Essay Intrusion Detection Systems
Intrusion Detection Systems
In 1980, James Anderson s paper, Computer Security Threat Monitoring and Surveillance, bore the
notion of intrusion detection. Through government funding and serious corporate interest allowed for
intrusion detection systems(IDS) to develope into their current state. So what exactly is IDS? An IDS
is used to detect malicious network traffic and computer usage through attack signatures. The IDS
watches for attacks not only from incoming internet traffic but also for attacks that originate in the
system. When a potential attack is detected the IDS logs the information and sends an alert to the
console. How the alert is detected and handled at is dependent on the type of IDS in place. Through

With NIDS the system attempts to detect threats and attacks, such as denial of service attacks, port
scans and attempts to hack into computers by monitoring the network traffic in real time through a
promiscuous connection. It does so by first filtering out all known non malicious traffic and then
analyzing the remaining incoming packets for suspicious patterns that could be threats. It is not
however limited to just analyzing incoming packets, the system also analyzes the outgoing local
traffic, in case of an attack/threat that originates inside of the local network. Snort is an example of
this.
Host based intrusion detection systems unlike network intrusion detection systems, which focus on a
computing system s external interfaces, host based systems focus on the monitoring and examination
of the computing system s internals. Host based systems are more concerned with the changes in state
of a computing system. It detects these changes by analyzing system specific logs either in real time or
periodically. When there is any change in the logs the IDS will compare the current configuration of
the security policy to the changes and react accordingly. An example of this would be tripwire.
Protocol based intrusion detection systems (PIDS) monitor the dynamic behavior and state of the
protocol. In a typical setup there is a system or agent sitting at the front end of the server. This agent or
system monitors the communication protocol between the

The Frankenstein-Fall Narrative And The Story Of...
The Genesis Fall narrative and the story of Frankenstein offer the reader to make a good comparison
between those two texts. The author of the Frankenstein s monster story has made an outstanding plot
and context for the reader to always looking back at what The Genesis Fall told us and started to
compare the messages that have been brought to reach the understanding of the reader. However, there
is still a slight similarity and difference in terms of some contexts of creation stated in both texts. The
comparison such as life creation, the treatment of creator towards creation and how the Frankenstein
Fall myth has shaped contemporary perspectives on techno science and ethics will be further
discussed in this paper.
At the very opening of the Genesis, it discusses how God created the earth within six days. Then, it
also explains how God created the nature life on earth as well as created the very first human being,
Adam which proves His power and role as a creator of creation. (Moses, Genesis, p.1). In related with
this, in the story of Frankenstein, Victor was trying to take a role of God to become a creator. He
becomes captivated with the pursuit of creating and discovering his ability to create something after
mastering the modern science by bringing a repulsive monster to life. In one of the scenes in the
movie of Frankenstein (1931), he expressed his feeling of victory after successfully gave a life to the
monster;
FRANKENSTEIN: Oh, in the name of God! Now I know what it feels like to be God!
The creation of the monster could be taken metaphorically to Victor s eating the prohibited fruit.
Victor also can be classified as Adam who ate the forbidden fruit from the Tree of the Knowledge of
Good and Evil because his searching of wisdom to creating a life is something that out of his
knowledge and it is not his responsibility to learn what is not mean for him. As God had warned Adam
that he can eat any kind of fruits he wanted to but not the fruit from the Tree of Conscience because if
he does so, he will be knowing the good and evil which only mean to be a God s knowledge (Moses,
Genesis, p.2).
Upon the creation of life, it is important for the creator to know the purpose of his creation and to be

Boundaries In The United States And The Galapagos Islands
A constructive boundary is a boundary that seems to add to the surface of the earth, one example
would be mountains. These plate boundaries include continental oceanic boundary, oceanic oceanic
boundary, and continental continental boundary. For continental oceanic convergent the oceanic sinks
under the lighter continental plate and then melts into magma, this magma rises through the crust to
form volcanoes. An oceanic oceanic convergent boundary creates volcanic island chain, by the
subduction and melting of one plate then magma rises through the crust to form islands and volcanoes.
A continental continental convergent boundary is where two continental plates collide and neither of
them are dense enough to subdue so the wrinkle up to form mountains. One example of this is the
Himalayan mountains which are formed from the Indian continental plate pushing into the Eurasian
plate causing the to ruffle up into mountains.
One great example of this the Galapagos Islands which is a chain of volcanic islands located off the
coast of Ecuador. Theses islands are formed from two oceanic plates pushing against one another. The
two plates that formed this island chain are the South American and Pacific plates, the Pacific plate
subdue underneath the South American plate and melted, this magma rose to ... Show more content on

Some examples of this kind of plate boundary are, oceanic oceanic or oceanic continental convergent
boundaries which can both lead to the formation of trenches in the ocean. Continental Continental
divergent plates happen when two continental plates pull apart from another causing rock in between
them to drop deeper and deeper and if it drops low enough it may be filled with water. Oceanic
oceanic divergent two plates are pushed apart by the continual expansion of magma at the mid ocean
ridge causing it to expand and subdue underneath another plate and

Charles M. Payne s I Ve Got The Light Of Freedom
If any questions remain about whether the Mississippi freedom movement was an organic resistance
movement, then Charles M. Payne s I ve Got the Light of Freedom should remove all doubt. The
movement was created and maintained by an organizing tradition that stretched back to the early
1940s. It featured an activism of an earlier, socially invisible generation, including war veterans,
ministers, civic minded businessmen, and average laborers. Greenwood is the focus of Payne s story,
and the peak years of movement activity there were 1962 1964, which was the time local activists paid
a very heroic struggle for political access, economic justice, and social equality.

Local citizens grasped the moment and gave their support to the Student Nonviolent Coordinating
Committee (SNCC), the Mississippi Freedom Democratic Party (MFDP), the Council of Federated
Organizations (COFO) and the NAACP. Payne clearly describes the challenges and difficulties of
mobilizing a town, from door to door campaigning to captivating mass meetings, and he concludes
that Greenwood was one of the most successful cases of local leadership development.
The entire experience proved to be transformative for both individuals and organizations. Eventually,
however, by 1965, the movement lost energy. Payne points out the triggering depression to the
introduction of new participants with more selfish motives, a different moral climate, and the loss of a
sense of community. Another sign of transformation was the development of the Loyal Democrats: a
party organization that was much more moderate than the grass roots MFDP that preceded it. In
reality, the movement became a victim of its own

Finding Acceptance In White Trash Primer By Lacy Johnson
Finding Acceptance
Culture is not the only thing that defines us. As human beings, one of the most important questions
someone can ask themselves is, who am I? They can try to answer that question regarding their
culture, or where they come from. When listing out their differences and similarities with people they
encounter in life, the subject of identity and culture comes up. Literature has been a huge defining
subject when associating itself with culture. Tone, subjects, food, and the way people live is a common
aspect when regarding the human culture. People can relate to cultures and identify themselves as to
the way the story, essay or poem is written. It is a way to make people understand their culture as well.

sitting there. He keeps telling the reader over and over again that he doesn t want to shoot the

and telling him to shoot this creature, he gets excited. He then, after going against everything he
believes, shoots the elephant. These people practically clown this guy every single day by tripping him
and making fun of him behind of his back, and yet he shoots this animal because they wanted him to.
The way I looked at this situation is that the police officer in this instance wanted to fit in really bad
and got pleasure in having the crowd cheer him on and he felt like he belonged so he did something
that he felt was wrong. He did something he wouldn t normally do to fit in. That is how our society
works in this country as well. We make people do a lot of things that are against their social norms to
fit in. This is what made the poor man shoot the elephant. Even though these people mocked him and
made him feel bad, he conformed to them. The problem with that is that in order to come over to this
country, you have to practically conform to the culture of the U.S. in order to survive in the society we
live in. Another take on this is how he says that he

The employed mother in the United States makes up a significant portion of America s work force and
is an important contributor to a successful business and the economy. The CDC reports that working
mothers make up 70% of the workforce but only 10% of mothers nationally successfully breastfeed to
6 months of age (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention [CDC], n.d). Due to the increasing
demands of the economy and a push for women to stay in the workforce, many more mothers are now

It is estimated that families that breastfeed can reduce costs from 1200 1500 dollars yearly
(Breastfeeding and Lactation Support Policy, 2016). Employers also can be rewarded for encouraging
their employees to breastfeed their infants. The Department of Health and Human Services reports that
women who are able to breastfeed their infants longer have and increased attendance, reduction in
insurance claims, and a decreased loss of job knowledge and turnover (Employee Lactation Support
Program, 2016). Also significant, infants that were breastfeed for at least 4 months have a decreased
need for health care visits and antibiotics. (Hughes 2015). To increase the access for working mothers,
both the affordable care act, in the civilian sector, and the breastfeeding initiative, by the Army, have
projected strict guidelines to ensure that new mothers are able to provide the best nutrients for their
children.
One of the major components that came from the Affordable Care Act for working breastfeeding
mothers is the right for adequate space and time to pump for up to one year after birth (Wage and Hour
Division, 2016). According to the law, employers are required to have a space that is private, free from
interruptions from staff and the public, and most importantly, not a restroom (Hughes 2015). This
space does not have to be a permanent area, but has to meet above criteria.

