Nature Or Nurture Is The Cause For Criminal Behavior
No one can be certain whether nature or nurture is the cause for criminal behavior. However, research
has stated that it is more often an interaction between genes and the environment that predicts criminal
behavior (Jones, 2005). Through a biological perspective, it is determined that criminal behavior is
due to genetics and/or neurological conducts. It concludes that criminals are born due to their criminal
traits being passed down through genetic or chromosomal mutation. Another explanation of criminal
behavior within the biological perspective are the neurochemicals within our brains and body. There
many regulated chemicals in the brain that determines thought process, perception and action. Like the
arguments for genetic and chromosomal mutation, any abnormal anomalies or chemical imbalance can
heavily impact behavior (Schram, 2018). This goes for any damages to some parts of the brain that
controls emotions, reason and logic. Problems with the biological perspective are the following: 1. It
provide little explanations for a small of minority of offenders with specific conditions (Levitt, 2013).
2. Disregard the effect of environmental influences and life experiences that also impact behavior. 3.
Since criminality is based on biology, it is unchangeable, therefore, no one is to be blamed for their
actions. Lastly, 4. Famous studies on biological factors of criminality (ex: the twin, family and
adoption studies) maintained an intertwined relationship with social

John Maynard Keynes And The First World War
Introduction
Since the industrial revolution in the 1800s, the European economy changed for the first time. John
Maynard Keynes, a well known English economist, was a member of the British delegation to the
peace conference in Versailles in 1918. He offered an opinion in which would cause the reparation
against Germany to have negative economic consequences for Germany and Europe as a whole. [cite
text pg 341]. This paper will discuss in depth the life and approach John Maynard Keynes used when
analyzing the Treaty of Versailles. To do this, one must consider the effect of the First World War and
the imposed reparations on the German economy and the European economy as a whole, as well as
the effect on the United States economy, as they issued ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By 1914 all the European Powers had elected lower houses of parliament, and a majority of the adult
male population was enfranchised. The press was relatively free, and citizens could form parties and
pressure groups. Prior to the 19th century, most European citizens were under complete ruling of a
king or queen, meaning they have final say over any and all political, financial, legal, and economic
decisions. With the democratization of Europe, citizens could now participate in important political
decisions, which in turn, makes the European economy much more vulnerable. Democratization of
Europe makes the European economy more vulnerable because a king/queen makes economical
decisions based solely to make themselves more wealthy while furthering the nation. On the other
hand, a political leader who makes economical decisions to satisfy the needs of citizens, keeping the
future and wealth of the nation as a lower priority. Also, a king/queen is more likely to be more
experienced and might have more attachment to important decisions, due to the fact that they are
taking over the role of the rulings of a previous family member in the country. They also make
decisions that impact the nation long term, rather than just for the amount of time for which they are in
power. Alternatively, in the consideration of democratic leaders, there generally is a lot of leaders to
make decisions for the country, allowing

Hitler s Propaganda
Part I: What I Know
I have chosen to write about the reason the German people accepted Hitler s ideology. The German
people allowed the Nazi party take power of Germany. They could have rejected the Nazi party and
the holocaust would have never happened. Millions of Jews were targeted and killed by the infamous
Nazis in an attempt to exterminate them. The German youth were as well as taken in to the ideas of
Nazism and helped spread Hitler s anti Semitic ideas. The German people allowed themselves to
construct death camps for the Jews. They violated so many laws against humanity with their horrible
experiments and torture. They forced the Jews to work for the Nazi ... Show more content on

In the article By The History Place Adolf Hitler blamed the Jewish people for the loss of World War II.
He used many tactics to persuade public opinion to favor his anti Semitic ideas. The tough conditions
placed on the German people caused by the loss of World War II left many bitter. The German people
became desperate for a solution to solve the economic depression. Hitler used this to his advantage by
promising people change in the country. Hitler promised to make the country into a superpower by
exterminating the Jewish people (The History Place).
Hitler insisted that the Aryan race was descended to become a master race that had the right to govern
the world. He as well as told the public that the Jews wanted to keep the German people from
assuming its rightful position as rulers of the world (The History Place). He used TV, radio,
Newspapers, and movies to spread Nazi ideology throughout Germany. He put into effect laws that
demoralized Jews which helped put in place that the Jews were nothing more than an animal. This
huge amount of propaganda combined with the aftermath of World War I caused the Nazi party and
their ideas to take flourish (The History

Single Mothers in America Essays
In today s society it is not unusual to have a one parent family with a young mother in charge. Teen
mothers having children has increased so much over the years that it s now a common occurance.
Being a young single mother in today s society is challenging but with the help of government
assistance single mothers are finding their way.
The government provides help for single mothers through a variety of welfare programs. Welfare
programs provide benefits to single mothers with low income income so low that it is not possible to
support a family.
Welfare helps with all childcare needs. They give the young mother food stamps for shopping at the
grocery store and earned income tax credit. They play a big roll in helping these young ... Show more

Or girls may even grow up to hate men because of unconscious resentment toward absent fathers.
A study has shown that these young mothers are struggling with their time and availability for their
child and their needs. This study has come to conclude that single mothers usually spend only 3.4
hours with their children. These mothers spend most of their time with work, school, yard work, and
housecleaning.
Leigh Thawley a twenty three year old mother of a 4 month of child says I feel like I have so many
things to do in such little time and not enough time to even watch my child grow. Another major thing
that affects time with their children is They feel the need to look good so they spend a lot of time
fixing themselves so they can feel pretty and attract men. (D Amato) I try hard to put my child ahead
of myself but it is hard to because all I ve ever had to do was worry about myself and I m still so
young that I don t really know how put me last said Thawley.
In addition to problems of availability, mothers experience financial troubles with their children. In a
suburb in Denver young mothers are having not choice but to move away to be able to get affordable
housing. In moving away to get affordable housing these mothers and children are being away from
family and putting more where and tear on their cars which is going to end up costing them in the long
run. In 2000, Boulder County 25% live in single parent

Example Of Transcendentalism In Peanuts
Peanuts is a comic strip that ran from the 1950 s to the 2000 s. It s focused around a depressed and
meek boy named Charlie Brown. The comics tell the story of him, his friends, and all of their
adventures. While the comic strip ended in the 2000 s the world of Charlie Brown still lives on to this
day. Around 120 years before the world of Charlie Brown, the philosophical movement of
transcendentalism appeared. It emphasized the spirit and one s own individuality. Even though it came
out a significant amount of time in the past, transcendentalism is still apparent in the modern world.
Peanuts is a modern day example of transcendentalism in the way it represents character s own
confidence and free thought. One of the characteristics of transcendentalism is confidence. A character
in Peanuts who is a prime example of confidence is Lucy Van Pelt. For instance, in one of the comics
written by Charles Schulz, when Lucy says that she has a knack for seeing other people s faults, Linus
asks her about her own faults she responds that she has a knack for overlooking them and then when
Charlie Brown says to Lucy, Sometimes you really astound me. I ve never known anyone who was so
consistently crabby! How do you explain that? she answers, Never change a winning game! Lucy is a
very sarcastic character and she stands by the way that she goes about life. She has an amazing
amount of self confidence and she doesn t let anyone else get to her because she believes strongly in
her actions. She s a strong example of confidence in transcendentalism because of how much she
believes in herself and stands by her actions. Also, in A Charlie Brown Christmas the story revolves
around the idea that Charlie Brown doesn t believe that the over commercialized Christmas that they
all celebrate is the real meaning of Christmas. Then when he s asked to go get a big and over the top
Christmas tree for the play, he grabs a small and neglected tree because he sees the potential in it and
he feels like it s his job to give it a home. When all of his friends make fun of him and tell him that he
s stupid he gets depressed, but he doesn t lose his confidence that that isn t what Christmas is all
about. After Linus reads a passage of the bible

