Theme Of A Utopian Society
Part One One of the major themes Mitchell plays with in his novel is the concept of a utopian society,
and what it is comprised of. In each story, there is a setup for a perfect society, but humanity, or
humanity s spirit got in the way. Each story represents how the interpretation of things can shape a
society, depending on how literal they take the events. In the story Sloosha s Crossin an Everythin
After , the tales are in place to develop the role of each character. Zachry fights his inner demons, just
as Truman Napes does with Old Georgie. Zachry chooses to protect and befriend Meronym, even
though it goes against his initial judgement. Meronym fights for the overall good of the people just as
the crow does in Prescient yarnie . She goes out and lives with the villagers to gather information, and
saves Zachry s sister. She is making diplomatic decisions to take on the risk of changing the course of
things by helping her. The function of Zachry and Meronym are to be foils of each other, even the
story is told from the biased perspective of Zachry. Meronym is focused on long term goals, and the
redevelopment of society, while Zachry is very much focused on the present time, and the folklore that
affects his day to day life.
On a small scale, their stories are not important, which is how Mitchell intended it to be. In the novel
as whole, their place is more significant. Each tale foreshadows what could become prevalent in the
future. Zachry s story is the last in

Energy Is An Important Part Of Human Evolution
Energy has been an important part of human evolution. Ever since human began development, energy
was a major factor. We need energy for everything we do. Heat is one of many types of energy, and it
is a very important type of energy. We use heat to warm our shelter, drive cars. Heat transfer is one of
the most obvious processes in the nature. It occurs at all the places such as machine, biological
creatures, etc... In engineering this heat transfer is a key part of understanding heat energy. The study
of heat behaviour and harnessing heat energy is called thermodynamics. Thermodynamics is used for
many areas such as nuclear power plant, car engines, etc... This essay will cover topics such as, what
is energy, and what makes it useful? , what is thermodynamics, success rate for harnessing and
manipulating energy and how energy is vital to us all and how we use it.
Firstly, energy is a power produced from physical or chemical resources, such as heat provided to
work the machines. It defines the capacity for doing the work, generating heat, etc... There are many
types of energies such as mechanical, electrical, thermal, nuclear, etc... This essay will cover thermal
energy. Thermal energy is the random motion of particles in the substance. An example of this
situation would be warming a cup of water, where water particles gets in random motion when heated.
The uses of thermal energy are very broad. Thermal energy is used in simple tasks such as a coffee
maker, to a solar plant. It is

Writing Techniques In John Steinbeck s Of Mice And Men
I must admit that writing reviews for books that you equally like and dislike are mighty difficult since
I struggle with writing reviews that don t just repeat the blurb anyway. The book s plot even from the
start was peculiar as the story progressed the plot proceeded to become outrageous at times. Certainly,
I love a good thriller therefore in one hand this plot might be a tad bizarre for some readers while on
the other hand, certain readers would find it unique. Consequently, I am still indecisive about which
hand I land in though I found it hilarious that the town of Cottonwood, California had one volunteer
police officer/sheriff Jim Kent who was a plumber by trade. Indeed that is one crazy combination of
careers. As for the quality of the actual writing, Mr. Burley has a specific style all his own. Hence,
fitting for the story that was written such as, the fact that it took place in the mid 1950 s various
unique aspects from that time were mentioned which I thought was interesting especially the way the
phone system worked, Belladonna was in a medicated cigarette, and everyone knew their neighbors.

The Dance Rehearsal And Swing Class
When I observed the dance rehearsal and technique classes, I saw interesting and informative
keynotes. The technique class that I went to was a Beginning Lindy and Swing class. The rehearsal
class that I watched was a Choreography Three class. Even if the two types of dance classes were very
different, they still had little bits and pieces that were similar and incorporated important concepts that
coincided with both of the two classes. Before this class, I had never seen a Beginning Lindy and
Swing technique class before, nor a Choreography Three class. In general, I had never seen an
instructor so passionate about expressing and teaching their craft to their students.
I chose to observe the Beginning Lindy and Swing class first and foremost, because it was the only
class that I could watch that did not overlap with my personal and academic schedule. The second
reason why I chose this class was because, I had the notion that this genre of dance class would be
interesting and historical to watch. This dance is also bold and pungent to look at. This style of class is
interesting because the dance choreography has multiple kicks and jumps which are repeated
consecutively throughout the performance. The reason I choose to watch the choreography three class
is because I wanted to see the students design their own choreography, and observe how it presented
cohesively to the audience.
In the technique class I expected to see male and female students in Lindy shoes and wearing

