PDHPE is becoming an increasingly important part of our
lives
Healthy lives = Happy lives
It is important that children learn how to live their lives in
the safest and healthiest way possible so that they have the
opportunity to be fit and healthy.
Its not just about being fit. Children need to learn how to
achieve and maintain mental, physical, social, emotional and
spiritual wellbeing.
3.
There are many benefits of learning PDHPE. They include:
Develops an understanding and valuing of self and others
It promotes movement and physical activity
Teaches healthy eating
Emphasises informed decision making that encourages responsibility
Concerns physical, cognitive, social and emotional growth and
development
Development and maintenance of personal relationships
Discusses factors influencing health and personal health choices
Living in a safe environment
Teaches children how to adopt a healthy lifestyle
Fundamental movement patterns and coordination
Develops skills in being healthy in general
4.
There is more to PDHPE than many people believe. It is not
just about playing games or sports and running around
It is also about personal development and health. Students
learn awareness of themselves and others, how to be safe in
a variety of situations, such as crossing the road or being
exposed to the sun, and teamwork. These are values that
will be with them throughout their whole life, not just while
they are young.
It is important that they develop these values at a young
age rather than later, so that they are able to protect
themselves from negative aspects in their lives.

just as important as science or maths, possibly even more
important!
Pack your child a healthy lunch, encourage them to go
outside to play and be a walk the talk. You are a big role
model to them
