Geometric Krater Essay
Geometric Krater The Geometric Krater is a magnificent piece of Greek Art. In the eight century, vase
painting became very popular. The vases show a great show a great variety of style and development
over the centuries, beginning with the geometric and very linear style. They then continued through
the oriental style which borrowed images from the eastern world, and into the classical era with
mythology portrayed with as much classical accuracy as the ancient Greek potters and painters could
muster. The majority of the vases were made of a ceramic material which could easily be used for
everyday uses, however in this time, the artists would then paint on them in order to decorate them
and make them ornate enough to be used for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the upper band, the shroud, raised to reveal the corpse is an abstract checkerboard like backdrop,
and the funerary couch has only two legs because the artist had no interest in suggesting the depth or
representing space, ( Kleiner 94). This is a typical aspect of geometric design. The people, animals,
and objects are all two dimensional. The figures are actually made up of very simplified shapes, not
meant to be realistic looking. Upon examining one of the people depicted on the vase one may see that
the bodies are comprised of only basic shapes. The torso is made of a triangle, while the head is a
combination of circles. Even the arms are slender rectangles with triangular hands. The painters were
not focused on the realistic aspects, but rather the symbolic representation. In their defense, it is clear
to the viewers that the figures are people without the painters having to spend an enormous amount of
time on them. Upon researching the geometric style of Greek vase painting, I realized exactly how
unique the style is compared to all other types of vases, even other vases made by the Greeks
themselves. After the geometric style care the orientalizing style. Though the orientalizing style
sequentially follows the geometric style, it does not follow it in other aspects. Rather than having a
very linearly organized style of painting decorating the pot, the oriental style is much more freely
moving. The pictures were much more scattered and

Islamic Art And Hinduism Art
Every religion in this world has their own culture and thereby their own creative forms, like art, dance,
architecture, music and craft. Like the tradition varies from each religion to religion so as their Art. I
chose to compare Art forms of Islamic Art and Hinduism Art, as Art have always exited me and
inspired me in many ideas, and secondly arts have its own history and reasoning.
Islamic Art
Islamic craftsmanship contrasts, thusly, from such other terms as Buddhist, Christian or Hindu
workmanship, for it alludes not just to expressions of the human experience delivered by or for the
religion of Islam yet to human expressions of every single Islamic society. Islamic workmanship was
not so much made by or for Muslims, for some Islamic craftsmanship was made by Christian, Jewish,
or even Hindu craftsmen working for Muslim supporters, and some Islamic workmanship was made
for non Muslim benefactors. The term does not allude to a specific style or period, however covers an
expansive domain, including human expressions delivered more than one fifth of the globe in the
conventional heartland of Islam amid the last fourteen hundred years.
Islamic craftsmanship incorporates the visual expressions delivered from the 7th century onwards by
individuals who lived inside the region that was possessed by or governed by socially Islamic
populations. It is along these lines an exceptionally troublesome workmanship to characterize in light
of the fact that it covers numerous grounds

How Did The Tanzimat Influence Arab Elites
Furthermore, when the Tanzimat came in the 18th century to reform the administration and
bureaucracy of the empire among other things, many of its policies managed to further include Arab
elites within the Ottoman system in several provinces, while attempting to reduce the decentralized
nature of Ottoman control over Arab provinces. The system of iltizam has been long gone by this time,
yet the power and influence of Arab elites did not disappear with it. The tanzimat, which granted
Arabs citizenship rights brought mutual support from some Arab elites to the empire and vise versa as
the elites detached themselves from those who called for further decentralization, and the Ottomans
allowed Arabs to be part of the empire s administration, while the majority of Arab elites opposed it.

Some of these are based on virtualization of the device, others offer specialized applications for
specific business processes such as emails or VPNs. Furthermore, some products offer remote

they either require a modification of the underlying operating system/kernel or a rooted device. In the
traditional case, the device being used by the employee is provided by the company and IT officials of
the enterprise can make the necessary modifications to the device kernel and Operating System (OS),
to enforce that the required enterprise policies cannot be bypassed by employees. For instance, the
enterprise could certify a certain OS configuration and guarantee the correct execution of binaries. But
modifying the OS of an employee device is not an appealing solution since it prevents employees
from installing updates on their devices, and it requires the consent of the employee. Moreover, in
BYOD scenarios, these solutions cannot be deployed. This stems from the fact that given the device
does not belong to the enterprise, the latter does not have any justification in modifying the underlying

Essay On The Oppression Of Women In The Handmaid s Tale
In The Handmaids Tale woman s bodies have become political tools, public assets in an attempt to
correct the dramatic decline in birth rate due to environmental and social instability under a patriarchal
order. In the novel, Atwood portrays the oppression of woman in Gilead as being economically and
politically maintained by force, as well as being illustrated and controlled linguistically. In Gilead the
idea of female silence is taken literally as woman are forbidden from reading and writing, as a result

Discovering Obstacles Hindering College Graduation
Introduction: According to the National Center for Education Statistics, of the students seeking a
bachelor s degree at a four year university, on average, only 59% of them graduate within six years. It
is unfortunate to note that even with the extra two years, students still struggle to persist through
graduation, due to numerous hindering factors. Hence, the issue of college success now lies within the
central realm of scholarly research, with numerous scholars applying previously known psychological
theories to education, including Kurt Lewin s force field analysis model, Abraham Maslow s need
reduction theory for motivation, and the self efficacy and attribution theories. Together, these theories

