The Fischer Controversy. The Publication In 1961 Of Fritz
The Fischer Controversy The publication in 1961 of Fritz Fischer book Germany s Aims in the First
World War, caused a wave of reactions from other historians and the general public. His claim angered
German historians because it stated that Germany was solely responsible for the outbreak of World
War I because they had aggressive war aims in 1914. According to Fischer, World War I was the
excuse Germany needed to advance these aims. Although Fischer s claim focused only on Germany
the impact he made was felt among other nations who had also taken part in World War I. In turn each
of these nations reacted differently to it. However, through articles written by T.G Otte and J.F.V
Keiger some similarities appear between Britain and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He concludes by stating that the initial impact in Great Britain was limited and its lasting impact is
said to be ambiguous. While in West Germany it was explosive in the short term, but overtime it was
cathartic. This article contributes to the discussion of the controversy by addressing the reactions and
the impact Fischer had in Great Britain. Additionally, J.F.V Keiger brings in France s nationalistic
perspective on the Fischer controversy in his article The Fischer Controversy, the War Origins Debate
and France: A Non History. In this article Keiger discusses how little impact the Fischer controversy
made in France and discusses the factors that made this possible. Keiger attributes the lack of impact
do to the fact that France was mentioned only three times in the book, Pierre Renouvin, who was
France s specialist on World War I was critical of Fischer, and the publication date of the book in
France. Furthermore, Keiger goes on to mention other French historians like Jean Claude Allain and
their reasons for why Fischer s claims did not make such an impact in France as they did in West
Germany. The discussion then turns to the state of historiography in France and its approaches to
studying the origins of the war and the schism that seems to have occur within

Decolonization Period Of Afric A European Point Of View
Decolonization period in Africa didn t come peacefully in all the countries. Many times the natives
had to get violent in order to achieve their independence. Although the history of this struggle has two
sides, it has always been portrayed through a European point of view. This painted the Africans as
pure savages without truly examining what drove them to commit these violent acts. Europeans have
always bent history to show themselves in a positive manner. One of the battles in which history has
been mainly one sided is the Mau Mau rebellion in Kenya. In this paper I want to explore the true
reasons the revolt started and how the European interpretations of this took away from the real reasons
why ordinary people took part. By seeing what was used in portraying a negative image, I will try to
break down what were the events leading up to it and what hand did the British play. Examining
events that took place after the war had been won by the British. By comparing and contrasting I will
show the double standards and the importance of consistently questioning history and media. The Mau
Mau uprising is said to have started the course of independence for Kenya. Although the movement
started way before, the official date of the uprising is from 1952 through 1960 .It started with the
Kikuyu people in Central Kenya. As the Mau Mau group grew larger it became more and more
violent. Killing not only the Europeans but also anyone suspected of

Examples Of Dementia In The Notebook
The Notebook is a 2004 romance based on the best selling Nicholas Sparks novel. In the beginning of
the film, there is an elderly woman and man in a nursing home who appear to have little relation. He
reads daily to her which gives her a daily routine. What she doesn t know is that he is actually her
husband and is retelling their life story over and over. She has no recollection of these events and
memories due to her disease. She has Alzheimer s disease. Throughout the film, she has several
interactions with him unaware of his identity, as well as with her children. She has lucid moments for
a brief time frame where she will remember him and their past, but this quickly fades and she becomes
aggressive and frightened. There are four identified forms of dementia: Alzheimer s disease, vascular
dementia, Lewy Body dementia, and Frontotemporal dementia. Alzheimer s is the most common and
is discussed in the following paragraphs. Vascular dementia is the second most common form. It is
caused by several small strokes that result in brain damage. The severity of this ... Show more content

Clothes In Their Eyes Were Watching God
Throughout Janie s three marriages in Their Eyes Were Watching God, she has a different set of
clothes that she describes wearing in each marriage. These outfits represent the type of relationship
she is in. Throughout the book, they also show how she evolves into a strong, self confident woman.
In Their Eyes Were Watching God, clothing symbolizes where Janie is in her life and the type of
relationship she is part of.
When Janie finds out that her grandmother wants her to marry Logan Killicks, she is horrified because
she is not attracted to him. She even goes so far as to say that He looks like some ole skullhead in de
graveyard (13). Soon after the start of her marriage, she finds out how unhappy she truly is with her
relationship. She wears an apron because of how much time she spends in the kitchen. Although she
already had a lot on her plate, Logan tells her that there is no reason why she shouldn t work just as
hard as he does, and demands her to help with the firewood. Janie s wearing of the apron symbolized
her heavy workload in her marriage to Logan. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Me Too Movement Research Paper
The Me Too movement is a public conversation that allows women who have been sexually harassed
or abused to speak up about it and not feel like they are invisible. It has spread worldwide throughout
women who face obstacles everyday in there personal and professional lives from being sexually
assaulted. The Me Too movement had already been around for years but it recently just started getting
attention from women who have been scared to share their story. The movement wants to give people
a voice and speak out about sexual violence. The movement was started by a girl named, Tarana
Burke, who was sexually abused by her mothers boyfriend. Later an actress, Alyssa Milano, shared a
tweet that said, If you have been sexually harassed or assaulted ... Show more content on

This movement has placed innocent people into the same category as sex offenders and not giving
them a chance to defend. These people who are speaking out have turned this whole situation in a
different direction. They are turning clumsy flirting into a rape assault just to get the men in

Lucid Grey Analysis
In 2003 five people in Kentucky decided to form a band which they called Lucid Grey. It originally
started off as a trio and then evolved into five members (Greg, Blue, Clark, Justin, and Billy). Tension
and Release was the first music released by the band in an extended play (EP) which is what
something is called when it is too short to be and album. The music from the EP licensed to MTV and
featured in a Lions Gate film. Lucid Grey released their full length album Eucatastrophe in 2011, the
album contained eighteen songs. The album itself is somewhere between a rock album and a metal
album so I would categorize it as hard rock. The fallowing songs are the songs that I feel express the
album and what it wanted to be. The second song of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Free is one of the best songs on the album, it has a very different style from the previous songs being
more Folk Rock if that s a genre? It has a slow introduction slowly adding instruments until halfway it
becomes more of a rock song. As the song title suggests the song is about freedom but it is more about
gaining that the freedom by sacrificing the past giving the song more of a sullen feel. On the cd case I
was given it has suggested tracks and the fourth song Shatter is recommended and it is the highest
rated song of the album on iTunes so it must be good. This song is from what I can tell fallows the
same pattern of barricades meaning it switches from rock to metal, but this time it maintains what I
would call a metal instrumental throughout the song, and near the end it has a weird guitar rift which
turned me off of this song. Skipping ahead in the album brings us to legion which starts off with
mournful bells transitioning into a slower rock song with metal

