The Rise Of Pop Art
In the 1940s the United States and the allies were in the midst of a deadly war against their Nazi
German counterparts, World War II officially ended in 1945 and the Allies were victorious. In the
early 1950s the post war economic boom in both the United States of America and Great Britain, gave
the people optimism and money to spend as the super markets were filled with all kinds of consumer
goods . The economy was good and people were happy.
Capitalizing on the post war economic boom of the 1950s were advertisers. Advertising persuaded
many, it told people what was popular, what was good, and what to buy. Advertising and glossy
magazines were found everywhere, in the street, the highway, and even at the comfort of your own
house as you opened the newspaper. This mass marketing phenomenon was incorporated with the rise
of Pop Art. It paved the way for iconic artist such as Andy Warhol and Jasper Johns .
With the rise of this bona fide American phenomenon also brought critics. Critics asked and wondered
how a can of soup or a soft drink could be considered art. Pop artist, Andy Warhol responded by
stating, Art is what you can get away with. What made pop art popular? It was brash, transient, witty,
hostile, young, mass produced, and most importantly it was low cost .
Pop art was the new art movement of the 1950s and 1960s, it was the successor of the art movement
of a decade earlier. In the 1940s abstract expressionism was all the rage in the United States, it was

Change Chalenge And Management Essay
Change, Challenge, and Management
INTRODUCTION
Few words can strike more fear into the heart of an individual than change. We are creatures of habit
and feel most secure when we are doing what we know. But how are the three distinct words Change ,
Challenge and Management , connected?
These words are interconnected and interdependent. Effective change management involves aligning
all enterprise resources physical assets, know how, technology and people simultaneously, but with a
different intensity at the organizational, work group and individual levels. Yes, it is a challenge. This is
the challenge of the modern enterprise: to be relevant in the context of its dynamic marketplace and to
maintain that relevance even in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Change in management entails thoughtful planning and sensitive implementation, and above all,
consultation with, and involvement of, the people affected by the changes. If you force change on
people normally problems arise. Change must be realistic, achievable and measurable. These aspects
are especially relevant to managing personal change. Before starting organizational change, ask
yourself: What do we want to achieve with this change, why, and how will we know that the change
has been achieved? Who is affected by this change, and how will they react to it? How much of this
change can we achieve ourselves, and what parts of the change do we need help with? These aspects
also relate strongly to the management of personal as well as organizational change.
THEORIES OF CHANGE
Theory of change refers to the causal processes through which change comes about as a result of a
program s strategies and action. It relates to how practitioners believe individual, intergroup, and
social/ systemic change happens and how, specifically, their actions will produce positive results.
Theories of change can be identified either prospectively as part of planning an initiative or
retrospectively as part an evaluative process. In either case, this kind of analysis requires both time
and honest reflection from program leaders and practitioners.
An early model of change developed by Kurt Lewin described change as a three stage process. The
first stage he called unfreezing .

Mid Tudor Crisis
To what extent was there a mid Tudor crisis, 1539 1563?
The concept of a mid Tudor crisis arrived under the scrutiny of modern scholarship largely through a
priori reasoning and was first broadly promulgated by W.R.D. Jones in his 1973 book The Mid Tudor
Crisis1539 1563 . Jones attested a series of problems that seem to have been ever present in mid Tudor
England (Jones, 1973, p. 6), exhibiting a close relationship (Jones, 1973, p. 6) with one another as a
crisis . This compounded succession of agricultural volatility, deficiencies in administrative decree,
specifically the troubled shadowed reigns of Edward VI and Mary I, (Jones, 1973, p.19) and divisive
religious reformation, as Jones was to surmise, directly resulted in fluctuations ... Show more content

The fruitless campaigns of 1544 and 1550 demanded an estimated 3.5 million pounds, the reciprocal
yield from domestic taxation of the same period amounting to a fraction of that cost at 976,000.
(Matusiak, 2005) Disastrously Henry VIII addressed this deficiency by administrating a series of
debasements continued by his successors until by 1551the silver content in coins had decreased to
25% of what it had been in 1542. This economic maelstrom (Matusiak, 2005, p.33) was further
exacerbated by the collapse of the wool trade; exports plummeting by 35% in 1552, paralleled in the
forthcoming years by the depredation of the agricultural industry as a repercussion of the 1554 1556
harvest failures (caused by the inundating of heavy rain), agricultural laborers wages dropped around
60% and the cost of necessary commodities (food, drink, housing) cost the lower classes 80% (Jones,
1973, p. 78) of their reduced incomes as demonstrated by the 1551 imploration of Bishop Hooper

The Emergence of Check Imaging Technologies and the Impacts of to Banks and Consumer and Small
Business Customers
Thanks in part to advancements in check imaging technology; financial institutions have an
opportunity to make major changes to outdated check processing systems. Bank executives are
weighing the benefits with the potential risks of updating a system that has been virtually untouched
since the 1970 s.
These emerging imaging technologies have the potential to remove the high transportations costs
associated with transporting physical checks and reduce the flow time (float) it takes between check
deposit and funds availability.

Lastly, all of these shortcomings to the conventional system prolong the time it takes for a customer to
deposit a check and receive the funds. Ultimately, any process improvements must create a positive
customer experience and reduce added exposure to both the customer and the banks.
A Closer Look At Check Imaging Truncation
With advancements in check imaging capabilities and Check 21 legislation (allowing for banks to us a
duplicate image of a check in lieu of the physical check), banks now have the opportunity to address
the process pain points that have plagued its check processing systems for years. For this analysis, the
focus will be on the various check processing imaging solutions that can optimize the conventional
check processing system. While the ACH system can be considered a bottleneck for some banks, there
have been made incremental improvements over time. Further, the ACH system improvements
requires the cooperation and partnership with the Federal Reserve and the governing body for electric
payments, The Electronic Payments Association.
Check imaging technology is a popular solution among financial institutions because each bank can
apply the technologies differently to fit its current systems. Check imaging is the process of making a
digital image of the check and using that image to