Theme Of The Wind In The Willow
Pastoral Themes in the Wind the Willows
Pastoral works refer to a genre of literature that focuses on the bucolic aspects of nature and the
countryside. The English countryside represents the ideal location for a pastoral work. One such work
is the Edwardian children s story, The Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Grahame. Since its publication
in 1908, the story has become a beloved children s classic. However, the story represents Edwardian
society in England, and uses anthropomorphized animals to represent Edwardian men. As a pastoral
work, the events of the story occur in the English countryside, where the animals work together to care
for the wild one in their group, Mr. Toad. Mr. Toad s Wild Ride through he English countryside ...

The author used the background of a pastoral vision to help elucidate the characteristics of Edwardian
society. Mr. Toad is one of the most known characters from the work. He is extremely wealthy and
essentially bored with his life. His English country life does not offer him fulfillment. As such, he
jumps from interest to interest, quickly grabbing at new hobbies. As a wealthy landed scion, he has the
luxury of this lifestyle. From the earliest mentions of his home, Toad Hall, it becomes apparent that he
represents the landed gentry. Rat points out his home from the river. The stables are over there to the
right. That s the banqueting hall you re looking at now very old, that is. Toad is rather rich, you know
(Grahame 19). Toad quickly changes his interests, spending the money his father left him. Rat
describes this character flaw of Toad: Boating is out. He s tired of it, and done with it. I wonder what
new fad he has taken up now? (Grahame 21). Toad quickly takes up motoring as his new hobby.
Motoring referred to the hobby of driving and racing cars, something only the wealthy could afford at
this time. All of this is discussed as the characters take a slow ride down the river and then sit quietly
in the countryside. An outdoor luncheon helps to create the image of the setting. The English
countryside represents the perfect pastoral setting, and the characters all seem to enjoy

Jimmy Carter Literature Review
Jimmy Carter was a very avid Christian before, during and after his time in office. He is commonly
acknowledged of being one of the most religious presidents in history. The purpose of this literature
review is to give an overview of how academia interprets Carter s religiosity. Berggren and Rae
(2006) describe Carter as an Evangelical style president with a strong devotion to his corresponding
Evangelical Faith. He is referred to being the born again president. Carter had a born again experience
during his pre presidential life which supports he was evangelist during this part of his life. In this
experience, he questioned his faith after a failed attempt to become governor. It wasn t until his sister,
a devout evangelist, spoke to and convinced him that he had not fully dedicated himself to God, that
he had a born again realization and devoted himself to Christ. Carter s Evangelical Faith is further
supported by him referencing himself as born again and saying, I believe God wants me to be the best
politician I can be (Lindsay, 2007). Lindsay s article also reasons that at the beginning of his
presidency Carter had a high rate of evangelical approval because these people could easily connect
with like minded president. Carter s evangelism religiosity is demonstrated by these two sources
before and during his early administration but gives no insight into how might have changed during
and after his presidency. Preston (2012, 575) expands on Carter s evangelical

Summary Of Margaret Atwood s The Victory Burlesk
Madeleine Davies had once said that Margaret Atwood s female bodies are inevitably coded bodies
that tell the story of the subject s experience within a political economy that seeks to consume them,
convert them into consumers in turn, shrink them, neutralize them, silence them, and contain them
physically or metaphorically. (Davies 60). In Margaret Atwood s short story, The Victory Burlesk,
Atwood is showing just that; Atwood is demonstrating how a woman is shrunken, silenced, and
contained. This short story is bringing attention to how people feel shame for women in realization of
reality, and how there is a focus on the Good Woman and the Bad Woman , how Bad Woman are
represented.
The Victory Burlesk is a story in which a woman is on stage and reveals herself as an elderly woman,
putting on a show for one another to watch, a show in which people in the audience began to feel
shame about. I could feel shame washing through me. (Atwood 20 21), there is a woman on the stage,
making herself vulnerable for everyone to see, and yet others are shameful in this situation. Why do
others feel shame? Because there is a realization that this woman is real. That that is a actual body up
there, one that no one wants to sexualize anymore due to her age and appearance. But also because
they are not properly showing the representation of how women are shown on stage. Difference can
make one feel uncomfortable, to the point they feel shame for another person. It was seen as if

inoperative in the real, everyday world, and because he will not compromise his ideals, at all, they
have no effect upon the world: they are politically useless. (TAMU) Another Critic, Vernon
Parrington, would praise Thoreau as truly original and independent. In the 1930s, James MacKaye
would turn to the politics and denounce them, because he saw no cooperation and devoid of reason.
(TAMU) Starting, into the 1940 s there was plenty universal appeal, in the aspect of usefulness

famous writer said He was bred to no profession; he never went to church; he never voted; he refused
to pay a tax to the State; he ate no flesh; he drank no wine; he never knew the use of tobacco; and,
though a naturalist, he used neither trap nor gun. Meyers claimed that Thoreau was violent and
nonviolent which would seem to follow from the dichotomy of messages in Resistance to Civil

Symmetric Generalized Biderivations On Jordan Ideals
SYMMETRIC GENERALIZED BIDERIVATIONS ON JORDAN IDEALS
IN PRIME RINGS
AHMED ABOUBAKR* , ** AND SANTOS GONZÁLEZ**
Abstract. Let R be a prime ring with charR 6 = 2. A biadditive symmetric map B :
R × R → R is called symmetric biderivation if, for any fixed y ∈ R, the map x → B(x, y) is a
derivation. A symmetric biadditive map G : R × R → R is a symmetric generalized biderivation if for
any fixed y ∈ R, the map x → G(x, y) is a generalized derivation of R associated with the derivation
B(., y). In the present paper, we investigate the commutativity of a ring having a generalized
biderivation satisfying certain algebraic conditions. 1. Introduction
Throughout this paper R denotes an associative ring with center Z(R). Recall that R is prime if aRb =
(0) implies that a = 0 or b = 0. R is semiprime if aRa = 0 implies a = 0.
As usual, [x, y] = xy − yx denotes the commutator, and x ◦ y = xy + yx denotes the Jordan product. A
ring R is said to be n torsion free, where n 6 = 0 is a positive integer, if whenever na = 0, with a ∈ R,
then a = 0. An additive subgroup J is said to be a Jordan ideal of R if u ◦ r ∈ J, for all u ∈ J and r ∈ R.
Clearly every ideal of R is a Jordan ideal of R but the converse is not true. An additive subgroup U of
R is said to be a Lie ideal of R if [u, r] ∈ U , for all u ∈ U and r ∈ R. If charR = 2, then [x, y] = x ◦ y,
so assume through this paper charR 6 = 2.
A derivation d : R → R is an additive map such that d(xy) = d(x)y+xd(y) for all x, y ∈ R.
An additive

