Deer Or Elk Carcass
In Nevada, a deer or elk carcass are disposed of in one of two ways: the head and spinal cord can be
buried, or disposed of at an approved landfill. There are no captive cervids in Nevada. Legislation
passed in 2005 does not allow captive cervid ranches in the state of Nevada. This also means that no
captive elk, white tailed deer, or mule deer ranches exist in the state (MI Department of Natural
Resources 2014).
Oregon
Although CWD has not been detected in Oregon, wildlife managers in the state are still actively
testing for this prion disease (Oregon Fish Wildlife website). Since 2002 2003, a total of 17,009 hunter
harvested and targeted surveillance deer and elk have been tested statewide. As of October 2014,

Hunters that do not abide by these regulations can be cited with a misdemeanor (Hamway 2017).
As of November of 2002, the Oregon Fish Wildlife Commission issued a regulation imposing a
permanent ban on the importation of live cervids (except fallow deer or reindeer originating from
Oregon and used for educational or display purposes). This regulation was adopted as a risk reduction
measure involving the potential import of CWD and transmission of the disease to the state s cervid
populations (wild and farmed) (MI Department of Natural Resources 2014).
Since June 2009, captive cervid producers have been given the option to enroll in a Voluntary CWD
Monitored Herd program via an application to the Wildlife Division Administrator. As a condition for
monitored herd status, all captive North American deer and elk (6 months of age or older) dying of
any cause, must be sampled for CWD by a federally accredited veterinarian, or an Oregon Department
of Fish and Wildlife veterinarian or at a veterinary diagnostic laboratory by a veterinary pathologist.
Submissions [are] sent to National Veterinary Service Laboratories (NVSL) by the accredited

Comparing Ancient Greek and Ancient Roman Architecture Essay
The two ancient civilizations of ancient Greece and Rome were the best of the best during their time
periods. Ancient Greece began around 2000 B.C. by the inhabitants known as the Mycenaean s,
followed by the Minoans. The Minoans built the foundation of Greece. The Roman Empire was
founded around 753 B.C. by the two twins, Romulus and Remus. Romulus ended up killing Remus
and built the city of Rome on one of seven rolling hills. Architecture was very important to both
civilizations and they were always trying to out due the other. The architectural style of the Ancient
Greeks and Romans was overall constructed and used differently. The ancient Greeks developed a
system of orders which were known as columns. There were three different ... Show more content on

The top if the column has a scroll like design. The Ionic order is mostly found in the eastern part of
Greece and some of its islands along the coast ( Ancient Greece 2). The base supports the columns.
The capitol of the column has two volutes and they rest atop a band of palm leaf ornaments (
Architecture in Ancient Greece 1). The most important feature of the Ionic order is the frieze (
Architecture in Ancient Greece 1). The area in ancient Greece where the Ionic order was most
prevalent was around Greeks in Asia Minor and the Greek islands. A monument that includes the Ionic
order columns is the temple of Athena Nike. The Corinthian order columns are the most extravagant
type of column. It was the last column to be developed by the ancient Greeks. The Greeks did not
really use this type of column to its full potential, but the ancient Romans did ( Ancient Greece 3).
Some examples of monuments or building that used the Corinthian order consisted of the temple of
Zeus at Athens. It was probably the most notable of the Corinthian temples ( Ancient Greece 3). The
ancient Greek Acropolis was dedicated to the Goddesses Athena. Acropolis in Greek means The
Sacred Rock, The high city ( Ancient Greece 3). The Acropolis is known world wide. There are many

Inner-City Community Analysis
The Baltimore city community, where I serve, is predominantly a residential neighborhood in
Baltimore, MD. Over the course of the last few years, Baltimore has earned the title of having one of
the highest homicide rates in the nation. Despite the vortex of crime and violence, there are many
contributing factors that continue to feed the murder epidemic. These factors include drugs,
educational limitations, sustainable employment, increase gap affiliation and environmental inequities.
The is the constant reality of many inner city residents who have been cast away and left out. The have
been considered as worthless and beyond help, often labeled as troublemakers, thugs and those people
. We see the increase in crime and violence in these inner city communities and automatically jump to
places of judgement and condemnation, yet we never take the time to evaluate the contributing factors
to why they do what they do: lack of education, generational strongholds, cultural cycles, poverty, lack
of health care and so much more. Many of them feel like they are in a fight for survival where it is kill
or be killed, in a place where power and authority is connected to fear and violence. Even these
individuals need the love, mercy and compassion as God has commanded. The only way to bring

Chromatography Of Food Dyes Lab Report
Chromatography of Food Dye Chem 180 DL3 Abstract: The goal of this experiment was to use
different dyes to determine the Rf value. Chromatography is done to determine the presence of a
mixture in a substance. In this experiment different dyes were used such as McCormick food coloring,
M amp;M s, Kool Aid, and the dyes that came with the lab kit. Experiment and Observation: In this
experiment a 50mL beaker was filled with luke warm water and a pinch of salt water was dissolved in
it and set aside. A line was drawn with pencil 1 cm from the bottom of the paper and then the line was
separated with cross lines 1.5cm apart on two sheets of chromatography paper. The sections on the
first sheet of paper were labeled B1, B2, R3, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Once the cylinder was removed from the petri dish the top of each solvent line was marked with a
pencil and allowed to air dry for several minutes. All measurements were taken to the nearest
millimeter and then the Rf factor was determined for each using the equation Rf=dye distance/ solvent
distance. Chromatography of Food Dyes Color | Blue 1 | Blue 2 | Red 3 | Red 40 | Yellow 5 | Yellow 6 |

My Social Capital Activity
For my Social Capital activity, I chose to make a donation to the 2016 Christmas Fundraiser. I like to
give donations; especially during the holiday time because I was lucky enough to receive amazing
gifts and celebrate the holidays with my family every year, so I want to try to make that possible for
others who are not as fortunate to experience this too. It is also just as important to give as it is to
receive when it comes time for the holiday season because with all of the holiday shopping and chaos,
the giving back part is often forgotten. I decided to give donations because it is a quick way to make a
large impact on other people. I normally do not have a lot of free time, so for me, giving donations to

Meaningful And Ethical Assessment In Early Childhood
When referring to assessment in the early childhood arena, providing evidence of a child s learning is
vital. In order to provide this, an extensive range of methods are used to identify childrens abilities.
According to Puckett and Black (2008), assessment is embedded for a variety of purposes to
determine, develop and analyse student progress and to generate an informed view of the child s level
of understanding which meets mandated and accountability conditions. This assignment investigates
the significance of meaningful and ethical assessment, current theories and philosophies, key
principles and practices all within early childhood with focus around a kindergarten perspective. This

