The Rite of Spring Essay
When one thinks of a ballet they hear soft rhythmic notes and see elegantly dancing ballerinas softly
tip toeing around the stage. This is also what people in early 1900 s expected to see when they planned
to attend a ballet. However, a couple of motivated artists in 1913 literally planned to change the design
of ballet, music and dance forever. On May 29, 1913 a ballet named The Rite of Spring premiered in
Paris, France. The original title as it translates from Russian to French is; Le Sacre du Printemps,
meaning the rite of spring, but the literal translation from Russian to English means Sacred Spring .
The ballet and music were composed by Igor Stravinsky, with the help of Nicholas Roerich, who
proposed the general idea behind the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Unlike traditional ballet The Rite of Spring featured sharply bent arms and legs that focused on
barbarian depictions of life rather than the elegant, graceful representations used in conventional
ballet. The violent dance steps depicted fertility rites, which is what provoked the earliest interruptions
during the ballet. While Nijinsky was creating the dance for the ballet, Roerich was creating the
setting and costumes to accurately portray this sacrificial rite. The use of such primitive pagan images
were something that the people were not accustomed to. It was a topic that the world was not yet
ready to deal with. But the visuals of the ballet were not the only historic part; the music had an even
greater impact. The music was composed by Igor Stravinsky, who considered himself an inventor of
music. He was also known for many controversial works reminiscent of Nijinsky. He created many
works that blasted the whole realm of music into other possibilities, in which it would never return
from. He started his career writing music for other ballets like Firebird and Petrouchka, which were
grand and familiar like traditional ballet, but had a small hint of a more modern tone. It was not until
The Rite of Spring that Stravinsky s work was truly inspirational. This work tested the future of the
20th century classical music, and in many ways it paved the path to a modernized view. There are still
many who do not understand how he

Market Size and Beauty Health Service
MARKET SIZE OF BEAUTY AND HEALTHCARE SERVICES
Market size of beauty and healthcare industry means the total dollar amount of potential sales to all
customers within this industry. The number of buyers and sellers in this particular market is especially
important for companies that wish to launch a new product or service, since small markets are less
likely to be able to support a high volume of goods. Large markets could bring in more competition.
The Singaporean market for health and beauty products is growing phenomenally in recent years. A
blooming market Singaporeans are living truths of this, paying more for long life and good looks than

was presented to more than 60,000 women.

Many people are spending more money on natural health and beauty products. We all want to have
long and healthy lives, but we also want to look the best we possibly can while living those lives; and
it cannot be denied that commercial products costs big bucks. Towards this end, companies have
developed thousands of natural health and beauty products, in addition to the ones already on the
market.
In an online survey of 4,000 consumers, 63% said they had done internet research for health and
beauty products. (Prospectiv, 2007) Over 7,000 female panelists were surveyed by MR Pro about
expenditure of beauty and health products. The panelists, from the U.S., ranged in age from Under 18
to 55 and Over. Although responses varied slightly by question, age break down of respondents was
roughly as follows: 1% under 18; 20% aged 18 29; 28% aged 30 39; 44% aged 40 54; and 11% aged
55+.

Html Coding And The World Wide Web
HTML Coding
HTML coding is used broadly on the world wide web. Without coding on the internet, users the codes
for a given website and produce what we see on our screens. This form of coding is what makes web
browsing possible; the code writing system was invented by a man named Tim Berners Lee (the same
man who gives these codes an address on the internet) , a man who has been widely awarded and
praised for his work on the internet. Initially, HTML coding is what makes web browsing on any web
browser possible. Basically what web browsers do is that they read certain codes or code languages.
HTML or Hypertext Markup Language is one of the coding languages that web browsers read. The
web browsers read and translate these codes, displaying and producing what we see on our computer
monitors or any internet capable device. Hypertext Markup Language was invented by a man by the
name of Tim Berners Lee, he made this so he could use his coding language and have it be displayed
on the World Wide Web. These coding languages were made to be used on the World Wide Web to
provide data and information to scientist all around the world as well as to let these scientist
collaborate together to pull information together. Although the word wide web had already been
invented Sir Tim had to find a way to connect this information all together. When Sir Tim sent in

Reflection, Activities of Daily Living
For the purpose of this essay the Kolb s model of reflection (1984) has been chosen as a guide to
reflect on administration of oxygen therapy. Administration of oxygen therapy is the aspect of nursing
practice that I selected as a result of completing the case based learning scenarios. I will explain how
the administration of oxygen therapy can have an effect on a patient s activities of daily living (ADL),
including some of the psychological and ethical issues. Breathing is the selected ADL that has been
chosen to demonstrate how I implemented the aspect of nursing practice on clinical placement.
Changes have been made to protect the anonymity and maintain confidentiality of the patient and
clinical placement, in accordance with the NMC ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Before my recent clinical placement I had some awareness on how specific illnesses such as CODP
could affect a patients breathing, hence impairing quality of life, however I did not realise the impact
shortness of breath could have on a patients emotional and physical state. If a patient is struggling
physically to cope it is quite easy for a healthcare professional to observe and as a result provide the
correct level of support, however a patient s psychological condition can not be as easily observed, so
it is up to the healthcare professional to ask and monitor any recognised changes in a patient s
behaviour (DH 2010b). I was aware of the positive effects that oxygen therapy could have on a patient
s health and wellbeing, but lacked the necessary knowledge regarding the negative effects of
administering an inaccurate amount of oxygen to a patient (NMC 2006e). Oxygen is potentially a
dangerous drug if administered inaccurately, for example over
oxygenation of a patient suffering from COPD can result in patient fatality (National Patient Safety
Agency 2009a). My mentor briefly explained how some patient s respiratory drive depends on their
level of hypoxia rather than the normal dependency on hypercapnia and this is why patient s with
COPD should be given oxygen with caution as it can