Budget Management Analysis Essay
Budget Management Analysis This research paper is a brief discussion of budget management
analysis. Budgeting is the key to financial management, and is the key to translates an organization
goals or plan into money. Budgeting is a rough estimate of how much a company will need to get their
work done, and provides the basis for evaluating performance, a source of motivation, coordinating
business activities, a tool for management communication and instructions to employees. Without a
budget an organization would be like a driver, driving blinded without instructions or any sense of
direction, that s how important a budget is to every organization and individual likewise (Clark, 2005).
There are several expense results with budget ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The cash budget is another aspect of budget expectation. The cash budget determines how much cash
an organization have on hand, and how much is needed to meet each expense. The cash budget will
reveal to companies the availability of any type of surplus the company has for short term
investments.
Capital expenditure budget. This budget is needed when an organization needs to invest in major
projects and equipments, such as purchases of new products, new information technology systems, in
which a management team will conduct a financial evaluation to determine whether the company s
return on investments will be met (Halliman, 2006). Lastly, we have the program budget, which
designate funds to groups that need to achieve specific goals. Program budgets do not allocate funds to
company departments, but to company s activities. Program budgets are very difficult because there
are no specifics to go on, they usually have to go by an estimate, and try to cover all aspects of
possibilities (Halliman, 2006). Since a company s budget is typically based on knowledge from their
financial history therefore, if a budget variance occurs, it can be because inaccurate estimates were
done, or one or more factors have changed unexpectedly, and the company need to make some type of
adjustments to their budget. Once a company discovered a significant budget variance, they will need
to identify the cause, and address it accordingly. For example,

The Color Of Skin, Past Ancestry, And Place Of Living
No matter how alike people may be, segregation is a way of living. As humans we typically find
ourselves separated into groups that we can identify with; from being athletic, to being artistic and
even a person s religion. Another path to separation taken by many is by a person s race. One s race
can be described in a variety of ways; color of the skin, past ancestry, and place of origin.
Discrimination is normally placed with race; this can either be a privilege or a disadvantage.
A race can be described as a group of people identified as distinct from other groups because of
supposed physical or genetic traits shared by the group. The color of one s skin is the identifier that
most of us use to distinguish ones race. The color of skin can reveal a lot about a person. It can tell
about their origin. People in Northern Europe or Japan tend to have lighter skin than people whose
ancestors are from sub Saharan Africa or Australia because the difference in sun exposure. The more
exposed ones skin is to the sun the darker it gets, along with the less exposed to the sun the lighter the
skin. Ethnicity and race are uniquely tied together; they are however two separate concepts. Race has
more to do with where a person originates while ethnicity has to do with one s culture. Culture can be
seen as a group of people s traditions, customs or beliefs. Generally, with in separate cultures, the
races of the people in the group are the same, not always though. Consequently, most

Slavery Tribulation In American History
Throughout World History, many atrocious and abominable things have happened to human beings
throughout time. Babies have been slaughtered in wars, people have been killed by severe natural
disasters, and people have even been eaten by cannibals. But nothing seems to come close in
comparison to the Transatlantic Slave Trade and what those people had to toil through. They were
mercilessly beaten, branded, and even considered less than human by their fellow humans. The slaves
of this horrific time in American History, from the 1400s to the 1860s, went through possibly the
worst tribulation in human history. Although slavery was more of an economic institution, was the
brutal treatment of slaves in the Americas necessary to keep them in line? ... Show more content on

These sadistic practices were needed to make sure that the slaves made it to their final destination
alive, whether or not they were in the best shape. Although the women were not chained down like the
men, they were horribly abused by the slave traders. The traders were allowed to rape them which led
to the women committing suicide by jumping overboard and drowning. Rape was not necessary to
scare those people into submission. Slave traders went beyond what was necessary to keep slaves.
Although at some points the slaves fought back and rebelled, the treatment of the slaves on ships
broke them down psychologically and physically. Robert Walsh reports that The height sometimes
between decks was only eighteen inches, so [they] could not turn round or even on their sides
[because] the elevation [was] less than the breadth of their shoulders; and here they are usually
chained to the decks by the neck and legs. This made the conditions so bad that many of the enslaved
people would try to kill each other by strangulation or stabbing nails into each other s heads in order to
make more space for themselves . Slave traders believed that these inhumane conditions were the
appropriate way to transfer these people because they did not think that they were fellow human

Essay On Discipline
Discipline According to Sailor (2010), Discipline comes from the Latin word disciplina, meaning
instruction or teaching to correct, strengthen, or perfect. The article talks about discipline and
punishment in the education system, whereas parents and some teachers view discipline as a
punishment while educators view it as a teaching strategy that can exclude punishment. As it stated by
Hogan (2012), True discipline, however, comes from within the child. Therefore, parents and teachers
are aware that discipline is not through punishment, but through (1) guidance and teaching, (2)
experiencing freedom, and (3) experiencing the natural consequences to his actions.

There is no freedom when discipline is there, especially with the fact that physical discipline is
strongly used by the Samoan teachers. Samoan students are afraid to do anything on their own because
they have to obey what the teacher said. Hogan (2012) stated that, This level of discipline cannot be
achieved through commands and orders, but through experiencing freedom. The students have to
experience freedom in order for them to learn how to behave instead of punishment that can lead to
something else such as death or violence in the classroom.
The importance of freedom in the classroom is that, students get to experience what is right and what
is wrong on their own (will they do it again or not?), develop themselves physically, learning how to
control themselves, and mentally and emotionally, as they practice to think of themselves. For
example, instead of getting told to think about something in a certain time, the students can think as
long as they want about the topic.

The Jewish Diaspora in Turkey: An Agent of Economic Change
On September 27, 1480, a millennia of hatred and hostility towards Spanish Jews culminated in the
establishment of tribunals to address cases of heretical depravity . These tribunals, collectively
referred to as the Spanish Inquisition, sought to eliminate deviation from Catholicism. Though Jewish
cases represented only ten percent of all cases brought before the tribunals, Jews were rarely acquitted
and, relative to other heretics were executed more frequently. Immediately following the Spanish
Inquisition, the Spanish Reconquista expelled most Jews and Moors from the Iberian peninsula. In
1492, the Spanish monarchy expelled all Jews. Modern historians estimate ... Show more content on

violence of the mob. There is no district with any considerable amount of population, no borough or
city, which has not a detachment of Janissaries to protect the Christians, Jews, and other helpless
people from outrage and wrong. With such protection, the Jewish manufacturing industry flourished.

Home is where you feel loved, appreciated, and safe (Tracey Taylor). Home can be a great place, but
an unsafe, unsupportive home can be detrimental to a child. Kids have their life shaped for them. They
will do what they see, and believe what they hear. In the novel The Pigman by Paul Zindel, John and
Lorraine both grow up and live in homes that don t provide them with anything healthy. Kids and
teens that live in homes like John and Lorraine s are bound to follow in their parents footsteps. Having
a safe, comfortable home is extremely important. Unsafe homes often expose kids to bad habits and
behavior. Unfortunately, John has been exposed to abusive drinking and behavior his whole life. It has
become his normal, he and his family, all alcoholics. John even discloses that, Bore got a big kick out

The Feminist Critique Of The Dominant Social Scientific...
3) What are the contributions of Smith and Collins to the feminist critique of the dominant social
scientific approaches?
Sociology, its thoughts it methods, conceptual schemes and theories have been based on and built up
within the male social universe, even when women have participated in its doing. There is thus a
disjunction between how women experience the world and the concepts and theoretical schemes by
which society s self consciousness is inscribed. The worlds of men have had and still have an authorit

