Benefits Of Pet Ownership Essay
amp;#8220;I think I could turn and live with the animals. They are so placid and self contained, ;
writes American poet Walt Whitman (Schellenberg 1). Yes, pets have been part of human culture
throughout history, and in American households, they are more common than children. It is reported
that 58% of U.S. households have at least one pet, whereas only 35% have children (Whitaker;
Witherell 76). Owners spend billions of dollars each year on pet food, accessories, and veterinary care,
but apparently pets give back, too (Schellenberg 1). Medical studies show that pet companionship
offers concrete health benefits (Simross 14). While only in the past few decades have scientists
become interested in the benefits of pets on human health ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A recent study at UCLA found that 37% of Medicare patients who owned pets visited their doctor less
frequently and seemed to tolerate stressful events better (Whitaker). These are only the physical
benefits.
amp;#8220;Being with animals. . .is just good for our hearts and souls. We . . .know that animals can
lower blood pressure and help us live longer. But there is a whole other spiritual level there, ; writes
Susan McElroy, author of Animals as Teachers and Healers (Simross 15). The psychological benefits
include reduced mental distress, a sense of security, lower rates of depression, and higher morale
(Schellenberg 2). Serving as an effective stress reducer, amp;#8220;stroking an animal is calming, ;
says UCLA psychologist Dr. Judith Siegel (Witherell 77). Patients who watched a fish tank before
going into surgery did as well as those who underwent hypnosis to reduce anxiety and discomfort
(Schellenberg 2). The benefits are obvious no matter if the animal has four legs, wings, fins, or even
scales.
Why such beneficial effects? amp;#8220;Ironically, the most common reason people give for not
having pets having to care for them is one of the reasons pets improve health. Pets require that you
amp;#8216;extend amp;#8217; yourself when you normally wouldn amp;#8217;t, and for people who
are ill or just want better health, pets turn them into amp;#8216;care

Whole Foods Market Overview
Whole Foods Market Background Whole Foods Market is an American based retail chain grocery
store. They strictly sell both natural and organic food, offering a variety of products. Natural refers to
food that is free of growth hormones or antibiotics, while certified organic food must meet the
standards of the US Department of Agriculture (USDA). Whole Foods Market is the leading retailer in
the natural and organic foods, with 193 stores in 31 states, Canada, and the United Kingdom. With
Whole Foods Market being the first retailer in the business, they never really had to worry about
competition. However, with the trends changing and people wanting to eat healthier and have healthier
lifestyles, the popularity of the natural and organic products have increased. This means that Whole
Foods Market s competition is growing because different stores are catering to the consumers wants.
So, since Whole Foods Market is the leading market retailer, how are they going to continue to grow
in an increasingly competitive market? This question can be simply answered: they will be able to
continue to grow because of their strategic plan.
Combating an Increasing Competitive Market A strategic plan will basically layout the goals and the
general direction of what the company wants to accomplish. A great way to analyze a strategic plan is
a strategic audit. A strategic audit is a checklist of questions about a certain aspect of the company or
issue that triggers a deeper analysis

Examples Of Food And Nutrition In The Elizabethan Era
Foods and Nutritional Practices of the Elizabethan Era
By Davril B.
The Elizabethan Era was very ironic in terms of status and nutrition of the rich and poor as the rich
were known to have worse health than the poor and common people. Which asks the question, what
are the differences between the nutrition health, and table/food manners between the poor/common
people and rich? Since the rich has more money which leads to a bigger variety of selections and the
poor and common peoples did not, what are the reasons for this outcome? Just like today, food
mannerisms and culinary practices are still quite alike to the Elizabethan Era. For example, they
washed their hands thoroughly before eating and they ate 3 meals a day, breakfast in the early
morning, dinner/lunch at midday and supper during the evening. Just like how there are some
traditions where people eat fish on Fridays or Sundays, there was a law where fish had to be eaten on
Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. There wasn t a religion or tradition that was the reason to eating
fish on those days, it was solely for the reason of supporting the fishing companies and if a law is
broken the consequence would be up to 3 months in jail. Important manners of the rich were the
seating at a table, as they would be sitting in a U shaped formation where the people of the lowest
honor would sit at the bottom at the table and the higher honors would sit at the top. Their manners
were very alike to today as there

The Government Effect On Protests Demonstrations Protests
The Government Effect On The Protests
Protests have numerous factors that affect the result of the protest and one major
element is the government. In the 1960 s some protests were brutal due to
discrimination; yet, the largest protest achieved to maintain a safe environment because
the government respected and allowed the protests. The March on Washington for Jobs
and Freedom in 1963 peacefully gathered approximately 250,000 citizens together to
protest the high level of black unemployment, minimal wages African Americans received
for jobs, poor job mobility, and continuous racial segregation. In contrast, The Gezi
Park Protests in Turkey, Taksim in 2013 got out of control due to the government response to
the initial 50 environmentalists who opposed to cutting the trees and building a shopping mall
instead. The government used police force brutally against the activists and as a result,
approximately 3.5 million protesters right to freely voice their dissatisfaction and use the
media was constrained. So, even though today, overall technology and cities have
improved excessively, Turkey is still facing an immense pressure and constraint from
the government during protests compare to the protests fifty years ago in Washington
D.C.
In every country, protecting its citizens rights is the government s fundamental duty
in order to maintain the peace and unity. But in Turkey, citizens rights were violated
because the government used its

Essay on The Holy Trinity, by Masaccio
Masaccio s famous religious painting, The Holy Trinity , is known for the engagement of linear
perspective to create an image that goes beyond just paint on canvas, (or should I say wall?) by
creating the illusion of depth. This painting addresses many religious concepts by setting up different
levels and layers in the constructed space. The characters depicted are made up of four groups of
human figures, which include the Trinity (God the father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit), the Virgin Mary
and Saint John, a pair of donors, and a skeleton on a tomb at the bottom of the picture. There is an
apparent point of separation, which is made clear due to each group being on separate levels. Their
difference in power is fundamental feature in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The vanishing point of this piece is not arbitrary and it becomes evident that Masaccio s placement of
the vanishing point suggests his intention for the viewer to see the greatness of the divine in
comparison to the tiny specs of man s existence. Because the vanishing point is placed beneath the
cross, the spectator s vision is directed toward the center of the masonry altar, which indicates that
man must raise his head in order to pay respect to God, further signifying Gods importance in
comparison to man. The Trinity appears very out of reach from the perspectives viewpoint. Masaccio s
manipulation of perspective places the viewer furthest from the divine Trinity and closest to the
skeleton, which suggests that man s mortality is not to be seen as equal to God s divinity. This
demonstrates the hierarchical relationship in which man is constantly looks up to Christ for salvation
and piety in order to somehow overcome death and fear of it.
The manipulation of perspective was not only significant for symbolic meaning. It was used as a
visual tool in order to create the magic that the painting is known for. Because the vanishing point is
approximately 5 feet from the bottom of the picture, which is practically floor level, this allows for
both the top and bottom of the picture to come together and establishes an illusion of an actual
structure. While this created space within the picture appears to be real, it is actually just one of the

