Is Teacher Tenure Worth Keeping
According to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development ranking, the United States of America is
considered mediocre in its educational performance. In a competitive world where average is just not adequate for the well
being of a nation, experts have theorized that to improve the country s education our schools need to revaluate different
factors of the education system. Some have even speculated these factors are the teacher s tenure. In fact, some claim
tenure is the reason why the United States education system quality is on its downward slope. In order for one to
determine if the country s education is suffering from tenure, one need to have a full understanding of its function and how
teachers use tenure. One would also need to know the benefits of this contract by understanding how tenure relates to
discrimination, academic freedom, freedom of expression, freedom of association, and freedom of religion. However, one
would also need to have knowledge of the cons of teacher s tenure by analyzing how the dance of the lemon s policy and
the reassignment centers do not allow teachers to improve and how much tenure can cost the school districts. In order to
distinguish if the United States should allow a teacher to become subjects to tenure, one need to recognize the purpose and
how that purpose is applied to teachers with tenure. The intention of tenure is to provide job security for teachers (Public
Impact, 2011, p.3). For a teacher to earn the

Hamptonshire Express
Problem #1
Anna Sheen, upon graduating from a Boston area university with a degree in journalism and operations research, returned
to her hometown of Hamptonshire, Pennsylvania, to start a daily newspaper. The Hamptonshire Express emphasized local
news which Sheen believed was not adequately covered by big city newspapers such as the The Philadelphia Inquirer,
Pittsburgh PostGazette, and The New York Times.
Sheen daily wrote stories and articles around news and feature material that she gathered from around town, and typeset
the newspaper using desktop software and a PC leased from a large
Pittsburgh area retailer. She estimated her lease cost ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

# hours invested in creating the profile section on a given day
The function in Figure 1 can be expressed as a simple equation: D  500   h  500  50 h , where D is daily demand
for The Hamptonshire Express, and h the number of hours Sheen has invested in creating the profile section.
As before, Sheen forecast demand for the following day s newspapers every evening based on the quality of the profile
section, and used her demand forecast to determine her stocking quantity.
a.
How many hours should Sheen invest daily in the creation of the profile section? Assume the opportunity cost of her time
(based on other employment opportunities in Hamptonshire) to be $10 per hour. Try different values for h in the
spreadsheet Hamptonshire Express:
Problem #2. (To make your life easier, optimal stocking quantity, Q, is computed by the spreadsheet based on the
newsvendor formula for your choice of h .)
b.
What explains Sheen s choice of effort level h ? Do not spend more than 10 minutes thinking about this question. (Hint:
Sheen would choose h to equate marginal cost of effort with marginal benefit. The marginal cost of her effort is $10 per
hour; that is, the opportunity cost of her time, the marginal benefit of her effort is

The Effects Of Climate Change On Natural Disasters
The Effect of Climate Change on Natural Disasters What is climate change? According to Dictionary.com climate change
is: a long term change in the earth s climate, especially a change due to an increase in the average atmospheric temperature
. The increase of the Earth s surface temperature is largely due to the effect of greenhouse gases, such as carbon dioxide
emissions from burning fossil fuels or from deforesta tion. These emissions are what traps heat onto the Earth s surface,
which, in turn, dramatically increase the climate. Climate change has many consequences including various natural
disasters such as earthquakes, hurricanes, volcanic eruptions, and storms. Recently, a link has been drawn between the
increase in global warming and recent hurri cane activity in the Atlantic Ocean. Hurricanes have always been a major
concern for those living on the coast, but research has shown that global warming is only making them worse. Due to
climate change and the arctic ice melt, sea levels are rising, which then heightens the frequency and severity of the storms.
According to the Union of Concerned Scientists, in a tropical cy clone, air rotates inward to the center (the eye), then rises
to higher altitudes. As warm, moist air rises, the air cools and condenses to rain, releasing heat. This cycle of evaporation
and condensa tion powers the storm . Recent scientific research suggests a connection between the destructive power of
hurricanes and global warming. There are

Pheochromocytoma Research Paper
Pheochromocytoma is a rare, usually benign tumor, that arises from certain cells known as chromaffin cells. Chromaffin
cells produce hormones that are necessary for the body to function properly. In most cases, pheochromocytomas originate
in the central portion of the adrenal gland, otherwise referred to as the adrenal medulla. The adrenal medulla is responsible
for the normal production of adrenaline. Our body requires adrenaline in order to maintain blood pressure. In patients with
pheochromocytoma, the adrenal gland releases hormones that can potentially cause persistent or episodic high blood
pressure. Unfortunately, this can lead to severe or life threatening damage to other body systems, especially the
cardiovascular system if left untreated. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For the most part, pheochromocytomas occur randomly, typically for unknown reasons. These symptomatic spells may
occur due to physical exertion, anxiety or stress, changes in position, foods high in tyramine and certain medications. Due
to the fact that the signs and symptoms of pheochromocytoma can be caused by a variety of different things, it is important
to get a prompt diagnosis. Eventhough hypertension is one of the most common signs and symptoms of a
pheochromocytoma, a majority of individuals who have high blood pressure don t necessarily have a tumor. Hypertension
can damage multiple organs, specifically tissues of the cardiovascular

Who Is J. D. Salinger s A Perfect Day For Bananafish
All things truly wicked start from innocence by Ernest Hemingway. This quote is important because it relates to Seymour
Glass, the main character in the short story. Glass was an ordinary man before returning from war as a completely different
man, a man that was no longer innocent, but in some ways, extremely tainted. J. D. Salinger s short story, A Perfect Day
for
Bananafish , showcases different writing style techniques that help to better improve the effectiveness of his writing. The
techniques he utilizes include: inferences throughout the story, repetition, dialogue, style, imagery, and even symbolism