Garry Boulard is renowned free lance writer who specializes in Louisiana politics, economics and

In support of his assertion that President Buchanan s friendships were one sided and ultimately led to
his downfall, Garry Boulard quotes Associate Supreme Court Justice Robert Grier commenting on
Buchanan s presidency in its final days saying He put his confidence and gave his power to his
enemies and not to his friends and now he is enjoying the fruits of his mistakes, (Nevins 360). The
author drew this quotation from The Emergence of Lincoln, Volume II Prologue to Civil War, 1859
1861 by Allan Nevins. This quotation is a primary source, regardless of being drawn from another
historian s book.
Garry Boulard also uses a letter from President Buchanan to Governor Pickens to continue to support
his claim that the president s friendships weakened his position on the secession of South Carolina and
his other claim that Buchanan failed to declare his position on anything of importance. This weakened
position would boost the confidence of the rest of the southern states in their right to secede from the
Union as well. In this letter to Pickens, the author argues that Buchanan subtly conceded that South
Carolina was an independent nation through his poorly worded attempt at discouraging Pickens from
laying siege to Fort Sumter; in that, he failed to assert his power as the President of the United States
and subsequently weakened the

Clara Barton s Impact On American History
Clara Barton
Clara Barton lived in a time when women were seemingly inferior, at a time when the roles she took
on were unusual for her gender. Clara Barton lived and thrived in the midst of the American Civil War.
Looked upon as one of the most honored women in American history, Barton impacted our country
most significantly by establishing the American Red Cross, an organization that today provides
disaster relief and other forms of medical assistance. For twenty three years, Barton led the
organization that she had founded in 1881 at the age of sixty. The foundation of the Red Cross was
inspired by her previous experiences. At a young age, Barton was a school teacher, despite the fact
that the occupation was usually taken on by men took part in the federal government at the U.S. Patent
office as a recording clerk in fact, one of the first women to ever do such a thing and gave her extra

Her active role in both the Civil War and the Franco Prussian War and establishment of the Red Cross
nearly redefined what it meant to be a volunteer, paving way to a new field of service. She was seen as
a sense of hope on the battlefield, for no matter what time of day it was, she was there determined to
make a difference, comfort soldiers, and provide her services. Unlike many others of her time, Barton
was recorded as somebody who understood human needs, who was compassionate and sympathetic to
people s pain and desires. She was also known for her efforts in establishing a national cemetery in
honor of the Union soldiers who died in the Andsersonville Prison. Though Barton herself died in
April of 1912, her contribution to the United States is still present today, as the American Red Cross
works everyday to provide people with assistance, no matter what gender, age,

Blow In Hamlet
Shakespeare s Hamlet is one of the greatest tragedies of all. The character of Hamlet is one who has
deeply rooted conflicts, that come into the light. From start to finish, one can see Hamlet s mind warp.
Throughout the play, Hamlet is manipulated, lied to, and driven insane. He is the victim at the end.
Hamlet wants to avenge his father because his uncle killed him. However, the world around Hamlet is
falling apart and he is only doing his best to right all the wrongs he can. His judgment may be
clouded, but there are still bouts of sense from him throughout the play. Shakespeare strategically
plays off of the language, mainly with the word: seems . He uses this word to show the multifaceted
ways of the characters. In Hamlet, nothing is true as it seems to be.

form. He uses his angst and frustration that is meant for his mother to push Ophelia even farther.
Hamlet s distancing can be seen as another form of protecting people from his insanity. By using
Ophelia as a pawn, the King, Queen, and Polonius manipulate Hamlet. In both of these examples,
Claudius is the puppet master who is pulling the strings of the other characters. He is manipulative and
uses his power to make sure he can get information about Hamlet. He doesn t try to care for him as a

The article seems to summarize their distaste for the reality that Wall street executives maintain a
constant authoritarian stance on the economy as a model, claiming a knowledge that only those within

