How Can Help Change Our Perspective On Life
Gifts come in all ways, shapes and forms. Sometimes you don t even recognize that something or
someone has been giving you a gift, you only know that it makes you feel happy. Happiness in
itself is a gift that many different objects, people or places can give to someone. There are many
different things that give me happiness within one day, that is for certain. But there are
irreplaceable continuous gifts that live with us every single day, our animals. Whether you have a
dog, cat, horse, fish, ferret (the list goes on) everyone has felt some sort of happiness or
thankfulness for their animals. Not only do animals give back to us every day, but we also give
back to the animalswhich can help change our perspective on life and become a little bit more
selfless. This new creature solely relies on you to feed it, nurture it, shelter it, and love it for the
rest of its life. That alone can change someone to be more selfless and responsible because they
have to make sure that their animalcomes first in all that they do so that it is as happy as possible.
Knowing that you have to take care of this animal can make you more compassionate too, it
could open up a soft spot you may not have had before, especially if it was your first animal. This
is your gift to the animal, giving it the best life you possibly can. Animals can help people become
more responsible because they have something else they have to stay clean for, clean up after, and
take care of. We become more

Compare And Contrast The Picture Of Dorian Grey And The...
In both Oscar Wilde s The Picture of Dorian Grey and Alexandre Dumas s The Count of Monte
Cristo the main characters are lend to believe in a greater notion of life. Specifically, Oscar Wilde
and Alexandre Dumas appear to illustrate the idea that one cannot better themselves through
others. Both protagonists, Dorian Grey and Edmond DantГЁs fail to recognize and act on their
own fortune and, consequently, seek out to better themselves which eventually leads to their
downfall. In both The Picture of Dorian Grey and The Count of Monte Cristo we are introduce to
two young, fresh faced men who are yet to see enough of the world for it to negatively affect their

He is young and has the world at his fingertips, he was just promoted after docking, and engaged

all seems well and good in the being this only means that they have further to fall. Thought the
paths taken by Dorian and Edmond are different in execution they are both that of a dark and
twisted nature the leads to the same conclusion. For Dorian, his descent down a dangerous path
beings with the most dangerous thing of all knowledge. Specifically a book given to him by
Lord Henry a short time after meeting him which enlightens him to the self serving side of life
using his youth, charm, status and beauty to get what he wanted. This is the being of the end for
him as he takes it to far, driving everyone who could or did care about him away. With the his
descent into the darkness only being furthered by the realisation that though many years have past
he hasn t aged and he has remained externally beautiful, while the portrait done by Basil has
instead, but has been twisted and turned into something dark and unrecognizable. As for Edmond
his fall from grace is, surprisingly, not when he s betrayed by those three men or when he is sent
to a prison that he is never to leave again. No the being of his dark descent is when he learns that
by working with inmate in the cell over he could get out. It is at that moment Edmond beings

French Resistance To The Holocaust
The Holocaust happened during World War ll and was a bad time for anyone who was injured
during it. From the people in the concentration camps to all the people who were involved in
helping stop the acts from happening. This is such an important event in the history in the world
because it is the prime example of an attempt at genocide. With around six million people dieing
within twelve years. Although there were some groups trying to bring the Holocaustto an end an
example is the French Resistance groups. The term French Resistance is a term used for multiple
groups that were anti Nazi. Although there were many different groups all of the groups took

Karl Marx And The Bourgeoisie
Karl Marx infamous work called the Communist Manifesto has changed the way individuals see
their social statuses in a different types of societies. A bourgeoisie is known as the modern class
of capitalists. The bourgeoisie is a class of entrepreneurs, who fall under the class system
developed by the French. Individuals in this specific type of society are in charge of social
production and labor. The bourgeoisie have had an old antiquity with transforming how societies
view the market place. The upper hand which is being mentioned by Karl Marx, is the reference to
when the Bourgeoisie is given the power to control over a specific society. Although Karl Marx
has been in favor of having a classless society, he believes that those who are natural... Show more

Historical materialism plays a key role in deliberating the relations between economic production
and everything else that falls in society. Later in the Communist Manifesto, Karl Marx discusses
the concept of religion and how it ties into this image of capitalism. According to Marx,
capitalism is the worst situation any society can be placed with in. Religion plays another big role
in instigating materialism in such a society. Karl Marx adopted the concept of creating a division
of labor which works in a classless society, in order to determine which individual is capable of
what job. The transition between communism and capitalism involves the financing of personal
relations such as the relation of man and nature. The Proletariat, or also known as, the people go
hand in hand with the Bourgeoisie in a capitalist society. The justification of exploitation,
globalization, homogenization of culture, urbanization and political centralization all are
consequences of capitalism which Karl Marx warns capitalist societies

John Nash
John Forbes Nash, Jr. (born June 13, 1928) is an American mathematician whose works in game
theory, differential geometry, and partial differential equations have provided insight into the forces
that govern chance and events inside complex systems in daily life. His theories are used in market
economics, computing, evolutionary biology, artificial intelligence, accounting, politics and
military theory. Serving as a Senior Research Mathematician at Princeton University during the
later part of his life, he shared the 1994 Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences with game

After 1970 he was never committed to the hospital again and refused any medication. According
to Nash, the film A Beautiful Mind inaccurately showed him taking new atypical antipsychotics
during this period. He attributed the depiction to the screenwriter (whose mother, he notes, was
a psychiatrist), who was worried about encouraging people with the disorder to stop taking their
medication.[12] Others[who?], however, have questioned whether the fabrication obscured a
key question as to whether recovery from problems like Nash s can actually be hindered by such
drugs,[13] and Nash has said they are overrated and that the adverse effects are not given enough
consideration once someone is considered mentally ill.[14][15][16] According to Sylvia Nasar,
author of the book A Beautiful Mind, on which the movie was based, Nash recovered gradually
with the passage of time. Encouraged by his then former wife, De LardГ©, Nash worked in a
communitarian setting where his eccentricities were accepted. De LardГ© said of Nash, it s just
a question of living a quiet life .[17] Nash dates the start of what he terms mental disturbances to
the early months of 1959 when his wife was pregnant. He has described a process of change from
scientific rationality of thinking into the delusional thinking characteristic of persons who are

Research Paper On Liquid Latex
From the data we collected, it is clearly shown that by day 9 liquid latex preserved the most mass
in the pig foot. While the foot harbouring liquid latex only lost 77.9g of mass in 9 days, alcohol
lost 90.3g, formalin lost 91.6g, oils lost 87.6g, and phenol lost 129.3g. Expectantly, almost every
independent variable lost less mass than the control, which lost 127.2g. However, the unexpected
greater loss of mass in the leg containing Phenol may prove that there was experimental error in one
of our final measurements.
In addition, the results were not completely expected. Due to the new research on using plastic as a
preservative, we hypothesized that liquid latex would be the most effective at delaying
decomposition. When using plastication, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It performed more efficiently than phenol, alcohol, and oils but not as well as liquid latex. This
result could have been due to the fact that the formalin was not pure because it was previously
utilized for an unknown amount of time. Formalin has strong dehydrating and oxidizing agents. Its
purpose is to be used as a disinfectant, a germicide, and it fixes/preserves tissue cells. Additionally, it
combines with proteins, inactivating them, and kills them. It preserves efficiently due to the fact
that it penetrates deep into the tissue, kills present bacteria, helps prevent future bacteria, and
assists with retaining the tissue structure (Mercer County Community College, 2016). In our
experiment, it lost about 14.13%, or 91.6g of its original mass while liquid latex lost 13.81% ,
phenol lost 19.05%, oils lost 14.46%, and alcohol lost 17.00%. In other words, it was a close
second but not quite as advanced as liquid latex. The last measurement of formalin was recorded
to have lost 14.13% and finish with a mass of 549.95g compared to 640.45g. With this knowledge
we feel that the formalin could have potentially been more effective if we had used unused formalin.
Concluding our experiment, it was apparent that liquid latex achieved maximum use at delaying
the mass loss of the foot. Formalin performed fairly decently while oils only had moderate success
and quality. On the contrary, phenol and alcohol performed indecently and lost much more mass in
comparison with liquid latex which had more efficacious results.Whether or not the data was
skewed from maggots, incorrect calculations, or ineffective materials, the results convey a fairly
reliable source of facts and statistics based on