The Bravo Battery Analysis
The Bravo Battery 1 14th FA had moved from FSB Mary Ann to LZ Mildred prior to the attack. The
commander Captain Conatser was responsible for the counter mortar program and had not adjusted his
defensive targets since the move. He had not visualized the possible locations for an enemy mortar
attack in relation to his howitzers locations. If he had thought of the possible enemy mortar firing
locations prior to the attack, they could have been more effective with their counter fires. He failed to
visualize for a new unknown. The design of the bunkers around the FSB allowed five Soldiers at each
position but was undermanned with two to three men in most bunkers and because of this, most
Soldiers slept through their guard duty. CPT Knight ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some of the lessons learned are that the leaders should have conducted a more thorough assessment
on the enemy composition, capabilities, and location. The leaders should have understood their
Soldiers low level of moral and motivation. If the leaders would have recognized this, they could have
made corrections early on in the life of the FSB and reduced the effectiveness of the enemy attack.
The leaders should have visualized how the enemy could attack the FSB. This is a large part of a
leader s job and forces the leader to visualize weaknesses of their location. Finally, the leaders could
have done their job and led their Soldiers. They could have enforced discipline, standards and the

Analysis Of The Film American History X
Vandalism, murder, and rape are only a taste of the violence presented within the film American
HIstory X (Tony Kaye). In his work, Kaye explores the origins of racism through the minds of Derek
(Edward Norton) and his brother, Danny (Edward Furlong); however, the film tells the story of far
more than these two brothers. It tells the story of all those who have ever overcame their prejudice
feelings through the process of introspection and their proximity to those they are prejudice towards.
While the situations and character transformations presented within Tony Kaye s film are too radical
and fast paced, it generates a true insight to the way of thinking that leads towards racism as well as
how some may overcome this weakness of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Kaye s creation presents a list of unreal situations. As the audience catches up with Danny years after
he witnesses his brother killing two black men, we find him in the principal s office for submitting a
glowing review of Hitler s book Mein Kampf. If someone were foolish enough to submit a review of
Mein Kampf for their high school English paper, they are foolish enough to make a mistake worthy of
expulsion far before they are at the grade level to write essays over books. To continue with these
coincidences, it is odd that the moment Danny changes his character and begins to accept people of
color as people he is shot by a person of color. This coincidence has clearly been used to assist
Hollywood as it attempts to tell its audience that racism will lead to a life of misery or even no life at
all. While Hollywood may be correct in this regard, using a coincidence to present this idea is
academically unacceptable. While these problems are real, they are all relatively small and are
overshadowed by one large imperfection.
Kaye s film, while a true work of art, has one fatal flaw, change cannot occur at the same pace shown
within Danny s transformation, especially when taking his environment into consideration. Change
takes time, especially when dealing with a deep seated prejudice such as racism. From the start of the
film, we see that Danny has had the ideology of racism ingrained into him so much that he looks at
Derek with pride, not in despite of his actions,

Technology Impact On Lifestyle
Technology: The Impact on Health and Lifestyle
Many people these days tend to shy from person to person conversations. Why? Because of
technology, people these days lack the experience and courage to speak to each other without being
timid or awkward. It has become a normal habit in our society to communicate through phones and
laptops. Day by day, our generation is slowly developing a horrible future by losing social skills.
Majority of of the current generation believe that internet is important and that we need technology to
communicate. Also, humans believe that living a healthy life is important. Who knew that spending
too much time with technology is causing human health to fade? Technology could possibly kill us or
harm our health in numerous unspeakable ways. Something as simple as holding a phone, texting,
watching T.V, or playing video games can have a significant effect on our health. Electronical devices
start as far back as 1835 when Joseph Henry, who was an American scientist, created the first
electronical remote device. Joseph created a remote switch that was used as part of a telegraph. Henry
s remote idea was later used for improving telephones. Electronics were first invented to help people
communicate and/or improve their everyday lives. They were meant to enhance people s lives by
making life easier. These days, those factors have been replaced from being helpful to being used for
personal pleasure. Now, people are using electronic devices in improper

As you all know by now, feeling good is vital for the law of attraction to work for you and that s a
fact. It s tapping into the vibration that creates worlds. So to tap into that higher frequency, you need
to feel good most of the time.
One positive feeling I like to talk about today is the feeling of being productive. Yes, that s right.
When you feel productive, you can feel passionate, content, and satisfied with who you are right now.
And that s a positive emotion where, if you stay in that state, all of the things you want will come to
you easily since you re in a higher vibration or point of attraction.
So with that, here are 7 steps you can implement in your life right now to feel productive.
Step 1 Improve Concentration
This is the most basic of all the 7 steps. Without the ability to focus on one thing at a time, you will
fail in the long run. It s very important to have the ability to block out all distractions and focus single
mindedly on one task at a time. When you are able to do this, you will have a power that

Quartering Act Of 1765 Dbq Analysis
The Quartering Act of 1765 is directly relevant to Chapter 6. It is relevant to Chapter 6 because it is a
response to the huge war debt against an already strained budget. George III s main priority was that
he wanted to maintain the size of the army. The colonists were not the biggest fans of this army. The
Quartering Act (1765) was one of four pieces of legislation that forced the colonies and colonists to
contribute and help with the upkeep of the large army(Oakes et al., 2015, pg. 167). Analysis: The
Quartering Act of 1765 is best described from parliament as an act, ...punishing mutiny and desertion,
and for the better payment of the army and their quarters; several regulations are made and enacted for
the better government of the army, and their observing strict discipline, and for providing quarters for
the army, and carriages on marches and other necessary occasions, and inflicting penalties on
offenders against the same act (Pickering, 1765). In other words, the American colonists were required
to house British soldiers and pay for their food, in order to keep the standing army. The textbook
defines it as, the Quartering Act (1765), required the colonies to house troops in public buildings and
provide them with firewood, candles, and drink (Oakes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Caught In The Crossfire Sociology
1. I can say it is a huge difference between being victimized by someone known to the victim vs. a
stranger. If it is you are victimized by an individual you personally know, it is possible that you might
come in contact with that individual again and you might question yourself with the intent of the
abuse. You may conceptualize why would they subject you to that type of abuse or what did you do to
deserve the physical abuse. In addition, it might be somewhat challenging to report the individual for
the reason that you may perhaps consider that an individual is a decent person after all. The victim
will retract or just not report the abuse so they will begin to feel sympathetic for the individual as to
make excuses for them by stating they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, if the judge would look at the wishes of an ex wife or daughter, it would also cause someone
to leave the room unhappy if it comes to worst (Ng, 2013). People would question the judge ruling, if
the judge would give a suspect slap on the wrist, or maximum sentencing for a lesser crime, because
of the emotional feelings of others.
3.3 A judge should never take into consideration of the victim or family member requests to give a
harsher or lesser sentencing. As I said before the sentencing of a suspect shouldn t be just based off of
granting a request. If the judge were to consider the family s request, though, the fact that it was
Vincent s ex wife and not his current wife would have made a difference because she could have bad
feelings for him (Ng, 2013).
4. I believe that it had detrimental effects on the offender s family. First of all, the case was all over the
media showing the offender in a negative way, which could cause a lot of stress for the family
members. Everyone felt remorseful for the victim so it could be a tough time for the offender s family.
You can tell that it was a tough time because Matthew Cordle made a video expressing how sorry he
was and how he wished he never killed their family member (Ng,