Pathological Processes Help Distinguish Medical Conditions
Pathophysiology Assessment 2: Case based assignment
Pathological processes help distinguish medical conditions through the use of a variety methods to
assist in diagnosis and treatment of patients. Mr Johns, a 60 year old male has exhibited to his doctor a
number of symptoms that usually coincide and are distinctive with issues relating to the respiratory
and cardiovascular systems of the body. This case based assignment will in order to assist in the
treatment of Mr Johns, assist in diagnosing his conditions by; investigating the presenting features and
its pathophysiology, analyse the results and importance of vital signs, physical inspection and blood
tests, construct a differential diagnosis signifying likely conditions the patient may be experiencing ,
and finally providing a justification for further diagnostic tests.
Signs and Symptoms
One of the chief complaints Mr Johns presents is shortness of breath, also known as dyspnoea whilst
he is resting. Breathlessness is a multidimensional and subjective experience of difficulty or
uncomfortable breathing originating from an intricate interaction between physiological and
psychological factors (Yorke 2014). Mr Johns presents a respiration rate of 28 breaths per minute,
which is peculiarly elevated, and is specified as tachypnoea. Tachypnoea signifies that a greater
volume of oxygen is needed to supply components of the body, or to recompense for limited supply in
bodily systems where there has been a restriction of

Mass Migration to America During the 19th Century
This essay will address the reasons as to why there was mass migration to the United States of
America during the nineteenth century. As for this topic, the reasons for the mass migration was due to
industrialisation and employment and living standards, and thus many migrants traveled to America
with the hope of a better life. By saying that the reasons for the mass migration are primarily due to
industrialisation and employment and living standards, it is important to emphasize that the migrants
destination of America was better than remaining in their origin country. With all of this considered,
this essay will examine the roles of industrialisation and employment and living standard in the
decision to migrate to the United Sates of America during the nineteenth century. The potential reach
of this essay needs to be specified at the outset by identifying the migrants, whom traveled to America.
In the nineteenth century, the type of migrants can be broken into two periods, the early part of the
century, and the later half of the century. In the first half of the century, the migrants were primarily
farmers and artisans from rural areas, who traveled with family, and intended to acquire land and settle
permanently, whereas, in contrast, the migrants from the later half of the century were drawn from
urban areas with nonagricultural occupations, yet, in comparison, all the migrants were typically
unskilled and young, whom had limited schooling and training (Hatton,

Treating Information Privacy Flaws Of The Federal Trade...
TREATING INFORMATION PRIVACY DEFICIENCIES IN CYBERSPACE
Introduction
Scholars are divided on the fundamental question of the Federal Trade Commission s (FTC)
adjudicative capacity under the FTC Act. The FTC uses a reasonableness standard and considers each
company s data security practices on a case by case basis. For more than a decade, the FTC s
enforcement of data security actions invoked under §5 of the Federal Trade Commission Act (FTC
Act) resulted in consent decrees and settlements, subsequently scrutinized by practitioners as carrying
as much precedential value as judicial opinions.
In 2015, the Third Circuit Court Appeals decision in Wyndham reinforced the FTC s authority to
pursue enforcement actions against companies that do not have reasonable data security practices.
Notwithstanding a motion to dismiss arguing that, inter alia, (1) the FTC lacks authority to regulate
under §5 of the FTC Act and (2) the FTC failed to provide fair notice and of what constitutes
reasonable data security standards and (3) §5 does not govern the security of payment card data;
Wyndham marked the first time federal courts held that the FTC has authority under §5 of the FTC
Act to enforce data security practices.
Equipped with Wyndham, the FTC s guidelines in providing information about what acts constitutes
unfair or deceptive practices carry more precedential force than ever before. Essentially, the Circuit
Court of Appeals holding in Wyndham affirms the FTC s discretion to

Beyond these factors, there is evidence of a pathophysiological role for inflammation and oxidative
stress in CKD and its complications [2]. These two events are prominent features of CKD and its
complications in humans [3,4,5,6,7]. Increased oxygen radical formation was found in CKD, in the
presence of a reduced antioxidant defense [8]. Patients suffer from chronic microinflammation and
infections [9]. Gum Arabic (GA) is derived from exudates of Acacia senegal or Acacia seyal trees. It
consists of a mixture of polysaccharides (major component) plus oligosaccharides and glycoproteins
[1,2]; however, its composition can vary with its source, climate and soil. Sudan is the world s largest
producer, followed by many other African countries. It readily dissolves in water to form solutions
characterized by low viscosity. This allows its use in various applications [3]. Gum Arabic was
evaluated for acceptable daily intake for man by the Joint FAO/WHO Expert Committee on Food
Additives since 1969 [5]; however, Sudanese people in Western Sudan had been using it for long time
without limitations. It is indigestible to both humans and animals, not degraded in the intestine, but
fermented in the colon to give short chain fatty acids, leading to a large range of possible health
benefits [6]. One of these benefits is its prebiotic effect [7,8]. It has been claimed that four week

Book Review Of The Notebook By Nicholas Sparks
I read The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks, a 250 page novel published on October 1, 1996. This book
can be classified as realistic fiction, but is considered to be a romance novel due to the heart pulling
plot line of two star crossed lovers. My attention was caught quickly when I saw this book, because I
had watched the movie with my girlfriend which motivated me to read it. It took me about three days
to read behind Mrs. Kosters desk, each day during the same week; it was a quick and easy read. This
work was completely fiction; however, Sparks was inspired by his wife s beloved grandparents. They
had spent over sixty years together, with their story being shared with Sparks and his wife, inspiration
from their love made its way into the book. Noah comes back, after fighting in World War ll, to his
home in New Bern, Carolina. Where he spends his days building a house to distract himself from
remencising on a girl he fell in love with over a summer shared together. Allie, who is about to get
married, stumbles upon a newspaper with Noah on it; curiousity gets the best of her and she decides to
visit him. Both have been separated for fourteen years due to social class, with Allie coming from a
wealthy family, and Noah who worked at a lumberyard. Reuniting brings out a tidal wave of emotions
and memories that have been long locked away from both of them, with Noah being in bewilderment
and saying I still can t believe it s you. How did you find me? (Sparks 39). Allie slowly

