Dehumanization Of Women In The Handmaids Tale
To dehumanize someone is to strip them of everything that makes them human, all their good
qualities, all their basic rights, everything that can label them an individual. Similarly, in
Margaret Atwood s The Handmaid s Tale, the women in the Republic of Gilead are degraded in
such a way that they are stripped of their previous selves. Women in Gilead are outfitted by their
functions, forced to have sex and they, especially handmaids, are used as tools. In The Handmaid
s Tale, Atwood utilizes motifs to further dehumanize the women of Gilead. To begin, the
Republic of Gilead outfits women based on their function to strip them of their individuality. The
process starts by colour coding women into easily identifiable class groups. This is seen when
Offred makes her way to town, narrating the scene and drawing attention to the other women by
saying, There are other women with baskets, some in red, some in the dull green of the Marthas
(Atwood 27). Women in Gilead have been colour coded to be easily identifiable and known under
their respective colours, completely erasing their identities. Furthermore, the colours they wear
identify their sole purposes to society. When Offred first introduces Econowives she notes that
...the striped dresses, red and blue and green... Econowives, they re called. These women are not
divided into functions. They have to do everything... (Atwood 27). The Econowives are the wives
or the poorer men, wearing the medley of all three colours to

The Evolution of Film Essay example
In the early times of narrative cinema there was litter pressure on the filmmakers for the
evolution of film forms before nickelodeons (Salt, 31) as cinema had not become a mass cultural
product and film was still just a novelty expected to die out like rock n roll. And so the demand
was low and so the supply could remain unoriginal. Mary Jane s Mishap was made in 1903 when
multi scene films were becoming popular (Salt, 32). Mary Jane s Mishap is notable for its use of
experimental and inventive shot transitions. It used a vertical wipe to instead of separate
successive scenes (Salt, 32) (as it cuts to a shot width a wider frame of the same locale) but to
change the zoom level. This frame is essentially an insert and borderline... Show more content on

In big bold letter PARRAFIN the flammable oil. Without this shot the viewer would be perplexed
as to why she exploded and allows the narrative to flow as it could be water or any other fluid for
all they know as cleverly Smith used this mise en scene to explain the narrative instead of an
intertitle before the explosion which would have removed all suspense, tension and mystery
especially after she moved to the cameras to show her gesturing a bright idea. Though this close up
could also be argued by Gunning of being of the cinema of attractions as For a time [in cinema]
close ups were only used as an attraction to see an images but larger than life but inciting visual
curiosity (Gunning, pg 58) rather being evolutionary towards narrative cinema. The close ups
heighten the only [tool they] they have at their disposal, a language of gestures (Burch, 224)
musser idea
Mary Jane s Mishap combined the cinema of attraction trick film with the viewers want for
narrative. The decline in their [trick films] commercial importance was already evident by 1906
(Salt, 40) Smith used a jump cut to create the illusion of Mary Jane exploding into smoke by
subtracting her and adding smoke in the successive shot. He also uses superimposition to create a
ghost liken creature. Like an avatar for its day. This shows narratives cinema still being influenced
by the cinema of attractions as to make an entertaining film.

Understanding of Identity in Samuel P. Huntington s Clash...
The word identity inspired many writers in our contemporary world, toarticulate their ideas and
state their suggestions in a way to find a precise definition for such a word, especially where the
globalization has become a fact which produces with it many effectual consequences. Some writers
had linked Identity with the original cultureto which a person may belong, others dealt with it as a
changing factor transformed according to every ones status, however a third category characterized
the Identity from another angel in view of religious or ideological background. Huntington being
one of the leading writers in this sphere has imagined a future world witnesses a clash of
civilizations.According to his categorizationfrom a cultural perspective however; the world shall be
divided into eight civilizations. This essay shall shed a light into the different understandings of
theidentity and culture as in relation to Islam and the West having reference to different arguments
and visions presented in the following scholarly sources.
Samuel P. Huntington in his book The Clash of Civilizations has predicted that the source of
conflict in the new world shall not be ideological or primarily economic, as the great divisions
among humankind and dominating source of conflict shall be cultural.Although nation states will
remain to be the most powerful actors in world affairs, yet the principal conflict of global politics
will occur between nations and groups of different

Standardized Terminologies In Nursing Practice
Applying Standardized Terminologies in Practice Hyperhemesis gravidarum is a condition in which
the pregnant woman experiences severe nausea and vomiting. Although the causes of hyperemesis
gravidarum are not well known; however, many believe that elevated blood level of human
chorionic gonadotopin (HCG) may be a contributing factor of this condition. Currently the cause of
nausea and vomiting in pregnancy is unknown, although there is strong evidence linking human
chorionic gonadotropin or estrogens as well as genetic susceptibility possibly mediated through
the vestibuloocular reflex pathway (Fejzo et al., 2012). The following case scenario refers to a 22
weeks pregnant woman admitted to the labor and delivery unit with severe nausea... Show more

Nursing terminologies also help nurses to plan care that reflects the patient s needs, anticipate these
needs, and intervene accordingly. In addition, nursing informatics makes the use of standardized
terminologies more important than ever because it allows differentiating the impact of nursing care
from those of other disciplines. Thus, the standardization of nursing terminologies with documented
nursing diagnoses, nursing interventions, and patient outcomes is important to nursing practice
because it unifies the language among nurses and other healthcare providers, which will have a
positive impact on the quality of

Attending The A Homicide Trial
I plan to attend the a homicide trial. I went by myself to Sonoma s Superior Court buildings the
day before and asked a woman working which cases would be good to go to and she
recommended I come in the next day to see a triple homicide trial on Mark Capello. I have never
been to a court proceeding before, so I am not exactly sure what to expect. I am excited at the
prospect of viewing a homicide case. Will it be like the court shows on television? I enjoy
watching dateline, and in that show they actually play clips of real court trials that have occurred.
However, they only show the most interesting parts for television. I expect that this court
proceeding will be different to what I have seen on t.v. I am picturing myself being... Show more

There will also be bailiffs near the exits there to keep the peace and ensure safety in the
courthouse. As the trail begins, I imagine that the bailiffs will ask all of us in the courtroom to rise
as the judge and the jury come in. After we sit, I believe that the judge will be announced and a
small introduction will be stated to refresh everyone s memories of what is going on most
recently in the trail. As soon as that is done, I assume that we will dive right into the
proceedings. To be honest, I am not really sure what will happen in the court room. It all depends
on what point in the trial they are at. The defense attorney could be questioning someone. The
prosecutor could be questioning somebody. Somebody could be testifying, whether it be a
witness, an expert, or Mark Capello himself. For all I know, I could possibly see images from
the crime scene. I know that the murders happened in early 2013, so they could be pretty far
along in the trail. I simply plan on being present and trying to take good notes and absorb as much
as I can for the two hours I am there.
Part II At eight in the morning on March 18th, my classmate Hallie and I showed up at the
Administration building to go see a criminal court proceeding. The trail didn t start until 8:30 am

The Wilmington Race Riot
Currently, there has been a major event occurring in the town of Wilmington, North Carolina
between citizens of many races, and many political parties, including the Republican Party,
Democratic Party, and the Populist Party. These parties had different political and racial views on
government policies, and who should rule. Wilmington is a strong religious community, and is the
center of African American political and economic success.
After the end of the Civil War, laws allowed blacks to get an education and were able to manage
their own businesses. Since the government created laws that allowed blacks to vote, there has
been some controversy between whites and blacks. A major event occurred called the Fusion
Coalition. When it was time to vote, people fused their voters and hoped to defeat the
Democratic Party by doing this. Propaganda and media is put up all over town to intimidate
people and make people believe certain things, based on what type of propaganda it is. People
have started to fall for these propaganda posters, and it causes people to believe whatever they see.
This sparked the current Race Riot because it actually led people to believe that blacks are bad and
that they should not have a say.