Outcome Devaluation Model
Experimental paradigm Outcome devaluation experimental paradigm is now widely used and a core
model to understand the instrumental behaviour in animal and humans. So, behavioural scientists
using outcome devaluation model to differentiate the manipulations of the environmental learning
effects on animals or human action behaviour and exploration whether it is habitual behaviour or goal
directed behaviour. As they use training schedule, choice, and Pavlovian influences to produce
insensitivity or sensitivity to outcome devaluation, and they can explore which areas in the brain are
important in the process and involvement in habitual behaviour or goal behaviour. The devaluation
outcome model is a good model in determining the cognitive architecture by testing the effect of an

Since that experiment there was an evidence that rats having goal directed action(Balleine O doherty,

produce behavioural autonomy which caused insensitivity to the outcome and the rats and reduced
their response even for the devalued pellets (Balleine O doherty, 2010). In addition to that the
behavioural autonomy considered because of the behavioural repetition which constrained to the

How might better utilizing our school level counselors and the eEWS Data System, positively
influence the improvement of student academics, behavior and attendance at JCHS? The most
effective schools will provide opportunities for all struggling students within their school to achieve
success. Many students are often left to fall through the cracks. Progress monitoring can be done using
a variety of methods. A number of progress monitoring measures have been reviewed by the National
Center on Response to Intervention and the National Center for Student Progress Monitoring and vary
considerably in reliability, validity, and other key progress monitoring standards (Hughes, C., Dexter,

It may be a matter of time management, study skills, possibly allowing the student extra time on an
assignment, changing the seating within the classroom to even checking the students hearing and
eyesight. This information cannot be effectively implemented if the teacher and counselor does not
take the time to get to know the student and what the needs are currently. The social style of the
teacher as well as the student plays an extremely important role in the success of all students. Taking
time to get to know a student will allow the teacher and counselor the opportunity to make suggestions
that will allow the student the opportunity to perform at a level of acceptance possible leading to
success. Students really do not care how much you know until they know how much you care. The
success of most students depends upon the relationship that the teacher and counselor has developed
with their students. All students and staff must be included in the planning, implementing and
sustaining phases for continued success to be visible. It is meant for all children and helps educators

Marilyn Monroe Emotional Issues
One of the things a woman wants most in this world is for someone to relate and/or understand her.
Ever since I can remember, I ve had that one person to look up to that I felt could relate to me. As long
as I can remember, that person was Marilyn Monroe. At about the age of 5, I saw her face on the
television screen and by about the age of 12 years old, I was researching all I could about her. The
more I learned about her, the more my love grew for her and the more I knew she would understand
me if she were here today. Marilyn Monroe was an iconic celebrity but also very relatable to the
average woman who deals things such as tough emotional issues, harsh body image problems and
having a hard time trusting people or building relationships.
Everyone has issues that we deal with; we re only human, right? The emotional issues we deal with
daily can be anger, sadness, depression, etc. Marilyn dealt with these emotions as much as anyone
else, but there was a time she had said, I am not a victim of emotional conflicts. I am human . She
understood that as a human being, we all have emotional problems, but it s how one deals with their
emotions that matters. These emotional issues can stem from many different situations or moments in
our life. Dealing with a bully in school, an abusive parent or whatever it may be, can cause these
issues. Unfortunately, Marilyn had to deal with emotional issues stemming form the relationship with
her mother. One of Marilyn s family members was quoted saying: Gladys didn t hug, kiss or smile,
Marilyn s niece, Mona Rae Miracle, exclusively tells Closer. She was delusional, and she heard voices
from electrical appliances. She was antisocial and unable to express any emotion, except anger .
Marilyn s mother s inability to feel or express emotions was of no benefit to the growth of an
impressionable girl such as Marilyn. Marilyn unfortunately paid dearly from this and grew up battling
her emotions all of the time. So, knowing what we ve learned so far, there s no doubt that Marilyn
Monroe dealt with the same kind of problems your average jane deals with.
Emotional issues wouldn t be the only way for Marilyn to relate to us average Janes these days,
because she

Also how did this come about? There are changes ongoing that affect English as a language, such as
employment opportunities and why it is important for any potential employer wishing to employ
someone. It is also used by professionals who are at work each day, on travel, or work related matters.

Doctors and nurses may also use medical terminology when discussing something in front of a patient
in order to prevent undue anxiety. Medical jargon is not at all meant to speak in pig latin in front of a
patient. It is so that there is no mistake when doctors are conveying information about a patient to each
other. For example, to a lay person, fever may mean that the person feels hot, or that the temperature is
above 100 Fahrenheit. But no one really knows and can cause a lot of confusion. With medical terms,
things are very clear, so that even a surgeon in France can read a scientific journal article and know
exactly what the author means. That way, also, medicine can be global and that the medical societies
can share ideas and innovations. Since everything in a patient s medical records must be documented,
from signs and symptoms, to the patient s medical history, to the final diagnosis and treatment, it saves
the doctors and all other medical personnel a considerable amount of time to use a universally
accepted form of medical terminology. And, even more importantly to use medical terminology,
means it will be safer when all medical professionals, from doctors and nurses, lab techs to radiology
techs, etc. use the same universal medical terminology so they don t have to try to guess what was
ordered or charted on the patient s medical records or what procedure a patient needs.

The Pros And Cons Of Globalization And Accounting

The business environment appears to get smaller with each passing day. Therefore, accountants face
troubles in remaining protected from the progressions that occur around the world (Diaconu and

division of the accounting field (Sahi and Dua 2012). Management accounting and financial
accounting are two distinct callings in such locales. Administration accounting, as a sub control,
manages money related and non monetary data to bolster a scope of administrative choices. Then
again, money related accounting focuses on monetary information just to bolster both loan bosses and

Personality Change In Macbeth
In William Shakespeare s Macbeth , the title character undergoes a serious personality change. At the
plays beginning Macbeth is a loyal and honorable man who, unfortunately, is immensely ambitious.
As the play progresses however, Macbeth begins to lose the honor that he held onto so dearly.
Macbeths descent into dishonor is displayed in the two most prominent murders in the first 3 acts: the
slaying of Duncan and the assassination of Banquo. When Lady Macbeth is convincing her husband to
murder the king, the reader is able to detect his hesitation to commit such a heinous crime. Also, the
remorse Macbeth feels after he murders Duncan proves that he still possesses some of that honor and
loyalty he originally held in such high regard. However, when Macbeth has Banquo killed he has
changed into a cold and evil man. He, Macbeth, no longer clings to his honor and loyalty. In Macbeth
by William Shakespeare, Macbeth`s has a personality shift that is showcased in the murders of King
Duncan and Banquo. Macbeth is originally depicted as an honorable and loyal man. However his
ambition and his wife lead him to do things he would never dream of without those influences. The
hesitation that Macbeth shows when thinking about murdering Duncan proves that he started out as an
honorable man: I have no spur/ To prick the sides of my intent, but only/ Vaulting ambition (pg. 40 ll
25 27). Without the prodding of his wife, Macbeth never would have committed the murder of King
Duncan.