Essay on American Masculinity
In American culture, society has views about how males and females should behave. Males are viewed
as independent, rough, and tough while females are viewed as social, emotional, and delicate. Starting
in 1792 with the publication of Mary Wollstonecraft s A Vindication of the Rights of Woman, women
began to advocate for changes in how society viewed them ( History of Women s Suffrage ). American
women made additional positive changes to the women s rights movement when they gained the right
to vote in 1920. Since these beginnings, women have continued to push for change. American women
now have the right to wear pants, work, take on male occupations, and decide to remain single.
Despite the advances made for females, males are still ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Music lyrics are one of the many places in which this occurs. Adam Duritz, the lead singer and lyricist
for Counting Crows, demonstrates Lorber s theory by expressing his view of masculinity throughout
his songs. Mr. Jones, Anna Begins, and Insignificant are all examples of Duritz s perpetuation of
gender. These songs, as well as others by Counting Crows, are unique in that they do not portray the
contempory American view of masculinity. The gender messages of Counting Crows are not that of
the old, isolated, unemotional male. Through the music of Counting Crows, singer and songwriter
Adam Duritz breaks the Boy Code described by William Pollack in his book Real Boys and
demonstrates his struggles with the current societal view that masculinity means being unemotional
and unattached.
Traditional American masculinity focuses on a few key concepts. Males are supposed to remain stoic
and hide emotions, they are tough, they do not open up or show feelings, and they are not girl like or
feminine in any way (Oransky and Marecek). In a study of masculinity in male friendship and peer
groups, Oransky and Marecek found that boys feel that acting stoic, tough, and emotionally
invulnerable was necessary for being regarded manly by their peers. Soft emotions such as fear, pain,
and sadness, as well as outward expressions of distress or worry, marked a boy as gay or girly
(Oransky and Marecek 225 226). William Pollack found similar views of

Instead they explain how he blamed his father s leaving as the reason for him never being a good

how to be warriors, to give them the confidence to get on the horse to ride into battle when it s
necessary to do so. If you don t get that from your father, you have to teach yourself. (Part 4) Yes,
there is some responsibility for a father to act appropriately, but it is not a justifiable excuse for a child
without a father to say they cannot do the same things as a child with an engaged father. Strayed
proved that in her own journey because in taking the Hike on the PCT she was recognizing she could
no longer excuse her lapses in character or her lack of paternal care. Strayed wasn t doing drugs
because of her father never being there, she was doing drugs because she felt that was what people

claim that it was not the actions of another during her up bringing that affected her being a good

Shakespeare s Use Of Metatheatre In Hamlet
Metatheatricality in William Shakespeare s Hamlet
There play within a play is a dramatic device used by Shakespeare to explore the human psyche s
ability to manoeuvre and manipulate by staging performances . Shakespeare premises the entire drama
upon the ghost s revelation of the happenings of the murder and Hamlet engages in a facade in order
to grapple with this reality. The overt presence of metatheatre especially with the enacting of The
Murder of Gonzago and in Hamlet s feigning of lunacy, endeavours to reason with and validate
Hamlet s psychological ongoings but does so with underlying irony. Shakespeare, in my opinion, hints
at the futility of such drastic pretence and enactment with the use tragic irony that concludes the play.

From a psychological point of view, feigned madness can be grounds on which Hamlet s future
actions can be legitimised, if not at least be accounted for. To commit a murder for the purpose of
revenge, on the basis of a spirit s account would seem rather absurd but by proclaiming madness, the
entire prospect is more believable and by that extension, validates the possibility of such an account.
More importantly, Proser argues that Hamlet s barrage of incoherencies
(transparent to us, opaque to them) acts as a smoke screen for his own soliloquized plot hatching (
Proser 340 ). In a sense, the artifice of madness can assist as a deceptive tool while Hamlet struggles
internally to resolve the moral quandary of vengeance and seeks to confirm the truth behind the King s
murder. Although Polonius incorrectly attributes
Hamlet s madness to Ophelia s love, his detection that Though this be madness, yet there is method in

Argumentative Essay On White People
We live in a society where white people have the upper hand in almost every circumstance. It is hard
for most if not all white people to understand and comprehend this because privilege is hard to see for
those who were born with access to power and resources (Kendall 1). White people aren t judged by
the color of their skin or certain facial features they possess. Because of their looks, people of color,
specifically black people get shot in the back for walking down the street or just simply fitting a
description. Arab, middle eastern, and dark skinned south Asian people get accused of being terrorists.
White people get to parade around the streets in their pickup trucks blasting Tim McGraw and their
white hillbilly country music waving around multiple confederate flags, armed with loaded weapons,
and wearing white hooded masks that look like a dunce cap covering their entire face which fits,
because white people are a huge disappointment. And some white people are still ... Show more

Case Analysis Of Garanti Bank And GE Company
Today s organizations position themselves to innovate and change, not only to prosper but merely to

the change processes of their strategies, environmental and global factors influencing them,

bank in Turkey. It growth remarkably. It was a national bank and became international. It is true that
almost similar processes is taken by GE, however Garanti is better to me in terms of effectiveness.
Therefore it is more effective to me. Considering both cases, it affected me especially in terms of

The Human Factor of Global Warming
The Human Factor of Global Warming
The Human Factor of Global Warming
Global warming has been a growing concern for many over the last several decades. The effects of
global warming are evident and broad, with historical research dating the first global warming crisis
back 56 million years ago, better known as the Paleocene Eocene Thermal Maximum, or PETM
(Jardine, 2011). Research from the composition of sediments of fossils shells of marine organisms
conclude that carbon dioxide trapped within our atmosphere, increased global temperatures by more
than 5 degrees in just a few thousand years (Jardine, 2011). While global warming may not be in
question, many scientists have questioned the actual global warming effect theory due to ... Show

* While humans might not be solely to blame for global warming, we definitely have a major role.
Most are familiar with the burning of fossil fuels (coal, oil, and gas) as a major contributor to the
overall C02, although, just as equally important is that of deforestation. It was realized that
conversions of land use, primarily deforestation in the tropics, induce substantial terrestrial carbon
losses to the atmosphere, approximately 1.6 billion tons annually (Broadmeadow, Freer Smith, amp; J.
Lynch, 2007). While the cause of deforestation varies in different regions, the key contributors are
cutting down tree to open up more land for agriculture, urban sprawl (Turk amp; Bensel, 2011).
Forests work like filters to remove CO2 from the air and store it in the trees. When the trees are felled
or burned, huge amounts of CO2 are released into the atmosphere at a rapid pace. Urban Sprawl, a
result of deforestation releases significant amounts of green house gases such as CO2. Not only do
you have carbon dioxide being release from burning or cutting of forests, it is coupled by urban
sprawl. It just so happens one of the effects of urban sprawl is that Concrete production contributes 5
percent of annual anthropogenic global CO2 production, mainly because such vast

