Why Do Myths Exist
Myths like the loch ness monster and Bigfoot were big stories but no real proven evidence of their
existence. Many investigations were made and a lot of so called evidence to prove that such myth
exist. But there is one thing that most myths don t have and that s government officials getting
involved. If a myth is that serious in order to involve the government, it s got to be a pretty big myth.
Similarly aliens were really never proven to exist until the summer of 1947 on a small ranch outside of
Roswell, New Mexico (History pg.1).a Man by the name of Mac Brazel witnessed a supposed alien
crash in his own backyard. This simple phone call to a sheriff s office turned into a secret government
cover up in a matter of minutes (History pg.1). And with these myths comes all the conspiracies and
ideas as to a real explanation of said myth. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What measure was this so called crash caused the government to come out and forcefully investigate?
General Roger Ramey ordered that he have the wreckage delivered to him immediately and that he
were to examine in the crashed material (Happened pg. 2).Seeing as several days of investigating the
crashed material it was a huge misunderstanding. The town s folk thought it was a crashed UFO,
before it were to hit the media General Ramey explained as to what had happened. As a press
conference was held with Major Marcel and the Brigadier General Roger, they explained that it was
not a crashed UFO it was in fact a crashed weather balloon and that there is nothing to worry about
(Happened pg. 2). After that the story had died for a couple of years. Along with this crazy report of a
crash landing UFO comes along hundreds of witnesses, claiming that they have indeed seen the
crashed UFO at Roswell (Happened pg. 3).When Mac first encountered the crash, the material was so
bizarre and unusual that he thought it come from out of space. But most people believe

Marketing Plan For A New Product
Whenever introducing a new product to a current market, an organization will need to prepare for
challenges they may face. For this reason, Kohler will need to be smart with our promotional and
advertising objectives when introducing Hygieia to the commercial and residential markets. Our
objectives will focus on building awareness, creating interest, providing information, stimulating
demand, and reinforcing the brand. Working with our big box retailers, we will need to work closely
with channel members and our sales force to help with the execution of our promotional objectives to
be effective (CITE1).
Kohler being a well known faucet manufacture and distributor helps us to connect with current and
new customers. Our first objective building awareness, is a vital part to determine if the product will
be expanded to more stores outside of our test market. The first two months will be crucial, especially
when we need to present to The Home Depot and Lowes during our product line review, to show the
current sales performance. In this objective we will need to effectively reach out to our customers
though push promotional strategies to explain to our target customers the Hygieia value.
Our second objective will need to focus on providing information that can assist with customers in the
search stage when deciding to purchase a faucet for their home or business. With the Hygieia being
such a unique product to the market place it will have no competitors with the same dual soap

Frankenstein Research Paper
Frankenstein Research Paper In the novel, Frankenstein written by Marry Shelley, Victor had
undoubtedly become relentless in pursuing the reanimation of life in an inanimate lifeless being.
Victor could have inevitabely be called obsessed with his work. Victor Frankenstein had always been
curious about the reanimation of human life. Until he attempted it and suceeded was when he knew he
made a mistake. Victor Frankenstein was blinded by curiosity and obsession. Victor Frankenstein
would become a victim of his own creation after creating such a being. Frankensein was always
obsessed with his work ingoring his family and loved ones:

So when Griffith compares the story to the nature of human beings, there is no doubt an impression on
Victor s curiosity and sanity:
Since Victor s story is a story of creation, murder, investigation, and pursuit, Frankenstein is ultimately
a book about our pursuit of self discovery, about the knowledge of the monster within us (Griffith 2).
Griffith further supports the idea of Victor being the problem and his ignorance becoming increasingly
detrimental to his family s health. Victor s actions inevitabely brings death and pain to his family
although the monster is responsible. Victor is the real monster for creating the monster and negleting
his very own creation. Also, after creating the being, he neglects its needs and wants and runs away
from his responsibility as the creator. This quote from Mary Shelley s novel, Frankenstein, shows that
Victor, being too binded in his ambitions, did not think through the process of creating a human and
rushed it creating a bitter and crushed soul:
Yet you, my creator, detest and spurn me, thy creature (Shelley 83).
William A. Walling goes on to say, ...still later, as the monster recalls the anguish he has endured
because the life given him has fallen so short of his innate desires, he cries bitterly to Frankenstein
(Walling1)
When Frankenstein created the monster, he created a living, breathing soul that could now

Difference Between Altruism And Altruism
INTRODUCTION
Our generation today focuses much more on personal gain, prioritizing themselves for pleasure and
self enjoyment. We are in a generation where good name is no more preferred or precious than gold,
rather, money is a good name and more precious than a good one, where love for one self, vanity, and
giving importance on earthly things counts as a way of having success by pursuing what is best for us
and for our loved ones. The Me Generation only shows that people give so much gratitude and
admiration to themselves, and that their concentration is self centered and egoistic. This kind of
attitude leads people to care less about the social, political, economic and environmental aspects of our
lives. Today s generation focuses on acquiring worldly things by having so much money, power, and
fame, whereas the idea of having concern with other people in the society is starting to disappear. The
I syndrome is placing ourselves before others; a situation whereby people seek their own interests and
needs to satisfy themselves, families, relatives and those close to them first before others. Regardless
of the fact that there are people that are into the I syndrome, there still exists an act of being concerned
about other people s happiness called Altruism . Altruism, in contrast with the I syndrome, is an
unselfish concern for other ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This behavior refers to any action that benefits other people, no matter what the motive or how the
giver benefits from the action. By that, we could say that altruistic acts are pro social. However, pure
altruism consists of true selflessness and that, not all pro social acts are fully altruistic. Perhaps, this is
the reason why some people could not set apart altruism from egoism. Pure and absolute altruism can
be found once a person fully recognizes a selfless act from an act that is self beneficial and

The Last Rung Of The Latter Short Story
In The Last Rung of the Latter by Stephen King, Larry, the narrator receives a letter from his younger
sister, Kitty, that she wrote before she committed suicide. Larry retells a story from their childhood in
which he saved Kitty s life after she climbed a broken latter while they were playing a game. In this
short story Larry is forced to come to terms with his sister s death and deal with the guilt of not being
able to save her this time. The change of setting, the theme of guilt, and the use of symbolism all
greatly add to the meaning of this short story. The contrast in setting in The Last Rung Of The Latter is
used to show a change in feeling and mood as the characters grow older. Larry describes the morning
of the accident fondly, remembering how good the barn felt that day. When he begins talking about the
day in the barn, Larry says, On a day like that, the only really nice place to be was the barn. It was
warm, filled with a pleasant mixed aroma of hay and fur and dung, and with the mysterious clucking,
cooing sounds of the barn swallows high up in the third loft. (King 2). This quote indicates that Larry
thought of the barn as a homey and warm place. He does not dislike the setting of his childhood home,
despite the fact that is sister almost died on his terms while they were there. On the contrary, when
Larry speaks about where he lives in the present he seems to resent the constant moving and changing
of his life. Larry even says that, People move around

Family Focused Therapy Models Within The Context Of Grief...
The purpose of this paper is to analyze family focused therapy models within the context of grief and
bereavement. Of note, bereavement and grief often accompany a wide variety of losses however, this
paper will specifically focus on the physical loss or death of an immediate family member. First, this
paper will provide a brief background of bereavement, illustrating the stages of grief and potential
consequences. Additionally, it will examine the role of family in relation to the experience of
bereavement. Next, this paper will explore attachment theory and systems theory and how they can be
utilized to understand and evaluate bereavement within a familial context. This will lead to a
comparison of two theories often used when disserting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Typically the individual experiences misplaced feelings and attempts to place blame. The third stage
of grief is bargaining in which the individual is able to recognize that the circumstances cannot be
undone, but are still unable to accept what has occurred. The fourth stage of grief is depression where
the individual begins to comprehend the permanence of death and often disconnects in an attempt to
avoid retraumatization. Lastly, the fifth stage of grief is acceptance. It is during this stage that the
individual comes to terms with their loss and resumes stability (Kubler Ross, 1969). While grief and
bereavement are often a very personal, individualized experience it is important to note the influence,
both negative and positive that the family system holds. Familial composition, circumstances and
environment are all factors that possess the potential to influence the course of bereavement.
Attachment and Systems Theory
Attachment is commonly defined as an emotional bond that connects two people (Ma, 2006; McLeod,
2009). ADD. Attachment theory offers a developmental model for conceptualizing emotional distress
and symptomatic behavior as an adaptive response to emotion insecurity in parent child relationships.
Recent developments reveal empirically supported data in the application of attachment based family
therapy to the treatment of family distress, such as that experienced in the event of