His use of symbolism is also important to his style. One example of symbolism is when Seymour tells Sybil is wearing a
blue swimsuit when both of them were on a beach that they frequently met and talked to each other at. The color blue, in
Western literature symbolises deity and spiralituity (Hochman). Another example of symbolism being used develop his
style is when Seymour kisses Sybil s foot, this occured right before Seymour left Sybil for the last time before returning
back to his room and committing suicide. This act from Seymour is seen and perceived as Seymours gratefulness for Sybil
s perception (Hochman).
J. D. Salinger furthers his style by using a variety of elements like repetition, symbolism, or characterization. Salinger s
way of writing forces the reader to read between the lines. They can either be surprised by the ending or could have seen
the outcome from the beginning, because of his writing style. However, the reader must reread the story and try to
understand it.
All in all, his style changes how each reader interprets the story with his aforementioned elements of inferences of the

Lord Chesterfield Character Analysis
In Lord Chesterfield s letter to his son, he attempts to shape him into a respectable man worthy of inheriting the family
wealth in ways that can still be recognized in parenting today. In modern times, parents put a high value on grades and
schooling; Chesterfield chides his son to take more care in his accumulation of knowledge. Respect is also key, parents
still demand the same respect from their children as Chesterfield expects from his son. Another thing that parents will
often say is to learn from their mistakes which is something Chesterfield places high value on. The things Chesterfield
tries to pass on in this letter to his son say a lot about his personal values, namely, the value he places on respect,
education, and decision making. Throughout his letter, Lord Chesterfield makes small, passive aggressive remarks that
hint underhandedly at the repercussions should his son choose not to respect what he is saying. He threatens that his young
son can not have a shilling in the world but from [him] (27 28). Here, Chesterfield warns that he will not be allowed even
a little bit of the family s fortune unless he gives it to him. Basically, Chesterfield is exposing the complete dependency his
son has on him due to their aristocratic status. This also alludes to respect because if his son does not respect him, he will
quiet literally have nothing. Additionally, Chesterfield is convinced [his son] will act right (32) not because he threatened
him with what

We know of many stars that exist, but the main stars are White dwarfs, Pulsars, Neutron stars, Magnetars, Brown dwarfs,
Black Holes, Cepheid Variable stars, Supergiants, Red Giants, Novas, and Quasars. Starting with White Dwarf, this star is
usually the size of a planet and is last stage of a stars life, when it loses all its layers from the planetary nebula. This star is
very dense and especially hot after it disables its nuclear fuel. It starts to cool done over the next billions of years. Pulsars,

This star is formed after a large star has had a supernova explosion. These stars are usually very dense and will eventually
produce a black hole. Magnetar is a neutron star with an extremely strong magnetic field. Magnetar stars are highly
magnetic objects, they are even stronger than Earth. It is also 100 to 1,000 times stronger than radio pulsar. Because we are
unsure how this star can be as strong as it is, theorist say it would have to rotate between 100 to 1,000 times per second.
Brown Dwarfs is the in between size of a giant planet and a large star. This star is also a very dense star, but not as dense
as the white dwarf. When a star is dying it squeezes all its matter into a tiny space, this is called a Black Hole. Their

Persuasive Essay On Bottled Water
Today water bottles are marketed all over the world, and about 1,000 bottles are consumed every second. In fact, it has
been reported that 200 billion water bottles are sold globally collecting 60 billion dollars. Additionally, bottled water was
created for being portable, because of ordinary tap water quality, safety and health concerns, and as a substitute for sugary
drinks. In contrast, bottled water shouldn t be around anymore because they have become a health and environmental
issue. Water bottles have been proven to be hazardous to human health due to the large number of chemicals found in
them. Most of the bottles are not biodegradable, which damages the environment. Despite them being portable, alternative
to tap water, and a substitute for sugary drinks bottled water shouldn t be used anymore because they are hazardous to the
environment, human and animal life.
It is ironic that water bottles were brought up for safer and purer water, but retains an exceedingly number of chemicals. In
the U.S, there are an abundance of organizations that deem what are harmless for humans to consume. The Federal Food
and Drug Administration (FDA) regulate bottled water, however tap water is overseen by the Environmental Protection
Agency (EPA), which has higher standards than the FDA meaning some bottles aren t even approved to rinse your hands
with. More importantly, bottled waters contain contaminates, chemical contaminates, pesticides, disinfectants, and
radioactive materials. Equally important, bottled water has contaminants of Coliform (rod shaped bacteria), Arsenic
(poison), Chloride (a compound of chlorine), Iron, Manganese (resembles iron and is used in fertilizer), phenols
(Poisonous acidic compounds), Zinc, and Fluoride (deliberately added to some bottled water). Not to mention the most
popular chemical BPA, the chemical applied to form the plastic solid and transparent. Some water bottles contain about 15
milligrams of chemical contaminants from 10 different chemicals. The FDA did not band pesticides from the bottled
water, but they arrayed the levels and limits for each of 29 different pesticides. As well as disinfection byproducts, a
chemical compound formed by the reaction of a water disinfectant with a

The Creation Of Discourses Throughout Media
The creation of discourses throughout media is presumably why most Americans feel the way they do about certain
migrants and their cultures. Discourses are the illusions created by actions within media to create a certain bias. They are
seen throughout all global media, not just immigration. However, immigration is a hot topic in our society today.
Transnationalists, migrants, and refugees are all terms relative to the subject. Media today has changed these terms and
coined phrases such as illegal aliens and other explicit terms defining people. Our country was built on migrants coming
here for a better life, yet today, new migrants are considered illegal and taking Americans jobs. Chavez s excerpt explains
discourses several decades ago. Today, we face relative discourses throughout media, especially with our current
republican candidates for the next election. Mentioned in Chavez s, Covering Immigration the Statue of Liberty plays a
significant role in American views toward immigration. From the 1970 s to 90 s, the Statue of Liberty is seen on thirteen
separate magazine covers. According to polls, 57% picked the statue as their favorite national icon. In the fall of 2015,
Time released a magazine covering of the Statue showing a dirty hand, relaying the message, Who gets to be an American
again? This image reflects discourses of a broken society, in which we have to become an American again.
The underlying message here is that our national symbol of freedom