Call Of Duty Vs Snapchat
The PR case study I have chosen to write about is from Prnewsonline.com , the article is called
How Call of Duty Used Snapchat to Ignite its community. This case study talks about how the
two companies teamed up to get Call of Duty players interested in Black Ops 3. Working
together the duo was even able to win a 2015 PR News Digital PR Award. I chose this case study
because I love playing video games and Call of Duty is one of my favorite games. Now Call of
Duty and Snapchat are both majors companies, with too many people still focused on Black Ops
2 Call of Black Ops 3 was in trouble. While Snapchat is a growing company they were a perfect
choice to help with the games demographic. Now every gamer loves hacks weather they admit it
or not, the campaign team used that to their advantage. By appearing as a hack they knew it would
gather more people s attentions. Public relations practitioners should be familiar with their
organizations history (Swann 555). The Black Ops campaign does just this by using a hack that
was disguised as a standard game update. All gamers will always upgrade because it means better

By using snapchat codes players were able to go to the Black Ops Snapchat account where the
first clues about Black Ops 3 were released. Now not releasing any information about the
campaign beforehand was clever because it allowed the information be spread by the players
leaving the written and spoken elements to them. Not only are the snapchat codes used they were
also place strategically in different maps on the multiplayer mode. Now in multiplayer mode you
can chat with one another, so the campaign team can use this to their advantage. By speaking to
one another while playing the game players would definitely talk about finding a snapchat code in

Case Study On Pepsi
Final Takeaways:
From the small sample size we had, we conclude that Pepsi tastes better than Coca Cola, even for
Coca Cola lovers.
A few people liked Coke so much that they thought it had better taste. They still chose Pepsi
(confirming its superior taste) in the blind taste test and assumed that it was Coke (confirming their
brand loyalty)
Anomalies like Piyush Rai and Rishabh Khandelwal could turn the purpose of the experiment moot.
However, the latter admitted that he knew that Pepsi tasted better. Brand loyalty mattered in both
these cases.
4 of the last 5 people all chose the Coke bottle with Pepsi in it, claiming they liked the taste of the
drink inside better, saying that the drink inside was Coke. They had all had chosen Pepsi as the
tastier option in the blind test, but insisted on Coke being tastier. It turns out they chose Coke simply

And Then There Were None Murder Mystery
Agatha Christie s novel, And Then There Were None, is widely considered to be a murder mystery.
Although I agree with the genre of the novel, many people oppose that it s a murder mystery.
Despite the fact that the novel clarifies who the murderer is in the epilogue, the murderer is a
mystery throughout the course of the book. Agatha Christies novel is a murder mystery because the
murderer is unknown, the novel includes mysterious deaths, and there is a crime to be solved.
The murderer in And Then There Were none is unknown, which is a crucial aspect of a murder
mystery. The visitors called this unknown murderer the unknown soldier, (Christie 96) because he
was one of the ten visitors. Even though I suspected who the killer was out of the ten characters
there, I always turned out to be wrong. After a lot of the guests started dying, the rest of them
realized that they were being murdered indirectly to amuse the killer. When Anthony, the first guest,
died Dr. Armstrong came to the conclusion that his death wasn t what we call a natural death,
(Christie 64) but was instead poisoned with potassium cyanide. This shows that the murderer was
quick, precise, and wanted to remain a mystery. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

lyrics of the poem. Although the characters soon realized that the murderer was playing a game

Who has access to your tax data?

Abstract
In this tax season, when billions of dollars and tons of personal information is relayed to and from
the government, it s more than disconcerting to hear that the Internal Revenue Service is still
struggling to keep private information secure.
The purpose of my study is to improve the safeguard of taxpayers data at the Internal Revenue
Service. Due to the fact that firewalls are in place and transaction monitoring is also in place; yet,
taxpayers data is still being exploited. It seems that the problem lies in the character of some of the

MEMPHIS An Internal Revenue Service employee in Memphis has been indicted on charges of
filing false tax returns and stealing data from the agency. The U.S. attorney s office said in a
news release today that Farrah Jones of Memphis, who was hired as a tax examining technician in
2001, used the data for returns she filed for herself and others. Prosecutors said Jones obtained
dependent information from IRS files and used the data on tax returns she prepared, knowing that
the taxpayers were not entitled to claim these dependents. This allegedly occurred for a year
ending in February 2007. She was arrested Thursday and released on $5,000 bond.
Another issue is browsing where taxpayer data is researched for personal purposes i.e. revenge

My Last Day Of Break Essay
The last week of school before break was a blast. The first two days were fairly easy, as they were
the last days of each class. But, it got even better when the days shortened. While finals were

Friday, I headed home, as I always do, on the bus. I got home far before the rest of my family, as
they were all still at work or in school. I enjoyed my first few hours of break just relaxing on my

How Chinese Culture Has Changed Over The Years
Chinese culture is truly one of the great civilization our world has come across. It boasts a vast
geographic expanse, over 4000 years of written history, as well as a rich and profound traditional
society. Many aspects of Chinese civilization can be traced back many centuries. It is so diverse
and unique, yet harmoniously blended, and presents itself a priceless benefit to the world.
One of the integral parts of Chinese culture that was not thoroughly discussed in class is the role
Chinese women played in ancient traditional society and how it has transformed in the many
historical changes is the way of life in china. I aim to speak on women in ancient times, women at
the end of feudal society as well as the role of women in present day China.
I chose this topic because I view women as the backbone to the development or a nation, therefore
the Chinese woman is paramount in one of the world s great civilizations. The role of women in
Chinese culture has changed over the years. When we consider the position that women held in
ancient Chinese society we find that they have come a long way to be where they are today.
The family structure has traditionally been the basic unit of Chinese society, where women have
long been given the task of the continuation of the society s core values, in their roles as wives and
mothers. While the expected values have evolved with time, from the imperial period to the
Communist revolution to the modern day, this responsibility for women has

Sex Workers And The Rights Of Human Trafficking And Human...
When you hear about human trafficking, most people do not think about it going on their own
backyard. At the same time, there is the occasional news story about prostitution, in one way or
another. Although the deeper problems underlying the two topics are rarely spoken about in a
public forum, the relationship between the two are incredibly important in the protection of
trafficking victims and the preservation of rights of legitimate sex workers. The sex workers
rights movement is important in understanding the position sex workers have as workers and
members of a community tainted by illegal trafficking. Human sex trafficking is the movement of
people, by force, into the sex trade, or other forced labor. Yes, sex workers should have their
profession considered as a legitimate sector. Yes, human sex trafficking should be stopped. While
both of those things are true it is important to consider all aspects of both to form a movement
directed at the two, rather than focus on strictly one or the other. A movement that is geared
towards creating an even ground between the rights of individuals to use their sexuality to make an
honest living, and the protection of individuals from the exploitation of that very same sexuality, is
pivotal in the continuation of protecting human rights across the globe. By examining how several,
very different, countries deal with sex work and human trafficking, we can attempt to understand
how we can move forward with a new more complex

Amelia Earhart Disappearance Theory
How could someone survive a plane crash? Since Amelia Earhart s disappearance, theories were
developed trying to explain what was taken into effect, after there was no response from her in the
Pacific ocean. Some either believe that Japanese troops kidnapped her, she died as a castaway, or
that Earhart lived under another identity. In the end, Amelia Earhartdid survive her attempted
voyage around the world. Earhart s mysterious disappearance lead to different theories. One of
those theories is that the Japanese kidnapped Amelia Earhart and her navigator Noonan, holding
them captive. Earhart and Noonan were making a stop on Howland island, but before they arrived
they lost connection with the U.S. Coast Guard. Years later, a picture was discovered in the U.S.
National Archives displaying what is supposed Earhart and Noonan near Japanese troops. Along
with the two missing people in the photograph, parts of plane were behind them. An American spy
took the picture. An article in:
Kent Gibson, a facial recognition expert, who studied the photo, said in the History Channel

distinctive characteristic, Gibson said. It s a very sharp receding hairline. The nose is very
prominent.
A facial recognition expert confirmed that the U.S. spies photograph could possibly be Noonan and

John Keats s On First Looking Into Chapman s Homer
An English Romantic poet by the name of John Keats was known as one of the best romantic
poets of the 18th century for his excellent perspective on nature. As well as the relationship
between man and nature. He allows readers to truly visualize nature in their mind when they read
his work. John Keats s poem, On first looking into Chapman s Homer was written in 1816. The
sonnettells the reader about how Keats compares his experiences to reading about Homer s novel
dealing with Odysseus s experience of adventures around the world. Keats gives the reader a
sense of how going to so many places does not mean that you have truly seen the world as a

there is so much more beyond what you have already seen. There are parts of the world that you

The Sixth Sense Book Report
We have five senses: sight, sound, touch, taste, and smell. However, German philosopher, Friedrich
Nietzsche, coined the term The Sixth Sense meaning the Industrial Revolution. Joseph Cooper
Ramo took this a step further with what he calls The Seventh Sense , speaking of the age of
constant connection. A transformation is occurring, just like what happened when factories and
more changed the way life was lived in the 18th century. We are constantly connected to each other,
news, and information. It has diminished barriers for businesses, networking, politics, etc. It has
also allowed terrorists better access to resources and chaos to spread more rapidly than ever before.
This book explores how these connections fit into human history, how they operate, and how the
future looks with this new power.