Essay on Milton Hershey
Milton Hershey was not the type of person that anyone would have viewed as a leader, or shrewd
businessman. Being born into a rather poor lower class family, he was not very well educated. The one
thing that we do know for sure though, is that leaders are not born, they are made. This is exactly the
case of Milton Hershey, and because of his undying determination to succeed, he became one of the
greatest success stories of all time.
What factors or events made the person a leader?
For Milton Hershey, he was the type of person that not a lot of people expected a whole lot out of. He
was your typical small town boy, and although he had very little growing up, he learned to be happy
with what he was given. Although Milton Hershey, did grow ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

It cost him $150 to get it up and running, and he ended up failing miserably in it. After this, he tried
starting another candy business in New York City. This as well failed. It wasn t until Milton started
dealing with caramel, that he really started seeing results back on his business that he was getting from
customers. The thing that really eneded up striking gold for him as we all know was the chocolate
industry. He took a big risk in getting into too, considering that he sold his fairly profitable caramel
candy store to pursue finding a way to distribute chocolate cheaper and easier to lots of lower class
people.
What was their leadership based on?
Milton Hershey s leadership style was based on never giving up, and his determination to succeed at
all costs. He also wasn t afraid to take his dreams seriously. He learned not to give up from his father,
who had failed in many things, but was always willing to try something new. This is what ultimately
led Milton to fail in business five different times before he finally succeeded in the candy industry.
What specific acts impacted their people?
Milton Hershey affected the people that he worked with in a big way, in the sense that he wasn t
afraid, or too good to get down on their level and help them out. Although, this obviously became
more impossible as his business got bigger, he still did everything he could to help out his

Rene Descartes And John Locke
Rene Descartes and John Locke each produced pieces of philosophical responses to the questions
posed in epistemology which resulted with very different answers. Descartes relied on God and the
mind as the only reliable and trustworthy sources to prove the existence of things other than ourselves.
Locke, in contrast, made arguments for the existence of things in the external world via our innate
ability to recognize and process sensations that are derived from subjects that exist in the material
world. Locke overcomes Descartes hyperbolic skepticism by giving evidence of the validity of the
senses through unique perception and countering the dream argument with a more practical approach
to the knowledge of our existence. John Locke, in An Essay Concerning Understanding, establishes
the theory of tabula rasa (blank slate) as a picture for the mind. According to this theory, the mind can
be supposed as white paper, void of all characters and ready to be filled with ideas that are realized
through experience. Locke argues that humans are born with inherent senses, but not inherent
knowledge For innate knowledge to exist, Locke contends that such knowledge would have to be
universally agreed upon. However, even ideas have the greatest general support for being innate, such
as Whatsoever is, is and It is impossible for the same thing to be and not to be , go without
apprehension by children and the mentally disabled. Second, and quite similarly, people of different

Nursing Organizational Structure Paper
Organizational Structure Organizational structure can be defined as a social unit of people,
systemically structured and managed to meet a need or pursue collective goals on a continuing basis.
My organizational structure consists of management that determines the positions and delegate roles,
responsibility to carry out defined task. On a daily basis, there is a charge nurse that supervises the
entire unit and makes adequate assignments for each member of the nursing staff. The charge nurse
can also be used as a resource in any event that is questionable to the nurse, patient and the family
members. Our organizational structures promote teamwork, improve communication and provide
quality care. Organizational Culture in Intensive Care Unit Organizational culture refers to the beliefs
and values that have existed in an organization for a long time, and to the beliefs of the staff and the
foreseen value of their work that will influence their attitudes and behavior. Organizational culture is

Patents And Copyright Infringement Trials
Introduction
Intellectual properties are anything created by the mind. This includes inventions, designs, books, etc.
Many people protect their intellectual properties through copyrighting it. Copyrights are patents and
trademarks, and it gives the owners the right to claim their work and protect it from theft ( Intellectial
Property Help Desk). Use or reference of famous work is permitted whenn it is transformative or for
limited use. This work is considered fair use and many copyright infringement trials have been
dismissed because of the fair use doctrine. Copyrights are an important tool to ensure that copyrighted
work that is referenced mentions the original inventor, rather than stealing their idea or invention, and
claiming it as their own.

Trademarks:
Trademark is a sign, design, or expression used in order to set a usiness apart. Trademarks serves as
two primary functions. The first is to provide rotection to manufacturers and traders by not allowing
unfair cometition. It also protects customers from impersonations. Trademarks today are considered
property, meaning that trademarks can be sold, inherited, or even leased as long as it is not the intent
to fool the customer.

Norse Myths In Ragnarok
In the book Ragnarok, the thin girl goes through certain events such as the war and her father s
undecided fate, which leads her to escape into the Norse Myths. I think reading the story of Asgard
and the Gods is her antidote to eternal boredom. An antidote is a cure for poison. The poison is the
war and the worry about her father and the cure is the Norse Myths. In my opinion, the thin child
feared God more than she feared death The thin child, thinking of playground cruelty and the Blitz,
liked to glance at the idea that Gods were bad, that things were bad (Pg 123). The Gods she knew
from the stories she read were bad and that was influencing her beliefs. This story reminds be of the
Bible story of Adam and Eve. Looking at the story from another perspective, did the Garden of Eden
become boring and as a result Adam and Eve ate the apple. The apple resembles the Norse Myths
because the apple is the antidote in the Garden of Eden. Adam and Eve did not know the world prior
to eating the apple and neither did the thin child. The stories she read opened up her imagination and

She says in the book dailiness defeated her (Pg 152). She witnessed how her mother s life was without
her father and the boredom her mother suffered with. An antidote works by tackling the illness at
hand. The so called illness is the fear of eternal boredom that the thin child suffers with. In my
opinion, the way this works is by keeping your mind busy and occupied. By throwing herself into the
Norse Myths she is keeping her mind occupied from the events happening around her. When the thin
child s, father finally returned she realized that her mother was as she called her a prisoner (pg 152).
Although, her father was back and they we living in their old home in dailiness ; the thin child