Hence, students must learn to properly nourish their bodies with a nutritional diet, enough sleep, and
limited intake of alcohol or dugs. Next, students must feel both safe in regards to financial and
personal security. Financially security is often what both dormers and commuters alike struggle with,
and often take on 20+ hours of work (a damaging effect on school work), or have no gaurantee of
being able to afford to come back to school the next year. Also, students learn in college and enjoy
their time there if they feel safe enough to explore the campus and walk at night, or use the bus. Hence
a low crime rate should be necessary. Thirdly, belonging means students feel they have close friends
and family to talk to and be accepted by both at home and on campus. In this sense, it is easier for
dormers to find friends on campus, but get more distances with those back at home, while the opposite
is true for commuters. However, if both make an effort to get involved in groups of their interest on
campus, and keep in touch with family and friends back home, they can overcome these struggles,
although it may be difficult at first due to the big campus size and busy schedules. Once the basic
needs are met so far, students must feel a sense of self worth and achievement. They need to

The Incident Of Assessment Of The United States Of America
The incident in assessment is the March 29th 2013 Mayflower Oil spill that occurred in Mayflower,
Arkanas, United States of America. The pipeline, named the Pegasus line, belonged to operator,
ExxonMobil, transporting Canadian Wabasca heavy crude from Athabasca Oil sands when the
pipeline failed (McGowan 2013). The Pegasus line a 20 inch line with a total length of 850 mines and
carried approximately 95,000 barrels per day from Patoka, IL to Nederland, TX (ADEQ, 2013). The
pipeline was designed with a distance of 18 miles between isolation valves and was buried
approximately 24 inches where it ruptured (ADEQ, 2013). Figure 1: Oil Spill down residential street
Figure 2: Oil Spill into cove of Conway It was estimated by Exxon that 5,000 barrels (210,000
gallons) of Wabasca heavy crude was spilled from the breach (Koon and Peacock 2013). Due to
elevated Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) readings and due to the amount of oil present on the
ground and in the street, 22 homes were evacuated. The heavy crude oil released made its way down a
residential road, into a bar ditch, into an unnamed creek, and then into a stream to a cove of Lake
Conway (Schwirtz 2012). Figure 1 and 2 are pictures of some of the affected areas and spillage into
residential property. Figure 3: Aerial View of Lake Conway Local residents of Mayflower were

Women in The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven by Sherman Alexie A warrior is recognized
as sonmeone who battles for his/her beliefs. Even after receiving mortal wounds many times, such a
person never leaves the battlefield. However, the inspiring and metaphorical idea of a warrior can
certainly extend beyond the actual battlefield, and into the universal battle of living life. A woman
must face this world like a warrior. She must endure the pain of a past that oppressed her, the adversity
of a present that is only beginning to understand her, and a future that will continuously test her. From

small act of making a child smile can be seen as part of the fight because it serves as an example to
their families to continue in the battle of depression in the name of love, fighting off the surrender to
desensitized detachment from the family. Even if the example isn t always followed, as in the case of
Victor s fleeing father, it is certainly a noble endeavor. A warrior who fights bravely and loses a battle

women characters also extend their steadfast compassion towards their wounded community. Like the

My Experience Of My Life In A Refugee Camp

always told me not to dream of having a luxurious life it is like committing a crime for us. However, I
had a self confident if I work hard and study well I will be able to do anything in life. make a secure
living for my whole family, but I was only a child I did not know anything about what my life would
be like when I grow up. Every time someone asks me what I want to become when I grow up, I used
to say Nurse without a second thought. My parents send me to camp school, it was an English medium
school where they teach us, English, Math, Science, Nepali, and Dzongkha subjects. We were
provided a pencil, eraser, and five note books for each subject. We were told we need to keep all the
things that they provide for a whole year. I was fortunate enough to get a basic education in camp
because not all refugee gets to attend school. I was a very talented student since childhood but due to
lack of higher education, I would not be able to attend college for further education.

My second deaf event didn t involve communicating with the deaf community but it involved a form
of deaf culture within hearing society. In November, I attended a Pride event that had the Gay Men s
Choir. This was the first time I would see an interpreter at an event. I was excited and astonished to
see one. I understood mostly all the signs that were shown but there were a couple I didn t know.
Majority of the time was of course them singing. They sang popular songs such as Bruno Mars, Cher,
and even film scores from The Sound of Music and DreamGirls . I thought it was great for the event to
have interpreters there. I didn t see anyone who was deaf or signing when I got closer to the stage but I

I thought it was odd to have them do that but I thought they must be learning. I noticed the interpreters
were using old and new signs which was interesting. For instance, instead of the crossed arms for I

when I see an individual signing, at the appropriate moment I would try to understand what they are
communicating to learn more signs and to better understand how to communicate to other individuals
who are deaf. I would look at the interpreter instead of paying attention to those who are hearing, for
instance I was watching the interpreter throughout the event or in class when professor Chuck was
signing while watching the film Sound and Fury . The different signs I learned were song, hills, the
phrase say what , 16 going on 17 , loud, either, and Monday. Although this is not an event but I would
like to mention how fascinated I am with our hearing society is more involved with the deaf culture. I
have not seen this much use of ASL since taking the class. For instance, I always get excited now

Systems without a knowledge base, on the other hand, rely on machine learning to analyze clinical
data. There are pros and cons to implementing clinical decision support systems. The foremost
challenge is that a CDSS must be integrated with a healthcare organization s clinical workflow, which
is often already complex. Some clinical decision support systems are standalone products that lack
interoperability with reporting and electronic health record (EHR) software. Furthermore,
incorporating large amounts of data into existing systems places significant strain on application and
infrastructure maintenance. CDSS is a process for enhancing health related decisions and actions with
clinical knowledge and patient information to improve health and healthcare delivery. CDS