Darfur Issues
Being ransacked, raped, and pillaged, and most of all, murdered and driven out of your homes, all by
your government? These were the horrors about 100 native tribes faced in a region of Sudan named
Darfur in 2003. The government of Sudan took up arms against these villages for a number of reasons,
here including the ongoing fight between the native farmers and nomads, the Sudanese government
being corrupt, and the struggle between the villagers/farmers and their government.
All beginning in the late 1980 s, General Omar Bashir took over Sudan using a military Coup,
therefore allowing the National Islamic Front to worsen the problems. Weapons started to flow into
Darfur because of these conflicts, and little by little the native farmers started

Theme Of The Book Thief And The Things They Carried
Do you like war? Do you despise war? Have you ever attempted to help someone during a war,
probably not though? In The Book Thief, there is a girl named Liesel who were adopted by Hans and
Rosa Hubermann and they helped harbor a Jew during WWII. In The Things They Carried, is about a
soldier named Jimmy Cross who adores an English major named Martha and then one of the soldiers
gets shot and assassinated which makes Jimmy forget about Martha and become a better leader. In The
Book Thief and The Things They Carried have some similarities and differences and some of them I ll
explain with literary devices. The theme for The Book Thief is death/war/brutality and the theme for
The Things They Carried is to focus on what s more important than yourself. For my opening body
paragraph, one important literary device that both authors used is symbolism. In The Book Thief,
Markus Zusak starts of the symbol around the end of the book. Even though The Book Thief is a
morbid and a demonic book which has a lot of war and death in it, the dominoes represents how they,
were falling like dead bodies in the living room. (410). Well, in The Things They Carried, it also has
the same symbol which relates back to dominoes and how Tim protested against the war, but not
enough to be considered a pacifist. Also, how he thought about, Ho Chi Minh a Communist stooge, or
a nationalist savoir, or both, or neither?... What about SEATO and the Cold War? What about
dominoes? (38). That showed how the

Executive Summary
This report is about the social customs in America, Vietnam and China. Social customs include actions
and behaviors that are expected of a particular culture, and people could learn the particular culture via
its social customs. We introduced four aspects in the report: dining etiquette, gift presenting etiquette,
festival celebration and the wedding process. We tried to represent all three of these cultures in all of
the aspects of the report. The Chinese and Vietnamese cultures are quite similar in these areas, but
these two cultures differ greatly from the American culture. From these aspects, we can learn how
different the American culture, Vietnamese culture and Chinese culture are. We used primary sources
such as an interview, a survey, and our own personal experiences to form this report. We also used
secondary sources such as the Web to help move our research along. Our goal is to inform our
audience of the social customs of these cultures. We tried to show a contrast of the American culture
against the two

Employee Harassment And Employee Misconduct
Dealing with Employee Misconduct in Senior Communities
Every senior care community is vulnerable to the potential of employee misconduct. Besides the harm
employee misconduct causes to the senior being served and the care center s reputation, these
incidents can cost an organization millions.
Employee Misconduct Leads to a $64 Million Judgment in Georgia
A Georgia court found a residential care facility s staff and several other defendants liable for breach
of contract, negligent conduct, and invasion of privacy. The complaint filed by the mother/guardian of
a resident alleged that a Georgia facility responsible for providing services to persons with mental
disabilities did not supervise its employees, which led to the neglect and abuse of the residents.
In her complaint, the mother/guardian alleged that the employees at the facility beat her son on
numerous occasions, forced him to vote for a particular candidate in a local election (despite the fact
that he lacked the mental capacity to make such a decision on his own) and neglected to adequately
meet his needs. Furthermore, the plaintiff stated that the defendants were aware of the abuse but did
nothing to stop it. The plaintiff was awarded $64.6 million.
What Actions Are Considered Negligence?
Care center negligence has numerous definitions.
For example, the failure to provide adequate/required care to the residents is a form of negligence,
which can include neglecting to:
provide the residents with medication;

Electronic Health Record Executive Summary
2015 saw yet more practice owners convert to electronic health records (EHR). This recent influx of
providers into the health IT space has caused dozens of new EHR vendors to open for business. But
building and maintaining EHR systems isn t the easiest job in the world. Government mandates like
Meaningful Use (MU) and the Physicians Quality Reporting System (PQRS) require vendors to stay
up to date with regulations as well as maintain their certification. Good EHR vendors will not only
maintain their certification but will help their clients meet, if not exceed, government regulations so
they may take advantage of financial incentives while avoiding penalties for non compliance. If you re

Vertical Datum
A surface or level which is regarded as a base from which other levels can be counted. For example,
sea level is often used as a datum level against which the height of land and depth of the sea bed are
measured. A geodetic datum is an abstract coordinate system with a reference surface (such as sea
level) that serves to provide known locations to begin surveys and create maps. In this way, datum act
similar to starting points when you give someone directions. For instance, when you want to tell
someone how to get to your house, you give them a starting point that they know, like a crossroads or
a building address. Geodesists and surveyors use datum to create starting or reference points for
floodplain maps, property boundaries, construction surveys, levee design, or other work requiring
accurate coordinates that are consistent with one another. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Horizontal datum measure positions (latitude and longitude) on the surface of the Earth, while vertical
datum are used to measure land elevations and water depths. The horizontal datum can be accessed
and used through a collection of specific points on the Earth whose latitude and longitude have been
accurately determined by NOAA s National Geodetic Survey. One application of the horizontal datum
is monitoring the movement of the Earth s crust. This type of monitoring is often used in places like
the San Andreas Fault in California where many earthquakes occur. The vertical datum is similarly
realized through a collection of specific points on the Earth with known heights either above or below
a nationally defined reference surface (e.g., mean sea level). Geodetic vertical datum are generally
used to express land elevations. However, water level datum are a slightly different vertical datum,
and are used as a reference level to which bathymetric soundings are referenced for nautical charts.
Conversion between these two can be done through geodetic surveys at tide

How Should Harry Potter Be Banned

Characteristics Of The Grand Valley Ava
The grand Valley Ava is one of the many American Viticulture Areas located in Colorado in the area of
Mesa County. It is in the area of Grand Junction and Palisadse and it is defined as being an
agricultural area that is served by many canals located in the Colorado River. The AVA of grand Valley
encompasses over 32,000 acres with a climate of high dessert that varies from time to time in
temperature from being either cold climate or hot climate. Wine Processing began in the area of grand
Valley as early as the 19th century. Most of the grape production is in the area grand Valley and many
wineries are located in this area. Colorado Grand Valley Winery Map. Wine web Solutions. 2015
The Variety of grapes planted in Grand Valley vary widely and the yield percentage is relatively low.
The styles in wine vary from dry white and red with ice wine as well. Ice wine is a sweet and
concentrated wine made from grapes that freeze on the vine. There are many different varietals of
wine used in the Grand Valley which include red wines, white wines, and rose wines. White wines
consist of merlot, Shiraz, and Cabernet Franc and rose wines consist of Rose . The TTB, which is the
Alcohol and Tobacco tax and trade Bureau, imposes many different requirements on an Ava such as