This principle supports continuity and a sense of collaboration between all stakeholders. The holistic
approach draws on my relevant understanding of the child s former experiences and builds on my
ability to engage and construct an effective teaching and learning cycle. An example of this was
evident on my field experience when I designed a literacy learning experience around persuasive texts.
Prior to this, I communicated, observed and documented the interests and understandings of the
children at that point in time, which allowed me to create experiences based on the child s preferred
method of learning. The lesson supported both practical and oral forms of learning. For further
development, in my upcoming field experience I aim to embody a holistic approach through the
teaching and assessing through the child s natural environment, utilizing a range of resources,
strategies and modes whereby no child is marginalized in their learning and

life. By expressing it emotional and creativity by capturing the things many people wouldn t think that

music s room the first thing that captures your eyes is all the red in the painting and the violins, harper
and the cymbal on the floor. When you look closer into the painting you can see crazy details. Like the
lions laying around in the music room and the candles in the pieced looks as if it s a person not really
a candle. The decoration on the chandelier looks like there is really gems hanging in the art. In the art
piece Getting Even its isn t as detailed but it makes you wonder how did Schenck catch this moment
on his camera. The painting its taking place in some field of flowers. It s late at night and it looks like
a man is about to kill another person but the other human being is just standing there. I guess the
person is getting even by homicide since that s the name of the painting. The painting doesn t really
focus on the people in it. It focusses more on the scenery because its more emphasized in the painting.
The people are more a shadow and in the background I would say. My favorite painting out of the five
would have to the be the Carousel Bartender you can see it in my expression. When I was looking at
the art this was the first painting that caught my attention. The lights caught my attention since its

Failure To Thrive Essay
Failure to thrive is commonly seen by primary care physicians. It is important for a quick diagnosis to
avoid malnutrition and developmental delays. Failure to thrive has been defined as failure of expected
growth, usually weight, and well being and it is usually in early childhood years (Deborah K. Steward,
2003). Does this definition make it a problem of growth alone, or something more? There are many
factors that play into Failure to Thrive such as genes, internal problems, infections, problems during
pregnancy and poverty. There isn t one single thing that causes it. One thing everyone must remember
is that a child with failure to thrive, is not sick , they re unable to get the required nutrients to avoid
being underweight or malnourished. When a child is malnourished and has symptoms of failure to
thrive, they should have some of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hospitalization may occur, but this is the most uncommon of treatments. Most children with failure to
thrive are treated outside of a hospital. It often helps if the parent eats with the child to model good
eating habits. It is important to keep a consistent routine, use the foods a child likes, keep snacks
scheduled and follow doctor s orders. The child is also usually placed on a high calorie diet. Children
diagnosed with failure to thrive will need 150% of their recommended calorie intake based on their
expected weight, not their current weight. A child s energy need is almost triple of what an adults is
(Krugman, 2003). A high calorie diet can become tricky for infants, but their formula is usually
concentrated or rice can be added to pureed foods. There are two common things with failure to thrive
that children need, a high calorie diet for catch up growth and a close follow up to make sure the diet
changes are working effectively. This is important to ensure that the child is regaining typical

The Success Of The Coca Cola Company
Dear Mr Kent,
I am writing to you to discuss the success of the Coca Cola Company thus far and to discuss
recommendations in which the company could use. These recommendation will help the company to
become more environmentally friendly, more of an ethical company and therefore to create a better
image for the company. I will be discussing recommendations in reference to the United Nations
Global Compact principles, specifically, principles one and eight:
1. Business should support and respect the protection of internationally proclaimed human rights;
8. Undertake initiatives to promote greater environmental responsibility (UNGC 2015).
I will be discussing potential improvements towards the company s human rights initiatives and their
environmental footprint. I will also be discussing the potential benefits and costs of these
implementations in reference to the company and its stakeholders.
Coca Cola Company: Human Rights
We can clearly understand that Coca Cola takes its human rights policies in a very serious manner. By
following the many principles from policies such as the United Nation Global Compact, Universal
Declaration of Human Rights and the International Labour Organisation s Declaration on
Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work (Coca Cola 2015), really expresses to the public and

The Effects Of The Balance Of Power
The Effects of the Balance of Power
Introduction
In the breadth of International Relations, political theorists have been seeking a solution to maintain
peace and stability among states. As conflict among states is imminent, it is impossible to fully
eliminate war and aggression. However, the scope of international relations is to create an effort to
minimize conflict by using communicative techniques and strategies. The best way to create
diplomatic resolutions is to understand the function of the actors and their roles. The balance of power
is a strategic concept that offers a feasible solution to bring about stability and harmony to conflicting
states.
The primary instrument that engages the prospect of war, peace, and the balance of power is the
amount of actors who possess power on the international stage. There are three main systems to
classify the allocation of power in the international community. The three systems include a unipolar,
bipolar, and multipolar world. Many realists theorists correlate multi polar systems as destructive and
problematic in causing wars. Meanwhile, it is widely agreed that bipolarity encourages stability and a
unipolar world is the most ideal in maintaining peace. The objective of this paper is to analyze these
three concepts of distribution of power and how it has affected the international stage after World War
II.
Conceptualization: Balance of Power
The balance of power theory is considered a rudimentary concept in the field of

How Education Is A Major Factor
The above graph shows the how education is a major factor in the variation of changes of the United
States during this time frame. For the birth year, it would be the birth year of the parents of the
students going to college. The percent is the percentage of students that completed college. As you can
easily tell that the elite class keeps rising, while the low class barely moves. The developed country of
the United States has increased the college costs for students in recent years. Higher costs only benefit
the wealthy and lower income students lose in this situation. Lower income households end up
borrowing too much. It doesn t affect the elite; in fact, they have the largest spike opposed to the other
classes. Although college completion rates have increased, the cost of borrowing has also increased
for lower class households. In a developing country, since there is more poverty and less parents that
went to college, it led to most adults not having any schooling.
During my research, I came to a realization that the United States is actually increasing slowly in
income inequality. I saw this in another factor: health. The U.S. has a universal health care system that
sometimes benefits people by providing little cost co pays. The length of life varies among the
individuals and it was found that additional income allows for better care of oneself. This says that
greater income inequality will produce greater inequality of life spans within countries. The life
expectancy