Differences Between Greek Theatre And Theatre
Opera and theater share many similarities especially since the former is influenced by the latter. In his
text, A Short History of Opera, Donald Grout defines opera as a drama in music: a dramatic action,
exhibited on stage with scenery by actors in costume, the words conveyed entirely or for the most part
by singing, and the whole sustained and amplified by orchestral music (4). Opera literally translates to
work. The first known opera that was performed was in 1597. However, interestingly enough, the
word opera was not used until 1634 (Grout 1). The origins of seventeenth century opera can be traced
back to Greek drama and medieval theatre. Throughout the seventeenth century, many different kinds
of operas can be found from countries such as Italy, Germany, and England. In order to fully
understand opera and its inner workings, it is important to locate and learn the origin of opera.
Greek drama is said to be the model on which the creators of modern opera at the end of the sixteenth
century based their work on (Grout 11). There are substantial differences between Greek drama and
opera. For example, in Greek theater, the cast was made up of only men and young boys (Grout 13).
Also, it is important to note that these plays were not sung entirely. Rather, many parts were spoken
out loud like the singing was left to the chorus (Grout 12). The chorus s main function was to express
opinions or give advice. They also conveyed emotions for the audience to react to (Grout 12).

Reflection On Learning Disability
I begin the interview by introduced myself, and explaining the purpose of the interview, I informed the
narrator that this interview will be recorded, transcribed and both the disability and interview
experience will be presented in the class. I asked if she was comfortable with these conditions, and
letting her know if at any time she feel uncomfortable to answer any type of questions, she is under no
obligations to answer them. I started the recording and the interview by asking her a brief basic
personal information, including her age, where does she live and if she considered herself as disable.
Once we established that she considered her slight disable, to better understand why she considered
herself disable, and why only slightly, I asked her if she can describe on what she meant. She implied
that her learning disability affects her workforce, and her mental disability effects mostly on her social
participations. She would make mistakes at work, and having bipolar disorder mean she was easily
overwhelmed and may cause her coworkers to avoid her, and when she is depressed, she would avoid
interact with her coworkers.
For the reason that she has both learning disability and mental disorder, I felt strongly to understand
her childhood, I started with the questions that was provided by the instructor of the course, I wanted
to know about her childhood environment and her parents roles in her life. I was also curious about
her earliest memory, and whether she

Reading 7: Unromancing the Dream Summary
The reading begins with two researchers Aserinsky and Dement, researching into why humans need
sleep. Then, it begins to talk about another two researchers, Allan Hobson and Robert McCarley. They
both came up with a new theory about dreaming, which was in essence, was that dreams are nothing
more than your attempt to interpret random electrical impulses produced automatically in your brain
during REM sleep. (Hock 2013). Basically what they were saying is that while we sleep, a part of our
brain produces electrical charges in the brain stem. While we sleep most other parts of the brain are
inactive, but the brain stem isn t. Hobson and

Organizational Effect on Employee Psychology
Organizational Effect on Employee Psychology Organizations are defined as a social group of
individuals who come together to achieve a common goal or particular purpose. The success of an
organization starts with a solid foundation to build upon. The foundation starts with a vision, followed
by a clear and concise mission statement and supported by a great employee base that executes the
plans. When we magnify the layers of a successful organization, it usually reveals great leadership and
the loyal employees who follow them. Understanding the importance of great leadership and the value
of a high performing staff is critical to any organizations success. The relationship between the
organization and the employees psyche can be very ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I will discuss the key factors that are leading to the challenges this organization is facing today.
Furthermore, I will propose a plan to address the root cause of the problems the organization is having
with its employees, and show why these few simple changes will have such a positive impact on the
overall morale of the organization.
The Organizational Challenge Few organizations can say they have been around for over 100 years,
let alone 125 years. More remarkable, few can say that they have steadily increased revenue and
market share during this entire stretch of time. This organization can proudly state this fact, and is a
well known retail beast that has sold everything from clothing to cars, and hats to homes. This
organization has been nationally recognized over the past 100 years for excellence in retail and
revolutionizing shopping, as we know it including having the famous catalogue for shoppers to
browse in the privacy of their own homes long before the internet was even a thought in some
technology moguls mind. Organizations like this are bound to have I O psychology related issues, and
this was certainly the case when I worked for them from 2011 to 2013. I was a General Manager (GM)
for them and my store had upwards of 150 employees across multiple sales and operations
departments. Shortly before I started, the organization completed a national employee

The Darkness Of Relationships. Relationships Are The...
The Darkness of Relationships
Relationships are the foundation of everything in this world, especially in literature. If there is no
relationship present, there is essentially no story; in the short story A Temporary Matter by Jhumpa
Lahiri the entire story focuses on the married immigrants, Shoba and Shukumar, and their relationship.
Unfortunately, their relationship is an example of something that is commonly seen in many North
American relationships. Lahiri clearly depicts them as an unhappy couple that possesses a deeply
flawed marriage, and are only able to connect through negativity, irritation, and grief. This text clearly
portrays an intensely damaged relationship and shows the ways in which a relationship can quickly
fall apart ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On page 13 it states, Okay, he said, remembering. The first time we went out to dinner, to the
Portuguese place, I forgot to tip the waiter. I went back the next morning, found out his name, left
money with the manager. (Lahiri 13) This scene is the first night of their power being out, and
Shukumar s first confession to Shoba. It is about the memory of the first time they went out for dinner
together, which is a happy memory for both of them. It is also a humorous confession because it is
about something so simple and innocent. He finishes this confession in an adoring way, Shoba asks,
Why did you forget to tip the waiter? (Lahiri 14) and he replies with, By the end of the meal I had a
funny feeling I might marry you. (Lahiri 14) This shows how the use of memory brings a couple
closer together and allows them to feel a similar feeling that they might have felt when they were first
meeting. This is often referred to as the honeymoon phase of their relationship, meaning they are
happy and the relationship is still within its innocent state. They have little to no problems between the
two of them because they have known each other for such a short time. They are just beginning to fall
in love, and these types of joyful memories are the kind that people love to hold onto because of all
the wonderful feelings they get from them. As the nights go on, the confessions begin to change from

Literacy Definition Essay
The standardized definition of literacy has always been the ability to read and write, but the cultural
definition of literacy has always managed to change its shape based on the socioeconomic state of a
community. A child is first raised by their community and through such connection they are molded by
their community s standards of life. A community, whether it is rich or poor, holds the ability to
create/shape its own perception of literacy and therefor place a value on the importance of it. If
education is only expressed in an institutional form, a child will clearly feel a disconnect between
what they have learned at home and what has been taught in the classroom. Literacy in most
neighborhoods, including mine, took shape in writing on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The dog is a live free thinking being that has limited room to roam because it is always on a leash.
Sometimes the leash might get loose and allow the dog to roam further, but the fact that the dog is on a
leash does not change. The question then arises, what if the dog breaks free? What if the dog steals
away in the middle of the night and runaways into the woods? This new found freedom is exciting and
thrilling at first, but sooner rather than later the dog realizes it does not know how to survive on its
own. That being said, the great thing about a young dog is that, it can still learn new tricks. College is
a completely new territory where writing prompts are extremely vague and your paper is what you
decide. This new found freedom is strange and with less restrictions I find myself exploring forms of
literacy that utilize both standardized and cultural reading and writing. The standardized definition of
literacy is set by the ruling political power and it describes what politicians imagine the country
should be, completely disregarding the melting pot we have become. The cultural definition of literacy
reflects the true state of our country and it depicts a multitude of children s standards of living. When
you combine the two you gain new developments in the world of literacy and you annihilate the single