A New Experience And Deeper Healing
Imagine if you can, a retreat that can provide a new experience and deeper healing. Perhaps you have
attempted several different techniques, but nothing has given you the healing you re truly desperate
for. Life is a hard journey at times it feels you climb mountains to only be pushed off the other side.
Getting up can be hard, but there are so many helpful resources to fit many types of healing needs. In
today s society, doctors will throw handfuls of medication to help in the healing process, and for some
this attempt at numbing the pain just doesn t work. Others look to a higher power for answers, and
others start a pattern of self medication that can quickly spiral out of control, therefore making things
much worse. Deep in the mountains of Peru, shamans perform ceremonies for those who have tried,
without relief, to heal their pain. The ceremonies involve drinking a mixture of the ayahuasca vine,
and other plants found in Peru that contain DMT, such as the chacruna or guambisa. Ayahuasca has
been used in sacrament for over two millennia. It is known widely for its healing abilities of the mind
body and soul. If you are going to abuse this like other psychoactive substances, then an ayahuasca
retreat is not for you. The ceremonies can be far from beautiful, and may surface past traumas as well
as cause physical effects that subside once the effects wear off. A physical healing happens in the form
of purging, this is believed to be bad energy or spirits leaving the

What Are The Misrepresentation Of African Americans

Americans in the media are portrayed as criminals, drug addicts, or misogynist which also includes
African American women are viewed as abrasive and promiscuous. While there are millions of
responsible and respectable African Americans. They are not celebrated in the media. What the
community sees are instead are thing in movies and on TV. This changes the general perception of
African Americans and cause people to assume they are violent and are a burdened to society. During
the pinnacle of segregation through the 1900s, African Americans were rarely portrayed on screen and
when they were portrayed in satirical ways, it was with white actors in blackface. This is a great
example of the misrepresentation of an entire community by those in power. In February 1915, a
movie was released called birth of a nation which was based on Thomas Dixon Jr. novel the clansman.
The film depicts the Ku Klux Klan as heroes and the villains were portrayed by white actors in black
face. The film was basically trying to justify racism and imply that the white hooded, figures where
protecting the white race because African males were trying to sexually ravage the white women this
portrayal of African American male was known as a bucks. Despite the very clear prejudice in the film
it was a major success and was the first ever major motion picture shown in the White House to

Country Rock History
COUNTRY AND JAZZ IN ROCK
At the end of the 1960s, when Rock and Roll were at its prime, two musical genres that were
originally considered its influences re imagined themselves through Rock and Roll s prism Country
and Jazz musicians started to mix their music with Rock s relentless energy. The newfound genres,
called Country Rock and Jazz Rock respectively were accepted by the audience and critics alike,
having a major impact that is still traceable in today s music.
Musical genres can be often analyzed from two standpoints: the way the genre approaches musical
harmony and the genre s stylistics. There is Country with its rudimentary melodic approach, which in
a majority of times is merely a backdrop for stories that cover themes such as love, freedom, religion,
and, unsurprisingly, the aspects of life in the countryside. A major part of Country s aesthetics is
reached with the use of very few recognizable instruments, such as fiddles and banjos. On the other
hand, we have Jazz, whose most renowned contributors were quite often creating instrumental pieces
exclusively, praising structural and melodic complexity as their ultimate goals. Throughout its history,
Jazz was moving in all directions, experimenting with all sorts of instruments and musical
movements.

Being a follower is easier than being a leader. Followers don t fight as hard nor do they stress as much.
Followers are submissive to the opinions of others. Followers camouflage into society; they act, think,
and speak like everyone else. Followers quiet their voices and allow others to speak for them.
Followers always require someone else to walk them in life. Followers never take a stand nor stand in
front of the line. Followers prefer decisions be made for them and hardly ever get involved in decision
making. Being a follower is the easy route in life; obey others and you will fit right in. Followers
never rebel, but complain often. They speak of change, but wait for others to act. Followers criticize
the work of others, but never bring fresh ideas to the table. Followers are repetitive, they despise
change. Followers seek comfort and avoid challenges. Followers dependent on others; they seek the
approval and favor of everyone else, even if it means suppressing their own true identity. Followers

Essay about The Changing of American Families
The Changing of American Families
Television reflects how American families are viewed. Leave it to Beaver and
The Brady Bunch were the ideal families in the 1960 s and 1970 s, and in the 80 s, it was Family Ties.
When the 1990 s approached us, television shows took on a whole new outlook on American Families.
There were shows such as Full House, which was about a single father raising three daughters with the
help of his brother in law and his best friend. Roseanne was also another show that showed the
dysfunctional side of families. American Families keep changing, and they will continue to change in
our future.
Topics such as the changes in family logistics are important to be informed about in this day and age.

More and more women were pushed into the work force. The 1960 s and 1970 s became an era of
diversity and identity politics as a host of others sought recognition and liberation from the constraints
of discriminatory laws, social policies, and negative stereotypes (Erera 354). As more women were
entering the work force, they were becoming financially independent and were able to live on their
own. This led to many women who were unhappy in their marriage to divorce their husbands and raise
their children on their own. As more and more women became financially independent, the more
appealing single life became to them. Soon women all over were adopting and fostering children, and
many also decided to give birth while still remaining single. With the increasing numbers and
visibility of single parent, step, and adoptive families, the gay liberation movement opened the way
for the emergence of gay and lesbian families (Erera 355). Gay and lesbian families were starting to
become more common as the seventies had passed.
The eighties and nineties were a time when everyone was arguing over what a family really was. Erera
states Voices on the right blames changes in the family for a wide range of social problems, while
voices on the left look to the family to provide the basis for a more communitarian society (Erera
356). People were starting to blame the increase of family diversity to almost anything they could.

The Development of Jazz in South Africa
On June 19, 1890 South Africans came into contact with African American music for the first time.
This contact came when Orpheus McAdoo s Virginia Jubilee Singers. Orpheus McAdoo, a graduate of
Hampton Institute, now known as Hampton University in Hampton, Virginia joined five members of
the original Fisk Jubilee Singers, an African American a capella group from Fisk University and began
to tour places such as Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. When he returned to the U.S., he added
four members to the minstrel troupe and in 1890 they found themselves in Cape Town, South Africa.
Their tour in Cape Town was extremely successful and they forever left an impact on South African
culture in the form of a Carnival that takes place each year. Kaapse Klopse, formerly known as the
Coon Carnival takes place on January 2nd each year. Minstrel troupes gather in District 6 and take
part in a parade and various competions. Various genres of music are represented in the Kaapse
Klopse but one genre has been apart of the festivsal since its early beginnings, South African Jazz. As
the jazz tradition was developing in the United States through the cross fertilization of African and
African American culture, this jazz music would eventually reach all the way to South Africa. During
the late18th Century in New Orleans (then controlled by Spain), every Sunday, slaves would gather at
the Place des Negres, or Congo Square. In Congo Square, slaves were allowed to bring musical

with order in life. New technological advances and new ideas stirred a thirst for freedom in artistic
expression, and many artistic movements began. One of these movements, Surrealism, was the basis