Emerson And Conformity
The well known essayist, Ralph Waldo Emerson, exerted his beliefs that conformity is something that
independent individuals should not participate in through out his essay of Self Reliance . The Merriam
Webster dictionary defines conformity as, behavior that is the same as the behavior of most other
people in a society, group, etc. ( Conformity ). Emerson s primary concern with conformity was the
overbearing control that society had on a free individual. I agree that we should not change our morals
and values if pressured from outside forces. However, society, even though it is merely a concept
created by the human brain, is something that holds a country together. Without society, people would
make everyday life very complicated and chaotic. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Emerson is trying to explain here that each individual is responsible for accepting information.
Emerson would argue that no one can force any ideas in which you do not agree because they are not
sacred or viewed with accuracy by your own mind. However, when people disagree, they should not
have any feelings of remorse because to be individualistic, the person must outline what he or she
believes and stick to it. I agree with Emerson on the behalf of religious morals because as a Christian,
we are called to keep to our faith, Cling to your faith in Christ, and keep your conscience clear. For
some people have deliberately violated their consciences; as a result, their faith has been shipwrecked
(New Living Translation Bible Tim. 1.19). Here, the Bible is showing that sticking to faith and having
a Christian outlook on life is necessary. Without these foundations in our walk with God then our faith
in God will be skewed. So sticking to something that we believe in is a depiction of Emerson s
viewpoint. However, I have internal conflict with Emerson on the basis of nothing is accepted but that
in which we believe. The influential David Meyers showed us that in group bias is basically the
acceptance or support of some group(s) (100). Meyers gives us a great example that not everything
that we accept has to be accepted by our own mind. There are in group biases in which all humans
connect to even though we are oblivious to them most of the time. For example, we might connect
more with people of our race because as a in group bias, those are the people we are around more
often. This is not a racist standpoint but rather an immediate connection with someone who we
unknowingly think is similar to us. Conformity is something that Emerson despises throughout his
essay and it crucial to understand why nonconformity is disliked in

Analysis Of The Poem Ode Of Spring By John Keats Essay
In the poem Ode to Autumn by John Keats, my initial thoughts of this work is how the author does a
beautiful job describing the season. The way that he makes his words come to life. The poem makes
you feel as if you are right there in the midst of autumn. As I read through the poem, it was as if I
could inhale the autumn air. I think the thing that I loved most about this piece is the mere fact that it
is my most favorite season of the year. When the poem talks about the songs of spring, it tells you to
think not of them. In other words, this is the season of autumn and it too has its own songs to sing. We
shouldn t rush through this amazing season, but yet slow down and enjoy each moment that it brings
us. The Romantic relationship of nature and soul communicated in one of two ways. The landscape
was, on one hand viewed as an expansion of the human identity, equipped for sensitivity for man s
enthusiastic state. On other hand, nature was viewed as a vehicle for soul just as man; the breath of
God fills both man and the earth (Hanson, 2015). Keats stood out in the early nineteenth century
Romanticism, a development that embraced the sacredness of emotion and creative energy and
privileged the magnificence of the natural world (John Keats, n.d.).
In the attempt of bringing old ways to gain new knowledge John Keats wrote the Romanticism style
poem, Ode to Autumn . With the many literary devices available to the Romantics, poetry was the
most favored (Keats,

Savanna By Corey Carter A savanna is a grassland ecosystem characterized by the trees being
sufficiently widely spaced so that the canopy does not close. It receives less precipitation that tropical
dry forests, but more than deserts; usually has a distinct rainy season. The open canopy allows
sufficient light to reach the ground to support an unbroken herbaceous layer consisting primarily of
grasses. Savannas have a very warm temperature year round. There are actually two very different

Themes Of The Time Machine
Once in my basketball game, my team was losing by many points. However, we never gave up and
started to make a comeback. The crowd was getting louder as the final seconds approached. There was
2 seconds left, and Julien Flores shot the ball. Swoosh. We had won the game because we never gave
up. Persevering through obstacles is the major theme in H.G. Wells novel titled, The Time Machine .
This novel is about a time traveler who traveled far into the future and encountered strange humanoid
creatures. The world was very different and another species called the Morlocks had stolen his Time
Machine. The Time Traveler persevered through this and he eventually got his Time Machine back
and he travelled back home.
An example of the main theme in The Time Machine being how you should persevere through
obstacles is found on page 104 and H.G. Wells states, So I came back. For a long time I must have
been insensible upon the machine. This evidence show show the main theme of the Time Machine is
that you should never give up because the Time Traveler has been trying to get home for a long time
and he never gave up. He was eventually able to get home and this shows how since the time traveler
was able to get home because he persevered, the main theme in the novel is that you should never give
up. Another piece of evidence that H.G. Wells includes is on page 1 and it states, There I object, said

The Biography Of Adam Smith
The Biography of Adam Smith Adam Smith was born in Kirkcaldy, Scotland in the year 1923, and
died in the year 1790 at the age of 67 (Stewart, 1861). His exact date of birth is unknown but was
baptized on 5th June 1723. His father was a prosecutor, advocate, and solicitor but passed on two
months after his birth, leaving his mother to bring him up. His mother, Margaret Douglas, played a
great role in his upbringing, especially in education. He joined the Burgh school where he learned
history, writing, Latin and mathematics. He went to the University of Glasgow at the age of 14 where
he studied moral philosophy; he also established his passion for reason, free speech and liberty
(Stewart, 1861). In 1740, he entered Balliol College, Oxford where he undertook his postgraduate
studies and became the first student to gain from the scholarship of John Snell. Conversely, his studies
at Balliol College, Oxford did not contribute a lot towards his lifework as compared to his studies at
Glasgow University (Stewart, 1861). His professional life began in 1748 when he began giving
lectures in Edinburgh with the approval of Lord Kames. He met with David Hume in 1750 who
remained one of his closest friends and source of influence in his professional life. Doors opened for

relations form the basis of how we understand ourselves in the world, it figures is should also form a

Through active engagement with students, teachers assess students competencies and continually
adjust the guidance and learning support as necessary (O Donnell, 2012, p. 114). This is where
Vygotsky s zone of proximal development (ZPD) becomes a valuable theoretical tool. The ZPD is the
distance between the actual developmental level , as specified by autonomous problem solving, and
the level of possible development determined via problem solving in collaboration with more capable
peers (Schunk, 2012, p. 243). According to Vygotsky, the ZPD is critical to teaching for it is where
cognitive development occurs (O Donnell, 2012, p. 114). Teaching in the ZPD requires the teacher and
student to share cultural tools. However, students do not passively receive cultural knowledge from
these mediated interactions (Schunk, 2012). Students come to the exchange with their own
understandings to social interactions and construct meanings by integrating those understandings with
their experiences in the context (Schunk, 2012, p. 244). The ZPD very clearly establishes learning as a
moment situated in a social exchange. It also establishes the role of the teacher as not only guide, but
as assessor of the ZPD. This requires constant dialectic engagement on the teachers behalf. Perhaps
what is missing in terms of a constructivist approach in Jane s class is that while she does offer the

`` Brave New World `` By Aldous Huxley
John the Savage is the only person in this new world society born naturally from a mother and not
from a factory, John is a unique human being with an identity and a family relationship unlike any
other character in Aldous Huxley s novel, Brave New World . Even though he is the son of two upper
class utopians, he grows up in the depths of Malpais: The Savage Reservation. Torn between two
cultures, John is not truly a part of the savage society or of the new world society. His only society is
an imaginative world built around Shakespeare s books. John is the ultimate outsider and his life is
filled with confusion and struggle.
Although he does not appear until chapter seven of Brave New World , John is the protagonist of the
story and the symbol of the old world society. The outer appearance of John can reveal the struggle
within him. He may be dressed like a savage, but his light colored skin, blonde hair, and blue eyes
betray his origin. He was born on the Savage Reservation to Linda, a Beta minus who had lived in the
new world society before being abandoned on the reservation by the Director of Hatcheries and
Conditioning (The D.H.C.). The Director does not even know of his existence until John later appears
in London as an adult. His life on the reservation is miserable, because he is not accepted by the other
savages and cannot understand the lifestyle that his mother lives. As a result, he is isolated and desires
for something and somewhere to belong to.