Analysis Of The Poem Charge Of The Light Brigade And ...
While both Alfred Lord Tennyson and Wilfred Owen describe war in great detail in their works
Charge of the Light Brigade and Dulce Et Decorum Est, respectively, Tennyson describes the courage
and honor of warfare, whereas Owen goes into more detail about the horrors and atrocities that go
hand in hand with war. Tennyson describes a battle in which 600 bold and courageous men storm a
valley, which he refers to as the Valley of Death (line 7), to meet their almost inevitable death. Owen
in his Dulce et Decorum Est, describes a scene from World War I in which soldiers are bombarded
with gas shells. In this essay I will argue that despite their differing subjects and themes, both
Tennyson and Owen s work prove that the honor and courage of the soldiers comes directly from the
hardships they must endure. The fact that the men knew the dangers of fighting the battle and knew
that they were facing death is the factor in which Tennyson draws the theme of courage. In line 23, he
states: Boldly they rode and well, into the Jaws of Death (lines 23 4). In order to describe the
experience of war throughout his work, Alfred Lord Tennyson describes the courage of the 600 men
who rode into the Jaws of Death, to fight for victory even though they were facing inevitable death.
Although they fight valiantly, they are eventually ransacked by the gun fire of their opposition. The
600 are forced to retreat back from the valley, where even more men are killed. Also, by using the

Louise Symbolism In The Story Of An Hour
Within the tear jerking short story, The Story of an Hour by Kate Chopin, Kate Chopin offers insight
on the ongoing battle of the main character and her loss of her husband. In the beginning of the story,
Louise Mallard has to be informed about her husband s death. Since Louise suffers from heart trouble,
her sister, Josephine, must inform her in a cautious manner. Brently, was announced dead by a local
newspaper in which Brently has died due to a railroad disaster. Louise is perched against an open
window in which she studies the outside environment closely. She begins to cry simultaneously trying
to keep her emotions within. She soon repeats free! numerous amounts of times. Louise imagines
seeing her husband s corpse and began to imagine ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Louise then exclaims, free, free, free! when she was told about the news of her husband s death
(Chopin 13). Louise exclaims free multiple times because this is essentially her hidden feeling towards
her husband s death, free. In direct correlation to Louise repetition of free, she sits near a window in
which symbolizes her underlying feelings towards the oppressiveness of marriage. After all the time
she stared out the window, now there was a dull stare in her eyes, whose gaze was fixed away off
yonder on one of those patches of blue sky. It was not a glance of reflection, but rather indicated a
suspension of intelligent thought (Chopin 13). Louise undergoes a change in mindset in which she
suddenly realizes the freedom she received over Brently s death. The window is a symbol to her
freedom, in which she enlightens herself after a few moments of thought.
Lastly, irony plays a role in Louise s sudden death. The irony begins when Louise breathed a quick
prayer that life might be long. It was only yesterday she had thought with a shudder that life might be
long (Chopin 14). The death of Brently poured the negative influences in Louise s mind. She believed
that her life was going to be long and dull when she was informed. Eventually, the doctors came they
said she had died of heart disease of joy that kills (Chopin 14). Shortly after she thought

Animal Domestication History
Looking back at the history of animal domestication, dogs were the one of the first animals to be
victimized. Evidence dates back to about 15,000 years ago. Even in the early ages, dogs were deemed
as sincere guardians and hunters. They have played a vital role in the history of warfare starting from
ancient times.
Dogs were used by Egyptians, Persians, Slavs, Romans and Greeks. The Molossus dog was thought to
be the most powerful dog by the Romans and underwent intense training for war. The Romans and
Greeks exploited dogs for the purpose of defense. During the Late Antuquity, Atilla the Hun used
Molosser dogs. The Spanish conquerors of Mexico and Peru in the 16th century used armored dogs
who were skilled to kill the locals. Dogs were also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The hind legs are firm and bulky whereas the front legs are relaxed and flexible. This permits faster
and longer strides while maintaining stability. The claws attached to their feet help them to gain speed
and have a firm grip on the ground. War dogs have a sharp sense of hearing which can go up to as far
as 35,000 hertz. One of the essential qualities that dogs have is their loyalty. They are always
defending and protecting their handlers. Working dogs possess the ability to detect change in the
environment and react to it accordingly. The are able to detect those changes that human beings are
unable to, making them more efficient and reliable. They are trained to act as an alarm for any sort of
incoming danger. Patrol dogs are aggressive dogs that attack the provoker and relentlessly bark to
warn the people nearby. Explosive dogs have an acute sense of smell and hence are trained to
differentiate between the various explosives and drugs. The tradition of use of military dogs is still
alive in the modern world. As of 2011, 600 police dogs took part in the war in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Yeats And The Salley Garden Essay
They (the great writers) were national first ... and it was the intensity of their own nationalism which
made them international. (Power 65) As Maud Gonne said without Yeats there would have been no
Literary Revival in Ireland. Without the inspiration of that revival and glorification of beauty and
heroic virtue I doubt there would have been an Easter week (24). Yeats was born in 1865 near Dublin
in Ireland and through his literary work contributed in the cultural nationalism of Ireland. He imagined
an Ireland that took shape as modern Ireland. He tried to unify the nation by substituting religious
beliefs of the sectarian and class loyalties with the nationalistic sentiment. He tried to define the
importance of love and death in nationalism. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Yeats edited by John P. Frayne. To define Irish literature, the first article begins thus:
Some of my countrymen include among (sic) national writers born in Ireland but I prefer, though it
greatly takes from the importance of our literature, to include and of Irish subjects, when once a
country was given perfect expression to itself in literature, has carried to maturity its literary tradition,
its writers, no matter what they write of, carry its influence with them, just as Carlyle remained a
Scotsman when he wrote of German kings or French, and Shakespeare an Elizabethan Englishman
when he told of Coriolanus or Cressida. (Frayne 360) In his youth he excluded Swift, Sterne, Burke
and Berkeley from his list of Irish tradition but afterward he declared them as his predecessors. He
favoured genuine literature but was against any kind of propaganda. He excluded Thomas Moore,
Thomas Davis and John Mitchel inspite of the presence of nationalism in their poetry because they
used English method in their poetry and did not contributed in enriching Irish literary tradition. He
praised Callanan for developing a new kind of verse with its source from the Irish tradition. The poets
who contributed in enriching Irish tradition were Aubrey De Vere, William Allingham, Clarence
Mangan and Sir Samuel

Being A Stay At Home Mom
Before we began to build our family, my husband and I were both working full time jobs at an
upwards of 60 hours a week. This was practical at the time, but I knew I could not continue to do so
with an infant. This led me to leave my job of 3 years just before giving birth. After a few months, I
debated long and hard on returning to work. After very careful consideration, I decided the best thing
to do for everyone would be for me to stay home. I knew that being a stay at home mom would be
hard. More importantly, I also knew that my daughter needed me to be there for her. It helped me learn
that the plan you may have for yourself may not be the best plan for everyone else; being able to
compromise for loved ones is always important. When I got married, I was working as a federal
contractor for a company that conducted background investigations. The days were very long, some at
10 hours, most at 12. My husband worked at the same company, so we were on the same schedule.
This worked well for us, but as we started to discuss building our family, I began to wonder if this
would be practical. I did not mind working so much, but knew having a baby would change a lot.
Once I became pregnant, it slowly became evident I could not continue such crazy schedules. I moved
to part time status shortly after, and ultimately left my job just months before having our daughter. I
gave birth to my daughter on November 8, 2014. After 20 hours of labor, she failed to progress further

Theory and the Nursing Process The theoretical basis for public and community nurses began in the
nineteenth century with Florence Nightingale. Nightingale believed in the prevention and surveillance
of diseases. She further believed that a disease was more prevalent in poor environments. She proved
that good health was more prevalent with a good environment for instance providing adequate
ventilation, clean water, warmth, light, and cleanliness during the Crimean War (Allender, Rector,

The two theories the Nightingale and the Knowles are an example of the integration of the nursing and
education discipline to promote a health community and protect the population from illness,
communicable diseases, injury, and death. The challenges are great but obtainable.
The use of the survey by the community and public health nurses to identify problems and develop a
plan of action. The development of education programs by employing the Knowles principles to reach
out to the adult learner.
The mission of community and public health nursing is related back to the work of Florence
Nightingale. Her observation that good environment leads to good health and bad environment leads
to bad health.