Use of Persuasive Argument in 12 Angry Men Essay
The movie 12 Angry Men examines the dynamics at play in a United States jury room in the 1950 s. It
revolves around the opinions and mindsets of twelve diverse characters that are tasked with
pronouncing the guilt or innocence of a young man accused of patricide. The extraordinary element is
that their finding will determine his life or death. This play was made into a movie in 1957, produced
by Henry Fonda who played the lead role, Juror #8, and Reginald Rose who wrote the original
screenplay. This essay will explore some of the critical thinking elements found within the context of
this movie, and will show that rational reason and logic when used effectively can overcome the
mostly ineffective rush to judgment that can be prevalent in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

saw the boy running from the down the stairs from the apartment after rising from his bedroom. The
old lady saw the boy kill his father through her window, whilst a train was passing. Juror #8 analyses
each of these points and makes credible arguments that the conclusion is flawed based on incorrect
reasoning, by pointing out inconsistencies in the conclusions reached. The other jurors are content to
believe that their reasoning is solid, as they have used examples of deductive reasoning to reach their
conclusion. Juror #3 gives his reasons for reaching the conclusion that It s quite clear that the boy

fellow jurors, by asking questions. He analyzes the content, by breaking down the component parts

Pumpkins By Francine Prose
Francine Prose s short fictional piece, Pumpkins, was about a therapist who was having an epiphany,
with how this sudden incident that has happened in town, affects him so greatly. The short piece also
played with the significance of the pumpkin in an interesting way. One thing that I noticed in my first
read of Prose s short piece was that it has a very serious and heavy tone. For example, just within the
first two lines, There was a terrible accident. A truck full of Halloween pumpkins is speeding... . As

Argumentative Essay On Luxury Cars
For people who like power and luxury together, the Bentley Mulsanne was a great choice to have.
Bentley Motors produced it throughout the 80 s. It was named after the famous Le Mans race track
section. The Mulsane Straight was the fastest part of the famous track in the 1920 s. This car is
extremely versatile and therefore, owners want to use it for a multitude of reasons.
As with other Bentleys, it is important to keep the luxury car in a pristine condition. For this, you need
to replace the worn out parts and ensure that you do not run the vehicle with a damaged or low
performing component. This means support from spare parts suppliers. Hunt Auto Parts (HAP) can

Are Coaches Ruining A Kid s Love For Sports
Bad coaching, Ruining a kid s love for a sport Are coaches killing childrens love for sports? Coaches
play a large role in how a kid views and plays a sport. It all depends in what type of coach they are,
they could be a good and positive coach for the child or they could be a bad coach which is a huge
negative towards the children. For example, a good coach would keep his/her voice low after a
mistake made by a player and tell him/her what they did wrong. A bad coach on the other hand would
stand up and yell at the kids singling him/her out and telling that player they suck. Kids could quit a
sport they ve loved forever because of how their coaches handle them and the game. Coaching
happens all over the world and for all sports and at any age. With coaching being everywhere there
will be bad coaches. One instance was when coach Raul Aragon got frustrated with an umpire at a
baseball game and was thrown out. He than chased the umpire around until police arrived, he was
coach of an 8 year old baseball team. Another experience with a bad coach is when Kevin Pope, an
assistant football coach, was pointing a bb gun at a player for having bad grades. (Mark McCarter,

The biggest difference between good coaches and bad coaches is how they influence and handle a

Good coaches also make the players a better person in society and help them gain confidence. A good
coach is a fair coach who sees all of his athletes as equals even when some athletes are superior to
others. A bad coach does the opposite of what good coaches. They have a negative effect on the
children they coach. Bad coaches can make practice a hostile environment pushing the kids to their
mental and physical limit. Bad coaches also cut down their players confidence rather than build it

The Lavender Scare
The lavender scare, as coined and explained by David Johnson, refers to the period of time during the
1950 s when a massive witch hunt that targeted homosexual government employees was thriving in
America s social system. Johnson calls it the lavender scare in order to draw parallels with Joseph
McCarthy s Red Scare, which happened at the same time, and to echo the common association during
the 1950s with gay men and what was commonly considered an effeminate color (Johnson 2004).
Friedman also writes about the lavender scare, citing Joseph McCarthy as the main proponent of this
political and social movement. During the scare, Friedman argues, McCarthy set the homophobic
precedent that millions of Americans would adhere to in the following decades (Friedman 2005).
During the lavender scare, Gregory Lewis and Louise Robbins detail how the attitudes of homophobia
created harmful legislation that led to the mass firings of thousands of government employees (Lewis
1997; Lewis 2001; Robbins 1994). Dennis Altman and Ian Lekus both argued that the lavender scare
caused widespread homophobia throughout the government that then transferred to the general
population (Altman 1998; Lekus 2006). Kevin Leonard also brings up the important point that
homosexual people of color, specifically African Americans, were subjected not only to the copious
amounts of homophobia during the mid 20th century, but also the incredibly racist ... Show more

The Film Love Actually by Bridget Jones
Love Actually Essay
The film trailers designed to promote the film Love Actually represent a particular view of modern
love and relationships. Explore this idea within a media analysis framework.
From the makers of Bridget Jones s Diary and Notting Hill, the film Love Actually is a romantic
comedy about igniting laughter, wrecking havoc, breaking hearts, daring commitment and forcing
choices. The film is of a typical romantic comedy genre, which is targeted at teenagers and adults. The
key ingredients of a romantic comedy are that it is optimistic and it has humour combined with love

Love and relationships in modern society means a strong positive emotion of regard and affection. In
my views, it is an intense affectionate concern or an intense sexual desire for another person. It is a
term of endearment and a strong fondness or enthusiasm for something. A stereotypical view of
contemporary love exists, which is based principally on gender, social class and race. In Love
Actually, Huge Grant, who is the prime minister, falls in love with his secretary; Martine McCutcheon.
This contrasts with the stereotype regarding social background, as Huge Grant is of a much higher
status than Martine McCutcheon in the film. The title of the film automatically reveals various types
of love, with the emphasis on actually. I think this suggests that the views of love and relationships
portrayed in the film are the views of contemporary love. In the title of the film, Love Actually, the
word Love is highlighted in bold and is red. Stereotypically, red is the colour of love, which is
probably why this colour was used. The soundtracks for both trailers are very different. The first
trailer consists of slow and romantic music, which suggests that it is a film targeted at couples or older

Backward Design, a planning guide
The concept of planning backward starting from desired results (the end in mind) is not new. In 1949
Ralph Tyler described this approach as an effective process for focusing instruction. Recently, Stephen
Covey, in the bestselling book, Seven Habits of Highly Effective People, reports that effective people
in various fields are goal oriented and plan with the end in mind.
Although not a new idea, the deliberate use of backward design for planning curriculum units and
courses results in more clearly defined goals, more appropriate assessments, more tightly aligned
lessons, and more purposeful teaching.
The backward design process explained by Wiggins McTighe begins with the end in mind: One starts