Compromise For The Compromise Of 1850
Compromise that means to come to an agreement, a settlement that brings peace, but not without some
discomfort for both sides. This compromise is hopefully long lasting and satisfying to both sides and
brings with it a rest. The Compromise of 1850 sounds like exactly that, but there is more to this
compromise. This compromise came when there was much dispute about the future of the western
lands recently acquired from the Mexican government California, Utah, and New Mexico. The
Southerners of America wanted the states entered into the union as slave states, while the Northerners
wanted them entered as free states. When this issue became more heated and continued to escalate,
The Great Compromiser, Mr. Henry Clay himself, came out of retirement to do his thing and create a
compromise. He proposed that California would enter the union as a Slave State and Utah and New
Mexico would enter as neutral, being neither a slave nor free state. Parts of both the North and the
South hated and liked this plan. Some misanthropists in the South threatened to secede from the union
and while the majority knew that to be rubbish at the time, it did eventually come true with the start of
the Civil War. The North wanted to see slavery come to an end and were fighting tooth and nail to see
that through. After months of debating and changes made to Clay s compromise it was eventually put
into action. There was still unrest in both the North and South, and the compromise only

The Labyrinth of Life in The Garden of Forking Paths by Yu Tsun
A labyrinth is classically a human construction designed to confuse. It can trap our lives, hiding our
past and future and constantly forcing us to make choices, even though we may not know what the
consequences of those choices might be. The confusion of the puzzle may even tempt us to run blindly
through the labyrinth, ending in disaster. Life itself is often considered such a labyrinth, and by
adopting the strategies of travelers who came before and choosing our path cautiously while playing
close attention to the patterns of our lives, we may find the right path through the maze. Although the
Labyrinth appears to be an intellectual challenge, every turn is ... Show more content on

Similarly to Yu Tsun on his fatal journey, we are constantly confronted with choices, but we are dimly
aware of the presence of most of these choices, and even less aware of the full consequences. Once
Albert turned his back, Yu Tsun ?readied the revolver?(579) and ?fired with extreme caution? (579).
Yu Tsun did not consider any ethical consequences of his actions; he just killed a man who spent his
entire life unraveling the history of Yu Tsun s ancestor. Even worse is the chance that the best
intentions can still lead to disaster. Yu Tsun remembers that the key to ?certain labyrinths? is ?to turn
always to the left? (575). Unfortunately, the labyrinth of life lacks such simple rules to guide us. In
fact, keeping a path which is too constant may result in walking in circles. Therefore, whether the
labyrinth is a maze of our own construction or a trap we have found ourselves in, there is no easy way
to escape any predicament.
Yu Tsun chose to ?impose a future as irrevocable as the past? (575) when trying to choose his path, but
it is the past that defines is, and provides us knowledge of how things could occur in the future. Not
only is Yu Tsun ignoring his past, but by ?[imposing] a future as irrevocable as the past? (575), he is
completely bypassing any ethical decisions he has to make. By forcing himself to believe that he must

Specific Aims
The specific objective of this study is to establish the relationship between attention and child
television programs by improving on existing research. The study aims to focus on the impact of
different types of television on the cognitive attention of children.
Children s education and development are important topics, and parents always want to educate their
children in the best possible way. Nowadays, children spend a lot of time watching television;
however, most parents are not so confused about how to select television shows for their children.

Usually, there are two kinds of children television shows, live action shows and cartoons. There has
emerged research, which argued that viewing television cartoons could have immediate negative
effects on young children s cognitive function including self regulation and working memory (Lillard
and Peterson, 2011). Therefore, watching cartoons is not a good idea to entertain children. There is
increased concern that increased exposure to television has a negative impact on the cognitive
development of a child. It has been linked to late language development and the development of
attention disorders (Landhuis, Poulton, Welch Hancox, 2007). A majority of studies conducted on the
impact of television have not compared different types of content.
According to the CDC, the number of children getting ADHD is rising rapidly (CDC, 2015).
Correspondingly, research has indicated that there is an increasing number of children watching
cartoons such as SpongeBob , Bob s burgers and The Simpsons. Most of the parents are extremely
worried about the impact of the content that their children watch on television because of warning
from research findings. They are also worried about the children live action shows such as Kid Nation,

The Importance Of Being A Good Waitress
I have been waitressing almost two years, during this long period of time, I learned the importance of
being a good waitress. By being a successful waitress I am not only getting excellent tips, but I am
also making my customers remember my service. I enjoy the time I spend talking with my customers
and taking care of them. I meet a lot of interesting people since I have started working at the
restaurant. In order to become a successful waitress, a waitress has to take good care of her customers
and be aware of what is happening in her surroundings. First of all, when I notice that I have
customers sitting in my section, I finish my other chores quickly and walk to my table. Once I am
there, I give them a friendly greeting and ask How are you guys doing today? so we can have some
small talk. This action shows most of my customers that I care and have interest in them. Of course,
everything has exceptions. Some customers do not like it if their server speaks too much, because they
want to enjoy the peaceful and quiet environment. Therefore, I will take their drink orders and
carefully remember any of their special requests. For example, drink without ice, drink with extra ice,
sweet tea without lemon, etc. I promptly go to the kitchen to make their drink orders and bring them
out as soon as possible. After I deliver their drinks, I ask them if they would like to start with some
appetizers. If they do order appetizers, I let the chief know as quickly as possible.

Into The Wild Chris Mccandless Relationship Analysis
Relationships between people can change lives forever. For instance, a parent and child s relationship
are one of the most important ones because that is where our consciousness about love, trust and
assurance comes from. Depending on the relationship, it can either benefit or suffer a child. Since little
children always look up to their parents and learn from them. So the actions done by their parents can
affect the child s life later in the years. This scenario can be reflected in the book Into the Wild, the
character Chris McCandless. Chris McCandless parent s outside appearance was wanting Chris to go
to school and be successful. Meanwhile, in the inside appearance, especially the dad, was an abusive
father. This reflected a double life.

unequivocal affection, and acknowledgment for kids and youth with exceptional medicinal services
and formative needs. For this to happen, these youngsters must have a solid crew. Childkind offers a

Victor Frankenstein, and his tales from early childhood to his time studying philosophy and science.
This spark for the sciences and for life causes his desire to create life itself, and after months of
studying, creates the creature. It s horrid appearance causes him to despise the creature. It eventually
departs from Victor s home, and lives alone as it continues to be mistreated by mankind and learns to
hate and despise them. He takes his anger and unleashes it on those close to his creator, killing his
beloved brother. It was after this that the creature asks Victor to create a companion in which he
ultimately denies which causes the creature to kill more of the people that he loves in rage and hatred.
These two whom despise one another have many differences between them, but also share some
qualities as well.
The story is mainly focused on Victor Frankenstein, a man greatly influenced by the sciences, which
later led him to create the creature. Throughout the novel, it is constantly shown of the love that
surrounds Victor. He has people who care for him, and worry about his health. Mary Shelley writes,
You will find a happy, cheerful home and friends who love you dearly (144). This portion of the novel
that was a letter written by Elizabeth shows the loving people