Festivals as Ways to Learn About Faith Essay
Festivals as Ways to Learn About Faith Pesach is the biggest of the three pilgrim festivals, along
with Sukkot and Shavuot and these all commemorate the period in history that the Jews pilgrimed
from Egypt to the Promised Land of Israel.
The first day of Passover is the same day as the commemoration of the destruction of the temple and
this is insisted by the Talmud.
The symbolism of the name Passover reminds Jews of the tenth plague, the killing of the first born

The new Pharaoh s council was called about the situation with the Israelites and they gave him
strong advice to enslave the children of Israel so he could gain total control over this foreign race
who were becoming too powerful in a land where they were not wanted. Pharaoh limited the
freedom of the Hebrews and laid heavy taxes upon them. He then recruited their men into forced
labour, slavery, under the supervision of harsh taskmasters.
The children of Israel were now forced to build cities, erect monuments, construct roads, work in
the quarries, and hew stones or make bricks and tiles. However, the more the Egyptians
oppressed them, and the harder the restrictions imposed upon them became, the more the
children of Israel multiplied. Finally, when King Pharaoh saw that forcing the Hebrews to do
hard work did not succeed in suppressing their rapidly growing numbers, he ordered that all
newly born male children of the Hebrews to be killed, the midwives disobeyed and so they were
made to throw the child into the Nile river. Only daughters were allowed to live.
The Pharaoh grew paranoid, after being told by his personal astrologers, that a new leader of Egypt
was to be born from an Israelite. This was taken as a strong danger to the

city . . . and they have to straighten it all out for one evening. In 1996 La Cage aux Folles (a
1978 French play) was remade by MGM into The Birdcage, a daringly flamboyant comedy that is
in tune with the times and redefines the idea of family values. It combines the talents of Robin
Williams (Armand), Nathan Lane (Albert), and Hank Azaria (Agador) with writer Elaine May and
director Mike Nichols. The film is brought to life by the superb uniqueness of each character and
what they bring to the screen and add to the plot. This film sheds a new light on non traditional but

With Albert every little thing that happens is tragic, resulting in a hysterical screech, whine, or
theatrical woe is me pout. He keeps himself on the verge of a nervous breakdown to make sure
he s got everyone s attention. Albert is so maternal he s practically a breast (Nichols) and has been
the sensitive and devoted mother to Armand s son Val (Dan Futtermann) for twenty years. These
attributes cause him to be a truly unique character to both this film and his previous endeavors.
The true beauty of Albert is his fearless presentation of himself. He is who he is and of that he is
proud.
Williams is far more sedate in this film than how we re used to seeing him. He s not swooping
around the screen as he was in Aladdin, nor is he prancing around in a dress like in Mrs.
Doubtfire. In The Birdcage he plays wonderfully (and flawlessly) alongside Lane as Armand, the
masculine half of the couple and father to Val. He is far more subdued (though he does do an
uproarious on stage dance demonstration involving the moves of Martha Graham, Twyla Tharp,
Michael Kidd, Madonna, Madonna, Madonna . . . ) (Nichols) and down to Earth than Albert.
Armand spends most of the movie chasing after Albert and smoothing his ruffled feathers when his
overly sensitive feelings have been hurt. When Val s fiance s (Calista

Analysis Of America By Claude Mckay
Claude Mckay was an African American poet originally from Jamaica, and an important figure in
the Harlem Renaissance, writing about his experience with racism and the bigoted society in
America. America, written by the poet Claude Mckay, was published in the year 1921. The 1920 s,
also known as the Roaring Twenties, were a time of great wealth and jubilee before the fall of the
economy during the Great Depression at the end of the decade. But underneath this surface of
contentment, there was a dark side that Americans did not care to address in society. The Jim Crow
lawswere in full force and took away many rights of African Americans, ostracizing and belittling
them. Claude Mckay was a voice of retaliation against this hatred, and America is all about the
duality of Mckay s feelings towards America. Since Mckay is from Jamaica, he has a unique
perspective as an immigrant to a country that is supposed to be welcoming. It s a constant push
and pull between love and hatred of what this country has to offer. The title of this poem,
America, blatantly shows what this poem is going to be about. America is a sonnet comprised
of three quatrains and a couplet, which results in 14 lines total. He also uses the iambic
pentameter which consists of a short syllable followed by a stressed syllable, which gives the
poem a sort of rhythm. A quatrain is a stanza with alternating rhymes, and this is demonstrated
with the last words of the first and third, second and fourth, lines of each quatrain rhyming with
each other (a b a b c d c d e f e f g g). Mckay begins the poem by expressing his contempt towards
what America has done to him in the first quatrain. The pronoun She is used to personify America
as a woman or a motherly figure who feeds him the bread of bitterness . America also sinks into
my throat her tiger s tooth which provides an imagery of a huge feline biting into Mckay s throat
with no warning. The poet depends on his nation to provide him with the basic necessities to
survive, but instead he receives injustice. Yet he says he loves this cultured hell that tests my youth
which uses cultured hell as an oxymoron for America s sophisticated and wayward aspects. This
line in the first quatrain

The Crying Of Lot 49
Trystero and the world around Oedipa are only simulations due to the fact that they have become
so layered with hyperrealism and even more simulations with all the characters Oedipa meets. She
is convinced that she is either uncovering a powerful conspiracy or she is going insane, but willing
to go wherever her investigation leads her in order to find meaning and truthbehind it anyway.
However, for Baudrillard, ...it is dangerous to unmask images, since they dissimulate that fact that
there is nothing behind them (Baudrillard 169). In other words, in Oedipa s quest to unmask the
clues she finds, they are all simulations based upon other simulations without any truthful meaning
at their core.
The Crying of Lot 49 depicts these layers of simulation through the clues Oedipa finds that are
supposed to reveal the truth behind the word Tristero. Her first introduction to the word Tristero
comes from her encounter of the painting, Bordando el Manto Terrestre. The real life painting by
Spanish exile, Remedios Varo, which depicts women, embroidering a kind of tapestry which
spilled out the slit windows and into a void, seeking hopelessly to fill the void (Pynchon 11). A
further analysis is that she herself is one of these women in the painting, forever weaving the clues
and signs she receives, but ultimately attempting to fill an infinite void.
Next, Oedipa hears the word Trystero in a play called The Courier s Tragedy (Pynchon 49) Then
she sneaks backstage to find

Stereotypes And Prejudice Essay
How does this work?
At first I had to distinguish the difference between a stereotype and being prejudice. According
to the authors of our text Sensoy and DiAngelo, prejudice is a learned prejudgment about
members of social groups to which we don t belong. It is also based on limited knowledge about
a group of people. Judgments are made based on these prejudices and applied to everyone in a
social group. The learned prejudgment that our authors are talking about is what is referred to as a
stereotype. A stereotype is a belief about a certain group of people, while prejudiceis a feeling based
on their membership to a certain group with a stereotype.