Analysis Of Negotiating Problematic Identity Essay
The paper titled Negotiating Problematic Identity: The Queer Voyage in Thomas Mann s Death in
Venice is a phenomenological reading of queer experience in Death in Venice. The central character,
Gustav Von Aschenbach is portrayed as having fallen a victim of his own unnatural obsession with
beautiful boy, Tadzio. His love for the boy is seen as the culmination of his decline both as an artist
and as a human being. Phenomenology is concerned with the ways in which people experience their
lives and with the mental structures that give meaning to those experiences. Edmund Husserl believed
that it is futile to attempt to understand either the mind or the world in isolation from one another.
According to him, there exists an interdependent realtionship between the mind and the world. He also
says that it is the relationship in which mental states are defined by the objects of experience and the
objects of experience are shaped by the mental states. This paper focuses on the feelings, experiences,
emotions and self identification of Gustav Von Aschenbach as he voyages through the contours of his
self and various objects of experiences. It attempts to place him in what Heidegger calls Dasein ; thus,
giving him a sense of identity (more exactly a queer identity). His conscious experience could be seen
as Authentic Dasein (as Heidegger calls it) with the full knowledge of its mortality.
Key words: Dasein, Being, phenomena, identity.

Civic Democracy
By threatening to change the composition of the receiving nation in a more profound manner, large
scale immigration inevitably raises the question of collective self identification: Who are we? and
What defines us? Even within stable liberal democracies, it is difficult to obtain a consistent answer to
these questions, although the responses likely influence who is allowed to enter a nation and how they
are perceived. Kohn (1944), Smith (1981, 1983, 1990), Castles and Miller (1993), and Shulman
(2002) have developed a perspective that defines societies, including their anticipated forms of
national identity, in terms of similar historical backgrounds. Reflecting the content of these shared
characteristics, three basic forms of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Betz (1998: 8) argues that the electoral success of the radical right, anti immigrant parties reflects to a
large extent the psychological strain associated with uncertainties produced by large scale socio
economic and socio structural change. When negative economic and social trends appear at the
national level, some individuals respond by demanding more restrictive immigration policies
(McLaren 2003; Money 1997; Olzak 1992; Quillian 1995). National institutions often influence and
also are influenced by these negative reactions toward newcomers. Prominent opinion leaders, both in
the government and in the media, who oppose immigration and immigrants rights often condemn
immigrants for problems ranging from unemployment to waning public education. Their critics often
argue that while these social and economic problems may be real, placing the sole blame on
immigrants is a form of scapegoating. Although anti immigrant sentiments often coexist with
xenophobia, racism, and/or nativism, competition or the threat of economic competition can also
provoke negative attitudes towards immigrants (Bonacich 1972; Olzak 1992). This is often referred to
as ethnic competition theory. Some of the common economic rationales offered by individuals and
groups who oppose open borders and the immigrants who accompany them include job loss and wage
depression.

Tankless Research Paper
Many people switch over to tankless gas hot water heaters believing them to be more efficient and
energy saving. However, it is important to realize that while a tankless gas hot water heater can be
more energy efficient, they do not use significantly less energy than regular devises for heating water.
If you only switching to a tankless gas hot water heater to save some money, then you will most likely
be a bit disappointed.
On the other hand, many people have found that natural gas tankless heat the water faster than regular
heaters, especially if you purchase a high quality heater. Many of these cost well under $1,000 if you
purchase them online. If you are unfamiliar with particular brand names or models, you may want to
look up online reviews; many online ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If you purchase one that is too small, it will not adequately heat the water; if the heater is too large, it
will waste energy. On the other hand, many online retail websites post a blurb under the thumbnail
photo of the product, explaining the particulars of each tankless. Reading the description can help you
to see whether a particular model is suitable for your needs.
If you want to save a considerable amount of money, then you should consider installing the tankless
hot water heater on your own instead of having a professional come and do it for you. If you have a bit
of experience with DIY home improvement projects and the tools needed for the job, you can actually
install the tankless heater without professional assistance. You will need first of all to shut off the
water and gas supply. After that, remove the heater cover and screw the body on to the wall. You will
need to connect the water supply, hot water supply and gas supply line to the heater, and you will want
to test the heater out before putting the cover

Football As Sport Of Masses
Football is the most popular sports in the world. The game was born in England with the formation of
the Football Association, and the same rules still apply since 1863. The word soccer was derived from
Association . the first game ever played under the Association rules was between Richmond and
Barnes and the final score was 0 0. FIFA is the association that states the rules. FIFA stands for
Fédération Internationale de Football Association). Rules Football as sport of masses According to a
study conducted by FIFA in 2006, 2 270 million people worldwide are actively involved in football,
including players, referees and directors. Of these, 265 million people play the sport. This represents
about 4% of world population. This numbers make Football one of the most popular sports in the
world. Why did I choose this topic. Football is made of passion and it gathers masses of people. The
introduction of technologies in sports will help to reduce the human error and eradicate those errors.
Goal line technology determines when the ball has crossed the line. Cases In 1966 England played
East Germany in the final of the world cup. The Game was tied in Wembley 2 2 and with eleven
minutes of extra time Geoff Hurst swivelled and shot from close range. The ball hit the underside of
the cross bar and bounced down, apparently on or just over the line and was cleared. After the ball hit
the underside of the crossbar and bounced down over the line those referees had no

Fox News Equals Media Equals Fear of Death Equals Adultery Malcolm X once said The media s the
most powerful entity on earth. They have the power to make the innocent guilty and to make the guilty
innocent, and that s power. Because they control the minds of the masses. The media reaches out to all
places and affects everyone. It changes how we think and what we do. In the novel White Noise, Don
Delillo uses Babette s moral ambiguity, conveyed through her decisions and actions, to reveal the
influence that media has on the internal conflict between one s self interest and morality.
Within everyone, there exists a constant friction between one s self interest and morality. At first,
Babette emerges as a caring and honest character. Described by Jack as a gift bearer of great things as
the world generally reckons them (5), Babette does acts of charity in her free time. A few of her
pastimes are [gathering] and [tending] the children, [teaching] a course in an adult education program
(5) and she also reads to an elderly [blind] man... from the [tabloids] (5). Babette s honesty and
sincerity is made more apparent by her foils, Jack Gladney s past wives. Her physique, described as
being slightly overweight with a head full of messy hair, further helps her appear amiable and likeable.
However, a closer look at Babette s intentions reveals her neutral personality. She reads to [the]

Argumentative Speech On Fast Food
My fellow citizens, as Americans, we proudly call ourselves the greatest nation in the world the
pioneers and forward thinkers of the western civilization. So I ask you, why are we the second most
overweight nation in the world? This is a raging epidemic which has caused one 1/3 of us to be
overweight and further 35% of us to plunge into obesity! It is damaging both our economy and more
importantly our wellbeing. Approximately $190 billion is spent in extra obesity related medical
expenses per year within America. It s not just us; it s affecting our children, the next generation of
pioneers and forward thinkers, the children of America. 7% of American children are already obese! I
am here today to propose the idea of banning the fast food production industry. ... Show more content

Is it the temptation of the shortcuts that modern technology can provide to make life so efficient and
easy? Yes. But I believe that the driving force behind obesity in America today is the fast food
production industry. We are faced with a country whereby the adults of Mississippi cannot manage to
eat even 1 piece fruit per day; it s not surprising that they are the most overweight state in America. In
North Dakota, there are 0.85 McDonalds per thousand residents and, unsurprisingly, they have a 31%
obesity rate, however in Utah, where the obesity rate is only 24.1%, and they have the lowest high
school obesity rate at 6.1%, there is just half a McDonalds per every thousand resident. There is a
clear correlation showing. As the fast food industry has become bigger, so have we. In 1972, we spent
3 billion a year on fast food today we spend more than $110 billion. In every single state, the obesity
rate has risen drastically in this same time

Democracy In Canada
Democracy for the Best Canada
In a country abundant with natural resources, a bright and competent population, and a kind, revered
reputation, the shared thoughts of a well educated and astute leader and one s cabinet sharing the same
characteristics is critical. Our country is based on an multicultural population with differing views and
ways of life, considering the the priceless value of the the Canada s assets, it is imperative that it is
handled in the best way possible, and, as time goes on, the ones involved in the control of our country
will become more apt, leading to better control of our issues over time. European, Asian, African: all
with varying religions, perspectives, ways of being, and all have important roles in our diverse, hard