Teenage Driver Observation Paper
On March 30, 2018, a call was dispatched about a possible drunk driver traveling eastbound on
Highway 90, passing Highway 57. The reporting party described the vehicle as an older model Dodge
truck faded red in color.
I was sitting in my vehicle at the police department when I observed a Dodge Ram matching the
description drive past me. They were traveling at a speed of 30 MPH in a 45 MPH speed zone. When I
got behind the vehicle I noticed they were traveling while touching the left center line, they also had a
bunch of miscellaneous items hanging from their rear view mirror obstructing their view. I initiated
my blue lights and siren to conduct a traffic stop. We pulled into the Mcdonald s parking lot off of
Highway 90. Sgt. Fowler then pulled up and assisted me on my traffic stop.
The vehicle consisted of three passengers. The driver was identified as Ricky Smith, the back
passenger was identified as Tony Teauge, and the front passenger was Smith s mother.
After asking Smith for a valid driver s license and proof of insurance, he stated he does not have a
valid license and that it is suspended. Smith stated his mother was at the casino in Biloxi and was too
drunk to drive. Smith went and picked her up knowing he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Emily Dickinson s Poem
In Emily Dickinson s poem #340, or also known as I felt a funeral in my brain, there is a theme of
change that can be derived from the imagery presented by the poet. The poem is voiced from the
perspective of the deceased who describes their funeral as heard through the casket. The choice to
utilize a funeral as a backdrop to this poem is intriguing given that there could be many other ways to
depict a personal change. Even though other poetic styles like Romanticism and transcendentalism
exists in this era, Dickinson chooses to this ominous subject medium. Dickinson s choice of setting for
this poem could be indicative of her surroundings, namely the death riddled Civil War era. Whether
this poem represents a positive change or a negative change, is left up to the interpretation of the
reader. One certainty is that Dickinson takes the reader into a story of transformation. Upon further
examination, I would like to explore why I perceive this poem to be a metamorphosis for a positive
change that emerges from a cocoon of the macabre.
In the beginning, Dickinson immediately takes the reader into the funeral as heard by a dead soul from
inside their own casket. In some ways, this could represent the death of old ways which give way to
the new. The mourners are figments of sorrow that are saying goodbye to the old shell that once
housed previous thinking processes. Furthermore in the poem 340, the author mentions that Sense
breaking through (Dickinson 1667), this could

Hearing Aid Process
The hearing aid fitting process of PEI begins by running a full audiometric test battery on the patient.
They begin with tympanometry, and then follow up with pure tones, speech and bone testing. If need
be, they continue with any special testing that may be deemed necessary following the results of the
audiometric testing. If a patient seems like a good hearing aid candidate you can perform QuickSin,
which is used to determine how the patient would understand speech in noisy situations. LDLs may
also be done to obtain the patient s loudness discomfort level, which ensures that their hearing add is
not fit to be louder than what is comfortable for the patient. After the test results are obtained and
explained to the patient, their expectations of a hearing aid are determined. This can be achieved via
the APHAB, COSI and ECHO, which are commonly used at PEI. These tests are also used to
determine what type of listening environments the patients are in, their motivation for wearing hearing
aids and the areas in which they are having problems hearing. After this is done the audiologist
determines what type of hearing aid would be best the patient, using the previously listed
questionnaires and test results as well as the patient s dexterity, vision and cosmetic needs. After the

20th Century DNA Research
DNA has been titled the most important scientific discovery of the 20th century. DNA is cells which

structure of DNA allowed other scientists to work on the individual elements of the DNA helix. The
biggest research is the human genome project. Numerous number of people consider that the two
scientists James Watson and Francis revealed DNA in the 1950s. However, Swiss chemist Friedrich

The data in DNA is primarily read and then it is copied into a messenger molecule. DNA embraces the
code for proteins, which are complex molecules that do huge amounts of work around our body. After,
the information held in this molecule is translated into a language which the body can understand.
Amino acids build blocks of proteins. It is this precise language that commands how the amino acids
should produce a particular protein. Moreover, DNA plays an important role in replication. It is vital
for the reproduction to the maintenance and growth of cells, tissues, and body systems. A DNA
molecule result in a series of bases without pairs along the backbone of the molecule. DNA has four
bases all part of a nucleotide. The four bases in DNA are about the base that they will attach to. This
means that adenine only pairs with thymine and guanine will only pair with cytosine. Since
nucleotides attach with unpaired bases on the backbone of the DNA molecule. it builds a new strand
that complements. The result at last is a strand which is a perfect match to the original. When cells
replicate in the body it produces new skin and blood cells. If mistakes occur, there are systems to

The Importance Of Sureno s Stability In The UK
The UK should primarily focus on stability of Sureno when formulating policy. Retaining security in
the region is crucial since Britain is reliant on international trade and half of it flows through Sureno.
However, that does not only refer to ending the violence within the state. Rather, it is also advisable to
preserve the secular control of the Sureno government. One Way, and a majority of the other religious
groups, are unfriendly toward foreign involvement in the country. Under their rule, it is completely
possible for Sureno to withdraw its current levels of affairs in international politics and the economy,
which would be devastating toward British interests. Secondary to maintaining stability is ensuring the
safety of the British people. This goal comes after the first since some of the arguably most effective

to ignore interests that are either non negotiable (e.g. putting British forces on Sureno soil; complete
withdrawal from the region) or relatively unimportant to those countries in question, and really only
consider those that are either crucial to the foreign leaders or potentially counterproductive to Britain s
own list of essential goals. However, the British should be wary of other governments in the

Global Supply Chain Management Simulation Essay
Summary of Global Supply Chain Management Simulation I enjoyed the Global Supply Chain
Management Simulation (GSCM). It was exciting to be a Manager of the supply chain of a mobile
phone manufacturer. I learned very quickly the pressures of running such a large operation. In this
review, I will discuss lessons learned regarding conceptions shown in the simulation. I will explain
how if completing the simulation again, what I would complete differently. In conclusion, I will talk
about my key overall takeaways from this exercise.
Year One
In Year 1 while in the Design room, I chose the Wifi and Stylish options. My intuitive thoughts were
consumer based and not supplier driven. However, these combined options offered an estimated
favorable profit for the company. While forecasting I chose to forecast below average for Model A and
above average for Model B. Again, my decision making was consumer driven and I as a consumer
would prefer a stylish mobile device over a base model, therefore estimated demand at a higher level.
In choosing suppliers in Year 1, key drivers were lead times, setup and unit carrying costs, and
capacity. The decision were also based off of my forecast for each model. I learned quickly as each
month passed, I was out of inventory therefore, making a costly $2.0MM adjustment with one of my
suppliers. In this scenario, if running the simulation again I would better match the supplier with the
forecasted demand.
Year Two In Year 2, I was advised not to

Forecasting Power Of Statistical Data Analytics Essay
I. PROJECT OVERVIEW
Throughout the semester, we have learned different aspects of Big Data analytics and their
practicalities. Forecasting and prediction are another important parts of data analytics. Advanced
forecasting analytics is playing a vital role in the age of Big Data, such as predicting crime activities,
weather changes, electric power generations, or personalizing marketing campaigns.
The purpose of this report is to demonstrate the forecasting power of statistical data analytics. We will
use a time series dataset to conduct the forecasting, since this type of datasets contain a set of
observations generated sequentially in time. Organizations of all types and sizes utilize time series
datasets for analysis and forecasting for predicting next year s sales figures, raw material demand,
monthly airline bookings, etc. A time series model is useful to obtain an understanding of the
underlying forces and structure that produced the data.
The rest of this paper is organized as follow: section II presents the analysis of the data with
regression analysis and Tableau based visualization. Section III presents the conclusions and
implications of the data.
II. DATAANALYSIS

