Bill Bradley Leadership Qualities
To reiterate, Bill Bradley s virtues of leadership, hard work, and respect are what account most for his
accomplishment as a citizen athlete. Bradleys first virtue is leadership. He was a leader on and off the
court, and he had this trait instilled in him since a little boy ( Bill Bradley. Biography). For example,
Bradley would always be the one who started communication on the court. He spoke in basketball
terms that nevertheless underlined his basic principle. (Bradley 106). Another example of Bill Bradley
s leadership virtue was when he led his Princeton Tigers to a winning season ( Bill Bradley 65. ). For
Bill, that accomplishment was not easy or given to him. He was on the rise and everyone wanted to
beat him. Everyone knew that he was an NBA prospect, but he kept his composure and played to the
best of his ability every single game. It did not matter who he was playing, he gave it his all and made
his teammates better. His teammates loved playing with him. Bill displayed impeccable confidence.
He always made the right decisions whether it was shooting the last shot for the win or getting his
teammates involved (Bradley 106). This was not only on the court but his leadership carried into his
post career. Bill was involved not only in sports, but he was also the U.S Senates for New Jersey. He
displayed tremendous patience through rigorous campaigning. This shows that he wanted to help
benefit values of our nation and come to a conclusion that will place a smile on

Comparing Shakespeare s Midsummer Night s Dream, Pride...
Compare and contrast the presentation of love and marriage in A Midsummer Night s Dream, Pride
and Prejudice and The Great Gatsby.
The main theme which brings A Midsummer Night s Dream, Pride and Prejudice and The Great
Gatsby together is the idea of how love and marriage is presented. Shakespeare, F. Scott Fitzgerald
and Austen all portray love and marriage as being two separate issues, which rarely intertwine. The
different contexts in which these texts are written have all had a huge impact on the way in which love
and marriage is portrayed. The Great Gatsby was set in the roaring twenties, a time where people
enjoyed wealth and artistic innovation. Pride and Prejudice was set in the early 19th century, a time
when wealth and marriage were hugely important. A Midsummer Night s Dream was written between
1590 and 1596, which is a comedic, light hearted play and focuses on marriage.
In the novel Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, marriage is a significant issue for almost every single
character that we are introduced to. In the year 1813, when the novel was first published, it was
natural for people to wed due to status and practicality instead of for true love. The very first line of
the novel is the perfect introduction to this It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in
possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife . Indeed, in 1813 marriage was seen as a
financial transaction and women were seen as a commodity who had to be wed in order

The Revolutionary Armed Forces of Columbia Essay
The Revolutionary Armed Forces of Columbia
The Revolutionary Armed Forces of Columbia, or FARC, have been waging a guerilla war against the
Columbian government for thirty eight years. The organization has a Marxist Socialist ideological
base and has been terrorizing Columbia for some time now. The most recent development is Senator
Martha Catalina Daniels was shot twice in the head and killed on March 3. Her body and two others
were found at the bottom of a ravine about twenty five miles west of the Columbia s capital, Bogotá.
They had also been tortured.
This is not unusual for the FARC. It is not commonplace, but the FARC uses kidnapping to get what
they want. Extreme? Yes, but not unusual for this type of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It only leads to the belief that they do not wish to patch things up and stop the violence. They want a
socialist government and the Columbian people want the democratic system that is in place now. I
believe that until the FARC gets what they want, they will not stop their terrorist ways. So how does
the Columbian government accomplish this?
One way to do this is to stop their flow of money. The FARC has admitted to making their money
from the illegal drug industry. If the Columbian government can somehow intercept the drugs before it
leaves the country or intercept the millions of dollars flowing into Columbia from the drug sales, then
the FARC would have a difficult time getting the weapons they need to commit these terrorist acts.
The Columbian government is in the middle of trying to solve these problems and has been since the
Medellín and Cali cartels have been around. Obviously this has not been an easy task.
Since the late 1990 s the United States and the Columbian government have been trying to work out a
plan to help the Columbian government fight the drug trade. It is called Plan Columbia and has been
in effect since late 1999 and early 2000. The objective of Plan Columbia is for the U.S. to shift
massive aid to the Columbian government. The amount of the aid is around $1.5 billion. This is to
help train the Columbian military on the war against drugs. The U.S. will

Space Weather in Interplanetary Space
Solar flares, Coronal mass ejections, high speed solar wind, and solar energetic particles, all driven by
the solar magnetic field (Solar).
Solar flares produce X Rays for a few minutes or hours and produce more radiation that the total
amount of light in infrared or visible light. Not likely for planets near flare stars to have life (102
book). Solar flares are intense bursts of radiation coming from the release of magnetic energy
associated with sunspots. They release photons at almost every wavelength in the electromagnetic

The outer solar atmosphere, the corona, is created by magnetic fields. When the fields close, the
confined solar atmosphere can suddenly violently release bubbles of gas and magnetic fields. A
coronal mass ejection can contain a billion tons of matter that can move at millions of miles per hour
(Solar). Solar energetic particles are released by shocks at the front of Coronal mass ejections and
solar flares. When a coronal mass ejection flows through the solar wind, high velocity solar energetic
particles are produced. They are charged so they follow the magnetic lines between the Sun and Earth
(Solar). Flow of charged particles called solar wind (Bergman). Space is filled with magnetic fields
which controls the solar winds (Bergman). High speed solar winds flow through coronal holes that can
form anywhere on the sun and usually only affect the Earth when they are near the solar equator. The
winds range from 800,000 to 5 million miles per hour, carrying a million tons of matter from the Sun
every second with a bout 100 particles per cubic inch

Europe s Gender Pay Gap And The Factors Affecting The Gap
Europe s gender pay gap and the factors affecting the gap
Europe has a significantly wide gender wage gap. In the broader sense, women are paid an average of
16% less per hour than men in European countries. As a result of this wage gap, women earn much
less than men over their lifetimes. This causes for lower pensions as well as a risk for poverty once a
woman reaches old age. In 2012 alone, 21.7% of women aged 65 and over were at a high risk for
poverty due to their pay. This is significantly less than the 16.3% of men aged 65 and over who were
at a high risk for poverty (EU Commission, 2014, p. 2). One of the reasons for this difference in pay is
due to the employment rate in Europe. Looking at European employees aged 20 64, the employment
rate for women is 62.3% and for men is 75%. The main reason for this is due to the fact that a
majority of women are part time employees 31% of women in Europe work part time in comparison
the only 9% of men. As a result, women are less likely to work full time, higher paying jobs that will
allow for them to earn rights for pension, health benefits, and so much more (EU Commission, 2014,
p. 2). Discrimination is an additional factor that leads to the gender pay gap. Per Beckerian
Discrimination, discrimination is defined as the valuation in the marketplace of personal
characteristics of the worker that are unrelated to worker productivity (Wikipedia). Personal
characteristics include physical features such as one s race or sex,