Names In To Kill A Mockingbird
The third most prominent theme in To Kill a Mockingbird is names and their power and significance.
Multiple times throughout the book, we see that the names being used have a big impact on the county
s social pyramid. For example, when Atticus is cross examining Mayella Ewell, he respectfully calls
her things like Miss and Ma am. However, Mayella is offended by the names, and yells, Long s he
keeps on callin me ma am an sayin Miss Mayella. I don t hafta take his sass, I ain t called upon to take
it (Lee 243). Mayella isn t used to being respected like that. When in a professional setting like a
courtroom, the respect and maturity being shown towards her catches her off guard, and she mistakes
it for disrespect. We see another example of the significance and power of names in To Kill a
Mockingbird when Scout, Jem, and Atticus visit family for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Scout s cousin, Francis, continues to make fun of Atticus, and she keeps calm, until he starts calling
him names. Francis says, He s nothin but a nigger lover! (Lee 110). Scout has always been a tomboy,
and she s never been afraid to fight. It is clear throughout the book that she can remain calm, but as
soon as people start calling her or her family names, things change. This shows the power and
significance of names because Scout finds them more offensive than anything else. A third example of
how names are powerful and significant comes from the article Why I Joined the Klan by Studs
Terkel. The article is an interview with a former Ku Klux Klan member, who explain what lead him to
join the Klan in the first place. He states, Boy, that was an opportunity I really looked forward to! To
be part of somethin (Terkel 1). He explains that he, like many other Klansman, joined the KKK

Many different techniques exist to intrinsically motivate employees(Walker, 2008). Some include: job
enlargement, job rotation, and job enrichment. As noted earlier, job satisfaction among employees is
important for a company to attain, thus, the use of techniques that boost intrinsic motivation is key.
However, the employees were happy because they were paid well. The flip side to that is those older
employees are closes to retirement, and have no intrinsic motivation. They are not motivated in
sharing to new ways in doing things for the organization, such as saving money and hiring new
clientele as suggested by Hubres in her memo. Therefore, it has been suggested by Willis that James

without any immediate replacement for retirees. This would be a start in saving money for the

this a positive change? Yes, there has been a strategic plan and decision making process at Blue Sky

Social media, websites with content not related to what you re working on, or (trivial) phone

2. Use time spent commuting to learn about skills relevant to your side hustle
What do you do with the time you spend on the road going to and from work?
You could learn new things about your side business while on the go. Instead of moaning about how
terrible the traffic is or scrolling through Facebook posts about gossip, why not read up articles or
watch videos about new trends in your chosen personal venture? You ll be surprised how much you
learn as the knowledge you gather builds up over time.
3. Adjust routines
Of course, you ll have to reorganize your week if you re going to do extra hustling. If you ve been
cooking every evening after work, you might have to do that on weekends only. Just make the food on
Saturday and/or Sunday, and spread out consumption over the following week. This should free up
extra time during the working week that you could fit your side project into.
You might also have to wake up earlier than you re used to, in order to get some work done before
heading out for the 9 5 (this depends on what your side hustle involves). In this case, you may take the
evenings off if you can t afford to smuggle in more work after your main job. The advice is usually

Thinking, Fast And Slow By Daniel Kahneman
This distinctive book called, Thinking, Fast and Slow by Daniel Kahneman, is one of very few
exquisite readings I ve completed so far. Daniel Kahneman is a psychologist in Princeton University,
and due to his research, he won a Nobel Prize in 2002 in economics. In the beginning of his book, he
speaks of our cognitive System 1 and System 2 ways of thinking. System 1 generates feelings,
impressions, and memory. It is very instinctive, automatic, and is considered quick thinking. System 2
on the other hand, is alert during complex problem solving, while dealing with facts and knowledge,
and is attentive while working with difficult calculations. For example, a problem such as 24 x 13, this
takes more time and knowledge to figure out (System 2), rather then recognizing an emotion from face
expressions (System 1). When System 1 is strained, your System 2 steps in to help you process
through that specific instant. Now aside from the psychological portion of this book, Mr. Kahneman
divulges about a consolidated economic analysis with elemental intuitions from the psychological
perspective; such as, luck and skill, overconfidence, risks in the stock market, factors of success and
the decision making process. This book is overall concluded with the understanding of behavioral
economics, which is the social and cognitive components on economic decisions that are defined by
individuals and have consequences that reflect from making those decisions and taking those risks.

Alós et al tested, exporting fish from no take marine protected areas (MPA) will affect the catchability
of overall fish populations. MPAs have proven to be essential tools in conserving marine fisheries.
They lead to necessary ecological effects on the surrounding area while protecting the habitat and

The three most frequently captured species in the recreational fishery were Diplodus annularis
(Sparidae), Coris julis (Labridae), and Serranus scriba (Serranudae). These were the focus of the video
recordings. The findings propose that recreational angling (as acted by the fisheries) reduces the total
population of S. Scriba. The history of angling S. Scriba has changed this species habits and
eventually increasing the need for reproduction, in turn decreased the size of the adult body. The
natural stressor of evolution has actually resulted in a shift from growth to keeping the species alive
due to the abundance of angling (requests).
This MPA is composed of two areas: (1) The Sanctuary, this is a fully protected area that has a strict
ban on any fishing, (2) Buffer; this buffer area is where small scale fisheries may operate along with
recreational fishing (less regulation). 54 random sites were produced within and around the no take