Exploitation Is A Problem Of Exploitation
The law was made for one thing alone, for the exploitation of those who don t understand it, or are
prevented by naked misery from obeying it. Bertolt Brecht. There are two definitions of exploitation
the first is from merriam webster dictionary an act or instance of exploiting; exploitation of natural
resources; exploitation of immigrant laborers. In google searches the action or fact of treating
someone unfairly in order to benefit from their work. both having exploitation of migrant workers. Is
exploitation a problem? Exploitation isn t a problem but more of a structural problem, not a problem
of human nature. Exploitation is a problem that can never be fixed, exploitation comes along with
inequality; which solving inequality is indeed an utopian idea. We are too constrained by an idea of
equality rather than, by the sense that this is the way things have to be. Corporations exploit prison
workers, corporations are able to get away with paying them wages that rival those of third world
sweatshops. These laborers have been legally stripped of their political, economic and social rights
and ultimately relegated to second class citizens. They are banned from unionizing, violently silenced
from speaking out and forced to work for little to no wages. Incarceration Nation not just immigrant

Value Chain Approach And Actor Network Theory
Why use the Value Chain Approach and Actor Network Theory (ANT)
Value chains traditionally are those farmers can easily access. To comprehend complexities involved
in value chain a qualitative approach termed value chain analysis approach was used. The approach is
descriptive and allows linkage analysis of the farmer with different actors that are part of the Ziziphus
mauritiana chain. Inter mediators or the middlemen buy Ziziphus mauritiana from rural peasants in
Muzarabani. The middlemen also sale Ziziphus mauritiana to each other. However, most of the
Ziziphus mauritiana end up in the hands of bigger traders from markets like Mbare Musika of Harare
in Zimbabwe. The value chain analysis approach used has an array of advantages. Different ... Show

It gives a conceptual framework to the understanding of Ziziphus mauritiana value chain.
What about Power relation relations issue in Actor Network Theory?
Power relation are criticised to ANT approach. However in contrast ANT observed power being in
action. The linkages and Network power are recognised through ideas for undertaking perceptions
actions and opinions. Actors have voices and act as agencies. ANT emphasises use on interactive
power than the physical power. The concept of ANT is aligned to each network and provided a radical
approach to the discourse and other non human actors are treated as actors.
Actor Network Theory is used as a methodology for the study of the of the Ziziphus mauritiana value
chain. The value chain is viewed as an assemblage of networks. Being a theory and a methodological
approach ANT endeavours to develop analysis tools on focal actor, thats try to control other actors.
ANT can be used to shape the theoretical framework, hence enhancing the flexibility of the developed

Pauline Letters Essay
A universal theme seen throughout the writings and letters of Paul is justification by faith. Justification
by faith means that those who truly share a belief in God are saved by him. During the biblical period,
it was commonly thought that our pending salvation was dependent on our ability to obey the laws
given to the chosen people, those whom were believed to be chosen by God. Instead, Paul argues that
our righteousness is obtained through our faith in Jesus alone.
The book of Romans gives answers to questions everyone may ask to themselves, such as how to
obtain our salvation, the judgment of all people at the end of time, how to grow ... Show more content

For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed a righteousness that is by faith from first to last,
just as it is written: The righteous will live by faith. (Romans 1:16 17) This substantiates the belief that
you cannot repair your relationship with God solely through your good deeds; it is instead
accomplished through faith in Jesus Christ and all of His wondrous works.
One may question how man can be justified if we are all born into sin. Paul answers this question in
(Romans 3:21 31), stating that men can be justified in the God s eyes through their faith in Jesus
Christ. An observant reader of the Bible may take note of how many times Paul mentions faith in this
section. God did it to demonstrate his righteousness at the present time, so as to be just and the one
who justifies those who have faith in Jesus. (Romans 3:26) One can imagine the Jewish reaction to
this declaration since their beliefs stem only from Old Testament teachings and justification was based
on being a Jew, circumcision, and the Law of Moses; not through faith in Jesus Christ. Paul anticipates
their objection when he asks, Do we, then, nullify the law by this faith? Not at all! Rather, we uphold
the law. (Romans 3:31) Here, Paul is concluding that it is through our preaching that men are justified
by their faith in Jesus Christ and are confirming the law. The Law of Moses directed men to Jesus
Christ because according to scripture, sin was prevalent at the time. The