Gaining knowledge about a social group is a path to minimizing the effect of our prejudice, which
can lead to discrimination.
One of our assignments assigned in the course called the Funds of Knowledge I believe is a way
to get us to gain knowledge about a social group within our school and see how we can use this
knowledge to minimize the effect that our stereotypes in our classroom.
What explicit and implicit valuing of certain groups (p. 30) do you notice in your school or
elsewhere? Are there social benefits and penalties associated with them?
I don t know if I see a lot of explicit valuing of any group of students at my school. I know through
the Positive Behavior Intervention Support initiative explicit praise is given for following
procedures and meeting expectations.
I think I see more implicit valuing being done. This could be in the form of using stereotypes of
social groups when it comes to dealing with parents. I have heard teachers talking about parents
and placing them in stereotypes before getting to know them. An example would be oh yeah my
new student s parents just moved into Shadow Brook . This is another way of saying they are
poor, because that area is low

The numbers are quoted on their
Web sites and in their corporate documents with a tremendous sense of pride. However, becoming
diverse should not be thought of as a goal. In reality it s a train that has
already left the station.
So what does diversity mean in today s corporate world? Many organizations have rapidly become
diverse. With shifting populations in the United States, achieving diversity doesn t require much
effort.
But for many, diversity is still a code word for affirmative action. Many companies have
developed diversity programs, but their only metric for success is measuring the hiring and
promotion of women and people of color. Yet progressive companies understand that diversity
management extends far beyond hitting the numbers or compliance. It includes a wide range of
activities designed to proactively create an inclusive work culture succinctly described by the U.S.

An Explanation Of A Case On The Law Of The Existence Of An...
To deny the existence of an agreement between the testator and the intended trustee would be to
commit a fraud, and, providing the trust complies with the requisite conditions, unrealistic to
uphold a strict reading of statute to allow the trust to fail. As previously stated, another equitable
principle says equity follows the law in the event of conflict, equity may circumvent the common
lawbut it does not seek to override it. It only intervenes if there is a risk of an unconscionable result,
like the denial of a testator s wishes. As Hudson notes the purpose of equity is to introduce fairness
in circumstances in which statute might permit unfairness thus is not surprising that the Courts
have applied the principle to secret trusts in this way.
An alternate (but weaker) theory: dehors the will
However, it is false to state that is solely thus equitable principle that enables the enforcement of
secret trusts. An alternative theory is that they arise, dehors, or, outside of the will. It was stated by
Danckwerts J in Re Young, in holding a secret trust valid, that in fact the whole theory of the
formation of a secret trust is that the Wills Act has nothing to do with the matter.
This theory fundamentally argues that the trust is affirmed inter vivos, that is to say during the
testator s lifetime, and not through the will, and the will is merely is formalisation of the transfer.
It thus follows the trust is created dehors the will and is not opposing Wills Act.

states that Lyman Spitzer Jr. dreamed of a telescope that could snap crystal clear views of the
universe. This telescope would be able to reveal clearer images of far off objects than any of the
telescopes we have on Earth. This telescope was eventually known as the James Webb Telescope.
This proves that it can help things see objects that can t be seen by humans because the Earth s

My evidence proves that the JWTS can help search for these things because even though we
have many infrared telescopes on Earth, the best place to do it is in space, because of how
bright the atmosphere glows in infrared light. This will allow us to better understand how the
universe, galaxies, stars, and planets came to be. Also, infrared light pierces through layers of
dust that can hide objects in space, allowing the Webb, with its cutting edge technology, to see
the objects that are hidden. This proves we can use EMR to see things that can t be seen
because the universe is expanding, and visible light stretches as it travels through space, turning
it into infrared light. Which makes distant stars and galaxies seem out of sight. Not to mention,
Webb s vision will be able to see the flicker of the first galaxies popping into existence in the
early universe. It will chart the growth of galaxies from being shapeless masses to being huge
spiral shapes that may be home to new planets and solar systems. This ties in with the question,
how galaxies, planets, and stars came to be because this telescope will be able to see the birth of
galaxies and continue to watch it

The Colonization Of Uganda And Kenya
1.Introduction
The colonization of Uganda and Kenya is the reason why they are bilateral countries meaning they
share many of the same interest such as political interest, economic interests etc... Being colonized
by the United Kingdom has affected their history forever, and has made it extremely difficult to be
in the same state as the rest of the world but also allowed both countries to be close with each other
as they shared the same experiences. As they gained their independence, they later formed an East
African Community along with Tanzania who was also colonized by the UK which created many
benefits in the long run. In this paper, I will investigate the benefits of the East African Community
over time specifically with Kenya s and Uganda s trade with coffee.
1.1.Coffee History
Coffee trees were first introduced by the French which were located near the capital of Kenya,
Nairobi. Nairobi was used as the nucleus around which Kenyan coffee growing developed. The
British and European farmers became rich by farming coffee on the backs of the Kenyan workers.
With more experience, Kenyan farmers became more and more powerful. With over 1 million
Kikuyu tribe members calling it home they had real land claims according to the Europeans.
While Arabica was introduced at the beginning of the 1900 s, Robusta coffee is indigenous to the
country, and has been a part of Ugandan life for centuries. Over time growing coffee was not seen
as a job but more of a fun activity to do

Similarities Between Constantine The Great And Qin Shihuangdi
Constantine was called Constantine the Great and Qin Shihuangdi was the emperor of the Qin
dynasty; each of these men was leaders of their country and each is similar and as much as they
may be similar in their title s they were different. Constantine the Great was a man that lead an
empire that persecuted Christians, which he later put an end to the persecution of Christians. Qin
Shihuangdi was a leader in his country, he had interests in magic, he dished out cruel punishments,
ruled with strict laws, and was believed to have created shrewd military policies. Each of these
leaders was seen as good leaders, however, they did use harsh methods to control their people and
rule their country. A tomb for Qin Shihuangdi was constructed, which had terracotta soldiers and
horses to protect his tomb (Hoh, 2001, p. 35). Constantine I, upon his death was buried in
Constantinople (Freeman, 2001, p. 1).

The Zone Diet Analysis
The Zone Diet was created by Dr. Barry Sears to reduce diet induced inflammation. The Zone is
a psychological state in the body that can be measured in different tests. If the dieter is in the
zone they have optimized their ability to control diet induced inflammation. The inflammation
is the reason the person gains weight, becomes sick, and possibly aging faster. There are three
clinical markers that define if a person is in a zone, if all three are not met then the person is not
considered in the zone. To be in the zone a person s TG/HDL level needs to be less than one, AA
/EPA ratio between 1.5 and 3, and HbA1c at 5%. The Zone Dietrequires that the person balances

The Rational Model Of Organizational Decision Making Essay
CHAPTER TWO PROJECT EXECUTION AND EXPERIENCE 2.1Schedule of Activities of
Students for the Project Work 2.2Explanation of Theories Used Organizational decision making
is defined as the process of responding to a problem by searching for and selecting a solution or
course of action that will create value for organizational stakeholders. Decision making is a
critical responsibility in leadership and the ability to make the right decisions is imperative to
the success of every organization. Over the years, various models and theories have been
developed to explain how organizations make decisions. This paper shall consider a few of the
models and explain how these models and theories apply in the context of the topic of this
research. I.The Rational Model of Organizational Decision Making This model is based on the
logic of optimal choice: the choice that would maximize value for the organization. The manager is
assumed to be an objective, totally informed person who would select the most efficient alternative,
maximizing whatever amount and type of output s/he values. We can summarize the rational
choice process as follows: 1. An individual is confronted with a number of known alternative
courses of action. 2. Each alternative bears a set of possible consequences. These consequences are
known and are quantifiable. 3. The individual has a system of preferences or utilities that permits
him or her to rank the consequences and choose an alternative. There is