Benefits Of Tryouts
For hundreds of years sports have been used as a way for kids and adults to cope with stress but now
with all these talented players it s no longer fair for the talented players to play with the terrible
players so in order to keep the talented players happy they created tryouts. Tryouts are a kind of
physical test that are used to determine what players are talented and deserve a spot on the team and
what players aren t very good and shouldn t be playing with good players. Tryouts are beneficial for
both players and schools because it allows poor schools to play and it reduces the number of players
and therefore helps develop gifted players. Tryouts cut down money by letting those who are good
stay making it better for games that are very costly such as football. This is why many believe that
sports are beneficial because they don t put poorer schools in debt, also it doesn t make schools have
to pay to get the materials needed, and finally they make it fair for the good players by giving them
more playing time.
My first reason why I believe tryouts are beneficial is because they don t put poor schools in debt for
expensive games because they wouldn t be able to pay for things such as equipment and

Education From Rabelais Perspective
Education from Rabelais Perspective
The Renaissance altered centuries of thought in Europe. One figured who contributed to
revolutionizing though was the author Francois Rabelais who wrote comedic critiques of his world. In
his stories of Gargantua and Pantagruel the author critiques many aspects of sixteenth century life
especially the education system. He examines previous educational attitudes, as well as those during
his time. As a humanist thinker, Rabelais values education and reform. The author was extremely
familiar with the university system in France during the Renaissance because he himself studied in
these places. Francois Rabelais emphasizes that education has progressed since the Middle Ages, but
he also affirms problems still persist during the Renaissance period.
Rabelais critiques medieval education to demonstrate the flawed system prior to the Renaissance.
Rabelais finds issue with traditional scholastic debates pro et contra due to their loose connection to
seeking truth (M.A. Screech 30). He communicates his personal distress through Pantagruel s rants
about prior scholars glossing worthwhile texts (Rabelais 33). Glossing, or commentary by scholars,
was a popular scholastic pursuit before the Renaissance. Rabelais found it to detract from the texts
overall value. The author also uses Gargantua, Pantagruel s father, who lived during the prior period to
emphasize the many additional specific failures of medieval education. He writes Pantagruel a

Good evening. I would like to begin by welcoming each and every one of you to this joyous and
stressful occasion.
You know, while I was watching my son and future daughter in law suffer through the painful process
of planning their wedding, I asked myself, What would it be like if men were responsible for
organizing weddings?
I m guessing that my son might rename the Rehearsal Dinner to the Rehearsal Dinner Kegger . The
invitations would not read Gracious dinning from 7 to 10 but rather, Raucous Drinking from 7 until

Bridesmaids would wear matching blue jean cut offs and halter tops with more skin showing than not.

Wedding vows would mention cooking and sex specifically, but omit that forsaking all others part.
The couple would leave the ceremony in a souped up 73 Charger or some other Mopar with racing
tires and flame designs on the side of the car. Better yet, a Harley!
Idiots who tried to dance with the bride (unless they were really old) would get punched in the head.
There would be Tailgate Receptions .
Outdoor weddings would be held during sporting events at half time or between innings.
Ceremonies would be short and honeymoons would be long.
Ceremonies and honeymoons would be inexpensive compared to the cost of the bachelor party. The
cost of strippers and liquor really do add up.
I m certain my son wouldn t ask, Well, what do you think, dear? The burgundy or the wine colored
napkins? They d just grab extras from the local pub, tavern or donut store.
Favors would be matchbooks and cigars. Better yet, free drink passes at the local bar (pub).
Instead of a sit down dinner or a buffet, there would be a hog roast or buckets of chicken, pizza and
plenty of b b q.
No one would bother with that Veil Routine . But they would insist that the garter be as high up on her
leg as it could go.
The bridal bouquet would be recycled from a previous funeral/wedding (what s the difference).
On a more serious note, I find great pleasure in formerly welcoming Maria into the family. I say
formally , because

example, the NHS is responsible for 25% of all public sector greenhouse gas emission in the UK.
Aims and objectives of the NHS
To provide very high quality health care is the main objective and they will always be trying to
improve this.
Political, legal and social factors
The political factors are a strange one for the NHS as the government owns the NHS. They are the
ones who make the big decisions like how much money is going to be put into the NHS. legal factor

The Slavery Of African Americans
Some people I met asked me that we Africans sold other Africans into slavery and why? I will tell
them well I was not born when it happened, I only learn about slavery in school not even my parents
told me so I cannot provide you with genuine reason behind slavery but I do understand this that it
may have some economic benefits attached to it and that is a fact, the world back then was like
survival of the fittest, slavery was rampant all over the world and not only black Africans were
enslaved, many ethnicities and nationalities some Europeans like Irish and Jewish have been enslaved
too. I could have avoided questions like this, but since many of this questions are directed to me from
African Americans, I do my best to be honest with them about the little knowledge that I know. You
must not hold grudge against me because my ancestors sold your people into slavery, and I must also
not avoid your questions even if i feel guilty about the role of my people during slavery. I was not
responsible for it and neither of my parents. You must not be imprisoned with victim mentality of the
whole slavery thing I told him and he was like wow I like that. I told him that is why it is nice to talk
about things because I do not know your mindset I cannot read it but I can wrongly judge it based on
my personal observations. He said this country is racist and I must be careful because I am a black
man. I said really, he said yes!! I said why he repeated because America is racist. I told

Running head: DANGEROUS TOYS FOR OUR CHILDREN
Dangerous Toys for Our Children

Dangerous Toys for Our Children As a mother, there is no greater concern than the safety of our
children. Yet with the recent reports of lead in toys for kids, mothers and fathers alike now have a new
worry. One of the world s largest entrusted and respected toy companies has been criticized for
producing toys with hazardous levels of lead paint. Some of the toys produced by Mattel also contain
small magnets that pose as a choking hazard to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The magnets can stick to one another through human tissue, leading to punctures. According to the
CPSC s website, the children suffered intestinal tears that required surgery. The company has ordered
that all products be pulled off retail shelves, said Nancy Nord, acting chairwoman of the Consumer
Product Safety Commission. The 1.5 million toys recalled by Fisher Price s preschool division
included Elmo, Big Bird, and Dora, all made in China. The recall was prompted by concerns about
lead paint and risks associated with small, high powered magnets (CNN, 2007). According to the
executive vice president for Mattel International, the dangerous levels of lead paint came from the
subcontractor of a vendor that did not use certified paint. The subcontractor has been associated with
this company for 20 years. Eckert said Mattel has changed the way it attaches magnets to its toys to
make them safer. These recent statements mark the latest in a series of recalls of defective products
made in China, which is the second largest trading partner of the United States after Canada.
Incidentally, China produces 80 percent of the world s toys. To prevent these problems from recurring,
Nord said the Chinese manufacturers are coming to Washington, D.C. this fall for product safety
training sessions (CNN, 2007). In conclusion, we must make sure that our government lives up to its

How Mental Imagery Works Help Athletes
HOW MENTAL IMAGERY WORKS TO FACILITATE PERFORMANCE:There are many theories
and body of literature that tried to explain how imagery works but the most popular amongst them are
psychoneuromuscular, symbolic and informational theories.
Psychoneuromuscular Theory (Muscle Memory): This theory states that as athletes engage in sport
movement, their brains are constantly transmitting impulse to the muscles for execution of the
movement. Similar impulses occur in the brain and muscles when athletes imagine the movements
without actually performing them. Thus, the psychoneuromuscular theory asserts that vivid imagined
events produce innervations in our muscles similar to that produced by the actual physical execution
of the event. Coaches and athletes should know that mental imagery strengthens their muscle
memories by having the muscle respond in the correct sequence without actually executing the
movement, (William 2009).
Symbolic Learning Theory (Mental Blueprint) Sackett (1934): In this theory, imagery may function as
a coding system to help athletes acquire or understand movement patterns. All movements that we
make must first be encoded in our central narrow system, we must have a blue print or code their
movement into symbolic components, thus making the movement more familiar and perhaps more
automatic. For example, a gymnast can use imagery to cue himself, on the temporal and spatial
elements involved in performing a balance beam routine (Smith 2009) (William 2009).