Summary Of On Being An Atheist
For many years theists and atheists have argued with one another over the existence of a creator, or
God. H.J. McCloskey published his thoughts on the matter in a journal article in 1968 titled On Being
an Atheist . In his article McCloskey aims to discredit cosmological and teleological arguments for a
creator and he uses the existence of evil in the world as evidence that a divine creator cannot exist.
McCloskey routinely refers to the cosmological and teleological arguments as believers proof of God
s existence; however, this is not an accurate statement. (McCloskey, 1968) Foreman points out in his
presentation; we cannot provide certain proof of many things and just because something cannot be
proven does not mean that it is not a justified belief. Rather than seeking proof of God s existence we
should find the best explanation for things. Regularly the field of science and the legal system gather
multiple points that support an argument to arrive at the best explanation. (Foreman, Approaching the
Question of God s Existence, 2014)
In his writing, McCloskey states that the general basis of the cosmological argument, the existence of
God from the existence of the cosmos... Theists argue however that the contingency of all things in the
universe support the cosmological argument; more simply stated there is no obvious answer as to why
there is anything at all, therefore, something must have created it. (Evans Manis) Additionally
McCloskey claims that the

The Biblical Allusion of Lot s Wife in Slaughterhouse-Five...
Kurt Vonnegut s novel Slaughterhouse Five, uses the biblical allusion of Lot s wife looking back on
the destroyed cities of Sodom and Gomorrah to parallel the story of Billy Pilgrim during the war and
his experience after, when he returns to the United States. Although the reference is brief, it has
profound implications to the portrayal of America during World War II, especially the bombing of
Dresden. Although Lot s wife s action dooms her to turn into a pillar of salt, the narrator emphasizes
her choice to indicate the importance of being compassionate and having hindsight. Ultimately,
Slaughterhouse Five critiques the American social attitude to disregard the unjust nature of its actions
in World War II. Furthermore, Vonnegut s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This attitude refuses to place blame on American government or soldiers for the massacre of over a
hundred thousand civilians. It makes slaughter socially acceptable and necessary. The attitude,
championed by Rumfoord, does more than ignore the value of those lives lost, it refuses to
acknowledge the right of the soldiers who participated and witnessed firebombing to receive an
explanation for their actions. And, in both cases, innocents die or are unable to move forward from the
event. The allusion of Sodom and Gomorrah to Dresden is not a perfect parallel. God punishes Sodom
and Gomorrah because the whole city teems with corruption and sinfulness, while Dresden represents
the Nazi empire, but is not an inherently sinful place. However, the death of each implicates a loss of
innocence. The Nazism is evil, but the people of Dresden represent a complicated evil. They may be
part of the Nazi empire, but they act in a morally acceptable and socially upstanding manner. This
imperfect parallel further gives evidence that America acts in an evil way, even in combating evil. The
novel illustrates this by the industry located in Dresden: The syrup was enriched with vitamins and
minerals. The syrup was for pregnant women (203). The text offers that Americans kill neither sinners
nor heralds of sin, but those

Implicit Personality Traits Tend To Co-Occur In People
Implicit personality theory is a concept used to explain a person s the notions regarding which
personality traits tend to co occur in people. Implicit theories of personality guide people, as social
perceivers, to make interpretations of others, (Dunning, 2007). For example, if a perceiver sees a man
in a smart suit and presumed that dressing well is linked with success, then it is likely that the
perceiver infer that the other person is successful. A person who is understands the concept of implicit
personality theory, can be used to direct the views and beliefs of others in the service of personal or
social objectives; this is known as impression management (IM) or self representation. In other words,
people can employ specific behavioral strategies to manipulate the impressions that their spectators
form, (Dunn Forrin, 2007; Cole, Rozell, 2011). Impression management behaviors occur every day in
any given status. There are several strategies people use to enhance IM: assertive strategies, and
defensive strategies. Assertive strategies take into account the use of dynamic ... Show more content

Wireless Sensor Network ( Wsn )
Wireless sensor network From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia A wireless sensor network (WSN) is a
computer network consisting of spatially distributed autonomous devices using sensors to
cooperatively monitor physical or environmental conditions, such as temperature, sound, vibration,
pressure, motion or pollutants, at different locations.[1] The development of wireless sensor networks
was originally motivated by military applications such as battlefield surveillance. However, wireless
sensor networks are now used in many civilian application areas, including environment and habitat
monitoring, healthcare applications, home automation, and traffic control.[1][2] In addition to one or
more sensors, each node in a sensor network is typically equipped with a radio transceiver or other
wireless communications device, a small microcontroller, and an energy source, usually a battery. The
size a single sensor node can vary from shoebox sized nodes down to devices the size of grain of dust.
[1] The cost of sensor nodes is similarly variable, ranging from hundreds of dollars to a few cents,
depending on the size of the sensor network and the complexity required of individual sensor nodes.
[1] Size and cost constraints on sensor nodes result in corresponding constraints on resources such as
energy, memory, computational speed and bandwidth.[1] In computer science, wireless sensor
networks are an active research area with numerous workshops and conferences arranged each year.

