The Basseri of Iran
The Basseri culture is one of the traditional Pastoral nomads who inhabit in Iran. The Basseri speak
dialect of Faris. But the majority knows only the Basseri dialect, but there few that speak Turkish or
Arabic. In these research paper I will be writing a little of the aspects that identify the Pastoralism. I
will also be writing about the Basseri culture and the many aspects that identify their economy, social
organization and religion.
Pastoralism is an economy based on herding. They mainly maintain herds of animals and use their

Labor is also divided among household members by sex and age, but few tasks are allowed to only
one sex or one age. Domestic tasks are mainly done by woman and girls. They prepare food, wash and
mend cloth, and do spinning and weaving. The men and boys provide the wood and the water. They
also participate in the repairs of the equipment and their tents. The general level of nutrition and
hygene among the basseri is quite high. They are relatively healthy and robust, which contributes to a
high fertility rate in females of the tribe. The average of children a woman can have varies from three
to five.
Among the Baseri, each household has from 6 to 12 donkeys, and less than 100 sheep and goats. Since
their herds are very important to them they spend great amount of time tending them. Sometimes two
to five tents may combine their flock and entrust them to a single shepherded. The shepherd is always
a male and he is occupied with the flock all day .
During the winter, groups of two or five tents associated in herding units make up local camps that
separate each tent three or four kilometers. At other time of the year the camps are larger and usually
number ten to forty tents. The members of the camp are very clearly founded social group and their
relationships to each other are continuing neighbors. The maintance of the camp as a social unit
requires daily agreement on questions of migration, the selection of campsites, and other economically

Social Allegory In Lord Of The Flies
When William Golding s Lord of the Flies is viewed as a social allegory, the characters show the fall
of mankind. Ralph, whose very name means counselor , governs over the island. For instance, he is
elected leader when he holds the trumpet thing which [lets] him be chief (16). Then when they are
atop the mountain and the conch...[ceases] to exist after it is destroyed, taking away whatever power
Ralph may or may not have had and imploding the very premise of civility and human decency (174).
This event shatters the balance between power and government and triggers the downfall into
savagery even further than what was seen before. Ralph soon thereafter is chased and almost burned to
death, government and order burning as well under the destructive force of power and base human

In fact, we see him struggle to keep power when he is gifted back his choir by Ralph, the choir

subjects, going as far as to beating their own and hunting Ralph down with the intent to kill the only
shred of modernism remaining. They hurt us... They re going to hunt you (181). Jack has abused his
power and lost control, leading toward the impending downfall of his rule and the loss of civility, as

African American Vernacular English
African American Vernacular English Background: African American Vernacular English (AAVE) is
the variety previously known as Black English Vernacular or Vernacular Black English by
sociolinguists, and commonly called Ebonics outside the academic community. However, some
characteristics of AAVE are seemingly unique in its structure. It also includes a number of standard
and nonstandard English varieties are spoken by the US and the Caribbean people. AAVE has been the
core of many public debates and also the analysis of this variety has encouraged and sustained debates
amongst sociolinguists. Some speakers may use some special aspects of pronunciation and
vocabulary. Nevertheless, the grammatical features are not connected with the variety. Several
sociolinguists would reserve the term AAVE for varieties which are marked by the existence of
specific distinctive grammatical features and some of them are discussed below. The history of AAVE
and what language varieties it is related to are also a matter of argument. Some scholars confirm that
AAVE developed out a connection between speakers of West African languages and speakers of
vernacular English varieties. According to such an opinion, West Africans learnt English on
plantations in the southern Coastal States from very few native speakers. Some say that this led to the
development of a rudimentary pidgin, a very simple language which has been extended through a
process of colorization later. VOCABULARY: AAVE

The Effects of Black Death
The Effects of Black Death
Black death was a bubonic plague, which took the lives of millions of people in the mid 1300s. This
plague was caused by a bacterium called Yersinia pestis, which lived in fleas. Therefore, transmitting
the bacteria to its rodent hosts every time they would feed. The bacteria then killed the rodents leaving
the fleas without hosts to feed on and in result they would feed on the humans. (Bailey 7 12) Most
people who were infected would last two to three days before they died, no longer than two to three
weeks. The plague moved rapidly, medical researchers believe it could have moved as fast as eight to
twelve miles a day. The plague was first encountered in China and it spread through Asia and into
Europe in a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His justification was that his wife was old and she would cause no suspicion. (212) The standards and
requirements of the Church had lowered tremendously. Placing men in high places whose intentions
were immoral. The priests knew the demand there was for them therefore, they raised their fees to
make more money. The fees had gone so high that the people began to complain to the archbishop of
Canterbury Simon Islip, an he in response issued the constitution Effrenata on May 28th, 1350, which
it aimed to keep the priests from charging excessive amounts of money for their services during the
plague. The constitution was called Effrenata because that was the first word of the document, which
it meant, unbridled as in unbridled greed of the human race . Islip s intention to help the people
through the constitution of Effrenata did not have much success due to greedy priests taking advantage
of those in need. (Byrne 68)
Another aspect of life that was highly affected was society. During the plague and after the plague
society s values and faith began to change. When the Black Death began taking the lives of the clergy
just as well as everyone else, society began to wonder if the clergy were as powerful and as united to
God as they had once believed, because no matter their prayer the plague was still raging. The people
lost faith in the clergy and by the end of the plague the Church had lost its authority, not only for the