The Christmas Holiday From The Federal Calendar
Omitting the Christmas Holiday from the Federal Calendar
The establishment of a legal holiday is best defined as a day where there are no courts, labor, and is a
day of joy and rest. While there should be a separation of church and state, Christmas is considered a
legal holiday and one needs to question the validity of establishing this day as a legal holiday when
one looks at the concept of separation of church and state and considering the diversity we face in
today s modern society.
Christmas in in fact defined as a Holyday. This should not be considered a legal holiday due to the fact
that it is Christian based and we do not have legal holidays that recognize other religions. The United
States does not have a recognized national religion, so Christmas should be separated from legally
recognized holidays.
In the American Law Register the opening paragraph gives an interesting point of view on this matter.
Notwithstanding the distinction drawn by the great American Lexicographer, between a holiday and a
holy day, where by the latter should be used as the proper term for a religious festival, while the
former should rather denote a day of exemption for labor and of amusement, joy and gaiety, the
common impression seems to liken both the holiday and the holyday to the great weekly day of rest
and legal inaction? (Uhle 137)
With cultural diversity being what it is today, and the many different religious traditions that comes of
this, establishing a holyday as a legal

David Peter Reimer Research Paper
David Peter Reimer was a Canadian boy born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on August 22, 1965. David s
parents noticed he had an unusual way of urinating. He was diagnosed with Phimosis at approximately
six months of age. David was taken to the hospital at eight months for the standard procedure of
circumcision. During the procedure, the physician accidentally burned David s penis far beyond
surgical repair. The cause was due to an electrocautery needle that was used instead of the usual
scalpel. After the unfortunate procedure, a psychologist named John Money, who oversaw the case,
suggested David have a sex change performed to fix the problem of the burnt off penis. David s
parents were distressed and were uncertain whether or not to go along with the sex change. They
eventually decided to agree with the procedure after constant persuasion from John Money and other
medical staff. David ended up having the sex change while John Money selfishly oversaw the case
and used David Reimer as a private study. His belief was that ... Show more content on

After the sex change, Dr. Money forced Brenda and her brother to rehearse sexual acts stating that the
sexual play was crucial for healthy adult gender identity (Top 10).
. Dr. Money occasionally made the siblings remove their clothes and perform genital inspections . He
concluded that the experiment was a success, but failed to report that Brenda behaved more like a
stereotypical boy and was constantly confused about many things. Brenda s parents continued to raise
him as a girl and did not tell him about the procedure or anything that happened when he was an
infant. This had traumatic results on Brenda and his family. Brenda s brother was diagnosed with
depression. Her mother was also diagnosed with depression and was often suicidal. Over time, Brenda
s father increased his drinking and turned became an

Griffith s Short Story
Griffith lay on his bed , looking at the picture his best friend just posted on Instagram, tagging some of
his other friends that he had been hanging out with today. Griffith was immediately filled with
paranoia, anger and irrational fear after looking at it. His mind rants about how much of an ass Haven
is and how he hopes he dies, how he wished that his friends would die, how he doesn t matter to
Haven, how he s going to be replaced. Griffith growls as he struggles with the completely irrational
thoughts going through his head. This happens ever time Haven hung out with anyone besides him or
started dating someone. He hated it, how his stomach dropped and his chest filled with this weird
almost painful feeling, how he immediately started

Heredity and Sex Essay
Heredity and Sex
When analyzing the major accomplishments of the 20th century it is imperative to include the
achievements in biology, which have revolutionized our understanding of life s process and of disease.
Already in the second half of the 19th century implications to future progress in the biological world
were being made. Darwin had outlined the evolution in animal species, Mendel had discovered some
basic rules for inheritance, and Weissman and other embryologists were beginning to decipher how an
organism develops. (Britannica, 1) However there was one key element missing, how all these
advances were correlated? The important information that unified these three fields (heredity,
evolution, and development) came at the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Internalist studies gained importance in the 1890 s to 1900 due to the success of German physiology
and experimental embryologists. And the years of 1905 1915 brought a stress of heredity, where
research was focused on chromosomes. (Masienschein, 458) Not one specific approach provided a full
account of sex determination, however with the convergence of different approaches a new approach
was manifested, which reshaped tradition of developmental study. (Maienschein, 458)
Thomas Hunt Morgan advocated the internalist developmental search for a theory of sex
determination and production. In 1903 he concluded that both male and females elements exist in all
kind of eggs and they are not predetermined as being either male or female. However his evidence
remained inconclusive as to whether the nucleus or cytoplasm provided the determining influence on
sex. (Maienschein, 467) Morgan acknowledge that there were two types of sex theories, the
morphological (preexistence of sex in germ cells) and physiological (individual physiological process
of development). Even in 1910 after receiving the Nobel Prize for research in sex limited inheritance,
Morgan remained declined to regard the chromosomes as responsible for determining development.
He thought they played a role, but could not see them as determinants. (467) Eventually, the internalist
set aside explicit concern about physiological

  • 2. Why Do Myths Exist Myths like the loch ness monster and Bigfoot were big stories but no real proven evidence of their existence. Many investigations were made and a lot of so called evidence to prove that such myth exist. But there is one thing that most myths don t have and that s government officials getting involved. If a myth is that serious in order to involve the government, it s got to be a pretty big myth. Similarly aliens were really never proven to exist until the summer of 1947 on a small ranch outside of Roswell, New Mexico (History pg.1).a Man by the name of Mac Brazel witnessed a supposed alien crash in his own backyard. This simple phone call to a sheriff s office turned into a secret government cover up in a matter of minutes (History pg.1). And with these myths comes all the conspiracies and ideas as to a real explanation of said myth. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The town s folk thought it was a crashed UFO, before it were to hit the media General Ramey explained as to what had happened. As a press conference was held with Major Marcel and the Brigadier General Roger, they explained that it was not a crashed UFO it was in fact a crashed weather balloon and that there is nothing to worry about (Happened pg. 2). After that the story had died for a couple of years. Along with this crazy report of a crash landing UFO comes along hundreds of witnesses, claiming that they have indeed seen the crashed UFO at Roswell (Happened pg. 3).When Mac first encountered the crash, the material was so bizarre and unusual that he thought it come from out of space. • 3. Marketing Plan For A New Product Whenever introducing a new product to a current market, an organization will need to prepare for challenges they may face. For this reason, Kohler will need to be smart with our promotional and advertising objectives when introducing Hygieia to the commercial and residential markets. Our objectives will focus on building awareness, creating interest, providing information, stimulating demand, and reinforcing the brand. Working with our big box retailers, we will need to work closely with channel members and our sales force to help with the execution of our promotional objectives to be effective (CITE1). Kohler being a well known faucet manufacture and distributor helps us to connect with current and new customers. Our first objective building awareness, is a vital part to determine if the product will be expanded to more stores outside of our test market. The first two months will be crucial, especially when we need to present to The Home Depot and Lowes during our product line review, to show the current sales performance. In this objective we will need to effectively reach out to our customers though push promotional strategies to explain to our target customers the Hygieia value. Our second objective will need to focus on providing information that can assist with customers in the search stage when deciding to purchase a faucet for their home or business. With the Hygieia being such a unique product to the market place it will have no competitors with the same dual soap ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