This report will mainly be about the Roman Catacombs, I will also talk about how they came about,
what they are primarily used for, and also how these things go back thousands of years. Catacombs are
underground, which is a city of the dead with different passages with tombs in the side. Roman had a
law that stated that no one can be buried in the walls of Rome itself. Catacombs are made out of
different soils, these soils are solid and hard, they needed them to last forever so the people won t get
destroyed. It is astonishing on how they are still around today and you can go on tours to see these

A Brief Note On The Industrial Engineering Of A Motorcycle...
II. Career Episodes
2.1 Career Episode 1
2.1.1 Introduction. In this career episode, I describe an industrial engineering task which I undertook
as part of my educational program in the bachelor degree program in Industrial Engineering
department, Faculty of Engineering, Andalas University, Indonesia, during 1998 2003. In this task, I
worked with my team to solve industrial engineering problems within a motorcycle carburettor
manufacturer by predicting customer demand through forecasting activities, for later, was used to
develop the aggregate production plan, master production schedule, rough capacity planning materials
and capacity planning.

Moreover, production planning and control is useful to meet demand in order to obtain the maximum
profit. In this task, I lead my team to conduct forecasting of customers demand for one year period and
to develop an aggregate planning, master production schedule (MPS), rough cut capacity planning
(RCCP), material requirement planning (MRP) and capacity requirement planning (CRP). These
activities are part of the effective and integrated manufacturing planning and control processes which
is known as MRP II (Manufacturing Resource Planning), the predecessor of enterprise resource
planning (ERP). The relationship of these processes can be seen in Figure 1. Our project was related to
processes of top management planning and operation management execution in this figure.
2.1.3 Personal Engineering Activity
2.1.3.1 Forecasting. Forecasting is the first important activity to determine production schedule in the
future. It was done by predicting the future customer demand for a certain product or several products
which later will become the target for production based on analysis of historical data. There are
several phases for conducting quantitative forecasting, including: 1) Plotting the historical data [there
are some possibility of data plotting: constant, linear, seasonal, cyclical and random] 2) Choosing

Napoleon Warfare Compared To Warfare
Is warfare in the Napoleonic era fundamentally similar to warfare practiced today? The Napoleonic
era foresaw the potential for use of a variety of arms, improved military tactics and strategies;
however, failing to utilize the approach and maximize use of tactical resources to warfare is an
illustration of ineffective tactical leadership. The Napoleonic era is fundamentally similar to warfare
practiced today; specifically the integration of combined arms, adaptability of basic military tactics
and strategies, consideration of operational environment and logistical planning on the battlefield.
These are key points Napoleon integrated during his era and today s leaders continue to consider and
effectively utilize during warfare. Incorporating ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The victor of warfare in both eras could very well be determined by who has the best logistical
execution. A very clear illustration of this is shown in Napoleon s invasion of Russia. His lack of
consideration for ensuring the troops were supplied with basic needs proved disastrous. Supplying a
force the size of Napoleon s army was a logistical nightmare for the French command. He essentially
overextended his supply train and left his army hung out to dry. Perhaps the biggest influence the
Napoleonic era has on today s warfare excluding strategic improvement and tactics is recognizing the
impact of poor logistical planning. Whether it s the war in Vietnam, Desert Storm, Operation Iraqi
Freedom, or Operation Enduring Freedom victories in war cannot be achieved without providing
sound logistical, operational, tactical, and strategical support. In today s warfare, we are still over
stretching military logistic units and military forces that rely on contractors to provide many functions.
It is important to note a shortcoming to each of the previously mentioned wars was a significant
increase in cost to the government regarding logistics; however, none were considered failures as in
the Napoleonic era. A successful logistical execution will provide a country strategic flexibility,

After a successful landing for the crew, the men held to each other s elbows, suddenly unable to

they saw: Mars looked exactly like the old town on Earth they all grew up in. This portrayal of setting
develops the fear of the unknown because it is the exact opposite of what Mars was believed to look
like. Bradbury goes on to set this expedition in context chronologically with the previous two mission.
Some of the men believed that Captain Williams and his crew of three men! Or Nathaniel York and his

out the York expedition was only a year ago, while Captain Williams and his men landed here some
time during last August. and William and his men, as well as York, landed on the opposite side of
Mars. (34). The men were looking for a justification as to why Mars was so Earthlike, but Bradbury
brilliantly counters all points through explicitly detailing the setting as one that could not overlap with
the present. This exudes fear of the unknown as there is no given solution as to what lies ahead of