Descriptive Essay About Breakfast
Every morning, my son Pete wakes up at 6:30 AM. I have 2 ВЅ hours to get us both ready for the
day, which seems like it should be plenty of time. But each day the nanny arrives at 9, and I m
never ready to leave! So I started making these freezable breakfast sandwiches to help me get out
the door faster.
I m a personal chef, so I m really fast in the kitchen. Before I had Pete, I never really understood
why people said that they didn t have time to cook breakfast in the morning. Scrambling an egg
takes no time at all! But now I realize, you have to clean the pan, the spatula, your plate, and also
eat the eggs with a fork in your kitchen, all while trying to wrangle the baby in the other arm. In this
new reality, minutes matter.
Finding a quicker breakfast solution
So I wanted a quicker and cleaner way to get my fuel in the morning. While oatmeal and granola
can be nice occasionally, my go to breakfast will always include eggs. They give me longer lasting
energy, plus I almost always prefer savory to sweet. I needed a way to have my eggs quickly,
without having to do any of the actual cooking in the morning. Ideally, something that could be
made in a big batch and frozen in individual portions.
Strata was an early contender. This Vegetable, Egg and Cheddar Strata recipe is one I make for
clients often and it freezes beautifully. But there s a lot of up front prep, a long cook time, and it
still requires a plate and fork. I also considered quiche, my personal brunch favorite. It didn t
make the cut for the same reasons. So then I started thinking of the breakfast sandwiches they
serve at Starbucks. They re pre made, pretty tasty, and always hit the spot when I need a quick
breakfast. I decided to make my own version that I could enjoy at home for a third of the price per
sandwich.
The beautiful thing about these breakfast sandwiches is that they are completely customizable.
Ham, sausage, bacon, turkey bacon, and veggie sausage are all great options. Cheddar is my
favorite cheese choice, but you can use any sliced cheese that melts well. You can even mix
cooked veggies into the eggs to increase your morning fiber intake. Once you get the overall
method down, it s easy to switch it up.

The Negative Effects Of Violence In Video Games
Think about it. Does violence in violent video games or role playing games increase violence and
aggression in the real world? Undoubtedly, violent role playing games nowadays are more intense
than ever. These role playing games with simulated violence are perilous for the kids. Surprisingly,
In a simulated role playing gamecalled Killer , students play by shooting each other with water guns
to win money. Author Guy Martin write High Jinks: Shoot Out and tells us about this vehement
game. Games like Killer and other violent video games encourage violence. Not only do they
encourage violence, but they can actually harm the individual playing and distract teens from more
important things like school. Video games can be an opposing factor for many reasons.
According to the text High Jinks: Shoot Out by Guy Martin, the game Killer has a poor effect
on the kids playing and encourages violence. In the text, Martin explains how Killer is a last man

short term. By saying this, she assures that the behavior of individuals can change over time after
constantly playing video games with violence and they can become more aggressive. In the end of

The Victorian Era
Art Historian, Daniel Siedell said, In such a society as the Victorians , when public society is so
stifling, steam is naturally going to be driven underground. The reform of the Victorian era, a time
in England of refinement and high decorum surrounding the years of Queen Victoria s reign, did
not produce revolution but the opposite: stagnation. And so at this time in England there were
ingredients present to create a real revolution and bring a dismantling of the Victorian spirit, but
they were underground and silent. Oscar Wilde aimed to bring that underground movement above
ground through flagrancy. Wilde s innovative faith as well as shocking literature were two gears
of the same vehicle. They were gears dependent upon each other to bring anti Victorian
aestheticism to the surface of English society and culture. Oscar Wilde s literary revolt against
propriety paralleled his unconventional view of religion both were a rejection of law and an
embrace of beauty.
In as much as Wilde influenced The Victorian eraand what came thereafter, the Victorians society
in England was Wilde s environment and the cause of who he was. The era, during and around
when Queen Victoria was on the throne in England, was characterized by what they thought was,
revolution. It was grounded on delicacy, refinement, good words, and all other forms of high
decorum that reflected the prosperous bourgeoisie according to Walter Murdoch, a prominent
Australian academic and essayist (18). In a

The Importance Of Human Nature In Of Mice And Men
Stories and other literary forms are often used to showcase different aspects of human nature. John
Steinbeck uses the story Of Mice and Men to display the truth behind human aspirations and
emotions. Steinbeck exhibits both the kindness and the cruelty that lies within everyone. Through
both symbolism and direct statements, the readers can understand the different struggles and
motives of each character. Of Mice and Men shows the world through the perspective of many
people from different backgrounds, including workers, women, the mentally ill, and colored
people. Though the characters appear drastically different, they all have dreams and yearn to
belong. In Of Mice and Men, Steinbeck is trying to show the importance of friendship, the
impossibility of the American dream, and the discrimination in the 1930 s. Many characters in the
story go without friendship, causing them to feel alone in the world. George and Lennie are the
only characters introduced that stick together. George and Lennie say multiple times that we got a
future. We got somebody to talk to that gives a damn about us (Steinbeck 14). Their friendship is
what makes them different from all of the other men because they have someone else to rely on. On

How Do Church Buildings Have Changed Over Time
The church structures have changed drastically over time. In the beginning of the Church History,
places of worship were simple stone buildings, with the primary focus being on praising God and
having a place to hold the sacraments. Monasteries were a common worship center as well. The
simple designs have been revamped. By the time of the Renaissance, churches were created to be
magnificent places for prayer and to give thanks to God. Since then, churchstructures have only
progressed in design. These designs can vary dramatically depending on the location of the church.
However, all churches share some of the same building and design techniques. Stain glass
windows, for example, are some of the most beautiful features found in many churches today.
Valuable features like these create the elegance of these buildings. Some of the most elaborate

Five Forces Analysis Of Glothing Industry
5 forces analysis of clothing industry
This section analyzed and shown the existing significant strength of competitive forces within the
apparel industry in Europe. The collective strength of the existing forces defines the profitability of
the incumbents and the new player in the industry (Mann Byun 2011).
Entry barriers: High/Low
Often time, new players brings new resources which can force product price down and as well
reduce profitability of the industry (Mann Byun 2011). Therefore, incumbents on the defending side
raise the threat for new players. The existing retailers safeguard their position by aggressively
expanding their production differentiation in the aspect of brand loyalty, brand identification,
customer service, quality and advertisement. By so doing the existing firms can achieved
significant economy of scale. Once achieved, it would be difficult for new players to immediately

Communities may be a home away from home for some members with their own terminology
and varying degrees of formality. These groups are usually joined by people for different reasons,
some ranging from socializing to the acquisition of a single dream the group shares. Some groups
even have members who are either expert in their communities focus or are members who are eager
and ready to learn. For some of these communities, this form of communication and other factors is
what defines them as a discourse community. However, there are communities that share some trait
of discourse communities yet they themselves are not. Due to these strict rules about what can and
cannot be a discourse communitycan be hard to discern. Like, for instance, the... Show more content

It may seem that each and every member within the subreddit is working towards a greater
whole, however, that impression is wrong, with the exception of the moderators. Most of the
participants within the community are people who come to the subreddit to post their
grievances with life and or find people who are in a similar position to them in no way are they
experts on the subject of clinical depression nor are they licensed to deal with those who do
maybe with the exception f the moderators. There is no greater goal, no grand plan for the
community there just exists a kinship for those who need it. Most if not all members are helpful of
those who post, for example, the quote below
I recommend finding a depression test. Mine is in a book, but you can find one somewhere
online. Taking the test helps me a lot when I feel that way. I know that the questions were written
by people who are familiar with depression when I get a score that lines up with depression, I

Manmade Disasters and Insurance Coverage
The problem at hand is the mitigation of man made disasters, and the lessening affect on humanity
by natural disasters. Many man made disasters are instigated by a natural disaster that a population
is well aware of, yet they choose to ignore the risk because they are not personally involved or
think it will not happen to them. Up to now the alternatives have basically focused on remediation
by the governmentafter the fact. Somehow we have come to believe that if we build our house on a
sandbar that the government will make us whole when the hurricane washes it into the ocean. This
is faulty on so many levels. Government responsibility is an oxymoron in itself. In an article by
James Payne, he cites numerous incidents of the government being irresponsible and actually
causing more damage to the environment and populations because of mismanagement and poor
oversight (James, 2010). There is an inherent conflict of interest in hoping that your government
will protect you since the government requires funding and that funding can be hampered by
restricting business and construction. Your life and property becomes a riskthe government is
willing to take in exchange for development and taxes. Insurancecompanies provide another
alternative to this problem but they too are hindered by governmental regulations intended to help
people. Once again governmental agencies have infringed on the private enterprise ability to
resolve a problem. Left to their own devices insurance