The Story Of An Hour By Kate Chopin Essay
Chopin s Artistry in The Story of an Hour
To be in the struggle with conventional society s convictions is troublesome for some to do; in any case, writer Kate
Chopin battles that fight to bring readers the absolute most interesting writing that a man can get their hands on. Utilizing
further bolstering her good fortune traditions of stories, for example, character improvement, plot control, and incongruity,
she can bring the readers into a universe of feelings that society would laugh at. Kate Chopin exhibits her mind boggling
artistic ability in The Story of an Hour by interconnecting the plot and character advancement, with her utilization of
interesting vocabulary and account incongruity.
Kate Chopin s artistic ability would have never been so unequivocally established in the event that it was not for the
conditions encompassing her life and childhood. Her dad kicked the bucket when she was just four years of age, which left
her mom and grandma to raise and shape her cravings and belief systems (Charters 156). Having been raised principally
by solid willed ladylike good examples, Chopin built up a preference for a greater amount of a whimsical part for ladies in
the public eye. In the place where she grew up in St. Louis, she got to be known as the town s Most diminutive Rebel
(Davis). She was widowed and left with six youngsters to raise all alone (Charters 156). This circumstance grew a greater

Social Media And Social Networking Essay
If asked, would you be able to explain what the definition of social media is? Social media is the noun used to define
websites that enable users to create and share content or to participate in social networking. Now you may wonder, what is
the difference in social media and social networking? Social networking is the practice of expanding the number of one s
business and/or social contacts by making connections through individuals, often through social media sites such as
Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and Instagram. (cite) | Statistics show that most children get introduced to cyberbullying when
they fully understand how to use the internet. The majority of children have admitted to harassing or being bullied on a
social media website from the age nine to eighteen. The gender of the child also makes a difference according to some
poles taken. Girls are more likely to spread rumors through the virtual world, whereas; boys are more expected to
comment and post antagonizing pictures and videos. (good and interesting information to have but the transition from
different social media sites to the bullying paragraph is rapid and just thrown in there) Crazy to think but the birth of social
media was in 1997. The first social media site that everyone can agree actually was social media was a website called Six
Degrees. It was named after the six degrees of separation theory and lasted from 1997 to 2001. Six degrees allowed users

The Way Of Life Has Forever Changed
The way of life has forever changed. Living like our parents did is not an option for the technology thirsty current
economy. We have become so dependent on technology and its advances that without it, we simply would not be able to
function. If every computer and computer system suddenly crashed or stopped working it would be pure chaos, every
nuclear facility would become uncontrollable, and there would be numerous toxic meltdowns, airplanes would fall from
the sky, trains and cars and other forms of transportation would be unusable, communications would stop, electricity
would go out, people would die (Dilard, 2014). These systems are so vital to the way we function as a society that to think
of life without them is comical. Networks and systems are so vital to business and society that special positions and roles
are needed to ensure they are maintained and operate. Network administrator and system administrators are more
important and demanding roles than an average user would think. Users can go weeks, possibly even months without
having to phone their administrators for help, but this is not due to no issues, this is due to administrators actively doing
their job. Networks are only as good as their admins perform, the overall structure and integrity of a network lies in the
hands of network and system administrators. Without these unsung heroes patching and protecting our digital frontier, our
networks would be susceptible to any number of cyber attacks

Platform 9 ¾, an integral location within the Harry Potter series by JK Rowling, provides the focus for the final third of

and finally I discuss the platform as a disregarded location within the Harry Potter series. Located within the concourse of

The most widespread use of multi tier architecture is the three tier architecture.
N tier application architecture provides a model by which developers can create flexible and reusable applications. By
segregating an application into tiers, developers acquire the option of modifying or adding a specific layer, instead of
reworking the entire application. A Three tier architecture is typically composed of a presentation tier, a domain logic tier,
and a data storage tier.
While the concepts of layer and tier are often used interchangeably, one fairly common point of view is that there is indeed
a difference. This view holds that a layer is a logical structuring mechanism for the elements that make up the software

Joshua Specific Instruction
Specific Instruction: Walking to you Purpose through OBEDIENCE!
Scripture: Joshua 6: 1 27
This particular scripture in the Bible illustrates what happens when you follow God s instruction. God has given Joshua
specific instruction to ensure his army s victory over Jericho. They were instructed to march around the city, blow horns
and do what I m sure they though; really weird things. I could only imagine Joshua telling his troupes Hey we need to go
walk around this City a few times and then go back to our camps I would imagine they were tired, with little food and
energy. I would also assume they probably were a bit reluctant and did not see the need to walk around the city, blow
horns etc. I sure they thought why aren t we preparing to fight? How is this helping us? This does not make any sense?
Although the instruction from God was a bit strange and uncomprehensive, still they obeyed and put their faith in the
Lord, that he will fulfill his promise. Because they did what was told to him, they defeated a city that outnumbered the
army of Israelites with more military resources. Everything that God said would come to pass, DID! Their obedience got

Peristalsis And Involuntary Muscle Contractions
The Alimentary Canal is a system which contains different sections and organs that work together to digest substances.
Food substances pass through the alimentary canal which starts at the mouth and eventually ends up at the anus. Ingestion
is the consumption of a substance through the mouth e.g. eating or drinking. The mouth increases surface area for
chemical digestion as Salivary glands produce Saliva which contains amylase to breakdown starch. Saliva also contains
mineral salts to keep PH constant and Mucin to make food slimy and easier to pass down the oesophagus. Peristalsis is the
movement of food by coordinated involuntary muscle contractions. Peristalsis is used in the oesophagus, stomach, and
intestines to transport food.