Kingdom Of Benin Essay
Unusually for a European country the Portuguese, the first nation to reach Benin s shores, were not
interested in colonising the Kingdom of Benin, wishing instead to establish trade links with the Oba
(the title of the reigning monarch) trading opulent items and firearms for pepper, ivory and palm oil.
Portugal only had a small population and the idea of an overseas empire was not a popular one. The
European visitors were willingly enmeshed into the folklore regarding Olokun, god of the sea and
earthly wealth, as they had travelled over the sea to get to the west coast of Africa. The Portuguese
were impressed with the well organised and highly civilised urban centre similar to those in Europe, as
were the Dutch after them who likened the size ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

mercenaries along with muskets and crossbows helped the Oba extend and maintain his borders.
Modern versions of these weapons were used by the Edo and Yoruba in their stand against the
Imperial British power which resulted in the British launching a punitive expedition against Benin in
1897. British officials (Vice Consul James Robert Phillips and Captain Gallwey) pushed for the
annexation of the territory, this resulted in the massacre of the British army presence there, which in
turn resulted in the destruction of Benin in 1897, led by Rear Admiral Harry

The Success Of The Great Leap
In addition to hastiness, many projects failed because people lacked the skills necessary to perform
them. The Great Leap did not support educated people and therefore the projects were often run by
uneducated cadres, commune managers, and often failed (310) (72). People did not know how to do
the jobs that the government forced them to do (31) (311). They plowed so deeply that the soiled had
salt in it (311). The peasants were ordered to look for uranium and petroleum in the countryside, not
knowing the appearance of these resources nor the proper way to find and collect them (31). People
forced to make steel in their backyards often did not know how it was done so that what they made
was often unusable (31). Because so much of the produce was worthless, the country found that they
had pledged more exports than they had (80). A policy in 1958 was Larger imports, larger exports (78)
but in 1958 they owed large amounts of money to Hungary, Czechoslovakia, and East Germany (80)
and in 1959 they were still having complaints from foreign countries about not delivering the
promised exports (81). To meet necessary exports, Mao decided that the country should cut down on
meat and oil consumption and export most of it (82). Because the government failed to properly plan
the Great Leap, they did not consider that there were skills necessary in performing various projects
and that their people did not have these skills, causing their projects to fail and their country to lose

Tom Killion s Monterey Bay From Santa Cruz Pogonip
This work of art is titled, Monterey Bay from Santa Cruz Pogonip. The artist who created this piece is
Tom Killion, and its creation came to be in 2002. The piece is a wood stamp press, these presses are
hand carved into wood and linoleum blocks. Each variety of color that is present in the piece, a new
block has to be created to ensure that the color doesn t blend in ways the artist would not want it too.
In the framed final piece, the stamp is separated into two different frames to gives focus to the the,
Monterey Bay and then Santa Cruz. In this piece, Killion uses this chance to portray Santa Cruz in a
landscape narrative, he uses depth to enable the landscape. The piece s foreground is the mountain in
Pogonip, a hiking area in the northern part of Santa Cruz County; then it starts spreading out to a
horizontal view of the ocean, and at the bottom of the mountain, Santa Cruz is located. In the
depiction of the town you see the shadows of the Big Dipper, an amusement park attraction and the

Scene Analysis Of Goodfellas
For my scene analysis, I will be talking about the scenes in Martin Scorsese s film, Goodfellas that
take place inside the nightclub. The film portrays the true story of mobster Henry Hill (played by Ray
Liotta) who grows up in the mob and works hard to advance himself through the ranks. He enjoys his
life of money and luxury, but is oblivious to the horror that he causes. During the film, the mobsters
spend a lot of their time enjoying themselves at a nightclub they frequent called the Copacabana . In
Goodfellas, the Copacabana is a high class nightclub littered with mafia gangsters and low key
lighting with a red tint and a Hawaiian theme. The scenes were shot by cinematographer, Michael
Ballhaus. Inside the club, the lighting is primarily dark with a tint of red which appears to be coming
from the practicals seen within the shots. This is clearly to give off a dark mafia vibe within the setting
of the film. The DP wants the audience to have a sense of slight discomfort within the nightclub and to
foreshadow the dark events that take place throughout the rest of the film. The style of lighting
displays the mafia lifestyle as something that is filled with murder, deception, and constant fear .
Bright lighting is only used during happy events during the film such as Henry and Karen s wedding
and to give off positive vibes for that moment. The scenes inside the nightclub seem to have a lighting
ratio of around 8:1, so it s accurate to say the setting appeared pretty

White Sharks
The problem, or debate, that I have chosen for my final project is the return of White Sharks to the
Atlantic coast, specifically off of Eastern Massachusetts. Because it is more of a debate, there are both
positives and negatives to this. These pertain to environment and ocean wildlife, public safety,
ecotourism, conservation, and research.
The cause of this debate comes with the return of White Sharks to the area. Over the past few years,
there has been an increase of this apex predator to our coasts like never before seen, most notably
since Labor Day weekend in 2009. Five sharks had been tagged by a marine biologist, Greg Skomal,
and have been closely tracked and documented since. Skomal is a key player in this research as

There are also a large number of marine biologists that track the sharks in the area, both by plane and
by boat. They have successfully tagged many of the sharks with electronics that allow scientists to
monitor and track the migration of the sharks. This allows for better predictability and will help reduce
shark human interactions. One major resource is the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy. They created
an app for smart phones called Sharktivity . This application allows users to track and report shark
sightings in real time. It will help beachgoers to predict where sharks are most likely to be found, or