Eulogy For Grandmother
Jesse sat cross legged on the floor in Nana s library with a perplexed frown as she studied the book on
her lap. She was only sixteen, but the circumstances of her life had made her wiser than her years. She
had been orphaned at the age of two and her grandmother, whom she adored and affectionately called
Nana, was the one person in her life she could always count on. Well, that was until just a couple of
months ago when Nana had died after a long struggle with cancer. She had been seventy six, but Jesse
had thought of her as the youngest, old person she knew. While living with Nana, she had grown into a
lanky teenager with long, straight black hair, usually pulled back into a ponytail, and eyes so
piercingly blue that she could make ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Her grief had eventually passed and was replaced by a sense of peace and appreciation for her
grandmother s love. She knew it was her grandmother s influence that guided her each day, drove her
to excel in college, and helped her make those difficult, life altering decisions. She had graduated from
college with a doctorate in psychology. It had always been her plan to move back home and into her
grandmother s house after college. However, she had been offered an incredible opportunity in New
York that she just couldn t refuse. She knew her grandmother would be beaming with approval.
Funding had been made available for building and organizing a dozen women s shelters in New York.
The terms of the anonymous benefactor s offer had been very specific: The position is only available
to an individual qualified to provide professional counseling, who has the necessary skills to supervise
construction, and a desire to manage the operation of the shelters once completed. The unspoken, but
clearly necessary condition, was that they had to be willing to live in New York, the intended location
of all the shelters. As if by divine intervention, a developer had made a very reasonable offer for her

Political Development Of The Spanish Colonies
Lower down on the map of North America were the Spanish colonies. After Columbus discovered the
New World, the Spanish Crown began governing the area. With the arrival of various explorers and
colonizers like Columbus, there were rivalries for the land within the South. By the middle of the
1500s, Spain organized themselves politically and economically in the Southwest and the Spanish
gained a tight hold on their land of New World. Until the 19th century, Spanish America was divided
into viceroyalties and governed through a Council of the Indies in Spain. The viceroys were not just
governors, they were the king of Spain s representative and therefore, were treated as royalty. This
system of under kings was developed by the Holy Roman Emperor Charles V. He also organized
judicial courts of appeal throughout the Spanish lands with appointed judges to ensure justice was
dispensed throughout the New World, the King s rights were upheld, and that taxes were collected.
There was a vast military presence in the Spanish colonies to protect them intrusion by other world
powers (Politics in Spanish Colonization).
In all New World towns, there were powerful and rich people who made major decisions even though
they were far away from the crown in Spain. However, after the development of the New Spanish
Colonies, a divide developed between the Spanish born Peninsulares and the Spanish, American born

The Criminalization Of Hiv Transmission
The criminalization of HIV transmission has sparked many debates on how the law and health policy
are related and how they both have a profound impact on health. HIV criminalization was a policy
meant to incapacitate and rehabilitate those transmitting the disease to others while the retribution of
the act would deter others from engaging in transmission . However, the harsh realities of
criminalization have caused many to reconsider its original purpose. The criminalization of HIV
transmission in Canada has negative implications on health. This paper will argue that by
criminalizing HIV transmission there is a greater chance of individuals not getting tested, that living
with HIV can be extremely difficult within the criminal justice system, and that criminalization does
not address broader, structural issues that cause HIV transmission.
The history of HIV criminalization in Canada is rooted in the 1998 case of the Supreme Court of
Canada (R. v. Cuerrier), where the court found that an individual could be convicted of sexual assault
if they do not disclose their HIV status to their sexual partner . Since then, over 70 people in Canada
have been criminally charged for not disclosing their HIV status to their sexual partner . In 2012, the
criminalization of HIV transmission reached a new level of overreach by finding that an individual
could be convicted for sexual assault in a situation where there is a realistic possibility of HIV
transmission. Some have called into

Indentured Servants vs. Black Slaves
The Stepping Stones of Labor in America Throughout time, in all places, there is an upper class and a
lower class. During the 16th to 19th century in America people came from all over Europe. People
from Europe found America as an escape from their life; a new start. Some could not afford to take a
boat ride across the Atlantic with their whole family. Because of this, some people became indentured
servants. Later on, the South revolutionized America by bringing in black slaves and getting rid of
indentured servitude. Slaves generated the economy for the South, but was also the main cause of the
civil war. Both slaves and indentured servants were treated badly, however, black slaves were much
more expensive and had to work for life, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After the indentured servants had did their time depending how long their contract was, they were
given money, land and often a sustainable job. Black slaves were permanently slaves and didn t have
as much hope as indentured servants because they had no family and they knew that they were stuck
living their life the way it was forever. Also, indentured servants often had learned some economically
valuable skills, so when their contract was up, they were more prepared for the outside world, while
black slaves were not usually and were not let out. Indentured servants were slaves and dehumanized
during their time of their contract, but often had a better life because of what they learned from being
a servant and their reward. While both slaves and servants typically did similar work, slaves were
bought and put into work whereas indentured servants signed a contract and the owner didn t give up
any money value until the end of contract. During this time the cost of a black slave was about
130,000 dollars. This was a lot higher because this is when there was no more indentured servitude
and the South s economy relied on black slaves for cotton. Paying 130,000 dollars for a slave seems
like a bad investment, but they got the slaves for life and the slaves could reproduce and have more
slaves in the future. The biggest reason why black slaves were a better

It is expected that the ruling will operate to permit disabled individuals expanded opportunities within
healthcare fields. This ruling is important to employers, especially those in healthcare, who must be
aware of their duties to provide reasonable accommodations to employees where there is no
significant safety risk. That a disabled individual is working within the healthcare industry is
insufficient in and of itself to demonstrate a safety risk, as are obscure and unlikely risks that may be

My First Intercultural Awareness Activity Essay
For my first Intercultural Awareness activity, I chose to listen to the BBC World Report every day for
a week. I listened to BBC from September 7 through September 13. I listened to an hour report each
day, culminating in 7 hours of intercultural awareness. Because of the lengths of the podcasts, I chose
to focus on the main issue that was presented in the podcast.
I listened to the 1st podcast September 7, 2016. It was on an issue that has risen in Ukraine between
two orthodox churches, the Ukrainian Orthodox church of Moscow and the Ukrainian Orthodox
church of Kiev. In a small village in Ukraine called Pticha had the members of the UOM barricade
themselves into their church, forcing those who were associated with the UOK to worship off of the
property. The conflict was supposedly caused because of the political conflict that is happening
between Russia and Ukraine. The leaders of the Ukrainian church of Moscow believes that the
members of the church of Kiev are being too political. They say this because the members of the
church of Kiev are saying that those involved in the Moscow church are not true patriots of Ukraine.
The reporter asked one of the leaders of the church of Moscow if Russia was pressuring them in any
of their actions against the church of Kiev. The leader said that Ukrainian orthodox church is
autonomous. He stated that [The Ukrainian Orthodox church of Moscow] is absolutely independent in