Essay on Exploiting Music Publishing Copyrights
Music Publishing Essay Over the past fifty years, the British Music Publishing industry has undergone
dramatic changes. It has evolved as an entity with innovations in technology, changes and creations of
laws and new mediums to promote and exploit songs to a wider audience. Therefore, the way in which
the music publishing industry operates and exploits its assets has completely transformed, and
continues to do so at a rapid pace. This paper will attempt to explore the ways in which publishers
exploit song copyrights and the way in which this has changed over the past 60 years. It is important
to define what is meant by copyright and its role within the industry. The Performing Right Society
website states: Copyright ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is vital for a publishing company to register with all relevant collection societies, who would obtain
royalties in the territory they operate in. In the United Kingdom, a music publisher will typically
assign its rights to the Performing Right Society, who would collect all the public performance
royalties on the publisher s behalf. This is lucrative for publishers, as any space that is open to the
public wanting to use music must acquire a public performance license.
The ways in which intellectual property has been exploited through public performance over the past
50 years have significantly changed. During the 1960s, the BBC monopolized the radio industry with
national and regional programs, until the emergence of offshore pirate radio. This caused the BBC to
rename its stations and reintroduce local radio in order to counter the success of the illegal stations.
1973 introduced commercial radio, which saw a large increase of stations and shows available. This
had a big impact on music publishing companies, as they could access a much wider audience through
the larger range of outlets to exploit their songs, and subsequently receive performance royalties.
Radio expansion has increased throughout the years with the introduction of DAB radio, and internet
radio stations.
Furthermore, the expansion of television

Fish Pedicure Essay
6. Fish Pedicure
You ve probably heard about this before. A fish pedicure is an unconventional method of treating your
feet. It involves dipping your feet in an aquarium filled with tiny fish.
The fish will swarm your feet and eat away all the dirt and dead skin cells in your feet. This type of
treatment is natural, organic, sustainable, and does not involve any chemical ingredients. The fish will
also benefit especially since you are providing them a source of food.
On the other hand, not all people are suitable to this kind of foot treatment. Some people have a more
sensitive skin than others and cannot sit through the entire session because they find it ticklish. It may
be difficult for some people to contain their laughter as the tiny fishes nibble at their dead skin cells.
However, a fish pedicure is definitely worth trying. Who knows? You might just find ... Show more

Athletic Pedicure
This type of pedicure caters to the sporty and athletic clientele. If you regularly exercise then this type
of foot treatment may just be for you. Technically, what makes this tailored for the typical active
person is their tired and overused feet.
Compared to the rest of us, if you are often running, exercising at the gym or participating in other
forms of sport, then your feet and legs are under more pressure and is prone to wear and tear. Active
and sporty people often experience more foot problems including athlete s foot. They usually have
thicker calluses, blisters, and nail injuries.
Your feet are usually treated the same way as a regular pedicure. However, your pedicurist is more
careful with your feet because you may have more foot issues compared to the standard client. An
athletic pedicure uses foot soak and lotion to help soften your feet followed by a reflexology to ease
your strained muscles. http://svmassagetherapy.com/blog/wp

How Does Swimming Affect The Body
Competitive sports effect the body in positive and negative ways. Sports can be good for a persons
character and often result in life long friendships, and bonds. Sports join the world in an inseparable
bond, that is competition. Swimming is a beautiful sport that takes grace and endurance. Swimming
also builds lung endurance. But, the chlorine in the pools cause respiratory issues such as asthma. We
must start to fix this issue to restore health to swimmers. For most of my life I have competitively
swam and for the past three years I have lifeguarded, I am often in a chlorinated environment. I have
noticed that when competing and working I am more prone to having chest colds and breathing
trouble. To understand chlorines role in causing respiratory discomfort, we have to understand our
environment and how the water density affects the lungs. When people exercise they raise their heart
rate. When ones heart rate is rapid it is up to their lungs, and respiratory system to provide the blood
with oxygen. With competitive swimming a swimmers heart rate will rise and the swimmer will need
a to breathe, but swimming has a low oxygen intake compared to other sports. The water is 800 times
the density of the air. This shrinks the airway 2 millimeters, which constricts the chest, consequently
constricting breathe (Swimming and asthma). Let me introduce two words: hydrastic load, and
thoracic cavity. The hydrastic load is when a person is in a vertical position, submerged in water.

Examples Of Foolishness In The Great Gatsby

Within The Great Gatsby, there are characters who have secrets and hide important information about

Within the American Dream and throughout the novel, there is the aura of selfishness and fakeness.
The time after the war was a time of opportunity to further oneself and forget others feelings in times
of sorrow. For example, not one person came to Gatsby s funeral: The minister glanced several times
at his watch, so I took him aside and asked him to wait for half an hour. But it wasn t any use. Nobody
came (170). Even though the masses always came to his parties, people valued themselves over others
who provided so much for them and they never cared for Gatsby. Lastly, when Nick meets Tom again,
he fully understands how the people in his life, although striving for happiness, could not care if others

The importance of copyright laws in the globalized and digital era cannot be gainsaid. The protection
given to any form of creation is critical in ensuring that it is not abused by third parties (Atkinson,

Brothers. In the event that Warner Brothers wants to release a new movie or produce a book on Harry
Porter, they use copies of images, animations and texts of Harry porter. In organizations, a number of
elements can attract copyright. In the case of Good Design Pty Ltd, three examples that attract
copyright include official company logo, design of promotional brands and accompanying music used
in the company advertisements.
The analysis of the case reveals that Good Design Pty Ltd faces a number of issues in the use,
management and protection of original works. The first issue is the use of images found on the web.
The company cannot modify images found on the web without the permission of original creators.
Second, the company cannot use an image or video found on the web even if it does not have the
copyright symbol. This is because it is not a must to register work for it to be protected by copyright
law. On protection, the company can publish its creations on the Tree of Life or have the word