The second book of Evelyn Waugh s book Brideshead Revisited is, significantly, entitled A Twitch Upon the Thread. The
meaning of this title reflects on many characters in this book, but particularly on Charles Ryder, the narrator and main
character. In Book I of this novel the characters generally become more and more distanced from their faith. Book II is
entitled A Twitch Upon the Thread because this is when Charles and other characters start to find their faith again and get
pulled back into Catholicism, like an unseen hook and an invisible line which is long enough to let him wander to the ends
of the world and still to bring him back (Waugh 220). For most of the novel it is clear that Charles is agnostic. Not until
the second book and ending do we see Charles slowly start his conversion from agnosticism to Catholicism. We do know,
however, that Charles was taken to church weekly as a child (85), so this recent discovery of Catholicism is really a return
to God. As the character Cordelia says in an argument with Charles while discussing her father and sibling s loss of
religion, God won t let them go for long (220). In other words, the twitch upon the thread is inevitable. Charles slowly
starts his conversion when he sees Lord Marchmain (also an agnostic) while dying accepts his last sacrament. Then in the
Epilogue, Charles makes it apparent that he is in fact a Catholic when he discusses the candle that stays lit, which refers to

Blondie Research Paper
Blondie[edit] Main article: Blondie (band) With her distinctive photogenic features and two tone bleached blonde hair,
Harry quickly became a punk icon.[22] Her look was further popularized by the band s early presence in the music video
revolution of the era. She was a regular at Studio 54. In June 1979, Blondie was featured on the cover of Rolling Stone.
Harry s persona, combining cool sexuality with streetwise style, became so closely associated with the group s name that
many came to believe Blondie was the singer s name. The difference between the individual Harry and the band Blondie
was famously highlighted with a Blondie is a group button campaign by the band in 1979.[23] In 1981, Harry issued a
press release to clarify that her name was not Debbie Blondie or Debbie Harry , but Deborah Harry, though Harry later
described her character in the band as being named Blondie , as in this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
You know, when I woke up this morning I had a realization about myself. I was always Blondie. People always called me
Blondie, ever since I was a little kid. What I realized is that at some point I became Dirty Harry. I couldn t be Blondie
anymore, so I became Dirty Harry.[24] Blondie released their first album in 1976, though it was not a success. Their
second album, Plastic Letters, garnered some success outside the United States, but their third album, Parallel Lines (1978)
was a worldwide smash and shot the group to international success. It included the global hit single Heart of Glass . Riding
the crest of disco s domination, the infectious track hit No.1 in the US and sold nearly two million copies. It also reached
No.1 in the UK and was the second highest selling single of 1979. The band s success continued with the release of the
platinum selling Eat to the Beat album (UK No.1, US No.17) in 1979 and Autoamerican (UK No.3, US No.7) in 1980.
Blondie had further No.1 hits with Call Me , The Tide Is High , Atomic (UK #1) and Rapture (US

The Cardiac Cycle
To keep the blood moving around the body supplying vital nutrients to cells and removing waste, a cycle of contractions
(systole) and relaxations (diastole) take place, this cycle is known as the cardiac cycle. There are three stages to the cardiac
cycle, all stages happen during one heartbeat (cycle) and take less than a second in total (Revisionworld.com, 2017), these
different stages are pictured in figure 11.
During stage one the pressure in both ventricles decreases as they relax, the atrioventricular valves open slightly and blood
is pumped through them due to a contraction of the atria. Blood is prevented from flowing backwards as the valves of the
vena cava and pulmonary vein close. During stage two pressure in the ventricles increases

The Parthenon Marbles
Located on the Acropolis in Athens, Greece, the Parthenon is the most famous and most important piece of architecture in
Greece. Standing in ruins as a former temple dedicated to the Greek Goddess of wisdom, Athena, the Parthenon has held
the most important sculptures made by the Greeks. During the 1800s, when Greece was under the control of the Ottomans,
sculptures from the Parthenon were sent to Britain by Lord Elgin for safe protection. The Parthenon Marbles have since
then never been returned to the Greeks. The sculptures, currently housed in the British Museum in London, should be
returned to their homeland because they are part of Greece s culture, they have a safe home ready for them in the
Acropolis Museum, they are not being cared for as they should, it would most likely boost the economy, and the English
did not have the right to take them in the first place.

Recently in the British Museum a careless waiter, who was working for one of the external catering companies employed
by the museum, got too close to the statue and bumped into it, knocking off the work s right thumb (Cascone 2016). The
statue that was damaged was an Ancient Roman statue, called The Townley Venus, and has been in the British Museum
collection for more than 200 years. If people who are employed by the museum are treating statues like this one so
carelessly, the Parthenon Marbles should not be housed in the museum for protection. The argument that people of the
British Museum say is that it was their right to have the sculptures be housed in the museum and they saved them from
further damage. Lord Elgin most likely saved the sculptures from further damage in Greece, but they are not any more safe
being held in the British Museum where there are many accidents hurting works of valuable

Island Archetype Essay
stories during World War II. This gave an impression that all superheros were patriotic, perfect people and never had a
problem. Moving ahead in time to 1985, this started the Modern Age of comics and during that time the comic book genre
took a dramatic turn. We had just come from the Silver Age, which was wacky and crazy now to the Modern Age that
changes back to its roots of psychotic Joker and dark origin stories. This is shown in Batman Begins, when Bruce is about
to kill the man who murdered his parents his friend Rachel Dawes found him with a gun about to execute his plan Rachel
says It s not who we are but what we do that defines us (Nolan,Batman Begins). This quote sums up a trend in modern

The question of based on multiple texts/ entertainment ( movies, TV) how has the meaning or requirements for the island
archetype change throughout time has been answered throughout this paper. Let s break this down one more time. From
the nature of the island archetype we can see that C.G Jung created this for insight on a character which probably is a
reason why many of today s origin stories model after this archetype. The Odyssey and the TV show Arrow were clearly
made in seperate times, and although they have differences, the two stories share similarities, so just look at how the
characters develop. Yes they develop at different times, but the way is basicly the same. The two Batman stories really
show a difference, we see a major emotional change from a confident playboy millionaire to a angery almost murderer.
Finally, we sum this up and see that the island archetype origin story is basically essential to a character s development.
C.G Jung painted the way for literature for growth and new ideas, but he didn t realize that his idea, the island archetype
was the revolutionary idea that used the entire paint can of the

The redwood trees around me were around 40 feet tall and probably higher, even though I felt like I was half way there I
still could not see the peak of the enormous giants, three thirds of the way I stumbled upon a problem for weak branches
were in the way of me reaching the top, as the heights were beginning to hit me I had decided to come down from the tree
as the branches blocked me from continuing. Running out of breath and the slash, that almost showed a piece of bone, in
my leg still bleeding it just prevented me to keep going. The only objects I had in my backpack were the two ibuprofen
and the extra rags left from my shirt. I sat underneath the redwood tree as a tear ran down my left cheek and touching my
lip the salty taste and little by little I began to remember the good moments I had in life.
On September 18 of 1987 John Martin was born, being received in mother arms, the love instantly sparked. The only love
absent there was father s, before John Martin was born father ran found another women and only three months until John
was born he fled and swore no responsability of him. Yes, John Martin is me, my father left us before I was born. The
years that came after that were the most heaviest for mother, she had to work double shifts, all of that and still being
caught under the control of alcohol.