The Concept of Homeostasis Particularly in Relation to...
The Concept of Homeostasis Particularly in Relation to Temperature Control In complex organisms
organs are united to form organ systems such as the digestive, reproductive, nervous and muscular
systems. The fact that all of the organ systems generally work in a highly coordinated manner suggests
strongly that organisms possess distinct physiological control mechanisms that make the coordination
of such highly complex processes possible. One of the most interesting features of such control
mechanisms is that they are built into the system to regulate it. The controls are self adjusting and do
not require constant monitoring from an outside agent. Such controls maintain the system in
equilibrium. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Factors that must be kept constant include chemical constituents, osmotic pressure, carbon dioxide and
temperature, the latter being the main feature of this discussion. Many physiological processes are
homeostatic in that they are directly or indirectly responsible for regulating the internal environment
All animals produce body heat as the result of metabolic processes. Even in the most efficient animal
most of the energy released is lost for useful work. Some animals are able to use this waste heat, to
rise above the restrictions of the environmental temperature variation and remain active all year round.
There are two types of animal categories, homeotherms and poikilotherms. More useful and well
known terms are ectothermic and endothermic respectfully. Endotherms are warm blooded animals,
which are mammals and birds. Their body temperature is individual to the environmental temperature;
this is regulated by physiological and behavioral means. An advantage of being endothermic is
considerable, by maintaining a steady body temperature they are free to exploit a wider range of
environmental habitats. The temperature of all warm blooded animals is not

Abdominal surgery means that your stomach muscles will never be the same again. This is the main
muscle group that supports the torso in the front of the body. If surgery is required on this area, then
there will be a weakness in the torso. Using a waist cincher will protect the area of the incision and
will strengthen the torso. When stomach surgery is necessary, the muscle group known as your core
will be weakened and will need to be built back up. This will happen any time a muscle group is cut

Cyber Security, Antivirus Programs, Preventing Cyberattacks
Abstract
Data compromised by hackers, network outages, computer viruses and other factors affect our lives in
ways that ranges of inconvenient to life threatening. As the number of mobile users, digital
applications and data networks increase, so do the opportunities for exploitation. Through the course
of this paper we will be covering: what is cyber security, antivirus programs, preventing cyberattacks,
and how to strengthen passwords.
.What Is Cyber Security
Cybersecurity is the body of technologies, processes and practices designed to protect networks,
computers, programs and data from attack, damage or unauthorized access. In a computing context,
the term security implies cybersecurity.
Governments, military, corporations, financial ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the most problematic elements of cybersecurity is the quickly and constantly evolving nature
of security risks. The traditional approach has been to focus most resources on the most crucial system
components and protect against the biggest known threats, which necessitated leaving some less
important system components undefended and some less dangerous risks not protected against (Rouse,
2010). Such an approach is insufficient in the current environment. Adam Vincent, CTO public sector
at Layer 7 Technologies (a security services provider to federal agencies including Defense
Department organizations), describes the problem:
The threat is advancing quicker than we can keep up with it. The threat changes faster than our idea of
the risk. It s no longer possible to write a large white paper about the risk to a particular system. You
would be rewriting the white paper constantly... (Rouse, 2010)
(Vincent, 2010)
To deal with the current environment, advisory organizations are promoting a more proactive and
adaptive approach. The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), for example, recently
issued updated guidelines in its risk assessment framework that recommended a shift toward
continuous monitoring and real time assessments. According to a December 2010 analysis of U.S.
spending plans, the federal government has allotted over $13 billion annually to cybersecurity

Due to the continuous rise in unemployment throughout Midwest, communities are feeling the grunt
of the storm. According to Pete Buttigieg, the current mayor of South Bend, Indiana, keeping the
community together and making sure it remains one is an extremely difficult challenge ( Reinvention
in the rust belt ). If members in communities throughout the Midwest or Rust Belt such as South Bend
continue to lose jobs, therefore, there will be fewer wages and less money circulating, poverty and
crime rates will continue to spike and there will eventually be no community left at all. Currently in
South Bend, ...Violent crime remains nearly twice the Indiana average; 28% of its inhabitants live
below the poverty line and 75% of children in public ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Rocky 1976
Sports films are one of the most common genres in the movie industry. They usually have a simple
plot leading to a huge sporting event. There are several different ways to write a sports story: sports,
biography, comedy, drama, or even family movies. The 1976 film Rocky is an excellent example of a
sports drama. A sports drama incorporates dramatic elements into a sports storyline. 1 Rocky is a
classic sports drama. It influenced the film industry through its success, cinematography, and plot.
Rocky changed the film industry through its success. The movie won a Golden Globe award in 1977
for Best Motion Picture (Drama). This showed the Rocky really was the best movie in its genre at that
time. It is also believed by critics to be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This created a sense of realism that filmmakers try to copy to this day. With such a low budget,
Alvidsen had to make do with what he had so he was forced to film a small group of people crowded
together multiple times to create the feeling of a large crowd. He also had to ask Stallone to re write
some scenes because of their lack of funds for extras and equipment. This acted as a way to show how
gritty and raw this story really was. Due to the low budget of the film; Alvidsen had to make do with
the resources they had and then incorporated the situation into the plot of the film. It made the film
very realistic and believable. For example, the ice rink scene was supposed to have a crowded rink.
But, they couldn t afford all the extras so they had to change the script, and it became a closed rink in
which the camera stayed focused on only Rocky and Adrian the whole time. Rocky influenced the
film industry through its plot. The main plot of Rocky is the main character s desire to make his or her
life better. This theme is one of the most common themes in films. Rocky s effect on this type of
theme was monumental though because it was one of the first of its kind to be made with a small
budget, unknown cast, and limited resources. This proves that this film is unique by showing how
differently the director and actors