The Health Of Health Care Insurance
The eating habits of people in the modern days have led to the increased health complications. Most
people are therefore turning to medical care through specialists such as nutritionists in order to learn
how to keep their bodies healthy. In addition due to the uncertainty of disease attack and its severity,
people have turned to health care insurance. Health care insurance is a medical plan that is aimed at
benefiting an insured person by covering the medical and surgical expenses (Enthoven, 2003).
The insured is the person who is covered by the policy and can be said to be the owner of the health
insurance policy. The provider on the other hand is the specific insurance service provider and can fall
in various categories such as: doctor, clinic, laboratory or pharmacy. Therefore, health insurance
policy in this modern days translates to any payment plans that is meant to cover emergency
procedures and which are mostly of a high cost. Health care insurance in some countries is included in
the employment benefit package as an employment incentive. This is mostly the case in countries
without universal healthcare covers, an example of such is the USA.
Consumers in a way deceive themselves by believing that this medical covers protect their own health
(Enthoven, 2003). The payment plan develops a mindset of total reliance on the medical industry and
medical services instead of focusing on their quality of life. In this view, a need arises to change the
existing philosophies

Discontentment In The Sun Also Rises
While Faulkner writes with complex, disorganized sentences, and Hemingway writes more simply,
both unique author s distinctive styles capture the feeling of discontentment in their fictional
characters, such as Jake, in The Sun Also Rises, and Darl in, As I Lay Dying, by supplying insight on
their daily life and the environment surrounding them. While Jake s discontentment is caused by a war
wound, and Darl s sadness is created by his mother s death, Jake tries to conceal his emotions while
Darl chooses to confront his issues directly. In, The Sun Also Rises, Jake Barnes is described as being
physically damaged because of a war wound that impaired him during WWI. This is the cause for Jake
s discontentment. After his injury, a colonel mentions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Darl addresses Dewey Dell about her mission to go to Jefferson, he says, You want her to die so
you can get to town: is that it? She wouldn t say what we both knew. The reason you will not say it is,
when you say it, even to yourself, you will know it is true: is that it? But you know it is true now. I can
almost tell you the day when you knew it is true. Why wont you say it, even to yourself? (25).
Faulkner applies many intricate sentences when showing Darl s feeling of discontentment. He uses
long, complicated statements to portray the complexity of Darl s thoughts, and to show exactly how
Darl is confronting his issues instead of simply concealing them. Later in the novel Darl burns down a
barn that his mother s coffin was lying in because he wanted to end the stressful torment that he had
endured on the long trip to Jefferson. He wanted Addie to finally rest in peace and he was also tired of
traveling with his selfish family members, like the father, Anse, whose main reason for the trip was
just to get new teeth. Although he tried his best to end his internal, emotional suffering by burning
down the barn, he failed because Jewel saved the coffin from the flames. After being arrested for the
act, he says, Darl has gone to Jackson. They put him on the train, laughing, down the long car

School uniform persuasive essay
School Uniforms: Agree or not?
Uniforms are globally used at schools around the world, especially schools in Asia. In Asia, the policy
of wearing uniform enforces strongly during school hours and whenever at schools. The policy is
enforced because schools want to teach discipline to their students and prevent unanticipated troubles
at school. The policy of school uniforms is not completely implemented in the United States,
especially public schools. According to the US Department of Education, only about 23 percent
private and public schools in the United States have a uniform policy (School Uniform Statistics 1). In

Enforcing the policy of school uniforms is a controversial debate between people. Some parents
disagree because school uniforms are costly for some people. They think that they have to buy two
types of outfits, school uniforms and daily outfits. One parent Josias Jere said uniforms were too
expensive for an average parent who had many children to look after and send to school (Sikapizye 1).
The United States is a country that honors the freedom of speech. Some parents think that their
children s freedom of speech will be constrained by the policy of wearing school uniforms. Many
students who are against school uniforms argue that they lose their self identity when they lose their
right to express themselves through fashion (Kouzmie 1). Students also think that school uniforms will
limit their expression and creativity.
Wearing school uniforms to school is more economical than you have to buy outfits to school. In a
week, students need 5 different outfits to go to school because they usually do not want to use same
outfits in a week. If students use school uniforms, they will only need 2 or 3 uniforms a week because
they do not have to use

Analysis Of Vasquez s Theories And Factors Influencing...
Vasquez employs a gear analogy to express the interconnected nature of each of the four STEM
capabilities. Like the meshing of teeth on a system of gears, the four STEM fields are best taught,
learned and assessed together (Vasquez, Sneider, Comer, 2013, p. 12). Furthermore, Vasquez (2013)
recommends the following five guiding principles to guide the gear mesh alignment of the STEM
fields: focus on integration, establish relevance, emphasize 21st Century skills, challenge your
students, and mix it up (p. 18 19). However, Vasquez (2013) remains cognizant of the challenging
nature of implementing all five principles and urges educators to remember you don t have to do it all
(p.21). The subsequent paragraphs are an introspection regarding the degree of implementation and
the factors influencing the execution of the aforementioned principles in my current setting. The
primary principle expressed by Vasquez is the focus on integration. Vasquez(2013) states, that
combining two or more of the disciplines helps students see the relatedness of the concepts tying
together seemingly disjointed blocks of information (p.22). The yearly pacing of science instruction
shapes integration of the four disciplines. Science instruction occurs primarily during the third and
fourth quarter. A brief unit on magnetism takes place at the beginning of the second quarter.
Additionally, the emphasis on number sense and computation during this period is less conducive to
integration than the