Washington s War Within A War Essay
Washington s war within a war
While it is true that wars are fought and won with weapons and selfless sacrifice, it is also true that
wars cannot be won on an empty stomach. Hunger can zap a solders moral, confidence, and he can
find himself lacking the energy to even aim his rifle. This is a real threat to any company, or to any
army. One might even say this could be a war within a war for the starving battalion that faced such
adversity. They would be faced with the loss of muscle tissue, the inability to fight, think, let alone to
defend a fort. Moral breaks down, some will desert, or commit mutiny as they lose faith in their
commanding officers. During war, food can be taken for granted, more faith is put on the weapon you
carry, the men you serve with. However, little thought is given to how truly important food and clean
water can be until you have none. When it is gone, it s all you can think of, thoughts drift to warm
meals, clean clothes, clear cool water. Then one s soul sinks into depression, the feeling of defeat, the
temptation to give up and surrender just for a taste of some food. This is just the war that General
George Washington and the continual army faced in the winter of 1777 1778 at Valley Forge.
General Washington was face with the loss of his Army, through extremely low moral brought on by
lack of food, and other necessary supplies. The reason for such a hardship during the war was a faulty
supply line. On the 23rd of December 1777, Washington wrote

Fundamental Analysis of Pharmaceutical Stocks
Fundamental Analysis
Fundamental analysis is a technique that attempts to determine a security s value by focusing on
underlying factors that affect a company s actual business and its future prospects. On a broader scope,
you can perform fundamental analysis on industries or the economy as a whole. The term simply
refers to the analysis of the economic well being of a financial entity as opposed to only its price
movements.
Fundamental analysis serves to answer questions, such as:

The Lighthouse After School Program
Introduction The nonprofit organization that I chose to conduct research on is called the Lighthouse.
The Lighthouse is an after school program for middle and high school students. I decided to research
this organization because I have had a few friends volunteer there and I have heard nothing but
positive comments about it. I really wanted find out more about the Lighthouse because from the little
that I already knew about it, I felt that it provided a safe harbor for our youth in Lincoln and I think
that type of organization is a great asset to the community. In this research paper, I will discuss the
history of Lighthouse, the mission and values of the organization, programs and enrichment that is
provided, projects that have been beneficial to the community, financials, and last but not least, I will

History The Lighthouse After School Program was created in the year 1990 by Peter and Maureen

Is the Octoroon a Typical Victorian Melodrama
Is The Octoroon a typical Victorian melodrama? The Oxford English Dictionary defines the genre of
melodrama as, a stage play, usually romantic and sensational in plot , this description certainly applies
to The Octoroon. It was an extremely popular form of stage drama and what I will discover is whether
its themes, content and structure are typical of the Victorian period melodrama. From the first time it
was presented at the start of the nineteenth century, melodrama attracted big audiences. It started out
very popular with the lower classes in society but as the century progressed melodrama became
appreciated by large sections of society(Leaver,444). It usually contained themes of love, murder and
honour. Audiences that went ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This ending shows me that boucicault altered his play to fit the British publics preconceptions of what
a melodrama should be, therefore making it into a standard melodrama for the time. The fact that the
plot in The Octoroon is based around the topic of slavery shows us that it is in someway different from
other melodrama s of the time. Slavery was a hot topic when the Octoroon was produced and some
argue that it is abolitionist in its tone. Victorian melodrama s while sensational, tended to be centered
around more common everyday settings and themes. Some argue that the play is abolitionist in its tone
but I disagree. Boucicault himself denied the piece was meant to be an anti slavery
statement(Degen,173). In a letter to The New York Herald in December 1859, Boucicault explains that
he is not taking sides, I have laid the scene in the South, and, as slavery is an essential element of
society there, insomuch I have been obliged to admit it into my scheme. . . .I believe the drama to be a
proper and very effective instrument in the discussion of all social matters. . . .It is by such means that
the drama can be elevated into the social importance it deserves to enjoy. Therefore I have involved in

Not too long ago, the United States witnessed the horror of seeing tens of thousands of
unaccompanied children from Honduras making one of the most dangerous journey to make it to the

Life Reflected In William Cullen Bryant s Poetry
William Cullen Bryant William Cullen Bryant was a man with many different abilities and he was
well rounded between political, religious, and writing matters. He had very strong opinions on matters
that greatly influenced the United States. William Cullen Bryant had many historical and political
contributions through his life as a writer and a free willed man.
William Cullen Bryant had a very successful early life. He was considered to be a puritan since a
young age. The religious training the young boy received at his hands left such a mark upon him that
Bryant the mature poet has sometimes been called a puritan (Unger 151). Bryant was pushed by his
father and his teachings to be a puritan and keep up puritan ways. Coming from Puritans, ... Show

These diverse issues included slavery, sectionalism, the national bank, currency stabilization, the
creation of Central Park, the need for prison reform, labor rights, copyright laws, and freedom of the

his opinion on all of his political related topics. Although he did not intend to be in politics, that was a
very strong area for him. Bryant joined the Democratic Party and made the Post an organ of free trade,
free speech, abolition, and workingmen s rights. He later was a founder of the Republican Party (
William Cullen Bryant 1). The topic of slavery was one of Bryant s biggest struggles. He had a very
strong opinion against slavery and was in some cases considered to be an abolitionist. Bryant devoted
his time to trying to stop the spread of slavery. Bryant s beliefs against slavery hurt the Evening Post
and was eventually hated in the south because of his edits against slavery. He put up the slogan above
the masthead of the editorials: Free Soil, Free Labor, Free Trade, and Free Speech, which was the

A Choppy Estuary And Pass Of Leny
The two pieces of artwork being compared in this paper are two different ships made via the use of
different mediums. These pieces, while similar in concept, are different in their executions. Through
these two pieces, people will see that the two different mediums can achieve similar lifelike results.
The first piece, A Choppy Estuary, created by Hulk Abraham, was created with the use of wet media,
this one being painted with oil paints. The picture consists of four ships, clouds, and some people on
nearby land. It uses various colors, with major focus on various reds and blues, to place emphasis on
the ship on the front right of the piece.
The second piece, Drawing of the ship Pass of Leny as a three masted square rigged sailing ship, is an
illustration created by dry media, this one using graphite pencils. It focuses on one ship, the Pass of
Leny. The creator of the illustration is unknown, but the piece is held by the John Oxley Library. ...

saturated color than the other items on the piece, which are more

Charles Manson s Influence On Society
In almost all lists of famous serial killers, probably the most mentioned among them all is Charles
Manson. With more than 35 documented killings and a cult of disciple murderers, Manson has become
the living embodiment that the devil walks on earth. But what has made this troubled youth into one of
America s feared monsters?
Charles Manson was born on November 12, 1934. Named Charles Milles Maddox, he was born and
raised in Cincinnati, Ohio, to a teenage mom, Kathleen Maddox. His alcoholic and prostitute mother
soon married William Manson but the marriage was short lived. His mother did not want anything to
do with the boy and this pushed him to live on the streets and fend for himself. Pretty soon, Charles
turned to petty crime to survive. By the time he was in his late teens, Charles was introduced to a life
in prison.
Charles met a girl in 1955 whom he married and brought with him to California. There, she became
pregnant and Charles was back into his life of petty crimes leading him to another time in prison in
1956. The young wife eventually left him after a year. After being released, Charles turned to other
crimes such as pimping, using stolen checks and conning a woman of her money. While on probation,
he met a prostitute Candy Stevens, who bore him a second child. By 1960, he was arrested for his
crimes and was sent to a Washington penitentiary.
In prison, troubles never escaped Charles. He once raped a fellow male inmate and he was considered