Hippies, as part of the counter culture, were seen as outsiders as they were outspoken about their

St. Thomas Aquinas Research
St. Thomas Aquinas persuaded me about the existence of God on the grounds that Aquinas five ways
supply logical reasoning. Aquinas first way is that nothing can move itself without a mover, in other
words, in order for an object to move it must have a mover. I concur with Aquinas assertion, it makes
logical sense on the grounds that everything we do necessitates a mover. An illustration would be a
car, in order for a car to move one must drive the car for it to move. Aquinas concludes that there must
be a primary mover (God) that is not itself moved. In addition, Aquinas second way asserts that it is
impossible for natural things to be the absolute and sufficient sources of their own existence, that there
must be an uncaused cause proficient

Coping Mechanism of Families with Autistic Children
CHAPTER 1
The Problem and Its Background
Introduction
Autism is a pervasive developmental disorder that affects the brain s development of social and
communication skills and said to be a behaviorally defined condition. (www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov) a
person with autism has to deal with great consequences due to the different adjustments they have to
follow. Along with the stress felt by the autistic person, their families are the ones who should handle
the responsibilities in raising their autistic children. Since they have to raise the children with a
disability, a big burden corresponds to the adjustment they have to initiate to their autistic child and
for the whole family as well. Their responsibility is even more difficult since there are ... Show more

With these two principles constantly followed, the family functions well and accordingly and benefits
the whole family and each member. But raising a child with autism can create great emotional stress
and can fully affect the family s system and interaction because of the problems related to autism. For
the family to form their organized family life cycle they must go through different adjustments and
adaptation for the family s development, applying the third principle that says that any system
functions as an organized whole.
Research Paradigm
Raising a child who has been diagnosed with autism can be a very challenging role for any family.
Since they are the ones who are primarily responsible for dealing with the needs of the child with a
disability, they also have to deal with great stress regarding the autistic child. The presence of a child
with a disability may involve some difficult adjustments for the rest of the family.
Different effects are implied to the whole family, changes in family roles are highly affected and
because of this they have to reorganize the family s functioning and activities. Autism affects the
enormously, they are challenged physically, mentally, emotionally and financially as well. Everyday

The Rating System Is Entirely Voluntary
The MPAA likes to advertise that their rating system is entirely voluntary. Virtually, their system is
only in place as an informative tool provided to assist parents to conveniently and easily decide what

overall life span of a film. The is no realistic alternative other than going through the process of
receiving a rating by the MPAA, editing the film to their liking or taking your chances with the
appeals board. The members of the MPAA which include Sony Pictures (Sony), Warner Brothers

This board of individuals is almost like the gatekeeper for all films where they can decide the fate of a
film with a label. As a nation we are being robbed of our right to choose the films we want to see and
have our children see, but as individuals what can we do? As an individual one might feel
overwhelmed when discovering an unsettling aspect that may affect our lives. One may think to
themselves what can only one person do to impact a big organization? A way that you can take a step
towards change is to demand it by using your power as a consumer. Take your business away from the
members of the MPAA until they make the changes we need and want. Invest in watching films by
independent distributers, like Sundance. In the world of business, the goal is to profit, we as
consumers hold that power to influence where the market goes, so if we are unhappy they must fix it.
Once the MPAA realizes where their market lies they will make changes to meet consumer need. This
is a key step towards change. One individual making a move leads many more to do the same.