Compare And Contrast Hamilton Vs Thomas Jefferson
Alexander Hamilton vs Thomas Jefferson Did Alexander Hamilton or Thomas Jefferson have a better
plan for America? Both men had different viewpoints concerning the future of the new nation. While
Alexander Hamilton wanted to increase the central government s power, Thomas Jefferson wanted to
decrease the central government s power. These important Founding Fathers of American history
created the first two political parties, the Federalists and Democratic Republicans respectively. A
political party is a group of people with the same ideology about how the government should be run.
Evidently, Thomas Jefferson had the best ideas for America because he believed that the power of any
government should ultimately rest with the people. Jefferson was brought up by a wealthy family, and

Even though a novel may have been written years ago, it could still be considered relevant to present

way it portrayed the love, respect, and courage. He also believed it encouraged students to engage

John Foley, an English teacher in Washington, challenged the use of The Adventures of Huckleberry
Finn, Of Mice and Men, and To Kill a Mockingbird in high school English classes due to the racial

still fit the curriculum that were considered to be less controversial. He believed his students, who

slurs used were directly aimed at the race they identified with. He stated the his past students would

The Effect Of Divorce On Children
The occurrence on divorce in our society today has left children emotionally and mentally hurt by this.
More and more studies have been done on to see if divorce has an effect on children. I personally have
had no effect of divorce, but I have had several friends who have been affected. I had little knowledge
about how impactful divorce can have an affect on someone until I started doing research on this
topic. Divorce is very hard on people who have to deal with this. The articles I have found to do
research on all have something new and exciting to bring to the table. Of the ones I have found, I
believe they will help me to understand more of the struggles young children have to cope with during
such a difficult time. I also found an interesting article about the fathers perspectives on divorce. It
talked about how they still want to be apart of their children s lives and how hard it is to keep a strong
relationship with their children. I felt like it would be good to include this article into my paper
because it will help me to learn from the fathers side how they handle the situation. Throughout this
paper, I disused the different effects divorce has on children, the various programs and coping
strategies for the children, and fathers perspectives and mother child relationships. All of these topics
are very important to divorce and the articles from the researchers did a great job of talking about
these topics.

Tony Stark s Ethical Decisions In The Film Ironman
Film Analysis Tony Stark makes many ethical decisions in the film Ironman. One of the first
important decisions Stark makes in the movie is choosing to miss his own award ceremony and
instead go to a casino and gamble. His decision not to attend and not to inform anyone that he was not
going to attend is significant because it demonstrates Stark s self centered mindset and that he places
little importance on the impact his decisions have on others. Later, when Stark has been captured by
terrorists who demand that he build a missile for them Stark s immediate response is to refuse, even
though they may kill him for refusing. This is important because it shows that despite Stark s constant
disrespectful behavior towards others he does believe that the lives of innocent people are inherently
of value. Stark s decision to fight his way out of the terrorist camp is another significant decision Stark
makes. It shows that he is willing to kill people when it is not the only way to preserve his own life.
Once he gets out of the cave he could have used the suit s rockets to fly away, but he instead smashes
his way through the entire terrorist camp. When Stark returns to the United States he immediately
holds a press conference and announces that, because he learned that terrorists were using his weapons
against US troops his company will no longer be making weapons. The moral implications of this
decision are huge. His reason is to prevent terrorists from killing people, but his

Detroit Pros And Cons
Expanding on Detroit History Through Research While picking a college to attend, Wayne State
University came to mind. Similarly, to how all things are, Wayne State had its pros and cons. One of
the pros that stuck out was its location. Wayne State University is situated in the middle of a major
city known as Detroit.
Detroit is a city on the rise. It has a reputation as being a dangerous and unpleasant city. Some people
even say, why would you ever want to live in Detroit. The city of Detroit may have been in bad shape
in the past, but with new businesses popping up and a new sports arena opening, Detroit is far from a
dead city. This got me thinking about the history of Detroit, and as a result, I developed a research
question that asks ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I created an advanced search that searched for Detroit and decline as keywords. The article, Detroit,
Michigan, caught my eye. This article discussed the early history of Detroit while also covering the
population decline. For instance, the Michael O. Smith states, With the advent of expressways and an
ongoing replacement of aging Detroit assembly plants with new factories in the suburbs, jobs and
people began to leave the city. Most of these migrants were white; thus, the reason for the term white
flight (Smith). This helps to confirm the white flight theory about the population decline and how it
led to urban decay. However, the article also refers to the decline of the automobile industry due to
foreign exports and increased competition. The decline of the auto industry and population decline in
Detroit could be connected. This article raises another question that relates to how the auto industry
impacted the rise and fall of Detroit. This is another sub question that can be researched in hopes of
solving our main research question. As a result, I went back and researched more specific aspects of
the decline of

Chicken Soup Rough Draft
Chicken Soup Rough Draft
Kids on my block always loved to play outside. Growing up we always knew each other. We
cherished the times we would spend with each other. Whether it being on the Scorching hot days of
Summer, the chilly days of Fall, Or the rainy days of Spring. We would be on that street hanging out
and spend time with each other.
Spending so much time with each we had also noticed growing up that one of our friends has old stuff.
We noticed that every now and then when any of us would receive something new from our parents,
we would of course show it off to one another. Also remembering that our friend never really had
anything to show off to us. I could understand the situation, with the family being poverty stricken.

