product and ancillary
texts?

I believe that the combination of my main product and
ancillary tasks are effective. As they work well as one in
promoting my artist as an up and coming star and also
promoting his hit new single ‘Remember My Name’
which is featured in the new album ‘Identity’. Through
both the main product and ancillary tasks I am able to
challenge the stereotypical iconography of a male R&B
artist which is usually seen topless and may have tattoos
and is wearing jewellery, and also my media products
allow me to challenge the convention of a slow R&B
song which would typically feature a sexy woman who is
seen in with the main artist in a sexual way, while
following the narrative. I do this by having my artist in a
simple clothing throughout the music video and the
ancillary pieces, also there are no other actors included
this allows for my artist to be main focus, and this helps
promote him as a person to the audience and not a sex
symbol

At the same time the simplistic and modern clothing
worn by the artist in both media products are effective,
due the fact that the implication of the style and mise
en scene is consistent in both texts as I chose to
challenge the codes and convention and give my artist a
more unique persona then one that is main stream and
in existing media products.

As mentioned going with one actor for my media pieces
made my product different and stand out more as a
typical R&B music video would include an array of
actors but never the artist alone, instead I made my
artist the main focus as he performed the in the music
video. Continuity is present between both the video and
ancillary tasks in order for my audience to familiarise
themselves with him and make him more known. The
images I portray of my artist allows the audience to
relate to my artist and this will increase the popularity
of my artist. This is evidence of how both media
products have worked together effectively.

There was an element of continuity in both ancillary
pieces in the deign choices I made. Although not being
connected to my music video the continuity of font and
design style is effective as it makes my work more
recognisable for the audience which is important is the
media product is to gain sales and attention.