Goodlife Fitness
1.0
INTRODUCTION
1.1
Company Background
In Canada, the fitness market was growing at approximately 6 percent a year due to some reasons like
demographic changes, marketing programs and preference of individuals. GoodLife Fitness Clubs was
founded by David Patchell Evans in 1979 as a sole proprietorship. Philosophies of the company were
to provide health, fitness and self esteem so that people feel better about themselves. GoodLife has
become Canada s largest health club chains, with 40 clubs in Ontario and Quebec by May 2000 with
over 70,000 members. Head office of GoodLife was located in London, Ontario with the role of
providing leadership and support for the franchisees and company owned clubs. From the beginning,

Top management of GoodLife was not happy with this figure as they are losing 40 percent of its
customers annually. With an increase of 1 percent customer retention rate, the company will earn
$35,000 of gross revenue. There are several problems and intermediate causes that lead to the low
customer retention rate issue and the cause and effect relationship was shown in diagram 1. The major
problems are low customer satisfaction, low brand equity and personal factors. Customer satisfaction
in GoodLife is low mainly due to little or no personal relationship and equipment or facilities
problems. GoodLife received dozens of verbal and written complaints or concerns every week dealt
with equipments and staff problems. In addition, we have identified some intermediate causes that
would lead to no personal relationship problem. For instance, shortage of database marketing and
branding exercise might directly or indirectly induce this problem. Also, branding exercise was seen
as an important factor that contributes to low brand equity as a good brand equity consists of both
brand awareness and brand meaning elements. Overall, we think that no personal relationship was the
central problem that would directly or indirectly lead to the issue of low customer retention rate. We
must focus on this problem if we want to increase customer retention rate in GoodLife.

Definition Essay About Heroes
You will meet many heroes in your lifetime and you probably can t tell by looking at them. A hero is
someone who had put themselves in a risky situation with the intent of helping others. Most of the
population believes that heroes have to wear a big red cape or fly to be a hero, but those aren t the only
heroes out there. Another criteria that people put on heros are that they had to be recognized in text
books to be heros. Heroes are everyday people who have sacrificed for others, they are shoved face
first into a dangerous scenario and try their hardest to help others, most of these times you only have
to be brave for 20 minutes, if they are trying to speak out against the system they don t get silenced by
the system. For most of these

A Speech On The Dark Side
I was in a poor mood the moment I opened my eyes. Not only did I have a headache, my dad left the
house early. I knew where he had snuck off to and I should finally realize there was no use raising my
hopes. He will never keep his promise no matter how much I fool myself into believing his lies. He
was addicted to gambling and no amount of hearing his hollow words about quitting will ever happen.
The one button he always pushes is when he says his little problem is much better than him being a
booze hound or a drug addict. I had finally gotten tired of him using this excuse and counted with it
didn t matter in the end because all of them can get you put into the hospital or in the ground just as
fast. I felt ashamed about last ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
How could it not be with my father always at the track and me at my part time jobs and going to
afternoon, night, and weekend classes at the local community college? I did burn out a few lightbulbs
studying several nights in a roll before exams, but my books had my attention more than the TV in the
living room that was collecting dust. A single lightbulb use less electric then the boob tube. I was also
fortunate that my part time jobs gave me numerous opportunities to study. I worked at the exit gate of
the parking lot at the mall during the day when there were very few shoppers. Because of gas fumes
you could only work so many days in a row. I also worked at the local condiment plant as quantity
control. That job had me checking all outgoing shipments heading north. It was always the smallest
orders with the shortest routes, but it was the one that had the most complaints of missing items (until
I started doing the quantity control). The job was simple. Once an order for the trucks are counted and
tagged for each supermarket on the trucker s route is done, there is nothing left to do until the
Loadmaster call me over to check on the next shipment. Oh, but there was one more. My last part time
job was working at a bookstore as a cashier during the day. It s not unusual for someone working at a
book store to see them nose deep into a book. The benefit working this particular job is that no one
bothered you unless they needed help knowing which

Examples Of Hero Cycle Of Harry Potter
The Hero Cycle of Harry Potter
What is a hero s cycle? The hero s cycle is a quest pattern that all heroes (someone who embarks on a
quest) follow. The hero s cycle is found in almost all myths, legends and novels. A great example of
the hero s cycle could be seen in the novel, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer s Stone. The main character,
Harry Potter, goes through three important stages of the cycle, the departure, initiation, and the return
stage. Theses stages have subdivisions which not only contributes to the growth of the hero, but also
lays out what a hero goes through in order to achieve his/her quest.
Joseph Campbell, the founder of the hero s journey precisely lays out each stage and subdivision on
what the hero goes through. The hero first starts in the ordinary world where he is used to everything.
Harry who lives in the cubby under the stairs, is used to being bullied by his uncle, aunt and his
cousin. Harry s journey begins when he gets a mail. This mail is important because Harry has never
received a letter before due to the fact that he has no family. As he is opening the envelope Dudley,
Harry s cousin, sanches the mail from Harry and gives it to his father, Vernon.
Vernon refuses Harry s call to adventure by ripping, burning, and shredding the mail Harry receives.
Joseph Campbell s Hero With A Thousand Faces, as summarized by Christopher Vogler, states, A Hero
often refuses [or is reluctant] to take on the Journey because of fears and insecurities that have