Vermeer In Bosnia By Lawrence Weschler
In the text Vermeer in Bosnia by Lawrence Weschler, Weschler builds an argument surrounding the
need of inventing peace . Throughout the text, Weschler refers to different individuals to build up his
claim. In each part, Weschler focuses and describes each individual as a unique existence. From
murders to peacemakers, from past to present, Wechsler individualizes them from their groups in order
to look at each with an unbiased, holistic point of view, developing a clear goal for achieving peace.
To further develop his argument, Weschler focuses on Jan Vermeer, an artist who spent his entire life
dedicated to drawing an ideal, peaceful environment which was non existent during his time. Weschler
repeatedly included Vermeer in different ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Maybe it s my lack of artistic taste, but even after the realization, I was still unable to arrive at the
same interpretation of the woman in the portrait as Weschler.
Legacy, on the other hand, is clearly defined and nearly constant even as a large span of time has
passed. Vermeer does include legacies, but with limited use, cutting off a reliable source to back up his
argument. The use of interpretations allows his argument to be disputed and possibly rejected. After
years of continuous violence and war, it is unlikely to seek out and prosecute the few that initiated the
conflict since they are most likely no longer around anymore. Even if a descendant is found,
individuality alone may not suffice for prosecution, nor will it necessarily be a step towards inventing
peace. They might as well put up a random stranger, make up a case, and claim to have prosecuted the
root of the evil. On the other hand, prosecuting a family known to have a legacy of criminal and
inhumane acts is much more likely to lead to step towards inventing peace. Though it may disregard
the individuals involved, it will truly be the end of one bloody legacy.
There are many instances where legacy trumps the interpreted individuality. In Ta Nehisi Coates
article The First White President , he brings up the idea of the white legacy aka the bloody heirloom
and uses it to describe Donald Trump s presidency. Coates develops an argument surrounding

Agricultural Trade Policies During The European Union
Agriculture has been one of the flagship areas of European collaboration since the early days of the
European Community (EC). Agricultural trade policies in the European Union (EU) can be divided
into roughly two parts: production support via the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) and External
Trade Barriers via tariffs and quotas set against non member states. When the principles of the
Common Market were decided in late 50s, France insisted on a system of agricultural subsidies as its
price for agreeing to free trade in industrial goods. The CAP began operating in 1962, with the EC
intervening to buy farm output when the market price fell below an agreed target level. This helped
reduce Europe s reliance on imported food but led to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
CAP
From the production side, the cornerstone policy of European agricultural is the CAP. This policy was
born in the late 1950s when the founding members of the EC had emerged from over a decade of
severe food shortages during and after World War II. At the time of the Treaty of Rome, signed in
1957 which established the Common Market, the then six member states strongly intervened in their
own agricultural sectors. These individual agricultural polices posed an obstacle to free trade detailed
within the rules of the Common Market. France in particular, along with a number farming
professional organisations wanted to maintain strong state intervention in agriculture. This could
therefore only be achieved if policies were harmonised and transferred to the EC level. By 1962, three
major principles had been established to guide the CAP: market unity, community preference and
financial solidarity. Since then, the CAP has been a central element in the European institutional
system and idea.
The formation of the CAP is often explained as the result of a political compromise between France
and Germany. Germany as the largest net contributor to the EU budget has therefore subsidised French
Agriculture in return for un hindered access for its Industrial goods via the Common Market. This
observation has become less true overtime, as the EU has expanded and taken on a vast array of
different markets. By 2005,

from species, the National Environmental Policy (NEP) 2006 is the important document and India is
among the few countries in world who has enacted its own environmental policy, in the NEP, 14
principles included for environmental governance, answer would be, India has NEP it outlines the
vision for environmental governance in the country, and is undoubtedly one of the very good
documents at the policy and governance level. 2ND Talking about the CBD principles, as signatory to
the CBD, India accepts all three principles and is taking measures to implement all three. Regarding
the first principle no doubt on that, in situ conservation measures are set up National Parks, Sanctuary,
Community reserves and Conservation Reserves and for ex situ we are setting up zoos, museums,
zoological gardens etc. and so on and so forth, the second principle is talking about the sustainable use
of biodiversity, here we have to say that India is not fully subscribing to the use of biodiversity, unlike
Africa unlike North America, India s conservation ethos are different, we do not believe in game

Mein Kampf, By Adolf Hitler
Mein Kampf is a outrageous book written by Adolf Hitler. The title Mein Kampf in Germany means
my struggle and was published in the summer of 1925, followed by his second version in 1927. Mein
Kampf was written while he was imprisoned. Four and a Half Years of Struggle against Lies, Stupidity
and Cowardice was Hitlers orignally title that he chose. His publisher thought it would have been
better to give it a shorter title. Hitler talked about his life and gave ideas of how he would run
Germany. He portrayed the Germans as being the superior race (blue eyes, pale complexioned skin
and blond hair) over all the other races. Hitler refers to the German people as an Aryan or the master
race. In the book, he categorized people based on their physical appearance. Hitler s book revealed his
hatred against the Jews and the Bolsheviks. Hitler s The Mein Kampf was like some kind of Bible that
the Nazis took as a guide. It basically told them everything that they would do. Before he wrote the
Mein Kampf, he was the head of the Nazi political party in the German Government of 1923. He was
known as The Fuhrer or leader. Letting people know about his racial hatred, he wasn t shy at all. He
spread information along with his disrespect for Democracy. Hitler drove the Beer Hall Putsch in
Munich against the Postwar Weimar Republic, pronouncing himself Chancellor of another

