The Dangers Of Racial Profiling
Racial profiling is the act of suspecting or targeting a person, based on observations of a person
character or behavior (Hayle, S., Wortley, S., Tanner, J.,
2016). Racial profiling is not a new concept; it has been a practice for quite some time. Racial
profiling is quite common in the African American communities. Small groups of African American
males are often the target. The act is carried out by white police officers. Although a common practice
of white versus black, racial profiling may affect other ethnic groups as well. More so, racial profiling
occurs when the police judge a person based on race, behavior, or group affiliation (Hayle, S.,
Wortley,
S., Tanner, J., 2016). According to (Hayle, S., Wortley, S., Tanner, J., ... Show more content on

The court overturned the ruling stating that the suspect was not seized, when the DEA agent approach.
The actions of the DEA violated the consent rule. The subject, in this case, should have been given the
right to consent to a search and seizure. Failure to give the subject this right violated Mendenhall
Fourth Amendment right.
Racial profiling is also evident in the case, Bennet vs. City of Eastpointe a case that took place in
Eastpointe, Detroit (Boyce, 2005). The Bennet vs City of Eastpointe case involves racial profiling and
a case that violates a person s Fourth Amendment rights. According to Boyce (Bicycling while black),
Eastpointe police pulled over a couple of black men that were riding on their bikes (2016). It was
believed that the police pulled them over because they were black. Eastpointe police, however,
claimed that they were instructed to find young black men who were responsible for many bike thefts.
The court found that the defendant s rights were violated and was not protected unreasonable search.
Despite the courts rationale, the evidence did not support just cause. The defense attorney for the

Cost implications for road widening is medium to high and this is a drawback
Road widening is a time dependent project to undertake and is not an immediate solution.
Lanes can only be kept to a width of 3 to reduce incompetent drivers from straddling the main street
and the additional lane causing accidents.
Movable Barriers
The barrier system is one of the lower priority solutions to be considered as it is for straight roads.
This project would require an alternative, however it is a innovative alternative that is immediate and

The Issue Of Independence From Britain
Once the Americans solved the issue of independence from Britain, they were immediately confronted
with another critical issue, what to do with slavery. On one hand, the South zealously supported
slavery and the expansion of it. The North, on the other hand, was very much against the survival and
expansion of slavery. The conflicting ideology created a problem in the new nation, through which
compromises did little to remedy. This gave rise to the development of sectionalism in the states.
Throughout the early development of the U.S., the main political crisis, slavery, along with a few other
minor crises were bandaged with compromises, but it was not until the Compromise of 1877 that the
crises were finally dealt with for good. Political divisions first came about when Secretary of the
Treasury Alexander Hamilton offered a financial plan in 1790 and 1791. Hamilton s immediate goals
were to establish the nation s financial stability, bring to the government s support the country s most
powerful financial interests, and encourage economic development. He had a long term goal of
making the U.S. a commercial and military power. Hamilton sought to achieve his goals by modeling
the U.S. after Great Britain. He also created a five part program. It consisted of creating credit
worthiness, creating national debt, a national bank, a tax on producers of whiskey, and the imposition
of a tariff and government subsidies to encourage the development of factories that could

Gun Censorship Research
Results. The first set of data to be looked at is gun ownership and the percentage of males and females
that agree or disagree to the ownership of guns. As can be seen on Table 1 which deals with gun
ownership it is seen that 30 percent of females are in favor of the ownership of guns, while 39 percent
of males say yes to gun ownership. Taking the difference from the percentages of males who say yes
and females who say yes , there is a difference of 9 percent. Using the rule of thumb for calculating a
relationship between the variables, because the difference is less than 11 percent, there is only a small
relationship among females and males who are in favor of gun ownership. When looking at the

Through a series of tests, focusing on keeping Gender the independent variable and testing it against 8
different dependent variable. The results from the study suggest that females tend to have more liberal
opinions towards public policy than males. This is not to say that there is a large relationship, in point
of fact there is a small to an almost non existent relationship. Though the hypothesis is not wrong, it is
not a correct to say with 100% certainty that females will always have more liberal opinions towards
public policy than males. As seen in Tables 7 and 8, both had small relationships and concluded that
for defense sending, males tended to hold more liberal opinions. And though small by only 5 points, it
still exists. The reason for the evening of opinions between males and females may attribute back to
Welch s argument in her paper Are Women More Liberal Than Men in the US Congress (Welch,
1985). Her conclusion was, though there is a small relationship with females holding more liberal
voting patterns, the gap seems to be dwindling as years progress. This could be due to the fact that
females are becoming a much more prominent force in politics as opposed to the past. The amount of
females with education may be increasing as well as become more independent from males and able
to stand their ground and hold firm opinions. This paper reaffirms this belief

Role Of The Power Industry And The Services It Provides Essay
The main goal of DTL Power s cybersecurity strategy is maintaining data integrity and availability of
resources while ensuring that all systems and facilities exceed the industry standards. This strategy is
critically important due to the nature of the power industry and the services it provides. The
implementation of the controls falls in line with the cybersecurity strategy designated by leadership.
The hacktivist and virus attack were able to successfully penetrate our system causing downtime and
affecting system integrity. Cyberattacks are becoming more frequent and evasive therefore it is
imperative that strong security measures be enforced to not only secure network resources but to
prevent unauthorized access.
In order to prevent unauthorized access to DTL Power s data, the cybersecurity team has selected
strict filtering controls to secure the firewall with the strictest configurations to better control traffic
traversing the network and disabling all unnecessary open ports. A firewall with strict filtering rules
detects intrusions and prevents unauthorized access by policing the traffic and access requests to the
firewall. By disabling firewall ports that are not necessary for normal communication, attack
opportunities are greatly reduced. Devices use specific ports for communicating so it is important to
conduct a thorough inquiry into which ports need to remain open. An attacker can take advantage of
open ports, gain access and create a backdoor for

Flop Analysis
Isolating limpers out of position can be a tricky proposition. Unless we have a big pair, small isos are
typically not as attractive since we will be out of position throughout the hand, if called. A solution to
this problem is something I call the third go. You may remember me covering this in Automatic Poker,
Volume 1. The entire play was created to exploit players who limp a wide range and then often play fit
or fold on the flop. It is a great way to lure bad players into making hugely unprofitable pre flop calls.
The way it works is that when it is our turn to act in the blinds and there are one or more limpers, we
simply bet about one third of our stack with the intention of shoving all in on any flop. As covered in
detail in Professional No Limit Hold em, once you invest one third of your stack into any pot, it is
always a mistake to fold. It does not matter if it is the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When fold equity is high, it is more profitable to third and go the stronger parts of your range and
shove the weaker ones. This concept applies to both shoving over limpers and to 3 betting, which will
be covered in chapter x. If you think about it, the idea makes perfect sense. In low fold equity
environments, when holding a weaker hand, you obviously want to elicit a fold more often, so giving
yourself two chances to win makes more sense. Weak players may call a similar range vs a shove that
they will vs a third and go, and if called after thirding, you can shove the flop profitably since your
opponent will miss more often than not and not be likely to call the shove. Take this example, played
versus a very loose player: Shoving our entire stack in with a strong hand versus our loose opponent
allowed us to win the

Romantic Structure Of Women In Pygmalion, By Bernard Shaw
Pygmalion, by Bernard Shaw, uses and modifies common romantic structure to enhance the depth of
its heroine, Eliza Doolittle. Like a common con artist, however, Shaw switches the bait with a jarring
look at modern sexism and the women s dependency on a man, even if she is more qualified then he.
Shaw s withdrawal from the expected conclusion of a romantic marriage reshapes critics view of
Eliza, releasing her from her expected submissive social role as a wife, and redefining her as a strong
woman. Even with her new representation, however, she is still left in a sexist society, and continues
to rely on the bachelors of Wimpole Street for financial support and advice. She goes as far as she can,
under the present circumstances, to free herself from the patriarchal society that oppresses and
ridicules her very existence.
Eliza Doolittle is introduced in Act 1 of Pygmalion as The Flower Girl (Shaw 15), a name of very low
stature within the social hierarchy of early 20th century London, England. Her lowly title speaks
volumes about her state of living in an economy where the difference between the rich and the poor is
visible. She lacks a high source of income, nor does she come from a rich family. Her father is an
alcoholic, and her stepmother an abusive guardian. Her language, as can be expected from someone of
such an upbringing, is necessitous. So, in conventional romantic format, Shaw places her and
Professor Higgins under one bus shelter on a rainy day. Higgins is