Cultural Beliefs
Cultural Beliefs
Every culture has different beliefs on certain issues such as death, gender, and spiritual practices.
Cultural beliefs influence the way patients understand health concepts and how they take care of
themselves. Therefore, knowing a patients background and culture is a helpful key to solving certain
problems. The Hispanic culture is an old and very unique culture that has strong beliefs concerning
death, dying, gender, family, and spiritual practices. Relationships are very important in the Hispanic
culture. The majority of the Hispanic culture are Roman Catholics which means they believe that the
soul is eternal and continues on after the physical body has died. Roman Catholics consider human life
sacred. The Hispanic culture takes family very seriously. Most people resist of the idea of putting a
loved one in the nursing home because they want a family member to be there for their last breath.
Many times, religious values keep an ill person from feeling comfortable because their religion does
not allow pain medication. When a person is on their death bed, last rites are given by a priest, ill
person gives their last confession, and the priest offers absolution. When a loved one has passed away
the family will hold a wake. A wake in the Hispanic culture is a time for family members to share
memories of the deceased. A funeral is held in a church and the casket is carried to the final location.
A burial is followed by the church service. According to the

The Influence Of Video Games On American Culture
Video games have been known as a key factor in consumption in the past ten years. A valid argument
can be made that more people spend their money on video games than films and music. In today s
generation, video games have become a part of our American culture. Some of the most precious
memories kids have upon their childhood are the video games they played when they were young. For
example, I grew up playing Pokemon, Guitar Hero, Kingdom Hearts, Mario Kart, and list goes on and
on. My friends grew up playing Call of Duty, Super Smash Brothers, and several different types of
sports games. Adults may have spent time in the arcade when they were young playing Pacman,
Donkey Kong, and Pong. For the most part, video games have had a positive ... Show more content on

video games manipulates people into causing these heinous actions. They are saying that playing

(DBA). When this test is completed with no errors in the delivery route reports, the next portion of the
system can be tested. The test for the accounting system will use the same mock delivery schedule to
ensure that all mileage amounts are correctly calculated. The DBA will also send data through the
network to ensure that the mileage calculations are formatted properly to work with the accounting
system. After the webpage has been created by the IT generalist and the DBA, several employees will

  • 2. Geometric Krater Essay Geometric Krater The Geometric Krater is a magnificent piece of Greek Art. In the eight century, vase painting became very popular. The vases show a great show a great variety of style and development over the centuries, beginning with the geometric and very linear style. They then continued through the oriental style which borrowed images from the eastern world, and into the classical era with mythology portrayed with as much classical accuracy as the ancient Greek potters and painters could muster. The majority of the vases were made of a ceramic material which could easily be used for everyday uses, however in this time, the artists would then paint on them in order to decorate them and make them ornate enough to be used for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the upper band, the shroud, raised to reveal the corpse is an abstract checkerboard like backdrop, and the funerary couch has only two legs because the artist had no interest in suggesting the depth or representing space, ( Kleiner 94). This is a typical aspect of geometric design. The people, animals, and objects are all two dimensional. The figures are actually made up of very simplified shapes, not meant to be realistic looking. Upon examining one of the people depicted on the vase one may see that the bodies are comprised of only basic shapes. The torso is made of a triangle, while the head is a combination of circles. Even the arms are slender rectangles with triangular hands. The painters were not focused on the realistic aspects, but rather the symbolic representation. In their defense, it is clear to the viewers that the figures are people without the painters having to spend an enormous amount of time on them. Upon researching the geometric style of Greek vase painting, I realized exactly how unique the style is compared to all other types of vases, even other vases made by the Greeks themselves. After the geometric style care the orientalizing style. Though the orientalizing style sequentially follows the geometric style, it does not follow it in other aspects. Rather than having a very linearly organized style of painting decorating the pot, the oriental style is much more freely moving. The pictures were much more scattered and ... • 3. Islamic Art And Hinduism Art Every religion in this world has their own culture and thereby their own creative forms, like art, dance, architecture, music and craft. Like the tradition varies from each religion to religion so as their Art. I chose to compare Art forms of Islamic Art and Hinduism Art, as Art have always exited me and inspired me in many ideas, and secondly arts have its own history and reasoning. Islamic Art Islamic craftsmanship contrasts, thusly, from such other terms as Buddhist, Christian or Hindu workmanship, for it alludes not just to expressions of the human experience delivered by or for the religion of Islam yet to human expressions of every single Islamic society. Islamic workmanship was not so much made by or for Muslims, for some Islamic craftsmanship was made by Christian, Jewish, or even Hindu craftsmen working for Muslim supporters, and some Islamic workmanship was made for non Muslim benefactors. The term does not allude to a specific style or period, however covers an expansive domain, including human expressions delivered more than one fifth of the globe in the conventional heartland of Islam amid the last fourteen hundred years. Islamic craftsmanship incorporates the visual expressions delivered from the 7th century onwards by individuals who lived inside the region that was possessed by or governed by socially Islamic populations. It is along these lines an exceptionally troublesome workmanship to characterize in light of the fact that it covers numerous grounds ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