When I was assigned as the Assistant Convoy Commander, while deployed in Iraq, my duties were
comprised of giving the mission operations brief before convoys, after action reviews (AAR), teaching
battle drills, rollover drills, vehicle recovery, reaction to Improvised Explosive Device (IED), reaction
to small arms fire, and additional weapon maintenance. (11. BNOCC I and Phase II, and ANOCC, and

battle. Rollover drills class consisted of how to basically protect yourself as the vehicle is rolling. This
drill was practiced until it was second nature and consisted of bracing techniques and how to extract
yourself from the rolled vehicle. In vehicle recovery, my soldiers learned how to do combat recovery
of a vehicle in a hostile environment. (12. Combat Action Badge and 14.Bronze Star Medal).
Communication related to the reaction of the IED s include communicating with those in the vehicle,
to check for injuries. If there were injuries we formed a perimeter, secured the area, and called for
medical evacuation. If there were no injuries, we established if the vehicle was okay to drive, checked
with the others in the convoy for injuries and disabled vehicles. My job was ensuring the safety of our
people, and those we were transporting to their destination. Our mission was to keep them out of harm

Hawaii s Telescope Controversy Analysis
Shannon Hall wrote Hawaii s Telescope Controversy Is the Latest in a Long History of Land
Ownership Battles to highlight the ethics issue surrounding the use of a sacred location to further
science. The bases of this ethics issue begins in the 1950 1970, when the pursuit of the Moon,
technology and science trumped nearly all other concerns. During this time period allocations of
property were leased to astronomers in areas where locals had very little say. This occurred on the
peak of the largest mountain in the world, Mauna Kea. This mountain starts at the bottom of the ocean
floor and rises a staggering 33,500 ft, nearly a mile taller than Mt.Everest. The peak of the mountain is

A patent is a twenty year exclusive monopoly on the right to make, use and sell a qualifying invention.
This legal monopoly is considered a reward for the time and effort expended in creating the invention.
In return, the invention must be described in detail to the Patent Office, which publishes the
information, thus increasing the amount of technological knowledge available to the public. To obtain
a U.S. patent, an inventor must apply to the Patent Office and demonstrate that the invention is new
(as compared to prior technology), useful, and nonobvious. An invention is nonobvious if it is more
than a trivial, obvious next step in the advance of the technology. Software patents can be extremely
powerful economic tools. They can protect features of a program that cannot be protected under
copyright or trade secret law. For example, patents can be obtained for ideas, systems, methods,

compiling techniques, operating system techniques, program algorithms, menu arrangements, display
presentations or arrangements, and program language translation methods. Since patent rights are

The Beginning Of Fall
In the beginning of fall, which was also the beginning of school, there leaves falling outside in all
different colors with hints of beauty inside them and there I was sleeping in high school, social studies
class in the way way back. As the bell rang I started to feel a person grabbing a book from under my
hand and at a flick of a light I woke up. There it was, across the room with Austin. My book. I came
down from the stairs and asked nicely, can I have my book? Come and get it he replied.
I went over there to try to get it. Now if you ask me, I should have just tackled him because the
teacher wasn t there. But if I had done that I could get in trouble, if the teacher walked in. Therefore, I
was smart and waited and waited. Little did he know that the change of time passed and the door
started to creak open. The professor came in. He looked at me and then Austin. He saw the book high
in Austin s hand and knew what my past was of being a victim of bullies. Austin, can you please give
Boo the book? Or you will go down to the office. the professor said. There I sat looking at the
professor with a stare of a thank you. I then rose up from my seat and walked towards Austin and he
gave the book to me. Because of this, the day flew by like a pin dropping on the ground and I soon
later arrived at my house and while taking out my homework I realized football practice was at 4:30

Summary Of Berger s Invitation To Sociology
Berger s Invitation to Sociology: A Humanistic Perspective is a book about sociology as a scientific
methodology and a perspective through which the world can be explored. The author s major thesis is
that sociology is not limited to statistics, to which many people often reduce the importance of this
science, and it is not even limited to being a particular scientific discipline that is part of social
sciences, but it is a worldview in a way. Sociologists approach various situation[s]...in which people
orient their actions toward one another (Berger 1963:27), i.e. social situations, from the perspective of
these interactions and build a system of methods to analyze social processes.
By explaining the humanistic perspective proposed by him, the author convincingly demonstrates that
sociology is more than its methods, such as surveying, or its theories. There are many sociological
theories, but they all are part of the fundamental vision of all processes as the effects of human
interactions. Berger (1963) often refers to his own experience of being a sociologist, and this adds
reliability to his arguments. Also, despite beginning the book in a light and humorous manner, the
author further turns to complicated scientific notions and perspectives; this shows his expertise and
makes the book s major thesis more persuasive.
Apart from referring to reputable theories and sources, other persuasion tools used in the book include
emotional appeal and humor. These tools can build a

Abstract
This study examined the effects of speed pressure on working memory during mental arithmetic tasks.
392 undergraduate students working memory capacities were measured and participants were divided
into high and low working memory groups. They were then randomly assigned into the fast or slow
condition and tested with the critical stimuli compromised of addition equations. The findings showed
that fast conditions result in higher error rates than the slow conditions. The speed pressure also
caused high working memory individuals to shift from using rule based processing to associative
processing whereas low working memory individuals used associative processing in both conditions.

Previous studies (Beilock, 2008; Beilock, Kulp, Hot, Carr, 2004; Beilock Carr, 2005; Gimmig et al.,
2006; Beilock DeCaro, 2007) have examined choking under pressure and concluded that it occurs for
those with high working memory (HWM) capacities whereas low working memory (LWM)
individuals were not affected. Although this finding has been common amongst researchers, each have
examined different factors contributing towards pressure induced failure, in an attempt to explain the
phenomena and most accurately coincide with real life situations.
According to Beilock et al., (2004), explicit monitoring and the Distraction Theory are reasons as to
why skills may fail under pressure. Explicit monitoring, or self focus, causes the disruption of
automatic processes as individuals force conscious control over the task, causing poorer performance
despite the extra effort and attention (Beilock et al., 2004). In contrast, the Distraction Theory claims
that pressures fill the WM with worries and concerns over performance and task content which in
consequence competes with the resources which are normally utilised for execution (Beilock et al.,
2004). To date, most researchers have provided evidence in support for explicit monitoring and its
effects of choking under pressure whilst the Distraction Theory has not been adequately

Twelfth Night Criticism
William Shakespeare and The Twelfth Night
Known for his tragedies, comedies, sonnets and love stories, William Shakespeare is argued to be one
of the best writers of his time. Throughout his plays, including The Twelfth Night, he uses disguise
and deceit to fool the other characters to benefit another. Shakespeare was born in April of 1564 in the
town Stratford upon Avon. Although the exact date of his birth is not known, historians traditionally
celebrate it on the 23rd. He was one of eight children born to John Shakespeare, a well known
merchant in his community. Not much is known about his Mother, or of his schooling. It is said that