My Education
I am grateful to my parents because they made me understand that my education is the most valuable
thing I could ever have. My parents sacrificed many things for us to have a better life, and I won t let
them down. I was born in Zinapecuaro Michoacan, when I was seven years old I came to Salinas
California with all my family. I remembered when I was a child my dad used to come every year to
work on the fields. Then, he would go back each year for a short period of time, and I was waiting for
him with happiness. As I grew up I realized that my parents wanted me to have a better life which they
never had. Because my parents worked all day to bring food to our table, my brothers and I didn t
spent too much time with them like we would like. My childhood was not easy at all, but I had the
most amazing parents. Also, having their love made the happiest girl in world because that was
enough for me.
When I was a little girl I dreamed to be a doctor, but I changed my mind. Since high school I wanted
to join the military, but I could not because of my weight. So, in my second semester during college; I
decided to join the army to have a professional career and at the same time took a break for college.
For all my experiences that have happened to me; I can only say that joining the Army was the best
decision I have taken. In addition, I learned to live by the army values which are loyalty, duty, respect,

God s Grandeur, By Gerard Manly Hopkins
God s Grandeur by Gerard Manly Hopkins
As a Jesuit priest, Gerard Manly Hopkins devoted many years of his life to spiritual study and
instruction. As seen in his poem God s Grandeur , Hopkins translated his intense spirituality into
poems that explore the relationship between humans and the natural world as an expression of God s
divinity. In the poem, Hopkins presents the Victorian fixation on progress and change not as an
improvement, but rather as a regression from a constructive communion with God s glory as found in
the natural world. Despite Hopkins negative view on the impact of man s progression, he remains
confident and appreciative of the protective power of God and the inexhaustibility of nature as further

Here, Hopkins establishes a connection between God s grandeur and light, which he continues in the
second stanza with his description of the sunrise brought forth by the possibility of rebirth as well as
continuity in nature. Although the sun sets in the black west, morning, at the brown brink eastward,
springs (12). The sun, a source of energy so far superior to any source to any man made source,
becomes an expression of God s care for the Earth, offering the possibility of freshness and growth
despite all of man s abuses.
Hopkins outlines some of these abuses in the first stanza, in which a rather bleak picture of man s
interaction with the earth contrasts to the brightness of God s light. During the Victorian Age of mass
production, people gradually drew away from small rural farms into the dismal urban world of
factories and mills. Hopkins laments that such so called progress has drawn man away from the land.
The sun, God s ultimate source of light and life, shines upon soil that Is bare now, abandoned for the
urban life (8). That Hopkins chooses to say now in reference to the barren earth suggests a dramatic
and negative change from the past. While not condemning the contemporary changes, Hopkins regrets
that man s progress has so negatively impacted both the natural world and man himself.
In defining how man s progress leads him away from the God s grandeur, Hopkins lowers the

Roman And Greek Mythology
Throughout time beliefs have changed, advanced, and occasionally begun. This is very apparent with
Roman and Greek Mythology. Roman Mythology and Greek Mythology have a pretty similar lineage.
However, after the Greeks left their ideals in Italy, the Roman Empire worked a way to create their
own identity branching off from the Greeks that came before them. Roman authors did this through
identifying their own Roman god s with those of the Greeks. As well they reinterpreted stories about
Greek god s into stories about their own Roman deities. This laid the foundation for Rome to cultivate
its own mythology and as well its own religious beliefs. This is most apparent through the stories
leading up to and including the founding of Rome. It all starts with the Aeneid by Virgil.
The Aeneid is a Latin epic poem written by Roman poet Virgil between 29 and 19 BC. The Aeneid
tells the story of Aeneas. Aeneas was a demigod, born of god Aphrodite (Venus) and mortal royal
member of Troy, Anchises. One day Aphrodite had seen Anchises and ... Show more content on

An example of this are the Vestal Virgins. Vestal Virgins held a great deal of power within the Roman
religious structure. The virgins would serve a thirty year term of maintaining the sacred fire that
burned in the Temple of Vesta. The number of Vestal Virgins varied first starting at two, then
eventually expanding to six. Unsurprising at the time, a majority of Virgins kept their oaths of
celibacy, as the punishment for betrayal was to be buried alive in a tomb of concrete. Also, the man
with whom the Virgin slept with would be buried alive with them. Being a Vestal Virgin was the most
important job a woman could get in Rome as women were not an important part of life in the Roman
culture. This differed from much of the Ancient Greek society as most of the holy women or
priestesses were promiscuous and had many partners. This was done through sacred

Strengths And Weaknesses Of Confucianism
For all the strengths of Confucian attitudes toward nature, there are also weaknesses that must be

poor environmental management over time, despite Confucian philosophy emphasizing unity between

Argumentative Essay On Learning And Learning
Children can learn about the world through reading material, whether that instruction is intended or
not by the author, and whether the instruction is overt or relatively hidden. From cautionary, moral
tales of old to modern problem novels and books for children about life issues, authors show and
explain the world to the next generation. Matilda grew up in a family, where they did not value
education or learning. While her parents went to work, she stayed home and was expected to watch
TV or do nothing. Instead, she walked to the library and read books everyday. She learned many
things from reading and begged her father if she could attend school like other kids her age. She read
about history, law and many other educational topics that she could be learning if she was in school.
Children are sponges for information around them. Children gather this information from a variety of
sources, such as family, peers, and experience. In Matilda s case, she learned the most from literature
and Miss Honey. Her parents did not encourage learning and her headmaster was cruel to all the

