The document discusses the use of various hardware technologies in the planning, research, and evaluation stages of a coursework project. A Canon still camera was used to capture photos for a magazine and poster, using settings to adjust lighting and focus. A digital camcorder was used to record documentary footage, employing tools like zoom and a tripod to shoot from different angles. A sound mixer was utilized to create voiceovers that were added to the documentary, transferring audio between computers. Microphones were also used to record voiceovers onto an Audacity timeline.
1. How did you use new media
technologies in the construction and
research, planning and evaluation
stages?
2. Hardware:
To start the journey of our coursework, we used various
methods of hardware technology to capture the material we
needed in order to start editing and creating our coursework.
3. Still Camera
To capture the various photos used during the planning and research stages,
such as ones for the magazine and the poster, we used a Canon still camera.
We used various settings on the camera to adjust the level adjustment and
focus, as well as scene mode. At the same time as using the camera, another
piece of hardware used was a photography umbrella. This gave our photos a
clear picture and added depth to the light.
We found that there was an easy transition of the photos from the camera to
the computer once the SD card had been taken out.
4. Digital Camcorder
This camcorder was used to record the entire
documentary, using various tools such as
zoom and exposure and a tripod in order to
stand the camcorder up at different height
levels and shoot at various different angles,
such as over-the-shoulder shots and shot-
reverse-shot.
During the planning stage we shot various
scenes in order to find the best one for the
actual documentary.
Once had completed filming each section, we
took the SD card out of the camcorder in order
to transfer our footage onto the computer.
5. Sound Mixer
We used the sound mixer in order to create
voiceovers which we implemented into the
documentary over scenes such as Megan
walking into the Marriage Counsellors
office.
Despite having never used a sound mixer
before, we found it quite easy to transfer
the voiceovers created between computers
and then input them onto the
documentary itself, using the film software.
Other hardware used whilst creating these
voiceovers were the media studio’s
microphones, which recorded onto the
Audacity timeline.