Risk Reduction Techniques in Management Decision Making
Risk Reduction Techniques in Management Decision Making
11/3/2009
1. Sensitivity Analysis
This is a technique that shows how different variables affect the value of a particular variable. For
example, it shows the affect on profit following a change in sales price and/or volume.
Pros:
Sensitivity analysis shows the sensitivity of economic payoffs to uncertain values such as discount
rates. Management can see the profitability of a project if input values change [ (Marshall, 1995) ]. It
is easy to use and understand. Therefore it is most useful when more advanced and time consuming
techniques are not possible. Management can see which factors are the most influential in ... Show

Therefore the decisions for management should be easier to make. Knowing the exact cost structure
would allow the firm to use CVP analysis reliably.
Cons:
Perfect information means all uncertainty is removed. This is rarely achievable and therefore this
concept is more theoretical than practical. Information is also costly to attain.
6. Simulation
Simulation is a technique for studying a system that involves setting up a model of the real system and
then performing experiments on the model rather than on the system. It is used in problems like
inventory control and production planning.
Pros:
The simulation model can be used to test different alternatives that would be too expensive or
impractical to perform on the real system. Simulation is useful where other analytical techniques are
not applicable. Simulation is cheaper and less risky than altering the real system [ (Lucey, 2002) ].
Cons:
The models are complex and therefore they can take up significant amounts of managerial and
technical time. Computer expertise is also required and this may not be available [ (Lucey, 2002) ].
Simulations do not always result in the optimal outcome. The manager makes the decision based on
the tested alternatives. The optimal decision may not have been tested. Simulations are not relevant to
all management decisions.

Sources Of New Business Ideas
Sources of New Business Ideas According to Hisrich, sources for new business ideas come from five
different thing; Customers, existing products and services, distribution channels, the federal

The History Of Communism
Communism is an economic system where the government owns the means of production, and is one
where there is no private ownership because it is under the control of the communities or the state.
Since its proposal in 1848 by German Philosophers, Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels, in their book,
The Communist Manifesto , there are many who have been influenced by the writings of Marx and
Engels. This has led to many revolutions and establishments of governments with the communist
ideals of peace, solidarity, and labour. The communists of today do not have to live in fear as the

Those who oppose them, from everyday people to the media, will point to the statistics. They will
state that communism killed 100 million people in the 20th century, but the counterargument to that is
simply to point out the fact that capitalism kills, and has killed, more people every 5.5 years. One need
only look at the statistics, such as those mentioned in the article: Attempting the Impossible
Calculating Capitalisms Death Toll where the numbers are crunched together, and by looking
throughout the history of capitalism and its influences. Also, one can think of many more deaths
ranging from African slavery, Manifest Destiny, the colonization of Africa, and to the many wars
brought on or backed by capitalist countries. The claim of the opposition is always that capitalist
countries were protecting their interests and allies, but it does not warrant the unrestrained use of
excessive force, especially when non capitalist countries attempt it and are met with massive
condemnations and sanctions by capitalist countries. Opposition will say that communism starves the
people. In the dictatorship of countries claiming to be communists, this is true, but to those who use it
to point to the evils of communism need to see that capitalism is no better, it is even worse. In
capitalist societies, particularly the United States, that boasts of power and prestige, one has to wonder
why millions die in a country that has the means and equipment to feed the hungry, but would rather
spend it on big businesses while an old man struggles to keep his small store from failing, a country
that can provide healthcare coverage to all, but would rather have a family pay out of pocket. They can

been a success for the day.
Seasonal Factors Seasonal factors are defined as the amount of correction needed in a time series to
adjust for the season of the year (Chase, Jacobs, Aquilano, 2006, Chapter 13). The word seasonal does
not always mean weather. Seasonal in business terms is usually classified as an activity of some sort.
In my situation, I don t have any seasonal factors that can affect my morning routine. My husband has
already left the house and I am alone in a stable environment (my home).
Confidence Intervals Confidence intervals allow us to pinpoint data to a degree of confidence. The
intervals are used to estimate the reliability of an estimate. Usually, the confidence levels that are
calculated are 90%, 95%, and 99%. The confidence intervals for my particular situation are as follows:
|Confidence Intervals |Lower Confidence Interval (mins.) |Upper Confidence Interval (mins.) |

Heroin And Its Effects On The Brain
Heroin, a chemical imposter, is an illegal, extremely addictive drug derived from opium. Heroin can
reach the brain by methods of injection, nasal inhalation, or smoked. In our brain there are many
receptor sites, each site specific for different neurotransmitters. In this paper I will refer to the opiate
receptor. Naturally, our brain is responsible for making endorphins, a natural opiate of the body. These
endorphins are the feel good chemical sensations in the brain, when we are exposed to pain or stress.
Heroin mimics the opium chemical, creating the effect of pleasure and euphoric feelings. I will look
into how heroin affects the cerebral cortex and how different genders perceive and treat the effects of
heroin. The opiates in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The opioid is synthesized from morphine, and when entering the brain, heroin is converted back to
morphine. Upon entering, the once opioid, now morphine, binds to opioid receptors, specifically in the
brainstem. The brainstem is vital for controlling automatic processes vital for life, like blood pressure,
arousal, and respiration. These processes are how we continue to live; heroin use and overdose can
then lead to death by suppression of these vital life processes, such as suppression of breathing
(National Institute on Drug Abuse, 2014). While heroin undoubtedly affects our processes of living, it
also interrupts our sensations and perceptions. Users describe the feeling of heroin as a euphoric or
rush feeling. This rush reportedly last one to two minutes, where the actual high lasts hours. Other
sensations associated with heroin are reduction of anxiety and depression, safe and warm feelings, and
pain relief (Hartney, 2014). While heroin affects sensations, it also changes motor functions, such as
reaction times. In a study I examined, experimenters tested reaction times in heroin abusers of
different genders. In the experiment, researchers formulated two groups, one control and the other
heroin dependent currently in a withdrawal period; researchers choose participants specifically on
certain guidelines. For the experiment, participants were asked to focus on a visual stimulus on a
computer screen. There were asked to press a button when they saw the

The Ford Motor Company Changed The Auto World
Be ready to revise any system, scrap any method, abandon any theory, if the success of the job
requires it. This is a quote from the famous innovator Henry Ford. Throughout the history of mankind,
many individuals changed the world that we see today. One man helped shape the modern world that
we live in today. That man s name is Henry Ford. The Ford Motor Company has been in business for
109 years, and throughout that time, Ford changed the automotive industry forever. Ford introduced
the Model T, and that was just the beginning of how the Ford Motor Company changed the auto
world. If you look back at the early life of Ford, you can see how the failure of his first automobile
company led to the success of his second business, The Ford ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