Goodbye To All That Joan Didon Summary
Time, memory, and youth all fade away, but can bee preserved through writing. Joan Didon s essay
Goodbye to all that, This is an essay about the ending of the author s youth, into adulthood. Joan
Didon is writing from her point as an adult, looking back into her twenties, while she was in the city
of New York. She romantically writes about the city of New York, as a paradise for people in their
twenties. New York is a city filled with adventure, and she is thankful for her time that she had spent
in the city. Joan Didon was a young, idealistic writer, searching for an audience in the city of New
York. She recalls her experience as a struggle, but also a fun time in her life, which helped her find
herself, and in the end she found her husband as well. The city is notorious fast. It draws in people
who are dreamers. These are people who are ambitious. The can be very poor or very wealthy. Didon s
depiction of New York illustrates people who are professional, hustlers, as well the people who are
searching for a start in the city. It is not a place for people who are settled in their life or people who
are at the end of their life. I want to explain to you, and in the process perhaps myself, why I no longer
live in New York. It is often said that New York is a city for only the very rich and the very poor. It is
less often said that New York is also, at least for those of us who came there from somewhere else,
came city for only the very young. (Didon, P. 226) I

Go Show Critique
To Go Show 1
There were five performances at this To Go Show. All were amazing, but I will focus on just one for
this critique, I will be talking about my favorite performance. The first one was Conformity vs
Nonconformity (No comfort zone) By Deseree Hook in collaboration with Uriah Huffman. This dance
was about how everything you want lies behind a wall of fear. Power: The Contraction of visibility by
Meredith Yuhas with the dancers Taylor Dumdei, Rekha Letsinger, Ashley French, Naja Copeland,
Demery Trantham, Destiny Smith, Uriah Huffman, and Lydia Ray; This piece was about how people

scale. The levels in this dance were from what I can remember mostly high levels because they were
all standing up. The general place of this dance was upstage. The relationship between the dancers
were at times connected but also at times alone.
The overall time and energy of the dance is what I will be discussing next. The time of the piece, it
seemed to have a certain pulse to start with. The beat of the music gave the dancers a pulse to listen

Health Benefits Of A Free Diet
Many people say they are going Gluten Free . This means that the person is transitioning to a diet
where they do not eat gluten. By doing this, they are excluding wheat, barley, rye and possibly oats
from their diet. Gluten is a protein that is not crucial to being an overall healthy person. (4) The Gluten
Free Diet was created for those who have medical reasons to not eat gluten. Medical reasons could be
celiac disease, wheat allergies, gluten sensitivity, dermatitis herpetiformis, ataxia and other
neurological manifestations, irritable bowel syndrome, and using gluten to treat autism. (4) However,
the diet is being used by those who do not have a practical medical reason to be practicing this diet.
The Gluten Free Diet rose in popularity when some research was introduced, that is still being
continued, that questioned the health effects of not eating gluten. This argued that humans were never
meant to properly digest gluten and naming the health benefits to adopting a Gluten Free Diet. In the
past decade, the fame of the diet has increased significantly. The perception of the diet has shifted
from being associated to eating rice cakes that tasted like Styrofoam and were very dry to the current
Gluten Free Diet that is alleged to being tasty and healthy. With this perception change, the sales
increased and the business boomed into a $1 billion dollar business and continues to grow. (4)

country because I want to be able to research and learn more about their religion, culture, etc. A recent
problem in Ireland is Ireland is asking unemployed citizens to move away. The Irish government is
sending letters to almost 6,000 unemployed people, asking them to take jobs in other countries.
Although the Irish government is sending these letters, no one is being forced to leave the country.
This topic has intreged me and wanting to research more on this country.

In my essay I will discuss whether Jean Jacques Rousseau s The Social Contract signals the advent of
modern democratic republicanism or whether it represents a dangerous recipe for the suppressing of
individual liberty. I will begin my essay by briefly explaining what is meant by modern democratic
republicanism and individual liberty. I will then give a detailed account of Rousseau s Social Contract
Theory and discuss what he means when he talks about general will . Furthermore, I will talk about
his concepts on a sovereign, the law giver and his civil religion. I will discuss why he can sometimes
be viewed as an advocate of totalitarianism rather than one of democratic republicanism. I will briefly
mention why his work can be viewed as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His Social Contract begins with the renowned sentence Man is born free and he is everywhere in
chains (Rousseau, 1968:1). He believed that man is naturally good but it is the institutions that make
him evil and that the alienation of man could transform itself into freedom (Deneys Tunney, 2012).
According to Rousseau, freedom is choosing to live in a certain way. However, it is not doing
whatever you want. While an individual is free if he abides by the rules he sets for himself, this is due
to the fact that an individual is someone with a single will. However, society is a group of people with
individual wills in which conflict can occur between these separate wills. Rousseau s solution to this
problem is a sovereign (collective grouping of all citizens) which has a general will. This general will
always encourages the common good and must come from all and apply to all (Bertram, 2017). This is
in contrast to individual will which is only used for individual benefit. This general will advances
national and public interest but may come into conflict with a person s individual interest. To
Rousseau, sovereign is absolute. Like Plato, Rousseau believes that the majority of people are stupid.
Therefore, they need a law giver who could convince them that they need to adopt and obey the laws.
He would then retire when these new laws are

The Pros And Cons Of Texting While Driving
Florida Highway Patrol Sgt. Mark Wysocky says it is hard to separate texting drivers from drunken
drivers as he cruises down a suburban interstate highway. Both weave. They speed up and slow down
for no obvious reason and get too close to other cars. They endanger their lives and others.
``There s one, he says, as a woman zips past. But even though he could see her texting, he couldn t
ticket her Florida statutes wouldn t allow it because she wasn t breaking any other traffic laws.
Florida, with some of the nation s deadliest roads, is one of the last states to not fully ban texting while
driving, but the Legislature will soon consider a bill that would. However, studies conflict over
whether such bans have any effect.
Currently, Florida law says texting by noncommercial drivers is a secondary offense law enforcement
officers must see another violation like speeding or an illegal lane change before they cite a driver for
texting. The bill would make texting a primary offense. The fine for a first offense would remain $30
plus court costs and add no points to the driver s record. Previous attempts have failed, but this bill has
support from legislative leaders.
Forty three states already make texting while driving a primary offense. Three besides Florida list it as
a secondary offense Nebraska, Ohio and South Dakota. There is no state law against texting in
Arizona, Montana and, for noncommercial drivers 22 and older, in Missouri. The federal government

reefer boxes are promoted inbound in Asia to export boxes to Europe. As a result, Hanjin can

The Controversy Between The Movie Troy And The Iliad
The Movie Troy has been one of the best Hollywood movies to be filmed. However, many historical
events that took place in the movie, and the Iliad can be questioned whether or not they are reliable,
creating controversy about the historical accuracy of the film. This essay will examine and evaluate
the evidence, and compare the movie with archeological evidence about the Trojan War. It will be
argued that the myth of Troy was altered while creating the epic movie, Troy, to make it more
attractive for the audience. I will begin by introducing the source of the movie s storyline. Then it is
going to evaluate the archeological evidence to uncover certain factors, such as whether or not Troy
actually existed. How big was Troy? Who attacked ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

with the description given by Homer. When Schliemann arrived he attacked the mountain with pic

found ruins of the pre historic city. Ramps guided to a gate. Schliemann found gold, and jewels that
Helen once wore, or so he thought. Decade s later archeologist Korfmann showed some interest on the
city of Troy. Korfmann realized that the jewels were more 1,000 years old coming to the conclusion
that Helen couldn t have worn those jewels because they were too old. Korfmann took a photo of the
landscape underneath with advanced technology, and found wide streets, towers and a gate. He
examined his evidence and came to the conclusion that the city was too small, and that the gates had
no way of closing allowing the enemy to walk right in. His reasoning made him believe that perhaps

Twain Hyperbole
Twain begins the essay by quoting a few critics, who praise the works of Cooper, as Thomas
Lounsbury, Brander Matthews and Willkie Collins. Twain comments: It seems to me that it was far
from right for the Professor of English Literature in Yale, the Professor of English Literature in
Columbia, and Willkie Collins to deliver opinions on Cooper s literature without having read some of
it. It would have been much more decorous to keep silent and let persons talk who have read Cooper .
Twain hints at Brander Matthews ironically, when he tells us that Cooper s books reveal an
extraordinary fullness of invention . Twain accepts Brander Matthews s literary judgments and