Fsajiro Yamauchi Accomplishments
On September 23, 1889, just weeks before his thirtieth birthday, an entrepreneur named Fusajiro
Yamauchi opened a small, rickety looking shop in the heart of Kyoto. To attract the attention of
passing rickshaws and wealthy denizens, he inscribed the name of his new enterprise on the storefront
window: Nintendo, which had been selected by combining the kanji characters nin, ten, and do. Taken
together, they meant roughly leave luck to heaven though, like most successful entrepreneurs,
Yamauchi found success by making his own luck. In an era where most businessmen were content to
survive off the modest returns of regional mainstays such as sake, silk, and tea, he decided it was time
to try something new. So instead of selling a conventional product, Fusajiro Yamauchi opted for a

them with young go getters who he believed could usher Nintendo beyond its conservative past. With
innovation on his mind,Yamauchi branched out into a number of other, less lucrative endeavors,
including an instant rice company and a pay by the hour love hotel. These disappointments led
Yamauchi to the conclusion that Nintendo s greatest asset was the meticulous distribution system that
it had built over decades of selling playing cards. With such an intricate and expansive pipeline

department stores and settled upon a new category called

Newton s First Law
1) Newton s First Law is: Every object in a state of uniform motion tends to remain in that state of
motion unless an external force is applied to it. A real world example of this is that a soccer ball does
not move until it is kicked. Newton s Second Law is that the relationship between an object s mass m,
its acceleration a, and the applied force F is F = ma. Acceleration and force are vectors; in this law the
direction of the force vector is the same as the direction of the acceleration vector. This applies to the
design of a bullet. A bullet has low mass with high acceleration behind it, leading to high force on
impact. Newton s Third Law is that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. This law
can be understood as when an individual presses against a wall that they do not fall through the wall as
the wall pushes back against your action.
2) A 10 kg bowling ball is slowing down at a constant rate. In two seconds, its velocity drops from 5
m/s to 4.8 m/s. What is the total force acting on the ball, in N?
Variables: m = mass = 10 kg Vo = initial velocity = 5 m/s V = final velocity = 4.8 m/s t = time of
observation = 2 s a = acceleration = ? m/s2 F = force acting = ? N
Relationships:
a = (V Vo)/t F = ma
Computations:
3) The weight G of an object is BY DEFINITION
G = m*g where g is the acceleration of gravity
Hence g = G/m = 0.3/275 =0.001091 m/s/s

The Modern Epic of Batman Essay
An epic is a long narrative poem that tells the exploits of an epic hero. Epics are comprised of an epic
hero and an epic battle between good and evil. The earliest known epic today is The Epic of
Gilgamesh. This tale is about Gilgamesh s search for eternal life. Although epics have been around for
thousands of years, the epic tradition still has an enormous impact on modern writing and film. In fact,
Batman, a story about Bruce Wayne trying to conquer all criminals in Gotham, can be seen as modern
epic. An epic must have a vast setting, start in medias res and consist epithets. In The Epic of
Gilgamesh, he travels to an island that no human has ever been before and farther into the unknown
world similar to how Bruce Wayne is released ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Heroic heroes, Batman and Gilgamesh, perform numerous brave deeds. Before Bruce becomes
Batman, he receives expert training from the League of Shadows high in the mountains where he
learns how to disappear, face his fears, and become more than a man. In the Iliad, Achilles has the
same concept of a special weapon, his armor. In both of Batman and Gilgamesh s lives, they
experience a tremendously traumatic event that changes their outlook on the world and life. Batman,
Bruce Wayne, watches his parents be murdered in front of his own eyes as a young child and then
blames himself for their death for his entire life, until he is taught to forget the past and make the
future. Gilgamesh also had someone close to him die, his best friend.
An epic battle is a fight between good and evil. In the battle, the epic hero and his enemy fight for
their countries or their damsel in distress. Battles are in an enormous scale, involve supernatural
weapons, and the universe is involved. Ferries and the entire city of Gotham are the victims of the
fights among Batman and the Joker. When the Joker and Batman engage in hand to hand combat,
Batman must go through various stories of the building and get past all of the Jokers men without
being killed. Throughout the entire film, Batman and the cops try and take down the Mafia and cut off
their money supply and the drug

Wilfred Owen s Dulce Et Decorum Est, Tim OBrien s The Things They Carried, and Siegfried
Sassoon s Suicide in the Trenches
Many war pieces express a distinct sense of truth, hatred, and anger that can be found in the style,
tone, and imagery they possess. Incredible images are created in ones mind as war writings are read
and heard. Works written by such writers as Siegfried Sassoon, Wilfred Owen, and Tim OBrien really
reach out to the audience by way of the authors choice of words and images that they use in their
writing. These talented writers create very touching and heart felt images as they write about the true
occurrences, problems, feelings and emotions that soldiers encountered throughout times of war. It is
by way of these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Owen similarly guides the tone of his writing very carefully, choosing the perfect words and
punctuation to emphasize or stress certain aspects that he had in mind to be expressed. Owen also tries
to give the poem a serious tone to it by exclaiming, Gas! Gas! Quick boys! But someone still was
yelling out and stumbling As under a green sea, I saw him drowning (Gioia 782). He wants the reader
to understand what serious obstacles the soldiers had to suffer through. War really was a time of pain
and grief, not of glory. This idea is seen in Owens overall style of writing. He is rather honest and
blunt about wartime. Basically, he wants his audience to feel the pain of what soldiers of any war had
to go through. His final words are, The old Lie: Dulce et decorum est/ Pro patria mori. (Gioia 783).
The translation of those words says, It is sweet and fitting to die for ones country. He just wants
everyone to know that it is in deed a lie to believe that war and dying for ones country should be
rewarded and glorified.
Another wartime writing by Tim OBrien is known as The Things They Carried (Gioia 706). Unlike the
last piece of literature, this one is somewhat of a story rather than a poem. Tim OBrien does a fantastic
job of setting the tone and style of his piece in such a way that his audience truly gets the full
experience of what being a soldier in combat felt like. It is unclear whether OBrien wrote a
biographical story

Business Owners Of Sole Proprietorships And Partnerships
I. Introduction
When the term salary comes to mind, people reference employee wages and the taxes paid by both the
employee and the employer. However, the term has a slightly different meaning when it comes to
payment of business owners. There are many options on how business owners can be paid, but the
options are based on the business entity election. Business owners of sole proprietorships and
partnerships do not receive a real salary; instead they receive profit distributions from business
operations. Profits from a partnership are then divvied up based on the ownership percentage of each
partner. They are not responsible for paying the FICA tax, but they do need to pay self employment
taxes and quarterly estimated taxes. Business ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first major source include the services performed by the shareholder (i.e. administrative tasks
daily business tasks) in which require compensation to be awarded from distributed profits. The
second and third major sources include acquired profits from non shareholder employees as well as
equipment and capital added to the business. The profits that are distributed from these sources are
indirectly created within the business and are to be distributed as compensation and dividends (S
Corporation Compensation and Medical Insurance Issues 2016).
The IRS knows that business owners are not keen on paying taxes, so they have put together a list of
rules to make sure that business owners are compensating themselves. One of the biggest advantages
of electing the S corporation status is being able to take a salary as well as distribute profits to
shareholders. However, determining the amount of the business owner s salary can be problematic.
Since Mr. Jones and Mandy are going to take salaries of $180,000 and $70,000 respectively, the IRS is
not going to notice red flags. Another key point is that profits should be divided in a way that salaries
are more than distributions. The 60/40 split allows Mr. Jones to claim 60% of all profits to be
distributed, nothing higher or lower. If Mr. Jones company made $100,000 one year, he could not
claim anything higher