How Did The Tanzimat Influence Arab Elites Furthermore, when the Tanzimat came in the 18th century to reform the administration and bureaucracy of the empire among other things, many of its policies managed to further include Arab elites within the Ottoman system in several provinces, while attempting to reduce the decentralized nature of Ottoman control over Arab provinces. The system of iltizam has been long gone by this time, yet the power and influence of Arab elites did not disappear with it. The tanzimat, which granted Arabs citizenship rights brought mutual support from some Arab elites to the empire and vise versa as the elites detached themselves from those who called for further decentralization, and the Ottomans allowed Arabs to be part of the empire s administration, while the majority of Arab elites opposed it. ... Some of these are based on virtualization of the device, others offer specialized applications for specific business processes such as emails or VPNs. Furthermore, some products offer remote connections to the enterprise networks. Most of these solutions, however, exhibit the disadvantage that they either require a modification of the underlying operating system/kernel or a rooted device. In the traditional case, the device being used by the employee is provided by the company and IT officials of the enterprise can make the necessary modifications to the device kernel and Operating System (OS), to enforce that the required enterprise policies cannot be bypassed by employees. For instance, the enterprise could certify a certain OS configuration and guarantee the correct execution of binaries. But modifying the OS of an employee device is not an appealing solution since it prevents employees from installing updates on their devices, and it requires the consent of the employee. Moreover, in BYOD scenarios, these solutions cannot be deployed. This stems from the fact that given the device does not belong to the enterprise, the latter does not have any justification in modifying the underlying ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Essay On The Oppression Of Women In The Handmaid s Tale In The Handmaids Tale woman s bodies have become political tools, public assets in an attempt to correct the dramatic decline in birth rate due to environmental and social instability under a patriarchal order. In the novel, Atwood portrays the oppression of woman in Gilead as being economically and politically maintained by force, as well as being illustrated and controlled linguistically. In Gilead the idea of female silence is taken literally as woman are forbidden from reading and writing, as a result all writing has been removed from public spaces and replaced with pictures, they decided that even the names of shops were too much temptation. Discovering Obstacles Hindering College Graduation Introduction: According to the National Center for Education Statistics, of the students seeking a bachelor s degree at a four year university, on average, only 59% of them graduate within six years. It is unfortunate to note that even with the extra two years, students still struggle to persist through graduation, due to numerous hindering factors. Hence, the issue of college success now lies within the central realm of scholarly research, with numerous scholars applying previously known psychological theories to education, including Kurt Lewin s force field analysis model, Abraham Maslow s need reduction theory for motivation, and the self efficacy and attribution theories. Hence, students must learn to properly nourish their bodies with a nutritional diet, enough sleep, and limited intake of alcohol or dugs. Next, students must feel both safe in regards to financial and personal security. Financially security is often what both dormers and commuters alike struggle with, and often take on 20+ hours of work (a damaging effect on school work), or have no gaurantee of being able to afford to come back to school the next year. Also, students learn in college and enjoy their time there if they feel safe enough to explore the campus and walk at night, or use the bus. Hence a low crime rate should be necessary. Thirdly, belonging means students feel they have close friends and family to talk to and be accepted by both at home and on campus. In this sense, it is easier for dormers to find friends on campus, but get more distances with those back at home, while the opposite is true for commuters. However, if both make an effort to get involved in groups of their interest on campus, and keep in touch with family and friends back home, they can overcome these struggles, although it may be difficult at first due to the big campus size and busy schedules. The Pegasus line a 20 inch line with a total length of 850 mines and carried approximately 95,000 barrels per day from Patoka, IL to Nederland, TX (ADEQ, 2013). The pipeline was designed with a distance of 18 miles between isolation valves and was buried approximately 24 inches where it ruptured (ADEQ, 2013). Figure 1: Oil Spill down residential street Figure 2: Oil Spill into cove of Conway It was estimated by Exxon that 5,000 barrels (210,000 gallons) of Wabasca heavy crude was spilled from the breach (Koon and Peacock 2013). Due to elevated Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) readings and due to the amount of oil present on the ground and in the street, 22 homes were evacuated. The heavy crude oil released made its way down a residential road, into a bar ditch, into an unnamed creek, and then into a stream to a cove of Lake Conway (Schwirtz 2012). Women in The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven by Sherman Alexie A warrior is recognized as sonmeone who battles for his/her beliefs. Even after receiving mortal wounds many times, such a person never leaves the battlefield. However, the inspiring and metaphorical idea of a warrior can certainly extend beyond the actual battlefield, and into the universal battle of living life. A woman must face this world like a warrior. In November, I attended a Pride event that had the Gay Men s Choir. This was the first time I would see an interpreter at an event. I was excited and astonished to see one. I understood mostly all the signs that were shown but there were a couple I didn t know. Majority of the time was of course them singing. They sang popular songs such as Bruno Mars, Cher, and even film scores from The Sound of Music and DreamGirls . I thought it was great for the event to have interpreters there. Since taking ASL, when I see an individual signing, at the appropriate moment I would try to understand what they are communicating to learn more signs and to better understand how to communicate to other individuals who are deaf. I would look at the interpreter instead of paying attention to those who are hearing, for instance I was watching the interpreter throughout the event or in class when professor Chuck was signing while watching the film Sound and Fury . The different signs I learned were song, hills, the phrase say what , 16 going on 17 , loud, either, and Monday. Although this is not an event but I would like to mention how fascinated I am with our hearing society is more involved with the deaf culture. The foremost challenge is that a CDSS must be integrated with a healthcare organization s clinical workflow, which is often already complex. Some clinical decision support systems are standalone products that lack interoperability with reporting and electronic health record (EHR) software. Furthermore, incorporating large amounts of data into existing systems places significant strain on application and infrastructure maintenance. • 13. Summary Of On Being An Atheist For many years theists and atheists have argued with one another over the existence of a creator, or God. H.J. McCloskey published his