The work is small, and consists of a barren landscape composed of land, water, and sky. The sky is
barely light, but cliffs can be seen in the distance as the water laps on the edge of the land. On the
land, one sees a leafless tree, some sort of box shapes, and seemingly melting clocks, one covered
with ants. In the center of the painting, an odd face like shape appears to be sleeping on the ground.
One theory into the meaning of this painting is that the melting clocks represent what happens in life
over time, while the face represents Dali himself lost in the movement of time. Dali s intention was to
direct the viewer away from reality and into the dream like state that he so loved to portray in his

The Concert At The Athenaeum Theatre
The live performance that I attended was called Circling the Square. The performance consisted of
two pieces the first called Trio M and the Second called ASCENDance. The choreographer for these
pieces was Jan Bartoszek a highly skilled choreographer who has choreographed more than 65 dances
in her artistic career. The company that performed the pieces was Hedwig Dances a local Chicago
based Dance Company. The performance was held at the Athenaeum Theatre in Chicago from April
8th to April 9th, 2016. Each performance was a contemporary dance piece showing the strength of
each dancer s movements with different props to help express the meaning of each piece. The pieces
were independent from each other and had their own flow to them as well as story behind them. The
dancers for each piece showed discipline in their performance as well as physical strength; as modern
dance is all about having clean cut movement in order to fully express the story.
The first performance was called Trio M, performed by three male dancers and only one prop on the
stage, a red bench. The meaning behind the dance from what I could gather was that the red bench
signified much more than just a bench it exemplified power. The dancers had to compete with each
other to obtain the bench and gain the glory. The movements that the dancers produced were executed
with a sense of fluidity and expression. In order to covey the fight for dominance there had to be a
struggle to reach the red bench which

Network Virtualization Using Generic Routing Encapsulation
RFC 7637: NETWORK VIRTUALIZATION USING GENERIC ROUTING ENCAPSULATION
AKSHAY HARISH WASANKAR Student ID: 44649479 Southern Methodist University EETS 8317
Switching and QoS Management in IP Networks Dr. Kamakshi Sridhar April 28, 2016 Abstract This
paper explores the details of RFC 7637 which is based on Network Virtualization using Generic
Routing Encapsulation. The purpose of this paper is to describe the usage of Generic Routing
Encapsulation (GRE) header for Network Virtualization (NVGRE) in multi tenant data centers.
Several issues with traditional data center designs such as static workloads, limitations on dynamic
allocation of server and network, oversubscribed network when using RSTP to avoid loops, 4K subnet
limit ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Traditional Data Centers have obsolete design catering to static workloads, fragmented networks and
server capacity limiting the dynamic allocation and consolidation of capacity. Most Layer 2 networks
use rapid spanning tree protocol to eliminate possible loops by blocking redundant paths, but it results
in wasted capacity and oversubscribed network. Network fragmentation and VLANs are used for
traffic management, security, performance and broadcast isolation among services belonging to
different clients or tenants. For forwarding VLAN tagged packets, each layer 2 device needs to be
configured and each layer 3 subnet needs to be mapped to one VLAN. In the data center infrastructure
which is shared by multiple tenants, the 4000 VLAN limit is no longer acceptable. Also migrating
workloads require network to be re configured which can consume resources and be error prone. To
respond to dynamic workloads and demands, network administrators and operators must be to achieve
high utilization of server and network capacity, be able to assign workloads operating in single layer 2
network to any server in any rack in the network, be able to move workloads without re configuring
the network. This is achieved by decoupling the workload s location from its network address.
Therefore, key design objectives for the modern data centers are: Location independent addressing
Scalable number of Layer2/layer 3 networks regardless of number of VLANS or underlying physical

EXECUTIVE COMPENSATION

Executive compensation generally consists of a mix of four components:
Annual Base Salary
Annual Incentive or bonus plans tied to short term performance measures.
Long Term Incentives consisting in a mix of restricted stocks, stocks options and other long term
performance plans tied to shareholder return or financial performance.
Benefits plans.
As a rule of thumb, the base salary constitutes 30% of total compensation, the annual incentive

Executives can trade for entirely legitimate reasons, such as to raise money to meet a tax bill or simply
to diversify. But of course they must avoid trading on nonpublic information, and that can lead to
sticky situations, since executives do possess just such information much of the time.
Regulatory efforts to find a way around this conundrum and allow executives to trade, a Wall Street
Journal analysis suggests, are so flawed they have left a confusing landscape that can both raise
suspicions about trades that are innocent, and provide cover for others that are less so.
Trading by specific insiders, such as employees, is commonly permitted as long as it does not rely on
material information not in the public domain. However most jurisdictions require such trading be
reported so that these can be monitored. In the United States and several other jurisdictions, trading
conducted by corporate officers, key employees, directors, or significant shareholders must be
reported to the regulator or publicly disclosed, usually within a few business days of the trade.
5. SHOULD SHAREHOLDERS HAVE MORE SAY?
Proposals that shareholders should have a greater direct say over managerial remuneration have been a

Arguments Against Poaching
Like all big issues in our world, there is an argument being made. The argument is not whether
poaching is a problem or not, it is obviously a problem, it is an argument on how humanity should go
about stopping poaching. One side of that argument believes that going after the people behind
poaching, those who buy poached ivory for example, is more important than stopping poachers on the
ground . They would be more likely to support a United Nations sanction on poaching than providing
funding for ranger groups. The other side of the argument is that the effort to stop poaching has
become an all out war and needs to be treated as such. They believe rangers need access to modern

Sistine Chapel Choir
The Sistine Chapel Choir was established in the late 1400 s which makes it one of the oldest choirs in
the world. The choir consisted of twenty four men in total. Six men in soprano, alto, tenor, and bass.
Today the choir is made of twenty men who make up the tenor and bass section; meanwhile, the
soprano and alto is made up by thirty boy choristers. Before the use of boys in the choir, men were
castrated to keep their voices high. The choir members also had to be celibate.
The first main composer connected with the Sistine Chapel Choir is Josquin Desprez. The famous

as for other composers they do as the notes will . Josquin is a historical mystery there is very little

the Roman Catholic Church. The Council of Trent decided the church music was getting to the point
where no one could understand the words. After hearing Missa Papae Marcelli the council decided the
words could be understood and should be kept; therefore, saving the polyphony