Descriptive Essay On A Day In The Forest
The bus took turn after turn as I admired the green wilderness. I never knew that such beauty existed
in the outskirts of the town. After going through a lot of twisted roads, the bus stopped in the end at
our destination the picnic spot. As soon as everyone came out of the bus, our guide greeted us. Please
don t wander off deep into the forest. It can prove to be very dangerous, cautioned the guide. Everyone
nodded in agreement but no one asked why. While everyone was busy making their tents; I was taking
a lot of pictures, mostly the pictures of the natural beauty. The tall, brown trees with long thin
branches were wrapped with green climbers which were the only shelter in here and the low
whisperings of the nearby stream sounded so pleasant. The beauty of the peacock, the merry monkeys
swinging from trees to trees, and the rabbits scurrying into hiding; the flock of ducks moving in and
out of the stream and the colourful birds that were flying high in the blue sky were a sight worth
admiring. As I wandered off deep into the forest, I witnessed the dark side of this natural beauty... irate
wild animals and the angry nature. The menacing howls of wild animals and the angry roar of the
lions made me sweat copiously. The sly foxes were closely keeping an eye on my movements. These
cruel animals were frightening the living daylight out of me. Looking here and there, I tried to find a

Lung Diffusion Capacity Test Lab Report
Another very important pulmonary function test used in various healthcare settings is lung diffusion
capacity testing, also known as DLCO. DLCO stands for diffusion capacity of the lung for carbon
monoxide, measuring the extent in which oxygen passes from the alveoli of the lungs into the
bloodstream. Results of this test are used to help determine the amount of damage to the lungs or
abnormality, by answering to how well the lungs can move gases into the bloodstream. This test is
performed by having the individual breath in some air containing a very small amount of carbon
monoxide and a tracer gas which is usually helium or methane. Physicians will often walk them
through the 10 second hold breath technique, where they are asked to hold their breath for 10 seconds
after the initial inhalation of the CO/tracer mixture, then rapidly exhale after the time is up. ... Show

The results are measured by calculating the difference between the amount of the CO/tracer mixture
inhaled minus the amount of the mixture exhaled. This difference in amount represents how much of
the mixture diffused across the alveolar capillary wall, where the CO/tracer is a representation of
oxygen diffusion. There are three major factors that determine diffusion capacity: the amount of lung
tissue that comes into contact with blood vessels (surface area), the thickness of the wall of the
alveolus (the thicker the wall, the lower the diffusion capacity) and the pressure difference between
the gas in the alveoli and the gas in the blood . Some pulmonary diseases that may result in a lower
than normal DLCO include emphysema, from decreased surface area for diffusion, and fibrosis, from
increased thickness of the alveolar

Cultural Barriers To The Romans
The gospel is the foundation of the faith and without it there nothing. Romans 1:16 states it is the
power of God that brings salvation to everyone that believes .1 There are a lot of churches which do
missions and other fine works but they fail when proclaiming the gospel. They proclaim portions of
which are non offensive to people. Hell will not be talked about, sexual sin never mentioned or any
other type of sin. The need is for healthy churches, who then in turn are more likely to send healthy
mission teams out into the field. The world desperately needs an untainted gospel. The power of the
gospel is the best tool to break down barriers. When the Apostle Paul wrote Romans, he was crossing
cultural barriers, he stated in Romans 1: 14 15 14 I am under obligation both to Greeks and to
barbarians,[d] both to the wise and to the foolish. 15 So I am eager to preach the gospel to you also
who are in Rome. 2 Paul is a great example of being a barrier breaker and being unashamed about his
faith. Paul faced numerous obstacles, including persecution , customs and cultural differences.
Therefore, this makes him a great example of what missionaries will encounter. ... Show more content

Race Biases And Human Rights Violations
You must not lose faith in humanity. Humanity is an ocean; if a few drops of the ocean are dirty, the
ocean does not become dirty. (Mahatma Gandhi) A portion of how people react to human right
violations is determined by poverty and race, but a majority of reactions to human right violations are
not established by poverty or race. Police shootings were not influenced by race biases, if police
shootings were influenced by race, more African Americans, Latinos, and Asians would be killed than
Caucasians. Not only are police shootings not influenced by race, areas where the majority of people
have a lower social class compared to areas where people tend to have a higher social class had a

Category 5 hurricanes are infrequent, therefore there may not be much planning for this event. When
comparing two category 5 hurricanes, Hurricane Andrew, and Hurricane Katrina, which took place in
the states of Florida and Louisiana. I found similarities throughout the comparison of the two
hurricanes in two different states. In Louisiana the median salary is $44,555 a year, and there is a
whopping poverty rate of 19.8% (Mekouar) contrasted to Florida where the median salary is $47,463 a
year, with a lower poverty rate of 16.5%. Hurricane Andrew ripped through Florida on August 24,

similarity was found with Hurricane Katrina. Hurricane Katrina hit Louisiana, which was where the
monster was strongest, on August 29, 2005. Hurricane Katrina was finished with Louisiana on August

Analysis Of The Book The Greatest Ghost
Chinese ghost stories, unlike American Horror Story and Japanese Sadako, never fail to fascinate us. It
gives people a mysterious feeling, accompanied with a slight sense of horror, yet romantic and
touching. In the eyes of westerns, ghost is always associated with the word haunted or demon ,
nothing but clichés about spirit making fun of people and exorcist help people out. However, Liao
Zhai Zhi Yi, the greatest ghost story compilation in Chinese history, is far from exorcism and scary
scenes, on the contrary, it largely describes beautiful bitter sweet love stories between scholars and
female ghosts, which they played very important roles in this book. Therefore, this paper will mainly
discuss the development of the ghost literature genre, the roles of scholars and female ghosts and their
importance in the example of the Magic Sword and the Magic Bag, and some common themes in Liao
Zhai.

The City Of Orlando Florida
Since the humble beginnings of the American industrial revolution, the urban city has been the
pinnacle of rapid development and robust growth. Despite the efforts of notable city planners such as
Sir Ebenezer Howard, Peter Calthorpe and Andres Duany the potential of true sustainable
development has not been realized by the majority of urban cities. The inevitable question asserts how
cities can continue growth and development while corroborating the triple bottom line as a framework
for virtually every city.
The urban city by modern definition is characterized by a broken community structure, dangerous
high density, and a lack of sustainable design. The city of Orlando Florida is a quintessential example

Education
At the foundation of every issue in the broad scope of sustainability is a fundamental lack of proper
environmental education as an individual, which ultimately permeates into all of society. The
education referred to here is not simply the standardized tests, memorizing and essays of the modern
day classroom but the education, which takes place at home. As children, there is a universal myth that
has been passed down since the golden age of the industrial revolution. This idea of the American
dream informs virtually every decision Americans make and how society is structured. Simply put:
Get an education, get a Job, have children, acquire wealth, capital and leave a legacy before you die.
The fundamental problem with this is that there is no mention of our most basic responsibility, as
environmental stewards. In short this anthropocentric paradigm acts a rearguard for sustainable
development and begins as early as the conception of language in a child s life.
Over the course of the next 15 years there are very simple yet, crucial strategies that must be in place
to amend not the foundational goals of America or the American dream but rather, the means of
achieving it. This calls first for a new approach to the environmental movement: disregard everything
that has been labeled and stigmatized as environmentalism. Instead the education infrastructure must
be replaced with the institution of logic and respect for

New Imperialism In Europe
New imperialism is often described as the quick increase and take over of land that European powers
had during the 19th century. New imperialism was a movement that erupted very suddenly. Many of
the European powers were actually opposed to the idea of taking over new territories. Of course, as
time progressed, all of that changed. Sense there was a creation of new nations; these nations need
resources to be able to establish themselves. Italy and Germany were the two new nations that used
imperialism initially. The change of balance cause more stable European powers to want more control.
There are many factors that are involved with the spread of imperialism in Europe. Things such as

The scramble was a plan to take over unindustrialized locations around the world and claim them as
colonial possessions. Eventually these lands that were taken over were used for their natural resources.
These natural resources were normally used for European industrial complexes. The way the European
colonists justified their actions was by using social Darwinism through natural selection. They
believed that the European race was more superior or stronger than any other in the world. This reason
is why they conquered Africa. Another factor for the colonization by Europeans was the missionaries.
The missionaries used a less aggressive form of social Darwinism. Missionaries felt that their purpose
was to civilize Africans and spread Christianity. Real colonization of Africa happened after the
Brussels geographical conference. This conference resulted in the creation of African international
association. Later the Berlin conference happened and Europe portioned the whole continent of Africa.

