songwriterandproducerFaye Meanais back ina big waywithfollow upEP, ShadesOf A Dreamer.
Intentionallyabite-sizedpackage,Faye explained, “InmymindIalwaysknew thatI wantednomore
than 6 tracks on the project..somewhere between4-6”.

On her inspiration,Faye explains, “Assomeone thatalwaysthinksaboutalot,the title of the
projectShadesOf A Dreamerkindafallsintothis,witheachtrackshowcasingadifferentshade of
thoughtthat I wasfeelingatthe time.Ialsowantedthe artworkon the projectto reflectthis.SoI added
2. a personal descriptionof whateachsongmeanttome, butI am alsovery much interestedinhearing
aboutthe differentinterpretationslistenersgetfromthe tracks”.
Vocally,Faye Meanaoozessoulful calmnesswhichattimesfeelslike she isgenuinelyhavingapersonal
conversationwithyou.Accompaniedbyspell-bindingsoul production,producedsolelybyFaye herself
withmanyparts of live instrumentation.Productionisaside of herskillsetthatshe iskeentobe
recognisedfor.She added, “Broadly,Iwouldliketobe knownasan artist that isrecognisedforbeing
more than justa singer.I sing,song-writeandproduce andall elementsare importantin how Iwishto
be rememberedasanartist”.
The intro track, The Truth tellsthe tale of a relationshipwhere the truthhasbeenmisconstrued
alongside the upsanddownsthatappearoff the back of this.From the jump,Faye isvocallyimpeccable
and the laid-backsoulfulsoundjustsetsthe tone forwhatisto come on the project.Faye explainedthat
thiswas possiblythe mostdifficultsongtocreate on the EP. “I was goingthroughsomethingatthe time
and reallywantedtoexplainthisinatrack. For me, the message lyricallybehindthe songwasmore
importanthere,hence whyIwantedareal strippedbackproduction.” Coventry-basedrapperMugun
featuresonthe track witha dope verse toadd balance to the track from a male perspective.
Track 2 is ‘Why’.Vintage neo-soulfeelsringthroughoutwithFaye Meanaagainillustratingherself asnot
onlyan artistwitha brilliantvoice butalsoasan impeccable lyricist.Fromstartto end,thistrack is
flawlessineveryway.
‘What You WannaDo’ optimizes everythingaboutFaye’ssound.Intimate instrumentationwhichmakes
youfeel like she isperforminginfrontof yourveryeyesanda melodicallyenchantingvoice that
continuestopull youinthroughout.Anothersolidtrack,whichfitsperfectlywithinthe theme of the
project.
‘UnrequitedLove’ isarguablythe highlightof whatisanall round tightlyknittedproject.Faye here
touchesonthe feelingof aone-waylove,andthe realisationof knowingthe one youlove willnever
trulybe yours.Yet again,the track poursgenuine soul pullingheavyonthe heartstrings.The punchy
bass line andmelodicpercussionmakesthisone aninstantheadbopper.
The 5th and final trackfrom the delightful projectis‘In TheMorning’.The leadsingle takenoff the
project, isan absolute anthemandwaspreviouslyfeaturedon Track of the Week. The track soundseven
betterwithinthe projectandisa brilliantwaytoendthe EP.