Copyright And Copyright Of Copyright Essay
The first thing for a web site owner to consider when publishing web applications is copyright. To
protect the originality of a web site owner s work , copyright is important issue. Basically, if someone
violates one of the five exclusive rights given to copyright owner by the Copyright Act , it is
considered as a copyright infringement. These include the right to reproduce a work, the right to
develop derivative works, the right to publicly display the work, or distribute copies3. Copyright
protection is related with following elements :
 The text of the site
 The pictures on the site
 Any clips of videos on the site
Using graphics is one of the important hallmarks of some popular web sites such as Microsoft s
Internet Explorer logo . In addition, text on a web site is also important part of copyright. This is
because plagiarizing text from third parties without permission is illegal like images do. To be more
specific, copyright is an especially essential issue in several web sites of search engines such as Yahoo
and Bing, and Google. In the case of both Yahoo and Bing, they are good at dealing with copyright
infringement by disabling accounts who repeatedly infringe other s copyrights . And, Yahoo
particularly takes care of listening consumers complaints if there are any wrong copyright
infringement reports6. However, Google automatically lower ranking of a particular web site in the
search results list if they have a high number of removal notices regardless of

New York University New York University (NYU) is one of the largest private universities in the
United States, located in Manhattan, its mission is to be an international center of scholarship,
teaching and research defined by a culture of academic excellence and innovation. NYU is an amazing
school that provides great opportunities and experiences for their students in all different types of
fields. The university was founded by Albert Gallatin in 1831. The student body went from 158
students total during NYU s first semester to an amazing student body of 40,000 students during the
2013 2014 school year. In 2013 2014 the tuition was $44,848, which is a bit expensive for most people
so financial support can be provided if it is needed. Most of the full time undergraduate students at
NYU would not be able to pay their educational costs if not for the financial assistance that the school
has to offer. There were about 22,500 students enrolled in the 2013 2014 school year; 40% of the
enrolled students were male and 60% female. There is a 35% acceptance rate at NYU. The deadline to
send in applications to the school is January 1st. NYU is not only the largest private university in
America but it is a university with a global influence that is very unique and unlike any other school.
There are three different campuses that make up NYU s global network: one in New York City, a
second in Abu Dhabi, and a third in Shanghai. There are also global academic centers in Accra, Berlin,

The Murder Of Innocent Civilians
America has always been depicted as an amiable place to live in. Generally, foreigners would picture
America as the perfect place to raise a family and lead a joyous life. In their mind, the idea of the
perfect fifties family household still holds true. Nevertheless, this image was quickly shattered, as the
adverse and hostile environment that surrounded them proved to be more difficult than imagined. One
of the biggest mistakes that they failed to recognize was the atrocious, random, murder of innocent
civilians. These murders were frequently published on the front page of every major newspaper, which
led to the development of an insatiable interest in the demise of others. This is true in the nineteenth

Leopold is described as a highly skilled scholar, but is a social recluse due to his hormonal
abnormalities. Loeb, on the other hand, is handsome and societal. Nevertheless, he possesses a sinister
side, his love for the life of crime. The film revolves around four main characters, Brandon Shaw,
Phillip Morgan, Rupert Cadell, and the victim, David Kentley. Brandon and Phillip pertain to New
York s elite class and are intelligent, sophisticated men. Rupert, being a philosopher of sorts, instills
the idea of Friedrich Nietzsche s übermensch upon Brandon and Phillip. Thus, this drives them to kill
their former classmate, David. While Hitchcock explains the philosophical motive of the murder,
author Miriam Allen deFord in her work, Superman s Crime: Loeb and Leopold, depicts Leopold and
Loeb as criminal masterminds and illustrates their heinous act as well as specific details of their trial.
She rarely includes any details regarding the mindset of the two teenagers as well as the ethics behind
their murder. Whereas the true crime article, written by deFord, focuses more on the actions
committed by the perpetrators, the Hitchcock focuses on the psychological aspects of each character
and the philosophy behind the killing. As such, the film surpasses the article on almost every level.
Throughout Hitchcock s film, the philosophical idea of Übermensch is prevalent and openly discussed
by the characters. This controversial theory

Johnson V. Texas Supreme Court Case Study
Gregory Lee Johnson was found guilty of violating Texas state law by burning the American flag at
the Republican national convention in Dallas, Texas. The state sentenced Johnson to one year in prison
and a fine of $2000. Johnson argued that the right to burn the American flag was protected under the
right to free speech in the First Amendment. Johnson appealed the conviction to the Court of Appeals
for the Fifth District in Dallas. The court upheld the conviction made by the state, and the sentence
given to Johnson remained. Johnson then appealed to the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals and they
reversed the decision of the district court and dismissed the charges. The state of Texas then appealed
to the Untied States Supreme Court, and the Supreme ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These acts of conduct are done to express and idea and are therefore considered free speech. At the
time of Johnson s burning of the flag he was clearly expressing elements of communication. At trial,
Johnson stated that the reason for his flag burning: The flag was burned as Ronal Regan was being re
nominated as President. And a more powerful statement of symbolic speech, whether you agree with it
or not, couldn t have been made at that time. The Supreme Court decided that this action was an
expression of an idea and not an act of aggression to provoke violence. Therefore since it was an act of
speech, Johnson was protected by the First Amendment and his conviction was in violation of the
Constitution. The dissenting members of the court said that the flag is a sacred part of America.
Congress set forth laws on the specific design and construction of the flag. This shows the reverence
and respect that should be shown to the flag. They also wrote that in Chaplinsky v. New Hampshire
the court stated: it is well understood that the right of free speech is not absolute at all times and under

Technology s Impact On The Impact Of Technology In The...
We are living in the informational era where everything is expected to be innovative and always in
demand. With that comes the never ending innovation of technology. Looking back in to the history of
sports, the growth of technology has unpredictable consequences towards the sports industry however,
it grew sports into what it is today. The sports industry first took its great leap of popularity through
the industrial revolution. With more people coming into urban living, people had more money and
more time to focus on sports. Without the technology that made factories possible, people may not
have time to focus on sports. Furthermore, in the 19th century, the growth of sports was almost
dependent on new technology: transportation. The inventions of railroads, trains and telegraphs made
sports a nationwide event. Thousands of new inventions of technology such as, TV, internet, shoe
factories, clothing factories, phones, magazines, and many more has complimented the growth of
sports. With the increasing demand and popularity of sports, sports teams have mega stadiums worth
millions and billions of dollars. To give a perspective, the Los Angeles Stadium, the home for the LA
RAMS and Chargers has a price tag of $2.66 billion. However, today, technology has shifted towards
a to go mentality, where everything can be accessed instantaneously anywhere in anytime. Therefore,
this research would attempt to identify the effect of technology on the influences in sports game