DonT Sleep There Are Snake Life And Language In The...
Daniel L. Everett s ethnography, Don t Sleep, There Are Snakes Life and Language in the Amazonian
Jungle, writes about experiences and life he faced during the time living among the Piraha. Everett, is
a linguist who s whole mission during his stay with the Piraha s was to not only learn their language,
but to convert them to Christianity. This however never happened, Everett actually ends up giving up
his faith for the name of science and language. His novel is a page turner, it make the reader to want to
keep reading it until the very end. The way Everett writes just draws people in, the way he chooses his
words and the structure of the sentences makes one feels like that they are with him.
Over the span of three decades, Everett and his family live with the Piraha for a total of seven years
learning their culture and language. What he found their really changed the idea of how we perceive
languages and the different theories behind them. The Pirahas, do not have a counting systems, or clan
system, nor a fixed terms of color or ritual, along with one of the smallest set phonemes in the world,
along with hum and whisper speech. They have no concepts of future or past ideologies, totally living
in the present and are relatively very happy people. One unfavorable aspect about this novel is that it
lacked the life of the women and children within the villages. Everett only really interacted with the
males of this society, whether there was any cultural boundaries that restricted him from interacting
with the woman is unknown, but it was something that caught my attention while reading.
The novel is spelt up into three parts: Life, Language, and Conclusion. Each one dedicated to a certain
part of the Pirahas culture. Part One: Life was very detailed on what events went on in the daily lives.
These people get very little sleep and Everett mentioned that it is very rare to have the village totally
quiet at night, one is always talking not caring if people next to them are sleeping. They start their day
very early, men would leave and go out hunting, while the women search of wild fruits and
vegetables. The Piraha people would only catch and gather what they needed for the day. It was also
interesting to read that

Working Memory Model Essay
Baddeley and Hitch (1974) criticised the multi store model for being a very simplistic view of
memory. They saw short term memory as a store that had many individual sections inside it. This was
supported by patient KF who had epilepsy, the doctor wanted to try and remedy this by removing his
hippocampus. This surgery was done, however instead of fixing his epilepsy, it damaged his short
term memory, yet he still had his long term memory intact. In the multi store model it states that in
order to have long term memory, one needs to have gone through the several stores, such as the
sensory memory store, the short term memory and then by adding meaning and rehearsal, into the
long term memory store. Seen as patient KF could still encode long ... Show more content on

Another positive is the fact that it can be applied, or rather generalised to real life. For example in job
interviews when we talk, or when people text and drive, and it can cause us to crash. Finally another
strength of the working memory model is that is provides us an explanation for the brain damaged
patients KF and SC. As it shows us logical evidence that there is other stores in memory, rather than
the oversimplified view of the multi store model. However, it does have its weakness, one such
weakness is its only address short term memory, not long term memory, and therefore it is not a
detailed model of memory, as it doesn t address long term memory. Another weakness is the circular
argument, as it makes it difficult to find fault with the working memory mode. The circular argument
is that if two task cannot be done together, then it s assumed that tis is because both of which are
overloading on of the components in the working model. If two tasks can be done together, it s
assumed they are from different components of the working model, meaning the model can explain
any results. Finally another weakness is the fact that the working memory model has been conducted
in laboratories. Therefore it means that it may not be able to generalise these result into everyday

Case Study Of Bhopal Gas Tragedy
HAZARDOUS CHEMICAL PROJECT December 2nd of 1984 marked the eve of one of the world s
most extensive and deadliest industrial disasters, known now, thirty years later, as The Bhopal Gas
Tragedy or The Bhopal Disaster , among others. Essentially: between twenty seven and forty tons of
methyl isocyanate gas and other assorted chemicals leaked from a tank at a plant owned by Union
Carbide India Limited (UCIL), the Indian subsidiary of the American company Union Carbide
Corporation (UCC), itself a subsidiary of the Dow Chemical Company (Eckerman). This catastrophic
failure followed the introduction of water into an MIC storage tank, which caused an explosive chain

The plant s placement (near a densely populated area) was noted as hazardous years before the
tragedy, but UCC insisted on the location. The planning board s motivation for their insistence was
primarily that it was cheaper to build using a pre existing plant in the non ideal location as a basis
rather than building an entirely new plant in the more thinly populated area the Bhopal government
had designated for hazardous industry (Eckerman). Had the plant been built in a more sparsely
populated area, casualties and damage from the gas leak might have been drastically reduced. The
tragedy might have been completely averted had UCC opted to use the more expensive production
process (obviating the need for MIC) instead of the cheaper, more dangerous process (as discussed
above). More economies were taken with the safety and security systems (Eckerman), which, properly
installed and maintained, might have kept the tragedy from happening or lessened its effects; although
the company maintained at first that the Bhopal plant was equipped as well as were its plants in other
countries, UCC later admitted that the safety equipment in the plant was subpar

An Occurrence At Owl Creek Bridge Analysis
I m really enjoying our assigned readings so far in class. My favorite so far has been An Occurrence at
Owl Creek Bridge by Bierce. I was not expecting the ending to this short story at all, it caught me off
guard. I honestly did believe that Peyton Farquhar, the main character of the story, managed to
escaped his hanging by swimming away from the scene. What I did find sort of hard to believe was
how much Peyton was able to imagine right before his death. What I mean by this is how he was able
to imagine a whole escape plan that led him running all the way home to his wife, all while he was in
the process of getting hanged. The whole story was about five pages long but it had a great amount of
detail describing the events. I especially enjoyed this particular reading because I was able to picture
every single moment as I kept reading along. I like stories where I know exactly what is going on and
I m able to picture everything in my head and just flow like a movie would. This was one of those
stories, especially after watching a Twilight Zone episode last class about this ... Show more content

Monica Cruz Research Papers
Monica Cruz looks so much like her older sister, Penelope Cruz, that she s freaking people out.
Recently, Monica hit the beach in a skimpy bikini and showcased her beach body and new ink on her
cheeky bottom.
Monica Cruz, at a glance, is the spitting image of her celebrity actress sister. As Daily Mail wrote, one
major difference in the twin sisters is Monica s charming new tattoo.
Monica s striking resemblance to Penelope, 43, caught the eyes of movie producers. The 40 year old
actress was tapped for Penelope s body double during the production of the elder Cruz s film, Pirates
Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.
Monica turned heads on the beach in Cadiz, Spain on Tuesday. There, she was snapped wearing a

Later, Monica Cruz underwent a wardrobe change. The sultry actress traded in her original bikini for a

to her roots by starring in The Queen of Spain, a Fernando Trueba directed motion picture. Penelope
and Trueba partnered again for a follow up to the 1998 The Girl of Your Dreams film.
The New York Times applauded the director for skillfully capturing the spirit of the era. As for Ms.
Cruz, she luminously revisits the role of a screen diva who, when the country s dictator visits the set,
is not above telling him off in the most delightfully coarse of terms, the Times reported.

The Book Of Luke Essay
Luke According to Hindson and Towns, Luke was a gentile from Syrian Antioch and was a brother of
Titus. There is little documented information concerning the beginning of Luke s life, and the exact
date of his birth is unknown. The Bible does say that Luke was a well educated physician and a
companion to Paul who taught him the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Luke spent a lot of time with Paul and
accompanied him on many of his trips to preach the Gospel. Luke authored the Biblical books of Luke
and Acts and was the only Gentile to write any Biblical books. In the book of Luke, Luke tells the
story of Jesus s life on earth and highlights Jesus s compassion and the role of women in his ministry.

The main characters in Philippians include the author himself, Paul, Timothy, Epaphroditus, Euodia,
Syntyche, and most importantly Jesus Christ. Timothy was staying with Paul while he was in prison
and Paul had planned to send Timothy back to Philippi to the church to deliver his letter to the people.
Epaphroditus had also desired to return to Philippi but was sick and dying. The Lord healed
Epaphroditus so that he could travel to Philippi. Paul s main intent in writing his letter was to express
his thanks and appreciation to God for the Philippians and to provide them with words of
encouragement. Ten years prior to the letter, Paul was obeying a vision to preach the gospel in Europe
and established the church of Philippi (Acts 16). Paul s letter to the Philippians affirmed that
Christians have the opportunity to experience true joy if they adopt an attitude of remembrance,
prayer, selflessness, confidence, unity, humility, evangelism, servitude, gratitude, commitment, joy
and support (Hindson Towns, 2013). In the final chapter of Philippians, Paul urges the Philippians to

Hitler s Last Days
Those that fail to learn from history, are doomed to repeat it (Churchill). The book Hitler s Last Days:
The Death of the Nazi Regime and the World s Most Notorious Dictator, by Bill O Reilly, details the
last days of the most reviled and evil man in history: Adolf Hitler. Most of the book is focused inside
the bunker where Hitler is weakened by a failed assassination attempt, while German soldiers were
camouflaged and quietly traveling their way through the Ardennes Forest in Luxembourg in an effort
to win the war. It also provides insight into the minds of the brave men who dared to fight and the
generals that led them. It gives specific details about the last desperate attempt of Hitler to turn the tide