Type I: Cirrhosis with rapid progressive acute kidney injury.
Type II: Cirrhosis with sub acute renal failure.
Type III: Cirrhosis with types I or II HRS on top of chronic kidney disease or acute kidney injury.
Type IV: Fulminant liver failure with HRS.
Diagnostic Criteria for HRS
1. Chronic or acute liver disease with progressed liver failure and portal hypertension.
2. Low GFR indicated by serum creatinine 1.5 mg/dL or creatinine clearance 40 mL/min in 24 hour.
3. Absence of circulatory shock, treatment with nephrotoxic drugs, absence of gastrointestinal or renal
fluid losses, and on going bacterial infection.
4. No improvement in renal function (decrease in serum creatinine ā‰¤ 1.5 mg/dL or increase in
creatinine clearance to ā‰„ 40 mL/min) following withdrawal of diuretics and expansion of plasma
volume with 1.5 liter of isotonic saline.
5. Proteinuria 500 mg/dL without ultra sonographic proof of parenchymal renal disease or obstructive

Business Law Mistake
Introduction
In the Law of Contract the phrase mistake Misrepresentation is applied when one or both parties of a
contract act under a false or mistaken understanding.
Mistake can be defined by Pendleton , Vickery (1998), [1] as; āž¢ A misunderstanding regarding a fact,
causing one or more parties to hold disagreeing beliefs about the foundation of a contract.
Mistakes can be made in the form of a contracts subject matter or as a mistake of identity. There are 3
different types of mistake in Contract Law. āž¢ Common Mistake (Subject) āž¢ Mutual Mistake

āž¢ Voidable
On the other hand if the contract is deemed voidable due to misrepresentation the contract still exists
and the good title is passed from the first party to the crook who then passes the good title on the an
innocent third party (as long as the innocent third party paid a reasonable price for the goods, if they
did not pay a reasonable price the court will find they did not have good faith and the contract is
therefore void). In a case like this the only thing the plaintiff can do is find the crook and sue him for
the amount lost.
There are two ways a court will decide if the contract is made void for mistake or not. If the contract
was made face to face or at a distance (eg. on the phone or by letter) āž¢ At a distance
This was first applied in the case Cundy v Lindsay (1878)[10] where a crook had pretended to be a
regular customer of the company and ordered a substantial amount of goods. Once in possession of the
goods he sold them on to an innocent third party who bought them at a reasonable price (good faith).
The company then took action against the innocent third party under the grounds of mistake. It was
held in this case that the plaintiff was mistaken as to the identity of the crook and the contract was
made void, on the grounds that the plaintiff thought they

The Role of the Logistician in Defense Acquisitions
The Role of the Logistician in Defense Acquisitions

paramount to the overall success of acquisition efforts and ultimate success of our fighting men and

This will aid the logistician in the development of support resources and strategies. Logisticians, using
customer input from the warfighters requirements documents, must participate in the development of
the most cost effective method to support the system while allowing optimal performance of the
mission. This responsibility entails the greatest effort to ensure that all the needed elements of support
(technical manuals, spare parts, facilities, training, support equipment, etc.) are developed and
delivered to the customer within budget constraints. The logistics element of maintenance planning is
the most critical factor in influencing both supportability design characteristics and support resource
requirements. It is the process of arranging in an orderly manner, all elements of maintenance support
necessary to keep systems and equipment ready to perform assigned missions. Of all the noteworthy
elements of logistics support, maintenance planning tends to be the one element that has the greatest
influence on the other support elements as well as on the actual design of the end item. It is imperative
that the user identifies a maintenance concept as soon as possible, preferably in the conceptual study
phase, and that the acquisition community scrutinizes the concept for feasibility and affordability.
Supportability is a design characteristic that requires an early focus during maintenance planning to

Views on intellectual property vary from the belief that that intellectual property should be protected,
to the view that ideas should be completely unrestricted and free to use. Thomas Jefferson believed
that ideas had the right to be shared, saying:
If nature has made any one thing less susceptible than all others of exclusive property, it is the action
of the thinking power called an idea, which an individual may exclusively possess as long as he keeps
it to himself; but the moment it is divulged, it forces itself into the possession of everyone, and the
receiver cannot dispossess himself of it. Its peculiar character, too, is that no one possesses the less,
because every other possesses the whole of it. He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction
himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening
me. That ideas should freely spread from one to another over the globe, for the moral and mutual
instruction of man, and improvement of his condition, seems to have been peculiarly and benevolently
designed by nature, when she made them, like fire, expansible over all space, without lessening their
density in any point, and like the air in which we breathe, move, and have our physical being,
incapable of confinement or exclusive appropriation. Inventions then

By choosing an embryo without these mutations, doctors can make sure the baby will not have the

Doctors can choose the sex of the baby by looking at the embryo s chromosomes. If they implant an