Discrimination in Harrison Bergeron, after you my dear...
Discrimination in the Short Stories, Harrison Bergeron, after you my dear Alphonse, and The Lottery
The trait of discrimination is the basis for the stories, Harrison Bergeron, after you my dear Alphonse,
and Lottery. Discrimination is when someone is hated or acted upon negatively for the reason of race,
sex, or nationality. In the short stories the author s feelings of discrimination are expressed through the
characters differently. In these stories the author has his own feelings and thought depicted through the
characters. By the popular theme of discrimination and racism it suggests that these stories were
written in the late sixties early seventies.
In the story Harrison Bergeron the whole country is handicapped except for ... Show more content on

This shows discrimination against everyone because they are taking that person s freedom away and
judging them on their looks and abilities. A man named Harrison who would be a sport super star in
real life because of his outstanding talent is fitted with weights and other handicaps to make him like
everyone else. He revolts and overcomes his handicaps but is soon killed for breaking the law. In this
story discrimination plays a big part in how the main character revolts.
The next example is in the story, after you my dear alphonse. In this story a boy becomes friends with
an African American boy named Boyd and brings him home for lunch, when he gets home his mother
is shocked to see her son with this boy. The mother assumes that the father works hard labor in the
fields and that the boy will grow up and do the same. But that?s not the case, the boys father works in
a factory. This is an example of discrimination because the mother assumes things just because he is
black.
The last example of discrimination as a theme for a short story is in The Lottery. In this story a
community has a lottery every year and the winner is stoned to death. The theme of discrimination is
shown when they just pick a random person and kill them. That discriminates against that person
because they show hate for little or no reason.

Mexican People And Misrepresented In The Mexican People
Many times, Mexican people are misrepresented in the media whether it s a person writing a racist
remark on social media, the president speaking ill of Mexican people, or just people blaming Mexican
s for stealing jobs from them that they didn t want to do in the first place. Even the Mexican people
born in the United States are criticized just as much as immigrants are because of their race, name, or
just because they may look like the typical Mexican to other people but how can someone try to
marginalize other documented citizens for such simple characteristics? It s sad and upsetting to see
how a single person can corrupt most individuals to believe such remarks made towards my Mexican
community to get votes for a presidential election. Trump as we all know it has made many remarks
towards Mexicans while running for office and this sparked a racial conflict between Mexicans vs the
people who support his mindless verbal attacks, when Trump was running for office he made this
remark that stood out to me a lot, When Mexico sends its people, they re not sending their best... They
re sending people that have lots of problems, and they re bringing those problems with us. They re
bringing drugs. They re bringing crime. They re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people .

Buchi Emecheta and African Traditional Society Essay
Buchi Emecheta s literary terrain is the domestic experience of the female characters, and the way in
which these characters try to turn the table against the second class and slavish status to which they
are subjected either by their husbands or the male oriented traditions. Reading Buchi Emecheta
informs us of the ways fiction, especially women s writing, plays a role in constructing a world in
which women can live complete lives; a world that may provide women with opportunities for

(xii) Emecheta s first novels which are set in Nigeria, The Salve Girl, The Bride Price and The Joys of
Motherhood work like a double edged sword. On the one hand, they are portraits of female bondage
(Frank 749), describing African women in their total submergence and enslavement. On the other, they
depict the structures and institutions which empower women and increase their participation in the
socio political, economic and spiritual activities in their community. In these three novels she gives a
picture of women in contemporary society as well as those in the past. The realistic picture provided
by the writer destroys women s contentment with the present state of affairs while giving insights into
the strategies that enable women to survive the oppressions of patriarchal society. Two types of
women are presented in these novels: those that concede to oppression and domination of the
patriarchal society and those who try hard to exploit the existing institutions of their society for their
best. It is mainly in these three novels that the writer intends to show the positive possibilities offered
to women in the traditional African society which helps them have some degrees of authenticity and
also remind the readers of colonialism s responsibilities in depriving women of these rights and thus
aggravating the subjugation. In an Igbo society there are

Feudalism During The Middle Ages
Feudalism is the military, social, and political system of the Middle Ages based on protective alliances
and land holding. The word comes from the Latin word feudum which means fief, an estate of land.
The feudal system was based off of the obligations and rights of people living during the time.
Landowners, also known as lords, gave their land in exchange for military protection and other
services. This granted land was called a fief, meanwhile, the person receiving it was called a vassal.
Feudalism not only depended but also functioned on the control of land. Without this two sided
bargain feudalism would not become successful during the Middle Ages.
The feudal society was structured much like a pyramid. At the very top and peak, was the

Expectancy and Role Conflicts Illustrated in Everybody Loves Raymond Learning to communicate
efficiently and manage conflict successfully is challenging. Gaining cooperation between people is
complex and mentally demanding. Communication ways and conflict styles are deeply woven into our
personalities. Conflict is the expressed struggle of interdependent parties who perceive incompatible
goals, interference from the other party in achieving those goals, and the perception of scarce
resources. Perceptions are just as important as reality in regards to conflict. As stated in the text, we
encounter conflict as we compete for acceptance, love, recognition, position, power, success, and
many other goals. Judgments of the quality of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The conflict here is that Robert s goals were to experience the freedom from his parents and not Amy.
If either had used perception checking, it is possible that their conflict would have ended. The
Attribution Theory is based upon assigning meanings for another s behavior. What we think to be true
is not always accurate. It is necessary to implement proactive strategies such as perception checking.
Perception checking involves three components. They are as stated: 1. A complete description of
behavior observed 2. Provide two possible interpretations of the observed behavior 3. Request for
clarity In either case, both Robert and Amy entered the termination stage together. As stated earlier
and expressed here, conflict usually occurs because of incompatible goals. Incompatible goals are
often perceived in dialectical tensions of relationships. Leslie Baxter formulated the Relationship
Dialectical Theory. Usually it is opposing tensions that bring people into conflicts in relationships. The
number one cause for break ups is the relational dialectic, integration/separation. The two opposing
forces at war are the desire to bond (Amy) and the desire for autonomy (Robert). Dr. McKinney
illustrates these tensions as a contradiction; the idea of conflict between desires in a relationship.
Mediation is a wonderful process in negotiating a solution between two parties thwarted by