Not only was Hitler s heart evil, but the fate of the world now hinged on the battle mistakes of an
obsessed maniacal dictator. Despite recent setbacks on the battlefield, the war was far from over, and
Hitler was totally convinced he was going to win the war. He devised a plan that he thought was sure
to work: a surprise attack that will push the Allied armies back across France and will allow Germany
to regain control of Europe (O Reilly 9). The fact that the Allied Forces lacked gas for their tanks,
bullets for their guns; food, and proper clothing energized Hitler into thinking that his plan might just
work (O Reilly 24). Additionally, the Germans moved their troops to locations where the US lines of
defense were the thinnest and the weakest due to the woods and where German soldiers outnumbered
Americans troops two to one (O Reilly 30). In places like the Ardennes Forest in Luxembourg,
Americans were outnumbered five to one. The Americans and Allied Forces became depressed; yet
they knew they had to hold the line at all costs. Because if they don t, Hitler s crazy gamble in the
Ardennes just might succeed (O Reilly 48). Hitler was having some startling successes, but the longer
the war went on, the more out of touch Hitler became with the realities on the ground. He ignored the
evidence because he was so certain that he was right. The first tactical mistake Hitler made was to

Erik Erikson s Stages Of Human Development
Erik Erikson is most famously known for his eight stages of human development. As a former student
of Freud, Erikson was interested in the going ons of early childhood development and what the
outcomes can be. With such an interest came his eight stages, each with a positive outcome and a
negative outcome, depending on the environment in which the individual develops. The first five
stages are the ones that are dependent a lot on how a parent reacts with their child, considering it
covers the first 18 year of life. The first five stages are the ones which will be discussed concerning
baby Jude. Jude was born 7 pounds 3 ounces on August 4 2019. At the beginning of his life, Jude will
begin to either develop trust or mistrust, the first stage of Erikson s development. This stage occurs
during the first year of life when Jude has needs that he has to rely on his parents for. When Jude cries,
he must be cared to to see if he needs feeding, changing, or simply to be held. Should his parents
attend to his needs in a timely and consistent manner, Jude will develop trust and begin to take that
trust into future relationships and situations, trusting that things will be okay. If Jude is left to cry
himself to sleep time and again and doesn t get the care or attention he needs, Jude will develop
mistrust, which will lead to fear in future relationships and endeavors. This first stage is a crucial stage
to set up because without this as a foundation, Jude cannot continue to grow in

Simulacra And Science Fiction By Jean Baudrillard
Think about the last time you sent a text in order to communicate with another person. You may have
been under the impression that you were talking with someone, but in reality you were simply
pressing down on your phone and watching the pixels on the screen move. According to Jean
Baudrillard s ideologies, you were the mere product of a simulation. In Simulacra and Simulations and
Simulacra and Science Fiction , author and sociologist Jean Baudrillard explains this phenomenon by
exploring the concept of simulacrum and simulations. Baudrillard argues that we live in a simulation
that is more real than reality, and thus no longer even bears a resemblance to reality. In other words,
the reality we think we know is really just an illusion. One movie with an exceptional amount of
parallels to Baudrillard s ideologies is The Matrix, directed by the Wachowskis. Many people believe
that foundation of The Matrix s plot is based off Baudrillard s philosophies, however this has been met
with numerous counterarguments. While The Matrix s plot may correspond with many Baudrillard s
beliefs, it is my belief that The Matrix is not solely based on Baudrillard s works but instead
incorporates ideas from a variety of different sources.
Although people may assume that the terms simulacra and simulation are interchangeable, it is
important to specify how they differ. The chapter, Simulacra and Simulations in Selected Writings
opens with quote from Ecclesiastes stating [t]he simulacrum

Genetic Modification Pros
Genetic modification, especially the production of designer babies, has been acclaimed as the next
great medical beneficiary to humanity, and also regarded with disdain and fear as a product of man
playing god, neo eugenics, and perpetuating inequality. The benefits to society, such as alleviating
medical anomalies and bettering both length and quality of life, outweigh the moral panic and outcry
that is a response to scenarios that are unlikely to ever even develop. Society should embrace genetic
engineering and modification to improve humanity as a whole. A primary concern of opponents of
genetic engineering and modification is the fear that it will widen the gap between the abilities of the
rich and poor as the inherent abilities of babies, such as their intelligence or physical strength, would
be determined by the wealth, and therefore ability to procure the best technology, of their parents
(Kimel). This is a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Changes The Rules Of The Game
Contrary to common wisdom, the absence of traditional leadership does not necessarily lead to chaos.
In fact, powerful groups seem to emerge filling the vacuum and changing the landscape of industry
and society. Decentralization has changes the rules of the game. What once was considered weakness
due to lack of structure and defined leadership and organization, has become a major force to reckon
with, often dealing major blows and defeating traditional centralized organization. Brafman and
Beckstrom likens the centralized organization to a spider that has eight legs and eight eyes. Cut off the
head and the whole organism dies. Similarly in centralized organization, do away with the
leader/leadership and such organization would languish and collapse. However, this is not the case
with decentralized organizations that are likened to a starfish. There are no heads or leaders to go after.
If you cut off one arm of the starfish, the organism can regenerate the lost arm and the severed arm
can also regenerate the whole organism as well. Like a starfish, attacking a decentralized organization
can lead to a magnified opposing push back. The authors dig into past anthropogenic history and
current economic phenomena for examples to shed light on the immense power that such
decentralized organizations wield. They also address how to spot and distinguish starfish
organizations, the importance of their core components, and strategies to defeat these organizations. In
late March 2005,

The regulation of COMT activity could modify the biological effect of estrogen and may play a role in
leiomyoma (uterine fibroid) formation (Al Hendy et al., 2013). The genotypes are Met/Met, which
causes deceased enzymatic activity, Val/Val, which causes high enzymatic activity, and Val/Met,
which causes intermediate enzyme activity (Al Hendy et al., 2013). Comparisons were done with the
genotypes and its function in relation to ethnicity and a study shows great association between COMT

American women have COMT Val158Met genotype as compared to 19% of Caucasian women and

The Financial Collapse Of 2008
After the financial collapse of 2008, the mortgage environment changed dramatically for both buyers
and brokers. In order to protect consumers and raise confidence in the market, the Federal Reserve
Board introduced regulations that limited what banks and mortgage originators could do such as
curtailing certain business practices and imposing stricter requirements on capital. However, these
actions have unintentionally affected broker competition, causing big banks to exit the housing
market, which has led to the proliferation of shadow banks and higher risk practices. These unforeseen
consequences could potentially put the housing market at risk by creating a negative environment for
consumers instead.

This prevents mortgage brokers and loan officers from steering consumers into considering riskier
loans in order to earn higher compensation. The regulations also removed the incentives that would
entice brokers to push consumers into higher yield plans by prohibiting brokers from sharing
commissions with loan officers, who must be paid a salary.
While the Federal Reserve had the intention of eliminating these unethical lending practices, the result
was a deterrence from the independent mortgage business overall. Without the prospect of earning
commissions, loan officers lose incentive of accepting deals that would take relatively longer periods
of time to close. They would be paid the same rate regardless of the kind of loan they make to
borrowers. Furthermore, the regulations also have an important consequence when considered with
the Dodd Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act, where under section 1413 of the

the borrower a defense to foreclosure for the life of the loan (Smith, 2011). Under this rule, a
delinquent borrower can potentially prevent his or her lender from foreclosing on a loan if the
borrower finds a violation of the compensation rules under Regulation Z. Consequently, large banks

In his story, The Veldt , Bradbury displays the terrors of America s devotion to material goods and
how it affects society s technology usage. The story is centered on an average American family of four

Nannies Maids And Sex Workers In The New Economy Summary
In the text Nannies, Maids, and Sex Workers in the New Economy, Barbara Ehrenreich and Arlie
Russell Hochschild argue that women from third world countries have to leave their homes and go to
developed countries in order to provide for their families. When these women move so far away their
family bond is affected and their children miss out on the love and affection they need. These women
also run the risk of getting paid little for their work, being manipulated by their bosses, and also
having to become sex workers for them so they don t run the risk of losing their jobs.
In the text Nannies, Maids, and Sex Workers in the New Economy by Barbara Ehrenreich and Arlie
Russell Hochschild discusses the underlying issue of why these women are forced to leave their
homes and go to developed countries to work. The issue is that there is not enough money in the third
world countries because all the goods have been taken by developed countries. During colonialism,
the developed countries were gaing so much leaving little for these third world countries. Even though
colonialism is not as prevalent today there is still some type of inequality where developed countries
are still taking workers from countries that are struggling economically. Some women have to move
far away because ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Personalized Nutrition and Exercise Plan
Personalized Nutrition and Exercise Plan
University of Phoenix
Leading a nutritious and healthy lifestyle with the incorporation of exercise is the path I am currently
walking on and will continue to follow in my later years. Following the healthy eating plan I currently
put myself on is a step in the right direction and the many steps that will follow will be the guide to a
continuous nutritional lifestyle. I am currently living with relapsing remitting Multiple Sclerosis (MS).
MS is an autoimmune disease that causes demyelination. Demyelination occurs when there is loss of
the myelin sheath that insulates the cells in the central nervous system. (Gutierrez, 2009) When an