The Analytical Effectiveness Of The Assessment
As I reflect about the various assessments I utilized for my project, I have mixed feelings about
the evaluative effectiveness of the assessments. When I began examine Jen s formal
assessments results (such as, Running Records, BY and EY Benchmarks, Sound Identification
/Sigh Word Inventory forms), I believed the assessments would accurately demonstrate a
positive progress Jen had made during the course of the year. What I discovered was both an
intended and unintended consequence of assessment use. On the one hand, I found the
assessments to be useful tools to gauge student literacy abilities. On the other hand, I believe
that the focus on assessment led to the teacher developing a deficit mindset with Jen. Often
times Jen s teacher narrowly would focus on Jen s inability to be at grade level or lack of drastic
improvement. In fact, the only thought Jen s teacher had was on the fact that Jen did not meet
the expected reading level for the end of the year for K 2. I believe if teachers rely too much on
assessment scores limits their ability to understand external factors or barriers that influence a
child s literacy. McKenna and Picard (2007) discuss the importance for teachers to view students
word miscue analysis beyond the checks on paper and formulas. McKenna and Picard caution
teachers to avoid focusing on the assessment scores because they believe children reading
strategies to decode words or understand a word meaning does not always mean reading proficiency.

The Tempest By William Shakespeare
Brown s insistence that The Tempest is a play of steeped in ambivalence and contradictions is not
entirely unfounded, however. Prospero himself is an extremely powerful magus whose power
borders on the transcendent and divine; he is also a man obsessed with perfecting his art that, at
times, can be base and wicked. He demonstrates compassion and generosity, yet his apathetic and
sometimes contemptuous treatment of other characters raises questions about his moral
sensibilities. Within the drama of the play, these paradoxes create a dynamic that highlights the
contrast between Prosperoand those who (seek to) foil him Stephano, Trinculo, and Caliban
characters that Brown demarcates as masterless or othered (273). While he correctly identifies such
instances of doubling, Brown conflates these binaries as markers of colonial discourse, the
colonizer and the colonized, and entirely elides the binary of the noble and the natural. This
dichotomy, which is staunchly embedded in the Renaissance conception of natural order the great
chain of beingis eminent throughout the play and integral to its thematic purpose of restoration and
redemption. Brown s failure to address the great chain of being in any capacity throughout his
argument is indicative of his limited understanding of the historical context in which The Tempest
was written and the corresponding philosophical ideology that informed Shakespeare s manifold
intentions.

The scholarly article, Dressed and Groomed for Success in Elementary School Student Appearance

The second scholarly article, Critical Race Theory and Whiteness of Teacher Educationis written by

Due to the fact that the articles are different, then the purposes for these articles differ. The
purpose of the first article is to see how theory and research suggest that students academic

their students based off of their initial appearance and relating that to their competence at school.

does care about how that soldier looks after the battle. I can see how having facial hair can make

The International Labour Organization and Its Attempt to...
Introduction This essay will look at the International Labour Organisation (ILO) and its attempts
to alleviate child labour up until now. Firstly, a definition of child labour will be provided after
which an introductory overview will be given about the ILO s activities against child labour.
Thereafter, a critical assessment will be provided regarding the ILO s steps against child labour,
and some major problems will be highlighted regarding the ILO s approach to eliminate child
labour. Defining Child Labour Mowing the lawn, washing the car and dishes, or cleaning the
kitchen are the types of tasks that most children dislike to do. However, tasks such as these are
not defined as child labour. Generally speaking, child labour is defined as something along the
lines of: Labour that exploits children and restricts their mental and physical development , and
thus household chores, in most cases, cannot be considered to be a form of child labour. However,
labour that is not appropriate for children, such as working with dangerous machinery, mining, or
work that exposes children to sexual abuse, can be defined as child labour. This is due to the fact
that, in situations like the ones described, children are exposed to exploitation and to circumstances
that are detrimental to their physical and mental health. That being said, labour in itself is not
considered to be necessarily a bad thing for children, since it can provide them with many learning
opportunities. For example,

David Hume s Definition Of Free Will
What is free will? The general concept of free will is the ability to make choices of your own
without anyone or anything impeding them which, consequently, makes you morally responsible.
Free will, however, is non existent. This is explained with the theory of determinism and
solidified via hard determinism. Our actions and behavior can be traced to our desires and beliefs
which are directly caused by our genetics and environment. There are many stances and arguments
against this idea but ultimately do not dissuade against it. There are many beliefs as to what free will
is, and many have tried to establish its meaning. David Hume believes it is the ability to act on
your beliefs and desires and as your beliefs and desires change, so does your behavior. The
problem with Hume s definition is that those with compulsory disorders and addictions have
free will according to that definition. Harry Frankfurt believes that if first and second order
desires are in agreement then you have free will. The problem with Frankfurt s definition is that
the addicts that do not have a conflicting order of desires have free will according to the
definition and those who are weak willed do not have free will. The general explanation of free
will discussed in the introduction is what will be used, seeing that the ones explained have their

Dante And The Nature Of Sin
Dante and the Nature of Sin
Often, we cannot see the good until we have experienced the bad. Dante Alighieri, a poet who
makes himself the main character in his Divine Comedy, finds himself lost in a dark wood at the
start of The Inferno. Though he sees a safe path out of the wood towards an alluring light, he is
forced to take an alternate route through an even darker place. As the ending of the pilgrim Dante s
voyage is bright and hopeful, Alighieri the poet aims to encourage even the most sinful Christians
to hope for a successful end. Thus, Dante the pilgrim goes to hell in The Inferno to better understand
the nature of sin and its consequences in order to move closer to salvation; his journey an allegory
representing that of the repenting Christian soul. Before Virgil arrives to guide Dante on his
journey, Dante shares that he doesn t recall how he lost his way. He tells How I entered [the
dark wood] I cannot truly say, I had become so sleepy at the moment when I first strayed, leaving
the path of truth (Inferno I.10 12). Because he strayed from the holy path, Dante finds himself
lost and trying to find his way back on the right track. Dante s ultimate goal is to to free himself
from the dark wood of confusion and chaos. Looking up from the wood, Dante sees the hilltop
shawled in morning rays of light sent from the planet that leads men straight ahead on every road
(Inferno I.16 18). Dante begins to move towards the light, but is blocked from passing by three

The Impact Of The Trail Of Tears
Native Americans Indians faced numerous challenges to their survival as people on their own
lands in the eighteenth century. The Indians found themselves under severe pressure by settlers
and speculators in the new nation interested in expanding east and westward of North America,
either by acquiring Indian lands by treaty or by force. The American people at the time viewed
Native Americans as uncivilized and savage. In May of 1830, Congress passed The Indian
Removal Act, headed by President Andrew Jackson[3]. Even Thomas Jefferson, who often cited
the Great Law of Peace of the Iroquois Confederacy as the model for the U.S. Constitution,
supported Indian Removal as early as 1802[5]. Its main goal was the removal of the southeastern
Indian tribes. Jackson convinced the American Indians that with whites surrounding the Indian,
their culture was slowly being destroyed. It was the Native American who suffered most from
Andrew Jackson s vision of America. With all this in mind the Indian Removal act was inhuman
and in no doubt it should ve been done differently. This journey of the removal was called the Trail
of Tears, and this paper will show the effect it had on the Cherokee. The native people of the North
America lived for hundreds of years in peace. However, in 1540 the everyday lives of the Native
Americans came to an alarming halt. It was in that year that Hernando de Soto came in contact with
the native people of North America[1]. From then on the natives,

results of dark reaction sufficiency. In photosynthesispigments function is to absorb the light

Hence most of the energy which was previously absorbed by accessory pigments is actually
transfer to chlorophyll a. This transfer is possible due to a fact that chlorophyll a among all
other pigments have the possibility to absorb at the longest wavelength. Moreover its excitation
cost less energy. However chlorophyll a can be divided into different forms, which depends upon
changes of the maximal wavelength absorption, which range between 662 and 700 nm. This
segregation system allows the transfer from the short wavelength to long wavelength and
appears as a two distinct systems, which are the photosystem I (PI) and photosystem II (PII). The
organization of the systems present as: PI contains the chlorophyll a longest wavelength
absorption type, while PII also contain the chlorophyll a, but a short wavelength absorption type
and additionally the accessory pigments. In the each of the reactive center there is an energy
trap, therefore PI with single molecule of a chlorophyll a with absorption of 700 nm will have a
P700 trap, where PII will result with P 680 690 trap where the absorption wavelength by different
form of chlorophyll a and accessory pigments is shorter. (Dring