The Theme Of Resistance In Angela s Ashes And The Street
Accoring to Merrim Webster Dictionary, resistance is defined as an act or instance of resisting:
opposition, a means of resisting or the capacity to resist: such as survive exposure to a toxic
agent(815). From this definition, it can be futher explained the common theme between two passages.
Throughout Frank McCourt s novel, Angela s Ashes, and Ann Petry s novel, The Street, the theme of
resistance is suffieciently developed in characters, events, and settings. The theme of resistance in
Frank McCourt s Angela s Ashes is shown thorugh a boy preventing his family s demise, through
begging, stealing, and his brief discomfort, in the winter of Ireland. McCourt problem solves when he
states, Still, I ll have to try Kathleen O Connell once more (3). With the boy s mother sick and his
siblings hungry due the familys state of poverty, the boy is trying to figure out who to go to for help.
This quote shows the boy s determination to take care of his mother, and feed his brothers, despite the
lack of people willing to help, including direct family. The boy is attempting to prevent the
misfortunes by deciding to taking action. A related event takes place when the same boy sticks the
bread under his jersey with O Connell s stolen lemonade and made a promise to tell everything in
confession (McCourt 5). The boy is stealing food and lemonade to feed his hungry brothers and

Similarities Between Greek Mythology And The Holy Bible
Greek mythology and The Holy Bible are writings from the ancient civilizations. The proximity
regarding some narratives between the two publications brings about a great deal of curiosity to
inquiring minds. How and why do both texts reveal interchangeable associations and can this
phenomenon be explained?
In ancient Greece, Greek mythology began to emerge. Mythological narratives began to erupt for the
purpose of giving an explanation to certain social, religious, and environmental phenomena. Greek
stories included gods, goddesses, heroes and non human creatures.
Unlike Mythology, The Bible s narratives are actual events that took place dating back to the
beginning of time. The beginning of The Holy Bible s compilation started thousands of years ago in
the land of Egypt. The Old Testament Scriptures were written in Hebrew and were later translated into
the Greek, however, The New Testament writings were first constructed in the Greek language. Over
forty men transcribed what was told to him by God and as a result, sixty six books make up the entire
Holy Bible. The Holy Scriptures explained the creations, formation of the world, who God is, who
God s chosen peoples are, sin, and the plan of salvation as well.
Homer s The Odyssey, is an epic poem of mythology which includes twenty four books. The ancient
text centers its topics of discussion around the Trojan War, a hero named Odysseus and the challenges
he faced throughout the text. The abduction of Queen Helen by the

is, theories surrounding this odd place, stories from a retired scientist, a possibly even more odd and
mysterious building nearby, and, the oddest part about this place, its residents. Area 51 has some
interesting history. It is located in southern Nevada, some what near Las Vegas. Officially, it is a
United States Air Force Facility and is an extended branch of the Edwards Air Force Base. The
primary purpose of this base has not been revealed to the public. The CIA acknowledged the base for

Friedel-Crafts Acylation Lab Report
The Friedel Crafts acylation reaction is an important and valuable electrophilic aromatic substitution
reaction. First introduced in 1912 by Charles Friedel and James M. Crafts, this reaction allows large
multi step reactions to take place, and creates numerous types of products.1 Today, Friedel Crafts
reactions are among the most used electrophilic aromatic substitution reactions. In the electrophilic
aromatic substitution class of reactions, functional groups are substituted onto an aromatic ring.2
Products such as ketones, hydrocarbons and phenols, phenol ethers, and keto acids can be produced by
electrophilic aromatic substitution.1 These products can then undergo other reactions, allowing for the
creation of many types of products. The products acquired can be used for a range of purposes, such as
pharmaceuticals, pesticides, dyes, etcetera.3 In particular, Friedel Crafts acylation reactions result in a
product containing a ketone. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The functional group added during a Friedel Crafts acylation reaction, deactivates the ring, resulting in
a mono substituted ring rather that a poly substituted ring, which is produced from a Friedel Crafts

ring instead of yielding a product containing a ketone. To obtain the ketone product, an acyl group is
added to an aromatic ring. However, for this reaction to take place, no electron withdrawing groups
can be present on the aromatic ring, and an acyl halide must be used to obtain the acyl cation.5 These
limitations are met, in the Friedel Crafts acylation reaction of anisole with acetyl

Power Of Familia
In this chapter, I will investigate the various meanings of familia. The theme of my chosen vocabulary
is the language of power and thus it is necessary to compare the power of the magistrate or state
official to that of parents in the home. The word derives from the noun famulus which means servant
or slave (LS 1879). I will be contrasting the use of familia with that of domus as aspects of words
connoting power. Saller (1999: p.84) states that familia was never used to mean father, mother, and
children as in today s term family as it referred, as we can see from its etymology, to the slave staff of
a house.

I conducted my interview on a man named Jack Bauwer who was an Afghanistan war veteran which
took place between 2001 and 2014 though he was there from 2001 to 2006. The major purpose of the
war was to counter terrorism in response to 9/11 attacks and it was known as Operation Enduring
Freedom. The combat mission conducted in Afghanistan was to eliminate and weaken the Al Qaeda
militia and their Taliban supporters. I met Mr. Bauwer through a friend while we had gone for a
swimming competition. Mr. Bauwer was Tony s neighbor at Inglewood California. Tony Michaels,
Kim and I were present at the time of the interview.
Memory Jogging
Mr Bauwer joined the army when he was 25 years old forced by circumstances to abandon his studies
at the university to provide for his family after his father, who was a police officer, was killed in a
shootout in an attempt to apprehend armed robbers who had been terrorizing residents. Bauwer
explained how life became tough for his mother who did not have a decent job especially in meeting
the family expenses and still pay school fees for the siblings. Jack had to sacrifice his education to
ensure his siblings went through school. It happened that at the same time the army was recruiting
new members into the force and that is how he joined the army. He underwent basic combat training,
which was really tough but he had no option but to persevere and face the challenges as they came.
Many of his counterparts quit in the process. Jack was enlisted in

I never thought being chosen as captain, for my high school robotics team, would make me more

I have always been interested in robot and robotics, and my freshman year of high school, I was given

career, it would grow from a club into a class, my junior year. We were making strides that year, we