The Theory Of Progress And Its Components
The optimism of some human s nature has brought forth interpretations such as the progress theory
to reflect it. Looking back on the world and prescribing that it was a primitive existence compared
to the present is an interpretation that has held some ground until the face of adversary reveals
itself. The progress of human history near the common day is not a straight linear progression that
hits abstract checkmarks of movements and revolutions, but it is a more complex study. Historians
such as J.B. Bury, Herbert Butterfield, and John Lukacs talk about the theory of progress and how it
manifests in historical writings. The scientists, C.P Snow wrote in the Two Cultures a framework
of mind of the significant revolutions in science. The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The ability to look at the past and its developments is invaluable to see the developments play out
and see how progress is a limited ideal. The past might be crystallized now in textbooks, but the
people of the past did not have the future at their grasp to evaluate. The abridgement between time
periods and movements are not times that we can consider as straight forward progressions, but
times in their own right and merit. The luxury of looking back into the past is a convenience
that allows the historian, student, or teacher to read into the times, but that convenience also
draws lines where causes and effects were not as simple. The tendency to patch the new research
into the old story even when the research in detail has altered the bearings of the whole subject is
an effect of the convenience and discredits the past with comparisons to the present. The past is
also held to a standard that keeps the present wondering on how this preceded it. When studying
the past it is desirable to see one s time as superior and one that is pioneering the mantle of
progress, but this is not so when the direction that follows is not a desired one such as Snow s
description of the sciences where if the scientists have the future in their bones, then the traditional
culture responds by wishing the future did not exist. This is common since We live forward, but
we can only think backward , but

San Juan Persuasive Essay
In the wake of Hurricane Maria that struck Puerto Rico, the mayor of San Juan has accused
President Trump of not providing sufficient relief efforts to the U.S island. On Saturday
September 30, Trump sent a series of tweets saying that, The mayor of San Juan, who was very
complimentary only a few days ago, has now been told by the Democrats that you must be nasty
to Trump. Such poor leadership ability by the mayor of San Juan, and others in Puerto Rico,
who are not able to get their workers to help. They want everything to be done for them when it
should be a community effort. 10,000 Federal workers now on Island doing a fantastic job.
Mayor of San Juan, Carmen Yulin Cruz, said later Saturday morning in an interview with MSNBC
that, I was asking for help. I wasn t saying anything nasty about the President. The situation quickly
spread across Twitter where creator of the Broadway musical Hamilton , Lin Manuel Miranda,

Yulin Cruz s story about how Trump is abandoning Puerto Rico doesn t match with what he has
seen out of recovery efforts. However, even if Yulin Cruz is fabricating a story to get people
onto her side, I do not agree with Trump s handling of the situation. Instead of posting tweets
about how she wants all of the work done for her, he should have waited until Tuesday where he

Why Cursive Needs To Go
Cursive Needs to go
How many people use cursive for day to day writing, probably not a lot of people. Most people
keyboard and print. Maybe sometime later bills will be paid on computers and checks won t
require cursive. This passage will include how much percent of people use cursive compared to
print, why cursive shouldn t be added back to standards, and why cursive is a dead skill. Cursive
is a dead skill because, most teachers never taught or stoped teaching to their students. The reason
cursive needs to go is because there is no reason why educators should add cursive to Common
Core because it undermines the strength of standards. In the article Let Cursive Handwriting Die it

Most people think that cursive is great however, why use cursive when it s a dead skill. Most
people keyboard too. Teachers should be focused on teaching their kids the skills in common core
but, if they have time to teach then teach but other than that don t teach it. Speaking of common
core it s full of skills that need to be taught over cursive these skills include math, science(biology,
earth, etc.), Language Arts, Social Studies. This has been the last reason why cursive should die.
Cursive is a dead skill because teachers don t teach their students it anymore and nobody uses
cursive. These things were mentioned in this passage, How much percent of people use cursive,
why it shouldn t be added back to the common core, and why cursive is a dead. Cursive is indeed a
dead skill why try to bring something back that s dead. Nobody uses it and it s hard to

A martyr is someone who is killed because of their religious or other beliefs. A famous martyr
that many people look at in the church today is Saint Stephen. Stephen was often called the
protomartyr, or the first martyr of Christianity. Stephen s original name in Greek is given as
Stephanos meaning crown . This is given to him because he is invested with a crown on
martyrdom. If you want to learn more about Stephen you can find him in the New Testament in the
Acts of Apostles. He is mentioned in Acts as one of the Greek speaking Hellenistic Jewsselected to
participate in a fairer distribution of welfare to the Greek speaking widows. According to the Acts

Rosencrantz And Guildenstern Are Dead And Hamlet Analysis
Shakespeare and Stoppard were one of most well known playwrights during their respective
centuries they lived in. Shakespeare s publication of Hamlet became a very popular play to read
and watch. In Hamlet, the main character, Prince Hamlet, is in a great dilemma. His father is killed
by his uncle Claudius, so then Claudius is able to take the throne and become the King of Denmark.
Hamletfinds this out from the ghost, and Hamlet is not sure how to avenge his father s death or
whether he should even attempt to. In Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, the main characters,
Rosencrantz and Guildenstern, engage in philosophical conversations about the afterlife and free

Guildenstern says, ... it would be presumptuous of us to interfere with designs of fate... (Stoppard

that they can just follow the script. The Player says, Follow directions there s no choice involved
(Stoppard 80). So both of the plays share the same concept with the theme of fate vs. free will. In
both plays, the main characters believe that they can t control their destiny and that they are born to
follow instructions. Both of the main characters accept their fate, but there is a huge difference in
how they accept their fates. Rosencrantz and Guildenstern do a coin toss and coin lands heads 156
times in a row. Rosencrantz doesn t question this and just blindly accepts it. The characters have no
wit and just think everything is controlled by fate. On the other hand, Hamlet analyzes what his fate
is and actually understands his fate. He understands his duty towards his family, and does not
happily accept his fate, but yet he accepts it. He questions what the ghost tells him to do. He
questions validity of the ghost s statement by putting Claudius in that mousetrap. After he finds out
the ghost was speaking the truth, he then accepts his fate. In Tom Stoppard s Rosencrantz and
Guildenstern Are Dead, the theme of fate vs. free will is incorporated from Shakespeare s of
Hamlet. Both the novels depict the theme similarly by expressing that fate is

Renaissance Music Critical Analysis
Critical Analysis Assignment The use of vibrato in music stemming from the Late Renaissance
music is highly debated. Christopher Jackson s article entitled An Examination of Vibrato
discusses the issues revolving around the use of vibrato in music from the Late Renaissance time
period. The author s goals isn t to arrive at a side of the matter. However, he clearly states that he
wishes to shed some new light on the views of these two opposing schools... I believe this article is
meant for both musicologists and choral directors alike. The musicof this time period is still being
performed to this day and each performance varies due to different interpretations of a particular
piece. This article can serve as a great tool for advising choral directors on specific decisions they
must make within a piece regarding the use of vibrato. The article can also be directed to
musicologist who have had debates about this vocal technique. Without any clear resolution, it
leaves the question open ended, however, it does give insight on the two sides which helps inform
musicologists who favor a particular idea about the other argument.
I do not know much about performing or interpretations of Late Renaissance music. Normally,
when I do pieces from this time period that have the issue of whether or not to perform with
vibrato or straight tone, my vocal instructor tells me to always go for vibrato. That being said, I
guess I always assumed people sing with vibrato when it came to this

Film Review Of Wasteland By Vik Munniz
Vik Muniz is a Brooklyn based artist who makes art from any items found in trash. The
documentary film Wasteland delved into the souls and exposed the lives of several Brazilians
who worked as catadores or pickers of recyclable items in Jardim Gramacho, located on the
outskirts of Rio de Janeiro. It was the biggest landfill in the world until was closed in 2012. Vik
Muniz traveled to the landfill, met various individuals and involved them in the process of
creating portraits which would then go on display. Vik did not know how the pickers would
respond to this. He traveled to the landfill to see it in person and he talked to some individuals who
worked there. From talking with the manager of Jardim Gramacho, he learned that the pickers...