Starbucks Case Study
Starbucks case study 1 I think the most important management skills for Schultz to have are the conceptual skills. Since
Schultz is the chairman of Starbucks, which means he is the top manager of the company, the conceptual skills are the
most important for him to have. Mostly because conceptual skills help him see the organization as a whole. It helps the
manager understand the relationship among the various subunits, and visualize how the organization fits into its broader
environment. In fact the conceptual skills are defined as the ability to think and to conceptualize about abstract and
complex situations. But as we can see in the case Schultz proved he had good conceptual skills when he decided to open

Starbucks managers and especially top managers face another issue, they have to be a learning organization. This means
an organization that has developed the capacity to continuously learn, adapt and change. But I think based on the text that
Howard Schultz has proven his possession to this quality as an individual, but he has to transform it from an individual
asset to a company s goal and way of doing things. 4 The interpersonal roles that Howard Schultz might perform are the
ones that involve people, like being the figurehead of his organization which means he represents it in all matters of
formality legally and socially to those outside of the organization like attending ceremonies, doing interviews..., being the
leader this role defines the relationships between the manager and employees (encourage his employees to improve
productivity, solve conflicts...), and liaison role (coordinating activities of two projects, interacting with people outside the
organization...). He might also perform the informational roles that are primarily concerned with the information aspects of
managerial work that involves collecting, receiving, and disseminating information. In the monitor role, Schultz

Emmett Till Summary Sparknotes
They then beat the teenager brutally, dragged him to the bank of the Tallahatchie River, shot him in the head, tied him with
barbed wire to a large metal fan and shoved his mutilated body into the water...and three days later his corpse was pulled
out of the river ( Emmett Till ). In the article Emmett Till the story of 14 year old, Emmett Till s unexpected murder is told.
Emmett was a young boy from Chicago, who in August 1955 hopped onto a train with his uncle and cousin to visit their
family in Money, Mississippi. On his third day in Mississippi, Till visited a local grocery store with a group of teenagers.
Inside the store he bought bubblegum and was accused of either whistling at, flirting with, or touching the hand of the
store s clerk, Carolyn Bryant. The store s clerk was a white woman who was married to the owner of the store, four days
later her husband, Roy Bryant and his brother J.W. Milam kidnapped and murdered Emmett Till. A few days later, Till s
mutilated body was recovered from the Tallahatchie River and could only be recognized by his late father s ring that was
on his finger. The case was taken to court and the two men were not charged with any crimes. Till s body was shipped to
his mother in Chicago where she opted to have an open casket, and the story of what had happened brought outrage to the
country.
In response to the whole situation, Till s mother decided to have an open casket funeral, she wanted to show the world
what had been done to her

Wasteland Motherhood
Motherhood is an extremely complicated process that every mother goes through when taking on the choice to acquire a
child. Based on the individual, this process can be one that is natural or extremely difficult to execute. Within this process,
there are new issues and mindsets that emerge in the threshold of motherhood that creates intense struggles. In the texts
Waste Land (Walker, 2010) by Lucy Walker and Morning Song by Sylvia Plath the poet and director display these issues
and mindsets within these two different mediums that arise in the never ending process. These texts connect to one another
by demonstrating and including struggles of urges to provide, emotions of detachment, and improving mindsets through
the process of motherhood. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Within the article, Plaths Morning Song David Ketterer makes the statement about how Morning Song expresses Plath s
conflicted feelings at the birth of her first child... (242 243). These feelings are implied adamantly throughout the poem
and start off as feelings of detachment. The speaker of Morning Song exclaims We stand around blankly as walls when
describing her mental composure to the audience. At this point the reader understands that the concept of motherhood is
wildly new to the speaker and she has no idea what to do or how to connect herself to the child. The speaker also depicts
the child as a new statue (line 4). This comparison is one that shows the audience that the mother sees the child as
something mystifying and not human. Consequently, if she cannot view the child as an opposite of these characteristics,
then she will fail to recognize her duties as a mother. And if she fails to recognize this, she will also fail to create a stable
connection and positive feeling towards her new born child. However, these feelings of detachment later cease to exist
towards the final two stanzas of the poem, unlike the intense feelings displayed in Waste

Operation Eagle Claw
On 24 April 1980 s United States Special Operation forces , along with Joint Task Force 1 79 , led an operation to save 52
American hostages trapped inside Tehran,Iran known as Operation Eagle Claw. .The Operation was broken up into two
phases. The first phase was to take place in Iran at a site called Desert One. Desert One was an Airstrip for USAF special
operations to use to land aircraft such as the MC130, AC130H, and the RH53D. The MC130 was a fixed wing aircraft
meant to transport ground forces, the C130H was a gunship for security, and the RH53D was a mine sweeper and
transported ground forces. The RH53D was flown by United States Marine Corps aviators from the carrier USS Nimitz.
The plan was that these aircraft would fly under radar to Desert One, the men would offload at the site, The Helicopters
would refuel and be concealed at Desert Two. The next night the American Forces would then extract the hostages, get to a
soccer stadium where they would be picked up by RH53D mine sweeping helicopters. The assaulting force would hit the
compound with the security provided by the AC130H. After extracting the hostages helicopters would bring the force from
the stadium to Manzariyeh Air Base outside Tehran ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

established to provide joint leadership. JSOC is there to train all special operation forces to work together but falls under