Symbolism In Under The Persimmon Tree
(AGG) Many authors use symbolism to show the development of a character, like the author of Under
The Persimmon Tree does. (BS 1) In the beginning of the novel, Najmah changes from a childlike girl
to an adult like woman and the author uses the bukri, or baby goat, to symbolize this change. (BS 2)
When Mada Jan and Habib die Shaheed is born while Golestan Najmah dies, and the author uses
Najmah s first haircut to give a deeper meaning to this change. (BS 3) After Najmah meets Nusrat, she
develops into another version of herself and the author uses another haircut to add another level
behind this literal change. (TS) The author uses symbolism to show Najmah s development throughout
the novel.
(MIP 1) Najmah goes from an innocent child in the family to an adult in the family and the author
tracks this change with the bukri. (SIP A) The author shows that Najmah grows up to be an adult after
her father and brother were taken away. (STEWE 1) After Najmah s brother and father are taken away,
her mother goes into depression and just silently sits. This is like a role reversal between Najmah and
her mother. Before, Najmah used to need to be told to do the work because she was much like a child.

Aside from the comical regularity of the characters and storyline, the funniest part of Trailer Park
Boys comes from the characters overreaction or lack of reaction to the shenanigans they get
themselves into. One example is Ricky and Julian s opinions about prison. Despite attempting to
maintain their freedom, Ricky and Julian confidently admit that they don t mind, or better yet, love
being in prison. In the episode Dear Santa Claus. Go Fuck Yourself, Ricky tells the cameraman that
there is nothing better than being in jail at Christmas. Later on, however, Ricky would throw a tire
iron threw his dad s trailer because he ate the last of his pepperoni. The show s comedic style is unique
from most other comedies in that it lacks a punchline, and the humor derives from the characters
themselves, instead of their current predicaments.
The trailer park in which the show takes place is a setting rarely seen in on television (excluding Cops
that is). Other than Ricky, who lives in a broken down car, and Bubbles, who lives in a shed, most of
the characters in Trailer Park Boys live in crummy and broken down trailers. While each character s
financial situation is unique, everyone, including the trailer park supervisor, is stealing cable from the

purity and innocence even under pressure and the force of destruction ( Goblin Market Imagery,
symbolism and themes 1). This text from the website is accurate because during the poem Laura is the
one basically blamed for eating the fruit that the goblins gave her while Lizzie was able to hold off.
Although Laura needed Lizzie to help her get out of the bad situation she was in, Lizzie stood her
ground when the goblin men tried to also shove the fruit in Lizzie s