Foreshadowing, Mood, Mythical Parallels, and Narrative...
Foreshadowing, Mood, Mythical Parallels, and Narrative Elements in Dracula
In the novel Dracula, by Bram Stoker, there is much evidence of foreshadowing and parallels to
other myths. Dracula was not the first story featuring a vampire myth, nor was it the last. Some
would even argue that it was not the best. However, it was the most original, using foreshadowing
and mood to create horrific imagery, mythical parallels to draw upon a source of superstition, and
original narrative elements that make this story unique.
Anyone who has ever seen one of the several adaptations of Dracula as a movie will know that it
was intended to be a horror story. Stoker goes to great lengths in order to create an ... Show more

This quote elicits more thoughts of future events in the mind of the reader because there has
already been some foreshadowing of other future events. The fact that the driver peered into the
darkness, in the middle of the night, on the Eve of St. George s, is evidence enough that there is
some inauspicious portent. It was also mentioned before the above quote that the driver of the
coach was mysterious, supernaturally strong, pale, and cold. Even the clueless would be able to
recognize the foreshadowing element in those words.
Another important element in creating a good horror story is of course mood, and there are
many descriptive passages in Dracula that demonstrate mood. A great example is in the first
chapter of the book, They were a hundred times more terrible in the grim silence which held
them than even when they howled. For myself, I felt a sort of paralysis of fear. (Stoker, 12). This
takes place still in the first chapter of Jonathan Harker s journal, when the driver calls to the
wolves and then commands them to become silent. Here, the event that the last quote was hinting
at is at last revealed, and the quote above summarizes the mood of the protagonist at this point. He
was paralyzed with fear , meaning that he was so fearful that he could not even move. Stoker is
very proficient at including vivid descriptions of mood in order to create a haunted atmosphere.

Contemporary Indian And Indian Drama
Contemporary Indian drama in English Translation has dramatically made bold innovations and
successful experiments in terms of both thematic concerns and technical virtuosities. Mohan
Rakesh, Badal Sircar, Girish Karnad, and Vijay Tendulkar are the most famous playwrights of the
contemporary Indian drama, whose excellent works are now amply available in many languages
throughout the globe.
Mohan Rakesh s plays describe the sufferings of men and women, who fall victims of socio

of human identity in a world of tangled relationships. Professor Avinash Kumar Sinha, in an essay

Vijay Tendulkar has received an international acclamation as a path breaking theatre writer. But
from newspaper columns to short stories to novels, film scripts and television programs, he has

Theme Of The Jilting Of Granny Weatherall
Analysis of The Jilting of Granny Weatherall
The literary and narrative techniques in a piece of writing are used to make up the story.
Characters, setting, plot, and symbols are just a few of the possible elements that authors use to
create a story. Each of these qualities are important to develop a storyline, in which readers can
relate and understand. Like all literature The Jilting of Granny Weatherall , written by Katherine
Anne Porter, is constructed of literary and narrative techniques. The way Porter portrays these
techniques allows readers to understand the theme of betrayal. The Jilting of Granny Weatherall
uses characters and symbolism to demonstrate the impact of betrayal and disappointment and how
it changes a person s life.
Since literature revolves around and is told through characters, they are necessary for creating
stories. In the Jilting of Granny Weatherall , the characters include Granny, Cornelia, Jimmy,
Lydia, Hapsy, Doctor Harry, Father Connolley, the Nurse, John, and George. While many of the
characters have necessary roles in the plot, the use of John and George most effectively display
the theme of betrayal. These two characters are important for readers to pay attention to because
of their influences on Granny s life. Granny s feelings toward George and her late husband, John,
reveal how being abandoned completely changed her and gave her a tough outlook on life. During
a flashback, Granny recalls when she put on the white veil and set out

have seen include some of the same characters, but tell two different stories because of the point
of view. One of the musicals I just mentioned is Wizard of Oz and the other one is Wicked. The
three areas of comparison for these two musicals are the how they came to be, the characters, and