The Arrangement Of The Staff
CHAPTER 1INTRODUCTION
1.1 Background
The arrangement of the staff has different affectedly in recent decades all over the world. In the
year 2000, 61% of all married women over age 16 in the US were in the workforce, compared to
just 41% in 1970 (US Census Bureau, 2001); More employees are now engaged in a dual earner
lifestyle where both partners work and share responsibility for family care giving (Greenhaus et al.,
2000). In fact, recent research indicates that 85% of employees report having some day to day
family responsibilities (Bond et al., 1998). These changing demographic trends, coupled with
greater family involvement by men (Pleck, 1985) and heightened interest of employers in
employee s quality of life (Zedeck Mosier, 1990) prompted a proliferation of research on the
relationship between work and family roles. Interest and concern in the interface between work
and non work life, especially family life. Numerous scholars (e.g. O Driscoll, 1996; Edwards
Rothbard, 2000; Frone, 2003; Grzywacz Marks, 2000) have observed that changing social
demographics, altering family role expectations, shifting family structure, aging workforce, as well
as recent technological developments, increasing globalization, and international business
competitiveness have contributed to a blurring of boundaries between the domains of employment
and family and to greater permeability between these domains. For example, globalization may
require key employees to travel or

Oh What A Slaughter Summary
Kevin Glenn Dr. Brooks Flippen History 1523 6 November 2015 McMurtry, Larry. Oh What a
Slaughter: Massacres in the American West: 1846 1890. New York, NY: Simon Schuster, 2005.
Oh What A Slaughter Book Review On Earth, there are different peoples who have been
coexisting together for years take for example some of the Native American tribes. The settlement
of people in the world is such that different people who come from one tribe tend to settle in a
given region where they live together peacefully and carry on with their daily day to day activities
to improve their livelihoods. However, people from different parts of the world develop some
differences between them that result in conflicts among them in some instances. Conflicts can be...

As previously mentioned, McMurtry does not really take a side in any of the massacres. In each
account the reader is presented with historically accurate information of what went down,
although he does sometimes slip a stray opinion in; however, this is to be expected in a book
where the author is focusing on the cruelty of humans towards each other. McMurtry explains that
it was not just a one sided battle with Settlers attacking the Native Americans; both groups had
their share of bouts against each other, and they both constantly tried to preemptively strike. It is
made evident through some of the author s comments that although a lot of the Native Americans
were able to get along peacefully together for years and that the majority of tribes were peaceful
(with the exception of a few, of course), the white man invading their sacred land, destroying
everything in their path, and raping and killing their women and children was an infuriating blow
to nearly every tribe on the land; I think this would set just about anyone off. In addition, none of
the group is ready to appreciate the other one, or even consider a truce; instead, they focus more on
what will only bring chaos among

The Anna Karenina Principle
The Anna Karenina principle is important because it explains a feature of animal domestication that
had heavy consequences for human history. Specifically how suitable big wild mammals were
never domesticated and most domesticated animals are Eurasian. The Anna Karenina principle
directly applies to domesticating animals because to be domesticated, a species must possess many
different characteristics, as there must be many characteristics of happiness in the principle.
Diamond states that lack of any characteristic dooms efforts at domestication. The Anna Karenina
principle applies directly to the domestication of animals, making it relevant in understanding why
some wild animals were not domesticated.
By comparing mutations, one can see that a crop was independently domesticated in separate areas.
This is suggested if a crop includes two or more alternative wild variants, or mutations. It is
suggested because if the same crop has many different variants, it inherited one particular mutation
from one area and the other mutation was inherited from a different area. This information is
important to tracing the spread of agriculture because it can suggest that a crop spread very quickly
to the surrounding area (one mutation), preventing the need of independently growing the crop
elsewhere. On the other hand, it can also suggest that a crop spread too slow to prevent its
independent domestication elsewhere.
Civilization led to epidemic because as people started to

Saint Is The Second Set Of The Boxers And Saints Novels.
Saint is the second set of the Boxers and Saints novels. The saints tells the story of Four Girl or
Vibiana and her struggle in the family, her spiritual journey, and her responses toward the situation
in her society . Belonged to the historical fiction genre , the story of Vibiana is built around the
Boxers rebellion event in China in the 19th century.
It is narrated that the main character was born as the fourth child in a family. Four is a bad number
in Chinese belief and culture. Born on the same day that her father s death, combined with the fact
that she was the fourth child, her grandfather refuses to name her . Her mother then chose to just

When she was nine years old, four girl met a girl mystical figure in the forest, roasting the
raccoon for dinner. In her search of the answer, she went to the forest and witnessed Gabriel
giving revelation to Joan . With that sight, she committed herself to join the training in the church
(catechism). Four Girl asked whether there would be cookies available in the teaching of the
classes she attended ( p. 57) and how she devoured the lunch reward after catechism ( p.59). Page
58 reveals how critical Four Girl was on the teaching and the concept of Christianity. Dr. Won
interpreted this as a desire to know ( p. 59) and that she has spiritual sensitivty .
The catechism classes have convinced Four Girl to embrace Christianity. So she was then
baptized under the watchful eyes of Dr. Won , Mrs. Won , and Joan. Returning home, her uncle
and Chun her cousin, were waiting for her. Chun was ordered by his father to teach Vibiana, her
new name, a lesson for being a Christian . After the incident, her mother told the story of her
father who joined a foreign cult and ended up having a tragic life and death. Her mother wanted
her to leave the foreign religion and apologize to the family. That night, she decided to leave the
house and followed Father Bey .
The story moved forward to the age when she was 14. In a dialog, Father Bey asked whether God
had spoken to her about her vocation . After a series of questions, Vibiana concluded that she (

Short And Long Term Effects Of The Greek Revolution
The Ottoman Turks first ruled over Greece when it captured Constantinople and eventually the rest
of Greece. This put Greece and a variety of other countries in their power. The Greeks wanted
liberation from the Turks from the start and began having unsuccessful rebellions that eventually
lead to the rebellion in the Peloponnese, where the war is said to have really begun. They were
inspired by the successes of the French Revolution and felt responsible for the preservation and
development of their culture. This bonded them together and made them feel nationalism. The
Greek War of Independence was a successful liberal movement that achieved their goals and was
revolutionary. Under the Ottoman rule, the Greeks were not happy. The Muslim Turks... Show more

Starting with the short term effects, the first matter to be solved was the land question. After the
Greeks had won, there were plots of land abandoned by the Turks. The Greek government
eventually gave each peasant family and veteran 20 acres of the confiscated land too small for
prosperity, but enough to show that they believed that each Greek could be self sustainable. Next,
with one part of the population of Greeks independent, they needed to figure out what their
relationship was with all of the Greek nation. In response, they made a policy in which all Greeks
were unified. Onto the long term effects, the revolt is a crucial in Ottoman history because it
started a wave of rebellions against them eventually leading to their demise and the creation of new
Mediterranean states. The Greek revolution was in no way the first rebellion against the Ottoman
Empire, but it was the first successful one with foreign involvement. The Ottoman empire was
made up of a variety of people of different races and beliefs. After the Greek success, the
remaining people and Greeks in the Ottoman empire were inspired to make their own stand for
independence and many would succeed. Not only was the revolution important to Ottoman history,
but it was obviously important to the Greek s history as well. When King Otto was on the throne,
it was almost as if nothing had changed. He imposed the same high taxes just as the Ottoman
Empire (maybe even higher) and ruled as an absolute monarch. Based off the revolution, the chance
that the Greeks would keep still was close to none. They revolted in 1843 and forced him to sign a
new Constitution and instituted a constitutional monarchy. Eventually, he would prove to be a ruler
unfit of Greece and was deposed of. This also inspired more Greeks to be a part of politics. Besides
King Otto, one other problem layed in the failure to create a

Use Of Substitution Ciphers And Transposition Ciphers
Kaplan University
IT286
Unit 6
Jennifer Polisano
Question 6 1: Write a one half page description of the use of substitution ciphers and transposition
ciphers. Use the rot13 encoding algorithm to encode the following sentence: It is critical for
network administrators to understand cryptography.
There are several websites that will encrypt in rot13.
Answer 6 1: Substitution ciphers are a method of encryption by which units of plaintext are
substituted with ciphertext according to a regular system; the units may be single letters (the
most common), pairs of letters, triplets of letters, mixtures of the above, and so forth (WordNik,
2014). In other words, if you re sending a message (plaintext) you want to keep secret, it can be
transformed into an enciphered message (cipertext) using a different alphabet. The person
receiving the message will then have to decrypt it. Transposition cipers are simple data
encryption schemes in which plaintext characters are shifted in some regular pattern to form
ciphertext (Gustavus, 2014). In other words, it s a simpler way to send secret messages;
however, it isn t as secure and can be decrypted easily. For an example, I have encrypted the
following phrase using rot13 encryption: It is critical for network administrators to understand
cryptography. I was returned with: Vg vf pevgvpny sbe argjbex nqzvavfgengbef gb haqrefgnaq