What Learning Has Occurred And How This Will Influence...
Chapter 6 Overview The final section of this dissertation will focus on reflecting upon the experience
of undertaking a dissertation, what learning has occurred and how this will influence future practice as
a staff nurse working in the NHS. The author will utilise Rolfe, Freshwater and Jasper s (2001) model.
The author chose this model as it is a simpler model than Gibbs (1998) model, Rolfe et al (2001)
poses the questions What? So what? And Now what? The author felt due to its simplicity that this
model was more suited to this reflection. What? The author undertook a twelve thousand word

So what? From completing this dissertation the author has learnt just how important research is and
how essential it is for nurses to have an in depth understanding of the care they are giving to their
patients. This dissertation has helped the author have a great knowledge on CBT and just how
effective and valuable it is in treating people who have sexually offended. Undertaking a patchwork
assessment made the author reflect upon patient care and although we may consider an individual s
care needs individually, holistic care is the ultimate aim in delivering high quality patient care.
Holistic care is seeing the patient as a physical, spiritual and psychological whole and not just
focusing on one particular area (NursingTimes.Net 2009). A patchwork text is a type of assessment
which consists of smaller sections that once put together becomes a comprehensible and combined
piece of work (Scoggins and Winter 1999). Research is essential in all areas of nursing as nurses have
a duty to ensure they are up to date with all relevant developments in nursing and should be able to
give rationale for all care they give. Nursing research expands the evidence base and improves clinical
practice (NursingTimes.Net 2014). Nurses need to have the ability to research a subject in order to
keep up to date with the ever changing nursing practice and ultimately improve the delivery of care to

Should Textbooks Be Taught In Schools Research Paper
Technology constantly evolves, adding new features, applications, and creative opportunities for
advancements. However, some critics consider education as archaic and unimaginative, for it
preserves the practices of pencil and paper, textbooks and notes.
In the past decade, technology advanced faster than previously before, forcing the question whether
schools and communities should integrate technology with education. In addition, boards consider
how much is appropriate to include in the educational standards while maintaining a balance with
traditional methods.
Schools argue that these tablets or other technological devices are a cost burden on the school district
since they have to pay and maintain a higher bandwidth cost, in addition to the initial cost of
purchasing the tablets. Implementation costs for e textbooks on iPad tablets are 552% higher than new
print textbooks in an average high school, and the annual cost per student per class with tablets is
$71.55 vs. $14.26 for print textbooks ( Should Tablets Replace Textbooks in K 12 Schools? 3). This
comparison demonstrates that schools are paying more per student out of the tax based budget. For
schools with weak support from the government or community, it becomes challenging for them to
maintain a balanced budget. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

2016 17
INTRODUCTION:
John Rawls developed a conception of justice as fairness in his classic work A Theory of Justice.
Using elements of both Kantian and utilitarian philosophy, he has described a method for the moral
evaluation of social and political institutions.
He proposes to revise few concepts of social contract developed by writers like John Locke, Jean
Jacques Rousseau and Immanuel Kant and thus developing theory of justice. John Locke believes free
consent of those being governed and the contract between governor and them to be the source of
political authority. He wants to take this concept to higher level ... Show more content on

It is designed to be a fair and impartial position where fundamental principles of justice are decided in
unbiased manner. In taking up this point of view, we have to imagine ourselves as free and equal
people who committed themselves to the principles of social justice. The main distinguishing feature
of the original position is the veil of ignorance. In order to obtain an unbiased judgment, the parties
are deprived of all knowledge of their personal characteristics and social and historical circumstances.
They are unaware of their personal interests and inclinations, along with general facts about
psychology, economics, biology, and of various social sciences. The parties in the original position are
presented with a list of the main conceptions of justice influenced by the tradition of social and
political philosophy, and are asked to choose the best alternative among those interests in establishing
conditions that facilitate them to effectively pursue their final ends and fundamental

Shawn Love Mrs. Echols ERWC, Period 2 12 February 2017 The Advancements in Architecture The
good building is not one that hurts the landscape, but one which makes the landscape more beautiful
than it was before the building was built (Frank Lloyd Wright). Throughout the centuries, architecture
has fascinated everyone. History is inscribed in buildings and they can express the political and
economic power of a nation. Although time has gone by, buildings have not. You can still idolize
ancient Egyptian and Greek architecture and see how the events that occurred at that time influenced
them. Although buildings from as far as the ancient times are still standing strong today, they had few

Previously, metals weren t in sufficient quantities and in consistent enough quality. This meant that
buildings were limited to materials found in nature, such as stone, clay, timber, limestone, and
concrete. However, not only did the Industrial Revolution change the world, but it also changed
architecture. During this century, the worldwide production of iron was 825,000 tons, and by 1900, it
rose up to nearly 50 times more. The most commonly used form of iron was steel, which was not only
stronger and versatile, but was also tensile and had compressive strength greater than any other
material previously used before. Although steel allowed architects to design much taller buildings with
a lot more interior space, there was one major flaw that prevented architects from doing so. To cement
a new friendship, especially between foreigners or persons of a different social world, a spark with
which both were secretly charged must fly from person to person, and cut across the accidents of place
and time (Elisha Graves Otis). Elevators have been known to exist since the Roman era. They were
created with a basic pulley system that were operated by either humans, animals, or water power. For
example, Rome s Coliseum had 12 elevators that hoisted up the gladiators and wild animals from one
stage floor to the next. In England, elevators were powered by a steam machine or a hydraulic pump
and were used to bring up the monarch s food more

History of Health Insurance Essay
Healthcare didn t always exist in the United States. Before the 1920 s, most people didn t have health
coverage. Most people were treated at home and hardly anyone, except a few large employers offered
healthcare. Everyone else paid out of pocket. As the population shifted from rural areas to urban
centers, families lived in smaller homes with less room to care for sick family members (Faulkner
1960, p. 509). Increasing requirements for licensing and accreditation, in addition to a rising demand
for medical care, eventually led to rising costs. By the end of 1920s, there was an increased demand
for medical care and the costs of medical care increased.