  • 2. Theme Of A Utopian Society Part One One of the major themes Mitchell plays with in his novel is the concept of a utopian society, and what it is comprised of. In each story, there is a setup for a perfect society, but humanity, or humanity s spirit got in the way. Each story represents how the interpretation of things can shape a society, depending on how literal they take the events. In the story Sloosha s Crossin an Everythin After , the tales are in place to develop the role of each character. Zachry fights his inner demons, just as Truman Napes does with Old Georgie. Zachry chooses to protect and befriend Meronym, even though it goes against his initial judgement. Meronym fights for the overall good of the people just as the crow does in Prescient yarnie . She goes out and lives with the villagers to gather information, and saves Zachry s sister. She is making diplomatic decisions to take on the risk of changing the course of things by helping her. The function of Zachry and Meronym are to be foils of each other, even the story is told from the biased perspective of Zachry. Meronym is focused on long term goals, and the redevelopment of society, while Zachry is very much focused on the present time, and the folklore that affects his day to day life. On a small scale, their stories are not important, which is how Mitchell intended it to be. In the novel as whole, their place is more significant. Each tale foreshadows what could become prevalent in the future. Zachry s story is the last in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Writing Techniques In John Steinbeck s Of Mice And Men I must admit that writing reviews for books that you equally like and dislike are mighty difficult since I struggle with writing reviews that don t just repeat the blurb anyway. The book s plot even from the start was peculiar as the story progressed the plot proceeded to become outrageous at times. Certainly, I love a good thriller therefore in one hand this plot might be a tad bizarre for some readers while on the other hand, certain readers would find it unique. Consequently, I am still indecisive about which hand I land in though I found it hilarious that the town of Cottonwood, California had one volunteer police officer/sheriff Jim Kent who was a plumber by trade. Indeed that is one crazy combination of careers. As for the quality of the actual writing, Mr. Burley has a specific style all his own. Hence, fitting for the story that was written such as, the fact that it took place in the mid 1950 s various unique aspects from that time were mentioned which I thought was interesting especially the way the phone system worked, Belladonna was in a medicated cigarette, and everyone knew their neighbors. ... The technique class that I went to was a Beginning Lindy and Swing class. The rehearsal class that I watched was a Choreography Three class. Even if the two types of dance classes were very different, they still had little bits and pieces that were similar and incorporated important concepts that coincided with both of the two classes. Before this class, I had never seen a Beginning Lindy and Swing technique class before, nor a Choreography Three class. In general, I had never seen an instructor so passionate about expressing and teaching their craft to their students. I chose to observe the Beginning Lindy and Swing class first and foremost, because it was the only class that I could watch that did not overlap with my personal and academic schedule. The second reason why I chose this class was because, I had the notion that this genre of dance class would be interesting and historical to watch. This dance is also bold and pungent to look at. This style of class is interesting because the dance choreography has multiple kicks and jumps which are repeated consecutively throughout the performance. The reason I choose to watch the choreography three class is because I wanted to see the students design their own choreography, and observe how it presented cohesively to the audience. In the technique class I expected to see male and female students in Lindy shoes and wearing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The author drew this quotation from The Emergence of Lincoln, Volume II Prologue to Civil War, 1859 1861 by Allan Nevins. This quotation is a primary source, regardless of being drawn from another historian s book. Garry Boulard also uses a letter from President Buchanan to Governor Pickens to continue to support his claim that the president s friendships weakened his position on the secession of South Carolina and his other claim that Buchanan failed to declare his position on anything of importance. This weakened position would boost the confidence of the rest of the southern states in their right to secede from the Union as well. In this letter to Pickens, the author argues that Buchanan subtly conceded that South Carolina was an independent nation through his poorly worded attempt at discouraging Pickens from laying siege to Fort Sumter; in that, he failed to assert his power as the President of the United States and subsequently weakened the ... Religion 204a Joseph Fiore Religion 204A Christian Scriptures Dr. Jennifer Kaalund Pauline Letters Essay A universal theme seen throughout the writings and letters of Paul is justification by faith. Justification by faith means that those who truly share a belief in God are saved by him. During the biblical period, it was commonly thought that our pending salvation was dependent on our ability to obey the laws given to the chosen people, those whom were believed to be chosen by God. Instead, Paul argues that our righteousness is obtained through our faith in Jesus alone. The book of Romans gives answers to questions everyone may ask to themselves, such as how to obtain our salvation, the judgment of all people at the end of time, how to grow ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: The righteous will live by faith. (Romans 1:16 17) This substantiates the belief that you cannot repair your relationship with God solely through your good deeds; it is instead accomplished through faith in Jesus Christ and all of His wondrous works. One may question how man can be justified if we are all born into sin. Paul answers this question in (Romans 3:21 31), stating that men can be justified in the God s eyes through their faith in Jesus Christ. An observant reader of the Bible may take note of how many times Paul mentions faith in this section. God did it to demonstrate his righteousness at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus. (Romans 3:26) One can imagine the Jewish reaction to this declaration since their beliefs stem only from Old Testament teachings and justification was based on being a Jew, circumcision, and the Law of Moses; not through faith in Jesus Christ. Paul anticipates their objection when he asks, Do we, then, nullify the law by this faith? Not at all! Rather, we uphold the law. (Romans 3:31) Here, Paul is concluding that it is through our preaching that men are justified by their faith in Jesus Christ and are confirming the law. The Law of Moses directed men to Jesus Christ because according to scripture, sin was prevalent at the time. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Aquinas first way is that nothing can move itself without a mover, in other words, in order for an object to move it must have a mover. I concur with Aquinas assertion, it makes logical sense on the grounds that everything we do necessitates a mover. An illustration would be a car, in order for a car to move one must drive the car for it to move. Aquinas concludes that there must be a primary mover (God) that is not itself moved. In addition, Aquinas second way asserts that it is impossible for natural things to be the absolute and sufficient sources of their own existence, that there must be an uncaused cause proficient ...