(United States Department of Agriculture, 2009) Creating a diet to follow is easier planned than
followed. One has to follow successfully aself planned diet, especially when there is a drastic change
from unhealthy foods to healthy foods. Additionally, living in a home where others are not on a diet
can be challenging. Eating with the familywhen only one individual on a diet is a challenge to one s
will power. I can say for myself that my will power is average. Itis hard sometimes when my husband
is eating a steak dinner or fried spicy hot chicken, my favorite. I will give in at times. There were
situations where I completely gave in, but as I continue to educate myself, I have come to realize that
sometimes cheating is not worth because it eventually catches up to one s health in a not so good way.
My approach to avoid having to deal with giving into temptation is to eat before the rest of the family
doesor to eat before I leave work. That way I am not eating late nor will I be hungry by the time I
come home. Another challenge I may come across is if the Multiple Sclerosis becomes aggressivein
my later years where a work out regimen may not be an option. Therapy and medication would have
to be the option to handle the condition if it worsens. Depending on how bad the condition is, I may be
able to incorporate some kind of exercise whether it is just walking or picking up some weights. At
least there will be some kind of physical activity.

Accounting Methods Used By Ancient Egyptians For Inventory...
Accountants are trusted and respected all around the world. After all, this profession has been around
for many years; there is proof that accounting methods were used by ancient Egyptians for inventory
purposes. The accounting profession has many certifications; one of them is Certified Public
Accountant, also known by its acronym, CPA. By far, the one with the most advantages is CPA
because it is required by almost any accounting firm, provides mobility across the industry, and
provides better economic remuneration. Acquiring the certification is not easy; the CPA examination is
known to be difficult and challenging, having four parts and a passing rate of only 50 percent. It also
requires continuing education since there are constant changes in laws. Once the certification is
acquired, the rewards are greater than the sacrifice. CPAs are currently in high demand, and that is
only increasing every year; this is great for job opportunities and for remuneration. Accountants have
always had good salaries, but being in high demand increases the chances of having even better
salaries. Before, CPAs were thought of as bookkeepers and tax makers, but now they are much more
than that. Companies don t make business decisions before consulting with their accountants, after all,
no one knows the economic situation of a company better than the accountant.

Symptoms And Symptoms Of Chronic Bronchitis Essay
1. What clinical findings correlate with M.K. s chronic bronchitis? What type of treatment and
recommendations would be appropriate for M.K. s chronic bronchitis?
Chronic bronchitis is caused by inflammation of the lining of the bronchial tubes. These tubes carry
oxygen to and from the alveoli of the lungs.
Clinical findings that correlate with M.K. s chronic bronchitis include:
22 plus years of smoking smoking has been directly linked as one of the number one causes of
Chronic bronchitis/COPD.
Chronic cough with sputum especially in the mornings. A Chronic cough is often one of the initial
symptoms of COPD. It is long term, and can increase in severity as the disease progresses. Sputum or
mucus is often produced in the cough of a COPD patient.
Light headedness, distended neck veins and peripheral edema The light headedness, distended neck
veins and peripheral edema could all be caused by pulmonary hypertension. COPD can be a cause of
pulmonary hypertension. The rise in blood pressure in your lungs can be caused by changes in the
cells that line the walls of your pulmonary arteries causing them to become stiff and thickened. The
arteries can also become inflamed and tight. Smoking can be a major contributor to the damage of
these vessels. These changes can reduce or block blood flow through these vessels, thus raising the
pressure. The reduced blood flow through the lungs puts a strain on the right side of the heart. The
right side of the heart has to work

Description Of A Literature Search
Planning
To achieve the above aims, a literature search was done to check to see if there is any innovation
similar to this. My findings shows that there were some spoons that were designed like the one the
service user was using, but there was none that had a link strap at the base of the spoon that the service
users could use. I came up with the idea of linking the strap to the base of the spoon in a way that the
service users could use the spoon, and at the same time drop the spoon when he wants to without the
spoon falling on the floor.
The advantage of this is that the service user could take back the spoon without any support because
the spoon is still within reach; therefore, the service user could continue eating with any interruption.
This promotes the service user s independence, inclusion and dignity. This was reinforced by the (DH,
2009) three year strategy Valuing People Now. In addition, the strap is available in different colours;
therefore, the service user has the opportunity of choosing their favourite colour. This idea promotes
the service user s involvement in their care and choices (DH, 2009).
Figure 2 and 3 (below) shows the diagram of the spoon and the strap. The price of the spoon on
Amazon at the time of writing this essay was £3.54, and the strap cost £2.50. Ryrie and Anderson
(2011) argue that nurses need to know how to do an economic assessment of their innovation in this
era of government cuts and savings. They proposed the use of an economic

Death Of Dinosaurs Research Paper
Dinosaurs: Destroyed by an Asteroid
After the extinction of dinosaurs, intelligent scientists have come together to study the devastating
event. The debate surrounding the death of the dinosaurs has intensified due to many recent theories.
Some people believed that an extremely devastating ice age froze the dinosaurs across the world and
brought massive extinction. Others believe that a volcanic eruption occurred due to climate change
and natural disasters, while some say aliens abducted the dinosaurs. None of these theories seem
proven to be accurate and in alignment with historical events. Now many experts and paleontologists
are concluding that dinosaurs were killed by a massive rocky body asteroid. Although many people
believe an ice age ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many amounts of asteroid elements such as iridium were found in rock debris along with other
asteroid particles. The discovery of Iridium sparked the attention of multiple scientists and
researchers. Iridium is rare in the Earth s crust, but it is plentiful in most asteroids and large
meteorites. With Iridium found in the Earth s crust, researchers have concluded that an asteroid
composed of Iridium struck Earth at its boundaries of layers. Further studies have indicated that this
Iridium layer has been found in more than 100 locations around the globe, providing data that this
event was truly universal ( Dinosaurs. ). In addition, the measurements and evidence are accurate with
the asteroid that made impact. After many decades of research and searching scientists identified a
massive crater associated with materials of Iridium. Many pieces Iridium are buried beneath
sentiments of rock, many surrounding the coast of Yucatan. Debris and sediments are revealed by high
graphing the strength and power of gravity over that area. With these statistics and drilling methods to
observe the area, it is concluded that a relatively large impact happened 65 million years ago. After the
calculations and drilling, astronomers charted many asteroids that have crossed Earth s orbit and
atmosphere. From abundant study efforts and orbital data, it is estimated that asteroids of

A Comparison Of Love In Shakespeare s Romeo And Juliet
Is love a special connection or is it something more physical? Throughout many centuries the
perspective of love has always revolved around an association that the two people have in common.
William Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet, we see how love is diverse; Romeo talked about Rosaline.
He mentioned that he was very depressed and even offered her money to marry him. Today, love is a
crave, something that people do not take much time to think on. To elaborate, love brings a
combination of emotions. This was shown by Shakespeare in Romeo and Juliet, when Romeo is in
love with Rosaline but once he sees Juliet, he falls for her. In the text it states, What a fool he was to
think he had been in love with Rosaline! He must have been blind. He

Tell Tale Heart Literary Devices
Whenever it fell upon me, my blood ran cold; and so by degrees very gradually I made up my mind to
take the life of the old man, and thus rid myself of the eye forever. Edgar Allan Poe is the author of
Tell Tale Heart, a horror story with a lot of suspense and many different literary writing techniques
infiltrated into the story. In fact, Poe is a master of suspense and horror and the literary techniques he
uses in his writing intensify these two characteristics. Three techniques the Poe uses in Tell Tale Heart
are similes, punctuation and repetition, and point of view. One of the literary techniques that Poe uses
in Tell Tale Heart are similes. One of the reasons that Poe uses similes when he is writing Tell Tale
Heart was because similes were a good way to help get what he was thinking/his point across to the
reader. An example of him doing this in Tell Tale Heart was whenever Poe was talking about how
stealthy and carefully he would watch the man at night. Poe writes So I opened the lantern you cannot
imagine how stealthily, stealthily until at length, a single dim ray, like the thread of the spider, shot out
from the crevice and fell upon the vulture eye. This example from Tell Tale Heart also shows another
reason why Poe uses similes in his writing. This reason is because the similes that Poe uses helps his
readers see the image that he is trying to paint for them more clearly. Finally, Poe uses similes in his
writing because they can help keep his readers focused and because similes can also help grab a reader
s attention. An example of this from Tell Tale Heart is whenever Poe is talking about the beating sound
that he hears that keeps getting louder and louder. He writes, the sound increased...and what could I
do? It was a low, dull, quick sound, as a watch enveloped in cotton... Poe used similes like this one to
help keep his readers interested in what he had to say. In Tell Tale Heart, Poe uses punctuation and
repetition to intensify his writing. One reason why Poe likes to use this literary technique in his
writing so much is because it helps build suspense in the story. Since Poe likes to write horrifying and
suspenseful stories and he likes to keep people on the edge of their