So when Griffith compares the story to the nature of human beings, there is no doubt an impression on Victor s curiosity and sanity: Since Victor s story is a story of creation, murder, investigation, and pursuit, Frankenstein is ultimately a book about our pursuit of self discovery, about the knowledge of the monster within us (Griffith 2). Griffith further supports the idea of Victor being the problem and his ignorance becoming increasingly detrimental to his family s health. Victor s actions inevitabely brings death and pain to his family although the monster is responsible. Victor is the real monster for creating the monster and negleting his very own creation. Also, after creating the being, he neglects its needs and wants and runs away from his responsibility as the creator. This quote from Mary Shelley s novel, Frankenstein, shows that Victor, being too binded in his ambitions, did not think through the process of creating a human and rushed it creating a bitter and crushed soul: Yet you, my creator, detest and spurn me, thy creature (Shelley 83). William A. • 5. Difference Between Altruism And Altruism INTRODUCTION Our generation today focuses much more on personal gain, prioritizing themselves for pleasure and self enjoyment. We are in a generation where good name is no more preferred or precious than gold, rather, money is a good name and more precious than a good one, where love for one self, vanity, and giving importance on earthly things counts as a way of having success by pursuing what is best for us and for our loved ones. The Me Generation only shows that people give so much gratitude and admiration to themselves, and that their concentration is self centered and egoistic. This kind of attitude leads people to care less about the social, political, economic and environmental aspects of our lives. Today s generation focuses on acquiring worldly things by having so much money, power, and fame, whereas the idea of having concern with other people in the society is starting to disappear. The I syndrome is placing ourselves before others; a situation whereby people seek their own interests and needs to satisfy themselves, families, relatives and those close to them first before others. Regardless of the fact that there are people that are into the I syndrome, there still exists an act of being concerned about other people s happiness called Altruism . • 6. The Last Rung Of The Latter Short Story In The Last Rung of the Latter by Stephen King, Larry, the narrator receives a letter from his younger sister, Kitty, that she wrote before she committed suicide. Larry retells a story from their childhood in which he saved Kitty s life after she climbed a broken latter while they were playing a game. In this short story Larry is forced to come to terms with his sister s death and deal with the guilt of not being able to save her this time. The change of setting, the theme of guilt, and the use of symbolism all greatly add to the meaning of this short story. The contrast in setting in The Last Rung Of The Latter is used to show a change in feeling and mood as the characters grow older. Larry describes the morning of the accident fondly, remembering how good the barn felt that day. When he begins talking about the day in the barn, Larry says, On a day like that, the only really nice place to be was the barn. It was warm, filled with a pleasant mixed aroma of hay and fur and dung, and with the mysterious clucking, cooing sounds of the barn swallows high up in the third loft. (King 2). This quote indicates that Larry thought of the barn as a homey and warm place. He does not dislike the setting of his childhood home, despite the fact that is sister almost died on his terms while they were there. On the contrary, when Larry speaks about where he lives in the present he seems to resent the constant moving and changing of his life. Larry even says that, People move around ... Typically the individual experiences misplaced feelings and attempts to place blame. The third stage of grief is bargaining in which the individual is able to recognize that the circumstances cannot be undone, but are still unable to accept what has occurred. The fourth stage of grief is depression where the individual begins to comprehend the permanence of death and often disconnects in an attempt to avoid retraumatization. Lastly, the fifth stage of grief is acceptance. It is during this stage that the individual comes to terms with their loss and resumes stability (Kubler Ross, 1969). While grief and bereavement are often a very personal, individualized experience it is important to note the influence, both negative and positive that the family system holds. Familial composition, circumstances and environment are all factors that possess the potential to influence the course of bereavement. Attachment and Systems Theory Attachment is commonly defined as an emotional bond that connects two people (Ma, 2006; McLeod, 2009). ADD. • 8. Differences Between Greek Theatre And Theatre Opera and theater share many similarities especially since the former is influenced by the latter. In his text, A Short History of Opera, Donald Grout defines opera as a drama in music: a dramatic action, exhibited on stage with scenery by actors in costume, the words conveyed entirely or for the most part by singing, and the whole sustained and amplified by orchestral music (4). Opera literally translates to work. The first known opera that was performed was in 1597. However, interestingly enough, the word opera was not used until 1634 (Grout 1). The origins of seventeenth century opera can be traced back to Greek drama and medieval theatre. Throughout the seventeenth century, many different kinds of operas can be found from countries such as Italy, Germany, and England. In order to fully understand opera and its inner workings, it is important to locate and learn the origin of opera. Greek drama is said to be the model on which the creators of modern opera at the end of the sixteenth century based their work on (Grout 11). There are substantial differences between Greek drama and opera. For example, in Greek theater, the cast was made up of only men and young boys (Grout 13). Also, it is important to note that these plays were not sung entirely. Rather, many parts were spoken out loud like the singing was left to the chorus (Grout 12). The chorus s main function was to express opinions or give advice. They also conveyed emotions for the audience to react to (Grout 12). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is about the memory of the first time they went out for dinner together, which is a happy memory for both of them. It is also a humorous confession because it is about something so simple and innocent. He finishes this confession in an adoring way, Shoba asks, Why did you forget to tip the waiter? A community, whether it is rich or poor, holds the ability to create/shape its own perception of literacy and therefor place a value on the importance of it. This compromise is hopefully long lasting and satisfying to both sides and brings with it a rest. The Compromise of 1850 sounds like exactly that, but there is more to this compromise. This compromise came when there was much dispute about the future of the western lands recently acquired from the Mexican government California, Utah, and New Mexico. The Southerners of America wanted the states entered into the union as slave states, while the Northerners wanted them entered as free states. When this issue became more heated and continued to escalate, The Great Compromiser, Mr. Henry Clay himself, came out of retirement to do his thing and create a compromise. He proposed that California would enter the union as a Slave State and Utah and New Mexico would enter as neutral, being neither a slave nor free state. Parts of both the North and the South hated and liked this plan. Some misanthropists in the South threatened to secede from the union and while the majority knew that to be rubbish at the time, it did eventually come true with the start of the Civil War. The North wanted to see slavery come to an end and were fighting tooth and nail to see that through. After months of debating and changes made to Clay s compromise it was eventually put into action. By being a successful waitress I am not only getting excellent tips, but I am also making my customers remember my service. I enjoy the time I spend talking with my customers and taking care of them. I meet a lot of interesting people since I have started working at the restaurant. In order to become a successful waitress, a waitress has to take good care of her customers and be aware of what is happening in her surroundings. First of all, when I notice that I have customers sitting in my section, I finish my other chores quickly and walk to my table. Once I am there, I give them a friendly greeting and ask How are you guys doing today? so we can have some small talk. This action shows most of my customers that I care and have interest in them. Therefore, I will take their drink orders and carefully remember any of their special requests. For example, drink without ice, drink with extra ice, sweet tea without lemon, etc. I promptly go to the kitchen to make their drink orders and bring them out as soon as possible. The poem is voiced from the perspective of the deceased who describes their funeral as heard through the casket. The choice to utilize a funeral as a backdrop to this poem is intriguing given that there could be many other ways to depict a personal change. Even though other poetic styles like Romanticism and transcendentalism exists in this era, Dickinson chooses to this ominous subject medium. Dickinson s choice of setting for this poem could be indicative of her surroundings, namely the death riddled Civil War era. Whether this poem represents a positive change or a negative change, is left up to the interpretation of the reader. One certainty is that Dickinson takes the reader into a story of transformation. Upon further examination, I would like to explore why I perceive this poem to be a metamorphosis for a positive change that emerges from a cocoon of the macabre. In the beginning, Dickinson immediately takes the reader into the funeral as heard by a dead soul from inside their own casket. In some ways, this could represent the death of old ways which give way to the new. The mourners are figments of sorrow that are saying goodbye to the old shell that once housed previous thinking processes. One figured who contributed to revolutionizing though was the author Francois Rabelais who wrote comedic critiques of his world. In his stories of Gargantua and Pantagruel the author critiques many aspects of sixteenth century life especially the education system. He examines previous educational attitudes, as well as those during his time. As a humanist thinker, Rabelais values education and reform. The author was extremely familiar with the university system in France during the