While he was not at work he would spend most his free time in his shed working on different
inventions. The one that he worked on the most was his first horseless carriage the quadracycle. It was
just a single person vehicle that he built using bicycle parts. Just a frame, 4 bike tires, and a small
engine. This invention led to financial support from investors where he made his first company. The
Detroit Automobile Company, but it didn t last long because the investors didn t get their money back
fast enough. With the company failing he left it to the investors and he then started what we all know
as The Ford Motor Company in 1903. The first Ford vehicle was the model A. The process to two or
three workers an entire day to build the vehicle with parts that were made from other manufactures.
Ford thought that this process was entirely too long. This is when he finally brought the assembly line
and mass production into the automobile industry.
In 1908 Ford created the Model T, the first affordable vehicle for the working class family, and the
first vehicle to be built using mass production and the assembly line. Ford s vehicles took entirely to
long from start to finish. In 1913, Ford installs the first moving assembly line for the mass production
of an entire automobile. His innovation reduced the time it took to build a car from more than 12
hours to two hours and 30 minutes. When the process of building a

Flowers For Te An Invaluable Technique
Flowers for Tea Chabana, flowers for tea, is an invaluable technique that can be found in the Japanese
tea ceremony (Chanoyu). It was derived from the art of flower arranging, Ikebana, and has its
techniques rooted in Shintoism and Buddhism. First, the arrangements began as a way of celebrating
the seasons in conjunction with life and death that nature exhibits. It is the ephemeral realm found
within Buddhism and the celebration of nature which Shinto embodies that brought these arts to their
fruition. Also, this form of decoration near or in the tokonoma (alcove) is displayed as a way of
indicating the seasons or evoking the meaning of the kakejiku (scroll), as well as, the feeling of wabi.
Several varying themes are found throughout chabana in reference to the underlying themes in
chanoyu those being shin, gyo, so. These themes are attributed to the formal, semi formal and
informal tea gatherings found in bowing, floral arrangements and floral vessels found in the tea
ceremony.
The development of chabana from ikebana is attributed to the tea master Sen no Rikyu. There are
several theories as to the reason why Rikyu brought flowers into the tea ceremony; the first was that
his wife placed a beautiful flower in the tokonoma in which a guest admired and the second involved
Toyotomi Hideyoshi. According to author Henry Mittwer, Hideyoshi had heard of rumors of Rikyu s
garden in which beautiful morning glories grew; when he was invited by Rikyu for morning tea,

Research Paper On Giotto
This is an artwork is by Giotto. Giotto was an artist that was very advance for his time. He grew up as
a shepherds boy in the outskirts of florence. There he worked on his paintings when an artist named
Cimabue saw his artwork and took him under his wing as an apprentice. Giotto s work is so important
because he was using a thing called perspective. Perspective was lost during the middle ages, but
Giotto reclaimed it. Though nobody used this method for a couple hundred years, if it weren t for
Giotto then it could have been much longer before art became more advanced. Florence, Italy had
other important features during the Renaissance besides Giotto s artwork. Florence was one of the five
very important city states in Italy. It was the capital of banking, thanks to the de Medici family. The de
Medici family was one of many families that ruled the city. This family also established their own
bank, which is what made them so powerful. Among being the banking capital, the city was very

This picture depicts Martin Luther, a priest, who posted the 95 Thesis on his church door. The 95
Thesis was a list that stated 95 complaints he had about the church. This drew a lot of attention to the
priest from the church. It also drew a lot of attention to the people. This lead to others finally
snapping, deciding that it was time for a change. October, 31, 1517, was the official start of the
Reformation, in Wittenberg, Germany. Besides the beginning of the Reformation taking place in
Wittenberg other things did occur. One involves Martin Luther once again. Here, Luther wrote the
New Testament in German. This was on of his greatest accomplishments, along with his posting of the
95 Thesis. Once the Bible began being written in different languages, it let people interpret the Bible
themselves. This opened up people s eyes to

The Importance Of Cultural Diversity
Cultural Diversity is the existence of a variety of cultural or ethnic groups within a society. There are
many processes of Walt s adaptation to cultural diversity. First, there is the obvious discord between
Walt and the young Father of the church. This situation presents cultural differences of identity;
specifically, age and religion. This eventually becomes a hindrance in Walt and his Father Janovich s
perception of each other. Walt does not think Father Janovich is credible due to his age and his
religious culture of Catholicism, therefore, his dedication to his deceased wife is not anchored by any
firm foundation. Father Janovich wants to keep the promises he made to Walt s late wife Dorothy, but
Walt is not convinced. This difference in cultural identity leads Walt to make numerous offensive
remarks to Father Janovich, but young Janovich s faith allows him to exercise patience and
longsuffering with Walt. Another aspect of Walt s adaptation to cultural diversity is the language
barriers. Walt s culture of offensive language creates a cultural divide within his own family. Though
he and his family speak the same language, their inability to communicate inter culturally creates
dysfunction, as shown in the scene Unhappy Birthday. Walt s oldest son and his wife presents birthday
gifts for Walt, as they believe these are thoughtful and will make Walt s life easier. Entirely out of
touch with Walt s goals and values, their gifts and suggestions are dismissed, as well