The Negative And Positive Connotation On Speech Communities
There is negative and positive connotation on speech communities based on what social media
portrays for each group. This issue within society is that we see language as a system and right or
wrong. An example is Slang, African American Vernacular language and also. When hearing slang
people tend to assume that the person or group using it comes from a lower class. One misconception
is that an individual that is using AAE is a product of a lower income community. Proper and non
proper speech is correlated to economic and social status of speaker. An example for African
American Vernacular language was presented through the video Who else done messed up? In this
video the substitute was using African American Vernacular English when pronouncing the student s
names there was voice stops devoiced at the end of the names, consonant cluster deduction and
vocalization in names but when giving instruction none of these features appeared. The negative
connotation in this video is the substitute was speaking in commonly used English that would be
considered AAVE but because it is believed that only African Americans use AAVE the video shows
how there was only one person that understood the substitute enunciation and is was a young African
American male. There is a misconception that each country has one language but in reality, this is a
variety of dialects within each one. Another fallacy/ mistaken belief is that an individual that is using
AAE is non educated, that is not

  • 2. The Dangers Of Racial Profiling Racial profiling is the act of suspecting or targeting a person, based on observations of a person character or behavior (Hayle, S., Wortley, S., Tanner, J., 2016). Racial profiling is not a new concept; it has been a practice for quite some time. Racial profiling is quite common in the African American communities. Small groups of African American males are often the target. The act is carried out by white police officers. Although a common practice of white versus black, racial profiling may affect other ethnic groups as well. More so, racial profiling occurs when the police judge a person based on race, behavior, or group affiliation (Hayle, S., Wortley, S., Tanner, J., 2016). Racial profiling is also evident in the case, Bennet vs. City of Eastpointe a case that took place in Eastpointe, Detroit (Boyce, 2005). The Bennet vs City of Eastpointe case involves racial profiling and a case that violates a person s Fourth Amendment rights. According to Boyce (Bicycling while black), Eastpointe police pulled over a couple of black men that were riding on their bikes (2016). It was believed that the police pulled them over because they were black. Eastpointe police, however, claimed that they were instructed to find young black men who were responsible for many bike thefts. The court found that the defendant s rights were violated and was not protected unreasonable search. Despite the courts rationale, the evidence did not support just cause. • 5. The Issue Of Independence From Britain Once the Americans solved the issue of independence from Britain, they were immediately confronted with another critical issue, what to do with slavery. On one hand, the South zealously supported slavery and the expansion of it. The North, on the other hand, was very much against the survival and expansion of slavery. The conflicting ideology created a problem in the new nation, through which compromises did little to remedy. This gave rise to the development of sectionalism in the states. Throughout the early development of the U.S., the main political crisis, slavery, along with a few other minor crises were bandaged with compromises, but it was not until the Compromise of 1877 that the crises were finally dealt with for good. Political divisions first came about when Secretary of the Treasury Alexander Hamilton offered a financial plan in 1790 and 1791. Hamilton s immediate goals were to establish the nation s financial stability, bring to the government s support the country s most powerful financial interests, and encourage economic development. He had a long term goal of making the U.S. a commercial and military power. Hamilton sought to achieve his goals by modeling the U.S. after Great Britain. He also created a five part program. It consisted of creating credit worthiness, creating national debt, a national bank, a tax on producers of whiskey, and the imposition of a tariff and government subsidies to encourage the development of factories that could ... As can be seen on Table 1 which deals with gun ownership it is seen that 30 percent of females are in favor of the ownership of guns, while 39 percent of males say yes to gun ownership. Taking the difference from the percentages of males who say yes and females who say yes , there is a difference of 9 percent. Through a series of tests, focusing on keeping Gender the independent variable and testing it against 8 different dependent variable. The results from the study suggest that females tend to have more liberal opinions towards public policy than males. This is not to say that there is a large relationship, in point of fact there is a small to an almost non existent relationship. Though the hypothesis is not wrong, it is not a correct to say with 100% certainty that females will always have more liberal opinions towards public policy than males. As seen in Tables 7 and 8, both had small relationships and concluded that for defense sending, males tended to hold more liberal opinions. And though small by only 5 points, it still exists. The reason for the evening of opinions between males and females may attribute back to Welch s argument in her paper Are Women More Liberal Than Men in the US Congress (Welch, 1985). Her conclusion was, though there is a small relationship with females holding more liberal voting patterns, the gap seems to be dwindling as years progress. This could be due to the fact that females are becoming a much more prominent force in politics as opposed to the past. The amount of females with education may be increasing as well as become more independent from males and able to stand their ground and hold firm opinions. This paper reaffirms this belief ... • 7. Role Of The Power Industry And The Services It Provides Essay The main goal of DTL Power s cybersecurity strategy is maintaining data integrity and availability of resources while ensuring that all systems and facilities exceed the industry standards. This strategy is critically important due to the nature of the power industry and the services it provides. The implementation of the controls falls in line with the cybersecurity strategy designated by leadership. The hacktivist and virus attack were able to successfully penetrate our system causing downtime and affecting system integrity. Cyberattacks are becoming more frequent and evasive therefore it is imperative that strong security measures be enforced to not only secure network resources but to prevent unauthorized access. In order to prevent unauthorized access to DTL Power s data, the cybersecurity team has selected strict filtering controls to secure the firewall with the strictest configurations to better control traffic traversing the network and disabling all unnecessary open ports. A firewall with strict filtering rules detects intrusions and prevents unauthorized access by policing the traffic and access requests to the firewall. By disabling firewall ports that are not necessary for normal communication, attack opportunities are greatly reduced. Devices use specific ports for communicating so it is important to conduct a thorough inquiry into which ports need to remain open. An attacker can take advantage of open ports, gain access and create a backdoor for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Flop Analysis Isolating limpers out of position can be a tricky proposition. Unless we have a big pair, small isos are typically not as attractive since we will be out of position throughout the hand, if called. A solution to this problem is something I call the third go. You may remember me covering this in Automatic Poker, Volume 1. The entire play was created to exploit players who limp a wide range and then often play fit or fold on the flop. It is a great way to lure bad players into making hugely unprofitable pre flop calls. The way it works is that when it is our turn to act in the blinds and there are one or more limpers, we simply bet about one third of our stack with the intention of shoving all in on any flop. As covered in detail in Professional No Limit Hold em, once you invest one third of your stack into any pot, it is always a mistake to fold. It does not matter if it is the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When fold equity is high, it is more profitable to third and go the stronger parts of your range and shove the weaker ones. This concept applies to both shoving over limpers and to 3 betting, which will be covered in chapter x. If you think about it, the idea makes perfect sense. In low fold equity environments, when holding a weaker hand, you obviously want to elicit a fold more often, so giving yourself two chances to win makes more sense. Weak players may call a similar range vs a shove that they will vs a third and go, and if called after thirding, you can shove the flop profitably since your opponent will miss more often than not and not be likely to call the shove. Take this example, played versus a very loose player: Shoving our entire stack in with a strong hand versus our loose opponent allowed us to win the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Romantic Structure Of Women In Pygmalion, By Bernard Shaw Pygmalion, by Bernard Shaw, uses and modifies common romantic structure to enhance the depth of its heroine, Eliza Doolittle. Like a common con artist, however, Shaw switches the bait with a jarring look at modern sexism and the women s dependency on a man, even if she is more qualified then he. Shaw s withdrawal from the expected conclusion of a romantic marriage reshapes critics view of Eliza, releasing her from her expected submissive social role as a wife, and redefining her as a strong woman. Even with her new representation, however, she is still left in a sexist society, and continues to rely on the bachelors of Wimpole Street for financial support and advice. She goes as far as she can, under the present circumstances, to free herself from the patriarchal society that oppresses and ridicules her very existence. Eliza Doolittle is introduced in Act 1 of Pygmalion as The Flower Girl (Shaw 15), a name of very low stature within the social hierarchy of early 20th century London, England. Her lowly title speaks volumes about her state of living in an economy where the difference between the rich and the poor is visible. She lacks a high source of income, nor does she come from a rich family. Her father is an alcoholic, and her stepmother an abusive guardian. Her language, as can be expected from someone of such an upbringing, is necessitous. So, in conventional romantic format, Shaw places her and Professor Higgins under one bus shelter on a rainy day. After going through a lot of twisted roads, the bus stopped in the end at our destination the picnic spot. As soon as everyone came out of the bus, our guide greeted us. Please