  • 2. How Can Help Change Our Perspective On Life Gifts come in all ways, shapes and forms. Sometimes you don t even recognize that something or someone has been giving you a gift, you only know that it makes you feel happy. Happiness in itself is a gift that many different objects, people or places can give to someone. There are many different things that give me happiness within one day, that is for certain. But there are irreplaceable continuous gifts that live with us every single day, our animals. Whether you have a dog, cat, horse, fish, ferret (the list goes on) everyone has felt some sort of happiness or thankfulness for their animals. Not only do animals give back to us every day, but we also give back to the animalswhich can help change our perspective on life and become a little bit more selfless. This new creature solely relies on you to feed it, nurture it, shelter it, and love it for the rest of its life. That alone can change someone to be more selfless and responsible because they have to make sure that their animalcomes first in all that they do so that it is as happy as possible. Knowing that you have to take care of this animal can make you more compassionate too, it could open up a soft spot you may not have had before, especially if it was your first animal. This is your gift to the animal, giving it the best life you possibly can. Animals can help people become more responsible because they have something else they have to stay clean for, clean up after, and take care of. We become more ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Individuals in this specific type of society are in charge of social production and labor. The bourgeoisie have had an old antiquity with transforming how societies view the market place. Historical materialism plays a key role in deliberating the relations between economic production and everything else that falls in society. Later in the Communist Manifesto, Karl Marx discusses the concept of religion and how it ties into this image of capitalism. According to Marx, capitalism is the worst situation any society can be placed with in. Religion plays another big role in instigating materialism in such a society. Karl Marx adopted the concept of creating a division of labor which works in a classless society, in order to determine which individual is capable of what job. The transition between communism and capitalism involves the financing of personal relations such as the relation of man and nature. After 1970 he was never committed to the hospital again and refused any medication. According to Nash, the film A Beautiful Mind inaccurately showed him taking new atypical antipsychotics during this period. He attributed the depiction to the screenwriter (whose mother, he notes, was a psychiatrist), who was worried about encouraging people with the disorder to stop taking their medication.[12] Others[who?], however, have questioned whether the fabrication obscured a key question as to whether recovery from problems like Nash s can actually be hindered by such drugs,[13] and Nash has said they are overrated and that the adverse effects are not given enough consideration once someone is considered mentally ill.[14][15][16] According to Sylvia Nasar, author of the book A Beautiful Mind, on which the movie was based, Nash recovered gradually with the passage of time. Encouraged by his then former wife, De LardГ©, Nash worked in a communitarian setting where his eccentricities were accepted. • 8. Research Paper On Liquid Latex From the data we collected, it is clearly shown that by day 9 liquid latex preserved the most mass in the pig foot. While the foot harbouring liquid latex only lost 77.9g of mass in 9 days, alcohol lost 90.3g, formalin lost 91.6g, oils lost 87.6g, and phenol lost 129.3g. Expectantly, almost every independent variable lost less mass than the control, which lost 127.2g. However, the unexpected greater loss of mass in the leg containing Phenol may prove that there was experimental error in one of our final measurements. In addition, the results were not completely expected. Due to the new research on using plastic as a preservative, we hypothesized that liquid latex would be the most effective at delaying decomposition. When using plastication, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It performed more efficiently than phenol, alcohol, and oils but not as well as liquid latex. This result could have been due to the fact that the formalin was not pure because it was previously utilized for an unknown amount of time. Formalin has strong dehydrating and oxidizing agents. Its purpose is to be used as a disinfectant, a germicide, and it fixes/preserves tissue cells. Additionally, it combines with proteins, inactivating them, and kills them. It preserves efficiently due to the fact that it penetrates deep into the tissue, kills present bacteria, helps prevent future bacteria, and assists with retaining the tissue structure (Mercer County Community College, 2016). In our experiment, it lost about 14.13%, or 91.6g of its original mass while liquid latex lost 13.81% , phenol lost 19.05%, oils lost 14.46%, and alcohol lost 17.00%. In other words, it was a close second but not quite as advanced as liquid latex. The last measurement of formalin was recorded to have lost 14.13% and finish with a mass of 549.95g compared to 640.45g. With this knowledge we feel that the formalin could have potentially been more effective if we had used unused formalin. Concluding our experiment, it was apparent that liquid latex achieved maximum use at delaying the mass loss of the foot. Formalin performed fairly decently while oils only had moderate success and quality. On the contrary, phenol and alcohol performed indecently and lost much more mass in comparison with liquid latex which had more efficacious results.Whether or not the data was skewed from maggots, incorrect calculations, or ineffective materials, the results convey a fairly reliable source of facts and statistics based on ... The children of Israel were now forced to build cities, erect monuments, construct roads, work in the quarries, and hew stones or make bricks and tiles. However, the more the Egyptians oppressed them, and the harder the restrictions imposed upon them became, the more the children of Israel multiplied. In 1996 La Cage aux Folles (a 1978 French play) was remade by MGM into The Birdcage, a daringly flamboyant comedy that is in tune with the times and redefines the idea of family values. It combines the talents of Robin Williams (Armand), Nathan Lane (Albert), and Hank Azaria (Agador) with writer Elaine May and director Mike Nichols. These attributes cause him to be a truly unique character to both this film and his previous endeavors. The true beauty of Albert is his fearless presentation of himself. • 12. Analysis Of America By Claude Mckay Claude Mckay was an African American poet originally from Jamaica, and an important figure in the Harlem Renaissance, writing about his experience with racism and the bigoted society in America. America, written by the poet Claude Mckay, was published in the year 1921. The 1920 s, also known as the Roaring Twenties, were a time of great wealth and jubilee before the fall of the economy during the Great Depression at the end of the decade. But underneath this surface of contentment, there was a dark side that Americans did not care to address in society. The Jim Crow lawswere in full force and took away many rights of African Americans, ostracizing and belittling them. Claude Mckay was a voice of retaliation against this hatred, and America is all about the duality of Mckay s feelings towards America. Since Mckay is from Jamaica, he has a unique perspective as an immigrant to a country that is supposed to be welcoming. It s a constant push and pull between love and hatred of what this country has to offer. The title of this poem, America, blatantly shows what this poem is going to be about. America is a sonnet comprised of three quatrains and a couplet, which results in 14 lines total. He also uses the iambic pentameter which consists of a short syllable followed by a stressed syllable, which gives the poem a sort of rhythm. A quatrain is a stanza with alternating rhymes, and this is demonstrated with the last words of the first and third, second and fourth, lines of each quatrain rhyming with each other (a b a b c d c d e f e f g g). Mckay begins the poem by expressing his contempt towards what America has done to him in the first quatrain. The pronoun She is used to personify America as a woman or a motherly figure who feeds him the bread of bitterness . America also sinks into my throat her tiger s tooth which provides an imagery of a huge feline biting into Mckay s throat with no warning. The poet depends on his nation to provide him with the basic necessities to survive, but instead he receives injustice. Yet he says he loves this cultured hell that tests my youth which uses cultured hell as an oxymoron for America s sophisticated and wayward aspects. This line in the first quatrain ... The Crying Of Lot 49 Trystero and the world around Oedipa are only simulations due to the fact that they have become so layered with hyperrealism and even more simulations with all the characters Oedipa meets. She is convinced that she is either uncovering a powerful conspiracy or she is going insane, but willing to go wherever her investigation leads her in order to find meaning and truthbehind it anyway. However, for Baudrillard, ...it is dangerous to unmask images, since they dissimulate that fact that there is nothing behind them (Baudrillard 169). In other words, in Oedipa s quest to unmask the clues she finds, they are all simulations based upon other simulations without any truthful meaning at their core. The Crying of Lot 49 depicts these layers of simulation through the clues Oedipa finds that are supposed to reveal the truth behind the word Tristero. Her first introduction to the word Tristero comes from her encounter of the painting, Bordando el Manto Terrestre. The real life painting by Spanish exile, Remedios Varo, which depicts women, embroidering a kind of tapestry which spilled out the slit windows and into a void, seeking hopelessly to fill the void (Pynchon 11). A further analysis is that she herself is one of these women in the painting, forever weaving the clues and signs she receives, but ultimately attempting to fill an infinite void. Next, Oedipa hears the word Trystero in a play called The Courier s Tragedy (Pynchon 49) Then she sneaks backstage to find ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The numbers are quoted on their Web sites and in their corporate documents with a tremendous sense of pride. However, becoming diverse should not be thought of as a goal. In reality it s a train that has already left the station. So what does diversity mean in today s corporate world? Many organizations have rapidly become diverse. With shifting populations in the United States, achieving diversity doesn t require much effort. But for many, diversity is still a code word for affirmative action. Many companies have developed diversity programs, but their only metric for success is measuring the hiring and promotion of women and people of color. Yet progressive companies understand that diversity management extends far beyond hitting the numbers or compliance. It includes a wide range of activities designed to proactively create an inclusive work culture succinctly described by the U.S. Military s Officer Training Corp. as an environment that gives all members of the workforce the opportunity to be productive, without disadvantaging anyone. Having diversity, while inevitable, does not automatically bring harmony, success and profitability. To deny the existence of an agreement between the testator and the intended trustee would be to commit a fraud, and, providing the trust complies with the requisite conditions, unrealistic to uphold a strict reading of statute to allow the trust to fail. As previously stated, another equitable principle says equity follows the law in the event of conflict, equity may circumvent the common lawbut it does not seek to override it. It only intervenes if there is a risk of an unconscionable result, like the denial of a testator s wishes. As Hudson notes the purpose of equity is to introduce fairness in circumstances in which statute might permit unfairness thus is not surprising that the Courts have applied the principle to secret trusts in this way. An alternate (but weaker) theory: dehors the will However, it is false to state that is solely thus equitable principle that enables the enforcement of secret trusts. An alternative theory is that they arise, dehors, or, outside of the will. It was stated by Danckwerts J in Re Young, in holding a secret trust valid, that in fact the whole theory of the formation of a secret trust is that the Wills Act has nothing to do with the matter. This theory fundamentally argues that the trust is affirmed inter vivos, that is to say during the testator s lifetime, and not through the will, and the will is merely is formalisation of the transfer. It thus follows the trust is created dehors the will and is not opposing Wills Act. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For example, the James Webb Telescope or the Hubble Telescope can help us see the universe more clearly than we ever have. To start, in the reading, JWTS: A vision for the future, it states that Lyman Spitzer Jr. dreamed of a telescope that could snap crystal clear views of the universe. This telescope would be able to reveal clearer images of far off objects than any of the telescopes we have on Earth. This telescope was eventually known as the James Webb Telescope. This proves that it can help things see objects that can t be seen by humans because the Earth s atmosphere blocks clear views of the stars and James Webb Telescope will certainly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... My evidence proves that the JWTS can help search for these things because even though we have many infrared telescopes on Earth, the best place to do it is in space, because of how bright the atmosphere glows in infrared light. This will allow us to better understand how the universe, galaxies, stars, and planets came to be. Also, infrared light pierces through layers of dust that can hide objects in space, allowing the Webb, with its cutting edge technology, to see the objects that are hidden. This proves we can use EMR to see things that can t be seen because the universe is expanding, and visible light stretches as it travels through space, turning it into infrared light. Which makes distant stars and galaxies seem out of sight. Not to mention, Webb s vision will be able to see the flicker of the first galaxies popping into existence in the early universe. It will chart the growth of galaxies from being shapeless masses to being huge spiral shapes that may be home to new planets and solar systems. This ties in with the question, how galaxies, planets, and stars came to be because this telescope will be able to see the birth of galaxies and continue to watch it ... Being colonized by the United Kingdom has affected their history forever, and has made it extremely difficult to be in the same state as the rest of the world but also allowed both countries to be close with each other as they shared the same experiences. As they gained their independence, they later formed an East African Community along with Tanzania who was also colonized by the UK which created many benefits in the long run. In this paper, I will investigate the benefits of the East African Community over time specifically with Kenya s and Uganda s trade with coffee. 1.1.Coffee History Coffee trees were first introduced by the French which were located near the capital of Kenya, Nairobi. Nairobi was used as the nucleus around which Kenyan coffee growing developed. The British and European farmers became rich by farming coffee on the backs of the Kenyan workers. With more experience, Kenyan farmers became more and more powerful. With over 1 million Kikuyu tribe members calling it home they had real land claims according to the Europeans. Decision making is a critical responsibility in leadership and the ability to make the right decisions is imperative to the success of every organization. Over the years, various models and theories have been developed to explain how organizations make decisions. This paper shall consider a few of the models and explain how these models and theories apply in the context of the topic of this research. I.The Rational Model of Organizational Decision Making This model is based on the logic of optimal choice: the choice that would maximize value for the organization. The manager is assumed to be an objective, totally informed person who would select the most efficient alternative, maximizing whatever amount and type of output s/he values. We can summarize the rational choice process as follows: 1. An individual is confronted with a number of known alternative courses of action. 2. Each alternative bears a set of possible consequences. These consequences are known and are quantifiable. 3. The individual has a system of preferences or utilities that permits him or her to rank the consequences and choose an alternative. There is ... But each day the nanny arrives at 9, and I m never ready to leave! So I started making these freezable breakfast sandwiches to help me get out the door faster. I m a personal chef, so I m really fast in the kitchen. Before I had Pete, I never really understood why people said that they didn t have time to cook breakfast in the morning. Scrambling an egg takes no time at all! But now I realize, you have to clean the pan, the spatula, your plate, and also eat the eggs with a fork in your kitchen, all while trying to wrangle the baby in the other arm. In this new reality, minutes matter. Finding a quicker breakfast solution So I wanted a quicker and cleaner way to get my fuel in the morning. While oatmeal and granola can be nice occasionally, my go to breakfast will always include eggs. They give me longer lasting energy, plus I almost always prefer savory to sweet. I needed a way to have my eggs quickly, without having to do any of the actual cooking in the morning. Ideally, something that could be made in a big batch and frozen in individual portions. Strata was an early contender. This Vegetable, Egg and Cheddar Strata recipe is one I make for clients often and it freezes beautifully. But there s a lot of up front prep, a long cook time, and it still requires a plate and fork. I also considered quiche, my personal brunch favorite. It didn t make the cut for the same reasons. So then I started thinking of the breakfast sandwiches they serve at Starbucks. They re pre made, pretty tasty, and always hit the spot when I need a quick breakfast. I decided to make my own version that I could enjoy at home for a third of the price per sandwich. The beautiful thing about these breakfast sandwiches is that they are completely customizable. Ham, sausage, bacon, turkey bacon, and veggie sausage are all great options. Cheddar is my favorite cheese choice, but you can use any sliced cheese that melts well. You can even mix cooked veggies into the eggs to increase your morning fiber intake. Once you get the overall method down, it s easy to switch it up. Cooking the Eggs ... The reform of the Victorian era, a time in England of refinement and high decorum surrounding the years of Queen Victoria s reign, did not produce revolution but the opposite: stagnation. And so at this time in England there were ingredients present to create a real revolution and bring a dismantling of the Victorian spirit, but they were underground and silent. Oscar Wilde aimed to bring that underground movement above ground through flagrancy. Wilde s innovative faith as well as shocking literature were two gears of the same vehicle. They were gears dependent upon each other to bring anti Victorian aestheticism to the surface of English society and culture. Oscar Wilde s literary revolt against propriety paralleled his unconventional view of religion both were a rejection of law and an embrace of beauty. In as much as Wilde influenced The Victorian eraand what came thereafter, the Victorians society in England was Wilde s environment and the cause of who he was. The era, during and around when Queen Victoria was on the throne in England, was characterized by what they thought was, revolution. Of Mice and Men shows the world through the perspective of many people from different backgrounds, including workers, women, the mentally ill, and colored people. These groups are usually joined by people for different reasons, some ranging from socializing to the acquisition of a single dream the group shares. For some of these communities, this form of communication and other factors is what defines them as a discourse community. Many man made disasters are instigated by a natural disaster that a population is well aware of, yet they choose to ignore the risk because they are not personally involved or think it will not happen to them. Up to now the alternatives have basically focused on remediation by the governmentafter the fact. Somehow we have come to believe that if we build our house on a sandbar that the government will make us whole when the hurricane washes it into the ocean. This is faulty on so many levels. Government responsibility is an oxymoron in itself. In an article by James Payne, he cites numerous incidents of the government being irresponsible and actually causing more damage to the environment and populations because of mismanagement and poor oversight (James, 2010). There is an inherent conflict of interest in hoping that your government will protect you since the government requires funding and that funding can be hampered by restricting business and construction. Your life and property becomes a riskthe government is willing to take in exchange for development and taxes. Insurancecompanies provide another alternative to this problem but they too are hindered by governmental regulations intended to help people. Looking back on the world and prescribing that it was a primitive existence compared to the present is an interpretation that has held some ground until the face of adversary reveals itself. The progress of human history near the common day is not a straight linear progression that hits abstract checkmarks of movements and revolutions, but it is a more complex study. The ability to look at the past and its developments is invaluable to see the developments play out and see how progress is a limited ideal. The past might be crystallized now in textbooks, but the people of the past did not have the future at their grasp to evaluate. The abridgement between time periods and movements are not times that we can consider as straight forward progressions, but times in their own right and merit. The luxury of looking back into the past is a convenience that allows the historian, student, or teacher to read into the times, but that convenience also draws lines where causes and effects were not as simple. The tendency to patch the new research into the old story even when the research in detail has altered the bearings of the whole subject is an effect of the convenience and discredits the past with comparisons to the present. The past is also held to a standard that keeps the present wondering on how this preceded it. When studying the past it is desirable to see one s time as superior and one that is pioneering the mantle of progress, but this is not so when the direction that follows is not a desired one such as Snow s description of the sciences where if the scientists have the future in their bones, then the traditional culture responds by wishing the future did not exist. In both plays, the main characters believe that they can t control their destiny and that they are born to follow instructions. Dracula was not the first story featuring a vampire myth, nor was it the last. Some would even argue that it was not the best. However, it was the most original, using foreshadowing and mood to create horrific imagery, mythical parallels to draw upon a source of superstition, and original narrative elements that make this story unique. It was also mentioned before the above quote that the driver of the coach was mysterious, supernaturally strong, pale, and cold. Even the clueless would be able to recognize the foreshadowing element in those words. Another important element in creating a good horror story is of course mood, and there are many descriptive passages in Dracula that demonstrate mood. A great example is in the first chapter of the book, They were a hundred times more terrible in the grim silence which held them than even when they howled. For myself, I felt a sort of paralysis of fear. (Stoker, 12). This takes place still in the first chapter of Jonathan Harker s journal, when the driver calls to the wolves and then commands them to become silent. Here, the event that the last quote was hinting at is at last revealed, and the quote above summarizes the mood of the protagonist at this point. Characters, setting, plot, and symbols are just a few of the possible elements that authors use to create a story. Each of these qualities are important to develop a storyline, in which readers can relate and understand. Like all literature The Jilting of Granny Weatherall , written by Katherine Anne Porter, is constructed of literary and narrative techniques. The way Porter portrays these techniques allows readers to understand the theme of betrayal. The Jilting of Granny Weatherall uses characters and symbolism to demonstrate the impact of betrayal and disappointment and how it changes a person s life. Since literature revolves around and is told through characters, they are necessary for creating stories.