Was not this love indeed? (II.iv.111 114)
The audience, like Orsino, can only answer with an emphatic yes.
Viola s chief problem throughout the play is one of identity. Because of her disguise, she must be both
herself and Cesario. This mounting identity crisis culminates in the final scene, when Viola finds
herself surrounded by people who each have a different idea of who she is and are unaware of who she
actually is. Were Twelfth Night not a comedy, this pressure might cause Viola to break down.
Sebastian s appearance at this point, however, effectively saves Viola by allowing her to be herself
again. Sebastian, who independent of his sister is not much of a character, takes over the aspects of
Viola s disguise that she no longer wishes to maintain. Thus liberated by her brother, Viola is free to
shed the roles that she has accumulated throughout the play, and she can return to being Viola, the
woman who has loved and won Orsino.
Orsino and Olivia
Orsino and Olivia are worth discussing together, because they have similar personalities. Both claim
to be buffeted by strong emotions, but both ultimately seem to be self indulgent individuals who enjoy
melodrama and self involvement more than anything. When we first meet them, Orsino is pining away
for love of Olivia, while Olivia pines away for her dead brother. They show no interest in relating to

Evaluation on Search Engines
Final Evaluation As I have come to an end of this Unit 2, I am now going to evaluate on each elements
that were useful to me while I was doing this unit. The main sections that I am going to cover are the
search engines used, search techniques used and search criteria, sources of information used,
comparison of the internet and non internet sources and the quality of the information found. Internet
Source Most frequently used search engine for this unit was Google as it is quite obvious but I also
tried to use other search engines which I am not that familiar to such as Bing, Ask Jeeves, Dogpile,
Answers, MSN Search, Yahoo and AOL. While using Bing I found out that it allows the user to search
data in Twitter as well which is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I used many different sources of information such as internet websites, videos, articles etc and the non
internet sources were the magazines, newspapers and TV. Personally I found the internet sources
easier to look for any wanted information as it was a lot quicker and I was able to personalise the type
of search that I wanted to conduct. I also had the facility to screen print, copy the main points and get
the images instantly so that I could show it as my reference. Non internet sources was also very useful
to find the information but I had to spend more time while researching as I had to flick through many
pages just to find the article about the laptops and the information that I gained were all very limited.
The possible improvement would be that if I tried researching more using the non internet sources by
talking with the technology experts etc. There were many dates that I had come across during the
research of the pull out section. In order to check that if the dates were correct I looked into many
different search engines which showed that the dated that I obtained were accurate. To check the
reliability of the results in the search engines I researched typed Osborne 1 in Google, Bing, Yahoo
and Dogpile.
Even if I used four different search engines the results that I found were very similar

Separation of a Carboxylic Acid, a Phenol, and a Neutral...
Objective: The objective of this experiment is to use acid base extraction techniques to separate a
mixture of organic compounds based on acidity and/or basicity. After the three compounds are
separated we will recover them into their salt forms and then purify them by recrystallization and
identify them by their melting points.
Procedure:
Extraction of Carboxylic Acid
A pre weighed (0.315g) mixture of Carboxylic acid, a phenol, and neutral substance was placed into a
reaction tube (tube 1). tert Butyl methyl ether (2ml) was added to the tube and the solid mixture was
dissolved. Next, 1 ml of saturated NaHCO3 solution was added to the tube and the contents were
mixed separating the contents into three layers. Once this was completed ... Show more content on

Next, add concentrated HCl drop wise until the litmus paper indicates that it is acidic. During this
procedure, I added to much HCl because many CO2 gas bubbles evolved. This error in the experiment
will cause the recovery % to be lower.
Recovery of Phenol by Acidification
To tube 3 a piece of litmus paper was placed into the tube. Then as is tube 2 concentrated HCl was
added drop wise until the litmus paper indicated that it is acidic. No CO2 gas will evolve.
Purification of neutral substance
Tube 4 now should only have crude solid in the tube and it is then weighed. The tube is placed into a
50℃ water bath and then approximately 0.5 1 ml of methanol is added, as well as H2O until the
solution gets cloudy, once the solution is dissolved it is cooled to room temperature and then iced. The
crystals are then collected using a Hirsh funnel. Next a small amount (~ 0.1g) of the crystals are
placed into a melting point tube and placed into the melting point machine to record the unknown
neutral substances melting point.
Purification of Carboxylic Acid and Phenol
To tube 2 and tube 3 a boiling chip is added. The two tubes are boiled to remove any residual ether.
Next, the tubes are cooled to room temperature and placed into an ice bath to allow for crystallization.
The solution is then removed from the solid in each tube and discarded. To tube 2 and 3 ~0.5 ml of
H2O is added for recrystallization, the tubes

How Is Carrie Alike
The movie Carrie is Like Roger Ebert claimed in his review, a spellbinding horror movie. In the film,
Carrie is the school outcast who happens to have telekinetic powers. Carrie is quite strange and it
causes her classmates detest her for her strangeness. After witnessing her in the locker room panicking
about her first period you get to see her naiveté and when you see how her classmates react to the late
bloomer you get a feel on how she s treated at school. Even though it is dubbed as a horror movie it
isn t exactly frightening till it gets to the end of the film. In the scene I m focusing on we Carrie is at
prom with her date Tyler Ross standing on stage accepting their titles as prom king and queen. The
movie gives you a feel that something

Authority And Power In To Kill A Mockingbird Analysis
People with authority and power make choices but it s not always the right one and they sometimes
know that they re wrong yet the choice to make it. In To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee, Atticus
Finch, Scout s father who is a lawyer defends Tom Robinson from being accused of rapeing Mayella
Ewell. Also about Boo Radley a mysterious neighbor who protects both Scout and Jem from being
killed. Scout sees and experiences other people using power and authority to make choices, along with
her older brother Jem. By people who have authority and power Harper Lee demonstrates that people
with it can commit both justice and injustice. People with authority and power can affect others in
both a good and bad way. Now you tell your father [Atticus] not to teach you anymore. ... I ll [Miss.
Caroline] take over from here and try to undo the damage (23). This acknowledges that Miss.Caroline
was using her authority as a teacher to stop Scout from reading or being taught at home. This hurts
Scout because she loves reading with Atticus. Lee writes If you ll concede the necessity of going to
school, well go on reading every night just as we always have. Is it a bargain? (40). This quote
explains that Atticus is undoing the damage that Ms. Caroline had done by using his power as a father
at home to make Scout feel better. When people have the power to make their own choice, they don t
always make the right one. In TKAM the jury had to pick whether Tom was guilty. A jury