Squids, an animal that lives in water, knowns as cephalopods. It also has a scientific name;

flying! Jet propulsion! It has another definition when it comes to an animal that lives in water but
it s original physical definition is the jet of matter passed by the thrust produced in the opposite
direction, to direction of movement. Furthermore, Newton s third law states that the motion of
body is propelled in the other direction of the jet. Jet propulsion occurs when the squid wants to

the jet. Looking back at history.. Back in 2012, NHK and Discovery channel took a footage
revealing a giant squid (fig.3) that s 8m long, which was not easily filmed because it was
captured at the depth of 630m in a sea near Ogasawara Islands. Researchers point out that it s
possible for a squid to length 10m approximately. Another aspect I also learned about is the
escape jet cycle of the squid, consisting of a cycle that starts with hyperinflation. Hyperinflation
refers to the outer diameter of the mantle wall, in which it increases by approximately 10%
compared to relaxed state and the volume of the cavity that goes up by 22%

Most breeds have specialties, but Airedale Terriers have a broad range of skills. They can hunt

also the first breed used as police dogs in both Great Britain and Germany, and in wartime, served
as guards and messengers. They were prized by both law enforcement and military because they
retained their training well and would work through harsh conditions and discomfort. The breed
was developed in Aire, England, probably from the English Terrier. Some experts feel the
Otterhound was crossed with the English Terrier to help create a waterproof coat and to add to the
first breed s hunting abilities. After the mid 1800s, the breed was known as the Working

Construction Equipment Leasing
Are you a small or medium sized construction contractor? Have you been wanting to take on larger
and more lucrative contracts, only to be thwarted by a lack of necessary equipment? It can be
frustrating when you lack the necessary resources to take on a particular contract, but this is
something that can be solved in a variety of ways. Here are some reasons why construction
equipment leasingcan be right for you:
Low initial investment: With some large pieces of equipment, you could be looking at spending
several hundred thousand dollars if you decide to purchase them. If your business is still relatively
small, you may be unable to secure a loan to help you purchase additional equipment. As a result,
cash outflow in that amount could mean the difference between your business doing okay while
growing or needing to lay off people for lack of funds. With construction equipment leasing, the up
front cost will be much lower. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, while it may sound good in theory to offer something like third story or higher gutter
cleaning and repairs, the reality may be that nobody in your area is interested in such a thing. If
you purchased a cherry picker to help you clean and repair those gutters, you d now be stuck with
the cost of the equipment. With construction equipment leasing of that same cherry picker, there is
no obligation to continue the lease once the initial term is up.
Always keep newer equipment: If you purchase all of your equipment, chances are that you ll be
stuck with an aging model for years until you can afford another purchase. On the other hand,
leasing construction equipment allows you to always have the latest model of equipment on hand.
You can set up your lease so that you can exchange your equipment for the latest model every year.
This can give your business a fresh and updated look, potentially attracting even more

Entrepreneurship Is The Search Of Chances Involving Major...
Entrepreneurship is the readiness to take risks and improve, establish and be able to a business
project in a modest world wide market that is continuously developing. Entrepreneurs are
innovators, leaders and creators. They are at the front of technical and communal actions in their
fields, in their advancing philosophy, in their wish to drive the cover. (Davidrubin, 2013).
Public and Private Mix
Private funding of care can create world wide power to care more comprehensive and wide ranging.
The probable combination at the point of facility provision confidentially attained privilege with the
public right, can impact, however, upon the objectives (e.g. enhanced well being, justice, price
control, care making proficiency, and customer satisfaction from service) of the publicly sustained
health system. A joint system may be certain, however, for both financial and politically aware
reasons, particularly where health assets are relatively rare. (Chernichovsky, 2000).
Relationship of entrepreneurship to change management
Entrepreneurship is the search of chances involving major threat, awareness to total changes, and
the progress of revolutions. Earlier studies have observed the matter of entrepreneurship in health
care organizations. The front runners need to be more entrepreneurial because of the difficulties in
the health care setting. Returning to changes in a practical manner wants a diverse kind of

Customs and Courtesies Essays
Marine Corps customs and courtesies are very important to the way the Marine Corps works.
They are intended to reinforce discipline and the chain of command, showing how Marines will
treat their superiors. They also enhance esprit de corps and unity. This is what makes the Marine
Corps the brotherhood that it has become. Military courtesies include correct forms of address
like; Sir, and Ma am, and when each should be used; the salute, and standing at attention, proper
wear of military covers, and the rules for behavior in different ceremonies. Specifics can change
depending on an individual s rank, location, and conditions. A military funeral, for example,
requires stricter etiquette than a normal day. Courtesies are sometimes relaxed... Show more content

But one thing they all have in common is they show the respect and honor the soldiers and
superiors have for one another. Military courtesies are often very similar to the civilities found
in the civilian world as well as daily life. The only difference is that it is mandatory for the
courtesies seen in the military to be adhered to and followed by its soldiers. If these courtesies
are not followed, the offending soldier can, and almost always will, be punished. This
punishment can come in the form of corrective training, known commonly as essays, extra duty
and can go as far as court martial, jail time and/or being discharged from the military. In the
military, manners and levels of respect help to identify the difference between junior to senior
ranking members. Courtesies and customs of the Army have been practiced for hundreds of
years. They involve a code of conduct that is mandatory for every member of the army to follow.
Some are obviously against the rules of professionalism such as public display of affection in
uniform, as is being intoxicated in uniform and exhibiting violent behavior are conducts that are
punishable in the military code of conduct. Others are unique codes of behavior that must to be
followed in order to present a one of a kind organizational structure to the military as these customs
and practices instill and show discipline and

Backpressure Based Adaptive Routing and Scheduling In...
Under high traffic conditions, this works very well, and backpressure is able to fully utilize the
available network resources in a highly dynamic fashion. Under low traffic conditions, however,
because many other nodes may also have a small or 0 queue size, there is inefficiency in terms of
an increase in delay, as packets may loop or take a long time to make their way to the destination.
This is particularly of concern in intermittent encounter based mobile networks which are already
delay limited due to the sparse and highly dynamic network connectivity. Such networks have
proposed the use of redundant transmissions to improve delay, which do not work well when the
traffic load is high.
Routing protocol, such as Spray and Wait, that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The additional transmissions incurred by BWAR due to the duplicates utilize available slots which
would otherwise go idle, in order to reduce the delay. Particularly for networks that are not energy
limited, this offers a more efficient way to utilize the available bandwidth during low load
conditions. In order to minimize the storage resource utilization of duplicate packets, ideally, these
duplicate packets should be removed from the network whenever a copy is delivered to the
destination. Since this may be difficult to implement (except in some kinds of networks with a
separate control plane), we also propose and evaluate a practical timeout mechanism for automatic
duplicate removal. Under high load conditions, because queues are rarely empty, duplicates are
rarely created, and BWAR effectively reverts to traditional backpressure and inherits its throughput
optimality property. By design, BWAR is highly robust and distributed and does not require prior
knowledge of locations, mobility patterns, and load conditions.
The duplicate queues are maintained and utilized as follows:
Original packets when transmitted are removed from the main queue; however, if the queue size is
lower than a certain threshold qth, then the transmitted packet is duplicated and kept in the duplicate
buffer associated with its destination if it is not full (otherwise no duplicate is created).
Duplicate packets are not removed from the duplicate buffer when transmitted. They

The Treasure Within the Money Pit on Oak Island
The Treasure Within There is a mystery that brings together the Holy Grail, a band of pirates,
William Shakespeare, and Franklin Delano Roosevelt. This mystery is the Money Pit located on
Oak Island. People have thrown millions of life savings hoping to get their hands on the treasure in
the Oak Island Money Pit, and all have met with failure. This pit has withstood two centuries of
people trying to discover the treasurewithin. I am certain there is treasure located in the Money Pit
on Oak Island. OakIsland is located off the shores of Nova Scotia, along Canada s Atlantic Coast.
It is one of three hundred and sixty islands around Mahone Bay. Rocks and sand skirt the
perimeter of the island while native forest and shrubbery cover most of its interior. It s about
200 meters from the shore of Nova Scotia and is approximately 140 acres. The discovery of Oak
Island s Money Pit begins in the summer of 1795 when a teenager named Daniel McGinnis saw
strange lights on an island offshore from his parent s house. He noticed an odd circular
depression roughly 13 ft. in diameter on the island s forest floor (The Last Great N. page). He
also saw that a good amount of oak trees around the recession had been cut down. McGinnis
decided to leave the island to ask for the help of his two friends, John Smith and Anthony Vaughan.
The next day, the three teenagers began excitedly digging on the curious site. They were so excited
because the unpopulated wilderness of the region provided