  • 2. The Fischer Controversy. The Publication In 1961 Of Fritz The Fischer Controversy The publication in 1961 of Fritz Fischer book Germany s Aims in the First World War, caused a wave of reactions from other historians and the general public. His claim angered German historians because it stated that Germany was solely responsible for the outbreak of World War I because they had aggressive war aims in 1914. According to Fischer, World War I was the excuse Germany needed to advance these aims. Although Fischer s claim focused only on Germany the impact he made was felt among other nations who had also taken part in World War I. In turn each of these nations reacted differently to it. However, through articles written by T.G Otte and J.F.V Keiger some similarities appear between Britain and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He concludes by stating that the initial impact in Great Britain was limited and its lasting impact is said to be ambiguous. While in West Germany it was explosive in the short term, but overtime it was cathartic. Additionally, J.F.V Keiger brings in France s nationalistic perspective on the Fischer controversy in his article The Fischer Controversy, the War Origins Debate and France: A Non History. In this article Keiger discusses how little impact the Fischer controversy made in France and discusses the factors that made this possible. Keiger attributes the lack of impact do to the fact that France was mentioned only three times in the book, Pierre Renouvin, who was France s specialist on World War I was critical of Fischer, and the publication date of the book in France. Furthermore, Keiger goes on to mention other French historians like Jean Claude Allain and their reasons for why Fischer s claims did not make such an impact in France as they did in West Germany. • 3. Decolonization Period Of Afric A European Point Of View Decolonization period in Africa didn t come peacefully in all the countries. Many times the natives had to get violent in order to achieve their independence. Although the history of this struggle has two sides, it has always been portrayed through a European point of view. This painted the Africans as pure savages without truly examining what drove them to commit these violent acts. Europeans have always bent history to show themselves in a positive manner. One of the battles in which history has been mainly one sided is the Mau Mau rebellion in Kenya. In this paper I want to explore the true reasons the revolt started and how the European interpretations of this took away from the real reasons why ordinary people took part. By seeing what was used in portraying a negative image, I will try to break down what were the events leading up to it and what hand did the British play. Examining events that took place after the war had been won by the British. By comparing and contrasting I will show the double standards and the importance of consistently questioning history and media. The Mau Mau uprising is said to have started the course of independence for Kenya. Although the movement started way before, the official date of the uprising is from 1952 through 1960 .It started with the Kikuyu people in Central Kenya. As the Mau Mau group grew larger it became more and more violent. Killing not only the Europeans but also anyone suspected of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As for this topic, the reasons for the mass migration was due to industrialisation and employment and living standards, and thus many migrants traveled to America with the hope of a better life. By saying that the reasons for the mass migration are primarily due to industrialisation and employment and living standards, it is important to emphasize that the migrants destination of America was better than remaining in their origin country. With all of this considered, this essay will examine the roles of industrialisation and employment and living standard in the decision to migrate to the United Sates of America during the nineteenth century. The potential reach of this essay needs to be specified at the outset by identifying the migrants, whom traveled to America. In the nineteenth century, the type of migrants can be broken into two periods, the early part of the century, and the later half of the century. In the first half of the century, the migrants were primarily farmers and artisans from rural areas, who traveled with family, and intended to acquire land and settle permanently, whereas, in contrast, the migrants from the later half of the century were drawn from urban areas with nonagricultural occupations, yet, in comparison, all the migrants were typically unskilled and young, whom had limited schooling and training (Hatton, ... TREATING INFORMATION PRIVACY DEFICIENCIES IN CYBERSPACE Introduction Scholars are divided on the fundamental question of the Federal Trade Commission s (FTC) adjudicative capacity under the FTC Act. The FTC uses a reasonableness standard and considers each company s data security practices on a case by case basis. For more than a decade, the FTC s enforcement of data security actions invoked under §5 of the Federal Trade Commission Act (FTC Act) resulted in consent decrees and settlements, subsequently scrutinized by practitioners as carrying as much precedential value as judicial opinions. In 2015, the Third Circuit Court Appeals decision in Wyndham reinforced the FTC s authority to pursue enforcement actions against companies that do not have reasonable data security practices. Notwithstanding a motion to dismiss arguing that, inter alia, (1) the FTC lacks authority to regulate under §5 of the FTC Act and (2) the FTC failed to provide fair notice and of what constitutes reasonable data security standards and (3) §5 does not govern the security of payment card data; Wyndham marked the first time federal courts held that the FTC has authority under §5 of the FTC Act to enforce data security practices. These two events are prominent features of CKD and its complications in humans [3,4,5,6,7]. Increased oxygen radical formation was found in CKD, in the presence of a reduced antioxidant defense [8]. Patients suffer from chronic microinflammation and infections [9]. Gum Arabic (GA) is derived from exudates of Acacia senegal or Acacia seyal trees. It consists of a mixture of polysaccharides (major component) plus oligosaccharides and glycoproteins [1,2]; however, its composition can vary with its source, climate and soil. Sudan is the world s largest producer, followed by many other African countries. It readily dissolves in water to form solutions characterized by low viscosity. This allows its use in various applications [3]. Gum Arabic was evaluated for acceptable daily intake for man by the Joint FAO/WHO Expert Committee on Food Additives since 1969 [5]; however, Sudanese people in Western Sudan had been using it for long time without limitations. American women made additional positive changes to the women s rights movement when they gained the right to vote in 1920. Since these beginnings, women have continued to push for change. Adam Duritz, the lead singer and lyricist for Counting Crows, demonstrates Lorber s theory by expressing his view of masculinity throughout his songs. Mr. Jones, Anna Begins, and Insignificant are all examples of Duritz s perpetuation of gender. These songs, as well as others by Counting Crows, are unique in that they do not portray the contempory American view of masculinity. The gender messages of Counting Crows are not that of the old, isolated, unemotional male. Through the music of Counting Crows, singer and songwriter Adam Duritz breaks the Boy Code described by William Pollack in his book Real Boys and demonstrates his struggles with the current societal view that masculinity means being unemotional and unattached. Traditional American masculinity focuses on a few key concepts. Males are supposed to remain stoic and hide emotions, they are tough, they do not open up or show feelings, and they are not girl like or feminine in any way (Oransky and Marecek). In a study of masculinity in male friendship and peer groups, Oransky and Marecek found that boys feel that acting stoic, tough, and emotionally invulnerable was necessary for being regarded manly by their peers. Shakespeare s Use Of Metatheatre In Hamlet Metatheatricality in William Shakespeare s Hamlet There play within a play is a dramatic device used by Shakespeare to explore the human psyche s ability to manoeuvre and manipulate by staging performances . Shakespeare premises the entire drama upon the ghost s revelation of the happenings of the murder and Hamlet engages in a facade in order to grapple with this reality. The overt presence of metatheatre especially with the enacting of The Murder of Gonzago and in Hamlet s feigning of lunacy, endeavours to reason with and validate Hamlet s psychological ongoings but does so with underlying irony. More importantly, Proser argues that Hamlet s barrage of incoherencies (transparent to us, opaque to them) acts as a smoke screen for his own soliloquized plot hatching ( Proser 340 ). In a sense, the artifice of madness can assist as a deceptive tool while Hamlet struggles internally to resolve the moral quandary of vengeance and seeks to confirm the truth behind the King s murder. Most are familiar with the burning of fossil fuels (coal, oil, and gas) as a major contributor to the overall C02, although, just as equally important is that of deforestation. It was realized that conversions of land use, primarily deforestation in the tropics, induce substantial terrestrial carbon losses to the atmosphere, approximately 