  • 2. Benefits Of Pet Ownership Essay amp;#8220;I think I could turn and live with the animals. They are so placid and self contained, ; writes American poet Walt Whitman (Schellenberg 1). Yes, pets have been part of human culture throughout history, and in American households, they are more common than children. It is reported that 58% of U.S. households have at least one pet, whereas only 35% have children (Whitaker; Witherell 76). Owners spend billions of dollars each year on pet food, accessories, and veterinary care, but apparently pets give back, too (Schellenberg 1). Medical studies show that pet companionship offers concrete health benefits (Simross 14). But there is a whole other spiritual level there, ; writes Susan McElroy, author of Animals as Teachers and Healers (Simross 15). The psychological benefits include reduced mental distress, a sense of security, lower rates of depression, and higher morale (Schellenberg 2). Serving as an effective stress reducer, amp;#8220;stroking an animal is calming, ; says UCLA psychologist Dr. Judith Siegel (Witherell 77). Patients who watched a fish tank before going into surgery did as well as those who underwent hypnosis to reduce anxiety and discomfort (Schellenberg 2). The benefits are obvious no matter if the animal has four legs, wings, fins, or even scales. Why such beneficial effects? amp;#8220;Ironically, the most common reason people give for not having pets having to care for them is one of the reasons pets improve health. • 3. Whole Foods Market Overview Whole Foods Market Background Whole Foods Market is an American based retail chain grocery store. They strictly sell both natural and organic food, offering a variety of products. Natural refers to food that is free of growth hormones or antibiotics, while certified organic food must meet the standards of the US Department of Agriculture (USDA). Whole Foods Market is the leading retailer in the natural and organic foods, with 193 stores in 31 states, Canada, and the United Kingdom. With Whole Foods Market being the first retailer in the business, they never really had to worry about competition. However, with the trends changing and people wanting to eat healthier and have healthier lifestyles, the popularity of the natural and organic products have increased. This means that Whole Foods Market s competition is growing because different stores are catering to the consumers wants. So, since Whole Foods Market is the leading market retailer, how are they going to continue to grow in an increasingly competitive market? This question can be simply answered: they will be able to continue to grow because of their strategic plan. Combating an Increasing Competitive Market A strategic plan will basically layout the goals and the general direction of what the company wants to accomplish. A great way to analyze a strategic plan is a strategic audit. A strategic audit is a checklist of questions about a certain aspect of the company or issue that triggers a deeper analysis ... • 4. Examples Of Food And Nutrition In The Elizabethan Era Foods and Nutritional Practices of the Elizabethan Era By Davril B. The Elizabethan Era was very ironic in terms of status and nutrition of the rich and poor as the rich were known to have worse health than the poor and common people. Which asks the question, what are the differences between the nutrition health, and table/food manners between the poor/common people and rich? Since the rich has more money which leads to a bigger variety of selections and the poor and common peoples did not, what are the reasons for this outcome? Just like today, food mannerisms and culinary practices are still quite alike to the Elizabethan Era. For example, they washed their hands thoroughly before eating and they ate 3 meals a day, breakfast in the early morning, dinner/lunch at midday and supper during the evening. Just like how there are some traditions where people eat fish on Fridays or Sundays, there was a law where fish had to be eaten on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. There wasn t a religion or tradition that was the reason to eating fish on those days, it was solely for the reason of supporting the fishing companies and if a law is broken the consequence would be up to 3 months in jail. Important manners of the rich were the seating at a table, as they would be sitting in a U shaped formation where the people of the lowest honor would sit at the bottom at the table and the higher honors would sit at the top. • 5. The Government Effect On Protests Demonstrations Protests The Government Effect On The Protests Protests have numerous factors that affect the result of the protest and one major element is the government. In the 1960 s some protests were brutal due to discrimination; yet, the largest protest achieved to maintain a safe environment because the government respected and allowed the protests. The March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom in 1963 peacefully gathered approximately 250,000 citizens together to protest the high level of black unemployment, minimal wages African Americans received for jobs, poor job mobility, and continuous racial segregation. In contrast, The Gezi Park Protests in Turkey, Taksim in 2013 got out of control due to the government response to the initial 50 environmentalists who opposed to cutting the trees and building a shopping mall instead. The government used police force brutally against the activists and as a result, approximately 3.5 million protesters right to freely voice their dissatisfaction and use the media was constrained. So, even though today, overall technology and cities have improved excessively, Turkey is still facing an immense pressure and constraint from the government during protests compare to the protests fifty years ago in Washington D.C. In every country, protecting its citizens rights is the government s fundamental duty in order to maintain the peace and unity. But in Turkey, citizens rights were violated because the government used its