Essay The Gospel of Mark
INTRODUCTION
At the risk of being judgmental this book is very complicated. The points are many and varied. In his
lead up to his commentary proper Myers makes many points as he expounds the many topics that
would influence that commentary. The World of Jesus and the World of Mark, the filters and models
of that social world, the cross cultural history and the socio economic tensions of both worlds are all
considered. The Jewish War is also a point to consider in that it occurs around the time of writing and
most of the historicity comes from the works of Josephus. The major point to consider however is
Myers self confessed socio historical hermeneutic.

The hypotheses on how this Gospel originated are many and varied. The continuity of the actual
message of the story of the life of Jesus seems, it would be generally agreed, to hinge on the Gospel of
Mark being a source for the other Synoptic gospels at least. Much argument has also gone on about
the place and time of writing of Mark and how this influences the traditioning or the handing on of the
story. How the original written version came to be from the oral process is also a cause for the concern
as regards continuity of the story. Was it faithfully translated?
Nineham states that Jesus very character was determined by the particular circumstances in which the
tradition was handed down. Those who kept it shaped the tradition itself. They had their own motives
and beliefs and these have influenced the tradition that has brought out the character of Jesus as we
know today (Nineham 1986: 21).
This traditioning was a process that began by orally recounting the story at private or public
gatherings. The public gatherings being more favoured because preachers or teachers, that is those
entrusted with the traditioning process, would have told the story at worship or catechumen gatherings
(Nineham 1986: 22).
As is sometimes the practice with preaching today so it may have been in the first century. Anyone
telling the story would be driven by a particular need of the time, for example if a message on good
neighbours was needed then the

Civilized Society In Brave New World
In the novels Brave New World by Aldous Huxley and The Dispossessed by Ursula K. Le Guin, the
authors depict their versions of a civilized world. In both worlds, society allows [its people] to enjoy
so called rights and deprive [them] of others (Biddle 2012). Similarly, both authors introduce an
outsider to each of the collective societies. In Brave New World, the main protagonist, John, is the
outsider from the Savage Reservation being brought into the civilized World State. In the same way,
Le Guin introduces Shevek as the outsider being brought into the planet Urras. Additionally, John and
Shevek both share a common goal, which is to change the civilized societies. Although they share this
goal, they plan on doing it in different ways. However, both John and Shevek are unsuccessful in
achieving their goal. Thus, the authors criticize that even in a civilized society, the collective is much
stronger than the individual and is therefore not capable of change.
First of all, in Brave New World, John is the ultimate outsider to civilization because he is a hybrid
between the two societies that are presented in the novel, thus making him an individual. His ... Show

Hitler s Second World War Essay
On the morning of June 22, 1941, three German army groups, consisting of over three million
soldiers, 150 divisions, and three thousand tanks, attacked across the frontier into Soviet territory. The
front covered nearly two thousand miles and took the Red Army almost entirely by surprise. Adolf
Hitler titled the invasion Operation Barbarossa , and it was the critical turning point of the Second
World War. The goal of Hitler s Directive Number 21 was to destroy the Red Army s fighting
capabilities in the West, create a buffer that denied the Russian Airforce the ability to attack territory
of the German Reich, establish a general line along the Volga River to Archangel, and ultimately
destroy the Soviet Union. For many people it s not surprising that Operation Barbarossa failed and
forced Germany to fight a two front war against a coalition possessing superior resources, leading to
the eventual defeat and destruction of Hitler s Third Reich .
The Third Reich wasn t the first Empire to be defeated in the vastness of Russia, barely 120 years
earlier, Napoleon suffered a staggering defeat that led to the dissolution of the First French Empire.
With what history has taught us it seems like common knowledge that a land invasion of Russia is
doomed to failure, but in 1941 it wasn t too farfetched of an idea to think that the German Army would
be able to defeat Russia. Hitler felt that Operation Barbarossa would be successful and ultimately
launched the invasion because

The word black has several different meanings. It could be simply the color of something, nothing
more than a clear cut descriptive word. But in some cases there is a double meaning behind this color.
Oprah talks of a man saying, ... his skin black and he was being celebrated. Winfrey talks of the color
of black as a race, a race that had been treated as less since the foundations of America was set into
place. This man she spoke of was Sidney Poitier, who was the first ever African American to win this

An education process is more complex than talking to someone, telling them what you want them to
learn about or learn how to do, and them knowing it or doing it. The purpose of education is to teach
the learner a specific task, or specific information. An education plan consists of specific components.
The components are simple or complex and each component leads to the next. When all the
components are included, the teacher and the learner will have a successful educational experience.
Purpose
The purpose or mission of the education is based upon the mission of the organization or institution in
which the education is taking ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The educator will then build his goals based on the student s performance, skills, and behavior. Next,
the educator will develop goals based on the education material being taught. What will the student be
learning about?
Objectives
The objectives of the education are statements about the purpose of the education. These are brief
statements answering specific questions. The ABCD model for writing objectives will assist the
educator in creating objectives for the education. The ABCD of writing objectives is described as: the
audience (A), the behavior (B), the conditions (C), and the degree (D) (Yamanaka, amp; Woo, 2014, p.
77). The objectives give clear statements regarding who will be learning, what they will learn, how
they will complete the task, and how many times they need to complete the task to be considered
proficient.
How to Write Objectives The instructor needs to make the objective an observable behavior and an
object of that behavior. For example, the student will be able to do an IV is unclear. The better
objective would be, the student will be able to insert an IV lock into the patient s extremity and start
IV fluids into the IV lock. When an objective is vague, the learners can interpret it in many different
ways.
Outcomes
The outcomes of the education are consistently demonstrated at the conclusion of the education. The
learning outcome is what the learner knows and is able to complete