A Study On Sex Education
According to the University of Kansas, historian Jeffrey P. Morgan in his book Teaching, Sex, sex
education first appeared in 1913 when Chicago public schools instituted a lecture series for girls and,
separately boys, on physiology, moral hygiene, and venereal disease . Americans have viewed
adolescent sexuality as an impulse to be controlled, or better, repressed. Sex education has mainly
aimed at saving teenage girls from having early sex, and the prevention of sexually transmitted
diseases. Alfred Kinsey discovered that girls and boys started having sex at younger ages than usual;
this made the change in the curriculum for sex classes critical. Comprehensive sex education classes
are key to our youth to ensure a healthy lifestyle, to obtain a proper education, and to achieve
economic progression. Thus making comprehensive sex education classes more effective than
abstinence only classes.
Abstinence only classes became funded federally in 1996 when Congress passed the landmark
Welfare Reform law. Before then, classes such as Family Life Education, and sexual history were
taught. The Department of Health Science did a study and discovered that the abstinence only classes
were not bringing down the numbers enough to be effective. Now the classes are all evolving into sex
education classes, which teach teenagers safe ways to have sex. The Federal Government has now
stopped all funds of abstinence only classes and started funding sex education classes. The
government is

Second Vatican Church
Although it has been over 60 years since the Second Council of Vatican closed, there are still
confusions as to the perception of the Church among the faithful. Some argue extremely that the
Church has been divided and devastated because of Vatican II. Also, the misunderstanding is rampant,
such as that the Second Vatican Council has changed the doctrine on the Church. In this essay, one of
the ecclesial images Lumen gentium provides, the mystery of the Church, shall be discussed in further
detail.
Firstly, the Church is illustrated as a mystery in Lumen gentium. The Lord Jesus, the only Saviour, did
not only establish a simple community of disciples, but constituted the Church as a salvific mystery.

Finally, Lumen gentium proclaim that all humanity are called to this mystery of Communion. Since
the Church is a sign and instrument for that purpose, the Church is not an end unto herself. As
communion means vertically, with God, it also involves horizontal dimension with people. The
Church is visible and also spiritual (LG 8). These conflicting two images should not considered as two
realities; these are merged in mystical way:
The society structured with hierarchical organs and the Mystical Body of Christ, are not to be
considered as two realities, nor are the visible assembly and the spiritual community, nor the earthly
Church and the Church enriched with heavenly things; rather they form one complex reality which
coalesces from a divine and a human element.
Subsequently, Lumen gentium asserts that this is the one Church of Christ which in the Creed is
professed as one, holy, catholic and apostolic (LG 8). Because of its catholicity, the Church is for all
human beings. In other words, the church is the universal Sacrament of Salvation. Affirming this
church is subsist in the Roman Catholic Church, the council starts to allow a greater openness to the

Steps And Guidelines The Partners Declan And Serena Essay
1) In order to form a partnership in Ontario there are various steps and guidelines the partners Declan
and Serena have to abide with. 1) Identity of Partners: The partners have to be 18 years or older. There
has to be a minimum of 2 partners or more to create a partnership. Each partner has to sign a
document that represents the establishment of the partnership and the interest to create the partnership.
There are different kinds of partnerships, i.e. LLP, Equity Partners, and Non Equity Partners etc. The
partners have to state the nature of their partnership for example each partners contribution to the
business, profit sharing tactics and voting entitlement of the partners. 2) Name of the Company: In
order to create a partnership a name must be established and the partnership has to undertake their
business under this name. If they decide to change the name or use a name that already exists, it will
result in the loss of goodwill, an injunction for infringement against the partnership and the respective
partners. They have to make sure the name is not copyrighted or trademarked by another existing
company. Searches for trademark can be done online too. 3) Term of Partnership: A term has to be
signed for partnership, starting from the commencing date or the date when the partnership was
signed. A term can also be interpreted as an advantage because if the company is not doing well
according to the partners agreement, when the term ends each partner will take