  • 2. Dehumanization Of Women In The Handmaids Tale To dehumanize someone is to strip them of everything that makes them human, all their good qualities, all their basic rights, everything that can label them an individual. Similarly, in Margaret Atwood s The Handmaid s Tale, the women in the Republic of Gilead are degraded in such a way that they are stripped of their previous selves. Women in Gilead are outfitted by their functions, forced to have sex and they, especially handmaids, are used as tools. In The Handmaid s Tale, Atwood utilizes motifs to further dehumanize the women of Gilead. To begin, the Republic of Gilead outfits women based on their function to strip them of their individuality. The process starts by colour coding women into easily identifiable class groups. This is seen when Offred makes her way to town, narrating the scene and drawing attention to the other women by saying, There are other women with baskets, some in red, some in the dull green of the Marthas (Atwood 27). Women in Gilead have been colour coded to be easily identifiable and known under their respective colours, completely erasing their identities. Furthermore, the colours they wear identify their sole purposes to society. When Offred first introduces Econowives she notes that ...the striped dresses, red and blue and green... Econowives, they re called. These women are not divided into functions. They have to do everything... (Atwood 27). The Econowives are the wives or the poorer men, wearing the medley of all three colours to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Evolution of Film Essay example In the early times of narrative cinema there was litter pressure on the filmmakers for the evolution of film forms before nickelodeons (Salt, 31) as cinema had not become a mass cultural product and film was still just a novelty expected to die out like rock n roll. And so the demand was low and so the supply could remain unoriginal. Mary Jane s Mishap was made in 1903 when multi scene films were becoming popular (Salt, 32). Mary Jane s Mishap is notable for its use of experimental and inventive shot transitions. It used a vertical wipe to instead of separate successive scenes (Salt, 32) (as it cuts to a shot width a wider frame of the same locale) but to change the zoom level. This frame is essentially an insert and borderline... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In big bold letter PARRAFIN the flammable oil. Without this shot the viewer would be perplexed as to why she exploded and allows the narrative to flow as it could be water or any other fluid for all they know as cleverly Smith used this mise en scene to explain the narrative instead of an intertitle before the explosion which would have removed all suspense, tension and mystery especially after she moved to the cameras to show her gesturing a bright idea. Though this close up could also be argued by Gunning of being of the cinema of attractions as For a time [in cinema] close ups were only used as an attraction to see an images but larger than life but inciting visual curiosity (Gunning, pg 58) rather being evolutionary towards narrative cinema. The close ups heighten the only [tool they] they have at their disposal, a language of gestures (Burch, 224) musser idea Mary Jane s Mishap combined the cinema of attraction trick film with the viewers want for narrative. The decline in their [trick films] commercial importance was already evident by 1906 (Salt, 40) Smith used a jump cut to create the illusion of Mary Jane exploding into smoke by subtracting her and adding smoke in the successive shot. He also uses superimposition to create a ghost liken creature. Like an avatar for its day. This shows narratives cinema still being influenced by the cinema of attractions as to make an entertaining film. The acting ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Understanding of Identity in Samuel P. Huntington s Clash... The word identity inspired many writers in our contemporary world, toarticulate their ideas and state their suggestions in a way to find a precise definition for such a word, especially where the globalization has become a fact which produces with it many effectual consequences. Some writers had linked Identity with the original cultureto which a person may belong, others dealt with it as a changing factor transformed according to every ones status, however a third category characterized the Identity from another angel in view of religious or ideological background. Huntington being one of the leading writers in this sphere has imagined a future world witnesses a clash of civilizations.According to his categorizationfrom a cultural perspective however; the world shall be divided into eight civilizations. This essay shall shed a light into the different understandings of theidentity and culture as in relation to Islam and the West having reference to different arguments and visions presented in the following scholarly sources. Samuel P. Huntington in his book The Clash of Civilizations has predicted that the source of conflict in the new world shall not be ideological or primarily economic, as the great divisions among humankind and dominating source of conflict shall be cultural.Although nation states will remain to be the most powerful actors in world affairs, yet the principal conflict of global politics will occur between nations and groups of different ... • 5. Standardized Terminologies In Nursing Practice Applying Standardized Terminologies in Practice Hyperhemesis gravidarum is a condition in which the pregnant woman experiences severe nausea and vomiting. Although the causes of hyperemesis gravidarum are not well known; however, many believe that elevated blood level of human chorionic gonadotopin (HCG) may be a contributing factor of this condition. Currently the cause of nausea and vomiting in pregnancy is unknown, although there is strong evidence linking human chorionic gonadotropin or estrogens as well as genetic susceptibility possibly mediated through the vestibuloocular reflex pathway (Fejzo et al., 2012). The following case scenario refers to a 22 weeks pregnant woman admitted to the labor and delivery unit with severe nausea... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Nursing terminologies also help nurses to plan care that reflects the patient s needs, anticipate these needs, and intervene accordingly. In addition, nursing informatics makes the use of standardized terminologies more important than ever because it allows differentiating the impact of nursing care from those of other disciplines. Thus, the standardization of nursing terminologies with documented nursing diagnoses, nursing interventions, and patient outcomes is important to nursing practice because it unifies the language among nurses and other healthcare providers, which will have a positive impact on the quality of ... • 6. Attending The A Homicide Trial I plan to attend the a homicide trial. I went by myself to Sonoma s Superior Court buildings the day before and asked a woman working which cases would be good to go to and she recommended I come in the next day to see a triple homicide trial on Mark Capello. I have never been to a court proceeding before, so I am not exactly sure what to expect. I am excited at the prospect of viewing a homicide case. Will it be like the court shows on television? I enjoy watching dateline, and in that show they actually play clips of real court trials that have occurred. However, they only show the most interesting parts for television. As the trail begins, I imagine that the bailiffs will ask all of us in the courtroom to rise as the judge and the jury come in. After we sit, I believe that the judge will be announced and a small introduction will be stated to refresh everyone s memories of what is going on most recently in the trail. As soon as that is done, I assume that we will dive right into the proceedings. To be honest, I am not really sure what will happen in the court room. It all depends on what point in the trial they are at. The defense attorney could be questioning someone. The prosecutor could be questioning somebody. Somebody could be testifying, whether it be a witness, an expert, or Mark Capello himself. For all I know, I could possibly see images from the crime scene. I know that the murders happened in early 2013, so they could be pretty far along in the trail. I simply plan on being present and trying to take good notes and absorb as much as I can for the two hours I am there. Part II At eight in the morning on March 18th, my classmate Hallie and I showed up at the Administration building to go see a criminal court proceeding. • 7. The Wilmington Race Riot Currently, there has been a major event occurring in the town of Wilmington, North Carolina between citizens of many races, and many political parties, including the Republican Party, Democratic Party, and the Populist Party. These parties had different political and racial views on government policies, and who should rule. Wilmington is a strong religious community, and is the center of African American political and economic success. After the end of the Civil War, laws allowed blacks to get an education and were able to manage their own businesses. Since the government created laws that allowed blacks to vote, there has been some controversy between whites and blacks. A major event occurred called the Fusion Coalition. When it was time to vote, people fused their voters and hoped to defeat the Democratic Party by doing this. Propaganda and media is put up all over town to intimidate people and make people believe certain things, based on what type of propaganda it is. People have started to fall for these propaganda posters, and it causes people to believe whatever they see. This sparked the current Race Riot because it actually led people to believe that blacks are bad and that they should not have a say. • 8. Call Of Duty Vs Snapchat The PR case study I have chosen to write about is from Prnewsonline.com , the article is called How Call of Duty Used Snapchat to Ignite its community. This case study talks about how the two companies teamed up to get Call of Duty players interested in Black Ops 3. Working together the duo was even able to win a 2015 PR News Digital PR Award. I chose this case study because I love playing video games and Call of Duty is one of my favorite games. Now Call of Duty and Snapchat are both majors companies, with too many people still focused on Black Ops 2 Call of Black Ops 3 was in trouble. While Snapchat is a growing company they were a perfect choice to help with the games demographic. Now every gamer loves hacks weather they admit it or not, the campaign team used that to their advantage. By appearing as a hack they knew it would gather more people s attentions. Public relations practitioners should be familiar with their organizations history (Swann 555). The Black Ops campaign does just this by using a hack that was disguised as a standard game update. • 12. And Then There Were None Murder Mystery Agatha Christie s novel, And Then There Were None, is widely considered to be a murder mystery. Although I agree with the genre of the novel, many people oppose that it s a murder mystery. Despite the fact that the novel clarifies who the murderer is in the epilogue, the murderer is a mystery throughout the course of the book. Agatha Christies novel is a murder mystery because the