The greatest example of hyperbole is seen at the end of the essay. Twain implements his final
experiments , saying that man is fatally stupid and simple minded. He put a diversity of animals in a
cage and in the long run, the animals got along, even became warmhearted toward each other.
Thereupon, Twain says that he put many men from all various religions in a cage and after two days
there was ...but a chaos of gory odds and ends of turbans and fezzes and plaids and bones and flesh not
a specimen left alive . This instance is as utmost as hyperbole gets. Twain indicates the savagery of
man in an example of an Earl who hunts buffalo for food and a snake that eats a calf for food. He
elucidates that the Earl kills 72 animals when only needing one for food while the anaconda kills just
one calf for food. Furthermore, Twain elucidates that when Humans keep prisoners, the prisoners are
dreadfully tantalized. Twain goes ahead to point numerous horrible examples of ill treatment, torture
throughout history. Twain also indicates how humans are the only animals who subjugate and plunder

Comparing Elizabeth Bennet and Charlotte Lucas in Pride...
The intent of this essay is to compare and contrast the characters of Elizabeth Bennet and Charlotte
Lucas. The main points that will be compared and contrasted include the relative beauty, age and the
characters of Elizabeth Bennet and Charlotte Lucas. The similarities and differences in their families,
position in society and their wealth, their differing attitudes to marriage, and finally, who has the better
deal and why, will also be discussed. By the end of this essay, the reader will be able to discern the
differences and similarities in both Elizabeth and Charlotte.

The families of Elizabeth and Charlotte play a very important part in their lives, and in the prospect of
their future companions. Elizabeth s family are more prone to exposing themselves and being
ridiculous , and it is partly down to her family that Mr. Darcy is so adamant on Mr. Bingley not
marrying her sister Jane. However, unlike her family, Elizabeth is socially graceful, sensitive and
conscious of her appearance in the eyes of others. This leads to her acute awareness of the social
failing of some members of her family, particularly her mother and youngest sister.
Elizabeth s father is more sensible than her mother and is described as so odd a mixture of quick arts,
sarcastic humour, reserve and caprice . Her mother however is not so difficult to work out, she is a
woman of mean understanding, little information and uncertain temper , and the business of her life is
to get her daughters married3. Charlotte s mother, Lady Lucas, is not much different from Mrs.
Bennet. She described as being a very good kind of woman4 , and like Mrs. Bennet she was also set
on getting her daughters married . Charlotte s father is Sir William Lucas, and he is a very pleasant
man known for his civil manners .
Another aspect of Elizabeth and Charlotte is their position in society, which is rather different and this
is partly down to their wealth. Elizabeth s wealth is greater than that of the Lucas family. Mrs. Bennet
often likes to point out that they

Character Analysis Of Simon In Lord Of The Flies
In William Golding s Lord of the Flies a group of boys is trapped on a jungle island after a horrific
accident. During their time on this island, the boys struggle to fight against the ferocious side of
human nature in trying to avoid turning against each other. The character Simon is introduced and is
immediately portrayed as a kind, sensitive and logical boy. Living on this island starts to have a
negative effect on the boys and fights begin to break out over leadership. The little boys speak of the
beast , and the boys fear and paranoia causes them to turn on each other and act similar to animals.
Only Simon realizes that the beast is not real, and that the only real beast on the island is the
savageness of human nature. In realizing this and not being affected by the influence of the beast,
Simon shows he is more logical and is less savage than the rest of the boys and he demonstrates that
he does not belong on this godless island of unthinking boys. When the boys first crash on the island,
they attempt to maintain an illusion of civilization with meetings and try to define roles in their
miniature society. They elect Ralph as their leader and build a signal fire in order to alert ships that
they are trapped on the island. Simon tries to maintain order and care for the little children on the
island by feeding them and protecting them from the older boys. Simon s appearance is described as a
skinny, vivid little boy (Lord of the Flies, page 16) and he is shown to

For the assignment I am to choose one poem and one work of fantasy from two different cultural
traditions. Choosing the fantasy was easy, but choosing the poem was a little difficult for me. For the
poem, I chose High Flight by John Gillespie Magee, Jr. The poem was listed in our textbook as a
sonnet. A sonnet is a very old form of poetry, having gained prominence during the Renaissance
period. It is also very sophisticated form and therefore not found much in poetry for children(Russell,

The writer used fantasy to describe what it might be like in heaven and all things you can do in
heaven. I think the fact that this is a poem is great. Poems are a good way to appeal to people.
Especially in the world today. Poems do not take that much time to read or comprehend. They are
simple and get the point across in a fun way. After reading this poem I think it represents kinesthetic
images because kinesthetic images refers to actions or motions. The work of fantasy I chose is Peter
and Wendy. A fantasy is any story of the impossible. Peter and Wendy is a fantasy story that is now
called Peter Pan. Peter is a boy who does not want to grow up. He flew into Wendy s room and lost his
shadow. Once they found his shadow Wendy sewed it back on so he would not loose it again. While
getting his shadow sewn back on Peter began telling Wendy and her siblings stories of Neverland. He
told them that in Neverland you never have to grow up. Wendy and her siblings wanted to go with
Peter. Peter sprinkled them with pixie dust and they all flew to Neverland where they met The Lost
Boys, Captain Hook, and Tiger Lilly. Their journey to Neverland was filled with action and fantasy. In
my opinion this fantasy would be considered a journey fantasy because they all go on a journey to
Neverland. It can also be considered a magical fantasy because people do not really fly. I think

Climate Changes Caused by El Niño
El Nino literally means the child, but is it really a normal child? Well, El Nino is not actually a child
and is not even close to one. El Nino is the warming of the Pacific Ocean around the equator. It may
cause climate changes that can affect the environment in which people live. During the nineteenth
century, the local residents [of Peru and Ecuador] named this warm current El Nino after the Christ
child because it usually appeared during the Christmas season (Tarbuck Lutgens, 2006, p.546). El
Nino occurs every few years and lasts for several months. Changes in air pressure in the Pacific Ocean
cause El Nino which can cause major weather changes worldwide both beneficial and detrimental.
The normal wind direction, amount of pressure, and water conditions are influenced by El Nino.
Normally, atmospheric pressure is greater in the eastern Pacific than in the western Pacific...[making]
the trade winds blow from east to west ( Creating an Earth System: El Nino, 2003, para. 2). The
western Pacific s sea level is greater than that of the eastern Pacific since the winds blowing west
bring the water west, too. The water in the west is also warmer because warm water is compiled there;
in contrast, the water in the east is shallow and cool because of the rising of the cool water. In the east,
the cool air is too dense to make rain and clouds, while in the west, the warm air is able to rise to
create rain (Netting, 2003, para. 4). During El Nino, the high pressure in the

Factual History: Ms. Samantha Elauf is a woman who is a practicing Muslim applied for a job at
Abercrombie Fitch Co., which is a national chain of clothing stores. Elauf was interviewed by the
store s assistant manager Heather Cooke, and her interview so went well that it appeared to Elauf that

and recommended that she be hired. Cooke gave Elauf a rating, which qualified her to be hired,
however, she was concerned that her headscarf would conflict with Abercrombie s employee dress
policy. The headscarf that she wore according to her religious obligations conflicted with the store s
look policy . Cooke turned to Randall Johnson, the district manager, and informed Johnson that she
believed Elauf wore her headscarf because of her faith. She wanted to determine whether or not the
headscarf was in violation of this policy. Randall Johnson informed Cooke that Elauf s wearing
headscarf would violate the look policy , and therefore that Elauf should not be hired. As a result,
Elauf didn t get hired by Abercrombie Fitch Co.