Why Vitamin C Helps Prevent The Common Cold Or Not
My topic is whether vitamin C helps prevent the common cold or not. In the Medical Journal of
Australia it described a study that was a double blind, randomized clinical trial with comparing the
effects of different doses and formulations of vitamin C. Vitamin C doses at a daily dose was 0.03 g
the placebo, and then 1 g, 3 g or Bio C with additives such as bioflavonoids 75mg, rutin 150 mg,
hisperidin 150 mg, rose hip extract 750 mg, and acerola 150 mg that was taken at onset of a cold and
the following two days. There were 400 healthy volunteers that were recruited from staff and students
of Australian National University for 18 months. A random number table was constructed to order the
medications sequentially, so each sequence of four numbers comprised all four types of medications.
The medications were issued to investigators in 400 sequentially numbered sets of three bottles, each
bottle containing the daily dose in three tablets. Of those 400 sets of medication, they were distributed
to 323 volunteers. As volunteers joined the study, they were given a set of three bottles and a
correspondingly numbered respiratory event card to record outcome. The code was retained by the
manufacturer until ready to analyze results. These participants were instructed to take the medication
when starting to experience two symptoms for a minimum of four hours before taking the medication.
They also had to record their daily symptoms and the severity of them, the doctor visits and the

Examples Of Cultural Issues In The 1920s
The 1920s was a breeding ground for racial violence and cultural wars. These social issues impacted
many different people groups. Racial violence was a bad issue in the 1920s because it lead to many
deaths and injuries. An example of this is the Tulsa race riot killing 39 and injuring over 800 people.
The cultural wars in the 1920s were a result of the conflict between conservative ideas and liberal
ideas. The main conflict was between the fast city way of life and the slow rural way of life. This was
bad because it created a divide between the people creating conflict and more social issues. A few of
the cultural issues of the 1920s were Prohibition and the Red Scare. Prohibition was the prevention of
manufacturing alcohol in the 1920s. This

The Bright Side Of School Uniforms. Education In The United
The Bright Side of School Uniforms Education in the United States from Kindergarten all the way to
12th grade is known for its free education system. That s right, students all over the country are given
the opportunity to retrieve a high school diploma for free. Education in this country is so important
that schools around the country are pushing their board of education to propose the policy of school
uniforms nationwide, as they believe school uniforms have a very beneficial and positive effect on a
student s learning abilities, behavior, and lifestyle. School uniforms are increasingly becoming more
popular throughout the United States, therefore schools across the country are aware of how the
uniforms help students make higher grades, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
School uniforms are typically enforced by private or charter institutions, however, public schools
across the country are increasingly adopting the proposal of these uniforms. Who knew that the way a
student dresses everyday could have such a responsible role in the increase of their performance
within the classroom? Studies conducted by David L. Brunsma, a professor at Virginia Tech, discuss
the overall effect of school uniforms on a student body. The text mentions how about one in five
public schools during the 2013 2014 school year have effectively established school uniforms at their
institutions. This percentage may seem doubtfully small but from the perspective of how many public
schools are in the United States, which is roughly ninety nine thousand, the number of effected
schools in the country is quite a few. Although there is not any numerical percentage of how much a
student s academic achievement increases, it is well known that uniforms simply make a student feel
more calm and confident in themselves in general. School uniforms are also beneficial in preventing
visual distraction amongst the student body within the classroom, because with an effective school
uniform policy there are much less dress code violations from both genders that can be seen as
provocative attire. .

Common Information Security Threats
As company s dependence on computers and the internet increase, there are more and more threats
that they face from hackers and anarchist alike. For ever solution that companies come up with to
defend themselves against cyber attacks, those who wish to do harm find other means to attack, it is a
constant cat and mouse struggle. If 2011 has been any indication, it is clear that everyone is vulnerable
to cyber attacks. There was wave after wave of hacking, malware, and spear phishing attacks that
succeeded in exploiting many well known businesses, such as RSA and Sony, which lead to the
exposure of millions of records. (Schwartz, 2012) The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But as the use of these devices increase in the workplace, so does the threat of compromising
information through malware. Just as recently, the Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3), a
government task force that includes the FBI, issued a mobile malware warning stating: The IC3 has
been made aware of various malware attacking Android operating systems for mobile devices, the
warning said. Some of the latest known versions of this type of malware are Loozfon and FinFisher.
(Kerr, 2012)
Most of the malware that infects mobile devices are delivered through bogus e mail messages that are
sent to the user. Once the link is clicked, the malware is then installed and can either steal information
from the user, or some can even take over components of the Smartphone itself. Various security
reports state that mobile malware has been on the rise over the past year and that it has been
multiplying at a faster rate now than any other time in the last four years.
Mobile device operating systems (iOS, Android, Blackberry, and Windows) have been updating their
systems in hopes of offsetting the rise in malware being passed along. As the updates come out, so
does new hacks and malware over time. One step that users can use to help minimize their chances of
catching malware on their mobile device is by uninstalling all unneeded programs and

Why Did The Viggoth Invade The Greeks
The Visigoths were a part of the german barbaric tribe the Goths. They were settled in the western part
of Germany near the black sea, this was their original origin. Their enemy were The Huns, a barbaric
group from modern day central Asia. This is important information because The Huns were the reason
why the Visigoths went to Rome. The Huns had started to invade and The Visigoths asked roman
emperor Valen for shelter. The Romans were happy with having them there and they wanted them to
assimilate to Roman culture. They ended up settling in an area near Danube. By 376 CE. The
Visigoths began to feel mistreated by the Roman governors and began to rebel. This barbaric rebellion

After the Valens death the new emperor Theodosius tried to create peace between the Romans and the
Visigoths. This was only successful until the death of Theodosius in 395 CE. After that the Visigoths
began to see Alaric I as their king. He tried to bring Visigoth culture into Roman culture by using
Visigoth governors. Alaric I took Visigothic forces into Greece to begin and take over. After he was
done with Greece he went back to Italy and in 410 CE began to sack Rome. When Alaric I died,
Athaulf was the new leader and he took over Gaul and created the Visigothic Kingdom of Toulouse.
Many leaders later the Visigoths managed to take over a large chunk of Spain. In 507 CE, Frank leader
Clovis defeated Visigoth leader Alaric II in the battle of Clovis and the Visigothic kingdom became
Frankish. The legacy that the Visigoths left were that they are seen as nation builders. They were the
first to create a united kingdom and be successful. The Visigoths themselves did not make any

