5. What's on? (local Odeon)
• Currently at the Odeon the most common genre
showing is fantasy.
• This shows that the audience at my local Odeon
are mainly interested in films that heavily rely on
the imagination.
6. • When looking at the next closest Odeon it can be seen that the exact
same films are popular suggesting that both the audience have the
same interests.
7. Independent Cinema's.. What's on?
• From searching a number of independent cinema
sites (for example the BFI) drama films are most
shown as most popular.
• This shows that the audiences of mainstream cinemas
(the Odeon) differ from those that are independent.
8. • This could be due the fact that the films shown at independent
cinema do not necessarily follow the same trends as mainstream
cinema.
• Their audience is more concerned with more real life events.
• Most independent films are from the drama genre, which contrasts
with psych thrillers as psych thrillers mostly fiction however dramas
are mostly based on real life.
9. Film Festivals?
• Film festivals like independent cinema's tend
to play a lot of drama films.
• However, the film 'wind river' is a Thriller film
and therefore applies to my opening
sequences genre.
• Most films shown at film festivals are up and
coming and likely to win awards. For example,
at the canes film festival 84% of Palme d’Or
shortlisted films are dramas (2010-15). This
could be because that these are the most
common films shown; are the most popular
with the audiences at the festivals.

11. TV??? Thriller films
• When searching for commonly
shown films on Tv it was actually
hard to find films that are in our
specific sub-genre.
• However, American Psycho is
commonly shown alongside with
other well know general thriller
films like Mission Impossible
12. Where would our film be shown?
• It is more likely for our film to be shown in an independent cinema
than a mainstream cinema as most films shown in mainstream
cinemas are those which have a lot of money put into them as no one
will go to a cinema to see a low budget film.
13. • Furthermore if we wanted to try and get our film into a mainstream
cinema the easiest way for us to do this would be to get it played at a
film festival however, it is unlikely that it would be played here also.
14. • The most common place for small production films to played is at
young film makers competitions as this is were most small production
film makers start out this would be the most like institution that
would be willing to show our film.
15. • Although if we wanted to get our film to a large audience fast we
could use the internet as a main source of sharing, for example,
YouTube is a common place for sharing new unsupported films.
16. Let's be realistic...
• In the most realistic circumstance our film would probably be shown
at a young people's festival if it was created to a high standard.
• However, there is almost no doubt that it would be shown in forums
as the option of sharing in a forum is mostly down to the person
sharing it; if we wanted it to be shared there it could be.