murderer is unknown, the novel includes mysterious deaths, and there is a crime to be solved. The murderer in And Then There Were none is unknown, which is a crucial aspect of a murder mystery. The visitors called this unknown murderer the unknown soldier, (Christie 96) because he was one of the ten visitors. Even though I suspected who the killer was out of the ten characters there, I always turned out to be wrong. After a lot of the guests started dying, the rest of them realized that they were being murdered indirectly to amuse the killer. The purpose of my study is to improve the safeguard of taxpayers data at the Internal Revenue Service. The U.S. attorney s office said in a news release today that Farrah Jones of Memphis, who was hired as a tax examining technician in 2001, used the data for returns she filed for herself and others. Prosecutors said Jones obtained dependent information from IRS files and used the data on tax returns she prepared, knowing that the taxpayers were not entitled to claim these dependents. Soon, she went into what my stepdad calls her manic, cantankerous stage. I suddenly realized that those teeth are a lot sharper than they look. I thought I was her favorite chew toy. Over the next 10 minutes, I realized her little secret. Beneath her angelic and sweet face, she had a demon inside. Those sharp little teeth seek out the most painful spot, or most ticklish spot, that they could find. Her bite was hard and fierce, for a puppy. Even though I knew she was playing, it hurt sometimes. She also hardly listens to any commands I try to give her, as I have become used to dog commands by way of my old dog or my dog at my dad s house. It boasts a vast geographic expanse, over 4000 years of written history, as well as a rich and profound traditional society. Many aspects of Chinese civilization can be traced back many centuries. It is so diverse and unique, yet harmoniously blended, and presents itself a priceless benefit to the world. One of the integral parts of Chinese culture that was not thoroughly discussed in class is the role Chinese women played in ancient traditional society and how it has transformed in the many historical changes is the way of life in china. I aim to speak on women in ancient times, women at the end of feudal society as well as the role of women in present day China. I chose this topic because I view women as the backbone to the development or a nation, therefore the Chinese woman is paramount in one of the world s great civilizations. The role of women in Chinese culture has changed over the years. When we consider the position that women held in ancient Chinese society we find that they have come a long way to be where they are today. The family structure has traditionally been the basic unit of Chinese society, where women have long been given the task of the continuation of the society s core values, in their roles as wives and mothers. While the expected values have evolved with time, from the imperial period to the Communist revolution to the modern day, this responsibility for women has ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As bodies dot the landscape, the spoils of war are going to the victors. Shields and armor taken from slain English soldiers will accompany us back home as proof of our victory. Finally as fate would have it, Harold of Wessex has fallen! Shot through the eye with an arrow, the accuracy given that archer must have been blessed to him by God himself. As Harold fell and his body hacked to ensure death, I realize my destiny is complete. The very crown Harold swore under oath to me is now mine via the blade of a Norman sword. • 17. Sex Workers And The Rights Of Human Trafficking And Human... When you hear about human trafficking, most people do not think about it going on their own backyard. At the same time, there is the occasional news story about prostitution, in one way or another. Although the deeper problems underlying the two topics are rarely spoken about in a public forum, the relationship between the two are incredibly important in the protection of trafficking victims and the preservation of rights of legitimate sex workers. The sex workers rights movement is important in understanding the position sex workers have as workers and members of a community tainted by illegal trafficking. Human sex trafficking is the movement of people, by force, into the sex trade, or other forced labor. Yes, sex workers should have their profession considered as a legitimate sector. Yes, human sex trafficking should be stopped. While both of those things are true it is important to consider all aspects of both to form a movement directed at the two, rather than focus on strictly one or the other. A movement that is geared towards creating an even ground between the rights of individuals to use their sexuality to make an honest living, and the protection of individuals from the exploitation of that very same sexuality, is pivotal in the continuation of protecting human rights across the globe. By examining how several, very different, countries deal with sex work and human trafficking, we can attempt to understand how we can move forward with a new more complex ... Since Amelia Earhart s disappearance, theories were developed trying to explain what was taken into effect, after there was no response from her in the Pacific ocean. Some either believe that Japanese troops kidnapped her, she died as a castaway, or that Earhart lived under another identity. In the end, Amelia Earhartdid survive her attempted voyage around the world. Earhart s mysterious disappearance lead to different theories. One of those theories is that the Japanese kidnapped Amelia Earhart and her navigator Noonan, holding them captive. Earhart and Noonan were making a stop on Howland island, but before they arrived they lost connection with the U.S. Coast Guard. Years later, a picture was discovered in the U.S. National Archives displaying what is supposed Earhart and Noonan near Japanese troops. Along with the two missing people in the photograph, parts of plane were behind them. An American spy took the picture. An article in: Kent Gibson, a facial recognition expert, who studied the photo, said in the History Channel special that it s very convincing evidence that the photo is of Noonan. The hairline is the most distinctive characteristic, Gibson said. It s a very sharp receding hairline. The nose is very prominent. The Analytical Effectiveness Of The Assessment As I reflect about the various assessments I utilized for my project, I have mixed feelings about the evaluative effectiveness of the assessments. When I began examine Jen s formal assessments results (such as, Running Records, BY and EY Benchmarks, Sound Identification /Sigh Word Inventory forms), I believed the assessments would accurately demonstrate a positive progress Jen had made during the course of the year. What I discovered was both an intended and unintended consequence of assessment use. On the one hand, I found the assessments to be useful tools to gauge student literacy abilities. On the other hand, I believe that the focus on assessment led to the teacher developing a deficit mindset with Jen. Often times Jen s teacher narrowly would focus on Jen s inability to be at grade level or lack of drastic improvement. In fact, the only thought Jen s teacher had was on the fact that Jen did not meet the expected reading level for the end of the year for K 2. I believe if teachers rely too much on assessment scores limits their ability to understand external factors or barriers that influence a child s literacy. McKenna and Picard (2007) discuss the importance for teachers to view students word miscue analysis beyond the checks on paper and formulas. • 27. The Tempest By William Shakespeare Brown s insistence that The Tempest is a play of steeped in ambivalence and contradictions is not entirely unfounded, however. Prospero himself is an extremely powerful magus whose power borders on the transcendent and divine; he is also a man obsessed with perfecting his art that, at times, can be base and wicked. He demonstrates compassion and generosity, yet his apathetic and sometimes contemptuous treatment of other characters raises questions about his moral sensibilities. Within the drama of the play, these paradoxes create a dynamic that highlights the contrast between Prosperoand those who (seek to) foil him Stephano, Trinculo, and Caliban characters that Brown demarcates as masterless or othered (273). While he correctly identifies such instances of doubling, Brown conflates these binaries as markers of colonial discourse, the colonizer and the colonized, and entirely elides the binary of the noble and the natural. This dichotomy, which is staunchly embedded in the Renaissance conception of natural order the great chain of beingis eminent throughout the play and integral to its thematic purpose of restoration and redemption. Brown s failure to address the great chain of being in any capacity throughout his argument is indicative of his limited understanding of the historical context in which The Tempest was written and the corresponding philosophical ideology that informed Shakespeare s manifold intentions. Firstly, a definition of child labour will be provided after which an introductory overview will be given about the ILO s activities against child labour. Thereafter, a critical assessment will be provided regarding the ILO s steps against child labour, and some major problems will be highlighted regarding the ILO s approach to eliminate child labour. Defining Child Labour Mowing the lawn, washing the car and dishes, or cleaning the kitchen are the types of tasks that most children dislike to do. However, tasks such as these are not defined as child labour. Generally speaking, child labour is defined as something along the lines of: Labour that exploits children and restricts their mental and physical development , and thus household chores, in most cases, cannot be considered to be a form of child labour. However, labour that is not appropriate for children, such as working with dangerous machinery, mining, or work that exposes children to sexual abuse, can be defined as child labour. This is due to the fact that, in situations like the ones described, children are exposed to exploitation and to circumstances that are detrimental to their physical and mental health. That being said, labour in itself is not considered to be necessarily a bad thing for children, since it can provide them with many learning opportunities. For example, ... • 36. David Hume s Definition Of Free Will What is free will? The general concept of free will is the ability to make choices of your own without anyone or anything impeding them which, consequently, makes you morally responsible. Free will, however, is non existent. This is explained with the theory of determinism and solidified via hard determinism. Our actions and behavior can be traced to our desires and beliefs which are directly caused by our genetics and environment. There are many stances and arguments against this idea but ultimately do not dissuade against it. There are many beliefs as to what free will is, and many have tried to establish its meaning. David Hume believes it is the ability to act on your beliefs and desires and as your beliefs and desires change, so does your behavior. The problem with Hume s definition is that those with compulsory disorders and addictions have free will according to that definition. Harry Frankfurt believes that if first and second order desires are in agreement then you have free will. The problem with Frankfurt s definition is that the addicts that do not have a conflicting order of desires have free will according to the definition and those who are weak willed do not have free will. The general explanation of free will discussed in the introduction is what will be used, seeing that the ones explained have their obvious... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 37. Dante And The Nature Of Sin Dante and the Nature of Sin Often, we cannot see the good until we have experienced the bad. Dante Alighieri, a poet who makes himself the main character in his Divine Comedy, finds himself lost in a dark wood at the start of The Inferno. Though he sees a safe path out of the wood towards an alluring light, he is forced to take an alternate route through an even darker place. As the ending of the pilgrim Dante s voyage is bright and hopeful, Alighieri the poet aims to encourage even the most sinful Christians to hope for a successful end. Thus, Dante the pilgrim goes to hell in The Inferno to better understand the nature of sin and its consequences in order to move closer to salvation; his journey an allegory representing that of the repenting Christian soul. Before Virgil arrives to guide Dante on his journey, Dante shares that he doesn t recall how he lost his way. He tells How I entered [the dark wood] I cannot truly say, I had become so sleepy at the moment when I first strayed, leaving the path of truth (Inferno I.10 12). Because he strayed from the holy path, Dante finds himself lost and trying to find his way back on the right track. Dante s ultimate goal is to to free himself from the dark wood of confusion and chaos. Looking up from the wood, Dante sees the hilltop shawled in morning rays of light sent from the planet that leads men straight ahead on every road (Inferno I.16 18). • 38. The Impact Of The Trail Of Tears Native Americans Indians faced numerous challenges to their survival as people on their own lands in the eighteenth century. The Indians found themselves under severe pressure by settlers and speculators in the new nation interested in expanding east and westward of North America, either by acquiring Indian lands by treaty or by force. The American people at the time viewed Native Americans as uncivilized and savage. In May of 1830, Congress passed The Indian Removal Act, headed by President Andrew Jackson[3]. Even Thomas Jefferson, who often cited the Great Law of Peace of the Iroquois Confederacy as the model for the U.S. Constitution, supported Indian Removal as early as 1802[5]. Its main goal was the removal of the southeastern Indian tribes. Jackson convinced the American Indians that with whites surrounding the Indian, their culture was slowly being destroyed. It was the Native American who suffered most from Andrew Jackson s vision of America. With all this in mind the Indian Removal act was inhuman and in no doubt it should ve been done differently. This journey of the removal was called the Trail of Tears, and this paper will show the effect it had on the Cherokee. The native people of the North America lived for hundreds of years in peace. However, in 1540 the everyday lives of the Native Americans came to an alarming halt. It was in that year that Hernando de Soto came in contact with the native people of North America[1]. Christmas Descriptive Writing On that momentous Christmas Eve of 2013, daubs of ashen grays, splattered specks of lapis, careless streaks of pale lavender, and muted, chalky whites were smeared across the blank canvas sky, barely concealing the cold, distant stars. The sliver of the moon that was shaped as though it were a narrow, shining claw, was tied to the edge of a low hanging cloud with a thin, wisp of a string. Millions of the beautiful feathery, ice crystals were brutally thrown toward the Earth, onto the frosted, dead grass, where they joined their companions in a heap of broken, mangled snowflakes. • 41. Marine Marcoalgaes Lab Report Photosynthesis of marine marcoalgaes split into 2 processes; light reaction (photochemical reaction which is affected by concentration of the chlorophyll and irradiance) and the dark reaction (chemical process, where temperature and concentration of the substrate influence on). However between those two reactions, there is an intermediates metabolic process, where NADPH and ATP are produced. The amount of produced NADPH and ATP depends upon light limitation, which later results of dark reaction sufficiency. In photosynthesispigments function is to absorb the light energy as photons. They are localized in the light harvesting antenna protein pigment (LHC) in thylakoid membraines of the chloroplast. (Dring, 1992) Bladders wrack contain wide... This transfer is possible due to a fact that chlorophyll a among all other pigments have the possibility to absorb at the longest wavelength. Moreover its excitation cost less energy. In the year 2000, 61% of all married women over age 16 in the US were in the workforce, compared to just 41% in 1970 (US Census Bureau, 2001); More employees are now engaged in a dual earner lifestyle where both partners work and share responsibility for family care giving (Greenhaus et al., 2000). In fact, recent research indicates that 85% of employees report having some day to day family responsibilities (Bond et al., 1998). These changing demographic trends, coupled with greater family involvement by men (Pleck, 1985) and heightened interest of employers in employee s quality of life (Zedeck Mosier, 1990) prompted a proliferation of research on the relationship between work and family roles. Interest and concern in the interface between work and non work life, especially family life. Numerous scholars (e.g. O Driscoll, 1996; Edwards Rothbard, 2000; Frone, 2003; Grzywacz Marks, 2000) have observed that changing social demographics, altering family role expectations, shifting family structure, aging workforce, as well as recent technological developments, increasing globalization, and international business competitiveness have contributed to a blurring of boundaries between the domains of employment and family and to greater permeability between these domains. In each account the reader is presented with historically accurate information of what went down, although he does sometimes slip a stray opinion in; however, this is to be expected in a book where the author is focusing on the cruelty of humans towards each other. McMurtry explains that it was not just a one sided battle with Settlers attacking the Native Americans; both groups had their share of bouts against each other, and they both constantly tried to preemptively strike. It is made evident through some of the author s comments that although a lot of the Native Americans were able to get along peacefully together for years and that the majority of tribes were peaceful (with the exception of a few, of course), the white man invading their sacred land, destroying everything in their path, and raping and killing their women and children was an infuriating blow to nearly every tribe on the land; I think this would set just about anyone off. • 44. The Anna Karenina Principle The Anna Karenina principle is important because it explains a feature of animal domestication that had heavy consequences for human history. Specifically how suitable big wild mammals were never domesticated and most domesticated animals are Eurasian. The Anna Karenina principle directly applies to domesticating animals because to be domesticated, a species must possess many different characteristics, as there must be many characteristics of happiness in the principle. Diamond states that lack of any characteristic dooms efforts at domestication. The Anna Karenina principle applies directly to the domestication of animals, making it relevant in understanding why some wild animals were not domesticated. By comparing mutations, one can see that a crop was independently domesticated in separate areas. This is suggested if a crop includes two or more alternative wild variants, or mutations. It is suggested because if the same crop has many different variants, it inherited one particular mutation from one area and the other mutation was inherited from a different area. This information is important to tracing the spread of agriculture because it can suggest that a crop spread very quickly to the surrounding area (one mutation), preventing the need of independently growing the crop elsewhere. On the other hand, it can also suggest that a crop spread too slow to prevent its independent domestication elsewhere. Civilization led to epidemic because as people started to ... Next, with one part of the population of Greeks independent, they needed to figure out what their relationship was with all of the Greek nation. In response, they made a policy in which all Greeks were unified. Onto the long term effects, the revolt is a crucial in Ottoman history because it started a wave of rebellions against them eventually leading to their demise and the creation of new Mediterranean states. The Greek revolution was in no way the first rebellion against the Ottoman Empire, but it was the first successful one with foreign involvement. After the Greek success, the remaining people and Greeks in the Ottoman empire were inspired to make their own stand for independence and many would succeed. He imposed the same high taxes just as the Ottoman Empire (maybe even higher) and ruled as an absolute monarch. Based off the revolution, the chance that the Greeks would keep still was close to none. They revolted in 1843 and forced him to sign a new Constitution and instituted a constitutional monarchy. Use Of Substitution Ciphers And Transposition Ciphers Kaplan University IT286 Unit 6 Jennifer Polisano Question 6 1: Write a one half page description of the use of substitution ciphers and transposition ciphers. Use the rot13 encoding algorithm to encode the following sentence: It is critical for network administrators to understand cryptography. There are several websites that will encrypt in rot13. Answer 6 1: Substitution ciphers are a method of encryption by which units of plaintext are substituted with ciphertext according to a regular system; the units may be single letters (the most common), pairs of letters, triplets of letters, mixtures of the above, and so forth (WordNik, 2014). In other words, if you re sending a message (plaintext) you want to keep secret, it can be transformed into an enciphered message (cipertext) using a different alphabet. The person receiving the message will then have to decrypt it. Transposition cipers are simple data encryption schemes in which plaintext characters are shifted in some regular pattern to form ciphertext (Gustavus, 2014). In other words, it s a simpler way to send secret messages; however, it isn t as secure and can be decrypted easily. Under low traffic conditions, however, because many other nodes may also have a small or 0 queue size, there is inefficiency in terms of an increase in delay, as packets may loop or take a long time to make their way to the destination. This is particularly of concern in intermittent encounter based mobile networks which are already delay limited due to the sparse and highly dynamic network connectivity.