Prosocial Behavior And Behavior Behaviors
Prosocial behavior is behavior that is intended to benefit someone else; behaviors such as helping
others, comforting, sharing, cooperative, reasoning, defending, and showing (Fiske, 2014). Prosocial
behavior is doing things for others with expecting something in return, but their different types of
prosocial behaviors. There are Egoism, altruism, collective and principlism (Fiske, 2014), all similar
but also different. Altruism is helping someone out of consideration rather than one owns needs
(Fiske, 2014)). When you are thinking about helping someone you always assume they are only doing
it so they can receive something in return but why not think they are doing it just because they want
to. When it comes to altruism, it is said that people to do things because they feel empathy. The
empathy altruistic hypothesis states if a person is in need empathetic feelings come such as sympathy,
compassion, tenderness and like (Hogg Cooper, 2007). If there is a car on the side of the road with a
flat tire, many people will not stop they will keep going, they may have the assumption that a tow
truck is coming or someone else is going to come, especially if they are in a rush they will not stop.
But you have some people who will feel emotions and stop because they would not want this
happening to them, they will pull over and help regardless of what they have to do, or about to be late
to. There could also be a downfall to this. Beggars take advantage of people who are empathetic,

The Secession of the South Essay
Tensions between the North and South had grown steadily since the anti slavery movement in 1830.
Several compromises between the North and South regarding slavery had been passed such as the
Nebraska Kansas and the Missouri act; but this did little to relieve the strain. The election of President
Lincoln in 1861 proved to be the boiling point for the South, and secession followed. This eventually
sparked the civil war; which was viewed differently by the North and the South. The Northern goal
was to keep the Union intact while the Southern goal was to separate from the Union. Southern
leaders gave convincing arguments to justify secession. Exploring documents from South Carolina s
secession ordinance and a speech from the Georgia ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They further claimed that the fugitive slave act was not being enforced therefore the compact was no
longer protecting the property, the general welfare or securing prosperity for the south. South Carolina
s economy was driven by slave labor and slaves were seen as property. None compliance of the
Fugitive Slave act did impact the future economy and prior investments of the citizens in South
Carolina. It is also noted that domestic tranquility was being disrupted with the increasing number of
abolitionists from the North. Having broken these promises in the Constitution allowed re lease from
obligation to the Union. With no justice the South would not be able to have an arbiter so were entitled
to judge for themselves the facts and failures of the contract. It also allowed the South to determine the
consequences for the failure. The South chose secession as the consequence. Using these claims the
Southern leaders justified secession of the South. The second document the speech to Georgia from
Mississippi Secession Commissioner charges the North with disregard for the constitution based on
Article 1 sec 2 9, Article 4 section 2 and therefore being hostile and an enemy to the South. They

creating the Organizational Development Department. I look forward to working with all of you

3. Assumed because they were not agreeing with him they were not committed to the new product.

money being a problem.
5. Assumed a meeting would resolve all problems.
6. Assumed the customer would be happy with whatever product was developed and launched.
7. Assumed Kelly was being a smart ass because he questioned his knowledge about QC.
Pat argued that the scanner needed to be launched in retail, not banks or other easy markets. He also
argued with Chris, Kelly s manager, that Kelly informed him that it would not be a problem to expand
the iScanner. Another argument he made is he had bigger problems than to listen to than answering
other questions presented by other staff members. Pats decision to launch a new product in a new
market was sound. To be the first company on the market with a new product to get ahead of your
competitors is a good market strategy. His idea to use an outside contractor was unsound because we
are already in a budget deficit and there is now guarantee that the contractor would have the product
completed in time. His statement about having bigger problems than to answer questions from other
staff members was an emotional one. I think he felt nobody wanted to work with

Saint Sebastian Was An Important Event In Italian s Life
The saint that I choose to follow as an example and pray to and whose name I chosen for
Confirmation is Saint Sebastian. His feast day is January 20th. Saint Sebastian had many very
important events occur throughout his life, but there were three that stood out to me. The first thing
that impressed me about Saint Sebastian was that he converted many Roman prisoners and the
governor of Rome to Christianity. He did this even though he knew that if he was caught he would be
killed. The next important event was after he was discovered to be a Christian he was sentenced to be
executed. He was shot with arrows and left to die. Saint Sebastian survived his execution with the help
of God. The next important event in his life was when the Roman emperor ... Show more content on

The virtue that was he practiced the most was courage. Saint Sebastian shows courage when he
converts all of the prisoners and the governor to Christianity even though he knew he was putting his
own and their lives in great danger. Saint Sebastian resembles Jesus in many ways. One way that Jesus
is resembled by Saint Sebastian is that he risks his life to teach others about the word of God. Another
way Saint Sebastian resembles Jesus is that he encouraged others to be strong in their faith.
There are many ways that I could follow Saint Sebastian s example in my everyday life. One way I
could follow his example is when I am in a bad situation I could do what God would want me to do
just like what Saint Sebastian did. The next way I can follow Saint Sebastian s example is by helping
others who have any doubt about the teachings of God. The last way is by practicing the virtue of
courage just like Saint Sebastian did.
I chose the confirmation name Sebastian because Saint Sebastian had a unyielding relationship with
God. He inspires me to make even small sacrifices to God because he was willing to risk his life
teaching others about God.