The Ama Code Of Medical Ethics
Informed consent is defined as permission granted in the knowledge of the possible consequences and
is the backbone to honorable physician patient interactions. Unfortunately, throughout history there
have been many cases where physicians have used a patient s lower socioeconomic status to
manipulate the obtaining of informed consent. The AMA Code of Medical Ethics predates back to
1847, yet cases continue to arise directly breaking their key principles. These principles include
autonomy, justice, beneficence, non maleficence; and if followed ensure patients receive a high
quality of care. Informed consent prior to any participation in experiments or procedures is essential
for physicians to act within these guidelines. Autonomy allows patients to have free will and make
decisions without coercion. Justice keeps all individuals in mind so resources are distributed fairly and
all individuals are treated the same. Beneficence and Non maleficence focus on the intent of the
procedure to do only good and no harm. Even with these principles established there are discrepancies
in on how they unfold in a clinical setting. The American Medical Association states physicians
should assess their patient s understanding of their medical condition, the recommended treatments,
and document the physician patient interaction. The Tuskegee, Abdullah vs Pfizer, and The Skid Row
Cancer Studies are a few cases where these principles were ignored so physician and big

How Did Ancient Romans Use Of Board Games
Ancient Rome may have had some gruesome games and activities, but the way they spent their time is
not all that different from some of the activities we take part in today. For example, they played board
games similar to the ones we might play today, participated in sports and other physical activities. For
pastimes they also watched shows in large stadiums and even plays in theaters. Even though we would
watch football games while they would watch deadly gladiator fights, when comparing the two
civilizations we can see that there are many similarities. Through music, dancing or maybe even
hunting and fishing they also revolutionized the way we might take part in the activities today. They
also may have influenced what we know about these particular activities and maybe some of the rules
that we follow today when playing these sports and pastimes
First, board games were popular in ancient Rome like they are today, and they may have even
participated in some of the games we do, like chess and checkers. They even branched out from their
familiar Roman games into foreign Greek, Egyptian, and African games. Ancient Romans played a
wide variety of board games, including dice (Tesserae), Knucklebones (Tali or Tropa) Roman chess
(Latrunculi), Roman checkers (calculí), Tic tac Toe (Terni Lapilli), and Roman backgammon (Tabula).

An Individual s Personality Based On The Jungian Theory Of...
As individuals each of us believe ourselves to be unique compared to others, but what if we are not as
unique as we think? Based on the Jungian theory Katherine Cook Briggs and her daughter Isabel
Myers Briggs developed a test that would distinguish an individual s personality based on the 16
different personalities they believe exist. For the duration of this paper we will provide more
information on the MBTI as well as go into analysis of its validity and reliability in relation to its
utility and finally use our own personal experience with taking the MBTI and how closely it correlated
to our own personality. Description of the MBTI The Myers Briggs type indicator is a personality test
designed by Katherine Cook Briggs and Isabel Briggs Myers. The two designed the test after Swiss
psychiatrist Carl Gustav Jung s theory of psychological archetypes (Brown Reilly, 2009). Jung
believed that each individual has distinctive unlearned tendencies in their individual experience of the
world. The MBTI is scored after a participant completes a questionnaire consisting of 93 questions,
after the completion of the 93 questions a four letter personality dimension is created. Based on the
research and design done by Brigg s and Myers, which began as an assistive device for women that
wanted more knowledge about the type of work they would be most effective doing based on their
personality during the WWII, 16 different personality types can be created based on individual

Satire In Gulliver s Travels
Authors write in many different forms and use many different elements in their works. One of these
elements that writers use is called satire. This element is used to make fun of something that the author
disapproves of in a comical but hidden way. Widely considered as one of the greatest satirists to ever
live, Jonathan Swift used satire in his works to express his disgust in society and the British Monarchy
during the 18th century. One of the greatest satires ever written by Swift was Gulliver s Travels. In
Gulliver s Travels, satire is evident through Gulliver s voyage to Lilliput, his dialogue with Lilliput s
emperor, and his time spent within the kingdom of Brobdingnag.
First introduced in ancient Greece in 423 B.C., satire ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Swift expresses these feelings multiple times in the book in many different ways.
In Gulliver s Travels, Swift expresses his fury towards the British Monarchy and points out the many
faults within the royal court. Swift first states in Gulliver s Travels, when a great office is vacant either
by death or disgrace (which often happens) five or six of those candidates petition the Emperor to
entertain his Majesty and the court with a dance on the rope, and whoever jumps the highest without
falling, succeeds in the office (Swift 44). This statement in the book shows his anger towards how
people get into office. Showing how people will climb over each other to get an office position and
that the monarchy will only let people with a plentiful amount of money and a good name run for
office. Gulliver also notices within the book that all objects on the island of Lilliput are the same size
as the Lilliputians, noticing this he makes the statement, ...but nature hath adapted the eyes of the
Lilliputians to all objects proper for their view: they see with great exactness... (Swift 62). Swift is
satirizing in these lines that the British Monarchy is near sighted to problems outside of their kingdom
and only care about Britain. Swift also brings out a major point later in the book when Gulliver ends
up on the island of Brobdingnag. Since Gulliver is so small compared to the rest of the
Brobdingnagians, he is treated kind of insignificant. Swift is comparing

A Study On Smoke Management System

Albatross can reduce manufacturing costs and improve profitability by improving the plant layout.
Product layout would be the most beneficial for Albatross Anchors. This type of layout is an assembly
line and workers have their stations with tools, materials to complete the manufacturing process for
the anchors. Once the anchors have been manufactured, shipping them to a warehouse for storage is
the most effective way. Product layout has a sequential arrangement of manufacturing processes, a

The Human Mind In Edgar Allan Poe s The Raven
The Raven is a narrative poem, about a man who has recently lost his love Lenore. Edgar Allan Poe is
the author of this dark twist of the human mind. In the opening he is reading a book to try to keep his
mind off of the grief. He is all alone, uneasy, grieving, sorrowful, and is not in his right mind. He starts
to hear tappings on his door leading to a dark corridor. He is nervous because he realizes how late it is
in the middle of the night. He begins apologizing to the person saying he was napping and goes
towards the door slowly. says that the person was tapping to lightly so that is why he didn t hear the

door. The narrator believes the bird is from the underworld and asks him why it is here. The raven
answers nevermore (331). But to turn back to what the raven represents is his fears and doubts. The
bird could have flown in and perched itself upon the statue above the man s door. But when the bird
answers nevermore, it is coming from the narrator s imagination. He is in a scared, nervous, and
fearful state at this

The Day Of Homecoming
*Not Finished*
The rest of the week flew by pretty quickly. Finally, Saturday was here. Homecoming was tonight and
I couldn t be more excited. Luke and I finally decided on a bow tie for him. Isobelle and I are getting
our nails done right now. I decided on plain French tips. What s your plan for the night ? Asked
Isobelle. Well, Lucas won t tell me where he s taking me for dinner. He asked me if I liked seafood, so
I guess we re going to a seafood restaurant. I m excited to finally meet some of your friends! You ve
been here almost 2 months and I still haven t been introduced to any of them. Who s this boy that s
taking you to the dance? Is he cute ? She asked. Yes! He s gorgeous! And I m sorta his girlfriend, I

When I got out of the shower, my sister wasted no time. She threw me a robe, not minding my
privacy. I had to admit, I was a little self conscious being naked around Isobelle. Oh for God s sake,
Meredith, we re sisters. I have seen you naked plenty of times so get over it, She said. She sat me
down in my bathroom and started on my hair. Any hairstyle preferences ? I shook my head. Knock
yourself out, I said. Secretly, I was hoping she wouldn t go to nuts, but I kept to myself. Your hair is
curly and thick, so this will look great on you, She said. Isobelle turned me away from the mirror and
grabbed a chunk of hair from the side. She braided it down and tied it off. On the back of head she
made 3 separate braids and braided them together. She added the braid from the side and tied them
together in a bun.
Next, Isobelle started on my makeup. It was 4:30 already and we still had to put on my dress, shoes,
and jewelry. What color is your dress ? Asked Isobelle. I told her it was black and she got to work. I
tried to sneak glances in the mirror but she wouldn t let me. After lots of foundations and eye makeup,
I was ready. She turned the chair around and showed me what I looked like. I couldn t believe what
she had done. My eyes were a smokey black that brought out the blue in them. My hair looked even
more stunning. It was all elegant, yet simple. I slipped on my dress and put on my earrings. I decided