Walgreens, CVS or Rite Aid: Which Tenant Is Best in 2011?
By David V. Tran
There are 3 major drugstore chains in the US: Walgreens, CVS, and Rite Aid. Below are some key statistics about the 3
major drugstore chains as of July 2010: 1. Walgreens ranks #1 with market cap of $29.33 Billion, $66.25 Billion in
revenue, and S P rating of A+. According to Walgreens, 75% US population lives within 3 miles from its stores. On Oct 1,

This is a great present to the drugstore industry. There are new drugs to treat previously untreatable illnesses, and new
diseases, e.g. Viagra for men s unhappiness, Zoloft for depression, Avastin for colon cancer, Herceptin for breast cancer,
Nicotine patches for smokers to kick the habit, Tamiflu for a potential bird flu pandemic, vaccine for swine (H1N1) flu
pandemic, Tekturna/Rasilez for hypertension and various new drugs for AIDS and Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD). The
new medicines are very expensive, e.g. a year s supply of Avastin costs about $55,000. Eli Lilly has sold about $4.8 billion
of Zyprexa in 2007 for schizophrenia and yet most people have never heard of this medicine. There are existing drugs now
approved to treat new illnesses and thus increase their sales revenue. For example, Lyrica was originally intended to treat
pain caused by nerve damage in people with diabetes. It is now approved by FDA to treat Fibromyalgia which affects 5.8
million Americans per WebMD. Big advances in genetics, biology and stem cells research are expected to produce a new
class of drugs to treat diabetes, Parkinson s and various rare genetic disorders. For example the new drug Ilaris from
Novartis targets genetic causes of an inherited disorder that there are only 7000 known cases worldwide. However,
Novartis hopes to gradually broaden its drugs to a blockbuster drug to more common disorders caused by similar genetics.

Art Flourishes In Art
1. Under what conditions does art flourish in a civilization? Or decline? Art flourishes in a civilization when people
communicate complicated ideas and emotions used to create pieces. Art changes with society. In Egyptian times, they built
pyramids that were like monuments and had their own artistic style that was represented by hieroglyphics and human
figures made of stone. This was the Egyptians mark in time. In our modern day society, we have buildings, paintings, and
statues that all represent the present. Things like politics or natural disasters happening to us currently can help art flourish
with expression towards these things. We have political cartoons being created to show the outrage within the political
world. There are pieces that make history and remind us of something devastating like a hurricane or earthquake that
destroyed cities and took lives. I think art flourishes in both devastating and uplifting times. 2. Is it important to know why
artists created works? Learning why artists created works is important because it can communicate different ideas and
emotions that we ourselves may not have understood before learning about a piece of art. Usually we first interpret art
ourselves until studying up on what the piece means to the creator. No one really knows the exact thoughts and ideas an
artist was thinking while creating a piece of artwork, so learning about different pieces gives people a better understanding
of what the art really means and why it