don t wander off deep into the forest. It can prove to be very dangerous, cautioned the guide. Everyone nodded in agreement but no one asked why. While everyone was busy making their tents; I was taking a lot of pictures, mostly the pictures of the natural beauty. The tall, brown trees with long thin branches were wrapped with green climbers which were the only shelter in here and the low whisperings of the nearby stream sounded so pleasant. The beauty of the peacock, the merry monkeys swinging from trees to trees, and the rabbits scurrying into hiding; the flock of ducks moving in and out of the stream and the colourful birds that were flying high in the blue sky were a sight worth admiring. As I wandered off deep into the forest, I witnessed the dark side of this natural beauty... irate wild animals and the angry nature. The menacing howls of wild animals and the angry roar of the lions made me sweat copiously. The sly foxes were closely keeping an eye on my movements. • 11. Lung Diffusion Capacity Test Lab Report Another very important pulmonary function test used in various healthcare settings is lung diffusion capacity testing, also known as DLCO. DLCO stands for diffusion capacity of the lung for carbon monoxide, measuring the extent in which oxygen passes from the alveoli of the lungs into the bloodstream. Results of this test are used to help determine the amount of damage to the lungs or abnormality, by answering to how well the lungs can move gases into the bloodstream. This test is performed by having the individual breath in some air containing a very small amount of carbon monoxide and a tracer gas which is usually helium or methane. Physicians will often walk them through the 10 second hold breath technique, where they are asked to hold their breath for 10 seconds after the initial inhalation of the CO/tracer mixture, then rapidly exhale after the time is up. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The results are measured by calculating the difference between the amount of the CO/tracer mixture inhaled minus the amount of the mixture exhaled. This difference in amount represents how much of the mixture diffused across the alveolar capillary wall, where the CO/tracer is a representation of oxygen diffusion. There are three major factors that determine diffusion capacity: the amount of lung tissue that comes into contact with blood vessels (surface area), the thickness of the wall of the alveolus (the thicker the wall, the lower the diffusion capacity) and the pressure difference between the gas in the alveoli and the gas in the blood . Some pulmonary diseases that may result in a lower than normal DLCO include emphysema, from decreased surface area for diffusion, and fibrosis, from increased thickness of the alveolar ... Romans 1:16 states it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone that believes .1 There are a lot of churches which do missions and other fine works but they fail when proclaiming the gospel. They proclaim portions of which are non offensive to people. Hell will not be talked about, sexual sin never mentioned or any other type of sin. The need is for healthy churches, who then in turn are more likely to send healthy mission teams out into the field. The world desperately needs an untainted gospel. When the Apostle Paul wrote Romans, he was crossing cultural barriers, he stated in Romans 1: 14 15 14 I am under obligation both to Greeks and to barbarians,[d] both to the wise and to the foolish. 15 So I am eager to preach the gospel to you also who are in Rome. 2 Paul is a great example of being a barrier breaker and being unashamed about his faith. However, Liao Zhai Zhi Yi, the greatest ghost story compilation in Chinese history, is far from exorcism and scary scenes, on the contrary, it largely describes beautiful bitter sweet love stories between scholars and female ghosts, which they played very important roles in this book. Despite the efforts of notable city planners such as Sir Ebenezer Howard, Peter Calthorpe and Andres Duany the potential of true sustainable development has not been realized by the majority of urban cities. The inevitable question asserts how cities can continue growth and development while corroborating the triple bottom line as a framework for virtually every city. Education At the foundation of every issue in the broad scope of sustainability is a fundamental lack of proper environmental education as an individual, which ultimately permeates into all of society. The education referred to here is not simply the standardized tests, memorizing and essays of the modern day classroom but the education, which takes place at home. As children, there is a universal myth that has been passed down since the golden age of the industrial revolution. This idea of the American dream informs virtually every decision Americans make and how society is structured. Simply put: Get an education, get a Job, have children, acquire wealth, capital and leave a legacy before you die. The fundamental problem with this is that there is no mention of our most basic responsibility, as environmental stewards. In short this anthropocentric paradigm acts a rearguard for sustainable development and begins as early as the conception of language in a child s life. Over the course of the next 15 years there are very simple yet, crucial strategies that must be in place to amend not the foundational goals of America or the American dream but rather, the means of achieving it. This calls first for a new approach to the environmental movement: disregard everything that has been labeled and stigmatized as environmentalism. Instead the education infrastructure must be replaced with the institution of logic and respect for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They believed that the European race was more superior or stronger than any other in the world. This reason is why they conquered Africa. Everett s ethnography, Don t Sleep, There Are Snakes Life and Language in the Amazonian Jungle, writes about experiences and life he faced during the time living among the Piraha. Everett, is a linguist who s whole mission during his stay with the Piraha s was to not only learn their language, but to convert them to Christianity. This however never happened, Everett actually ends up giving up his faith for the name of science and language. His novel is a page turner, it make the reader to want to keep reading it until the very end. The way Everett writes just draws people in, the way he chooses his words and the structure of the sentences makes one feels like that they are with him. Over the span of three decades, Everett and his family live with the Piraha for a total of seven years learning their culture and language. What he found their really changed the idea of how we perceive languages and the different theories behind them. The Pirahas, do not have a counting systems, or clan system, nor a fixed terms of color or ritual, along with one of the smallest set phonemes in the world, along with hum and whisper speech. They have no concepts of future or past ideologies, totally living in the present and are relatively very happy people. One unfavorable aspect about this novel is that it lacked the life of the women and children within the villages. Everett only really interacted with the males of this society, whether there was any cultural boundaries that restricted him from interacting with the woman is unknown, but it was something that caught my attention while reading. The novel is spelt up into three parts: Life, Language, and Conclusion. Each one dedicated to a certain part of the Pirahas culture. Part One: Life was very detailed on what events went on in the daily lives. These people get very little sleep and Everett mentioned that it is very rare to have the village totally quiet at night, one is always talking not caring if people next to them are sleeping. They start their day very early, men would leave and go out hunting, while the women search of wild fruits and vegetables. The Piraha people would only catch and gather what they needed for the day. • 18. Working Memory Model Essay Baddeley and Hitch (1974) criticised the multi store model for being a very simplistic view of memory. They saw short term memory as a store that had many individual sections inside it. This was supported by patient KF who had epilepsy, the doctor wanted to try and remedy this by removing his hippocampus. This surgery was done, however instead of fixing his epilepsy, it damaged his short term memory, yet he still had his long term memory intact. In the multi store model it states that in order to have long term memory, one needs to have gone through the several stores, such as the sensory memory store, the short term memory and then by adding meaning and rehearsal, into the long term memory store. Finally another strength of the working memory model is that is provides us an explanation for the brain damaged patients KF and SC. As it shows us logical evidence that there is other stores in memory, rather than the oversimplified view of the multi store model. However, it does have its weakness, one such weakness is its only address short term memory, not long term memory, and therefore it is not a detailed model of memory, as it doesn t address long term memory. Another weakness is the circular argument, as it makes it difficult to find fault with the working memory mode. The circular argument is that if two task cannot be done together, then it s assumed that tis is because both of which are overloading on of the components in the working model. If two tasks can be done together, it s assumed they are from different components of the working model, meaning the model can explain any results. Case Study Of Bhopal Gas Tragedy HAZARDOUS CHEMICAL PROJECT December 2nd of 1984 marked the eve of one of the world s most extensive and deadliest industrial disasters, known now, thirty years later, as The Bhopal Gas Tragedy or The Bhopal Disaster , among others. Essentially: between twenty seven and forty tons of methyl isocyanate gas and other assorted chemicals leaked from a tank at a plant owned by Union Carbide India Limited (UCIL), the Indian subsidiary of the American company Union Carbide Corporation (UCC), itself a subsidiary of the Dow Chemical Company (Eckerman). The plant s placement (near a densely populated area) was noted as hazardous years before the tragedy, but UCC insisted on the location. The planning board s motivation for their insistence was primarily that it was cheaper to build using a pre existing plant in the non ideal location as a basis rather than building an entirely new plant in the more thinly populated area the Bhopal government had designated for hazardous industry (Eckerman). Had the plant been built in a more sparsely populated area, casualties and damage from the gas leak might have been drastically reduced. The tragedy might have been completely averted had UCC opted to use the more expensive production process (obviating the need for MIC) instead of the cheaper, more dangerous process (as discussed above). More economies were taken with the safety and security systems (Eckerman), which, properly installed and maintained, might have kept the tragedy from happening or lessened its effects; although the company maintained at first that the Bhopal plant was equipped