Evaluation Of The Boot Camps
Introduction Boot camps became a force to be reckoned with in the 1980s. It was at first imagined as a
powerful apparatus for settling behavioral issues of high schoolers. This approach was gotten from the
military style of rectifying the conduct of blundering individuals from the military. Boot camps for
young people have turned into a well known disciplinary alternative for guardians with juvenile kids.
Regularly prescribed by instructors or by state equity frameworks as a contrasting option to adolescent
confinement focuses, the boot camps are unbending military situations. Some are wild camps that
show youngsters ingrained instincts in a military like setting, while others are held nearer to
home.Youth camps are short projects that may last from 3 to 6 months. The juvenile is usually housed
in an office alongside other youth guilty parties. Surrounded in a prison like atmosphere, the goal of
these camps are to produce youth that are productive in everyday life. Juvenile delinquency is one of
the additionally glaring issues confronting the children of this generation. At present, the quantity of
juveniles everywhere throughout the world has developed into disturbing extents. Adolescent
misconduct happens amid pre adulthood, a period which is set apart by a move from adolescence to
adulthood. At this phase of their lives, they begin to end up distinctly free and far from the direction of
their folks. In spite of the fact that the young is recognized as the holder of the

Educational Field Trip To Phoetle Washington Essay
In 2015, Seattle had the nation s fastest one year growth rate, adding around 20,000 people a year.
That is 3.1 percent of the whole population, which ranked number one in 2015 2016. More and more
people are moving here every year. That also means students need education every year about the
history of Seattle. An educational field trip to Seattle Washington would be to visit the University of
Washington, Museum of Pop Culture, and the Pacific Science Center. The University of Washington
has been teaching students since 1861. With over 50 buildings on campus they have plenty of things to
do. The Suzzallo library is the soul of the campus, and was opened in 1926. It is open 7:30am to

They use nine different projectors to fill the dome. The colors are vibrant and exciting that go along

Tim Elam Dinosaurs
Tim Elam along with his partner, Travis Bibee, entertained us with a fascinating presentation on
dinosaurs. It was quite amusing to watch him through it. The jokes were absolutely dad jokes which I
believe keep you focused on the topic. They went over dinosaurs characteristics, aesthetically and
anatomically and they also spoke about who created the names of the fossils and creatures. Tim Elam
informed us about dinosaurs being similar worldwide, with evidence of fossils, because the land was
one at that time. Through time and division of land they began to adapt and change slightly. They
spoke about saurischian versus ornithischian. There are various different between these two orders but
the most distinguishable ones are the hips.

Essay On If Life Exist On Other Planets
Since the beginning of time, humans have looked out into space and wondered, are we are alone? This
curiosity about our own place in the universe has inspired many ideas and stories that attempt to
explain how life could exist on other planets. Scientists at NASA have been discovering evidence that
suggests it may be possible for life to exist on another planet within our own solar system. I have
always been interested in the mysteries of the universe, and never pass up an opportunity to learn
more about it. One current theory for the possibility life on other planets focuses on Jupiter s moon
Europa, a moon the size of a small planet. What evidence is there that life could even exist on a moon
encased in ice? How could a moon so ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Now the thickest ice on earth ever recorded is a little over 4 km thick and is located in Antarctica. To
give you some perspective, 10 kilometers is about from Citrus College to the 10 freeway, and that s
just the minimum thickness, astronomers don t know for sure yet how deep the ice actually is. But
how could liquid water exist on a planet so far from the sun?
You might be asking yourself, why isn t the moon solid ice, similar to the former planet Pluto? Even
though Europa is much further from the sun than Earth, its inner ocean is believed to have warm
water, at least warm enough to be liquid. It gets much of its heat due to Jupiter s gravity, pulling the
oceans as it makes its orbit and creates friction with the ice and the salt water ocean underneath. This
effect is similar to the tides here on Earth. Europa s liquid ocean is estimated to contain about twice
the amount of liquid water than all of Earth s oceans. Most of Earth s oceans still remain unexplored,
and the life that exists there, undiscovered. Imagine what might exist under an ocean twice that size.
Scientists suspect Europa s ocean may have enough oxygen to be able to support life, however,
according to NASA in an article published by phys.org, a science news website, the kind of life we
may expect to find (if any) would be micro organisms similar to the single celled forms of

Write a paragraph about why you think the University of Michigan devotes part of every January to
commemorate the life and work of Martin Luther King. Use the following articles to help you.
Above all, University of Michigan commemorates Martin Luther Kink to honor his work and memory.
It is because of people like him and other civil rights leaders that African Americans have been
afforded the multitude of opportunities that they have today. King stood for not only blacks but for all
people, including the disadvantaged and impoverished, and believed in the power of a divisive society
creating a unified society, of bloody riots being transformed into peaceful gatherings. He believed in

3) What did you like about the event? What did you dislike? What did you learn from the event (BE
SPECIFIC)?
I really enjoyed the fact that Deval Patrick did not just lecture the audience but told stories of his own
past and integrated many valuable lessons that tied back to Dr. King s ideals within his stories. He
shared his struggles as a child, fighting to make ends meet. He was supported and guided by his
teachers allowed him to imagine what it would like to be like to be a citizen of the world. His words
were very clear, concise and inspirational. I also enjoyed his honest and acuteness during the Q A. He
always responded to every question by addressing the person who questioned him by his/her first
name. I particular enjoyed his response to a question asking for his view on the policy of expulsion
and suspension of African American youths in Massachusetts. He replied that educational success
does not depend on one path. Small classes matter. A student s behavior of misconduct may be due to
the fact that the child is hungry, distracted or scared. It is vital to realize that children are hungry for
the attention of adults to notice them care for them and love them something that they may not be
receiving from their own home. My only negative comment would be that the presenter s speech that
introduced Mr. Patrick and list off all his accomplishments was very long and not

According to Michael Porter, competitive advantage is the attributes that allows one organization to