  • 7. Essay on The Holy Trinity, by Masaccio Masaccio s famous religious painting, The Holy Trinity , is known for the engagement of linear perspective to create an image that goes beyond just paint on canvas, (or should I say wall?) by creating the illusion of depth. This painting addresses many religious concepts by setting up different levels and layers in the constructed space. The characters depicted are made up of four groups of human figures, which include the Trinity (God the father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit), the Virgin Mary and Saint John, a pair of donors, and a skeleton on a tomb at the bottom of the picture. There is an apparent point of separation, which is made clear due to each group being on separate levels. Their difference in power is fundamental feature in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The vanishing point of this piece is not arbitrary and it becomes evident that Masaccio s placement of the vanishing point suggests his intention for the viewer to see the greatness of the divine in comparison to the tiny specs of man s existence. Because the vanishing point is placed beneath the cross, the spectator s vision is directed toward the center of the masonry altar, which indicates that man must raise his head in order to pay respect to God, further signifying Gods importance in comparison to man. The Trinity appears very out of reach from the perspectives viewpoint. Masaccio s manipulation of perspective places the viewer furthest from the divine Trinity and closest to the skeleton, which suggests that man s mortality is not to be seen as equal to God s divinity. This demonstrates the hierarchical relationship in which man is constantly looks up to Christ for salvation and piety in order to somehow overcome death and fear of it. The manipulation of perspective was not only significant for symbolic meaning. It was used as a visual tool in order to create the magic that the painting is known for. Because the vanishing point is approximately 5 feet from the bottom of the picture, which is practically floor level, this allows for both the top and bottom of the picture to come together and establishes an illusion of an actual structure. While this created space within the picture appears to be real, it is actually just one of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Analysis Of The Film American History X Vandalism, murder, and rape are only a taste of the violence presented within the film American HIstory X (Tony Kaye). In his work, Kaye explores the origins of racism through the minds of Derek (Edward Norton) and his brother, Danny (Edward Furlong); however, the film tells the story of far more than these two brothers. It tells the story of all those who have ever overcame their prejudice feelings through the process of introspection and their proximity to those they are prejudice towards. While the situations and character transformations presented within Tony Kaye s film are too radical and fast paced, it generates a true insight to the way of thinking that leads towards racism as well as how some may overcome this weakness of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Kaye s creation presents a list of unreal situations. As the audience catches up with Danny years after he witnesses his brother killing two black men, we find him in the principal s office for submitting a glowing review of Hitler s book Mein Kampf. If someone were foolish enough to submit a review of Mein Kampf for their high school English paper, they are foolish enough to make a mistake worthy of expulsion far before they are at the grade level to write essays over books. To continue with these coincidences, it is odd that the moment Danny changes his character and begins to accept people of color as people he is shot by a person of color. This coincidence has clearly been used to assist Hollywood as it attempts to tell its audience that racism will lead to a life of misery or even no life at all. While Hollywood may be correct in this regard, using a coincidence to present this idea is academically unacceptable. While these problems are real, they are all relatively small and are overshadowed by one large imperfection. Kaye s film, while a true work of art, has one fatal flaw, change cannot occur at the same pace shown within Danny s transformation, especially when taking his environment into consideration. Change takes time, especially when dealing with a deep seated prejudice such as racism. From the start of the film, we see that Danny has had the ideology of racism ingrained into him so much that he looks at Derek with pride, not in despite of his actions, ... • 12. Quartering Act Of 1765 Dbq Analysis The Quartering Act of 1765 is directly relevant to Chapter 6. It is relevant to Chapter 6 because it is a response to the huge war debt against an already strained budget. George III s main priority was that he wanted to maintain the size of the army. The colonists were not the biggest fans of this army. The Quartering Act (1765) was one of four pieces of legislation that forced the colonies and colonists to contribute and help with the upkeep of the large army(Oakes et al., 2015, pg. 167). Analysis: The Quartering Act of 1765 is best described from parliament as an act, ...punishing mutiny and desertion, and for the better payment of the army and their quarters; several regulations are made and enacted for the better government of the army, and their observing strict discipline, and for providing quarters for the army, and carriages on marches and other necessary occasions, and inflicting penalties on offenders against the same act (Pickering, 1765). In other words, the American colonists were required to house British soldiers and pay for their food, in order to keep the standing army. If it is you are victimized by an individual you personally know, it is possible that you might come in contact with that individual again and you might question yourself with the intent of the abuse. You may conceptualize why would they subject you to that type of abuse or what did you do to deserve the physical abuse. In addition, it might be somewhat challenging to report the individual for the reason that you may perhaps consider that an individual is a decent person after all. People would question the judge ruling, if the judge would give a suspect slap on the wrist, or maximum sentencing for a lesser crime, because of the emotional feelings of others. 3.3 A judge should never take into consideration of the victim or family member requests to give a harsher or lesser sentencing. As I said before the sentencing of a suspect shouldn t be just based off of granting a request. If the judge were to consider the family s request, though, the fact that it was Vincent s ex wife and not his current wife would have made a difference because she could have bad feelings for him (Ng, 2013). 4. I believe that it had detrimental effects on the offender s family. In The Book Thief and The Things They Carried have some similarities and differences and some of them I ll explain with literary devices. The theme for The Book Thief is death/war/brutality and the theme for The Things They Carried is to focus on what s more important than yourself. For my opening body paragraph, one important literary device that both authors used is symbolism. In The Book Thief, Markus Zusak starts of the symbol around the end of the book. Even though The Book Thief is a morbid and a demonic book which has a lot of war and death in it, the dominoes represents how they, were falling like dead bodies in the living room. (410). Well, in The Things They Carried, it also has the same symbol which relates back to dominoes and how Tim protested against the war, but not enough to be considered a pacifist. Also, how he thought about, Ho Chi Minh a Communist stooge, or a nationalist savoir, or both, or neither?... What about SEATO and the Cold War? What about dominoes? (38). That showed how the ... Perhaps you have attempted several different techniques, but nothing has given you the healing you re truly desperate for. Life is a hard journey at times it feels you climb mountains to only be pushed off the other side. Getting up can be hard, but there are so many helpful resources to fit many types of healing needs. In today s society, doctors will throw handfuls of medication to help in the healing process, and for some this attempt at numbing the pain just doesn t work. Others look to a higher power for answers, and others start a pattern of self medication that can quickly spiral out of control, therefore making things much worse. Deep in the mountains of Peru, shamans perform ceremonies for those who have tried, without relief, to heal their pain. The ceremonies involve drinking a mixture of the ayahuasca vine, and other plants found in Peru that contain DMT, such as the chacruna or guambisa. Ayahuasca has been used in sacrament for over two millennia. It is known widely for its healing abilities of the mind body and soul. If you are going to abuse this like other psychoactive substances, then an ayahuasca retreat is not for you. This is a great example of the misrepresentation of an entire community by those in power. In February 1915, a movie was released called birth of a nation which was based on Thomas Dixon Jr. novel the clansman. The film depicts the Ku Klux Klan as heroes and the villains were portrayed by white actors in black face. Country Rock History COUNTRY AND JAZZ IN ROCK At the end of the 1960s, when Rock and Roll were at its prime, two musical genres that were originally considered its influences re imagined themselves through Rock and Roll s prism Country and Jazz musicians started to mix their music with Rock s relentless energy. The newfound genres, called Country Rock and Jazz Rock respectively were accepted by the audience and critics alike, having a major impact that is still traceable in today s music. Musical genres can be often analyzed from two standpoints: the way the genre approaches musical harmony and the genre s stylistics. There is Country with its rudimentary melodic approach, which in a majority of times is merely a backdrop for stories that cover themes such as love, freedom, religion, and, unsurprisingly, the aspects of life in the countryside. A major part of Country s aesthetics is reached with the use of very few recognizable instruments, such as fiddles and banjos. On the other hand, we have Jazz, whose most renowned contributors were quite often creating instrumental pieces exclusively, praising structural and melodic complexity as their ultimate goals. The 1960 s and 1970 s became an era of diversity and identity politics as a host of others sought recognition and liberation from the constraints of discriminatory laws, social policies, and negative stereotypes (Erera 354). As more women were entering the work force, they were becoming financially independent and were able to live on their own. This led to many women who were unhappy in their marriage to divorce their husbands and raise their children on their own. As more and more women became financially independent, the more appealing single life became to them. The company that performed the pieces was Hedwig Dances a local Chicago based Dance Company. The performance was held at the Athenaeum Theatre in Chicago from April 8th to April 9th, 2016. The dancers for each piece showed discipline in their performance as well as physical strength; as modern dance is all about having clean cut movement in order to fully express the story. The first performance was called Trio M, performed by three male dancers and only one prop on the stage, a red bench. The meaning behind the dance from what I could gather was that the red bench signified much more than just a bench it exemplified power. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Traditional Data Centers have obsolete design catering to static workloads, fragmented networks and server capacity limiting the dynamic allocation and consolidation of capacity. Most Layer 2 networks use rapid spanning tree protocol to eliminate possible loops by blocking redundant paths, but it results in wasted capacity and oversubscribed network. Network fragmentation and VLANs are used for traffic management, security, performance and broadcast isolation among services belonging to different clients or tenants. For forwarding VLAN tagged packets, each layer 2 device needs to be configured and each layer 3 subnet needs to be mapped to one VLAN. In the data center infrastructure which is shared by multiple tenants, the 4000 VLAN limit is no longer acceptable. Also migrating workloads require network to be re configured which can consume resources and be error prone. To respond to dynamic workloads and demands, network administrators and operators must be to achieve high utilization of server and network capacity, be able to assign workloads operating in single layer 2 network to any server in any rack in the network, be able to move workloads without re configuring the network. This is achieved by decoupling the workload s location from its network address. Therefore, key design objectives for the modern data centers are: Location independent addressing Scalable number of Layer2/layer 3 networks regardless of number of VLANS or underlying physical ... • 47. The Murder Of Innocent Civilians America has always been depicted as an amiable place to live in. Whereas the true crime article, written by deFord, focuses more on the actions committed by the perpetrators, the Hitchcock focuses on the psychological aspects of each character and the philosophy behind the killing. As such, the film surpasses the article on almost every level. Throughout Hitchcock s film, the philosophical idea of Übermensch is prevalent and openly discussed by the characters.