Void And The Void
Architecture performs the new formulation and reproduction by formatting actions in order to
accommodate to the existing environment. The basic practice of the architectural space is to reform
the object of architecture on the site. People have built a natural environment for themselves by
starting the first shelter since they are in the world. The built environment that undergoes continually a
transformation and change has evolved to be closely associated with people and the lives of people. At
this point, the relationship between architectural and urban voids came into prominence. So, what is
the void? How is it designed? And how can the void contact its inside and outside? or What is the
potential of voids?
Many theorists, architects, and philosophers have asked these questions for over two thousand year
but answers are still uncertain. As a general thing, the void is about absence instead of existence, or
about nothing instead of a thing. However, it may be said that void as emptiness is defined with a
mutual understanding. Void as a conceptual topic could provide the inspiration for art and architecture.
The existence of voids could reach to individuals and society thanks to art and architectural works.

sense. As a noun, void refers both the physical emptiness and the deficiency of something. As an

A Study On Cancer And Cancer
Introduction
Cancer is defined as diseases that have abnormal growth of cells, and they can invade to other tissues
and affect other part of the body ( http://www.who.int/mediacentre/factsheets/fs297/en/). The genes in
a cancer cell that are used to regulate cell growth and differentiation have been mutated, and lead to
uncontrollable cell growth. After a period of growth, the proliferation of those abnormal cells form a
tumor (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cancer#cite_note WHO2014 1).
Currently, over one hundred difference cancers exist (https://www.cancer.gov/about
cancer/understanding/what is cancer#types of cancer). A majority of them are caused by
environmental factors, while small number of them is cause by inherited genetics. Typical
environmental factors are tobacco smoking, diet and obesity, infection, radiation, etc.
(https://www.cancer.gov/about cancer/understanding/what is cancer#types of cancer).
People have been working for years to find new ways and modify traditional methods of curing
cancer. Although people have been making great progress during these years, there are still great
barriers that make cancer one of the top killers in the U.S. One out of four deaths in the United States
is cause by cancer. Today, there are 1.6 million cancer cases in the United States and it is expected to
increase 45% by 2030 (CNN).

Collaborative Family Law
If you are concerned about the adversarial nature of divorce, you are not alone. Taking your divorce to
court can be emotionally hard for you and your family and can put a strain on your financial resources.
Fortunately, there is a way to execute your divorce without posing you and your spouse against each
other. Collaborative family law is a form of alternative dispute resolution. A collaborative dissolution
is one where two spouses work together with the help of a team of divorce professionals to form a
settlement agreement. It allows the spouses to by pass the litigation process by providing the
professional guidance needed to settle their divorce in a fair and respectful manner.
What Are the Benefits of a Collaborative Dissolution?
Working with, rather than against, your spouse has several advantages. It allows you and your spouse
to be in command of your divorce, as opposed to allowing the judge to make the important decisions
for you. A collaborative dissolution can also help you and your spouse develop and maintain the
ability to respectfully communicate after the divorce. Respectful communication is helpful if you have
minor children still in your care. Honesty and full disclosure are essential to the process, making it
easier for both spouses to reach an agreement based off of the important facts. The team approach
ensures all those ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Consult with an experienced Florida family law attorney if you want to discuss collaborative
dissolution. The collaborative law approach may not be right for everyone, but the process can be a
positive one for those who desire a cooperative and amicable