  • 2. Bill Bradley Leadership Qualities To reiterate, Bill Bradley s virtues of leadership, hard work, and respect are what account most for his accomplishment as a citizen athlete. Bradleys first virtue is leadership. He was a leader on and off the court, and he had this trait instilled in him since a little boy ( Bill Bradley. Biography). For example, Bradley would always be the one who started communication on the court. He spoke in basketball terms that nevertheless underlined his basic principle. (Bradley 106). Another example of Bill Bradley s leadership virtue was when he led his Princeton Tigers to a winning season ( Bill Bradley 65. ). For Bill, that accomplishment was not easy or given to him. He was on the rise and everyone wanted to beat him. Everyone knew that he was an NBA prospect, but he kept his composure and played to the best of his ability every single game. It did not matter who he was playing, he gave it his all and made his teammates better. His teammates loved playing with him. Bill displayed impeccable confidence. He always made the right decisions whether it was shooting the last shot for the win or getting his teammates involved (Bradley 106). This was not only on the court but his leadership carried into his post career. Bill was involved not only in sports, but he was also the U.S Senates for New Jersey. He displayed tremendous patience through rigorous campaigning. This shows that he wanted to help benefit values of our nation and come to a conclusion that will place a smile on ... • 3. Comparing Shakespeare s Midsummer Night s Dream, Pride... Compare and contrast the presentation of love and marriage in A Midsummer Night s Dream, Pride and Prejudice and The Great Gatsby. The main theme which brings A Midsummer Night s Dream, Pride and Prejudice and The Great Gatsby together is the idea of how love and marriage is presented. Shakespeare, F. Scott Fitzgerald and Austen all portray love and marriage as being two separate issues, which rarely intertwine. The different contexts in which these texts are written have all had a huge impact on the way in which love and marriage is portrayed. The Great Gatsby was set in the roaring twenties, a time where people enjoyed wealth and artistic innovation. Pride and Prejudice was set in the early 19th century, a time when wealth and marriage were hugely important. A Midsummer Night s Dream was written between 1590 and 1596, which is a comedic, light hearted play and focuses on marriage. In the novel Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, marriage is a significant issue for almost every single character that we are introduced to. In the year 1813, when the novel was first published, it was natural for people to wed due to status and practicality instead of for true love. The very first line of the novel is the perfect introduction to this It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife . Indeed, in 1813 marriage was seen as a financial transaction and women were seen as a commodity who had to be wed in order ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Revolutionary Armed Forces of Columbia Essay The Revolutionary Armed Forces of Columbia The Revolutionary Armed Forces of Columbia, or FARC, have been waging a guerilla war against the Columbian government for thirty eight years. The organization has a Marxist Socialist ideological base and has been terrorizing Columbia for some time now. The most recent development is Senator Martha Catalina Daniels was shot twice in the head and killed on March 3. Her body and two others were found at the bottom of a ravine about twenty five miles west of the Columbia s capital, Bogotá. They had also been tortured. This is not unusual for the FARC. It is not commonplace, but the FARC uses kidnapping to get what they want. Extreme? Yes, but not unusual for this type of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It only leads to the belief that they do not wish to patch things up and stop the violence. They want a socialist government and the Columbian people want the democratic system that is in place now. I believe that until the FARC gets what they want, they will not stop their terrorist ways. So how does the Columbian government accomplish this? One way to do this is to stop their flow of money. The FARC has admitted to making their money from the illegal drug industry. If the Columbian government can somehow intercept the drugs before it leaves the country or intercept the millions of dollars flowing into Columbia from the drug sales, then the FARC would have a difficult time getting the weapons they need to commit these terrorist acts. The Columbian government is in the middle of trying to solve these problems and has been since the Medellín and Cali cartels have been around. Obviously this has not been an easy task. Since the late 1990 s the United States and the Columbian government have been trying to work out a plan to help the Columbian government fight the drug trade. It is called Plan Columbia and has been in effect since late 1999 and early 2000. The objective of Plan Columbia is for the U.S. to shift massive aid to the Columbian government. The amount of the aid is around $1.5 billion. This is to help train the Columbian military on the war against drugs. The U.S. will ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Solar flares produce X Rays for a few minutes or hours and produce more radiation that the total amount of light in infrared or visible light. Not likely for planets near flare stars to have life (102 book). Solar flares are intense bursts of radiation coming from the release of magnetic energy associated with sunspots. Solar energetic particles are released by shocks at the front of Coronal mass ejections and solar flares. When a coronal mass ejection flows through the solar wind, high velocity solar energetic particles are produced. They are charged so they follow the magnetic lines between the Sun and Earth (Solar). • 6. Europe s Gender Pay Gap And The Factors Affecting The Gap Europe s gender pay gap and the factors affecting the gap Europe has a significantly wide gender wage gap. In the broader sense, women are paid an average of 16% less per hour than men in European countries. As a result of this wage gap, women earn much less than men over their lifetimes. This causes for lower pensions as well as a risk for poverty once a woman reaches old age. In 2012 alone, 21.7% of women aged 65 and over were at a high risk for poverty due to their pay. This is significantly less than the 16.3% of men aged 65 and over who were at a high risk for poverty (EU Commission, 2014, p. 2). One of the reasons for this difference in pay is due to the employment rate in Europe. Looking at European employees aged 20 64, the employment rate for women is 62.3% and for men is 75%. The main reason for this is due to the fact that a majority of women are part time employees 31% of women in Europe work part time in comparison the only 9% of men. As a result, women are less likely to work full time, higher paying jobs that will allow for them to earn rights for pension, health benefits, and so much more (EU Commission, 2014, p. 2). Discrimination is an additional factor that leads to the gender pay gap. Per Beckerian Discrimination, discrimination is defined as the valuation in the marketplace of personal characteristics of the worker that are unrelated to worker productivity (Wikipedia). Personal characteristics include physical features such as one s race or sex, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Kingdom Of Benin Essay Unusually for a European country the Portuguese, the first nation to reach Benin s shores, were not interested in colonising the Kingdom of Benin, wishing instead to establish trade links with the Oba (the title of the reigning monarch) trading opulent items and firearms for pepper, ivory and palm oil. Portugal only had a small population and the idea of an overseas empire was not a popular one. The European visitors were willingly enmeshed into the folklore regarding Olokun, god of the sea and earthly wealth, as they had travelled over the sea to get to the west coast of Africa. The Portuguese were impressed with the well organised and highly civilised urban centre similar to those in Europe, as were the Dutch after them who likened the size ... • 8. The Success Of The Great Leap In addition to hastiness, many projects failed because people lacked the skills necessary to perform them. The Great Leap did not support educated people and therefore the projects were often run by uneducated cadres, commune managers, and often failed (310) (72). People did not know how to do the jobs that the government forced them to do (31) (311). They plowed so deeply that the soiled had salt in it (311). The peasants were ordered to look for uranium and petroleum in the countryside, not knowing the appearance of these resources nor the proper way to find and collect them (31). People forced to make steel in their backyards often did not know how it was done so that what they made was often unusable (31). Because so much of the produce was worthless, the country found that they had pledged more exports than they had (80). A policy in 1958 was Larger imports, larger exports (78) but in 1958 they owed large amounts of money to Hungary, Czechoslovakia, and East Germany (80) and in 1959 they were still having complaints from foreign countries about not delivering the promised exports (81). To meet necessary exports, Mao decided that the country should cut down on meat and oil consumption and export most of it (82). Because the government failed to properly plan the Great Leap, they did not consider that there were skills necessary in performing various projects and that their people did not have these skills, causing their projects to fail and their country to lose the ... • 10. Scene Analysis Of Goodfellas For my scene analysis, I will be talking about the scenes in Martin Scorsese s film, Goodfellas that take place inside the nightclub. The film portrays the true story of mobster Henry Hill (played by Ray Liotta) who grows up in the mob and works hard to advance himself through the ranks. He enjoys his life of money and luxury, but is oblivious to the horror that he causes. During the film, the mobsters spend a lot of their time enjoying themselves at a nightclub they