Also, a lack of insurance is a huge financial burden for individuals and their families. Lack of health
insurance has social consequences, as well. Some diseases are highly contagious and can be spread
easily to family members, friends, colleagues, co workers and others, one may come in contact with.
With health insurance, these contagious diseases can be contained and cured or treated more quickly
and cost effectively. People without health insurance have limited, reduced access to services of
preventive care, like cancer screening.
Moreover, the benefits of expanding coverage outweigh the costs for added services. [4] Safety net
care from hospitals and clinics improves access to care but does not fully substitute for health
insurance. These findings are supported by much research, although some cautions are appropriate in
using these results. People with health insurance are protected against uncertain and high medical
expenses and are more likely to receive needed and appropriate health care. In addition, having health
insurance is associated with improved health outcomes and lower mortality, so employees with health
insurance are more likely to be productive workers. You do not pay income tax on health insurance
benefits so it is more valuable per dollar than the same amount in taxable pay. [5]

Use Of Measure Disability And Level Of An Individual s Health
Currently, two other instruments are utilized to measure disability and level of functioning. The two
instruments are: 1.) The RAND 36 Item Short Form Survey (SF 36) and
2.) the Functional Independence Measure (FIM) (Üstün et al., 2010b). Both of these measures are
often compared to the WHODAS 2.0. However, they both vary slightly from the WHODAS
2.0. The SF 36 is a generic quality of life measurement that assesses an individual s health status
(Ware, 2000). This measureme relies specifically on an individual s self reported perceptions related to
the following eight domains: physical functioning, bodily pain, role limitations due to physical health
problems, role limitations due to personal or emotional problems, emotional well being, social
functioning, energy/fatigue, and general health (Ware,
2000). The SF 36 is heavily utilized by managed care organizations and Medicare when monitoring
and assessing progress in adult individuals (Ware, 2000). In regards to scoring the
SF 36, this is a two step process in which scores have to be recoded and then averaged together to
create scale scores for each domain (Ware, 2000). Research on the SF 36 has concluded that it is
relatively easy to score, as long as clinicians follow the two step scoring process (Ware,
2000). It is also important to note that the SF 36 is in the public domain, available in multiple
languages, and has good reliability and validity (Ware, 2000). However, one of the major

Banquo s Influence On Macbeth
Sometimes a thunder god can help out a mischief god. Often times throughout history and ancient
mythology, a person viewed as evil has a counter part that is viewed as good. For example, Thor, the
Norse god of weather/thunder was considered to be a good guy. However, his brother Loki, the Norse
god of mischief, was considered to be a bad guy. Thor had to help keep his brother in line throughout
their childhood because if he did not, Loki would get in trouble. Loki would go around playing tricks
on the other gods and their children. He loved making himself laugh as well as making others laugh.
However, sometimes he pushed things too far. In Shakespeare s The Tragedy of Macbeth, Banquo and
Macbeth share some qualities with Thor and Loki. Thor tried to help Loki just like Banquo tries to
help Macbeth. Banquo is a person that is seen as a leader because of his level headedness, just like
Thor was a leader among the Norse gods. Like Loki, Macbeth pushes things too far. He commits
multiple murders and lies through his teeth countless times. He even has his friend Banquo killed.

his friend murdered. He even sees Banquo s ghost and has a little fit in front of a lot of people. Seeing

he used to be. It is obvious that Banquo still has an impact on Macbeth even after he has died because

Determine Your Audience
How to Determine Your Audience
Knowing your audience is a topic that we need to understand more about because by understanding an
audience the message will be better understood.
From the standpoint of the audience, having a messenger deliver a message without any reference
points makes the interpretation more difficult than it needs to be. There needs to be a frame of
reference in communication to be successful, and this example should explain a bit more about
knowing your audience. Many people develop hearing loss, or strained vision as they age, and
communicating with people with decreased senses is different than that of a person or group with
better senses of perception. Understand your audience to better communicate with them.
Audiences won t be able to understand the communication for many reasons, including language

common sense means many things, some examples would be using professional wording and proper

Investigating Correlation Between Angles Of Incidence And...
Introduction
In the first part of this experiment we used a flat, concave, and convex mirror to determine the
relationship between the angle of incidence and the angle of reflection for a light rays reflection on
these mirrors, seen in Procedure A. In the second part of this experiment we used a light source, a
three way mirror, a rhombus prism, and a protractor to measure angles of a light ray. All of these
instruments and devices were used to examine the relationship of the angle of incidence and the angle
of refraction for a light ray passing through a rhombus prism, seen in Procedure B. Lastly, in the third
part of this experiment we used an acrylic rhomboid to observe the dispersion through the lens, seen in
Procedure C and then proceed with calculating the different indices or refraction for different colors of
light, seen in Procedure D.
Theory
Part A: Reflection
We observe the Law of Reflection, which states that the angle of incidence will equal the angle of
reflection coming from a beam of light. As Procedure A will show, when a beam of light is directed on
a mirror being either flat, concave, or convex the beam of light will change directions according to the
mirrors. The angle between the normal line and the first beam is known as the angle of incidence,
(ϴi). The angle between the normal and reflected beam is known as the angle of the reflection, (ϴr).
With these symbols we obtain the equation: ϴi= ϴr
Part B: Refraction