  • 2. Nature Or Nurture Is The Cause For Criminal Behavior No one can be certain whether nature or nurture is the cause for criminal behavior. However, research has stated that it is more often an interaction between genes and the environment that predicts criminal behavior (Jones, 2005). Through a biological perspective, it is determined that criminal behavior is due to genetics and/or neurological conducts. It concludes that criminals are born due to their criminal traits being passed down through genetic or chromosomal mutation. Another explanation of criminal behavior within the biological perspective are the neurochemicals within our brains and body. There many regulated chemicals in the brain that determines thought process, perception and action. Like the arguments for genetic and chromosomal mutation, any abnormal anomalies or chemical imbalance can heavily impact behavior (Schram, 2018). This goes for any damages to some parts of the brain that controls emotions, reason and logic. Problems with the biological perspective are the following: 1. It provide little explanations for a small of minority of offenders with specific conditions (Levitt, 2013). 2. Disregard the effect of environmental influences and life experiences that also impact behavior. 3. Since criminality is based on biology, it is unchangeable, therefore, no one is to be blamed for their actions. Lastly, 4. Famous studies on biological factors of criminality (ex: the twin, family and adoption studies) maintained an intertwined relationship with social ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. John Maynard Keynes And The First World War Introduction Since the industrial revolution in the 1800s, the European economy changed for the first time. John Maynard Keynes, a well known English economist, was a member of the British delegation to the peace conference in Versailles in 1918. He offered an opinion in which would cause the reparation against Germany to have negative economic consequences for Germany and Europe as a whole. [cite text pg 341]. This paper will discuss in depth the life and approach John Maynard Keynes used when analyzing the Treaty of Versailles. To do this, one must consider the effect of the First World War and the imposed reparations on the German economy and the European economy as a whole, as well as the effect on the United States economy, as they issued ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By 1914 all the European Powers had elected lower houses of parliament, and a majority of the adult male population was enfranchised. The press was relatively free, and citizens could form parties and pressure groups. Prior to the 19th century, most European citizens were under complete ruling of a king or queen, meaning they have final say over any and all political, financial, legal, and economic decisions. With the democratization of Europe, citizens could now participate in important political decisions, which in turn, makes the European economy much more vulnerable. Democratization of Europe makes the European economy more vulnerable because a king/queen makes economical decisions based solely to make themselves more wealthy while furthering the nation. On the other hand, a political leader who makes economical decisions to satisfy the needs of citizens, keeping the future and wealth of the nation as a lower priority. Also, a king/queen is more likely to be more experienced and might have more attachment to important decisions, due to the fact that they are taking over the role of the rulings of a previous family member in the country. They also make decisions that impact the nation long term, rather than just for the amount of time for which they are in power. • 4. Examples Of Hitler s Propaganda Kevin Martinez Mrs. Scheidt English 1302.127 May 5, 2015 Hitler s Propaganda Part I: What I Know I have chosen to write about the reason the German people accepted Hitler s ideology. The German people allowed the Nazi party take power of Germany. They could have rejected the Nazi party and the holocaust would have never happened. Millions of Jews were targeted and killed by the infamous Nazis in an attempt to exterminate them. The German youth were as well as taken in to the ideas of Nazism and helped spread Hitler s anti Semitic ideas. The German people allowed themselves to construct death camps for the Jews. They violated so many laws against humanity with their horrible experiments and torture. They forced the Jews to work for the Nazi ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Web. 4 May 2015. . In the article By The History Place Adolf Hitler blamed the Jewish people for the loss of World War II. He used many tactics to persuade public opinion to favor his anti Semitic ideas. The tough conditions placed on the German people caused by the loss of World War II left many bitter. The German people became desperate for a solution to solve the economic depression. Hitler used this to his advantage by promising people change in the country. Hitler promised to make the country into a superpower by exterminating the Jewish people (The History Place). Hitler insisted that the Aryan race was descended to become a master race that had the right to govern the world. He as well as told the public that the Jews wanted to keep the German people from assuming its rightful position as rulers of the world (The History Place). He used TV, radio, Newspapers, and movies to spread Nazi ideology throughout Germany. He put into effect laws that demoralized Jews which helped put in place that the Jews were nothing more than an animal. Teen mothers having children has increased so much over the years that it s now a common occurance. Being a young single mother in today s society is challenging but with the help of government assistance single mothers are finding their way. The government provides help for single mothers through a variety of welfare programs. Or girls may even grow up to hate men because of unconscious resentment toward absent fathers. A study has shown that these young mothers are struggling with their time and availability for their child and their needs. This study has come to conclude that single mothers usually spend only 3.4 hours with their children. These mothers spend most of their time with work, school, yard work, and housecleaning. Leigh Thawley a twenty three year old mother of a 4 month of child says I feel like I have so many things to do in such little time and not enough time to even watch my child grow. Another major thing that affects time with their children is They feel the need to look good so they spend a lot of time fixing themselves so they can feel pretty and attract men. (D Amato) I try hard to put my child ahead of myself but it is hard to because all I ve ever had to do was worry about myself and I m still so young that I don t really know how put me last said Thawley. • 6. Example Of Transcendentalism In Peanuts Peanuts is a comic strip that ran from the 1950 s to the 2000 s. It s focused around a depressed and meek boy named Charlie Brown. The comics tell the story of him, his friends, and all of their adventures. While the comic strip ended in the 2000 s the world of Charlie Brown still lives on to this day. Around 120 years before the world of Charlie Brown, the philosophical movement of transcendentalism appeared. It emphasized the spirit and one s own individuality. Even though it came out a significant amount of time in the past, transcendentalism is still apparent in the modern world. Peanuts is a modern day example of transcendentalism in the way it represents character s own confidence and free thought. One of the characteristics of transcendentalism is confidence. A character in Peanuts who is a prime example of confidence is Lucy Van Pelt. For instance, in one of the comics written by Charles Schulz, when Lucy says that she has a knack for seeing other people s faults, Linus asks her about her own faults she responds that she has a knack for overlooking them and then when Charlie Brown says to Lucy, Sometimes you really astound me. I ve never known anyone who was so consistently crabby! How do you explain that? she answers, Never change a winning game! Lucy is a very sarcastic character and she stands by the way that she goes about life. She has an amazing amount of self confidence and she doesn t let anyone else get to her because she believes strongly in her actions. She s a strong example of confidence in transcendentalism because of how much she believes in herself and stands by her actions. Also, in A Charlie Brown Christmas the story revolves around the idea that Charlie Brown doesn t believe that the over commercialized Christmas that they all celebrate is the real meaning of Christmas. Then when he s asked to go get a big and over the top Christmas tree for the play, he grabs a small and neglected tree because he sees the potential in it and he feels like it s his job to give it a home. When all of his friends make fun of him and tell him that he s stupid he gets depressed, but he doesn t lose his confidence that that isn t what Christmas is all about. After Linus reads a passage of the bible ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Analysis Of The Poem Charge Of The Light Brigade And ... While both Alfred Lord Tennyson and Wilfred Owen describe war in great detail in their works Charge of the Light Brigade and Dulce Et Decorum Est, respectively, Tennyson describes the courage and honor of warfare, whereas Owen goes into more detail about the horrors and atrocities that go hand in hand with war. Tennyson describes a battle in which 600 bold and courageous men storm a valley, which he refers to as the Valley of Death (line 7), to meet their almost inevitable death. Owen in his Dulce et Decorum Est, describes a scene from World War I in which soldiers are bombarded with gas shells. In this essay I will argue that despite their differing subjects and themes, both Tennyson and Owen s work prove that the honor and courage of the soldiers comes directly from the hardships they must endure. The fact that the men knew the dangers of fighting the battle and knew that they were facing death is the factor in which Tennyson draws the theme of courage. In line 23, he states: Boldly they rode and well, into the Jaws of Death (lines 23 4). In order to describe the experience of war throughout his work, Alfred Lord Tennyson describes the courage of the 600 men who rode into the Jaws of Death, to fight for victory even though they were facing inevitable death. Although they fight valiantly, they are eventually ransacked by the gun fire of their opposition. The 600 are forced to retreat back from the valley, where even more men are killed. • 8. Louise Symbolism In The Story Of An Hour Within the tear jerking short story, The Story of an Hour by Kate Chopin, Kate Chopin offers insight on the ongoing battle of the main character and her loss of her husband. In the beginning of the story, Louise Mallard has to be informed about her husband s death. Since Louise suffers from heart trouble, her sister, Josephine, must inform her in a cautious manner. Brently, was announced dead by a local newspaper in which Brently has died due to a railroad disaster. Louise is perched against an open window in which she studies the outside environment closely. