “root of all evil” but most people will agree that money is important
for survival in today’s world.
An analysis of the economic returns to college since the 1970s demonstrates that
the benefits of both a bachelor’s degree and an associate’s degree still tend to
outweigh the costs , with both degrees earing a return about 15 percent over the
past decade. The return remaining high in spite of rising fee and failing earnings
because the wages of those without a degree have also been failing.

The Be nefits of Education
Health
Research by Virginia Commonwealth University, Americans with fever years of
education have poorer health and shorter lives, and that has neber been more true
than today. in fact, since the 1990s, life expectacy has decreased for people
without a high education and especially white women.
Education is not benefited us with higher paying jobs and economic productivity
but also for saving lives and saving dollars.

Saving Lives :
Policies that set kids up for success in education and life generally are smart
strategies for reducing the prevalance of chronic diseases, such as diabetes and
cardiovascular/heart diseases. Across all educational groups, gains in life
expectancy can be attributed to decreases in mortality at older ages. Mortality
among older people has been declining since the 1960s and the 1970s, largely
because of improvements in the treatment of heart and circulatory diseases that
are collectively referred to as the “cardiovascular revolution.” When we look at
the contributions of the age groups to these educational group differences, it is
clear that the highly educated benefited from this revolution the most.
For example :
Among Finnish men the difference between the highly educated and the
other educational groups was 4.4 years in the 1970s; at that time, only one-third of this
mortality gap was attributable to lower mortality after age 65. Some 35 years later this gap
has expanded to six years, and around 2.5 of these years are attributable to lower mortality
among the highly educated at old ages.