Persuasive Essay On Food Safety
Food safety regulations worldwide don t align perfectly from one country to another, and there are
food safety related issues that arise as a result. Governments don t all legislate it the same way because
scientific evidence for the validity of specific policies isn t all there is to consider culture, history and
politics included. These same things in tandem with pervasive fear and protectionism factor into how
regulations solve certain problems.
Risk analysis outcomes, according to a case study on food legal diversity across the cultural divides of
different countries worldwide, are in no way in sync. Different countries set their own so called
Adequate Level of Protection (ALOP) despite broad consensus on methodology because methodology
is insufficient to determine what level of risk is universally acceptable. Some experts suggest, though,
that methodology should be determined for an all encompassing case study, possibly based on how
countries have mutually agreed on radioactive contamination limits for food safety already. That much
is already universal.
The International Commission on Radiology Protection (ICRP) was responsible for submitting the
scientific data, which allowed for studies to be conducted and then updated, detailing potential effects
on human health relative to radioactivity exposure via food consumption. Governments take the most
recent findings from this series of studies and their subsequent updates into account when establishing

24 Response Essay
There he was, sitting at a soulless lunch table, munching on his sandwich, wondering why he stuck out
as someone peculiar to others. Watching the other children laugh and share jokes his heart melted with
sorrow, but he held onto the tears that were ready to escape, like a river is ready to plunge down the
waterfall. Knowingly not wanting to bring in attention, even though he felt invisible. 62.5% of 8th
grade students at Cooper Middle school came clean, expressing their sorrow about struggling to find
friends at some point in their lifetime. There are bountiful reasons as of why and 62.5% out of 24
responses made by the 8th grade students say that it usually happens because of the different
backgrounds. Back in the year of 2012 2013, a student of Robert Frost Elementary School attested the
minute she tiptoed into the new school, kids would start playing and toying with her simply because
she came from a different country. She couldn t find any friends because everyone always found a way
to judge her even though she did nothing wrong. The 4th grader later changed herself and did
whatever silly and senseless ideas these children did just to fit ... Show more content on

It goes many ways and a big way is the skin tone, and it goes both ways between the darker and the
lighter. A 13 year young boy was strolling the streets of a neighborhood when a man of the opposite
race shooed him off complaining that ¨If I was in your neighborhood I would be jumped.¨ So why is it
that there is such material as ¨your¨ neighborhood and ¨my¨ neighborhood, but not ¨this/our¨
neighborhood? ¨It is hard to make new friends when you are different races. Standards and
Stereotypes are put in place at schools and our society,¨ A point made clear as crystal. Don t be that

David Herbert Lawrence s Moral And Mental Issues
David Herbert Lawrence was born on 11 September 1885 in Eastwood, Nottinghamshire(Becket 6).
He lived in a poor family. His literary books generated mass contradictions and some of his books
were banned because of offensive content. He was affected by the old traditions of the 19th century
and the new ideals of the early 20th century. (Christinat iii). Lawrentian novels were full of poor
dissenters and used these kinds of people for taking ideas for his writings. Also, some critics assert
that there is no contact between his autobiography and writings. His themes are about the power of
immoral energy, political philosophy, romantic nature, spheres of desire and language, sexuality,
human existence, self growth, solution of conflict, selfhood, otherness, and blood consciousness. He is
a kind of writer who opens the various doors to critical viewpoints.Worthern stated that Lawrence had
ethical education in a big assembly of Eastwood and trained himself both in moral and mental issues
(1991a: 64 8). He got help from various sermons and temperance systems to improve his morality.
Ethics and language both helped him to make his personality very well.He uses in his works the sense
of togetherness, Englishness, renewing morality and religious faith. As it was mentioned by Fiona
Beckett that such poets as Mallarme who had a big effect in French Symbolism impressed Lawrence
very much. Wilhelm Worringer s Abstraction and Empathy (1908) attracted Lawrence for abstraction

Female Body Stereotypes
Do you want a thigh gap? Some girls do because one word about how a girl looks will mess with their
heads, girls always check to see if they have a curvy body and will try to act like they have a great
body and try to achieve this goal. Girls nowadays only care about how they look and it s not healthy,
they just don t want to get made fun of because of their bodies. Girls always feel like they need to
have perfect bodies because of all the pressure being put on them and/or being bullied into it or peer
pressured into it. The reason girls feel pressure on themselves is because everyone judges you on your
body. Guys will only like you for your looks and not anything else like personality, interests, how nice
you are. Everybody judges to soon about really nice people because they can t see past their looks.
Girls always judge other people like not so popular girls or people that are weird, not so social,
socially akward, or people that don t really fit in that much. Even guys get judged by girls because of
looks, there s too much pressure on girl s to have perfect bodies because people expect you to be
perfect, girls want to live up to those expectations, and that pressure is put on you. ... Show more

Perhaps the key is to stop recommending body stereotypes altogether. Basically saying that if people
try too look good maybe they will be judged less. Then people wouldn t have to try so hard, but
everybody could just stop judging altogether. If everyone stop judging, it would stop eating disorders,
being unhealthy, and bullying. Your body is going to be disturbingly thin and you will get called
anorexic, too skinny, and other names you don t want to be called. If you want all these problems, then
go ahead and try the thigh gap look but, it s not going to be a good decision just know that you ve
been warned of what could happen, it is your choice after