Democracy will give way for this careful and time consuming analyzation so the best decision can be
made, which is critical in managing Canada s important goods. Lastly, the minds behind these
decisions will be made better over time as the they develop experience. As with all things, everything
is learnt and made better from doing so, and as democracy is based on creative thinking and analyzing,
it will work the brains of those involved in it so that decisions will be made of a higher quality and at a
faster pace as time goes on. Canada s current government is an example, as motions put into act at the
beginning of Trudeau s reign took a lot longer to pass the ones currently going through. Meaning that
Canada will be able to make better, faster decisions over time. In conclusion, Canada is in need of a
leadership style that involves a myriad of varying voices that can make the best decisions for Canada
and improve over time. A leadership style of which democracy can effectively provide, all paving way

Miss Brill Commentary
Miss Brill by Katherine Mansfield illustrates the story of a woman who goes out out on a Sunday
afternoon and sees the world as a play, with everyone and herself acting out their roles. She wears a
fur which the author mentions throughout the story, and Miss Brill s realization of her loneliness is
only shown at the end of the story as she takes it off. Mansfield employs the techniques of
characterization, imagery, and motifs to express the theme of human alienation in society.
Mansfield uses the technique of characterization to express how the character Miss Brill is eccentric,
judgmental, and in denial of herself, that she isn t what she thinks she is. Miss Brill is characterized as
jubilant, as she describes her fur as a little ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Once they insult her fur, Miss Brill doesn t express her feelings of alienation from society, but the
description of her room added to her crying exhibits a significant change in mood from the beginning
of the short story, when she was excited to spend her afternoon on the bench.
Miss Brill s fur is a motif throughout the story, making significance as it is what Miss Brill puts on as
her mask to go out and try to fit in. At the beginning, Miss Brill had taken it out of its box that
afternoon, shaken out the moth powder, given it a good brush, and rubbed the life back into the dim
little eyes. Mansfield illustrates Miss Brill s peppiness, and she is as happy to wear her own fur as she
is to go out on her Sunday afternoons to take part in the play and act like she has a place in society;
even though others don t see her the same way she sees herself. She had previously described her fur
as luxurious, admiring it, though the young girl she was admiring says It s her fu ur which is so funny,
... It s exactly like a fried whiting. . Miss Brill thinks she s a part of the play and has confidence when
she wears the fur, but other characters don t see the same way she does. Mansfield shows the reader
that what Miss Brill thinks is not necessarily true, as the story is told in third person limited. Miss Brill
s mask that she puts on is her fur, and when she goes home, she turns back into the person she really
is. Mansfield

The Craft Essay
The Craft (1996), directed by Andrew Fleming, is a film that depicts Sarah Bailey s journey of
friendship, witchcraft and self actualization. As the newcomer in town at a quintessential school, she is
quickly out casted; however, eventually finds solace in the Eastwick Bitches: Nancy, Bonnie and
Rochelle. The quartet bands together to strengthen their witchcraft, but soon find themselves
overwhelmed by the ramifications of their powers. In the article New Religious Movements, by Paul

text references as the notion of the beautiful witch [being] best understood within the context of
misogynistic discourse. As the girls progress from natural magic, us[ing] things like herbs, crystals

specifically in the film the deity Manon, the more they perpetuate materialistic characteristics. Bonnie,
the initially timid and kind hearted character, becomes confident and powerful once she eradicates the
burn scars that once covered her body. This stark transformation is extremely detrimental to the
progression of feminism because it perpetuates the idea that topical beauty is the only key to attention,
power and high levels of confidence for a woman. This depiction of beauty standards reinforces the
notion that traditionally unattractive women have no voice and that attractive women are the winners
of society those that curate male attention and power and exude confidence. Therefore, The Craft
(1996), exemplifies the perpetuation of falsified beauty standards for women via its consequential use

Loss Of Children In The Stone Boy By Gina Berriault
The Stone Boy
Way too often we see kids who are neglected emotionally after a tragic event, and how negatively it
effects them later on. It forces them to give up their innocent childhood. That is exactly what happens
in Gina Berriault s short story The Stone Boy . The story is about a 9 year old boy who accidently
shoots his older brother dead. The boy shows no emotion, whatsoever, and it is clear the grownups do
not understand him, so he is labeled with words like cruel . He does not understand his feelings and he
loses his identity when his mother rejects him in a way no mother should. So he is left alone,
beginning to believe that he is actually cruel.

When the accident happens, we see Arnold go into some state of shock and his actions after this point
are described as mechanically . This is a way for Arnold to shut off his feelings so he does not have to
feel the great grief of the loss of his brother. The Sheriff and the parents misinterpret his way of
dealing with his sorrow, and instead they label the boy as cruel. Arnold is already in between identities
because of the accident, which threw him out of the childish innocence, so he needs his parent s
guidance and comfort more than ever. He is very insecure, and in the interview, he relies completely
on his father s answers. However, when his parents believe he is cruel, he thinks it must be right, so he
takes on this new identity.
This new identity is described in the title as the stone boy , but this is not at all the boy we meet in the
beginning, so Arnold goes through quite a change in the short story.
There is also a transformation in Arnold s identity from day to night. In the daytime, we see a kid who
does not show any emotions. He does not seem to regret his brother s

Weak Arguments in Cosmological Argument by Thomas Aquinas
Many philosophers have posed the question: How can I prove that God exists? Thomas Aquinas
attempted to prove the existence of God in a rational way through his Cosmological argument.
Aquinas argued that every event as we observe it has a cause and a casual chain cannot be infinite.
Therefore, a first cause is necessary and this cause is God. Aquinas argument is unsuccessful because
it assumes that God is a necessary being, fails to prove that the world is not an infinite chain of events,
and undermines the basis of his argument by saying that God is infinite. Aquinas argued the existence
of God with five main points. Aquinas began by saying that nothing can be a cause of itself; rather
every event was caused by some prior event. Therefore event A causes event B that leads to event C
and so forth. He believed in this cause and effect relationship but believed that there must be a first
cause as a starting point. When contemplating this starting point Aquinas rejected the possibility of an
infinite series of events. This means that the universe has not existed forever and there must have been
something from which every single event stems. There must be an uncaused first cause, which
Aquinas concluded to be God. The first cause is called the unmoved mover. The unmoved mover is
what set all other events and beings in motion.
The arguments made by Aquinas at first seem to be powerful. However, when examining and taking a
closer look the arguments don t seem to be as