Does The Percentage Of Fat Affect The Height Of Ice Cream
How Does the Percentage of Fat in Milk Affect the Height of Ice Cream?
Purpose
The purpose of this experiment was to determine how different types of milk and cream, with different
percentages of fat, affect the height of the resulting ice cream.
Background Information Fats are lipids, which are organic compounds composed of hydrogen,
carbon, and oxygen. Most fat molecules consist of three fatty acid tails and a glycerol. Fatty acid tails
are made of hydrogen and carbon, the way that they are arranged determines the type of fat. There are
two broad categories of fats saturated and unsaturated. Saturated fats contain only single bonds
between carbons, while unsaturated fats contain double or triple bonds. When saturated, they are filled

When the ingredients are mixed together, the fat particles are disturbed and broken apart. Air is
distributed into the mixture and held in place between the fat molecules to create a smooth texture (
The Science of Ice Cream , PhysicsBuzz). At first, these products are close to room temperature,
conversely, the end product is a frozen dessert. To do this, the mixture must be cooled past its freezing
point. The ice is what ultimately freezes the cream. However, since the mixture is not just pure water,
which freezes at 0° Celsius, the freezing point must be cooler. Freezing point depression is a
colligative property where more solute is added to the solvent. In this case, salt is the solute and the
ice/water is the solvent. If the concentration of the solution is increased, consequently, the freezing
point will decrease to be lower than that of the usual. The new change will then allow the ice to absorb
the heat and melt, while transferring the coldness to the ice cream. When the ice constantly comes in
contact with the salt crystals, by stirring, churning, or other methods, it becomes cooler because of the
interaction between them. By lowering the temperature of the ice and salt mixture, the ice cream is
able to harden and take shape because it still freezes at 0° Celsius and it is being cooled down to reach

Separating By John Updike And Alice Walker
Separating and Everyday Use are two short stories published by renowned American authors in the
mid 1970s. Although these works relate to two completely opposite topics of controversy in American
history, John Updike and Alice Walker both developed storylines that provide readers with a keener
sense of cultural understanding and include deep moral themes concerning the magnitude of heritage
and family in one s life. Updike s Separating is a story about a couple s struggle to inform their
children of their decision to separate for the summer. Upon their oldest daughter s return from
England, the two arranged a homecoming meal; here, Richard and Joan would have the opportunity to
discuss the situation with all four children so that they might grieve together as a family. In the
presence of three of his children, Richard begins to cry; moved by curiosity, they unearth his secret.
Although the girls seem unaffected, the youngest son frantically and drunkenly erupts; his father then
removes him from the room and shares with him a deep, rewarding conversation about his troubles.
Later that night, the eldest son also returns. Dreadfully, Richard retrieves him and apprises him of the
situation; shocked, the son flees to his bedroom. The parents enter the room and console their
saddened son; when Richard is asked to explain the reasoning behind the separation, he realizes he
had forgotten. Walker s Everyday Use is a tale concerning a mother and her daughter awaiting the

Analysis Of Gabriel By George Sand
Gabriel by George Sand, translated by Gay Smith and directed by Rebecca MaxField was performed
at the AS220 Head Trick Theatre Saturday, December 15 at 9:00 pm. Art is about the obscurity of
modern art. In George Sand s Play, Gabriel raises many unsolved questions.
In the opening scene, Gabriel is introduced as a Woman who has been raised and educated as a boy by
his teacher, Father Chaivari played by Amy Thompson. In the seventeenth century Italy. At the
opening play, Gabriel played by Christine Pavao has a dream in which she sees an archangel Gabriel
loses his wings and become a woman. The way George Sand develop and use Androgyny to introduce
the audience to Gabriel gender presents a series of questions that make the play meta reflection by her
work at large.
The play Gabriel in Sand s eyes concern gender instability. Throughout the play The tone and text
shifts from a narrative to a dramatic mode. By raising Gabriel as a boy, her grandfather wanted to
secure and ensure the wealth and title as the prince of Bramante would pass to Gabriel rather than
Astolphe. But Gabriel rejects the idea and wants to return the wealth to Astolphe played by Kelly
Robertson. Gabriel rebels at the plan to return the wealth to the legal heir of the estate.but her
grandfather s henchman murders her before she can do so. As the audience, we see Gabriel and
Astolphe falls in love, most people thought that Gabriel would revert to being a woman and marry her
first cousin but that didn t

The Case Of Technology Being Used By A Probation Officer
In the case of technology being used by a probation officer. One major tool that is at their disposal is
social media. Officers can look on social networking sites to see if people on probation are associated
with gang members, drinking, using drugs, or doing anything else that might violate the conditions of
their probation. (Sweeney, E. (2009, November 29) GPS monitoring devices are also commonly used
to determine whether a probationer was in the vicinity of a crime scene. (Sweeney, E. (2009,
November 29) There has been much success in using technology in the law enforcement field. So
much so that it is widely used across multiple platforms. The court case, Kyllo v. United States, 533
U.S. 27 (2001). Where it was held that the use of a thermal imaging, or FLIR, device from a public
vantage point to monitor the radiation of heat from a person s home was a search within the meaning
of the Fourth Amendment, and thus required a warrant. (Kyllo v. United States. (n.d.)
The use of the thermal imaging in this case was used to search a home interior for illegal contraband
that wouldn t be known without this tool. Be an officer of the law requires, Perfection and unyielding
ethics and ultimately depends on each employee s own level of knowledge, rationality, and devotion to
moral excellence. Anything less than perfect ethical conduct can be disastrous for a department, a
community, and an entire nation. While officers are only human and will continue to make mistakes,