Dickens A Christmas Carol and the Industrial Revolution
Besides being the secular story of Christmas time in an
urban setting, A Christmas Carol, tells the sacred story of
Christmas as well. With A Christmas Carol, Dickens initiated an
ongoing creative process in the Anglo American imagination. As a
result of the Industrial Revolution and the growth and

city. As industrialization continued, for many people in the city

While some argue that Dickens was prompted by the plight
of the poor to write a story bringing some of the traditional
Christmas spirit to the city using a secular story, there is clear
evidence that Dickens looked to religious beliefs and Christian
values as a way to keep Christmas sacred and also as a way to
respond to the problems society was facing. In particular, the time
Scrooge spends with the Ghost of Christmas Future shows how
Dickens asserts various Christian values. Just as Jesus speaks of
welcoming and caring for children as a way of honoring God,
Dickens story suggests the same moral and Christian value; in this
case the caring for Tiny Tim and his poor family as a way of
honoring God. A more symbolic lesson can be seen by

Information, Knowledge, And The Dissemination Of...
Information, and the dissemination thereof, is based on usefulness. It is the foundation upon which we
as humans derive knowledge and understanding from to eventually communicate across platforms and
cultures. As it continues to permeate society, the formation, understanding and transmission of
information becomes heavily specified and relative to the type of information collected, who it is
useful to and how it will be used to generate widespread understanding. This is evidenced in how
people seek and use information in their modern daily lives. A widely accepted model of this process
comprises itself of the following components: data, information, knowledge, understanding and
wisdom to an extent and the synthesis of these components is foundational to understanding how
information is relative and consumed in its specificity today (Ackoff, 1989). Using differing
arguments to examine differing perspectives, I will seek to establish the place of information within
this hierarchy and how it applies to how we establish the use of information as it persists as a
standalone concept in today s society. When people determine the usefulness of data to transform it
into information and therefore understanding, it is essential to establish a mode by which this occurs.
One attempt to do this is evidenced in Russell Ackoff s (1989) article, From Data to Wisdom . As a
general argument, Ackoff (1989) seeks to qualify a model consisting of: data, information, knowledge,
understanding

Fryd Statue Of Freedom Summary
Fryd critics issues in public art, as well as an analysis in the historical developments in public art in

But also, he explains how the Statue of Freedom, and the bronze statue atop the U.S Capital dome in
Washington, D.C., was altered to accommodate racial politics of antebellum America. I believe art
comes in role in many aspects in history and politics, such as Fryd examines the objections in both

First Fryd knowledges the secretary of war s rejection of the liberty cap. As Fryd states, However, for

Core competencies create differentiation and sustainable competitive advantage in the target market,

including: employee involvement, brand recognition and family environment.
One of the things that sets Harley Davidson s culture apart from other businesses is employee
involvement. The participation of the employees in the business has been an essential component to
there success. In order to maximize employee involvement, the hierarchy and layers of management
have been minimized and an open door policy extends throughout the Company. Employees aren t
allowed to check their brains at the door or avoid responsibility or accountability. All employees are
expected to take the initiative to identify problems and solve them. In the late 80s, the Harley

Business Process was created with the goal of better aligning employees contributions with the
Company s goals. The idea is for the Company to share its vision so that all of its employees can put

Some people have reason to believe that the dark interior of the space shuttle looked like the darkness
of space, and the circular window gave the circular shape of the earth. The film also states that one of
the astronauts used a crescent shape to alter the shape of the earth as they drifted farther into space.
The consistency of the video was also at question. The film shows decent quality color video inside of
the spaceship, but the film on the moon was black and white. Many conspiracy theorists claim that the
video footage was leaked from NASA by accident. When the video footage was leaked conspiracy
theorist dissected the footage and made a hypothesis of how the footage was produced. NASA says
that every theory is false and they stand behind their statements firm.
What motivated the moon landing?
The moon landing was highly motivated by the space race between the United States, and the Soviet
Union. The space race caused a very tense tone in each country, as they both were trying to be the first
to make it into space. The Soviet Union made the first milestone by launching Sputnik into the earth s

The Heightening of Airport Security after September 11th
Extraordinary challenges require extraordinary measures. The terrorist attacks on
America on September 11, 2001 required that we reform our nation s aviation security system in
fundamental ways. Three years after the Sept. 11 tragedies, how far has airport and airlines come? It
depends on the source. While it is important for airports to heighten security after the attacks of 9/11,
the policies of profiling passengers are inadequate and a necessitate revision.
The most visible changes to boost airport securities may be on the airplanes themselves. Many planes
have installed bulletproof, locked cockpit doors to secure the pilot and crew from the rest of the plane.

The process of screening and profiling has contributed to numerous complaints from passengers who
have been selected for additional screening. Passenger profiling at the airport should not be the sole

to prevent potential customers from flying without providing a meaningful prevention to terrorism,
that measure should be relaxed or eliminated. Passengers profiling should be utilized in conjunction
with information received from our intelligence community. Close examination and revision of this
system is obviously necessary.
Our current profiling system is based on a computer program that was developed several years ago.
Many people have begun submitting formal comments to the Privacy Office of the U.S. Department of
Homeland Security, urging it to stop airline passenger screening programs that are administered by the
Transportation Security Administration (TSA). These programs allow travel authorities to access
personal information about each passenger from government and commercial databases (Privacy