as well as were its plants in other countries, UCC later admitted that the safety equipment in the plant was subpar ... I was not expecting the ending to this short story at all, it caught me off guard. I honestly did believe that Peyton Farquhar, the main character of the story, managed to escaped his hanging by swimming away from the scene. What I did find sort of hard to believe was how much Peyton was able to imagine right before his death. What I mean by this is how he was able to imagine a whole escape plan that led him running all the way home to his wife, all while he was in the process of getting hanged. The whole story was about five pages long but it had a great amount of detail describing the events. I especially enjoyed this particular reading because I was able to picture every single moment as I kept reading along. I do, however, blame her for the misfortune she brought upon her and her husband when she lost the fake necklace. The fact that the Allied Forces lacked gas for their tanks, bullets for their guns; food, and proper clothing energized Hitler into thinking that his plan might just work (O Reilly 24). The first five stages are the ones that are dependent a lot on how a parent reacts with their child, considering it covers the first 18 year of life. The first five stages are the ones which will be discussed concerning baby Jude. Jude was born 7 pounds 3 ounces on August 4 2019. At the beginning of his life, Jude will begin to either develop trust or mistrust, the first stage of Erikson s development. This stage occurs during the first year of life when Jude has needs that he has to rely on his parents for. When Jude cries, he must be cared to to see if he needs feeding, changing, or simply to be held. Should his parents attend to his needs in a timely and consistent manner, Jude will develop trust and begin to take that trust into future relationships and situations, trusting that things will be okay. If Jude is left to cry himself to sleep time and again and doesn t get the care or attention he needs, Jude will develop mistrust, which will lead to fear in future relationships and endeavors. You may have been under the impression that you were talking with someone, but in reality you were simply pressing down on your phone and watching the pixels on the screen move. According to Jean Baudrillard s ideologies, you were the mere product of a simulation. In Simulacra and Simulations and Simulacra and Science Fiction , author and sociologist Jean Baudrillard explains this phenomenon by exploring the concept of simulacrum and simulations. Baudrillard argues that we live in a simulation that is more real than reality, and thus no longer even bears a resemblance to reality. In other words, the reality we think we know is really just an illusion. One movie with an exceptional amount of parallels to Baudrillard s ideologies is The Matrix, directed by the Wachowskis. Many people believe that foundation of The Matrix s plot is based off Baudrillard s philosophies, however this has been met with numerous counterarguments. While The Matrix s plot may correspond with many Baudrillard s beliefs, it is my belief that The Matrix is not solely based on Baudrillard s works but instead incorporates ideas from a variety of different sources. Society should embrace genetic engineering and modification to improve humanity as a whole. A primary concern of opponents of genetic engineering and modification is the fear that it will widen the gap between the abilities of the rich and poor as the inherent abilities of babies, such as their intelligence or physical strength, would be determined by the wealth, and therefore ability to procure the best technology, of their parents (Kimel). In fact, powerful groups seem to emerge filling the vacuum and changing the landscape of industry and society. Decentralization has changes the rules of the game. What once was considered weakness due to lack of structure and defined leadership and organization, has become a major force to reckon with, often dealing major blows and defeating traditional centralized organization. Brafman and Beckstrom likens the centralized organization to a spider that has eight legs and eight eyes. Cut off the head and the whole organism dies. Similarly in centralized organization, do away with the leader/leadership and such organization would languish and collapse. However, this is not the case with decentralized organizations that are likened to a starfish. There are no heads or leaders to go after. If you cut off one arm of the starfish, the organism can regenerate the lost arm and the severed arm can also regenerate the whole organism as well. Like a starfish, attacking a decentralized organization can lead to a magnified opposing push back. The authors dig into past anthropogenic history and current economic phenomena for examples to shed light on the immense power that such decentralized organizations wield. Nannies Maids And Sex Workers In The New Economy Summary In the text Nannies, Maids, and Sex Workers in the New Economy, Barbara Ehrenreich and Arlie Russell Hochschild argue that women from third world countries have to leave their homes and go to developed countries in order to provide for their families. When these women move so far away their family bond is affected and their children miss out on the love and affection they need. These women also run the risk of getting paid little for their work, being manipulated by their bosses, and also having to become sex workers for them so they don t run the risk of losing their jobs. In the text Nannies, Maids, and Sex Workers in the New Economy by Barbara Ehrenreich and Arlie Russell Hochschild discusses the underlying issue of why these women are forced to leave their homes and go to developed countries to work. The issue is that there is not enough money in the third world countries because all the goods have been taken by developed countries. My findings shows that there were some spoons that were designed like the one the service user was using, but there was none that had a link strap at the base of the spoon that the service users could use. I came up with the idea of linking the strap to the base of the spoon in a way that the service users could use the spoon, and at the same time drop the spoon when he wants to without the spoon falling on the floor. The advantage of this is that the service user could take back the spoon without any support because the spoon is still within reach; therefore, the service user could continue eating with any interruption. This promotes the service user s independence, inclusion and dignity. This was reinforced by the (DH, 2009) three year strategy Valuing People Now. In addition, the strap is available in different colours; therefore, the service user has the opportunity of choosing their favourite colour. This idea promotes the service user s involvement in their care and choices (DH, 2009). Figure 2 and 3 (below) shows the diagram of the spoon and the strap. The price of the spoon on Amazon at the time of writing this essay was £3.54, and the strap cost £2.50. Iridium is rare in the Earth s crust, but it is plentiful in most asteroids and large meteorites. With Iridium found in the Earth s crust, researchers have concluded that an asteroid composed of Iridium struck Earth at its boundaries of layers. Further studies have indicated that this Iridium layer has been found in more than 100 locations around the globe, providing data that this event was truly universal ( Dinosaurs. ). In addition, the measurements and evidence are accurate with the asteroid that made impact. After many decades of research and searching scientists identified a massive crater associated with materials of Iridium. • 48. Tell Tale Heart Literary Devices Whenever it fell upon me, my blood ran cold; and so by degrees very gradually I made up my mind to take the life of the old man, and thus rid myself of the eye forever. Edgar Allan Poe is the author of Tell Tale Heart, a horror story with a lot of suspense and many different literary writing techniques infiltrated into the story. In fact, Poe is a master of suspense and horror and the literary techniques he uses in his writing intensify these two characteristics. Three techniques the Poe uses in Tell Tale Heart are similes, punctuation and repetition, and point of view. One of the literary techniques that Poe uses in Tell Tale Heart are similes. One of the reasons that Poe uses similes when he is writing Tell Tale Heart was because similes were a good way to help get what he was thinking/his point across to the reader. An example of him doing this in Tell Tale Heart was whenever Poe was talking about how stealthy and carefully he would watch the man at night. Poe writes So I opened the lantern you cannot imagine how stealthily, stealthily until at length, a single dim ray, like the thread of the spider, shot out from the crevice and fell upon the vulture eye. This example from Tell Tale Heart also shows another reason why Poe uses similes in his writing. This reason is because the similes that Poe uses helps his readers see the image that he is trying to paint for them more clearly. Finally, Poe uses similes in his writing because they can help keep his readers focused and because similes can also help grab a reader s attention. An example of this from Tell Tale Heart is whenever Poe is talking about the beating sound that he hears that keeps getting louder and louder. He writes, the sound increased...and what could I do? It was a low, dull, quick sound, as a watch enveloped in cotton... Poe used similes like this one to help keep his readers interested in what he had to say. In Tell Tale Heart, Poe uses punctuation and repetition to intensify his writing. One reason why Poe likes to use this literary technique in his writing so much is because it helps build suspense in the story. Since Poe likes to write horrifying and suspenseful stories and he likes to keep people on the edge of their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 49. The Negative And Positive Connotation On Speech Communities There is negative and positive connotation on speech communities based on what social media portrays for each group. This issue within society is that we see language as a system and right or wrong. An example is Slang, African American Vernacular language and also. When hearing slang people tend to assume that the person or group using it comes from a lower class. One misconception is that an individual that is using AAE is a product of a lower income community. Proper and non proper speech is correlated to economic and social status of speaker. An example for African American Vernacular language was presented through the video Who else done messed up? In this video the substitute was using African American Vernacular English when pronouncing the student s names there was voice stops devoiced at the end of the names, consonant cluster deduction and vocalization in names but when giving instruction none of these features appeared. The negative connotation in this video is the substitute was speaking in commonly used English that would be considered AAVE but because it is believed that only African Americans use AAVE the video shows how there was only one person that understood the substitute enunciation and is was a young African American male.