  • 2. The Rite of Spring Essay When one thinks of a ballet they hear soft rhythmic notes and see elegantly dancing ballerinas softly tip toeing around the stage. This is also what people in early 1900 s expected to see when they planned to attend a ballet. However, a couple of motivated artists in 1913 literally planned to change the design of ballet, music and dance forever. On May 29, 1913 a ballet named The Rite of Spring premiered in Paris, France. The original title as it translates from Russian to French is; Le Sacre du Printemps, meaning the rite of spring, but the literal translation from Russian to English means Sacred Spring . The ballet and music were composed by Igor Stravinsky, with the help of Nicholas Roerich, who proposed the general idea behind the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Unlike traditional ballet The Rite of Spring featured sharply bent arms and legs that focused on barbarian depictions of life rather than the elegant, graceful representations used in conventional ballet. The violent dance steps depicted fertility rites, which is what provoked the earliest interruptions during the ballet. While Nijinsky was creating the dance for the ballet, Roerich was creating the setting and costumes to accurately portray this sacrificial rite. The use of such primitive pagan images were something that the people were not accustomed to. It was a topic that the world was not yet ready to deal with. But the visuals of the ballet were not the only historic part; the music had an even greater impact. The music was composed by Igor Stravinsky, who considered himself an inventor of music. He was also known for many controversial works reminiscent of Nijinsky. He created many works that blasted the whole realm of music into other possibilities, in which it would never return from. He started his career writing music for other ballets like Firebird and Petrouchka, which were grand and familiar like traditional ballet, but had a small hint of a more modern tone. It was not until The Rite of Spring that Stravinsky s work was truly inspirational. This work tested the future of the 20th century classical music, and in many ways it paved the path to a modernized view. There are still many who do not understand how he ... Market Size and Beauty Health Service MARKET SIZE OF BEAUTY AND HEALTHCARE SERVICES Market size of beauty and healthcare industry means the total dollar amount of potential sales to all customers within this industry. The number of buyers and sellers in this particular market is especially important for companies that wish to launch a new product or service, since small markets are less likely to be able to support a high volume of goods. Large markets could bring in more competition. The Singaporean market for health and beauty products is growing phenomenally in recent years. We all want to have long and healthy lives, but we also want to look the best we possibly can while living those lives; and it cannot be denied that commercial products costs big bucks. Towards this end, companies have developed thousands of natural health and beauty products, in addition to the ones already on the market. Without coding on the internet, users the codes for a given website and produce what we see on our screens. This form of coding is what makes web browsing possible; the code writing system was invented by a man named Tim Berners Lee (the same man who gives these codes an address on the internet) , a man who has been widely awarded and praised for his work on the internet. Administration of oxygen therapy is the aspect of nursing practice that I selected as a result of completing the case based learning scenarios. I will explain how the administration of oxygen therapy can have an effect on a patient s activities of daily living (ADL), including some of the psychological and ethical issues. Breathing is the selected ADL that has been chosen to demonstrate how I implemented the aspect of nursing practice on clinical placement. Changes have been made to protect the anonymity and maintain confidentiality of the patient and clinical placement, in accordance with the NMC ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Before my recent clinical placement I had some awareness on how specific illnesses such as CODP could affect a patients breathing, hence impairing quality of life, however I did not realise the impact shortness of breath could have on a patients emotional and physical state. If a patient is struggling physically to cope it is quite easy for a healthcare professional to observe and as a result provide the correct level of support, however a patient s psychological condition can not be as easily observed, so it is up to the healthcare professional to ask and monitor any recognised changes in a patient s behaviour (DH 2010b). I was aware of the positive effects that oxygen therapy could have on a patient s health and wellbeing, but lacked the necessary knowledge regarding the negative effects of administering an inaccurate amount of oxygen to a patient (NMC 2006e). Oxygen is potentially a dangerous drug if administered inaccurately, for example over oxygenation of a patient suffering from COPD can result in patient fatality (National Patient Safety Agency 2009a). My mentor briefly explained how some patient s respiratory drive depends on their level of hypoxia rather than the normal dependency on hypercapnia and this is why patient s with COPD should be given oxygen with caution as it can ... • 6. Essay on Milton Hershey Milton Hershey was not the type of person that anyone would have viewed as a leader, or shrewd businessman. Being born into a rather poor lower class family, he was not very well educated. The one thing that we do know for sure though, is that leaders are not born, they are made. This is exactly the case of Milton Hershey, and because of his undying determination to succeed, he became one of the greatest success stories of all time. What factors or events made the person a leader? For Milton Hershey, he was the type of person that not a lot of people expected a whole lot out of. The thing that really eneded up striking gold for him as we all know was the chocolate industry. He took a big risk in getting into too, considering that he sold his fairly profitable caramel candy store to pursue finding a way to distribute chocolate cheaper and easier to lots of lower class people. What was their leadership based on? Milton Hershey s leadership style was based on never giving up, and his determination to succeed at all costs. He also wasn t afraid to take his dreams seriously. He learned not to give up from his father, who had failed in many things, but was always willing to try something new. This is what ultimately led Milton to fail in business five different times before he finally succeeded in the candy industry. What specific acts impacted their people? • 7. Rene Descartes And John Locke Rene Descartes and John Locke each produced pieces of philosophical responses to the questions posed in epistemology which resulted with very different answers. Descartes relied on God and the mind as the only reliable and trustworthy sources to prove the existence of things other than ourselves. Locke, in contrast, made arguments for the existence of things in the external world via our innate ability to recognize and process sensations that are derived from subjects that exist in the material world. Locke overcomes Descartes hyperbolic skepticism by giving evidence of the validity of the senses through unique perception and countering the dream argument with a more practical approach to the knowledge of our existence. John Locke, in An Essay Concerning Understanding, establishes the theory of tabula rasa (blank slate) as a picture for the mind. According to this theory, the mind can be supposed as white paper, void of all characters and ready to be filled with ideas that are realized through experience. Locke argues that humans are born with inherent senses, but not inherent knowledge For innate knowledge to exist, Locke contends that such knowledge would have to be universally agreed upon. However, even ideas have the greatest general support for being innate, such as Whatsoever is, is and It is impossible for the same thing to be and not to be , go without apprehension by children and the mentally disabled. I think reading the story of Asgard and the Gods is her antidote to eternal boredom. An antidote is a cure for poison. The poison is the war and the worry about her father and the cure is the Norse Myths. In my opinion, the thin child feared God more than she feared death The thin child, thinking of playground cruelty and the Blitz, liked to glance at the idea that Gods were bad, that things were bad (Pg 123). The Gods she knew from the stories she read were bad and that was influencing her beliefs. This story reminds be of the Bible story of Adam and Eve. Daniel Kahneman is a psychologist in Princeton University, and due to his research, he won a Nobel Prize in 2002 in economics. In the beginning of his book, he speaks of our cognitive System 1 and System 2 ways of thinking. System 1 generates feelings, impressions, and memory. It is very instinctive, automatic, and is considered quick thinking. System 2 on the other hand, is alert during complex problem solving, while dealing with facts and knowledge, and is attentive while working with difficult calculations. For example, a problem such as 24 x 13, this takes more time and knowledge to figure out (System 2), rather then recognizing an emotion from face expressions (System 1). When System 1 is strained, your System 2 steps in to help you process through that specific instant. Now aside from the psychological portion of this book, Mr. Kahneman divulges