frequent called the Copacabana . In Goodfellas, the Copacabana is a high class nightclub littered with mafia gangsters and low key lighting with a red tint and a Hawaiian theme. The scenes were shot by cinematographer, Michael Ballhaus. Inside the club, the lighting is primarily dark with a tint of red which appears to be coming from the practicals seen within the shots. This is clearly to give off a dark mafia vibe within the setting of the film. The DP wants the audience to have a sense of slight discomfort within the nightclub and to foreshadow the dark events that take place throughout the rest of the film. The style of lighting displays the mafia lifestyle as something that is filled with murder, deception, and constant fear . Bright lighting is only used during happy events during the film such as Henry and Karen s wedding and to give off positive vibes for that moment. The scenes inside the nightclub seem to have a lighting ratio of around 8:1, so it s accurate to say the setting appeared pretty ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. White Sharks The problem, or debate, that I have chosen for my final project is the return of White Sharks to the Atlantic coast, specifically off of Eastern Massachusetts. Because it is more of a debate, there are both positives and negatives to this. These pertain to environment and ocean wildlife, public safety, ecotourism, conservation, and research. The cause of this debate comes with the return of White Sharks to the area. Over the past few years, there has been an increase of this apex predator to our coasts like never before seen, most notably since Labor Day weekend in 2009. Five sharks had been tagged by a marine biologist, Greg Skomal, and have been closely tracked and documented since. Skomal is a key player in this research as project leader ... • 12. Fsajiro Yamauchi Accomplishments On September 23, 1889, just weeks before his thirtieth birthday, an entrepreneur named Fusajiro Yamauchi opened a small, rickety looking shop in the heart of Kyoto. To attract the attention of passing rickshaws and wealthy denizens, he inscribed the name of his new enterprise on the storefront window: Nintendo, which had been selected by combining the kanji characters nin, ten, and do. Taken together, they meant roughly leave luck to heaven though, like most successful entrepreneurs, Yamauchi found success by making his own luck. With innovation on his mind,Yamauchi branched out into a number of other, less lucrative endeavors, including an instant rice company and a pay by the hour love hotel. These disappointments led Yamauchi to the conclusion that Nintendo s greatest asset was the meticulous distribution system that it had built over decades of selling playing cards. • 13. Newton s First Law 1) Newton s First Law is: Every object in a state of uniform motion tends to remain in that state of motion unless an external force is applied to it. A real world example of this is that a soccer ball does not move until it is kicked. Newton s Second Law is that the relationship between an object s mass m, its acceleration a, and the applied force F is F = ma. Acceleration and force are vectors; in this law the direction of the force vector is the same as the direction of the acceleration vector. This applies to the design of a bullet. A bullet has low mass with high acceleration behind it, leading to high force on impact. Newton s Third Law is that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. This law can be understood as when an individual presses against a wall that they do not fall through the wall as the wall pushes back against your action. 2) A 10 kg bowling ball is slowing down at a constant rate. In two seconds, its velocity drops from 5 m/s to 4.8 m/s. What is the total force acting on the ball, in N? Variables: m = mass = 10 kg Vo = initial velocity = 5 m/s V = final velocity = 4.8 m/s t = time of observation = 2 s a = acceleration = ? m/s2 F = force acting = ? The earliest known epic today is The Epic of Gilgamesh. This tale is about Gilgamesh s search for eternal life. Although epics have been around for thousands of years, the epic tradition still has an enormous impact on modern writing and film. In fact, Batman, a story about Bruce Wayne trying to conquer all criminals in Gotham, can be seen as modern epic. An epic must have a vast setting, start in medias res and consist epithets. Owen similarly guides the tone of his writing very carefully, choosing the perfect words and punctuation to emphasize or stress certain aspects that he had in mind to be expressed. Owen also tries to give the poem a serious tone to it by exclaiming, Gas! Gas! Quick boys! But someone still was yelling out and stumbling As under a green sea, I saw him drowning (Gioia 782). He wants the reader to understand what serious obstacles the soldiers had to suffer through. War really was a time of pain and grief, not of glory. This idea is seen in Owens overall style of writing. He is rather honest and blunt about wartime. Basically, he wants his audience to feel the pain of what soldiers of any war had to go through. His final words are, The old Lie: Dulce et decorum est/ Pro patria mori. (Gioia 783). The translation of those words says, It is sweet and fitting to die for ones country. He just wants everyone to know that it is in deed a lie to believe that war and dying for ones country should be rewarded and glorified. Another wartime writing by Tim OBrien is known as The Things They Carried (Gioia 706). Unlike the last piece of literature, this one is somewhat of a story rather than a poem. Tim OBrien does a fantastic job of setting the tone and style of his piece in such a way that his audience truly gets the full experience of what being a soldier in combat felt like. Introduction When the term salary comes to mind, people reference employee wages and the taxes paid by both the employee and the employer. However, the term has a slightly different meaning when it comes to payment of business owners. There are many options on how business owners can be paid, but the options are based on the business entity election. Business owners of sole proprietorships and partnerships do not receive a real salary; instead they receive profit distributions from business operations. Profits from a partnership are then divvied up based on the ownership percentage of each partner. The first major source include the services performed by the shareholder (i.e. administrative tasks daily business tasks) in which require compensation to be awarded from distributed profits. The second and third major sources include acquired profits from non shareholder employees as well as equipment and capital added to the business. The profits that are distributed from these sources are indirectly created within the business and are to be distributed as compensation and dividends (S Corporation Compensation and Medical Insurance Issues 2016). The IRS knows that business owners are not keen on paying taxes, so they have put together a list of rules to make sure that business owners are compensating themselves. One of the biggest advantages of electing the S corporation status is being able to take a salary as well as distribute profits to shareholders. However, determining the amount of the business owner s salary can be problematic. Since Mr. Jones and Mandy are going to take salaries of $180,000 and $70,000 respectively, the IRS is not going to notice red flags. Another key point is that profits should be divided in a way that salaries are more than distributions. The 60/40 split allows Mr. Jones to claim 60% of all profits to be distributed, nothing higher or lower. If Mr. Jones company made $100,000 one year, he could not claim anything higher ... The next example is in the story, after you my dear alphonse. In this story a boy becomes friends with an African American boy named Boyd and brings him home for lunch, when he gets home his mother is shocked to see her son with this boy. The mother assumes that the father works hard labor in the fields and that the boy will grow up and do the same. But that?s not the case, the boys father works in a factory. This is an example of discrimination because the mother assumes things just because he is black. The last example of discrimination as a theme for a short story is in The Lottery. On the other, they depict the structures and institutions which empower women and increase their participation in the socio political, economic and spiritual activities in their community. In these three novels she gives a picture of women in contemporary society as well as those in the past. The realistic picture provided by the writer destroys women s contentment with the present state of affairs while giving insights into the strategies that enable women to survive the oppressions of patriarchal society. Two types of women are presented in these novels: those that concede to oppression and domination of the patriarchal society and those who try hard to exploit the existing institutions of their society for their best. Usually it is opposing tensions that bring people into conflicts in relationships. The number one cause for break ups is the relational dialectic, integration/separation. The proximity regarding some narratives between the two publications brings about a great deal of curiosity to inquiring minds. First introduced in 1912 by Charles Friedel and James M. In the electrophilic aromatic substitution class of reactions, functional groups are substituted onto an aromatic ring.2 Products such as ketones, hydrocarbons and phenols, phenol ethers, and keto acids can be produced by electrophilic aromatic substitution.1 These products can then undergo other reactions, allowing for the creation of many types of products. Morgan in his book Teaching, Sex, sex education first appeared in 1913 when Chicago public schools instituted a lecture series for girls and, separately boys, on physiology, moral hygiene, and venereal disease . Americans have viewed adolescent sexuality as an impulse to be controlled, or better, repressed. Sex education has mainly aimed at saving teenage girls from having early sex, and the prevention of sexually transmitted diseases. Alfred Kinsey discovered that girls and boys started having sex at younger ages than usual; this made the change in the curriculum for sex classes critical.
