Learning Filming and Editing Techniques from Constructing a Coursework Product
1. What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing
this product?
2. The camera we used for our
coursework was a Canon EOS600D. It
was a top of the range digital camera
which was very suitable for what we
needed it for. While using it I learnt
various filming techniques and things
that the camera was capable of
doing. I learnt how to darken and
lighten the lens depending on what I
wanted or needed. I also learnt how
to focus on certain objects depending
how far away they were from me. I
used the lens lightening technique
when filming a scene inside dark
corridor, we needed it to look lighter
and by using this function on the
camera I was able to make the image
lighter.
3. We used a tripod from Manfrotto
and it was easy to set up and use. It
enabled us to get a stable
viewpoint for our camera which let
the shots be level and not wobbly.
We also used lights to create a
different effect to the one we had
to deal with where we filmed. We
used it to lighten one side of a
corridor whilst the other side was
dark.
When using both I learnt how to set
them up and how they can help to
change and effect our film
positively.
4. We used a microphone to create a telephone
ringing sound to go over one of our shots. We
were unable to generate the sound in the
shot so it could not be diegetic. However with
the microphone we made it a non-diegetic
sound but the viewer wouldn’t notice this.
When using it I learnt how to effectively use it
and apply the settings according to the
scenario.
5. We used various different
software's to help create and
share our content, including:
Final Cut –To edit and create
our film and to piece together
each shot.
Garage band –To create a
soundtrack and song for the
background of our film.
Youtube –To share our video.
Wix –We used Wix to create
our website and share our
content and various other
parts of our coursework.