  • 3. Is Teacher Tenure Worth Keeping According to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development ranking, the United States of America is considered mediocre in its educational performance. In a competitive world where average is just not adequate for the well being of a nation, experts have theorized that to improve the country s education our schools need to revaluate different factors of the education system. Some have even speculated these factors are the teacher s tenure. In fact, some claim tenure is the reason why the United States education system quality is on its downward slope. In order for one to determine if the country s education is suffering from tenure, one need to have a full understanding of its function and how teachers use tenure. One would also need to know the benefits of this contract by understanding how tenure relates to discrimination, academic freedom, freedom of expression, freedom of association, and freedom of religion. However, one would also need to have knowledge of the cons of teacher s tenure by analyzing how the dance of the lemon s policy and the reassignment centers do not allow teachers to improve and how much tenure can cost the school districts. In order to distinguish if the United States should allow a teacher to become subjects to tenure, one need to recognize the purpose and how that purpose is applied to teachers with tenure. The intention of tenure is to provide job security for teachers (Public Impact, 2011, p.3). For a teacher to earn the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Hamptonshire Express emphasized local news which Sheen believed was not adequately covered by big city newspapers such as the The Philadelphia Inquirer, Pittsburgh PostGazette, and The New York Times. • 5. The Effects Of Climate Change On Natural Disasters The Effect of Climate Change on Natural Disasters What is climate change? According to Dictionary.com climate change is: a long term change in the earth s climate, especially a change due to an increase in the average atmospheric temperature . The increase of the Earth s surface temperature is largely due to the effect of greenhouse gases, such as carbon dioxide emissions from burning fossil fuels or from deforesta tion. These emissions are what traps heat onto the Earth s surface, which, in turn, dramatically increase the climate. Climate change has many consequences including various natural disasters such as earthquakes, hurricanes, volcanic eruptions, and storms. Recently, a link has been drawn between the increase in global warming and recent hurri cane activity in the Atlantic Ocean. Hurricanes have always been a major concern for those living on the coast, but research has shown that global warming is only making them worse. Due to climate change and the arctic ice melt, sea levels are rising, which then heightens the frequency and severity of the storms. According to the Union of Concerned Scientists, in a tropical cy clone, air rotates inward to the center (the eye), then rises to higher altitudes. As warm, moist air rises, the air cools and condenses to rain, releasing heat. This cycle of evaporation and condensa tion powers the storm . Recent scientific research suggests a connection between the destructive power of hurricanes and global warming. There are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Pheochromocytoma Research Paper Pheochromocytoma is a rare, usually benign tumor, that arises from certain cells known as chromaffin cells. Chromaffin cells produce hormones that are necessary for the body to function properly. In most cases, pheochromocytomas originate in the central portion of the adrenal gland, otherwise referred to as the adrenal medulla. The adrenal medulla is responsible for the normal production of adrenaline. Our body requires adrenaline in order to maintain blood pressure. In patients with pheochromocytoma, the adrenal gland releases hormones that can potentially cause persistent or episodic high blood pressure. This quote is important because it relates to Seymour Glass, the main character in the short story. Glass was an ordinary man before returning from war as a completely different man, a man that was no longer innocent, but in some ways, extremely tainted. J. D. Salinger s short story, A Perfect Day for Bananafish , showcases different writing style techniques that help to better improve the effectiveness of his writing. Another example of symbolism being used develop his style is when Seymour kisses Sybil s foot, this occured right before Seymour left Sybil for the last time before returning back to his room and committing suicide. This act from Seymour is seen and perceived as Seymours gratefulness for Sybil s perception (Hochman). J. D. • 10. Lord Chesterfield Character Analysis In Lord Chesterfield s letter to his son, he attempts to shape him into a respectable man worthy of inheriting the family wealth in ways that can still be recognized in parenting today. In modern times, parents put a high value on grades and schooling; Chesterfield chides his son to take more care in his accumulation of knowledge. Respect is also key, parents still demand the same respect from their children as Chesterfield expects from his son. Another thing that parents will often say is to learn from their mistakes which is something Chesterfield places high value on. The things Chesterfield tries to pass on in this letter to his son say a lot about his personal values, namely, the value he places on respect, education, and decision making. Throughout his letter, Lord Chesterfield makes small, passive aggressive remarks that hint underhandedly at the repercussions should his son choose not to respect what he is saying. He threatens that his young son can not have a shilling in the world but from [him] (27 28). Here, Chesterfield warns that he will not be allowed even a little bit of the family s fortune unless he gives it to him. Basically, Chesterfield is exposing the complete dependency his son has on him due to their aristocratic status. This also alludes to respect because if his son does not respect him, he will quiet literally have nothing. Magnetar stars are highly magnetic objects, they are even stronger than Earth. It is also 100 to 1,000 times stronger than radio pulsar. Because we are unsure how this star can be as strong as it is, theorist say it would have to rotate between 100 to 1,000 times per second. Brown Dwarfs is the in between size of a giant planet and a large star. This star is also a very dense star, but not as dense as the white dwarf. • 12. Persuasive Essay On Bottled Water Today water bottles are marketed all over the world, and about 1,000 bottles are consumed every second. In fact, it has been reported that 200 billion water bottles are sold globally collecting 60 billion dollars. Additionally, bottled water was created for being portable, because of ordinary tap water quality, safety and health concerns, and as a substitute for sugary drinks. In contrast, bottled water shouldn t be around anymore because they have become a health and environmental issue. Water bottles have been proven to be hazardous to human health due to the large number of chemicals found in them. Most of the bottles are not biodegradable, which damages the environment. Despite them being portable, alternative to tap water, and a substitute for sugary drinks bottled water shouldn t be used anymore because they are hazardous to the environment, human and animal life. It is ironic that water bottles were brought up for safer and purer water, but retains an exceedingly number of chemicals. In the U.S, there are an abundance of organizations that deem what are harmless for humans to consume. The Federal Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulate bottled water, however tap water is overseen by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), which has higher standards than the FDA meaning some bottles aren t even approved to rinse your hands with. More importantly, bottled waters contain contaminates, chemical contaminates, pesticides, disinfectants, and radioactive materials. Equally important, bottled water has contaminants of Coliform (rod shaped bacteria), Arsenic (poison), Chloride (a compound of chlorine), Iron, Manganese (resembles iron and is used in fertilizer), phenols (Poisonous acidic compounds), Zinc, and Fluoride (deliberately added to some bottled water). Not to mention the most popular chemical BPA, the chemical applied to form the plastic solid and transparent. Some water bottles contain about 15 milligrams of chemical contaminants from 10 different chemicals. • 13. The Creation Of Discourses Throughout Media The creation of discourses throughout media is presumably why most Americans feel the way they do about certain migrants and their cultures. Discourses are the illusions created by actions within media to create a certain bias. They are seen throughout all global media, not just immigration. However, immigration is a hot topic in our society today. Transnationalists, migrants, and refugees are all terms relative to the subject. Media today has changed these terms and coined phrases such as illegal aliens and other explicit terms defining people. Our country was built on migrants coming here for a better life, yet today, new migrants are considered illegal and taking Americans jobs. Chavez s excerpt explains discourses several decades ago. Today, we face relative discourses throughout media, especially with our current republican candidates for the next election. Mentioned in Chavez s, Covering Immigration the Statue of Liberty plays a significant role in American views toward immigration. From the 1970 s to 90 s, the Statue of Liberty is seen on thirteen separate magazine covers. According to polls, 57% picked the statue as their favorite national icon. In the fall of 2015, Time released a magazine covering of the Statue showing a dirty hand, relaying the message, Who gets to be an American again? Utilizing further bolstering her good fortune traditions of stories, for example, character improvement, plot control, and incongruity, she can bring the readers into a universe of feelings that society would laugh