2. My music video clearly represents the Soul genre, by looking through the conventions of
a music video I found the narrative must reflect to the theme and meaning of the
lyrics, Goodwin stated the visual is to support the lyrics therefore the audience will be
able to understand the video more. I have done a live performance with a narrative set
in Central London towards South Bank, the location makes the video stand out and
references to my target audience, The music video shows emotion from the actress
this is to make the audience sympathise for her I find this video will appeal more to the
female population,
My music video refers to my two forms of advertisement with the warm spotlighting in the
video I selected a similar gold tone to put emphasis on my artist name on my digi-pak
and magazine advertisement.
I believe I have clearly demonstrated the meaning of my music video and have kept to a
consistent design throughout all of my products,
3. My magazine of advertisement reflects on the conventions of the Soul music genre and
the conventions of a magazine, as I have mention key details such as the date of the
albums release. Also including reviews from popular companies such as the
“Telegraph”, “Guardian” and “The Rolling Stones” each with a comment about the
album to persuade the audience to buy a copy, with the additional silver stars to give a
rating out of five. I have followed the colour scheme of my digi-pak using dark colours
with silver to compliment the darker tones, also the bright eye-catching tones from the
image of my performer, a similar golden tone is used for my artists name to make her
stand out through images and by her own name, this adds to the theme of star power.
With additional links to a Facebook page of my artist Emeli Sande and her Twitter
account, there will be more recognition for the fairly new artist.
I believe my magazine advert captures the attention of my target audience, following the
conventions of a magazine and the colour scheme used in my digi-pak this adds
consistency throughout my products.
4. I have referred to my magazine design with my digi-pak and have incorporated themes
and styles of my music video. Keeping to a black background referenced to the
original album design also a large photo of the artist is placed on a large side of the
front cover. I also incorporated the original track names from her album and placed
them clearly on the back with a flower pattern design on the sides of the image, this is
to add a feminine theme to the digi-pak, following the conventions of a music video I
have placed a bar code in line with the list to add to the design and structure of the
back cover.
The CD design is similar to the original albums design but I have added the flower patter
design to the disc having a section of the design overlap texts but not fully taking over
the disc. Keeping my colour scheme consistent the title of my artists name is
highlighted in a gold tone, as shown on the front cover. Copyright details are also
located on the disc following the conventions of a music video .
The inside cover design has a quote by my artist to represent the song’s in the album ,
she states you learn from your mistakes which leads you to be a better person. I
believed this allowed the artist to engage with the public this is another aspect of
conventions of a digi-pak