  • 2. The Rise Of Pop Art In the 1940s the United States and the allies were in the midst of a deadly war against their Nazi German counterparts, World War II officially ended in 1945 and the Allies were victorious. In the early 1950s the post war economic boom in both the United States of America and Great Britain, gave the people optimism and money to spend as the super markets were filled with all kinds of consumer goods . The economy was good and people were happy. Capitalizing on the post war economic boom of the 1950s were advertisers. Advertising persuaded many, it told people what was popular, what was good, and what to buy. Advertising and glossy magazines were found everywhere, in the street, the highway, and even at the comfort of your own house as you opened the newspaper. This mass marketing phenomenon was incorporated with the rise of Pop Art. It paved the way for iconic artist such as Andy Warhol and Jasper Johns . With the rise of this bona fide American phenomenon also brought critics. Critics asked and wondered how a can of soup or a soft drink could be considered art. Pop artist, Andy Warhol responded by stating, Art is what you can get away with. What made pop art popular? It was brash, transient, witty, hostile, young, mass produced, and most importantly it was low cost . Pop art was the new art movement of the 1950s and 1960s, it was the successor of the art movement of a decade earlier. • 3. Change Chalenge And Management Essay Change, Challenge, and Management INTRODUCTION Few words can strike more fear into the heart of an individual than change. We are creatures of habit and feel most secure when we are doing what we know. But how are the three distinct words Change , Challenge and Management , connected? These words are interconnected and interdependent. Effective change management involves aligning all enterprise resources physical assets, know how, technology and people simultaneously, but with a different intensity at the organizational, work group and individual levels. Yes, it is a challenge. This is the challenge of the modern enterprise: to be relevant in the context of its dynamic marketplace and to maintain that relevance even in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Change in management entails thoughtful planning and sensitive implementation, and above all, consultation with, and involvement of, the people affected by the changes. If you force change on people normally problems arise. Change must be realistic, achievable and measurable. These aspects are especially relevant to managing personal change. Before starting organizational change, ask yourself: What do we want to achieve with this change, why, and how will we know that the change has been achieved? Who is affected by this change, and how will they react to it? How much of this change can we achieve ourselves, and what parts of the change do we need help with? These aspects also relate strongly to the management of personal as well as organizational change. THEORIES OF CHANGE Theory of change refers to the causal processes through which change comes about as a result of a program s strategies and action. It relates to how practitioners believe individual, intergroup, and social/ systemic change happens and how, specifically, their actions will produce positive results. Theories of change can be identified either prospectively as part of planning an initiative or retrospectively as part an evaluative process. In either case, this kind of analysis requires both time and honest reflection from program leaders and practitioners. An early model of change developed by Kurt Lewin described change as a three stage process. The first stage he called unfreezing . ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Mid Tudor Crisis To what extent was there a mid Tudor crisis, 1539 1563? The concept of a mid Tudor crisis arrived under the scrutiny of modern scholarship largely through a priori reasoning and was first broadly promulgated by W.R.D. Jones in his 1973 book The Mid Tudor Crisis1539 1563 . Jones attested a series of problems that seem to have been ever present in mid Tudor England (Jones, 1973, p. 6), exhibiting a close relationship (Jones, 1973, p. 6) with one another as a crisis . This compounded succession of agricultural volatility, deficiencies in administrative decree, specifically the troubled shadowed reigns of Edward VI and Mary I, (Jones, 1973, p.19) and divisive religious reformation, as Jones was to surmise, directly resulted in fluctuations ... The fruitless campaigns of 1544 and 1550 demanded an estimated 3.5 million pounds, the reciprocal yield from domestic taxation of the same period amounting to a fraction of that cost at 976,000. (Matusiak, 2005) Disastrously Henry VIII addressed this deficiency by administrating a series of debasements continued by his successors until by 1551the silver content in coins had decreased to 25% of what it had been in 1542. This economic maelstrom (Matusiak, 2005, p.33) was further exacerbated by the collapse of the wool trade; exports plummeting by 35% in 1552, paralleled in the forthcoming years by the depredation of the agricultural industry as a repercussion of the 1554 1556 harvest failures (caused by the inundating of heavy rain), agricultural laborers wages dropped around 60% and the cost of necessary commodities (food, drink, housing) cost the lower classes 80% (Jones, 1973, p. 78) of their reduced incomes as demonstrated by the 1551 imploration of Bishop Hooper (addressing Secretary ... P501 Operations Management Spring 2013 Term Paper The Emergence of Check Imaging Technologies and the Impacts of to Banks and Consumer and Small Business Customers Thanks in part to advancements in check imaging technology; financial institutions have an opportunity to make major changes to outdated check processing systems. Bank executives are weighing the benefits with the potential risks of updating a system that has been virtually untouched since the 1970 s. These emerging imaging technologies have the potential to remove the high transportations costs associated with transporting physical checks and reduce the flow time (float) it takes between check deposit and funds availability. • 8. Marilyn Monroe Emotional Issues One of the things a woman wants most in this world is for someone to relate and/or understand her. Ever since I can remember, I ve had that one person to look up to that I felt could relate to me. As long as I can remember, that person was Marilyn Monroe. At about the age of 5, I saw her face on the television screen and by about the age of 12 years old, I was researching all I could about her. The more I learned about her, the more my love grew for her and the more I knew she would understand me if she were here today. Marilyn Monroe was an iconic celebrity but also very relatable to the average woman who deals things such as tough emotional issues, harsh body image problems and having a hard time trusting people or building relationships. Everyone has issues that we deal with; we re only human, right? The emotional issues we deal with daily can be anger, sadness, depression, etc. Marilyn dealt with these emotions as much as anyone else, but there was a time she had said, I am not a victim of emotional conflicts. I am human . She understood that as a human being, we all have emotional problems, but it s how one deals with their emotions that matters. These emotional issues can stem from many different situations or moments in our life. Dealing with a bully in school, an abusive parent or whatever it may be, can cause these issues. Unfortunately, Marilyn had to deal with emotional issues stemming form the relationship with her mother. One of Marilyn s family members was quoted saying: Gladys didn t hug, kiss or smile, Marilyn s niece, Mona Rae Miracle, exclusively tells Closer. She was delusional, and she heard voices from electrical appliances. She was antisocial and unable to express any emotion, except anger . Marilyn s mother s inability to feel or express emotions was of no benefit to the growth of an impressionable girl such as Marilyn. Marilyn unfortunately paid dearly from this and grew up battling her emotions all of the time. So, knowing what we ve learned so far, there s no doubt that Marilyn Monroe dealt with the same kind of problems your average jane deals with. Medical jargon is not at all meant to speak in pig latin in front of a patient. It is so that there is no mistake when doctors are conveying information about a patient to each other. For example, to a lay person, fever may mean that the person feels hot, or that the temperature is above 100 Fahrenheit. But no one really knows and can cause a lot of confusion. With medical terms, things are very clear, so that even a surgeon in France can read a scientific journal article and know exactly what the author means. • 11. Personality Change In Macbeth In William Shakespeare s Macbeth , the title character undergoes a serious personality change. At the plays beginning Macbeth is a loyal and honorable man who, unfortunately, is immensely ambitious. As