  • 3. Essay Intrusion Detection Systems Intrusion Detection Systems In 1980, James Anderson s paper, Computer Security Threat Monitoring and Surveillance, bore the notion of intrusion detection. Through government funding and serious corporate interest allowed for intrusion detection systems(IDS) to develope into their current state. So what exactly is IDS? An IDS is used to detect malicious network traffic and computer usage through attack signatures. The IDS watches for attacks not only from incoming internet traffic but also for attacks that originate in the system. When a potential attack is detected the IDS logs the information and sends an alert to the console. How the alert is detected and handled at is dependent on the type of IDS in place. Through this paper we ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With NIDS the system attempts to detect threats and attacks, such as denial of service attacks, port scans and attempts to hack into computers by monitoring the network traffic in real time through a promiscuous connection. It does so by first filtering out all known non malicious traffic and then analyzing the remaining incoming packets for suspicious patterns that could be threats. It is not however limited to just analyzing incoming packets, the system also analyzes the outgoing local traffic, in case of an attack/threat that originates inside of the local network. Snort is an example of this. Host based intrusion detection systems unlike network intrusion detection systems, which focus on a computing system s external interfaces, host based systems focus on the monitoring and examination of the computing system s internals. Host based systems are more concerned with the changes in state of a computing system. It detects these changes by analyzing system specific logs either in real time or periodically. When there is any change in the logs the IDS will compare the current configuration of the security policy to the changes and react accordingly. An example of this would be tripwire. Protocol based intrusion detection systems (PIDS) monitor the dynamic behavior and state of the protocol. In a typical setup there is a system or agent sitting at the front end of the server. This agent or system monitors the communication protocol between the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Frankenstein-Fall Narrative And The Story Of... The Genesis Fall narrative and the story of Frankenstein offer the reader to make a good comparison between those two texts. The author of the Frankenstein s monster story has made an outstanding plot and context for the reader to always looking back at what The Genesis Fall told us and started to compare the messages that have been brought to reach the understanding of the reader. However, there is still a slight similarity and difference in terms of some contexts of creation stated in both texts. The comparison such as life creation, the treatment of creator towards creation and how the Frankenstein Fall myth has shaped contemporary perspectives on techno science and ethics will be further discussed in this paper. At the very opening of the Genesis, it discusses how God created the earth within six days. Then, it also explains how God created the nature life on earth as well as created the very first human being, Adam which proves His power and role as a creator of creation. (Moses, Genesis, p.1). In related with this, in the story of Frankenstein, Victor was trying to take a role of God to become a creator. He becomes captivated with the pursuit of creating and discovering his ability to create something after mastering the modern science by bringing a repulsive monster to life. In one of the scenes in the movie of Frankenstein (1931), he expressed his feeling of victory after successfully gave a life to the monster; FRANKENSTEIN: Oh, in the name of God! Now I know what it feels like to be God! The creation of the monster could be taken metaphorically to Victor s eating the prohibited fruit. Victor also can be classified as Adam who ate the forbidden fruit from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil because his searching of wisdom to creating a life is something that out of his knowledge and it is not his responsibility to learn what is not mean for him. As God had warned Adam that he can eat any kind of fruits he wanted to but not the fruit from the Tree of Conscience because if he does so, he will be knowing the good and evil which only mean to be a God s knowledge (Moses, Genesis, p.2). Upon the creation of life, it is important for the creator to know the purpose of his creation and to be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Boundaries In The United States And The Galapagos Islands A constructive boundary is a boundary that seems to add to the surface of the earth, one example would be mountains. These plate boundaries include continental oceanic boundary, oceanic oceanic boundary, and continental continental boundary. For continental oceanic convergent the oceanic sinks under the lighter continental plate and then melts into magma, this magma rises through the crust to form volcanoes. An oceanic oceanic convergent boundary creates volcanic island chain, by the subduction and melting of one plate then magma rises through the crust to form islands and volcanoes. A continental continental convergent boundary is where two continental plates collide and neither of them are dense enough to subdue so the wrinkle up to form mountains. One example of this is the Himalayan mountains which are formed from the Indian continental plate pushing into the Eurasian plate causing the to ruffle up into mountains. One great example of this the Galapagos Islands which is a chain of volcanic islands located off the coast of Ecuador. Theses islands are formed from two oceanic plates pushing against one another. • 7. Charles M. Payne s I Ve Got The Light Of Freedom If any questions remain about whether the Mississippi freedom movement was an organic resistance movement, then Charles M. Payne s I ve Got the Light of Freedom should remove all doubt. The movement was created and maintained by an organizing tradition that stretched back to the early 1940s. It featured an activism of an earlier, socially invisible generation, including war veterans, ministers, civic minded businessmen, and average laborers. Greenwood is the focus of Payne s story, and the peak years of movement activity there were 1962 1964, which was the time local activists paid a very heroic struggle for political access, economic justice, and social equality. The entire experience proved to be transformative for both individuals and organizations. Eventually, however, by 1965, the movement lost energy. Payne points out the triggering depression to the introduction of new participants with more selfish motives, a different moral climate, and the loss of a sense of community. Another sign of transformation was the development of the Loyal Democrats: a party organization that was much more moderate than the grass roots MFDP that preceded it. As human beings, one of the most important questions someone can ask themselves is, who am I? They can try to answer that question regarding their culture, or where they come from. When listing out their differences and similarities with people they encounter in life, the subject of identity and culture comes up. Literature has been a huge defining subject when associating itself with culture. Tone, subjects, food, and the way people live is a common aspect when regarding the human culture. People can relate to cultures and identify themselves as to the way the story, essay or poem is written. It is a way to make people understand their culture as well. The use of literature ... He then, after going against everything he believes, shoots the elephant. These people practically clown this guy every single day by tripping him and making fun of him behind of his back, and yet he shoots this animal because they wanted him to. The way I looked at this situation is that the police officer in this instance wanted to fit in really bad and got pleasure in having the crowd cheer him on and he felt like he belonged so he did something that he felt was wrong. He did something he wouldn t normally do to fit in. That is how our society works in this country as well. We make people do a lot of things that are against their social norms to fit in. This is what made the poor man shoot the elephant. Even though these people mocked him and made him feel bad, he conformed to them. The problem with that is that in order to come over to this country, you have to practically conform to the culture of the U.S. in order to survive in the society we live in. He is extremely wealthy and essentially bored with his life. His English country life does not offer him fulfillment. As such, he jumps from interest to interest, quickly grabbing at new hobbies. As a wealthy landed scion, he has the luxury of this lifestyle. From the earliest mentions of his home, Toad Hall, it becomes apparent that he represents the landed gentry. Rat points out his home from the river. The stables are over there to the right. That s the banqueting hall you re looking at now very old, that is. Toad is rather rich, you know (Grahame 19). Toad quickly changes his interests, spending the money his father left him. Rat describes this character flaw of Toad: Boating is out. He s tired of it, and done with it. I wonder what new fad he has taken up now? (Grahame 21). Toad quickly takes up motoring as his new hobby. Motoring referred to the hobby of driving and racing cars, something only the wealthy could afford at this time. All of this is discussed as the characters take a slow ride down the river and then sit quietly in the countryside. An outdoor luncheon helps to create the image of the setting. Carter had a born again experience during his pre presidential life which supports he was evangelist during this part of his life. In this experience, he questioned his faith after a failed attempt to become governor. It wasn t until his sister, a devout evangelist, spoke to and convinced him that he had not fully dedicated himself to God, that he had a born again realization and devoted himself to Christ. Carter s Evangelical Faith is further supported by him referencing himself as born again and saying, I believe God wants me to be the best politician I can be (Lindsay, 2007). Lindsay s article also reasons that at the beginning of his presidency Carter had a high rate of evangelical approval because these people could easily connect with like minded president. Carter s evangelism religiosity is demonstrated by these two sources before and during his early administration but gives no insight into how might have changed during and after his presidency. • 15. Summary Of Margaret Atwood s The Victory Burlesk Madeleine Davies had once said that Margaret Atwood s female bodies are inevitably coded bodies that tell the story of the subject s experience within a political economy that seeks to consume them, convert them into consumers in turn, shrink them, neutralize them, silence them, and contain them physically or metaphorically. (Davies 60). In Margaret Atwood s short story, The Victory Burlesk, Atwood is showing just that; Atwood is demonstrating how a woman is shrunken, silenced, and contained. This short story is bringing attention to how people feel shame for women in realization of reality, and how there is a focus on the Good Woman and the Bad Woman , how Bad Woman are represented. The Victory Burlesk is a story in which a woman is on stage and reveals herself as an elderly woman, putting on a show for one another to watch, a show in which people in the audience began to feel shame about. I could feel shame washing through me. (Atwood 20 21), there is a woman on the stage, making herself vulnerable for everyone to see, and yet others are shameful in this situation. Why do others feel shame? Because there is a realization that this woman is real. That that is a actual body up there, one that no one wants to sexualize anymore due to her age and appearance. But also because they are not properly showing the representation of how women are shown on stage. Difference can make one feel uncomfortable, to the point they feel shame for another person. • 17. Symmetric Generalized Biderivations On Jordan Ideals SYMMETRIC GENERALIZED BIDERIVATIONS ON JORDAN IDEALS IN PRIME RINGS AHMED ABOUBAKR* , ** AND SANTOS GONZÁLEZ** Abstract. Let R be a prime ring with charR 6 = 2. A biadditive symmetric map B : R × R → R is called symmetric biderivation if, for any fixed y ∈ R, the map x → B(x, y) is a derivation. A symmetric biadditive map G : R × R → R is a symmetric generalized biderivation if for any fixed y ∈ R, the map x → G(x, y) is a generalized derivation of R associated with the derivation B(., y). In the present paper, we investigate the commutativity of a ring having a generalized biderivation satisfying certain algebraic conditions. 