at. Kate Chopin s artistic ability would have never been so unequivocally established in the event that it was not for the conditions encompassing her life and childhood. Her dad kicked the bucket when she was just four years of age, which left her mom and grandma to raise and shape her cravings and belief systems (Charters 156). Social media is the noun used to define websites that enable users to create and share content or to participate in social networking. Now you may wonder, what is the difference in social media and social networking? Social networking is the practice of expanding the number of one s business and/or social contacts by making connections through individuals, often through social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and Instagram. (cite) | Statistics show that most children get introduced to cyberbullying when they fully understand how to use the internet. The majority of children have admitted to harassing or being bullied on a social media website from the age nine to eighteen. The gender of the child also makes a difference according to some poles taken. Girls are more likely to spread rumors through the virtual world, whereas; boys are more expected to comment and post antagonizing pictures and videos. • 16. The Way Of Life Has Forever Changed The way of life has forever changed. Living like our parents did is not an option for the technology thirsty current economy. We have become so dependent on technology and its advances that without it, we simply would not be able to function. If every computer and computer system suddenly crashed or stopped working it would be pure chaos, every nuclear facility would become uncontrollable, and there would be numerous toxic meltdowns, airplanes would fall from the sky, trains and cars and other forms of transportation would be unusable, communications would stop, electricity would go out, people would die (Dilard, 2014). These systems are so vital to the way we function as a society that to think of life without them is comical. Networks and systems are so vital to business and society that special positions and roles are needed to ensure they are maintained and operate. Network administrator and system administrators are more important and demanding roles than an average user would think. Users can go weeks, possibly even months without having to phone their administrators for help, but this is not due to no issues, this is due to administrators actively doing their job. Platform 9 ¾, an integral location within the Harry Potter series by JK Rowling, provides the focus for the final third of this chapter. Initially, I analyse the site as a barrier to the tourist, before considering its nature as a collectively read text, and finally I discuss the platform as a disregarded location within the Harry Potter series. Located within the concourse of King s Cross station, a space which sees a footfall of approximately 48 million individuals per year (Network Rail, n.d.), Platform 9 ¾ is one of the most visible literary spaces within the United Kingdom, with replicas of the platform existing internationally in sites as diverse as The Wizarding World of Harry Potter theme park in Orlando, Florida through to the public railway station in Wellington, New Zealand. Driven by the perpetual success of the Harry Potter series across a range of diverse media, these worldwide representations of the platform offer tourists the opportunity to experience a simulacrum of the platform at King s Cross, a site embodied with a primacy of location. This primacy, led through the primary evidence of the texts and the visual authority providing by the locations used in the film, seems set to continue upon the imminent cinematic release of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (2016) and the two part play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child (2016). This does not make any sense? Although the instruction from God was a bit strange and uncomprehensive, still they obeyed and put their faith in the Lord, that he will fulfill his promise. Food substances pass through the alimentary canal which starts at the mouth and eventually ends up at the anus. Ingestion is the consumption of a substance through the mouth e.g. eating or drinking. The mouth increases surface area for chemical digestion as Salivary glands produce Saliva which contains amylase to breakdown starch. Saliva also contains mineral salts to keep PH constant and Mucin to make food slimy and easier to pass down the oesophagus. Directed by Sam Mendes, husband and father Lester Burnham experiences symptoms of depression, resulting in an extreme midlife crisis, ultimately leading to his own demise. • 23. A Twitch Upon The Thread The second book of Evelyn Waugh s book Brideshead Revisited is, significantly, entitled A Twitch Upon the Thread. The meaning of this title reflects on many characters in this book, but particularly on Charles Ryder, the narrator and main character. In Book I of this novel the characters generally become more and more distanced from their faith. Book II is entitled A Twitch Upon the Thread because this is when Charles and other characters start to find their faith again and get pulled back into Catholicism, like an unseen hook and an invisible line which is long enough to let him wander to the ends of the world and still to bring him back (Waugh 220). For most of the novel it is clear that Charles is agnostic. Not until the second book and ending do we see Charles slowly start his conversion from agnosticism to Catholicism. We do know, however, that Charles was taken to church weekly as a child (85), so this recent discovery of Catholicism is really a return to God. As the character Cordelia says in an argument with Charles while discussing her father and sibling s loss of religion, God won t let them go for long (220). In other words, the twitch upon the thread is inevitable. Charles slowly starts his conversion when he sees Lord Marchmain (also an agnostic) while dying accepts his last sacrament. Then in the Epilogue, Charles makes it apparent that he is in fact a Catholic when he discusses the candle that stays lit, which refers to the candle that stays lit ... Standing in ruins as a former temple dedicated to the Greek Goddess of wisdom, Athena, the Parthenon has held the most important sculptures made by the Greeks. During the 1800s, when Greece was under the control of the Ottomans, sculptures from the Parthenon were sent to Britain by Lord Elgin for safe protection. The Parthenon Marbles have since then never been returned to the Greeks. The sculptures, currently housed in the British Museum in London, should be returned to their homeland because they are part of Greece s culture, they have a safe home ready for them in the Acropolis Museum, they are not being cared for as they should, it would most likely boost the economy, and the English did not have the right to take them in the first place. The question of based on multiple texts/ entertainment ( movies, TV) how has the meaning or requirements for the island archetype change throughout time has been answered throughout this paper. Let s break this down one more time. From the nature of the island archetype we can see that C.G Jung created this for insight on a character which probably is a reason why many of today s origin stories model after this archetype. The Odyssey and the TV show Arrow were clearly made in seperate times, and although they have differences, the two stories share similarities, so just look at how the characters develop. Yes they develop at different times, but the way is basicly the same. The two Batman stories really show a difference, we see a major emotional change from a confident playboy millionaire to a angery almost murderer. Finally, we sum this up and see that the island archetype origin story is basically essential to a character s development. C.G Jung painted the way for literature for growth and new ideas, but he didn t realize that his idea, the island archetype was the revolutionary idea that used the entire paint can of the ... The speaker of Morning Song exclaims We stand around blankly as walls when describing her mental composure to the audience. At this point the reader understands that the concept of motherhood is wildly new to the speaker and she has no idea what to do or how to connect herself to the child. The speaker also depicts the child as a new statue (line 4). This comparison is one that shows the audience that the mother sees the child as something mystifying and not human. Consequently, if she cannot view the child as an opposite of these characteristics, then she will fail to recognize her duties as a mother. • 36. Art Flourishes In Art 1. Under what conditions does art flourish in a civilization? Or decline? Art flourishes in a civilization when people communicate complicated ideas and emotions used to create pieces. Art changes with society. In Egyptian times, they built pyramids that were like monuments and had their own artistic style that was represented by hieroglyphics and human figures made of stone. This was the Egyptians mark in time. In our modern day society, we have buildings, paintings, and statues that all represent the present. Things like politics or natural disasters happening to us currently can help art flourish with expression towards these things. We have political cartoons being created to show the outrage within the political world. There are pieces that make history and remind us of something devastating like a hurricane or earthquake that destroyed cities and took lives. I think art flourishes in both devastating and uplifting times. 2. Is it important to know why artists created works? Learning why artists created works is important because it can communicate different ideas and emotions that we ourselves may not have understood before learning about a piece of art. Usually we first interpret art ourselves until studying up on what the piece means to the creator. No one really knows the exact thoughts and ideas an artist was thinking while creating a piece of artwork, so learning about different pieces gives people a better understanding of what the art really means and why it ...