the play progresses however, Macbeth begins to lose the honor that he held onto so dearly. Macbeths descent into dishonor is displayed in the two most prominent murders in the first 3 acts: the slaying of Duncan and the assassination of Banquo. When Lady Macbeth is convincing her husband to murder the king, the reader is able to detect his hesitation to commit such a heinous crime. Also, the remorse Macbeth feels after he murders Duncan proves that he still possesses some of that honor and loyalty he originally held in such high regard. However, when Macbeth has Banquo killed he has changed into a cold and evil man. He, Macbeth, no longer clings to his honor and loyalty. Much argument has also gone on about the place and time of writing of Mark and how this influences the traditioning or the handing on of the story. How the original written version came to be from the oral process is also a cause for the concern as regards continuity of the story. Was it faithfully translated? Nineham states that Jesus very character was determined by the particular circumstances in which the tradition was handed down. Those who kept it shaped the tradition itself. They had their own motives and beliefs and these have influenced the tradition that has brought out the character of Jesus as we know today (Nineham 1986: 21). This traditioning was a process that began by orally recounting the story at private or public gatherings. In both worlds, society allows [its people] to enjoy so called rights and deprive [them] of others (Biddle 2012). Similarly, both authors introduce an outsider to each of the collective societies. In Brave New World, the main protagonist, John, is the outsider from the Savage Reservation being brought into the civilized World State. In the same way, Le Guin introduces Shevek as the outsider being brought into the planet Urras. Additionally, John and Shevek both share a common goal, which is to change the civilized societies. Although they share this goal, they plan on doing it in different ways. However, both John and Shevek are unsuccessful in achieving their goal. Thus, the authors criticize that even in a civilized society, the collective is much stronger than the individual and is therefore not capable of change. Hitler s Second World War Essay On the morning of June 22, 1941, three German army groups, consisting of over three million soldiers, 150 divisions, and three thousand tanks, attacked across the frontier into Soviet territory. The front covered nearly two thousand miles and took the Red Army almost entirely by surprise. Adolf Hitler titled the invasion Operation Barbarossa , and it was the critical turning point of the Second World War. The goal of Hitler s Directive Number 21 was to destroy the Red Army s fighting capabilities in the West, create a buffer that denied the Russian Airforce the ability to attack territory of the German Reich, establish a general line along the Volga River to Archangel, and ultimately destroy the Soviet Union. For many people it s not surprising that Operation Barbarossa failed and forced Germany to fight a two front war against a coalition possessing superior resources, leading to the eventual defeat and destruction of Hitler s Third Reich . The Third Reich wasn t the first Empire to be defeated in the vastness of Russia, barely 120 years earlier, Napoleon suffered a staggering defeat that led to the dissolution of the First French Empire. • 27. Prosocial Behavior And Behavior Behaviors Prosocial behavior is behavior that is intended to benefit someone else; behaviors such as helping others, comforting, sharing, cooperative, reasoning, defending, and showing (Fiske, 2014). Prosocial behavior is doing things for others with expecting something in return, but their different types of prosocial behaviors. There are Egoism, altruism, collective and principlism (Fiske, 2014), all similar but also different. Altruism is helping someone out of consideration rather than one owns needs (Fiske, 2014)). When you are thinking about helping someone you always assume they are only doing it so they can receive something in return but why not think they are doing it just because they want to. When it comes to altruism, it is said that people to do things because they feel empathy. The empathy altruistic hypothesis states if a person is in need empathetic feelings come such as sympathy, compassion, tenderness and like (Hogg Cooper, 2007). If there is a car on the side of the road with a flat tire, many people will not stop they will keep going, they may have the assumption that a tow truck is coming or someone else is going to come, especially if they are in a rush they will not stop. But you have some people who will feel emotions and stop because they would not want this happening to them, they will pull over and help regardless of what they have to do, or about to be late to. There could also be a downfall to this. Beggars take advantage of people who are empathetic, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 28. The Secession of the South Essay Tensions between the North and South had grown steadily since the anti slavery movement in 1830. Several compromises between the North and South regarding slavery had been passed such as the Nebraska Kansas and the Missouri act; but this did little to relieve the strain. The election of President Lincoln in 1861 proved to be the boiling point for the South, and secession followed. This eventually sparked the civil war; which was viewed differently by the North and the South. The Northern goal was to keep the Union intact while the Southern goal was to separate from the Union. Southern leaders gave convincing arguments to justify secession. Exploring documents from South Carolina s secession ordinance and a speech from the Georgia ... It is also noted that domestic tranquility was being disrupted with the increasing number of abolitionists from the North. He also argued with Chris, Kelly s manager, that Kelly informed him that it would not be a problem to expand the iScanner. Another argument he made is he had bigger problems than to listen to than answering other questions presented by other staff members. Pats decision to launch a new product in a new market was sound. To be the first company on the market with a new product to get ahead of your competitors is a good market strategy. His idea to use an outside contractor was unsound because we are already in a budget deficit and there is now guarantee that the contractor would have the product completed in time. His feast day is January 20th. Saint Sebastian had many very important events occur throughout his life, but there were three that stood out to me. The first thing that impressed me about Saint Sebastian was that he converted many Roman prisoners and the governor of Rome to Christianity. He did this even though he knew that if he was caught he would be killed. The next important event was after he was discovered to be a Christian he was sentenced to be executed. He was shot with arrows and left to die. Saint Sebastian survived his execution with the help of God. The next important event in his life was when the Roman emperor ... Another way Saint Sebastian resembles Jesus is that he encouraged others to be strong in their faith. There are many ways that I could follow Saint Sebastian s example in my everyday life. One way I could follow his example is when I am in a bad situation I could do what God would want me to do just like what Saint Sebastian did. • 33. Information, Knowledge, And The Dissemination Of... Information, and the dissemination thereof, is based on usefulness. It is the foundation upon which we as humans derive knowledge and understanding from to eventually communicate across platforms and cultures. As it continues to permeate society, the formation, understanding and transmission of information becomes heavily specified and relative to the type of information collected, who it is useful to and how it will be used to generate widespread understanding. This is evidenced in how people seek and use information in their modern daily lives. A widely accepted model of this process comprises itself of the following components: data, information, knowledge, understanding and wisdom to an extent and the synthesis of these components is foundational to understanding how information is relative and consumed in its specificity today (Ackoff, 1989). Using differing arguments to examine differing perspectives, I will seek to establish the place of information within this hierarchy and how it applies to how we establish the use of information as it persists as a standalone concept in today s society. When people determine the usefulness of data to transform it into information and therefore understanding, it is essential to establish a mode by which this occurs. One attempt to do this is evidenced in Russell Ackoff s (1989) article, From Data to Wisdom . As a general argument, Ackoff (1989) seeks to qualify a model consisting of: data, information, knowledge, understanding ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