thoughts on the matter in a journal article in 1968 titled On Being an Atheist . In his article McCloskey aims to discredit cosmological and teleological arguments for a creator and he uses the existence of evil in the world as evidence that a divine creator cannot exist. McCloskey routinely refers to the cosmological and teleological arguments as believers proof of God s existence; however, this is not an accurate statement. (McCloskey, 1968) Foreman points out in his presentation; we cannot provide certain proof of many things and just because something cannot be proven does not mean that it is not a justified belief. Rather than seeking proof of God s existence we should find the best explanation for things. Regularly the field of science and the legal system gather multiple points that support an argument to arrive at the best explanation. (Foreman, Approaching the Question of God s Existence, 2014) In his writing, McCloskey states that the general basis of the cosmological argument, the existence of God from the existence of the cosmos... Theists argue however that the contingency of all things in the universe support the cosmological argument; more simply stated there is no obvious answer as to why there is anything at all, therefore, something must have created it. • 14. The Biblical Allusion of Lot s Wife in Slaughterhouse-Five... Kurt Vonnegut s novel Slaughterhouse Five, uses the biblical allusion of Lot s wife looking back on the destroyed cities of Sodom and Gomorrah to parallel the story of Billy Pilgrim during the war and his experience after, when he returns to the United States. Although the reference is brief, it has profound implications to the portrayal of America during World War II, especially the bombing of Dresden. Although Lot s wife s action dooms her to turn into a pillar of salt, the narrator emphasizes her choice to indicate the importance of being compassionate and having hindsight. Ultimately, Slaughterhouse Five critiques the American social attitude to disregard the unjust nature of its actions in World War II. Furthermore, Vonnegut s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This attitude refuses to place blame on American government or soldiers for the massacre of over a hundred thousand civilians. It makes slaughter socially acceptable and necessary. The attitude, championed by Rumfoord, does more than ignore the value of those lives lost, it refuses to acknowledge the right of the soldiers who participated and witnessed firebombing to receive an explanation for their actions. And, in both cases, innocents die or are unable to move forward from the event. The allusion of Sodom and Gomorrah to Dresden is not a perfect parallel. God punishes Sodom and Gomorrah because the whole city teems with corruption and sinfulness, while Dresden represents the Nazi empire, but is not an inherently sinful place. However, the death of each implicates a loss of innocence. The Nazism is evil, but the people of Dresden represent a complicated evil. They may be part of the Nazi empire, but they act in a morally acceptable and socially upstanding manner. This imperfect parallel further gives evidence that America acts in an evil way, even in combating evil. Implicit Personality Traits Tend To Co-Occur In People Implicit personality theory is a concept used to explain a person s the notions regarding which personality traits tend to co occur in people. Implicit theories of personality guide people, as social perceivers, to make interpretations of others, (Dunning, 2007). • 17. Wireless Sensor Network ( Wsn ) Wireless sensor network From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia A wireless sensor network (WSN) is a computer network consisting of spatially distributed autonomous devices using sensors to cooperatively monitor physical or environmental conditions, such as temperature, sound, vibration, pressure, motion or pollutants, at different locations.[1] The development of wireless sensor networks was originally motivated by military applications such as battlefield surveillance. However, wireless sensor networks are now used in many civilian application areas, including environment and habitat monitoring, healthcare applications, home automation, and traffic control.[1][2] In addition to one or more sensors, each node in a sensor network is typically equipped with a radio transceiver or other wireless communications device, a small microcontroller, and an energy source, usually a battery. The size a single sensor node can vary from shoebox sized nodes down to devices the size of grain of dust. [1] The cost of sensor nodes is similarly variable, ranging from hundreds of dollars to a few cents, depending on the size of the sensor network and the complexity required of individual sensor nodes. [1] Size and cost constraints on sensor nodes result in corresponding constraints on resources such as energy, memory, computational speed and bandwidth.[1] In computer science, wireless sensor networks are an active research area with numerous workshops and conferences arranged each year. ... The Concept of Homeostasis Particularly in Relation to Temperature Control In complex organisms organs are united to form organ systems such as the digestive, reproductive, nervous and muscular systems. The fact that all of the organ systems generally work in a highly coordinated manner suggests strongly that organisms possess distinct physiological control mechanisms that make the coordination of such highly complex processes possible. One of the most interesting features of such control mechanisms is that they are built into the system to regulate it. The controls are self adjusting and do not require constant monitoring from an outside agent. Such controls maintain the system in equilibrium. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Factors that must be kept constant include chemical constituents, osmotic pressure, carbon dioxide and temperature, the latter being the main feature of this discussion. Many physiological processes are homeostatic in that they are directly or indirectly responsible for regulating the internal environment All animals produce body heat as the result of metabolic processes. Even in the most efficient animal most of the energy released is lost for useful work. Some animals are able to use this waste heat, to rise above the restrictions of the environmental temperature variation and remain active all year round. There are two types of animal categories, homeotherms and poikilotherms. More useful and well known terms are ectothermic and endothermic respectfully. Endotherms are warm blooded animals, which are mammals and birds. Their body temperature is individual to the environmental temperature; this is regulated by physiological and behavioral means. An advantage of being endothermic is considerable, by maintaining a steady body temperature they are free to exploit a wider range of environmental habitats. One of the most problematic elements of cybersecurity is the quickly and constantly evolving nature of security risks. The traditional approach has been to focus most resources on the most crucial system components and protect against the biggest known threats, which necessitated leaving some less important system components undefended and some less dangerous risks not protected against (Rouse, 2010). Such an approach is insufficient in the current environment. Adam Vincent, CTO public sector at Layer 7 Technologies (a security services provider to federal agencies including Defense Department organizations), describes the problem: The threat is advancing quicker than we can keep up with it. The threat changes faster than our idea of the risk. It s no longer possible to write a large white paper about the risk to a particular system. You would be rewriting the white paper constantly...