about a consolidated economic analysis with elemental intuitions from the psychological perspective; such as, luck and skill, overconfidence, risks in the stock market, factors of success and the decision making process. This book is overall concluded with the understanding of behavioral economics, which is the social and cognitive components on economic decisions that are defined by individuals and have consequences that reflect from making those decisions and taking those risks. ... The Criminalization Of Hiv Transmission The criminalization of HIV transmission has sparked many debates on how the law and health policy are related and how they both have a profound impact on health. HIV criminalization was a policy meant to incapacitate and rehabilitate those transmitting the disease to others while the retribution of the act would deter others from engaging in transmission . However, the harsh realities of criminalization have caused many to reconsider its original purpose. The criminalization of HIV transmission in Canada has negative implications on health. This paper will argue that by criminalizing HIV transmission there is a greater chance of individuals not getting tested, that living with HIV can be extremely difficult within the criminal justice system, and that criminalization does not address broader, structural issues that cause HIV transmission. The history of HIV criminalization in Canada is rooted in the 1998 case of the Supreme Court of Canada (R. v. Cuerrier), where the court found that an individual could be convicted of sexual assault if they do not disclose their HIV status to their sexual partner . Since then, over 70 people in Canada have been criminally charged for not disclosing their HIV status to their sexual partner . In a small village in Ukraine called Pticha had the members of the UOM barricade themselves into their church, forcing those who were associated with the UOK to worship off of the property. The conflict was supposedly caused because of the political conflict that is happening between Russia and Ukraine. The leaders of the Ukrainian church of Moscow believes that the members of the church of Kiev are being too political. They say this because the members of the church of Kiev are saying that those involved in the Moscow church are not true patriots of Ukraine. The reporter asked one of the leaders of the church of Moscow if Russia was pressuring them in any of their actions against the church of Kiev. The leader said that Ukrainian orthodox church is autonomous. He stated that [The Ukrainian Orthodox church of Moscow] is absolutely independent in all areas of the church ... My parents sacrificed many things for us to have a better life, and I won t let them down. I was born in Zinapecuaro Michoacan, when I was seven years old I came to Salinas California with all my family. I remembered when I was a child my dad used to come every year to work on the fields. Then, he would go back each year for a short period of time, and I was waiting for him with happiness. As I grew up I realized that my parents wanted me to have a better life which they never had. Because my parents worked all day to bring food to our table, my brothers and I didn t spent too much time with them like we would like. My childhood was not easy at all, but I had the most amazing parents. Also, having their love made the happiest girl in world because that was enough for me. When I was a little girl I dreamed to be a doctor, but I changed my mind. Since high school I wanted to join the military, but I could not because of my weight. So, in my second semester during college; I decided to join the army to have a professional career and at the same time took a break for college. For all my experiences that have happened to me; I can only say that joining the Army was the best decision I have taken. In addition, I learned to live by the army values which are loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrity and personal courage. These values helped me ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 26. God s Grandeur, By Gerard Manly Hopkins God s Grandeur by Gerard Manly Hopkins As a Jesuit priest, Gerard Manly Hopkins devoted many years of his life to spiritual study and instruction. As seen in his poem God s Grandeur , Hopkins translated his intense spirituality into poems that explore the relationship between humans and the natural world as an expression of God s divinity. In the poem, Hopkins presents the Victorian fixation on progress and change not as an improvement, but rather as a regression from a constructive communion with God s glory as found in the natural world. Despite Hopkins negative view on the impact of man s progression, he remains confident and appreciative of the protective power of God and the inexhaustibility of nature as further ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Here, Hopkins establishes a connection between God s grandeur and light, which he continues in the second stanza with his description of the sunrise brought forth by the possibility of rebirth as well as continuity in nature. Although the sun sets in the black west, morning, at the brown brink eastward, springs (12). The sun, a source of energy so far superior to any source to any man made source, becomes an expression of God s care for the Earth, offering the possibility of freshness and growth despite all of man s abuses. Hopkins outlines some of these abuses in the first stanza, in which a rather bleak picture of man s interaction with the earth contrasts to the brightness of God s light. During the Victorian Age of mass production, people gradually drew away from small rural farms into the dismal urban world of factories and mills. Hopkins laments that such so called progress has drawn man away from the land. The sun, God s ultimate source of light and life, shines upon soil that Is bare now, abandoned for the urban life (8). That Hopkins chooses to say now in reference to the barren earth suggests a dramatic and negative change from the past. While not condemning the contemporary changes, Hopkins regrets that man s progress has so negatively impacted both the natural world and man himself. In defining how man s progress leads him away from the God s grandeur, Hopkins lowers the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Roman Mythology and Greek Mythology have a pretty similar lineage. However, after the Greeks left their ideals in Italy, the Roman Empire worked a way to create their own identity branching off from the Greeks that came before them. Roman authors did this through identifying their own Roman god s with those of the Greeks. As well they reinterpreted stories about Greek god s into stories about their own Roman deities. This laid the foundation for Rome to cultivate its own mythology and as well its own religious beliefs. This is most apparent through the stories leading up to and including the founding of Rome. It all starts with the Aeneid by Virgil. The Aeneid is a Latin epic poem written by Roman poet Virgil between 29 and 19 BC. The Aeneid tells the story of Aeneas. The virgins would serve a thirty year term of maintaining the sacred fire that burned in the Temple of Vesta. Unsurprising at the time, a majority of Virgins kept their oaths of celibacy, as the punishment for betrayal was to be buried alive in a tomb of concrete. Also, the man with whom the Virgin slept with would be buried alive with them. Being a Vestal Virgin was the most important job a woman could get in Rome as women were not an important part of life in the Roman culture. As a governance system, Confucianism s emphasis on hierarchy has served the programs of political elites, fostering a disconnect between rulers and the ruled. This pattern has contributed to poor environmental management over time, despite Confucian philosophy emphasizing unity between humans and the land (Elvin, 2004; Tuan, 1968). Argumentative Essay On Learning And Learning Children can learn about the world through reading material, whether that instruction is intended or not by the author, and whether the instruction is overt or relatively hidden. From cautionary, moral tales of old to modern problem novels and books for children about life issues, authors show and explain the world to the next generation. Matilda grew up in a family, where they did not value education or learning. While her parents went to work, she stayed home and was expected to watch TV or do nothing. Instead, she walked to the library and read books everyday. She learned many things from reading and begged her father if she could attend school like other kids her age. She read about history, law and many other educational topics that she could be learning if she was in school. Children are sponges for information around them. The basic practice of the architectural space is to reform the object of architecture on the site. The built environment that undergoes continually a transformation and change has evolved to be closely associated with people and the lives of people. At this point, the relationship between architectural and urban voids came into prominence. So, what is the void? How is it designed? And how can the void contact its inside and outside? or What is the potential of voids? Many theorists, architects, and philosophers have asked these questions for over two thousand year but answers are still uncertain. As a general thing, the void is about absence instead of existence, or about nothing instead of a thing. However, it may be said that void as emptiness is defined with a mutual understanding. Void as a conceptual topic could provide the inspiration for art and architecture. The existence of voids could reach to individuals and society thanks to art and architectural works.