Renaissance because he himself studied in these places. Francois Rabelais emphasizes that education has progressed since the Middle Ages, but he also affirms problems still persist during the Renaissance period. Rabelais critiques medieval education to demonstrate the flawed system prior to the Renaissance. Rabelais finds issue with traditional scholastic debates pro et contra due to their loose connection to seeking truth (M.A. Screech 30). He communicates his personal distress through Pantagruel s rants about prior scholars glossing worthwhile texts (Rabelais 33). Glossing, or commentary by scholars, was a popular scholastic pursuit before the Renaissance. Rabelais found it to detract from the texts overall value. • 43. The Slavery Of African Americans Some people I met asked me that we Africans sold other Africans into slavery and why? I will tell them well I was not born when it happened, I only learn about slavery in school not even my parents told me so I cannot provide you with genuine reason behind slavery but I do understand this that it may have some economic benefits attached to it and that is a fact, the world back then was like survival of the fittest, slavery was rampant all over the world and not only black Africans were enslaved, many ethnicities and nationalities some Europeans like Irish and Jewish have been enslaved too. I could have avoided questions like this, but since many of this questions are directed to me from African Americans, I do my best to be honest with them about the little knowledge that I know. You must not hold grudge against me because my ancestors sold your people into slavery, and I must also not avoid your questions even if i feel guilty about the role of my people during slavery. I was not responsible for it and neither of my parents. You must not be imprisoned with victim mentality of the whole slavery thing I told him and he was like wow I like that. I told him that is why it is nice to talk about things because I do not know your mindset I cannot read it but I can wrongly judge it based on my personal observations. He said this country is racist and I must be careful because I am a black man. I said really, he said yes!! I said why he repeated because America is racist. I told ... Dangerous Toys for Our Children Running head: DANGEROUS TOYS FOR OUR CHILDREN Dangerous Toys for Our Children Jane Doe College University Professor MGT 555 April 2, 2008 Submitted to the faculty of College University in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Bachelor of Science in Management. Dangerous Toys for Our Children As a mother, there is no greater concern than the safety of our children. Yet with the recent reports of lead in toys for kids, mothers and fathers alike now have a new worry. One of the world s largest entrusted and respected toy companies has been criticized for producing toys with hazardous levels of lead paint. Some of the toys produced by Mattel also contain small magnets that pose as a choking hazard to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The magnets can stick to one another through human tissue, leading to punctures. According to the CPSC s website, the children suffered intestinal tears that required surgery. The company has ordered that all products be pulled off retail shelves, said Nancy Nord, acting chairwoman of the Consumer Product Safety Commission. The 1.5 million toys recalled by Fisher Price s preschool division included Elmo, Big Bird, and Dora, all made in China. The recall was prompted by concerns about lead paint and risks associated with small, high powered magnets (CNN, 2007). According to the executive vice president for Mattel International, the dangerous levels of lead paint came from the subcontractor of a vendor that did not use certified paint. The subcontractor has been associated with this company for 20 years. Eckert said Mattel has changed the way it attaches magnets to its toys to make them safer. These recent statements mark the latest in a series of recalls of defective products made in China, which is the second largest trading partner of the United States after Canada. Incidentally, China produces 80 percent of the world s toys. To prevent these problems from recurring, Nord said the Chinese manufacturers are coming to Washington, D.C. this fall for product safety training sessions (CNN, 2007). In conclusion, we must make sure that our government lives up to its ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. How Mental Imagery Works Help Athletes HOW MENTAL IMAGERY WORKS TO FACILITATE PERFORMANCE:There are many theories and body of literature that tried to explain how imagery works but the most popular amongst them are psychoneuromuscular, symbolic and informational theories. Psychoneuromuscular Theory (Muscle Memory): This theory states that as athletes engage in sport movement, their brains are constantly transmitting impulse to the muscles for execution of the movement. Similar impulses occur in the brain and muscles when athletes imagine the movements without actually performing them. Thus, the psychoneuromuscular theory asserts that vivid imagined events produce innervations in our muscles similar to that produced by the actual physical execution of the event. Coaches and athletes should know that mental imagery strengthens their muscle memories by having the muscle respond in the correct sequence without actually executing the movement, (William 2009). Symbolic Learning Theory (Mental Blueprint) Sackett (1934): In this theory, imagery may function as a coding system to help athletes acquire or understand movement patterns. All movements that we make must first be encoded in our central narrow system, we must have a blue print or code their movement into symbolic components, thus making the movement more familiar and perhaps more automatic. For example, a gymnast can use imagery to cue himself, on the temporal and spatial elements involved in performing a balance beam routine (Smith 2009) (William 2009). ... • 46. The Christmas Holiday From The Federal Calendar Omitting the Christmas Holiday from the Federal Calendar The establishment of a legal holiday is best defined as a day where there are no courts, labor, and is a day of joy and rest. While there should be a separation of church and state, Christmas is considered a legal holiday and one needs to question the validity of establishing this day as a legal holiday when one looks at the concept of separation of church and state and considering the diversity we face in today s modern society. Christmas in in fact defined as a Holyday. This should not be considered a legal holiday due to the fact that it is Christian based and we do not have legal holidays that recognize other religions. The United States does not have a recognized national religion, so Christmas should be separated from legally recognized holidays. In the American Law Register the opening paragraph gives an interesting point of view on this matter. Notwithstanding the distinction drawn by the great American Lexicographer, between a holiday and a holy day, where by the latter should be used as the proper term for a religious festival, while the former should rather denote a day of exemption for labor and of amusement, joy and gaiety, the common impression seems to liken both the holiday and the holyday to the great weekly day of rest and legal inaction? (Uhle 137) With cultural diversity being what it is today, and the many different religious traditions that comes of this, establishing a holyday as a legal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. David Peter Reimer Research Paper David Peter Reimer was a Canadian boy born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on August 22, 1965. David s parents noticed he had an unusual way of urinating. He was diagnosed with Phimosis at approximately six months of age. David was taken to the hospital at eight months for the standard procedure of circumcision. During the procedure, the physician accidentally burned David s penis far beyond surgical repair. The cause was due to an electrocautery needle that was used instead of the usual scalpel. After the unfortunate procedure, a psychologist named John Money, who oversaw the case, suggested David have a sex change performed to fix the problem of the burnt off penis. David s parents were distressed and were uncertain whether or not to go along with the sex change. They eventually decided to agree with the procedure after constant persuasion from John Money and other medical staff. David ended up having the sex change while John Money selfishly oversaw the case and used David Reimer as a private study. His belief was that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 50. Heredity and Sex Essay Heredity and Sex When analyzing the major accomplishments of the 20th century it is imperative to include the achievements in biology, which have revolutionized our understanding of life s process and of disease. Already in the second half of the 19th century implications to future progress in the biological world were being made. Darwin had outlined the evolution in animal species, Mendel had discovered some basic rules for inheritance, and Weissman and other embryologists were beginning to decipher how an organism develops. (Britannica, 1) However there was one key element missing, how all these advances were correlated? The important information that unified these three fields (heredity, evolution, and development) came at the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Internalist studies gained importance in the 1890 s to 1900 due to the success of German physiology and experimental embryologists. And the years of 1905 1915 brought a stress of heredity, where research was focused on chromosomes. (Masienschein, 458) Not one specific approach provided a full account of sex determination, however with the convergence of different approaches a new approach was manifested, which reshaped tradition of developmental study. (Maienschein, 458) Thomas Hunt Morgan advocated the internalist developmental search for a theory of sex determination and production. In 1903 he concluded that both male and females elements exist in all kind of eggs and they are not predetermined as being either male or female. However his evidence remained inconclusive as to whether the nucleus or cytoplasm provided the determining influence on sex. (Maienschein, 467) Morgan acknowledge that there were two types of sex theories, the morphological (preexistence of sex in germ cells) and physiological (individual physiological process of development). Even in 1910 after receiving the Nobel Prize for research in sex limited inheritance, Morgan remained declined to regard the chromosomes as responsible for determining development. He thought they played a role, but could not see them as determinants. (467) Eventually, the internalist set aside explicit concern about physiological ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