Some scholars confirm that AAVE developed out a connection between speakers of West African languages and speakers of vernacular English varieties. According to such an opinion, West Africans learnt English on plantations in the southern Coastal States from very few native speakers. This is important because it shows that despite Stark s constant disrespectful behavior towards others he does believe that the lives of innocent people are inherently of value. Stark s decision to fight his way out of the terrorist camp is another significant decision Stark makes. It shows that he is willing to kill people when it is not the only way to preserve his own life. Once he gets out of the cave he could have used the suit s rockets to fly away, but he instead smashes his way through the entire terrorist camp. When Stark returns to the United States he immediately holds a press conference and announces that, because he learned that terrorists were using his weapons against US troops his company will no longer be making weapons. Similarly, to how all things are, Wayne State had its pros and cons. One of the pros that stuck out was its location. Wayne State University is situated in the middle of a major city known as Detroit. Detroit is a city on the rise. It has a reputation as being a dangerous and unpleasant city. Some people even say, why would you ever want to live in Detroit. I created an advanced search that searched for Detroit and decline as keywords. The article, Detroit, Michigan, caught my eye. This article discussed the early history of Detroit while also covering the population decline. For instance, the Michael O. Most of these migrants were white; thus, the reason for the term white flight (Smith). This helps to confirm the white flight theory about the population decline and how it led to urban decay. However, the article also refers to the decline of the automobile industry due to foreign exports and increased competition. The decline of the auto industry and population decline in Detroit could be connected. This article raises another question that relates to how the auto industry impacted the rise and fall of Detroit. This is another sub question that can be researched in hopes of solving our main research question. As a result, I went back and researched more specific aspects of the decline of ... From completing this dissertation the author has learnt just how important research is and how essential it is for nurses to have an in depth understanding of the care they are giving to their patients. This dissertation has helped the author have a great knowledge on CBT and just how effective and valuable it is in treating people who have sexually offended. Undertaking a patchwork assessment made the author reflect upon patient care and although we may consider an individual s care needs individually, holistic care is the ultimate aim in delivering high quality patient care. Holistic care is seeing the patient as a physical, spiritual and psychological whole and not just focusing on one particular area (NursingTimes.Net 2009). A patchwork text is a type of assessment which consists of smaller sections that once put together becomes a comprehensible and combined piece of work (Scoggins and Winter 1999). Research is essential in all areas of nursing as nurses have a duty to ensure they are up to date with all relevant developments in nursing and should be able to give rationale for all care they give. Nursing research expands the evidence base and improves clinical practice (NursingTimes.Net 2014). Nurses need to have the ability to research a subject in order to keep up to date with the ever changing nursing practice and ultimately improve the delivery of care to our ... • 27. Should Textbooks Be Taught In Schools Research Paper Technology constantly evolves, adding new features, applications, and creative opportunities for advancements. However, some critics consider education as archaic and unimaginative, for it preserves the practices of pencil and paper, textbooks and notes. In the past decade, technology advanced faster than previously before, forcing the question whether schools and communities should integrate technology with education. In addition, boards consider how much is appropriate to include in the educational standards while maintaining a balance with traditional methods. Schools argue that these tablets or other technological devices are a cost burden on the school district since they have to pay and maintain a higher bandwidth cost, in addition to the initial cost of purchasing the tablets. Implementation costs for e textbooks on iPad tablets are 552% higher than new print textbooks in an average high school, and the annual cost per student per class with tablets is $71.55 vs. $14.26 for print textbooks ( Should Tablets Replace Textbooks in K 12 Schools? 3). During this century, the worldwide production of iron was 825,000 tons, and by 1900, it rose up to nearly 50 times more. The most commonly used form of iron was steel, which was not only stronger and versatile, but was also tensile and had compressive strength greater than any other material previously used before. Although steel allowed architects to design much taller buildings with a lot more interior space, there was one major flaw that prevented architects from doing so. The RAND 36 Item Short Form Survey (SF 36) and 2.) the Functional Independence Measure (FIM) (Üstün et al., 2010b). Both of these measures are often compared to the WHODAS 2.0. However, they both vary slightly from the WHODAS 2.0. The SF 36 is a generic quality of life measurement that assesses an individual s health status (Ware, 2000). This measureme relies specifically on an individual s self reported perceptions related to the following eight domains: physical functioning, bodily pain, role limitations due to physical health problems, role limitations due to personal or emotional problems, emotional well being, social functioning, energy/fatigue, and general health (Ware, 2000). The SF 36 is heavily utilized by managed care organizations and Medicare when monitoring and assessing progress in adult individuals (Ware, 2000). In regards to scoring the SF 36, this is a two step process in which scores have to be recoded and then averaged together to create scale scores for each domain (Ware, 2000). Research on the SF 36 has concluded that it is relatively easy to score, as long as clinicians follow the two step scoring process (Ware, 2000). It is also important to note that the SF 36 is in the public domain, available in multiple languages, and has good reliability and validity (Ware, 2000). However, one of the major limitations ... Introduction In the first part of this experiment we used a flat, concave, and convex mirror to determine the relationship between the angle of incidence and the angle of reflection for a light rays reflection on these mirrors, seen in Procedure A. In the second part of this experiment we used a light source, a three way mirror, a rhombus prism, and a protractor to measure angles of a light ray. All of these instruments and devices were used to examine the relationship of the angle of incidence and the angle of refraction for a light ray passing through a rhombus prism, seen in Procedure B. Lastly, in the third part of this experiment we used an acrylic rhomboid to observe the dispersion through the lens, seen in Procedure C and then proceed with calculating the different indices or refraction for different colors of light, seen in Procedure D. Theory Part A: Reflection We observe the Law of Reflection, which states that the angle of incidence will equal the angle of reflection coming from a beam of light. As Procedure A will show, when a beam of light is directed on a mirror being either flat, concave, or convex the beam of light will change directions according to the mirrors. The angle between the normal line and the first beam is known as the angle of incidence, (ϴi). The angle between the normal and reflected beam is known as the angle of the reflection, (ϴr).