This also means that no captive elk, white tailed deer, or mule deer ranches exist in the state (MI Department of Natural Resources 2014). The Roman Empire was founded around 753 B.C. by the two twins, Romulus and Remus. Romulus ended up killing Remus and built the city of Rome on one of seven rolling hills. Over the course of the last few years, Baltimore has earned the title of having one of the highest homicide rates in the nation. In Alex s music s room the first thing that captures your eyes is all the red in the painting and the violins, harper and the cymbal on the floor. The decoration on the chandelier looks like there is really gems hanging in the art. In the art piece Getting Even its isn t as detailed but it makes you wonder how did Schenck catch this moment on his camera. The painting its taking place in some field of flowers. It s late at night and it looks like a man is about to kill another person but the other human being is just standing there. I guess the person is getting even by homicide since that s the name of the painting. The painting doesn t really focus on the people in it. The Effects Of The Balance Of Power The Effects of the Balance of Power Introduction In the breadth of International Relations, political theorists have been seeking a solution to maintain peace and stability among states. As conflict among states is imminent, it is impossible to fully eliminate war and aggression. However, the scope of international relations is to create an effort to minimize conflict by using communicative techniques and strategies. The best way to create diplomatic resolutions is to understand the function of the actors and their roles. The balance of power is a strategic concept that offers a feasible solution to bring about stability and harmony to conflicting states. The primary instrument that engages the prospect of war, peace, and the balance of power is the amount of actors who possess power on the international stage. There are three main systems to classify the allocation of power in the international community. The three systems include a unipolar, bipolar, and multipolar world. For the birth year, it would be the birth year of the parents of the students going to college. The percent is the percentage of students that completed college. As you can easily tell that the elite class keeps rising, while the low class barely moves. The developed country of the United States has increased the college costs for students in recent years. Higher costs only benefit the wealthy and lower income students lose in this situation. Lower income households end up borrowing too much. It doesn t affect the elite; in fact, they have the largest spike opposed to the other classes. Although college completion rates have increased, the cost of borrowing has also increased for lower class households. In a developing country, since there is more poverty and less parents that went to college, it led to most adults not having any schooling. During my research, I came to a realization that the United States is actually increasing slowly in income inequality. I saw this in another factor: health. The U.S. has a universal health care system that sometimes benefits people by providing little cost co pays. The length of life varies among the individuals and it was found that additional income allows for better care of oneself. This says that greater income inequality will produce greater inequality of life spans within countries. The life expectancy ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Washington s War Within A War Essay Washington s war within a war While it is true that wars are fought and won with weapons and selfless sacrifice, it is also true that wars cannot be won on an empty stomach. Hunger can zap a solders moral, confidence, and he can find himself lacking the energy to even aim his rifle. This is a real threat to any company, or to any army. One might even say this could be a war within a war for the starving battalion that faced such adversity. They would be faced with the loss of muscle tissue, the inability to fight, think, let alone to defend a fort. Moral breaks down, some will desert, or commit mutiny as they lose faith in their commanding officers. During war, food can be taken for granted, more faith is put on the weapon you carry, the men you serve with. However, little thought is given to how truly important food and clean water can be until you have none. When it is gone, it s all you can think of, thoughts drift to warm meals, clean clothes, clear cool water. Then one s soul sinks into depression, the feeling of defeat, the temptation to give up and surrender just for a taste of some food. This is just the war that General George Washington and the continual army faced in the winter of 1777 1778 at Valley Forge. The Oxford English Dictionary defines the genre of melodrama as, a stage play, usually romantic and sensational in plot , this description certainly applies to The Octoroon. From the first time it was presented at the start of the nineteenth century, melodrama attracted big audiences. Agricultural trade policies in the European Union (EU) can be divided into roughly two parts: production support via the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) and External Trade Barriers via tariffs and quotas set against non member states. When the principles of the Common Market were decided in late 50s, France insisted on a system of agricultural subsidies as its price for agreeing to free trade in industrial goods. The CAP began operating in 1962, with the EC intervening to buy farm output when the market price fell below an agreed target level. This policy was born in the late 1950s when the founding members of the EC had emerged from over a decade of severe food shortages during and after World War II. At the time of the Treaty of Rome, signed in 1957 which established the Common Market, the then six member states strongly intervened in their own agricultural sectors. These individual agricultural polices posed an obstacle to free trade detailed within the rules of the Common Market. France in particular, along with a number farming professional organisations wanted to maintain strong state intervention in agriculture. This could therefore only be achieved if policies were harmonised and transferred to the EC level. By 1962, three major principles had been established to guide the CAP: market unity, community preference and financial solidarity. Since then, the CAP has been a central element in the European institutional system and idea. The formation of the CAP is often explained as the result of a political compromise between France and Germany. • 32. Summary Of Berger s Invitation To Sociology Berger s Invitation to Sociology: A Humanistic Perspective is a book about sociology as a scientific methodology and a perspective through which the world can be explored. The author s major thesis is that sociology is not limited to statistics, to which many people often reduce the importance of this science, and it is not even limited to being a particular scientific discipline that is part of social sciences, but it is a worldview in a way. Sociologists approach various situation[s]...in which people orient their actions toward one another (Berger 1963:27), i.e. social situations, from the perspective of these interactions and build a system of methods to analyze social processes. By explaining the humanistic perspective proposed by him, the author convincingly demonstrates that sociology is more than its methods, such as surveying, or its theories. There are many sociological theories, but they all are part of the fundamental vision of all processes as the effects of human interactions. Berger (1963) often refers to his own experience of being a sociologist, and this adds reliability to his arguments. Also, despite beginning the book in a light and humorous manner, the author further turns to complicated scientific notions and perspectives; this shows his expertise and makes the book s major thesis more persuasive. Apart from referring to reputable theories and sources, other persuasion tools used in the book include emotional appeal and humor. These tools can build a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Although this finding has been common amongst researchers, each have examined different factors contributing towards pressure induced failure, in an attempt to explain the phenomena and most accurately coincide with real life situations. According to Beilock et al., (2004), explicit monitoring and the Distraction Theory are reasons as to why skills may fail under pressure. Explicit monitoring, or self focus, causes the disruption of automatic processes as individuals force conscious control over the task, causing poorer performance despite the extra effort and attention (Beilock et al., 2004). In contrast, the Distraction Theory claims that pressures fill the WM with worries and concerns over performance and task content which in consequence competes with the resources which are normally utilised for execution (Beilock et al., 2004). To date, most researchers have provided evidence in support for explicit monitoring and its effects of choking under pressure whilst the Distraction Theory has not been adequately ... This mounting identity crisis culminates in the final scene, when Viola finds herself surrounded by people who each have a different idea of who she is and are unaware of who she actually is. Purpose The purpose of this experiment was to determine how different types of milk and cream, with different percentages of fat, affect the height of the resulting ice cream. Background Information Fats are lipids, which are organic compounds composed of hydrogen, carbon, and oxygen. Most fat molecules consist of three fatty acid tails and a glycerol. When the ingredients are mixed together, the fat particles are disturbed and broken apart. Air is distributed into the mixture and held in place between the fat molecules to create a smooth texture ( The Science of Ice Cream , PhysicsBuzz). At first, these products are close to room temperature, conversely, the end product is a frozen dessert. To do this, the mixture must be cooled past its freezing point. The ice is what ultimately freezes the cream. However, since the mixture is not just pure water, which freezes at 0° Celsius, the freezing point must be cooler. Freezing point depression is a colligative property where more solute is added to the solvent. In this case, salt is the solute and the ice/water is the solvent. If the concentration of the solution is increased, consequently, the freezing point will decrease to be lower than that of the usual. The new change will then allow the ice to absorb the heat and melt, while transferring the coldness to the ice cream. When the ice constantly comes in contact with the salt crystals, by stirring, churning, or other methods, it becomes cooler because of the interaction between them. By lowering the temperature of the ice and salt mixture, the ice cream is able to harden and take shape because it still freezes at 0° Celsius and it is being cooled down to reach that ...