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Louise then exclaims, free, free, free! when she was told about the news of her husband s death (Chopin 13). Louise exclaims free multiple times because this is essentially her hidden feeling towards her husband s death, free. In direct correlation to Louise repetition of free, she sits near a window in which symbolizes her underlying feelings towards the oppressiveness of marriage. After all the time she stared out the window, now there was a dull stare in her eyes, whose gaze was fixed away off yonder on one of those patches of blue sky. It was not a glance of reflection, but rather indicated a suspension of intelligent thought (Chopin 13). Louise undergoes a change in mindset in which she suddenly realizes the freedom she received over Brently s death. The window is a symbol to her freedom, in which she enlightens herself after a few moments of thought. Lastly, irony plays a role in Louise s sudden death. The irony begins when Louise breathed a quick prayer that life might be long. It was only yesterday she had thought with a shudder that life might be long (Chopin 14). The death of Brently poured the negative influences in Louise s mind. She believed that her life was going to be long and dull when she was informed. Eventually, the doctors came they said she had died of heart disease of joy that kills (Chopin 14). Shortly after she thought ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Even in the early ages, dogs were deemed as sincere guardians and hunters. They have played a vital role in the history of warfare starting from ancient times. Dogs were used by Egyptians, Persians, Slavs, Romans and Greeks. The Molossus dog was thought to be the most powerful dog by the Romans and underwent intense training for war. The Romans and Greeks exploited dogs for the purpose of defense. During the Late Antuquity, Atilla the Hun used Molosser dogs. • 10. Yeats And The Salley Garden Essay They (the great writers) were national first ... and it was the intensity of their own nationalism which made them international. (Power 65) As Maud Gonne said without Yeats there would have been no Literary Revival in Ireland. Without the inspiration of that revival and glorification of beauty and heroic virtue I doubt there would have been an Easter week (24). Yeats was born in 1865 near Dublin in Ireland and through his literary work contributed in the cultural nationalism of Ireland. He imagined an Ireland that took shape as modern Ireland. He tried to unify the nation by substituting religious beliefs of the sectarian and class loyalties with the nationalistic sentiment. He tried to define the importance of love and death in nationalism. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Yeats edited by John P. Frayne. To define Irish literature, the first article begins thus: Some of my countrymen include among (sic) national writers born in Ireland but I prefer, though it greatly takes from the importance of our literature, to include and of Irish subjects, when once a country was given perfect expression to itself in literature, has carried to maturity its literary tradition, its writers, no matter what they write of, carry its influence with them, just as Carlyle remained a Scotsman when he wrote of German kings or French, and Shakespeare an Elizabethan Englishman when he told of Coriolanus or Cressida. (Frayne 360) In his youth he excluded Swift, Sterne, Burke and Berkeley from his list of Irish tradition but afterward he declared them as his predecessors. He favoured genuine literature but was against any kind of propaganda. He excluded Thomas Moore, Thomas Davis and John Mitchel inspite of the presence of nationalism in their poetry because they used English method in their poetry and did not contributed in enriching Irish literary tradition. He praised Callanan for developing a new kind of verse with its source from the Irish tradition. • 11. Being A Stay At Home Mom Before we began to build our family, my husband and I were both working full time jobs at an upwards of 60 hours a week. This was practical at the time, but I knew I could not continue to do so with an infant. This led me to leave my job of 3 years just before giving birth. After a few months, I debated long and hard on returning to work. After very careful consideration, I decided the best thing to do for everyone would be for me to stay home. I knew that being a stay at home mom would be hard. More importantly, I also knew that my daughter needed me to be there for her. It helped me learn that the plan you may have for yourself may not be the best plan for everyone else; being able to compromise for loved ones is always important. When I got married, I was working as a federal contractor for a company that conducted background investigations. The days were very long, some at 10 hours, most at 12. My husband worked at the same company, so we were on the same schedule. This worked well for us, but as we started to discuss building our family, I began to wonder if this would be practical. I did not mind working so much, but knew having a baby would change a lot. Once I became pregnant, it slowly became evident I could not continue such crazy schedules. I moved to part time status shortly after, and ultimately left my job just months before having our daughter. I gave birth to my daughter on November 8, 2014. After 20 hours of labor, she failed to progress further and I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Harris University of Phoenix Community and Family Nursing NSG 420 June 22, 2015 Kimberly Lewis RN, MSN Ed Theory and the Nursing Process The theoretical basis for public and community nurses began in the nineteenth century with Florence Nightingale. Nightingale believed in the prevention and surveillance of diseases. She further believed that a disease was more prevalent in poor environments. • 13. Goodbye To All That Joan Didon Summary Time, memory, and youth all fade away, but can bee preserved through writing. Joan Didon s essay Goodbye to all that, This is an essay about the ending of the author s youth, into adulthood. Joan Didon is writing from her point as an adult, looking back into her twenties, while she was in the city of New York. She romantically writes about the city of New York, as a paradise for people in their twenties. New York is a city filled with adventure, and she is thankful for her time that she had spent in the city. Joan Didon was a young, idealistic writer, searching for an audience in the city of New York. She recalls her experience as a struggle, but also a fun time in her life, which helped her find herself, and in the end she found her husband as well. The city is notorious fast. It draws in people who are dreamers. These are people who are ambitious. The can be very poor or very wealthy. Didon s depiction of New York illustrates people who are professional, hustlers, as well the people who are searching for a start in the city. It is not a place for people who are settled in their life or people who are at the end of their life. I want to explain to you, and in the process perhaps myself, why I no longer live in New York. It is often said that New York is a city for only the very rich and the very poor. It is less often said that New York is also, at least for those of us who came there from somewhere else, came city for only the very young. (Didon, P. 226) I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Power: The Contraction of visibility by Meredith Yuhas with the dancers Taylor Dumdei, Rekha Letsinger, Ashley French, Naja Copeland, Demery Trantham, Destiny Smith, Uriah Huffman, and Lydia Ray; This piece was about how people are struggling to gain all the power, possibly about racism or at least has a bit of racial elements in it. Analysis Of The Social Contract By Jean-Jacques Rousseau In my essay I will discuss whether Jean Jacques Rousseau s The Social Contract signals the advent of modern democratic republicanism or whether it represents a dangerous recipe for the suppressing of individual liberty. I will begin my essay by briefly explaining what is meant by modern democratic republicanism and individual liberty. I will then give a detailed account of Rousseau s Social Contract Theory and discuss what he means when he talks about general will . Furthermore, I will talk about his concepts on a sovereign, the law giver and his civil religion. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... His Social Contract begins with the renowned sentence Man is born free and he is everywhere in chains (Rousseau, 1968:1). He believed that man is naturally good but it is the institutions that make him evil and that the alienation of man could transform itself into freedom (Deneys Tunney, 2012). According to Rousseau, freedom is choosing to live in a certain way. However, it is not doing whatever you want. While an individual is free if he abides by the rules he sets for himself, this is due to the fact that an individual is someone with a single will. However, society is a group of people with individual wills in which conflict can occur between these separate wills. Rousseau s solution to this problem is a sovereign (collective grouping of all citizens) which has a general will. This general will always encourages the common good and must come from all and apply to all (Bertram, 2017). This is in contrast to individual will which is only used for individual benefit. This general will advances national and public interest but may come into conflict with a person s individual interest. To Rousseau, sovereign is absolute. Like Plato, Rousseau believes that the majority of people are stupid. Therefore, they need a law giver who could convince them that they need to adopt and obey the laws. • 35. An Individual s Personality Based On The Jungian Theory Of... As individuals each of us believe ourselves to be unique compared to others, but what if we are not as unique as we think? Based on the Jungian theory Katherine Cook Briggs and her daughter Isabel Myers Briggs developed a test that would distinguish an individual s personality based on the 16 different personalities they believe exist. For the duration of this paper we will provide more information on the MBTI as well as go into analysis of its validity and reliability in relation to its utility and finally use our own personal experience with taking the MBTI and how closely it correlated to our own personality. Description of the MBTI The Myers Briggs type indicator is a personality test designed by Katherine Cook Briggs and Isabel Briggs Myers. The two designed the test after Swiss psychiatrist Carl Gustav Jung s theory of psychological archetypes (Brown Reilly, 2009). Jung believed that each individual has distinctive unlearned tendencies in their individual experience of the world. The MBTI is scored after a participant completes a questionnaire consisting of 93 questions, after the completion of the 93 questions a four letter personality dimension is created. Based on the research and design done by Brigg s and Myers, which began as an assistive device for women that wanted more knowledge about the type of work they would be most effective doing based on their personality during the WWII, 16 different personality types can be created based on individual responses ... This element is used to make fun of something that the author disapproves of in a comical but hidden way. Widely considered as one of the greatest satirists to ever live, Jonathan Swift used satire in his works to express his disgust in society and the British Monarchy during the 18th century. One of the greatest satires ever written by Swift was Gulliver s Travels. In Gulliver s Travels, Swift expresses his fury towards the British Monarchy and points out the many faults within the royal court. Swift first states in Gulliver s Travels, when a great office is vacant either by death or disgrace (which often happens) five or six of those candidates petition the Emperor to entertain his Majesty and the court with a dance on the rope, and whoever jumps the highest without falling, succeeds in the office (Swift 44). This statement in the book shows his anger towards how people get into office. Showing how people will climb over each other to get an office position and that the monarchy will only let people with a plentiful amount of money and a good name run for office. Gulliver also notices within the book that all objects on the island of Lilliput are the same size as the Lilliputians, noticing this he makes the statement, ...but nature hath adapted the eyes of the Lilliputians to all objects proper for their view: they see with great exactness... (Swift 62). Swift is satirizing in these lines that the British Monarchy is near sighted to problems outside of their kingdom and only care about Britain. Swift also brings out a major point later in the book when Gulliver ends up on the island of Brobdingnag. To give you some perspective, 10 kilometers is about from Citrus College to the 10 freeway, and that s just the minimum thickness, astronomers don t know for sure yet how deep the ice actually is. But how could liquid water exist on a planet so far from the sun? You might be asking yourself, why isn t the moon solid ice, similar to the former planet Pluto? Even though Europa is much further from the sun than Earth, its inner ocean is believed to have warm water, at least warm enough to be liquid. It gets much of its heat due to Jupiter s gravity, pulling the oceans as it makes its orbit and creates friction with the ice and the salt water ocean underneath. This effect is similar to the tides here on Earth. Europa s liquid ocean is estimated to contain about twice the amount of liquid water than all of Earth s oceans. Most of Earth s oceans still remain unexplored, and the life that exists there, undiscovered. Imagine what might exist under an ocean twice that size.