1.6 billion tons annually (Broadmeadow, Freer Smith, amp; J. Lynch, 2007). While the cause of deforestation varies in different regions, the key contributors are cutting down tree to open up more land for agriculture, urban sprawl (Turk amp; Bensel, 2011). Forests work like filters to remove CO2 from the air and store it in the trees. When the trees are felled or burned, huge amounts of CO2 are released into the atmosphere at a rapid pace. Urban Sprawl, a result of deforestation releases significant amounts of green house gases such as CO2. Not only do you have carbon dioxide being release from burning or cutting of forests, it is coupled by urban sprawl. Coaches play a large role in how a kid views and plays a sport. It all depends in what type of coach they are, they could be a good and positive coach for the child or they could be a bad coach which is a huge negative towards the children. For example, a good coach would keep his/her voice low after a mistake made by a player and tell him/her what they did wrong. A bad coach on the other hand would stand up and yell at the kids singling him/her out and telling that player they suck. Kids could quit a sport they ve loved forever because of how their coaches handle them and the game. Coaching happens all over the world and for all sports and at any age. With coaching being everywhere there will be bad coaches. One instance was when coach Raul Aragon got frustrated with an umpire at a baseball game and was thrown out. The Lavender Scare The lavender scare, as coined and explained by David Johnson, refers to the period of time during the 1950 s when a massive witch hunt that targeted homosexual government employees was thriving in America s social system. Johnson calls it the lavender scare in order to draw parallels with Joseph McCarthy s Red Scare, which happened at the same time, and to echo the common association during the 1950s with gay men and what was commonly considered an effeminate color (Johnson 2004). Friedman also writes about the lavender scare, citing Joseph McCarthy as the main proponent of this political and social movement. During the scare, Friedman argues, McCarthy set the homophobic precedent that millions of Americans would adhere to in the following decades (Friedman 2005). During the lavender scare, Gregory Lewis and Louise Robbins detail how the attitudes of homophobia created harmful legislation that led to the mass firings of thousands of government employees (Lewis 1997; Lewis 2001; Robbins 1994). Dennis Altman and Ian Lekus both argued that the lavender scare caused widespread homophobia throughout the government that then transferred to the general population (Altman 1998; Lekus 2006). Love and relationships in modern society means a strong positive emotion of regard and affection. In my views, it is an intense affectionate concern or an intense sexual desire for another person. It is a term of endearment and a strong fondness or enthusiasm for something. A stereotypical view of contemporary love exists, which is based principally on gender, social class and race. In Love Actually, Huge Grant, who is the prime minister, falls in love with his secretary; Martine McCutcheon. This contrasts with the stereotype regarding social background, as Huge Grant is of a much higher status than Martine McCutcheon in the film. The title of the film automatically reveals various types of love, with the emphasis on actually. I think this suggests that the views of love and relationships portrayed in the film are the views of contemporary love. In the title of the film, Love Actually, the word Love is highlighted in bold and is red. Stereotypically, red is the colour of love, which is probably why this colour was used. The opioid is synthesized from morphine, and when entering the brain, heroin is converted back to morphine. Upon entering, the once opioid, now morphine, binds to opioid receptors, specifically in the brainstem. The brainstem is vital for controlling automatic processes vital for life, like blood pressure, arousal, and respiration. These processes are how we continue to live; heroin use and overdose can then lead to death by suppression of these vital life processes, such as suppression of breathing (National Institute on Drug Abuse, 2014). While heroin undoubtedly affects our processes of living, it also interrupts our sensations and perceptions. Users describe the feeling of heroin as a euphoric or rush feeling. This rush reportedly last one to two minutes, where the actual high lasts hours. Other sensations associated with heroin are reduction of anxiety and depression, safe and warm feelings, and pain relief (Hartney, 2014). While heroin affects sensations, it also changes motor functions, such as reaction times. In a study I examined, experimenters tested reaction times in heroin abusers of different genders. In the experiment, researchers formulated two groups, one control and the other heroin dependent currently in a withdrawal period; researchers choose participants specifically on certain guidelines. The one that he worked on the most was his first horseless carriage the quadracycle. It was just a single person vehicle that he built using bicycle parts. Just a frame, 4 bike tires, and a small engine. This invention led to financial support from investors where he made his first company. The Detroit Automobile Company, but it didn t last long because the investors didn t get their money back fast enough. With the company failing he left it to the investors and he then started what we all know as The Ford Motor Company in 1903. The first Ford vehicle was the model A. The process to two or three workers an entire day to build the vehicle with parts that were made from other manufactures. Ford thought that this process was entirely too long. This is when he finally brought the assembly line and mass production into the automobile industry. In 1908 Ford created the Model T, the first affordable vehicle for the working class family, and the first vehicle to be built using mass production and the assembly line. Ford s vehicles took entirely to long from start to finish. In 1913, Ford installs the first moving assembly line for the mass production of an entire automobile. • 46. Flowers For Te An Invaluable Technique Flowers for Tea Chabana, flowers for tea, is an invaluable technique that can be found in the Japanese tea ceremony (Chanoyu). It was derived from the art of flower arranging, Ikebana, and has its techniques rooted in Shintoism and Buddhism. First, the arrangements began as a way of celebrating the seasons in conjunction with life and death that nature exhibits. It is the ephemeral realm found within Buddhism and the celebration of nature which Shinto embodies that brought these arts to their fruition. Also, this form of decoration near or in the tokonoma (alcove) is displayed as a way of indicating the seasons or evoking the meaning of the kakejiku (scroll), as well as, the feeling of wabi. Several varying themes are found throughout chabana in reference to the underlying themes in chanoyu those being shin, gyo, so. These themes are attributed to the formal, semi formal and informal tea gatherings found in bowing, floral arrangements and floral vessels found in the tea ceremony. The development of chabana from ikebana is attributed to the tea master Sen no Rikyu. There are several theories as to the reason why Rikyu brought flowers into the tea ceremony; the first was that his wife placed a beautiful flower in the tokonoma in which a guest admired and the second involved Toyotomi Hideyoshi. According to author Henry Mittwer, Hideyoshi had heard of rumors of Rikyu s garden in which beautiful morning glories grew; when he was invited by Rikyu for morning tea, ... Though nobody used this method for a couple hundred years, if it weren t for Giotto then it could have been much longer before art became more advanced. Florence, Italy had other important features during the Renaissance besides Giotto s artwork. Florence was one of the five very important city states in Italy. • 48. The Importance Of Cultural Diversity Cultural Diversity is the existence of a variety of cultural or ethnic groups within a society. There are many processes of Walt s adaptation to cultural diversity. First, there is the obvious discord between Walt and the young Father of the church. This situation presents cultural differences of identity; specifically, age and religion. This eventually becomes a hindrance in Walt and his Father Janovich s perception of each other. Walt does not think Father Janovich is credible due to his age and his religious culture of Catholicism, therefore, his dedication to his deceased wife is not anchored by any firm foundation. Father Janovich wants to keep the promises he made to Walt s late wife Dorothy, but Walt is not convinced. This difference in cultural identity leads Walt to make numerous offensive remarks to Father Janovich, but young Janovich s faith allows him to exercise patience and longsuffering with Walt. Another aspect of Walt s adaptation to cultural diversity is the language barriers. Walt s culture of offensive language creates a cultural divide within his own family. Though he and his family speak the same language, their inability to communicate inter culturally creates dysfunction, as shown in the scene Unhappy Birthday. Walt s oldest son and his wife presents birthday gifts for Walt, as they believe these are thoughtful and will make Walt s life easier. Entirely out of touch with Walt s goals and values, their gifts and suggestions are dismissed, as well ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