1. Introduction Throughout this paper R denotes an associative ring with center Z(R). Recall that R is prime if aRb = (0) implies that a = 0 or b = 0. R is semiprime if aRa = 0 implies a = 0. As usual, [x, y] = xy − yx denotes the commutator, and x ◦ y = xy + yx denotes the Jordan product. A ring R is said to be n torsion free, where n 6 = 0 is a positive integer, if whenever na = 0, with a ∈ R, then a = 0. An additive subgroup J is said to be a Jordan ideal of R if u ◦ r ∈ J, for all u ∈ J and r ∈ R. Clearly every ideal of R is a Jordan ideal of R but the converse is not true. An additive subgroup U of R is said to be a Lie ideal of R if [u, r] ∈ U , for all u ∈ U and r ∈ R. If charR = 2, then [x, y] = x ◦ y, so assume through this paper charR 6 = 2. A derivation d : R → R is an additive map such that d(xy) = d(x)y+xd(y) for all x, y ∈ R. An additive ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This budget is needed when an organization needs to invest in major projects and equipments, such as purchases of new products, new information technology systems, in which a management team will conduct a financial evaluation to determine whether the company s return on investments will be met (Halliman, 2006). As humans we typically find ourselves separated into groups that we can identify with; from being athletic, to being artistic and even a person s religion. Another path to separation taken by many is by a person s race. One s race can be described in a variety of ways; color of the skin, past ancestry, and place of origin. Discrimination is normally placed with race; this can either be a privilege or a disadvantage. A race can be described as a group of people identified as distinct from other groups because of supposed physical or genetic traits shared by the group. Emerson s primary concern with conformity was the overbearing control that society had on a free individual. I agree that we should not change our morals and values if pressured from outside forces. Emerson is trying to explain here that each individual is responsible for accepting information. Emerson would argue that no one can force any ideas in which you do not agree because they are not sacred or viewed with accuracy by your own mind. However, when people disagree, they should not have any feelings of remorse because to be individualistic, the person must outline what he or she believes and stick to it. I agree with Emerson on the behalf of religious morals because as a Christian, we are called to keep to our faith, Cling to your faith in Christ, and keep your conscience clear. For some people have deliberately violated their consciences; as a result, their faith has been shipwrecked (New Living Translation Bible Tim. 1.19). Here, the Bible is showing that sticking to faith and having a Christian outlook on life is necessary. Without these foundations in our walk with God then our faith in God will be skewed. So sticking to something that we believe in is a depiction of Emerson s viewpoint. However, I have internal conflict with Emerson on the basis of nothing is accepted but that in which we believe. The influential David Meyers showed us that in group bias is basically the acceptance or support of some group(s) (100). Meyers gives us a great example that not everything that we accept has to be accepted by our own mind. There are in group biases in which all humans connect to even though we are oblivious to them most of the time. For example, we might connect more with people of our race because as a in group bias, those are the people we are around more often. I think the thing that I loved most about this piece is the mere fact that it is my most favorite season of the year. When the poem talks about the songs of spring, it tells you to think not of them. In other words, this is the season of autumn and it too has its own songs to sing. We shouldn t rush through this amazing season, but yet slow down and enjoy each moment that it brings us. The Romantic relationship of nature and soul communicated in one of two ways. The landscape was, on one hand viewed as an expansion of the human identity, equipped for sensitivity for man s enthusiastic state. On other hand, nature was viewed as a vehicle for soul just as man; the breath of God fills both man and the earth (Hanson, 2015). Keats stood out in the early nineteenth century Romanticism, a development that embraced the sacredness of emotion and creative energy and privileged the magnificence of the natural world (John Keats, n.d.). Teaching in the ZPD requires the teacher and student to share cultural tools. However, students do not passively receive cultural knowledge from these mediated interactions (Schunk, 2012). Students come to the exchange with their own understandings to social interactions and construct meanings by integrating those understandings with their experiences in the context (Schunk, 2012, p. 244). The ZPD very clearly establishes learning as a moment situated in a social exchange. It also establishes the role of the teacher as not only guide, but as assessor of the ZPD. This requires constant dialectic engagement on the teachers behalf. Perhaps what is missing in terms of a constructivist approach in Jane s class is that while she does offer the students an opportunity to chose their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The committee then views vendor demonstrations, checks references, and visits sites running the same or similar IS. After the evaluations, the committee prepares vendor analysis describing the results from each vendor, whether the vendor s ideas are aligned with the organization s goals, and comparing the data. Torn between two cultures, John is not truly a part of the savage society or of the new world society. His only society is an imaginative world built around Shakespeare s books. John is the ultimate outsider and his life is filled with confusion and struggle. Although he does not appear until chapter seven of Brave New World , John is the protagonist of the story and the symbol of the old world society. The outer appearance of John can reveal the struggle within him. He may be dressed like a savage, but his light colored skin, blonde hair, and blue eyes betray his origin. He was born on the Savage Reservation to Linda, a Beta minus who had lived in the new world society before being abandoned on the reservation by the Director of Hatcheries and Conditioning (The D.H.C.). The Director does not even know of his existence until John later appears in London as an adult. • 38. Analysis Of Negotiating Problematic Identity Essay The paper titled Negotiating Problematic Identity: The Queer Voyage in Thomas Mann s Death in Venice is a phenomenological reading of queer experience in Death in Venice. The central character, Gustav Von Aschenbach is portrayed as having fallen a victim of his own unnatural obsession with beautiful boy, Tadzio. His love for the boy is seen as the culmination of his decline both as an artist and as a human being. Phenomenology is concerned with the ways in which people experience their lives and with the mental structures that give meaning to those experiences. Edmund Husserl believed that it is futile to attempt to understand either the mind or the world in isolation from one another. According to him, there exists an interdependent realtionship between the mind and the world. He also says that it is the relationship in which mental states are defined by the objects of experience and the objects of experience are shaped by the mental states. This paper focuses on the feelings, experiences, emotions and self identification of Gustav Von Aschenbach as he voyages through the contours of his self and various objects of experiences. It attempts to place him in what Heidegger calls Dasein ; thus, giving him a sense of identity (more exactly a queer identity). His conscious experience could be seen as Authentic Dasein (as Heidegger calls it) with the full knowledge of its mortality. Key words: Dasein, Being, phenomena, identity. Introduction The ... When negative economic and social trends appear at the national level, some individuals respond by demanding more restrictive immigration policies (McLaren 2003; Money 1997; Olzak 1992; Quillian 1995). National institutions often influence and also are influenced by these negative reactions toward newcomers. Prominent opinion leaders, both in the government and in the media, who oppose immigration and immigrants rights often condemn immigrants for problems ranging from unemployment to waning public education. Their critics often argue that while these social and economic problems may be real, placing the sole blame on immigrants is a form of scapegoating. Although anti immigrant sentiments often coexist with xenophobia, racism, and/or nativism, competition or the threat of economic competition can also provoke negative attitudes towards immigrants (Bonacich 1972; Olzak 1992). • 48. Weak Arguments in Cosmological Argument by Thomas Aquinas Many philosophers have posed the question: How can I prove that God exists? Thomas Aquinas attempted to prove the existence of God in a rational way through his Cosmological argument. Aquinas argued that every event as we observe it has a cause and a casual chain cannot be infinite. Therefore, a first cause is necessary and this cause is God. Aquinas argument is unsuccessful because it assumes that God is a necessary being, fails to prove that the world is not an infinite chain of events, and undermines the basis of his argument by saying that God is infinite. Aquinas argued the existence of God with five main points. Aquinas began by saying that nothing can be a cause of itself; rather every event was caused by some prior event. Therefore event A causes event B that leads to event C and so forth. He believed in this cause and effect relationship but believed that there must be a first cause as a starting point. When contemplating this starting point Aquinas rejected the possibility of an infinite series of events. This means that the universe has not existed forever and there must have been something from which every single event stems. There must be an uncaused first cause, which Aquinas concluded to be God. The first cause is called the unmoved mover. The unmoved mover is what set all other events and beings in motion. The arguments made by Aquinas at first seem to be powerful.
